Furellum HAS done that before, although we used time travel to explain why they were eligible.

Man, I need to RP with them more. Just can't find a storyline to do them justice.

BAPTISM OF FIRE ANNOUNCEMENT

With Raschastan CTEing, we are expecting a short delay to the Baptism of Fire while alternative arrangements are made. As things stand, discussions are being held with the next sign-ups on the list and this has proven slightly more complicated than expected. It would not be fair to disclose details at this point, but we would ask both BoF and WC participants to bear with us, more details will follow as we are in a position to provide them.

I think it's probably fair to plan for at least a 48-hour delay at this stage. We sincerely hope it won't be longer than this.

EDIT: The issue has been resolved and an update will be posted in the sign-up thread shortly; the delay stands at 48 hours, so we can confirm the start of the competition for Monday eve UTC.

Sweet, was about to come in here to apologize for not getting my roster up (had a busy week and am in a busy weekend), so that delay is convenient for me.

Great Caledonia's "master" here. Because of me, some teams have the time to post their roster before the BoF starts. I was writing a pre BoF preview and it's hard to analyse teams when you dunno them so I searched for them, went on their country page and find out Raschastan CTEd. It doesn't happen often that a team CTE after the everything thread is made and before the competition starts.

Drawkland wrote:I think that it should be legalized while not necessarily required.

No, it should be required. Once the RL WC format changes, our format should change too. The constitutional change required is minor, and should present no practical obstacles.

Giving hosts more options and creating more disparity between opposing bids can be an interesting option, and puts more at stake between normally nearly-identical bids.

Absolutely not. This is, indeed, the very reason why we deliberately shadow the RL format in both the NSWC and the NS Olympics; to avoid arguments over format. We all know what the base format is going to be; in that one specific area creativity is actively discouraged - and with good reason. This has been a founding principle of the tournament since WC 1.

My apologies to Drawkland; I don't mean to single him out - his was just the easiest post to use to reiterate some core points that go back to 2003.

But then we do all realise that we're at least 5 years away from having to address this, and possibly 9 years away from having to finalise it? Most of you won't be here by then, and there's a fairly decent chance that I'll be dead. So maybe we should cross that bridge when we come to it rather than argue about it now.

Speaking as vice-President, with respect, this isn't the case. A nation can sign up under an alias that doesn't match their on-site username, and there's plenty of recent precedent for this.

The only thing that might be an issue is the fact that the original Greater Vakolicci Haven nation (which was run by the same guy as far as I'm aware) was banned - but forum precedent seems to have allowed Coraspia to continue to compete under the GVH name, so.

Broadly, comments in this thread that aren't signups are limited to the WCC president/VP and former and current BoF/WC hosts - while people are of course welcome to point out discrepancies and other issues, the WCDT is a better place for it where it won't get buried in signups.

Thankyou for the clarification, I am unaware of that change.

I'm assuming that, as a former BoF host, that my comment (while incorrect, and possibly in the wrong place) was not out of line then?

Yes, as Nephara said, there's no problem with another IC name for the nation, well, as co-hosts, we have no issue with CoraSpia using Vakolicci Haven (Talked with Queb already).

In regards of World Cup, threads might be open as soon as today on night, so you can start posting RPs and rosters. Another idea we have with Queb is about the implementation of certain RP ideas on random matches, those ideas won't have any impact while grading RP, so no penalisation or reward for don't using or using it, what we want to see is some input from the community, as in what do you all think of it? Any idea we can implement in mark of the RP situations or criticism will be welcomed.

Thanks beforehand.
