* Satomi Kawasaki plays receiver for the Hoji Heartstoppers, a domestic team in the Women’s Territorial Football league, representing the city of Hoji, on the island of Iwosaka.

‡ Akihrio Amazons are a domestic team in the Women’s Territorial Football League, and represent the island of Akihiro.

The Rookies
QB Katsuhito Shiskikura (6-1, 204, Magiku Voodoo, rookie)
In his rookie season, Shiskikura led the Magiku Voodoo to an 11-5 season and an Island Bowl berth. As the last piece of the puzzle for the Voodoo, Shiskikura helped turn a 7-9 team into a legitimate contender in his first season. That’s why he’s joining the Hurricane.

WR Subaru Kusatsu (6-1, 206, Atezu Bay Pirates, rookie)
The departure of superstar wide receiver Oribaha “Baja” Hini from the Atezu Bay Pirates left a huge black hole in the Pirates receiving corps. Pirates GM Iwane Daishi put the extra first round pick (tenth overall) he got in exchange for Hini to good use. Daishi made a very smart move in drafting Subaru Kusatsu as Hini’s replacement. Kusatsu led all rookie wide receivers in the TGFL in receptions and yardage, and has nine TD catches to his name in his rookie season. And since Hini is the highest paid athlete in the Fujisawan Territories in any sport, trading him away and picking up Kusatsu was a great cost effective deal for Mr. Daishi.

DT Norihiro Iemochi(6-3, 282, New Koshima Conquerors, rookie)
If the Hurricane are to make it back to the big dance, they’ve got to shore up that defensive line. End Fujira Bei and defensive tackle Awabeki Nagyosayu are both retiring, and that leaves the defensive line in a jam. In the mediocre West Division of the Fujisawan Conference, the Conquerors lived up to their name (for once) and actually stole a division crown despite finishing the 2019 season at 8-8. That never would have been possible without the help of Norihiro Iemochi, as the Conquerors surrendered the fewest rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in the TGFL this season. If only the Conquerors offense could improve.

SS Yoshikazu Tenshin (5-11, 212, Atezu Bay Pirates, rookie)
With their second first round pick of the draft, Pirates GM Iwane Daishi chose safety Yoshikazu Tenshin. The rookie out of the University of Akihiro, who set a school record for career interceptions returned for touchdowns there, didn’t fail to impress in his first season. As a starter, expect him to make big plays and become a dominant force for the Hurricane for years and years to come.

Think about the numbers in terms that we can relate to. Remove eight zeros from the numbers and pretend it is the household budget for the fictitious Jones family:
-Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
-Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
-Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
-Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710

-Amount cut from the budget: $385

RP Permissions:
RP Scores: If RP'd prior to myself, yes. A note; scores will generally be rushing (so credit a runningback in most cases).
RP Injuries: You may RP a generic injury to one of my players, but I determine severity outside of game-ending.
Godmod Injuries: I'd prefer you didn't, but if so, same rules apply as to RPing injuries.
Godmod "other" events: If you use this, do something good with it. Boring people will be shot.

Notes:
“Full-time” indicates a player who has retired or ended a pro-career, then joined the Volunteers. “Scouted” indicates a player that was recruited for the Volunteers and has opted to stay as a full-time player, rather than only for the duration of the World Bowl. Otherwise, team and conference are listed next to the player’s name. Tendencies are also given, where applicable or known.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team Overview:
Fanboyist teams are well known for playing a grinding, brutal, hard-hitting game of gridiron; speed has never been a great strength for Fanboyist gridiron teams, domestic or international; size and strength have always been an advantage that have been well used, even if the disparity in speed such teams tended to suffer were problematic.

In an effort to remedy this problem, the previous team was largely disbanded, and a team of players in it for the game (with relatively low pay, by comparison) and little else, referred to as ‘the Volunteers’ was formed. Despite this attempt to avoid the necessarily big-name players that would flock to publicity, a number of World Bowl vets returned, more than happy to accept the lower pay to keep representing their nation at the World Bowl: high on this list are a number of defensive linemen, most notably "Tank" Fletcher at defensive tackle, Danny the ‘Quinn Train’ at fullback, small and spunky Corinne Daniels at quarterback, and a juggernaut for a tight-end in Eric Drake. However, due to the high-turnover of players, the Volunteers are also a very young team, at bottom, and may suffer some problems due to a general lack of experience.

Players who opt not to sign on full-time with the Volunteers will not be permitted to play with them internationally after World Bowl IX, so this will be the final tournament for many prior Fanboyist World Bowl vets. Practices and 'regular season' play is generally made up of exhibition games and non-league special games with national league teams. This is generally considered the 'transition year' for the team, while the full-timers take over from the non-returning vets.

This team is as stubborn and persistent as they come, and are looking to become the first Fanboyist team to make a play-off appearance in international competition.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Offence:

Offensive Style: Smashmouth

As mentioned before, the Fanboyist teams that have competed internationally have brought new meaning to the term ‘ball-control team’, attempting to hog possession time, wear out opponents, and batter down smaller, faster, more athletic opponents, an approach that has met mixed success: the low output that almost inevitably results from this approach have led to a number of shutouts being suffered by this team, most notably against Qazox in both previous World Bowl appearances. The same weaknesses are quite likely to reappear here, while the defense is once again given most of the focus.

So the solution, naturally, is to focus on trying to run harder and to batter down opponents more, because they clearly havn't been trying hard enough in the past. Numerous trick-plays have been added as well, in the hopes of providing more spark to a long-stagnant offence. Even greater focus has been placed on a strong, burly offensive line to steamroller opponents flat. Predictable? Certianly. But that doesn't mean most will be able to stop it. Once more, the trap and dive will be the team's bread and butter, while counters and reverses will be the jam, with passing opening as the game progresses, largely in the form of play-actions and scrambling passes, even a few screens. A few tricks and specialty plays will be making an appearance, though, not the least being the "triple reverse" that made Coach Vaalburger famous; literally a triple reverse run, utilizing the tightends as runningbacks. Fullbacks will generally funciton as leading blockers in most scenarios, but, depending on how well teams hold up against the blunt-power attack, will receive more or fewer carries (more, if they seem particularly weak against powerful inside runs, fewer, if they seem OK at stopping them).

Head Coach Staphan Vaalburger is the former head-coach of Leif's Harbor College, which tells those who recognize that name all they need to know: defense is everything, and the offense can be as freakin' predictable as it wants. The offense is not a precision tool; it is a blunt-instrument to damage opponents with. Just try stopping persistant runs up the middle, powered foward by some of the largest, strongest linemen around. So what if it has the subtlety of a charging rhino? People are afraid of charging rhinos. And there are few teams that deserve that metaphor as much as this one; few people do blunt power as well as Fanboyist teams.

Defence:

Defensive Front/Style: Heavy Blitz, Flex; 4-3, 4-2-5, and 3-4-4 primarily

The defence is still the up-front, brutal defence fans of Fanboyist football know and love; a mauling defensive line, flexible formations, flexible linebackers, but now with increased emphasis on hands and speed in the secondary. Fronts and formations will change as events demand, but look for increased use of the spread-beating 4-2-5, and the proven 4-3 and 3-4 fronts.

Coach Stavan Vaalburger is a defensive guru, and is well-known as such within the Federation; with defensive coordinator Frank Hopewell, hailing from the defensive powerhouse Antioch Titans, the defense has been given much of the focus here, as it was by their predecessors, the Barrons, in World Bowl VII (and, to a lesser extent, the Iron Chargers of World Bowl VIII).

The heavy pass rush and blitzes of previous years will still certainly be here, and with as many great linemen as the Federation has, who can blame them? With any luck, the changes made to the secondary (emphasizing hands and speed rather than just beating the living hell out of the recievers) along with the consistantly strong pass rush (Fanboyist teams tally a lot of sacks) will enable more turnovers to be forced and for opposing teams to be ground down continuously.

#4) Mikel Dunn - #4 – Age: 25; 6’4’’; 217lbs – Scouted, Volunteers - Possession
===============================================================

Impact Players:

QB#11 Corinne Daniels-Rickenbacher - Age: 29 - Nashville Coyotes - Corinne, many have argued, just doesn't know when to accept defeat; she was the first female quarterback in the Fanboyist big-leagues, and the first to lead a team to a Federal Bowl, as well as being the first rookie quarterback to do this. Sexism is still present (though not overly prominent) in the Federation, but more than her sex, her size has often led to her ignoring. Not even six feet tall and nowhere close to 200 pounds, Corinne was ignored by almost every college despite her very successful high school career: she's too small, they said.

