OOC: This is the first mention of a new nation I am building called Microcalania, this is basically its founding story. Do not fear, it is basically a puppet and will not take over New Drakonika in any way,

Peter Clarke was a young human living in Edwdsfd, a large city in south-eastern New Drakonika. He was a computer programmer by trade, and spent his nights working on his pet project. The project featured 1,018 humans in 718 houses across New Drakonika, which was around 10% of the human population, and was rated as one of the fastest growing in the world. This project was a micronation named Microcalania.

Peter was the Tech Operator, he ran the government websites and networks and originally founded the nation 3 years ago and was president for the first 2 year term as part of the Left Party, but eventually gave the title up in the 2014 presidential election against Kevin Barman, the candidate for the Moderate Party.

The micronation had grown so fast, that upkeeping it was almost a full time job for many citizens. They obviously couldn't join the World Assembly, but they could at least gain recognition of some sort, it was just a matter of where to find it. After all, the nation had a massive culture, real government and a strong economy for a nation it's size. They had to hunt for it.

Peter had just finished putting the finishing touches on the email to the New Drakonikan government, attempting to find recognition within the nation that enclaved end exclaved them. Peter then sent the email and went to bed.

Three days later, President Kevin Barman received a letter in the mail. It was a letter from the New Drakonikan government. His gut started wrenching, imagining it was a Cease and Desist letter. It wasn't.

New Drakonika had offered mutual recognition, as long as the borders between the two nations remained open and citizenship. territory and businesses were made free to swap between the two with only a bit of paperwork.

Kevin screamed with excitement, and immediately got on the phone to Peter and broke the good news. Peter told him not to get overly excited, as the 50 member Senate still had to vote on the bill. Kevin nodded and got to work.

Three hours later, the Senate meeting was in progress, and the bill was being voted on. Suspense struck the air as the results were being broadcast across the internet. 47 Yes, 3 No. The newly recognized nation burst into celebration, and the government began proceedings to fully integrate within the international community.

Microcalania was a true nation now, and the ride had only just begun.

ABANHFLEFT VS. THE OAKLANDS: AS IT HAPPENED
By Malik Qazizadah

PORT SALVADOR, THE SARIAN - It's the final day of the group stage of the Baptism of Fire, and after a well-deserved rest day due to getting the bye, a fresh Abanhfleft team will be facing a new opposition in the form of the Oaklands. Now, Abanhfleft is already a shoo-in for the round of 16 after winning its three previous games in the group stage, but now our boys are looking to finish the group stage with a bang and, most importantly, a win. The Fleftic Football Army is in full force today here in Poseidon's Palace--strange name for a stadium, but okay--and almost half of the stadium is occupied by fans of Abanhfleft. Not surprising, really, when you think about it, but it's certain to make other teams. The thought of facing not just eleven Fleftics on the pitch, but the entire country as well, must be a daunting prospect for all that stand in our way to the promised land of international silverware.

Here come the players from both teams now. Abanhfleft is wearing their white-and-blue kit, while the Oaklands is wearing their yellow-and-green kit. Here are the starting lineups for both teams.

ABANHFLEFT - STARTING LINEUP
GK: Ikenna Obama
LB: Jefferson Samonte
LCB: Nestor Mikkelsen
RCB: Luke Edwards (captain)
RB: Charles Amoroso
LDM: Abdullah Musa
RDM: Walter White
LAM: Josh Hodges
RAM: Peter Rice
LS: Gustavo Potter
RS: Randy Floyd
Formation: 4-4-2 Square

THE OAKLANDS - STARTING LINEUP
GK: Thomas Callum
LB: Charlie Larple
LCB: Peter Burns
RCB: Claud Yacht
RB: Dale Inton
LM: Adrian Fife
RM: Luke Thompson
LW: Luke Ramp
RW: David Goodge
LS: George Cannock
RS: Paul Serpent
Formation: 4-4-2

Here you will notice that we've gone for an all-male lineup. Rumor has it that Kasper Molak is not yet sure of our players' roles within the team, and that was why he was experimenting with the formations and starters for the group stage. Luckily, all of his gambles paid off. Especially the all-female lineup against North Britonisea. Man, it was a very good thing that Molak did that during the group stage and not during the knockout stages, where a loss was all it took to eliminate a team. Thank all the gods that this game did not become another Mizuyuki-esque fiasco.

