World Cup 80 started in April, World Cup 81 started in Augusut. Based on that I would expect World Cup 82 to start in December/January, based on the host's schedule. Signups will be open long before that.

We will also have the regional tournaments and the Under-21 World Cup in the time before WC82.

Thank you for your information Starblaydia. I'm really interested to joining the next world cup hehe

If the goal for bidders is to avoid conflict between the World Cup cycle and the Olympics then I'd suggest aiming for a mid to late January start. As of right now, I'm the only Summer Olympic bidder and my schedule for that has the Olympics starting in mid-December. I wouldn't be surprised if the Winter Olympics ended up happening in March. I'm definitely not going to be able to delay the Olympics to avoid conflicting with WCQs.

I should mention that there's also a U-18 World Cup (the Sporting World Cup) that will be held before WC82. I'm not going to be hosting this edition of the SWC or anything else before the Olympics. Somebody has already expressed interest in hosting the next edition on Discord (and they've got it if they still want it).

Cosumar wrote:Well-deserved, Vilita! Excellent RP content as always -- Bring it home for AO!

Congrats to both hosts for putting on one of the better tournaments of recent memory, imo. What will become of the World Cup Concert competition, if I may ask?

The World Cup Concert thread was definitely a casualty of my being significantly busier RL-wise than I'd anticipated during this World Cup. I believe the thread went up a few weeks later than I had planned and I'm pretty sure I've never gotten around to posting the opening act. I'm hoping to get an opening act posted this weekend along with a closing act that will be followed by voting. In the meantime, anybody who participated in World Cup 81 qualifying and still wishes to enter a song is welcome to do so (though I ask that songs recognize that the World Cup Concert is ICly taking place the night before the first Free Republics match of the World Cup so they shouldn't reference then-future events such as the results of the WC finals). The voting format will be adjusted, probably to a top 3 format.

And with that, the World Cup 81 cycle is finally done. Congratulations to our winners, commiserations to everyone else, and many thanks to Banija and FFR for a fantastic job on the WC hosting gig. Not as great as WC80, but not bad. Well done. ;)

With the cycle now over, I'd just like to say that it's been a fantastic one all around. It started with Farf & Sem more than ably taking on a massive (&, in some cases, quite talented) BoF pool, then with FFR & Banija going over countless RPs to whittle down a giant Qualifiers field, & then FFR & Banija hosting a wonderful Finals tournament at the same time EQS & Cass held their own top-notch tournament. Thank you to all of our hosts, & thank you to everyone who spent time RPing this cycle. Congratulations to Vilita; it's always entertaining to read their RPs, & their victory was absolutely deserved. Congratulations to all those others who had success, however they define it, & commiserations to those who came up short of what they hoped. The WCC's eighty-first cycle was a great one; I'm already excited for the eighty-second.

I'm not Qusmo's PR rep (though maybe I should be!) but I think he deserves a special mention. His RP for both WCQ and the CoH have been top notch, his 3rd Place at the CoH is well deserved and I'm glad that we call each other friends.

EDIT: And congrats to Tinhampton for your CoH victory. Great RP as well!!

Thank you, BP; I've really enjoyed hearing what you've had to say about my RPs throughout the cycle. Reading some RPs from others in the community, I've been really inspired to get out of my comfort zone a bit, be a little more creative, & contribute something that is as good as I can make it. I'm proud of the results my RPs secured this cycle, but I'm more proud of my RPs for their own sake; I don't really think of myself as a writer, nor as a particularly creative person, so I had to stretch myself to come up with all the ideas that I did & to execute them well enough for me to be satisfied with them. I'm always glad to hear that other people have enjoyed the work I've put out there, too.

I take a break, and look what happens...

Page 5 of NS Sports, and one month since the last post.

I take it there's a general feeling that the community could use a short refreshing break; while our American cousins are likely preoccupied with family this week?

The 29th of November 2018 should have just been another day in another week in another month of another year of Tinhampton's life in which she worked on subject matters relevant to everybody's life... in the company, that is. It was devoid of NS Sports activity from her, which speaks volumes, really.
Having worked only a little bit of overtime, honestly, it was about then that Tin had decided to hang up her cap for the day, customarily belated yet at once scarcely on time. As she snuck the entry ticket out of her pocket and tempted the receptionist with its company, she felt a hand on her shoulder. And another one. And the thud of the (poorly-kept) secret side-room door.

I honestly thought this day would never come...

School has been hitting me hard. I just started my GCSE's and the workload is insane, and being a top set student for everything, and particularly in maths and science, I'm getting Year 11 work as homework. I have to revise for Spanish every weekday, I literally don't have any more free time to watch YouTube or anything fun. This may sound like I'm complaining, but it's the truth. Lately, I have lost the will to RP, it's not fun anymore and it sometimes feels like a chore. You can see this in the most recent tournaments I have joined.

Therefore, I have made the decision to give up on NS as a whole. I feel as though this is one of the many things that are holding me back from achieving good grades. I have made so many friends here, and the NS Sports community was welcoming to me back when I first joined. I have so many good memories of the community, but I will always cherish the moments I spent here. If you have any of my players in any domestic league, I give permission for them to just switch allegiance to your nation, or whatever you would prefer. However, I may return if there is suddenly an abundance of free time, but it likely won't be under South Toronto. I'll miss this website and the kindness, this was an amazing experience for me but sadly I had to let go. And for all the people that helped me back when I was a newbie at hosting and RPing, you know who you are.

Farewell,

South Toronto
2nd place finish in BoF 66. There's more to come! Hopefully..
Your young don from Southwest London and I bang out 410, AM Skengdo, 1011 and a host of UK drill artists. You probably thought I was Canadian 'cause of my nation's name and flag, but I am actually Ugandan and I live in London.
Hosted the inaugural STIC, and a domestic newswire up and running. They will be a few more soon...
And remember guys, Toronton is Singular, South Toronton is an Adjective, and Torontons is Plural! Also, the USST is an abbreviation of Unified Socialist States of South Toronto, and apart from marijuana and abortion being legal, and our environmental policies, in no way does this nation reflect my RL views.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.