However, her 'never-say-die' attitude and spunky determination has led the 'girly-girl' quarterback to be one of the most successful (and frustrating for opponents) in Fanboyist gridiron history. She's developed into an excellent scrambler and option quarterback, although she's not uncomfortable in the pocket.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QB#9 Maarkus Daalhulm - Age: 23 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Daniels' refusal to move full-time to the Volunteers means that a search for a proper, 'franchise' quarterback (so to speak) was necessary; a quarterback who would, in fact, be permitted to return to the next World Bowl, and other tournaments in spite of the controversial restrictions placed on the players in the team. That search led to the almost criminally-overlooked Maarkus Daalhulm, a quarterback from the state of Skraelingia, noted for its competetive high-school gridiron. In a state full of would-be superstars, a technically excellent player who lacked the flash and pizazz of some of his peers was overlooked by many, attending a Division II school, his professional hopes apparently dashed.

However, scouts for the new national team saw him and recognized him for what he was: a no-frills quarterback with a good understanding of how to conduct and lead an offense even when passing wasn't key, and was willing to accept a somewhat less glorious role for himself. In practice, Maarkus has shown himself to be quite competent, collected, and workman-like. He lacks experience, however, and so will be rotating with Daniels in order to gain the necessary experience for the future. At this point, because of his low-amount of actual throwing and optioning in college, and the flexibility with which he played in high school, his tendencies (pocket, scrambler, option) have not been properly recognized yet. As of now, he seems to be a fairly versatile, balanced QB, but only time will tell.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HB#37 Haanryk Stahlburg - Age: 23 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Another no-frills player, largely because Fanboyists have little patience with superstars who can't perform. Stahlburg has about the same amount of subtlety that the offensive system has, and flourishes well in it. Despite not being the largest runningback out there, Haanryk is noted for his power and strength, and willingness to simply crash ahead for a few yards when no other opportunity presents itself, rather than trying to find more room to run on the outside where he can be knocked back for a loss. Stahlburg was briefly a back-up on the Barons, but left to play for the Volunteers when the spot was offered to him as a power-oriented, blunt runner. Stahlburg is a little short on experience, but stubborness is often a quite sufficient substitute. Stahlburg, as well as the other runningbacks (notably McCallum and the fullbacks), will likely benefit from a 'run-by-committee' approach, which will allow him to gain experience without too much pressure on him alone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HB#25 Eric Anderson - Age: 29 - Wilsonville Wolfpack - Eric Anderson is a good example of the size difference that often occurs between Fanboyist and other players: at 228 pounds, Eric Anderson would likely be considered to be a relatively light-weight fullback in most nations: in the Federation, he is simply a slightly-larger halfback. A six-year veteran of the professional league, Anderson is generally the larger, experienced, and reliable workhorse of the three; while not as explosive as explosive as Stahlburg or McCallum, he is also much more likely to pick up roughly five yards every damn time that he runs. He will likely be looked to to mentor the two younger halfbacks and to make up the difference where they are unsuccessful. A very good short-down back.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HB#5 James McCallum - Age: 23 - Thomasburg Ironmongers - McCallum is easily the most explosive, and flashiest, most super-star-like of the three. McCallum had amazing junior and senior years at Thomasburg State, leading the Central Federation Conference in rushing touchdowns both years. He was quickly picked up in the draft by his hometown team, the Thomasburg Ironmongers, and in the year since has given good playing, even if, like many inexperienced runningbacks, his performance fluctuates a bit between games. He had the highest number of explosive (defined as 20+ yard) runs of any rookie player, and the fourth most in the league. McCallum is also the biggest partyer and ladies-man on the team, which sometimes causes minor lacks of focus (which can be quite problematic). His performance is the most likely between the three HB's to fluctuate. James shares kick-off-returning duties with Julie Marshal.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FB#20 Danny Quinn - Age: 25 - Filia Chargers - Danny "The Quinn Train" Quinn has returned after the last World Bowl run to play fullback and help the transition to the new team (accepting that he will not be able to return the next time the team plays in international play, unwilling to abandon the Chargers). He will be another player joining the 'run-by-committee' style of the teams rushing attack, as another rotating and short-down back. Quinn is quite fast for a fullback, playing halfback in the pro's. His running style, which tends to involve dragging unfortunate defenders with him, is well-known and well-liked by Fanboyists, and many look foward to seeing it here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FB#36 Erik Rickenbacher - Age: 24 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Erik Rickenbacher (yes, he is related to Theo and Danny), by contrast, is a chugging, grind-it-out back, who is better suited to blocking, which is good, because that's what he prefers, as well. Rickenbacher will likely function as a lead blocker for other backs more often than he will take handoffs. However, he's not a bad runner in his own right, so he will still be receiving a few carries, depending on the situation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TE#44 Eric Drake - Age: 32 - Fanboyist Volunteers – Eric Drake is a World Bowl VII veteran, alongside Theo Rickenbacher. In the WBVII run, Drake was Rickenbacher’s favorite target, with more than a thousand yards in the ten games played, as well as most of the Barron’s scores through the air. Drake has often stated his goal to simply be “a reliable player.” Well reliable he is; in the 2014-2015 FNGL season, he had the fewest dropped passes of any receiver in the league. Drake announced his retirement from the national league in order to participate fully as a reliable workhorse for the new national team, and looks to reprise his role the from the previous year when he also became Corinne Daniels' favorite target.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TE#85 Willy Theodore - Age: 23 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Willy Theodore is fairly representative of the other tightends on the team: talented, large, but inexperienced. Theodore was generally judged to be the best of the three 'newbies,' and is the fastest and best suited to the TE/WR/RB triple-threat role the tightends are likely to be called upon to fill. Theodore hails from Tennessee (like many players), and played at the University there, and managed to have a very good career in the FNCAA. Theodore is an energetic, agile, and aggressive player; he suffers some problems in running routes cripsly and smoothly, but it is usually enough, and that may be largely due to inexperience. Look for Willy to develop as a player with the mentoring of Eric Drake.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RT#64 Carlos Fuqua - Age: 25 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Fuqua is a two-year professional vet of the National league, and was asked to provide vital anchoring duties at right tackle (Corinne Daniels being left-handed and Daalhulm being ambidextrous, but left-hand-favoring), to protect the QB's to ensure the best possible efficiency of a developing and secondary (but critical) in nature passing game. Fuqua is a very strong and large lineman (as linemen from the Federation tend to be), and can be relied on to stop most pass rushes around the right side with a good amount of reliability.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RG#51 Andre Marko - Age: 22 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Marko, by sharp contrast to the man lined up to his right, is still wet-behind the ears as far as professionals go; he played well in College for Leif's Harbor College (which is effectively Lineman-U for the country, along with a handful of other colleges). Marko is even stronger than Fuqua, which is good, because while the tackles (and periodically the centers) are called on to anchor the line, it's the guards in this offense that do most of the pushing and slamming. Marko, along with the left-guard, Archie Erikson, are both critical to the offenses' success. McCallum favors the right, so he will generally be his primary blocker.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LG#79 Archie Erikson - Age: 23 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Erikson, like Marko, is one of the key lineman to the system; nothing drives the offense foward quite so much as the relentless running it will be employing, with dives and traps being their bread-and-butter. Erikson, also like Marko, his counterpart on the other side of the line, is fairly inexperienced at a professional level. However, he's smart, quick (as linemen go) and as strong as anybody on the field, if not stronger. This is important, because Haanryk Stahlburg favors the left when running up the middle, which means that Erikson will be his primary blocker.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DE#58 Honorius Waalturs - Age: 21 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Waalturs was one of the first people recruited by the defensive-minded Vaalburger, who recognized immediately that Waalturs, a new face like many of his teammates, had an immense amount of talent; fast, strong, a hard-hitter, and quick-thinking, he is an excellent pass-rusher and run-stopper; defensive linemen (linemen on both sides of the ball, really) have always been the greatest strength of Fanboyist teams, and Waalturs, one of the many Skraelings on the team, is prime evidence of that. Waalturs played gridiron at Skarrsboro Federal University, and he earned All-Federation honors for his excellent playing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DT#60 Hank “Tank” Fletcher - Age: 24 – Filia Chargers – “Tank” Fletcher is another fairly new face in Fanboyist gridiron, having only recently joined the Filia Chargers coming out of college to make them a major playoff threat, shoring up a ‘till-then mediocre defensive line. The 355lb Tank often requires two, if not three, linemen in the center to cover him, otherwise being able to blow centers off the ball without too much problem. Tank is one of the many rookie players that helped the Chargers reach the playoffs two years ago, and enabled them to reach (and win) the Federal Bowl last year. Tank is well-known for having a good, upbeat and stubborn attitude in regards to playing, at one point in his college career, after a tough loss, stating “Well, we obviously didn’t try hard enough. So we’ll just try harder next time and win. All there is to it.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DE#62 Daniel Rickenbacher - Age: 37 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Danny Rickenbacher, older brother to QB Theo Rickenbacher and FB Erik Rickenbacher, is another threat up front for the defense to use. Rickenbacher is known for his size while not compromising his speed or strength; expect a lot of holes to open in the middle for linebackers (and a lot of collapsed pockets) and such to get sacks and backfield tackles from a four set. Rickenbacher is also a veteran of the previous World Bowl, where he helped lead a Barrons’ defense that allowed only seventeen points a game (on average), delivering one shutout and more than one game of less than ten points.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MLB#43 Artie White - Age: 26 – Mobilston Crimson Tide – White was a dominating player for Thomasburg State University, leading the FNCSAA in interceptions by a linebacker, sacks by linebackers, tackles, and fumble recoveries, being summed up as “a total monster.” Artie was drafted by the Mobilston Crimson Tide, and immediately made a difference, helping to propel the Crimson defense to third ranked in the nation (out of sixty teams). Artie is on hand to help train the program's linebackers, as he will, due to team requirements, opt to depart rather than abandon a professional national-league career.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FS#19 Julie Marshal - Age: 25 - Fanboyist Volunteers - Marshal is, along with White, the leader of the defense. She's a fearsome player, in spite of her relatively small build compared to some of her male counterparts; she hits as hard as anyone, is probably faster than most of the recievers and scrambling QB's she'll face, and not far from matching most runningbacks. Marshal was, like White, Waalturs and Fletcher, a highly-decorated college player, and deservedly so. She played for defensive powerhouse Devimes University, and was a constant hazard for passers, setting a Great Bay Conference for career interceptions with 66 (averaging 1.5 per game as a starter). Teams with players that don't like getting beaten by girls should start treating the Federation with a similar amount of caution to Cassadaigua. Julie will have primary punt returning duties and will be one of the primary kick returners.