Here are the captains now, shaking hands, passing along souvenirs, and having their pictures taken with the officials. The ref will start the coin toss. And... The Oaklands has won the toss. Their captain is pointing towards the goal nearest to the Fleftic supporters. He's probably thinking that that's the best place to bring on the shame and butthurt to our team.

The players are now in position around the pitch. The ref is looking at his watch, probably to synchronize this game with real time. He brings his whistle to his lips...

00:00 - And the game has begun! George Cannock will pass the ball to David Goodge, who will look to find the weakness in Abanhfleft's defense.

5 minutes: Luke Ramp with the ball. Lob to David Goodge. Is he going to be selfish? Nope, he will pass to George Cannock, who fires off a cannonball of a shot! Oh, good thing that youngster Ikenna Obama was there to save it! Phew! What a bullet we dodged back there.

9 minutes: Abanhfleft on the counterattack. Abdullah Musa making that run. He will kick the ball forward. Josh Hodges is there to receive it! He will slot it into the bottom right corner! Thomas Callum can't save it! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 1-0 THE OAKLANDS What a nice start to this game... What? The linesman's raised his flag! Hodges was offside? How? Show me the slowmo replay, and now! Um... yeah, the linesman's right. Josh Hodges was offside. Damn it. NO GOAL

14 minutes: Oaklands on the counterattack this time. Luke Ramp once again leading the attack. He will pass to Paul Serpent. Serpent goes for goal! Ooh! Ikenna Obama sends it wide.

19 minutes: Abanhfleft with another chance. Peter Rice running all the way up that left flank. The defenders have no time to get back to their positions! Rice will cross! The ball finds Gustavo Potter's head! Oh! What a magnificent save by Thomas Callum!

23 minutes: Corner kick for Abanhfleft. Gustavo Potter will do the honors. It's an absolute smasher of a ball! But Thomas Callum gets his hands on it.

28 minutes: The Oaklands on the attack. Adrian Fife has the ball. Four men in white-and-blue seek to cut off his path to goal. Nestor Mikkelsen will seek to tackle him. Oh, my God! Mikkelsen's tackle sends Fife into the air! Fife's staying up longer than that rocket in America that just exploded! And he's finally down, and he's clutching his knee in pain! Uh, okay, now that's not really convincing, but the ref's picked up on it! Mikkelsen is trying to talk him out, but there comes the yellow card. You're booked, son. Oh, well. Looks like someone else is not buying it as well. Here comes Ikenna Obama... And he's trying to help Fife up! And just like that, Adrian Fife's knee has been healed! It's a miracle! Ikenna Obama is the new Jesus! But the referee is the new Pontius Pilate, because he just booked Obama too. But he also showed the yellow card to Fife, so things are pretty much even now. It's a free kick for the Oaklands, by the way.

29 minutes: Free kick for the Oaklands after a stupid tackle by Nestor Mikkelsen sends Adrian Fife flying. George Cannock is on the ball, which is at a dangerous 37 yards. He will kick. It's over the crossbar.

35 minutes: Another corner for Abanhfleft. This time it's Randy Floyd who will take it. It's another smashing shot! The ball finds Luke Edwards' head! Oh! Unlucky! The ball's hit the crossbar and gone overhead! Luke will probably regret not making that shot if we draw or lose this game.

40 minutes: The Oaklands on the attack. Adrian Fife with the ball. He passes to George Cannock, who goes for goal... Offside.

43 minutes: Abanhfleft on the counterattack. Abdullah Musa lobs the ball to Randy Floyd. Floyd shoots! It's in! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 1-0 THE OAKLANDS Now this is the game right there! Wait... Another offside, ref? Come off it! Show me! Goddamn it, they're right. It is offside. NO GOAL

45 minutes: We have four minutes of added time because of some yellow card antics.

45 minutes + 3: Abanhfleft on the attack. This will most probably be the last ever attack for anyone in this half. Walter White with the ball. Last ditch pass to Abdullah Musa to prevent getting tackled. Musa kicks from outside the box! Oh! Thomas Callum saves it once again.

