Up to you. Some people RP it as 2 years, some do it as 4.

Some ambitious even do it 1 year per Cup, and others still do it on a real-life time basis (although these are rarer). I'd say the most common is 2 years (or 1 per UICA domestic season, which for awhile has been around 2 per cup).

Welp, looks like the Drucati experiment was a bust XD

Anyways, with Zachary Sols moving to The Golden Lotus for a manager position there, and with Boulevard being demoted to the U21 Team, the Qasdonian Association Football Association is looking for a new manager/assistant manager for the National Team of Qasden! While some level of experience is preferred, the position(s) are open to anyone that wants to apply. Other national team staff, club team staff, heck, will even take applications from retiring players from backwash puppet states! Feel free to TG/DM me names, nationalities, styles (-5 to +5), along with any possible experience they have (The more they have, the greater chance they've got!). I'd prefer to have any submissions given to me within the next 3-4 days so I can test them with some exhibition friendlies before the World Cup Qualifiers begin!

Given the number of Baptism of Fire entrants, I wonder if a "Round of 32" makes it into a bid.

I know I've said that I would be taking hiatuses before, but I think this time it's going to be for real.

As many of you on the IRC know, I'll be attending Harvard next year, and the workload there is almost certainly much higher than it was at my high school. Plus, as I've started to acclimate to my new community, I've found that my old communities - including this one - have started to hold less emotional weight for me. Finally, I've been traveling the last couple of weeks, and have not been able to devote much, if any, time to NS - and, to be frank, I don't miss it any more. I used to want to come back and try again, but not now.

As a result, the 30th edition of the Copa Rushmori will be my last tournament here. I'll try and close up my Andrew Arrowsword storyline; thank you for all of you who have encouraged me to keep on writing it.

I'll be talking with Drawkland and Electrum to see what will happen with the two Terranean Leagues; hopefully they will continue, but you guys are more than welcome to move guys out if you want. My players in your leagues can keep playing, retire, be capped for your national team, whatever.

This site has been a significant part of the last 5 years of my life, and I will always remember the times I've had here, but I think it's time for me to move on.

One more question: Since I've participated in the World Cup before, I'm not eligible for the Baptism of Fire even though my KPB has reset to 0 and I'm basically starting over from the beginning correct?

Did you enter BoF before or just World Cup?

2.2.1 Entry
The conditions for entry into the BoF are:
i) A nation must not have previously participated in a WCC-sanctioned Baptism of Fire
ii) A nation must have zero KPB points at the beginning of the World Cup cycle
iii) A nation must have signed up for the World Cup in the appropriate Signup Thread and also indicated a wish to enter the Baptism of Fire.

Good luck, Ceni.

Harvard coursework really will eat a lot of your time...

I never got a degree there, but did take a couple of classes. Harvard is nuts. I could do the work, and I was learning a lot, but I just realized I didn't want to push myself that hard. A lot of people can't keep up, no matter how bad they want it. This was through the extension school, so anybody could register and take classes without necessarily being accepted to a degree program, and every class a bunch of people would flunk or quit. I assume you're going to Harvard College, so probably fewer flunk-outs over there. But you're still right to expect a harder work load than high school.

It's been really fun having you around, credo, NS Sports will be poorer without you.

Just make sure there's some room in that freshly-attending-a-top-University brain of yours for the Ceni password, and that you check in on us once in a while to make sure we've not wrecked the place while you're away. Maybe the 12 billion citizens of Ceni will be in the back of your mind shouting 'What about us?', as it happened for me, any maybe not. Either is a reasonable option. Even so, whether they do or they don't and you return to the forums one day or not, good luck in the future.

How long does it usually take for a new side to become competitive on here?

Depends a lot on random numbers, but if you RP hard and well, you'll be in contention for qualification to the finals after a couple of WCs. Average time to first qualification is somewhere around the 3-5 WCs mark.

It depends upon what you mean by competitive and also upon how much/how well you RP and how lucky you are.

It is possible, though certainly not guaranteed, to contend for WC qualification in your BoF cycle. Usually about 1 BoF or unranked nation per cycle makes a serious run at qualifying. In terms of having a realistic chance of qualifying if you RP almost every day, that usually happens around your 3rd or 4th cycle. In terms of having a realistic shot at winning the WC, you're not going to have a shot of that unless you get lucky at some point and make a deep run in the WC finals. In terms of getting into the Cup of Harmony, that's solely based on your RP during qualifying and to be a favorite to win the Cup of Harmony you basically have to get unlucky in WC qualifying and fail to qualify when you should have qualified (which happens to a couple of people or so every cycle).

I've been that BoF nation that almost qualified and came really close to knocking out the defending champs in the process, I've been a surprise WC finalist and I even qualified on my second cycle back with this nation after I replaced it with other nations for 2 cycles to get additional shots at winning the BoF (and ultimately reaching and losing a BoF final). I've also been a high ranked nation that failed to qualify despite RPing several times and I've been a top 5 nation that choked in the WC proper's group stage so luck can definitely go both ways even for the same nation.