OFFICAL NEWMANISTAN WORLD BOWL IX ROSTER

Modifier: -1 (unusual for us, yes, but I always base this on the current state of the team)
Conversions: Logical
Stadium: Each game will be at a different stadium, which will be posted in my first official RP.

If my opponent RP's our game first, they may:
Choose my scorers: Yes
Choose scoring events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes but only say they are hurt. I will determine the severity.
Godmod injuries: No
Godmod "other" events: No.

COACHING STAFF:

Head Coach: Jeremy Thompson, South Tier (Began in World Bowl 4)
Offensive Coordinator: Kevin Baldwin, Dover City
Defensive Coordinator: Jim Connelly, Putnam Lake
ST Coach: Larry Sylvis, Hampton

(starters bolded)

OFFENSE:

QB: #5- Anthony Murray (21, Putnam Lake Eagles)- How does much of Newmanistan feel about the reigns of the QB position being given to a young 21-year old? Actually they feel quite good. Kenny O’Hara, the former starter, lost all of his mobility with the devastating knee injury he sustained in World Bowl 8; and Michael Chatman has struggled the last couple years. So bring in Murray, a mobile athlete but also possesses an incredible arm. Hopefully the pressure will not affect him. If it doesn’t, you may see his name here for quite some time.

QB: #13- Matthew McKnight (29, Hampton Bulldogs)- After being the third stringer for two world bowls, McKnight (no relation to Rockets defender Steve McKnight on the World Cup team), got a great opportunity in World Bowl 8 when both O’Hara and Chatman got hurt. He was expecting to be named the starter for this team, so he’s feeling a bit slighted. Hopefully, it will not impact the team. He is a pure pocket passer.

QB: #8- Chris Sammon (28, Loudon Leopards)- Chris officially made his World Bowl debut when he was late addition to the World Bowl 8 roster to cover for the injuries to O’Hara and Chatman. Sammon is a scrambler.

HB: #32- Shawn Kinsella (23, Pocono City Capitals)- After debuting as the 3rd string back in World Bowl 8, it was thought that it was only a matter of time before this amazing talent began to start, and sure enough here he is. Shawn’s pure speed and acceleration makes him tough to catch, but his elusiveness makes him hard to bring down once you do. He can catch balls out of the backfield quite well, also.

HB: #35- Kevin Bowen (25, Dover City Mountaineers)- Bowen is also an electrifying back, but has a little more overall experience then Kinsella, having been the #2 back on the depth chart. He will see plenty of action.

HB: #39 Darian Westcott (32, Fairfield City Admirals): Westcott debuted with the team as the third stringer in World Bowl IV, and remained there in World Bowl V before starting in the last two World Bowls. Age has caught up to the power running back a little bit now, and while he is still a force and difficult to bring down, the younger guys are getting the nod now.

FB: #45 Shayne Maddox (34, South Tier Seagulls): Maddox debuted in World Bowl 5 as the starter and did a good job. He understands his role as a blocker. Acquired by South Tier in a trade with Pocono City last month.

FB: #46- Bryson Willersby (25, Olympia Gladiators)- Built more like an offensive lineman, Willersby will often come in when we need a yard, and he will usually get it. Won’t get much more, though. This is his first World Bowl.

TE: #88- Garrett Teague (22, Tundra Falls Mariners)- Garrett, making his World Bowl debut, is the kind of tight end that all coaches would love because he is always like an additional wide receiver out there while at the same time he can lay down a great block. He’s another name that we anticipate seeing here for a long time.

TE: #80- Jeremy Greene (28, Daytopia Racers)- Makes his second World Bowl appearance and is primarily known for blocking.

WR: #83 Chris McBride (24, Dover City Mountaineers)- Stunning speed and considered a class act off the field. McBride appeared on our WB 7 roster before starting in the last World Bowl. He was one of the players that impressively tried to carry more of the load the best he could when this team got ravaged with injuries.

WR: #82- Brian Hewitt (23, South Tier Seagulls)- A tall and talented receiver, Brian makes his World Bowl debut here. He has above average but necessarily blinding speed, but makes up for it with toughness and ability to catch the ball anywhere in the field. He will also virtually never fumble or drop a pass that he should come down with.

WR: #86- Matt Bywater (32, Southport Tigers)- The former starting wideout for the last two World Bowls for coach Thompson in South Tier did not do any favors with his ex-coach when he turned down a contract offer to remain in South Tier and then signed with rival Southport. He still has plenty of ability and will be an asset to this team, but it’s not hard to figure out why he no longer starts, and interestingly, loses it to a Seagull.

WR: #85- Anquan Morris (25, Olympia Gladiators)- Tall receiver with good speed making his second appearance on the roster. If he didn’t have problems catching the ball sometimes, he would probably start.

WR: #81- Corey Foster (18, South Charlotte Condors)- Corey’s father, Alex, was the starting wideout on our World Bowl I roster, making Corey become the first second-generation player on out roster. He is said to be just as good as his father, which is evident by his being named to the roster at a young age. Look for Corey to get some action on kick returns, as the #2 option.

WR: #87- Michael Reagan (26, Thumbria Bay Sharks)- Michael doesn’t have great speed, but has some pretty nice moves to get away from coverage. He makes his second appearance.

LT: #62- Matt Campbell (32, Pocono City Capitals)- Had been a backup to the great Benny Halvorsen at this position in World Bowls 3 and 4, and filled his shoes very impressively. He was one of the players who had his last World Bowl cut short by injury, so he looks for some redemption.

LG: #63- Billy Krause (24, North Charlotte Wildcats)- After two World Bowls of being on the sideline and labelled as a player for the future, his time has arrived. This is his first starting assignment and he hopes to be a long term fixture here.

C: #69- Scott Burnett (31, South Tier Seagulls)- Debuted in World Bowl IV and is about as solid as you want from a center. He works well with any QB and is a great blocker.

RG: #66- Kyle Williams (26, Putnam Lake Eagles)- Starts for the second time after making his debut in Secristan for World Bowl 6. He’s not the strongest guard in the world, but his technique is very impressive.

RT: #68- Jason Gilroy (27, Centralia Cougars)- Jason is a first-time starter, and makes his second World Bowl. However, last time he was a late addition to cover for other injuries on the line. Since then, Jason’s career has taken off, and now that he is in his prime, he looks forward to this experience.

C: #64- Todd Kirkwood (22, Tundra Falls Mariners)- Young centers don’t often get a lot of attention, so not many have noticed him in the pros yet. Todd has quietly played real well with Tundra Falls and the World Bowl rookie may be a future stater

G: #59- Darius Watson (27, Springfield Thoroughbreds)- Named to his third World Bowl team. Weighs in at 6'4" 329.