45 minutes + 4: And that's the end of the first half! It's a scoreless draw, 0-0, but hopes are still high that Abanhfleft can win this game on a high note.

As the players return to the pitch, we can see that the Oaklands has decided to save Adrian Fife from the possibility of getting another card. Fife is now on the bench, probably wondering how in the world Ikenna Obama healed him.

45:01 - SUBSTITUTION (THE OAKLANDS): ADRIAN FIFE OUT, CEDRIC VACLAV IN And now that that substitution has been made, the second half is now underway! Abanhfleft will start this second half with Gustavo Potter sending the ball to Josh Hodges.

50 minutes: Abanhfleft on the attack. Gustavo Potter making that run into the box with three defenders behind him! He kicks! Peter Burns blocks it with his body in the last minute! Corner kick to Abanhfleft. Gustavo will take it. He will kick. Right into the hands of Thomas Callum.

54 minutes: The Oaklands going on a counterattack. Luke Thompson is leading this one. He sees Paul Serpent in open space! Serpent fires off a rocket of a shot! Saved by Ikenna Obama! Mm, burnt hands. Lovely.

58 minutes: Free kick for the Oaklands. Goodge, Cannock, and Serpent have formed up on the ball. Paul Serpent... is a fake. David Goodge... is a fake too. George Cannock... kicks! Ikenna Obama just manages to tip the ball wide. He tried to catch it, but then he decided to just let it fly wide.

62 minutes: Now it's Abanhfleft's time to take a free kick. Randy Floyd once again the only guy on the ball. The Oaklandian defenders have formed a wall five players wide at the appropriate spot. Randy Floyd... will pass it off to Walter White! That's certainly got the Oaklandian defense bamboozled! White finds Josh Hodges in some space. Hodges goes for goal! Ooh! Saved by Thomas Callum once again.

65 minutes: Abanhfleft on the counterattack. Walter White with the ball. He sees Abdullah Musa making a run. Walt's not the best crosser, but he's gonna have to do it anyway. Surprisingly, he finds Musa's head! And Thomas Callum is not prepared for that! GOAL! ABANHFLEFT 1-0 THE OAKLANDS And the linesman's flag is down, which means this goal is finally counted. And now Abdullah Musa is bowing down in prayer and thanking Allah for letting him score a goal for the country. Allahu akbar, indeed.

66 minutes: The Oaklands will restart play, but not before Kasper Molak makes a substitution. Correction, make that three substitutions. SUBSTITUTION (ABANHFLEFT): PETER RICE OUT, ALLISON TORRES IN; GUSTAVO POTTER OUT, ALEXANDRA ROUSSEAU IN; RANDY FLOYD OUT, CHELSEA STUART IN And it looks like we'll also be returning to our more comfortable 4-3-1-2 formation.

71 minutes: Corner kick for Abanhfleft. Chelsea Stuart has been given the honors. She will kick. It's another ball straight for Luke Edwards' head! And this time, he seals the deal! GOAL! ABANHFLEFT 2-0 THE OAKLANDS Our lead is safe, our passage to the round of 16 is assured, we have swept all four of our groupmates in Group D! Oh, it is good to be a Fleftic today!

72 minutes: The Oaklands will restart play.

76 minutes: The Oaklands on the attack now. David Goodge with the ball. He chips it over to George Cannock. Cannock tries for a cheeky lob! Ikenna Obama grabs the ball out of the air easily.

77 minutes: The manager of the Oaklandian team has decided that some fresh legs up front will be necessary to bring his team out of this two-goal deficit. And it's not just one player, it's two. SUBSTITUTION (THE OAKLANDS): GEORGE CANNOCK OUT, MARTIN TRUCE IN; PAUL SERPENT OUT, LIAM FREDERICKS IN Hmm, I remember that Wanda Island expressed an interest in Liam Fredericks a long time ago... in Di Bradini 32... sadly nothing came out of it...

82 minutes: Attack for the Oaklands. Luke Ramp with the ball. He tries to cross it in! Liam Fredericks is there to head it into the goal! No, Ikenna Obama will deny him.

87 minutes: Abanhfleft on the counterattack now. Walter White with the ball. He sees Alexandra Rousseau in open space. He crosses! Alex heads it in! No! Thomas Callum has denied her a second goal in the tournament.

