Some ambitious even do it 1 year per Cup, and others still do it on a real-life time basis (although these are rarer). I'd say the most common is 2 years (or 1 per UICA domestic season, which for awhile has been around 2 per cup).

As many of you on the IRC know, I'll be attending Harvard next year, and the workload there is almost certainly much higher than it was at my high school. Plus, as I've started to acclimate to my new community, I've found that my old communities - including this one - have started to hold less emotional weight for me. Finally, I've been traveling the last couple of weeks, and have not been able to devote much, if any, time to NS - and, to be frank, I don't miss it any more. I used to want to come back and try again, but not now.
As a result, the 30th edition of the Copa Rushmori will be my last tournament here. I'll try and close up my Andrew Arrowsword storyline; thank you for all of you who have encouraged me to keep on writing it.
I'll be talking with Drawkland and Electrum to see what will happen with the two Terranean Leagues; hopefully they will continue, but you guys are more than welcome to move guys out if you want. My players in your leagues can keep playing, retire, be capped for your national team, whatever.
This site has been a significant part of the last 5 years of my life, and I will always remember the times I've had here, but I think it's time for me to move on.