G: #70- William Morrissette (24, Loudon Leopards)- You oughta know about his great blocking ability though we weren’t really here to remind you of his tendency to be called for holding. He makes his first World Bowl team.

T: #67- Victor Sheehan (32, Daytopia Racers)- Makes his third appearance, he’s always been a substitute, but last time did fill in as the starter for Matthew Campbell when he got hurt.

T: #60- Steve Bennett (26, Olympia Gladiators)- Positionally excellent and strong, the only thing that prevents him from starting is that he is prone to the foul start. Can’t have that in the World Bowl.

Utility OL: #61- Mitch Philcox (33, Seminole Bay Gators)- Despite age, this is his first time making the national team. Best at center, he has experience playing all positions on the line.

THE DEFENSE: (base 4-3)

While there was a lot of turnover on the offensive side of the ball, the defense sees very little.

DT: #97 Brodie Colliton (31, Centralia Cougars): Brodie is in his sixth World Bowl but will be starting, officially, for the fifth time. Average strength but impressive mobility for a big man.

DT: #92 Chris Petracelli (24, Pocono City Capitals): This is the only starting spot that sees a new face for World Bowl 9. The young Pocono City product has gotten stronger and smarter, and now looks to be staple here for quite a while.

LE: #96 Larry Washington (34, Hastings Crusaders): A big man with a nasty streak. Lacks agility, but can make up for it simply by overpowering his blocker. Because of that, his age isn’t really a factor and in fact, makes him better.

RE: #91 Spencer Harrison (28, Putnam Lake Eagles): Anticipates the snap very well; likely to lead the team in sacks.

ILB: # 90 Shane McMurtry (30, Daytopia Racers): McMurtry a former first overall draft is now in his prime and could be one of our biggest contributors this time around.

MLB: #74 Rodney Sillinger (30, South Tier Seagulls): Debuted in World Bowl 5 as a sub and will start for the first time in World Bowl 7. It’s his ability to read the quarterback’s eyes that makes him so good.

OLB: #53 Jesse Savage (36, Dover City Moutaineers): Savage knows he has a cool last name for a linebacker, and does his best to live up to it. Getting better with age, this shows as he started since World Bowl 3. Does a great job in run/pass recognition and is never out of position. This will be his last World Bowl. While many at his age may have retired, he is bothered by the fact that he has never won a World Bowl championship and wants to take one more shot.

DL: #94 Julio Flores (23, South Tier Seagulls)- Flores, all 371 pounds of him, made his debut in The Babbage Islands. As you would expected, he is a run stopper with limited agility.

DL: #95 Dave Carlito (26, Centralia Cougar): A solid all-around player, he simply is caught up in a numbers game that keeps him from starting.

DL: #98 Scott Winchell (27, Putnam Lake Eagles): A Defensive End by trade, he gets an outstanding pass rush. As he gets older and works on his inconsistency, he may start. Also sometimes gets too emotional, 15 yards at a time.

DL: #71- Franklin Roosevelt (21, Loudon Leopards)- The only World Bowl rookie on the defensive side. He’s a tall, smart lineman with a bright future.

LB: #52 Michael Jones (22, North Charlotte Wildcats): World Bowl sophomore who excels in reading play-action.

LB: #72 Victor Basinger (26, South Charlotte Condors):Third World Bowl for the agile linebacker.

LB: #76 Shawn Helton (28, Olympia Gladiators): Making his 4th World Bowl. The kid’s got quite a bit of promise, especially in pass coverage, but is also caught in a numbers game.

LB: #99 Robert Cooper (29, Brighton Bulls): Another who’s best in pass coverage; Cooper is a steady linebacker and consistent, just not the best we have in the Empire.

CB: #22 Alex Sedlacek (32, Hampton Bulldogs): Daniel Strasser held this spot from World Bowls 1 through 7 and Sedlacek was a long time backup. Alex got the chance to start, finally, in World Bowl 8, and did a good job. Now, he looks to build on that.

CB: #46 Stanley Bressler (33, Dover City Mountaineers): Formerly Daniel Strasser’s protégé, Bressler has done a fantastic job following in his footsteps on the other side of the field. Now we start to wonder if this may be his last World Bowl.

FS: #37 Jeff Martin (24, Springfield Thoroughbreds): Second time starter, third time on team as he fills in the spot vacated by the great Michael Ahearn. Knows when to go for the INT and when to just knock the ball down.

SS: #41 Joshua Hedman (26, Putnam Lake Eagles): Makes his third starting appearance, and the hard-hitter’s stock is rapidly rising throughout the Empire.

DB: #43 Chris Johnson (32, Loudon Leopards): Has blazing speed, but sometimes that works against him as he can tend to overpursue, and get beat on cutback routes.

DB: #28 Randall Harris (22, Pocono City Captials): Speedy and wise beyond his years. Future starter in his second World Bowl. Possibly he will replace Bressler for the tenth World Bowl if Stanley does hang them up. For now, Harris is OUR MAIN KICKOFF/PUNT RETURN MAN.

DB: #44 Mark Asbury (31, South Tier Seagulls): Making his third appearance on the national team, Asbury is a hard-hitting safety. Might not be used too much, but when he is, receivers will need to know where he is.

DB: #38 Eric Bass (25, Centralia Cougars): Makes his 2nd World Bowl; he simply is terrific in one-on-one coverage.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

K: #2- Patrick Marshall (30, Fairfield City Admirals)- Marshall makes his fourth World Bowl appearance. Highly accurate with a career long of 62 yards.

P: #9- Todd Lincoln (34, Dover City Mountaineers): Second tour of duty as main punter. Does what he needs to do.

K: #1- Dennis Gardner (32, Olympia Gladiators): A backup kicker. What more must be said? Ok, well his career long is 58 yards. Happy now?

P: #6- Bob Wesloski (26, Southport Tigers): A backup punter. That should cover it.

Gregg Williams walked into the media room in Hendrix Stadium for his first press conference as the Stars gridball coach.

He was the third different man to assume the head coaching duties as Sarzonia approached its sixth World Bowl. Of course, the circumstances for his assuming the head coaching duties were vastly different from when his predecessor took over. Number one, coach Joe Gibbs retired after guiding the Stars to a third place finish. Number two, former coach Jim Zorn and former defensive coordinator Greg Blache were killed in an automobile accident.

To top off the changes in latitude and changes in attitude, Williams becomes the first defensive-minded head coach in Stars history. He hired another former quarterback, Mark Rypien, to serve as the offensive coordinator. For the first time, Rypien plans to install an attack-minded offense with a strong balance between run and pass.

"We're looking at an offence featuring both [quarterback] Gavin Davis and [running back] LoQuan Willard," Rypien said. "With our offensive line, we should be able to open things up a little bit for both of them to excel."

Defensively, Williams has said he will turn the playcalling over to former linebackers coach Kurt Olivadatti. He said he will not offer his opinion on playcalling "unless he asks.

"I've learned from Joe to trust the people I have to make the right decisions," Williams said. "I learned a lot from Joe about how to treat people."

Williams said the team would otherwise make few changes, including largely keeping the same squad that finished third in World Bowl VIII.

"We don't need to reinvent the wheel here," Williams said. "We've had some good, sustained success, and we got better results in World Bowl VIII than we had before. I think our future's bright if we do things the right way."

If there are two things Williams will insist upon, they are preparation and discipline. Not to mention an aggressive defence that should get some headlines after putting together three consecutive shutouts in World Bowl VIII.

"Williams doesn't joke around," said linebacker Erik Vasquez. "Not that Coach Gibbs wasn't serious about doing things right, but Williams is intense."

Sounds like he fits right in with Sarzonian teams in general.