90 minutes: Four minutes of added time.

90 minutes + 3: Last attack for this game, and it's Abanhfleft's. Chelsea Stuart with the ball. Her path is blocked by three Oaklandian defenders. She punts the ball back to Allison Torres, who is loitering at the edges of the box. Wait. Is Sonny Torres really gonna go for goal? She is! Chelsea ducks out of the ball's way, while Claud Yacht tries to intercept it. Looks like it doesn't have enough curve to get into the goal... But there's the curve! Thomas Callum did not expect that! He tries for a last-gasp save... Too late! He was too slow in reacting! GOAL! ABANHFLEFT 3-0 THE OAKLANDS Oh, the humiliation for the Oaklands! Conceding a last-minutes goal! Granted, they had already lost by that point, but conceding that final shot has got to hurt them a lot!

90 minutes + 4: The Oaklands will restart play. And just as I've said that, the ref blows the whistle. No consolation goal for the Oaklands. Their manager can only rub his face in frustration. And that's game over! 4 wins and 12 points means Abanhfleft is one of the few undefeated teams in the Baptism of Fire! Now it really is good to be a Fleftic.

Our first round of 16 fixture will be against a country known as Seltik. Luckily, they've got a roster, so we know who we're going up against. They've got two wins and two draws, which is not a good sign for us, but they look like they're exhausted coming into their match against us. I predict an easy win against them. Also, Kasper Molak will be deploying the full first team for this game. He is, quote, "taking no chances." Unquote. Except for Nestor Mikkelsen. We apparently cannot risk this young guy getting a second card.

Time to shock the World

Chapter 11: We are the extraordinary!

Jakobson, Raksimovich and Dursimov were just having fun after the game at the bus. The reason is why, is victory, a triumphant victory against one of the favourites for the Baptism of Fire with the score of 3-1. Next game is against still favourites Wolfbenz at the most wanted 'Atlas Derby'. So in a Wolfbenzi site, Maksimov signed up as 'EstenianMurderer' and saw a post made by Bobbeh and he answered

'Bobbeh if you want challenge then so be it, by the way I'm really the keeper of Estenia so I tell you more keeping to come.'

in the game now, Maksimov kept Estenia safe for 7 times before conceding a 42 metre shot made by Blyv on the 87th minute, a consolation goal which was then made a revenge by Maksimov after a corner and a crazy bicycle kick. So if you want something good here's the match report.

1 minutes: Nothing happens actually just the start of the game.

9 minutes: Adrianov attacks for the first time a 29 metre shot was made and it was a goal

13 minutes: Second attack and it's a goal kick

15 minutes: New Drakonika attacks by the shot is keeped by Maksimov

17 minutes: Raksimovich blocks a shot made by Smnr but then Blyv shoots a very awesome shot but it's greatly keeped by Maksimov

18 minutes: Estenia starts with the counter attack, Dursimov gives the ball to Makareshi who does cross it to Makarov and he scores the second Estenian goal

29 minutes: Drakonikan players do another chance but they miss it.

35 minutes: Estenia attacks again but misses

45 +2 minutes: First Half Ends

59 minutes: Drakonika does an amazing shot but missed because great Maksimov keeps it

62 minutes: Raksimovich tries a 62 metre shot but misses

71 minutes: Drakonikan players miss another chance because Maksimov's hands are there

87 minutes: Blyv scores a goal from 42 metres after a mistake taken by Dursimov and Raksimovich to get in front of Maksimov

90 +1 minutes: Maksimov scores with a crazy bicycle kick ending on the net

90 +4 minutes: Match ends and Estenian players just start chanting

Rally to Promote Literacy and Education in Estenia Held in Llama City

A rally to promote literacy and education in Estenia was held in Llama City today, led by the Coalition for Global Literacy. According to Ruper McGishe, chairman of the CGL, "Judging by the quality of Estenian journalism in the Baptism of Fire, that nation has one of the highest illiteracy and lowest average IQ scores of any nation in the multiverse. Therefore, this rally is encouraging individuals to donate money to the CGL to fund educational initiatives in Estenia, teaching them to read, spell, and be intelligent. We hope that this will allow Estenians to prosper rather than be wallowed down by their lack of education. Everyone who attended this rally had to raise money for our cause, and together the 6,000 people who attended raised over 650,000 lamadolas to donate to our initiatives in Estenia. We hope that the people of Estenia will learn from our help and will be able to prosper in the future. Right now, it looks like their lack of education is appalling, and we hope to change that."