Coaching Staff:

Head Coach: Vincenz Roehler
Offensive Coordinator: Kilian Riechert
Defensive Coordinator: Otto Dessloch

Starters in BOLD

OFFENSE:
QB: Markus Kash
[ The captain of the team, and a three-time Tocrowkian Conference MVP award winner. Kash is almost your prototypical star quarterback. He has a cannon of an arm and uncanny instincts, able to pick out open receivers at the worst of times and nail them. But clocking in at 5'9', he's obviously a little shorter than your average QB. But that is only another plus for this lithe superstar, as he has plenty of hustle of his own, able to run and spin and dodge with the best of them. ]
QB: Ezekiel Reinhard
[ Ezekiel Reinhard is just as good as Kash, posting stats that mirror his season after season. Standing at 6'5' though, he is taller than our starter. A gun-slinger if there ever was one though, he is prone to taking chances, especially with the home-run pass. Interceptions sometimes result. ]
QB: Lacey Winchester
[ One of only six active female players within the TGL, Lacey Winchester is good at facing adversity, both on and off the field. With a wiry 6'1' build, she has put up stats that both the quarterbacks above her can admire. Expert at staying within the pocket. ]
RB: Siegfried Vater
[ Like Kash, Siegfried is a little smaller than league average at 5'10' and 156 pounds. But he is a fast little bugger and an expert at finding holes in the defensive line and advancing the ball a long way down the field. ]
RB: Eugen Sardemann
[ --- ]
RB: Conrad Gruebl
[ ---]
FB: Adrian Kanker
[ Big and tall and strong, Adrian Kanker is an effective blocker, able to hold back multiple linemen at once. However, he also a decent runner and can plow through the line to gain some yards if need be. ]
FB: Levin Sundmacher
[ --- ]
FB: Horst Reichwald
[ --- ]
WR: Mikel Westin
[ Perhaps the most iconic player on the team, Westin is awesome at what he does. He can catch, he can catch with style (making mind boggling acrobat catches frequently) and can run really, really fast down the field. Only three years into his career, and he all ready has a multi-million dollar contract. And he needs it, too. To go along with his athletic ability Westin has a massive ego and is as cocky as they come. His post-touchdown celebrations are some of the oddest and most egotistical you can think of. He does the river dance. He tangos with the cheerleaders. He jumps into the crowd, he pelvic thrusts. And along with all of those come a fine, of course, but with his contract, he can afford it. ]
WR: Noah Peukert
[ Not quite as renowned as Westin, but mostly because he doesn't make such an ass of him self in front of billions of people on television. Peukert also has uncanny ability as a wide receiver, especially when it comes to catching long bombs and catching when covered. ]
WR: Hinrich Burbach
[ --- ]
WR: Arnim Pemsel
[ --- ]
TE: Lars Kreuter
[ Very good as a blocker, and pretty good as a receiver. Lars, due to his towering size is a great blocker but rather slow. However, he is a reliable safety valve as he usually finds someway or another to get open at the last second. ]
TE: Ludwig Schalanda
[ --- ]
TE: Willy Giesen
[ --- ]
RT: Jason Weidlich
[ An excellent blocker, the defense will find that Weidlich is essential a human wall, able to hold back even the largest of defenders without letting them get a shot at the quarterback. ]
RT: Philipp Wehinger
[ --- ]
RT: Juergen Lieberich
[ --- ]
RG: Wilhelm Palme
[ Similar to Weildlich, Palme presents a nigh immovable force to the defensive line and is a dependable guard. ]
RG: Alfons Kunze
[ --- ]
C: Rolf Hase
[A dependable center. His snap is lightning quick and he is a good all around blocker, able to hold back any rushing defensive linemen for a few seconds to give his man a shot at any open receiver.
C: Torsten Keussler
[ --- ]
C: Reinhard Fellerer
[ --- ]
LG: Ronald Lucas
[ Like all the other guards, he's good at what he does and is able to hold back the defensive line long enough to hopefully advance the ball in whatever fashion. ]
LG: Alfons Schwerdfeger
[ --- ]
LG: Winrich Budaus
[ --- ]
LT: Axel Rüffert
[ Again, good at what he does. Has good footwork and is very agile, able to protect Kash for extended periods of time while he looks for an open receiver.]
LT: Mauritz Kaldrack
[ --- ]
LT: Adolf Wietersheim
[ --- ]

DEFENSE:
CB: Derk Rehm
[ Derk is a solid corner back. Lean and agile, he can keep up with even the fastest of receivers and make their lives a living hell. He can swat the ball out of the air and pick passes off with great regularity and he has the wheels and the moves to make the other side pay when ever he does pick one. ]
CB: Cornelius Werner
[ --- ]
CB: Herwig Drekmann
[ --- ]
FS: Werner Bonte
[ A prototypical free safety. Measuring in at only 5'9', 195 pounds Werner is still an annoying little SOB for the offense. His size means he'll often look like he's coming out of nowhere to assist the corner back in swatting the ball out of the air of tackling a receiver to the ground. ]
FS: Joachim Heistermann
[ --- ]
FS: Carl Schalanda
[ --- ]
ROLB: Artur Weniger
[ This guy is really, really strong and can pretty much mash his way through the line to his target. One hit from him is usually all it takes to send somebody down. ]
ROLB: Andreas Hachfeld
[ --- ]
ROLB: Giselher Boesel
[ --- ]
RE: Johann Grauert
[ A solid defensive end, Grauert is able to hold is own and put serious pressure on the offensive line. ]
RE: Siegmund Mirbach
[ --- ]
RE: Fridolin Bleichrodt
[ --- ]
ILB: Markus Sands
[ Perhaps the MVP on the defensive side of the ball, Sands not only has the power to plow through the line, but he's freakishly fast as well. If he hits you, and he often does, you'll be feeling it all week. He's also a huge trash talker, and has a record for unnecessary roughness in tense games. ]
ILB: Siegmund Zauner
[ --- ]
ILB: Hubertus Temming
[ --- ]
RDT: Paul Scheller
[ Though not as effective as Sands when it comes to plowing through the line, he is extremely good at blocking running plays through the line. ]
RDT: Vitus Bercken
[ --- ]
RDT: Reimer Maucke
[ --- ]
LDT: Curt Krauss
[ Like Scheller, he's an effective tackle and good at stopping running plays, but mediocre when it comes to moving through the line. ]
LDT: Guenther Dickwisch
[ --- ]
LDT: Harry Gruenberg
[ --- ]
LE: Albert Hirschmann
[ Like his counter-part on the right side, he's a solid end with good agility, able to zig-zag through linemen and put pressure on the offense. ]
LE: Heino Hennicke
[ --- ]
LE: Joachim Ringhof
[ --- ]
SS: Jacob Schellong
[ A good short safety and, as is typical, larger than Bonte in order to handle the strong side of the offense. ]
SS:Joergen Manns
[ --- ]
SS: Volprecht Triebe
[ --- ]
LOLB: Rudolf Ebner
[ Strong, but not as much as Weniger. Fast, but not as fast as Sands. He falls in between them, still a good solid defensive player. ]
LOLB: Kurd Rumpelhardt
[ --- ]
LOLB: Eduard Guenther
[ --- ]
CB: Elmar Meister
[ Pretty much Rehm's twin, only a couple of years younger and a few inches taller. Able to make acrobatic blocks and snag the ball away from receivers with alarming regularity. ]
CB: Günter Faulmueller
[ --- ]
CB: Isidor Wtizleben
[ --- ]

Special Teams:
K: Xaver Falkenhorst
[ 13 year veteran of the TGL, though he's getting on in year's his still a solid leg and can nail some pretty impressive field goals from what seems like a mile away. ]
P: Sigurt Wilms
[ An undrafted free-agent that has managed to impress through two solid seasons as a punter. Can kick it deep into enemy territory. ]
KR: Clemens Fuchs
[ Fast and agile, if you give him an inch he'll take a mile on ya. ]

It's as if someone thought, "What if we took Baywatch, mixed it with Star Trek, and then blended in a frat party?" That's Kinstantia, in a nutshell.
This nation may or may not reflect my real life views. Furthermore, there's a lot of comic relief intended here, so if it seems a bit silly, you know why.

RENNIDAN
Team Roster|World Bowl Entry|The "Brutes"

Play Style:
PAT:

Team Kit: No such thing as a uniform where we’re from. The Brutes play in their regular Joe Sunday gear, whether that means jeans and a t-shirt or their overalls from work. That also means no pads, helmets or other silly girl gear.

Team Stadium:
The car park of the Green Sky Pub, The Industrial Sector, Rennidan.
With no money for a uniform, did you really think the Brutes could afford a stadium? These guys can’t even scrape together enough to play in an abandoned warehouse. So instead it’s out to the car park of the local pub. Luckily the landlord likes having a car park big enough for a game of gridiron. Y’know, just in case.

White spray paint makes up the lines and some hand crafted goalposts sit near either end of the behemoth 120 yard car park. Fans can expect to see the worst of the weather and of the injuries with this up close, in the open style of arena.

Team Owner, Coach, Manager and General Head of Everything: Owen Powis
The prodigal son has returned. Owen Powis, the Iron Brute of Rennidan’s past, is back in full force to take these Brutes to the top. And he’s not above getting in a brawl on the sidelines with whoever is stupid enough to get in his way either.

Players:

Note: Rennidan doesn't play with substitutes. Someone gets injured? They keep playing. Someone dies? They make a great offensive lineman.

OFFENCE

Quarterback:
Dana Graw
19, 6’0”: With an age like that, many people consider Graw the baby of the team. But the truth is this baby has been in Juvie almost all his life for various levels of assault. He’s just finished his first stint in big boy prison and he’s itching to show off the skills he’s got. Whilst he’s only got mediocre throwing power, he’s got accuracy and a scrambling ability that makes most on the D take a wary precaution of this fresh faced QB.

Wide Receivers:
Elijah Timoffey
22, 6’5”: In his fresh Nike Airs, Elijah is part man, part lightning bolt. With the height and jumping ability that’ll put him to the sky and hands of glue, Timoffey is the team’s second biggest asset and the main go-to-guy when it comes to getting the ball in the air.

Colombo Tikhon
23, 6’0”: Tikhon is more worried about smashing the cornback into a pulp than he is getting yards. Expect to see him catching the screens and the curls then pummelling some poor git on the D into the floor.

Fullback:
Bud Tyriq
22, 5’7”:
A tiny man with a lot of strength. Tyriq could block for a geriatric and still get them into the endzone. He’s become a formidable player, and is one of the reasons Kir is such a good halfback.

Tight Ends:
Abner Trent
35, 6’1”:
A man with a face only a mother could love, Trent is the guy who showcases why helmets are vital wear for players that value good looks. You’ll never be sure if you should be scared of his blocking or the fact that his mug will haunt your dreams for years to come.

Ivan Phillips
24, 6’2”: Though he never graduated high school thanks to a certain civil war, Phillips is one of the best calculating minds on the pitch. If he sees a change in the D’s cover, he’ll be the one shouting out the audible. A valuable player.

Halfback:
Ceadda Kir

20, 5’10”: This is the player that has it all. Speed, strength, looks and no sense of self preservation. If he has to blast through the trenches, he’ll do so, and probably come out the other side in one piece whilst the D line lies in tatters. Many a linebacker has met a sticky career ending injury after going up against Kir.

Center:
Dirk Martin
28, 6’4”:
Born and raised in Rennidan’s farming district, Dirk was never happy with a life of sheep shit and grass. He moved to the Industrial District at the age of 18 and opened up his own gym. Now this farmboy is 330lbs of lean muscle and 20lbs extra of wobbling fat. All he has to do is fall on you and, bam, say goodnight.

Offensive Guards:
Iiari Walton
37, 6’3”:
Get close and you’ll get the faintest whiff of strong alcohol and cheese steaks. Get any closer and the smell will knock your face off. Walton is the team’s alcoholic uncle, without the awkward groping.

Torsten Shanes
24, 6’1”:
Whilst he certainly will never get any kind of degree from a university, Shanes atleast passed high school and as such is probably the most qualified member of the team. Shame to many blows to the head have made him thick as shit. Luckily he’s as strong as a bull and as loyal to the team as possible, which means no one is getting past him to the QB.

Offensive Tackle:
Arrigo Adam
33, 5’11”:
Whilst he’s not the oldest on the team, time is certainly catching up on Adam. Without his agility of yesteryears, he’s had to come up with other ways to be one of the best. Expect brass knuckles to be swinging and Tabasco sauce to be sprayed in your eyes, Adam plays dirty.

Tiburcio Salomón
25, 5’11”:
Tiburcio is an odd character. Having spent most his life in an institute after found biting the head off the family hamster (for the third time), he’s not all there in the head. Which is fine by us, as long as he applies the same tactics to the opposition.

DEFENCE

Linebackers:
Carl Wilmer
23, 6’7”:
Known as The Painted Man, Wilmer plays MLB and is covered from head to toe in tattoos of all colours. Whether this is the reason he insists on playing in nothing but a pair is Speedos is unknown to us, but we bloody well hope there isn’t some ulterior motive.

Ricardo Peters
27, 6’1”:
Peters is an ex-gang banger who was a media sensation when he was found to have assaulted eleven Dancougar fans on their visit to Rennidan. The CCTV footage became a sensation on BruTube, and the gif of him throwing a man through a store window, entering the store and dragging the man back out, then throwing him through a second window, has become one of the most looped images on the internet.

Hugo Hunter
22, 6’2”:
An ex Rennidan marine, Hunter came out of the Second Civil War with his brain slightly askew. Known for sitting in dark corners rocking back and forth, Hunter is a changed man when he steps out onto the gridiron. He becomes a force to be reckoned with and is one of the leading run stoppers on the team.

Defensive End
Kody Chip
23, 5’10”:
When an elusive running back thinks he’s making the smart move by running to the outside, eleven times out of ten, he’s not. Because when he finally gets there, he meets Kody Chip. Then he meets the floor, and if he’s lucky, he’ll get to go to hospital and won’t have to go near Chip again.

Gil Nate
23, 6’1”:
Not much is known about Nate. He’s a quiet lad and according to his birth certificate he’s from the fancy town of Limonth, which means his parents are either rich or royalty. Either way he’s a mean sonovabitch who’s quite content snapping bones of wannabe halfbacks and foolhardy tight ends.

Defensive Linemen
Brandt Fox
21, 6’1”:
The heaviest on the team, he’s built like a bull combined with a pick-up truck combined with a brick shithouse. And the worst thing? He has brains. He knows where to hit you and knows how to break your bones in ways that you wouldn’t imagine possible. It’s almost like bone origami. But origami doesn’t usually leave you crying for your momma’ with your own blood splattered over you and your team mates. Unless you’re Bostopian, obviously.

Baxter Dwight
22, 6’0”:
If Brandt Fox is the lightning that leaves you stunned, the Baxter Dwight is the thunder which blows your ears off. Known for his insults and callouts, Dwight has put the fear in most quarterbacks he’s faced. Spooking the pretty boys means Dwight opens up the chances for forced fumbles and some huge sacks. The moment you hear footsteps, Mister Quarterback, you better hope your insurance is all in order.

Center Backs:
Klement Attillo
22, 6’9”:
With an abundance of height and speed, Attillo is every receivers nightmare. He can pick a ball from above you and kick you to the dirt in a split second. Better get ready for your new nemesis.

Kirk Yaroslav
25, 6’5”:
With speed that’d put a bullet to shame, Yaroslav is more than happy to taunt whoever he’s covering as he jogs on by. But don’t let his jesty exterior fool you. This guys an ex-con with more mental problems than a bag full of emo kiddies, and he’s not afraid to play dirty to get his way.

Strong Safety
Terzo Placido
26, 6’3”:
Placido got a place on the team when he successfully snapped left an imprint of himself on the side of the Green Sky by running into the wall. Fast, strong and a bit idiotic, he’s willing to do everything and more to stop the offence.

Free Safety
Camden Marsel
24, 5’5”:
Hailing from Rennidan’s finest butchery, Marsel plays in his butchers apron, which is splattered in both the blood of Rennidan’s tasty pigs and Rennidan’s idiotic opponents.

Special Teams

That Guy That Kicks The Ball:
Clive
??, about six foot?:
The man who once took on an entire team of cheerleaders in what’s been classed as one of the most memorable games in World Bowl history. The envy of most men for this accomplishment, many have to remember that Clive is actually a pretty damn good kicker.

Style Mod: Maximum Defence

Scoring: +3
Conversion: Logical
Stadium: Emperor Richard I Stadium (Located in the Imperial capital of Karita, it seats 150,000 people and has a retractable roof)

If my opponent RP's our game first, they may:
Choose my scorers: Preference for TGs first
Choose scoring events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but only with approval
Godmod injuries: No
Godmod "other" events: No

Team
Team Name: Karita Unifiers
Head Coach: Stefan Sorensen (Sara Berserkers)
Offensive Coordinator: Jenell Malzahn (Aldea Wolves) [Speed Spread]
Defensive Coordinator: Chandi Dhawan (Padma Cobras) [3-4]
Special Teams Coordinator: Kusanagi Hiroto (Hinata Tsunami)

Offense
QB1: Étienne Rousseau, #10 [6'3", 240lbs]; Rousseau has the legs to move inside the pocket, conduct designed QB runs, or scramble as the situation requires. He also has a cannon for an arm and the kind of accuracy that allows him to thread a needle 60 yards downfield, but isn't good at analyzing a situation when a play is broken. In such situations he has a running back mentality and tends to trust his legs.

QB2: Accursius de Camera, #5 [6'1", 210lbs]; Slighter in build than Rousseau, de Camera is the quintessential option quarterback. While a capable enough passer in the pocket, he really shines while on the move and giving the defense as many reads as he possibly can to open up the field.

LT: Lee Rho, #77 [6'7", 315lbs]; Rho is a young veteran who has more than proven his once league-topping contract was worth it.

LG: Kevin Abbot, #76 [6'3", 310lbs]; The veteran on the offensive line, Abbot is the steadying influence and quite possibly the toughest bastard in the league.

C: Iolana Nahaolelua, #75 [6'3", 300lbs]; Leader of the line, caller of blocks, and otherwise charged with keeping his QB(s) alive. Young, but smart and able.

RG: Alastair Cullen, #79 [6'3", 305lbs]; Cullen has rapidly improved from his rookie season. While not (yet) the best guard in the IFL, he certainly is close.

RT: Jean Paul Dupuis, #78 [6'6", 325lbs]; Dupuis is easily the best right tackle in the league, having given up no more than two sacks in a season.

RB1: Richard Brown, #23 [6'0, 230lbs]; The prototypical running back for the Imperial Football League, Brown has a somewhat heavy build and good speed (4.42 forty yard dash) that makes him the mainstay back for the run-heavy Shelby Lions. In the national team, he is the primary running option in spread sets that include a running back and the go-to runner in the heavy run formations.

RB2: Andries Haswell, #32 [6'4", 265lbs]; While the primary runner for his professional team, Haswell will serve as the battering ram of heavy sets and the go-to man in red zone spread sets and in ball control situations. While not an excellent receiver in any situation, the man is a nigh-on unstoppable beast when handed the rock.

RB3: Tanaka Akihiro, #22 [5'8", 185lbs]; Tanaka is the primary running back and returner for the pass-happy Hinata Tsunami. His small size is a detriment in a lot of situations, but his blazing speed [4.2 flat forty] means that given any space he is all but guaranteed to break a huge run. In kicking situations he is an absolutely lethal threat that has been known to be the sole reason for special teams coordinators losing their jobs (and winning the Tsunami games). Unfortunately, his small size means he is easily shaken by hard-hitting safeties and is a bit more injury prone than usual in between the tackles where dog piles are common.

WR1: Bran Cyncad, #81 [6'1", 220lbs]; The best receiver in the IFL bar none, his blend of size and speed makes him a hard match up against most corners. His almost infallible hands and willingness to go for any catch inspires awe and questions about his sanity (although never his heart).

WR2: Adharma Chamarajanagar, #80 [6'3", 215lbs]; Cocky to a fault, often with reason, Chamarajanagar is a slightly lighter and faster version of Cyncad. Often cited as a destroyer of team chemistry, he has nevertheless helped every team he has been on win an Empress' Cup

WR3: Theodore Koch, #19 [6'0", 185lbs]; Koch is blazing fast, although not quite to the level of obscenity that is Tanaka, and has excellent hands. On the other hand, he is well aware of his slight build (for a receiver) and at times seems hesitant to go for catches that he knows will put him in a position to receive a huge hit from a head-hunting safety.

WR4: Fredrick Aho, #84 [5'11", 210lbs]; Quick (although not fast in the straight line sense) and known for making stupidly acrobatic catches that other receivers would never think about, much less try, Aho is the perfect possession receiver. Because of his leaping ability and frame, he is hard for corners and even safeties to dominate without a double team and iron clad positional advantage. However, so long as the backer responsible for him is wary, he is not a home run threat deep downfield (just don't let him juke you out of your shoes, he's made a career out of YAC.)

WR5: Axel Oxenstierna, #88 [6'5", 245lbs]; A huge target, Axel is the only receiver who is a bigger threat than Fredrick in red zone passing situations. Neither fast nor particularly shifty, Axel's advantage is in his ability to gain position and post up for a lofted pass.

TE1: Arnheim Baum, #89 [6'4", 260lbs]; Baum is a pass-catching TE without peer, quite possibly the best to ever play the game. He holds every record for a TE in the IFL and registers on several all-time receiver lists. Not a great blocker, but also not for a lack of effort.

TE2: Jencin Rasmussen, #87 [6'4", 255lbs]; A better overall blocker than Baum, he lacks the stats of his senior because his native offense runs fairly often for an IFL team.

Defense
NT: 'Ele Kai, #92 [6'4", 355lbs]; A truly massive presence in the interior that more often than not takes at least two offensive linemen to block him, Kai is the kind of nose tackle that every team fears because he makes those around him a far greater threat to the QB.

DE1: Klahan Suriyawong, #91 [6'6", 320lbs]; Normally a nickel DT, he has been tapped as one of the team's defensive ends in the new 3-4 defense, Suriyawong often teams up with his partner-in-crime Lutsenko to take out opposing QBs.

DE2: Fedir Lutsenko, #90 [6'3", 310lbs]; Better at holding against the run than Suriyawong, Lutsenko is nevertheless a potent pass-rusher.

ILB1: Andreu Vega, #50 [6'2", 245lbs]; Vega is the quintessential ILB; smart, disciplined, and possesing a high motor. He is a passed master at chasing down outside runs and plugging gaps inside, but is not noted as an excellent pass-rusher.

ILB2: Ashraf Shafik, #51 [6'2", 250lbs]; Vega's young protege, Shafik is a lot of what Vega is not; wild, often overpursuing on the chase, but he does possess his master's drive.

OLB1: Ailín Rowena, #54 [6'3", 240lbs]; Rowena is a loud, passionate leader who gives a spark to his defense at the most important points in a game. Unfortunately Rowena is also prone to ebbs and flows in his game; one game he'll have six sacks and the next he'll be lucky to get a pressure.

OLB2: Ian McGonagall, #55 [6'4", 250lbs]; McGonagall is quiet while Rowena is vocal, smolders while the other blazes, is steady where the other dips and rises. However, in one important thing they are always similar; their sack totals are comfortably in the double digits season to season.

CB1: Kohei Satomi, #20 [6'2", 210lbs]; Kohei is a fast and aggressive corner with a sort of sixth sense that always lets him know where the ball is, with many of his picks coming in situations where other corners would give up touchdowns.

CB2: Ayumu Kohara, #21 [6'1", 215lbs]; Ayumu is not as fast or aggressive as his teammate Kohei, which often leads him to playing off his receiver a bit, but he has a knack for getting into the opposing QB's reads and setting bait for an ill-advised throw.

FS: Lì Zhao, #23 [6'0", 205lbs]; Leader of the "Shinobi Five", the group of five DBs tapped from the Hinata Tsunami to start for the national team, Zhao is a ball hawk par excellence and is also adept at calling assignments for one of the few roving zone defenses in the league.

SS: Hwang Dae, #24 [5'11", 205lbs]; A massively hard hitter, he has a reputation for delivering knockout blows to receivers attempting catches over the middle (to the point that there are rumors of unofficial stat keeping for the purposes of a betting pool).

RS: Muaz Saleh, #25 [6"0", 200lbs]; Saleh occupies a position unique to IFL nickels; that of Roving Safety. Part linebacker, part safety, part corner; rovers are one-man fire brigades who can do anything and Saleh is the best in the IFL at it.

Special Teams
K: Daniel Carpenter, #1 [6'2", 220lbs]; A veteran with a huge leg who became used to kicking in inclement weather during college, Carpenter has the accuracy to hit anything inside 50 yards and has the record to (maybe) hit up to 70 yards.

P: Gaius Vorenus, #2 [6'5", 235lbs]; Another big-leg kicker with the ability to regularly punt 45+ yards downfield. Unfortunately what he has in leg he loses in consistent accuracy in short-yardage punts.

KR1: Kohei Satomi, #20 [6'2", 210lbs]; Excellent straight-line speed and a go-for-the-throat attitude makes Kohei an extremely dangerous returner.

KR2: Theodore Koch, #19 [6'0", 185lbs]; Blazing speed and good field awareness give Koch the ability to take any return to the house if given a few good blocks and a clear lane.

PR: Tanaka Akihiro, #22 [5'8", 185lbs]; Tanaka is easily the fastest player on the team and he is also probably the quickest, which combined with his small size gives him the ability to pick his way in and out of coverage with extreme rapidity. Don't press him early on and come at him as a unit or expect a TD.

Kingdom of Dancougar Black Wings -- World Bowl IX Roster

The intern looked at the electronic clock on his desk and sighed heavily. It was far too early to still be working, but he'd been given a task by his supervisor before he departed for an evening of food, drink, and Japanese cartoons: "Get that roster prepared for a media release." The intern had been furiously checking player biographies and the notes passed onto him by the new head coach in an effort to put together something that made sense. And even though it appeared unlikely this his previous workday would end before the new one began, at least he hadn't done anything worthy of getting fired.

Well, that was the hope, anyway.

Change was in the air. World Bowl VIII had been dismally short for the Wings, now in danger of falling from the pantheon of gridiron giants following an early trip home from The Babbage Islands. It was also the end of coach Will Moohim's tenure with the team, and although he'd announced that the tournament would be his last before it started, no doubt the players felt bad when they sent him off with the team's worst-ever showing. Taking over for him was 37-year-old Tom Miklin, the fiery former defensive coordinator from Sullivan State University. He was expected to follow the same style as his predecessor: -2 with logical PATs. The offense stresses the run and the base 3-4 defense is only as successful as its initial rush.

And now the depth chart, with accompanying notes. Each player's number and age are given, and their position in the list reflects their position in the depth chart. Asterisks denote first-time selections.

Quarterback
11 - Brady Abramovich (24)
12 - William Spriggins (20)*
5 - Eric Killoran (29)

Even though Adrian Shirvanian should still have had one more World Bowl in him, he ended up getting the ax after youngster William Spriggins showed more promise as a mobile quarterback. Brady Abramovich will be named the starter and has a better, more accurate arm and mostly sticks to the pocket, although he's also been working on his mobility since the last tournament. Don't be surprised to see Spriggins enter the fray as a receiver or tailback when Miklin decides to get tricky.

Runningback
20 - William van Linden (24)
29 - Porter Caruthers (27)
28 - Keith Vickerson (20)*
36 - Brent Ingber (24)
31 - Arnold Walwyn (19)*

William van Linden's international debut was short, but so far, fans like what they see. In his three games in World Bowl VIII, van Linden ran for 437 yards and six touchdowns... the only problem was that his least productive game was the knockout loss to Cassadaigua. Four years older and more experienced after finishing up his college career, van Linden will be the workhorse but will occasionally get assistance from Caruthers and Vickerson. The Wings will use a lot of two-back sets, and Caruthers is especially suited for catching screens out of the backfield.

Fullback
35 - Stanley Jarnutowski (32)
44 - Darryl Schnell (28)
40 - Bruce Brasch (20)*

Primarily used for blocking and on special teams; there's nothing too notable about this bunch. Stanley Jarnutowski is still the strongest of the group at 32 and may steal a carry in goal-line situations.

Tight End
48 - Stan Perrota (25)
88 - John Gilling (19)*
83 - Tony Courey (28)

Since the loss of Ed Mendenhall, the Wings haven't had a tight end who can really threaten to blow open the middle of the field. Stan Perrota is not an explosive receiver, and while John Gilling has better hands, he needs to work on his route-running before he can be considered an every-down option. So like the fullbacks, they'll generally be reduced to a blocking role.

Wide Receiver
87 - Dwight Strauss (27)
85 - Christian Waterman (28)
81 - Scott Abbasi (24)
80 - Tim Littlefield (18)*
89 - Wade Sanacore (26)
84 - Billy Schwanebeck (20)*
18 - Colin Ponto (20)*

The Wings would love to never have to worry about third-and-long, but the truth is, even this offense has to put four or five receivers on the field sometimes. Tim Littlefield has ridiculous speed and has shown potential as a freshman at the University of Lunarossa, but he's got a long way to go if he's going to unseat the top of the chart. For now, his primary work will be fielding punts and kicks. Dwight Strauss and Christian Waterman return as the primary receivers, although neither really had an opportunity to distinguish themselves in the previous tournament.

Center
68 - Edward Burgoyne (29)
62 - Joshua Mellenthin (25)
61 - Chad Courtway (20)*

Guard
60 - Darren Loughran (29)
67 - Darren Portner (20)*
63 - Al Brunkow (27)
69 - Scottie Eyerman (21)*

Offensive Tackle
77 - Kerry Sollberger (29)
79 - Evan Pomberg (25)
72 - Leo Pearcy (20)*
78 - Fred Gutknecht (19)*

The biggest change on the offensive line occurs in the middle, where longtime veteran Ed Carnavon has finally retired at age 38. Ed Burgoyne steps into his spot and could be a weak link until he adjusts to Miklin's system. Darren Portner managed to beat out returnee Al Brunkow as one of the starting guards, so he'll be expected to perform well. The offense lives and dies with this bunch -- if they're unable to open holes for the running game, the Wings are in big trouble.

Nose Tackle
70 - Justin Gitzlaff (27)
74 - Terrance Fileppa (24)
75 - Dan Cosico (25)

Defensive End
92 - Eric Schoenman (28)
96 - Jeremy Kronenberg (19)*
93 - Corey Ayala (31)
90 - Lance Fruehling (24)
95 - Richard Weigand (21)*

Justin Gitzlaff once again anchors the defensive front, where the biggest change was due to the loss of Travis Whynne to international retirement. Corey Ayala was expected to take his place, but Jeremy Kronenberg proved too strong in early workouts. Kronenberg has a rare strength for someone at his age and has a powerful swim move which he's used to terrorize college quarterbacks despite only being a sophomore. It remains to be seen, though, how he'll cope with the world's best offensive lineman, and Ayala can only hope he falters and drops in the depth chart.

Linebacker
56 - Dell Vieyra (25)
94 - Charlie Stanislaw (24)
57 - Kevin DiAquino (28)
98 - Lucas Friefeld (20)*
91 - Richard Stendal (30)
99 - Arnold Travieso (25)
55 - Donny Gaucher (21)*
59 - Carl DeMuir (20)*

The unit lost its most experienced player, Roderick Danbury, but should remain solid as it returns three of the previous starters, including the ferocious Dell Vieyra, who will serve as the defensive captain. International rookie Lucas Friefeld will join him in the middle, with Stanislaw and DiAquino on the edge. While the entire defense is excited about have the defensive-minded Miklin as their new head coach, the linebackers may have the most to look forward to -- expect an array of blitzes to fully test any battle-hardened offensive line. They are weak in pass coverage, though, although Arnold Travieso and Donny Gaucher have shown potential.

Cornerback
23 - Johnny Sinatra (31)
38 - Gene Sampayan (24)
24 - Zackary Annas (20)*
37 - Mark McNeilley (28)
26 - Tyler Nadille (22)*

Cool under fire, Johnny Sinatra will take on any team's number one receiver, although he's lost a little pace over the years and may have to resort to his smarts and awareness to combat speedy opponents. Gene Sampayan steps into the second starting spot but may face pressure from newcomer Zackary Annas, who will commonly see action as the team's nickelback. Annas will also share kick-returning duties with wide receiver Tim Littlefield.

Safety
30 - Jayson Brocklesby (28)
39 - Leo Pritcher (25)
21 - Chris Stenner (25)
25 - Phil Eddington (31)
22 - DeAngelo Soverns (20)*
33 - Joseph Mayhugh (27)

The safeties are almost the same as last time, with only DeAngelo Soverns making his debut deep in the depth chart. Jayson Brocklesby has excellent breaking speed and is very comfortable playing deep coverage. Chris Stenner will see action in the team's dime package.

Punter
9 - Mitchell Gambrill (26)

Kicker
4 - Joe Sumeragi (28)
6 - Lewis Cachette (22)*

Mitchell Gambrill and Joe Sumeragi return to their respective kicking roles, although joining them will be an emergency third kicker, Lewis Cachette, who will be able to step in for either of them if the situation calls for it. With Sumeragi recovering from a cracked rib suffered on MD2, Cachette may see plenty of action anyway.

The team has jerseys manufactured by domestic sportswear company Shouri, which has an exclusive deal with the Sports Ministry for the various national teams. The three stars on the chest represent Dancougar's three World Bowl titles:

Home games are played in the 55,000 seat Shin Jared Koeppel located on the University of Sullivan campus in Bradford. Bradford is one of the rising cities of southern Dancougar and has eclipsed Coraopolis as the largest city in Sullivan. International team pregames have a festive atmosphere due to the campus culture, as students like to turn out and party even though they're unlikely to have tickets for the game. The tradition includes tailgating in "The Pitt," a nearby dorm quad which the stadium overlooks from its hill.

And finally, a note on the fans. American football's most enthusiastic supporters live mainly in southern Dancougar, and although the sport has made inroads into the rest of the country due to its historic success in international play, gridiron remains a mostly regional affair. Support for the team is nevertheless strong, since only the most passionate fans turn out for the games, and most of the time they can be found in the stands singing cheers and twirling "Horrible Hand-Towels," which are black towels that I swear aren't inspired by anything real and relevant to my OOC interests.

As a side note, the team's ultra contingent, "The Black Wing Brigade," is expected to see a surge in membership with the return of Rennidan and the convenient draw which places them in our group. They're always up for a fight, although don't be surprised if they get the worst of the beating. But if it's drinking we're talking about, then they're definitely competitive.