Moress Jones attended the rally and said "I was pleased by how many people showed up. I am an elementary school teacher and may well be headed to Estenia in the coming months to teach these adults a basic lesson in elementary education that it seems they never got. It is really a shame that these adults need such a basic education. That shouldn't be happening anywhere in the multiverse. But when I see uneducated, poor, illiterate folks, it is my duty to educate them. Estenia, we will save you. You need not linger in illiteracy and poor education forever. Things may seem bad, but we will help you. It is our duty as educators."

Sometime shortly after the new year, a delegation of Gregllamese citizens will travel to Estenia to begin the education process, teaching them basic English, math, and other knowledge skills. It is the hopes that Estenia can grow from their status of one of the bastions of stupidity and become a leader in global IQ. Only time will tell if this initiative is successful, but it is certainly very ambitious.

ELIMINATION STAGE PREVIEW
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 > Salama! > View Transcripts > Elimination Stage Preview

JOHN NGOLO, HOST: Welcome to Salama! I'm your host, John Ngolo, broadcasting from our studios in Soalara. Thanks for listening today. The Racaoan national football team has advanced to the knockout stages of the fifty-seventh Baptism of Fire, a tournament for teams making their first international debut. After a disappointing draw with Zips Nation, Racao rebounded, winning the next three games and advancing to the Round of 16. Here to discuss it with me is Radio Racao reporter Jacky Androkara, who is covering the events in Iqualiut. Welcome to Salama, Jacky.

JACKY ANDROKARA: It's great to be here. Thanks for having me.

NGOLO: Could you start us off by going over the game against Daritii?

ANDROKARA: I'll start by going over some of the important points. Daritii, according to their domestic radio, played like a raven: they had an extreme defensive arrangement, with their team guarding the goal at all costs. Unfortunately for them, apparently they didn't do too good of a job. Racao shot down the Ravens, five to two. The ball was in Racao's possession for most of the game. In the midfield, the Racaoan team was pretty solid, blocking most of the goal-scoring opportunities. During the first five minutes, a solid offensive play by midfielder Mosa and forward Aristotle Ipirina resulted in Racao's first goal of the tournament. Ryan Arivelo and Silvere Ravalomanana, working in tandem, built on this momentum. Arivelo scored with an assist by Ravalomanana in the twelfth minute. Soon after that, in the twentieth minute, Mosa sent the ball flying into the goal after some wonderful feinting by the strikers caught Daritii's supposedly impregnable defense off guard. Daritii tried to stage a comeback, but the midfield and defense were too strong for them. Several goal shots went awry, with goalkeeper Sakoto being successful in blocking several shots. Racao then rallied back to the opposite goal, and Ravalomanana scored. At this point, the score was four to nil. Daritii switched formations, belatedly realizing that their supposed ability to easily fool our team was not working. Vertinii, their forward, then took a wonderful run towards the Racaoan goal. Unfortunately for our team, he netted the ball with a wonderful angle. Forward Ornackii also took advantage of another opening in the eightieth minute and scored in the eighty-first. It looked unlikely that Daritii would be able to score a comeback so late in the match, but Vertinii tried to make an opening in the midfield. A blocked pass by him, however, sent the ball into Racaoan possession, with Mosa dribbling towards the goal and passing to Ryan Arivelo. Arivelo pounced on the wonderful opportunity and sent the ball into the goal, in the eighty-ninth minute. Racao had won.

NGOLO: After our match with Daritii, we played Peruvian Highlands and Scow Creek, both to a 2-0 victory. Would you tell the audience about those matches?

ANDROKARA: Neither of those matches was as noteworthy as the Daritii match, but I think that in both matches, Racao's team showed promise. In the Racao-Scow Creek match, Racao possessed the ball for most of the game. Scow Creek had very few opportunities to get the ball - and when they did, they only had the ball for a few minutes at a time due to good retrieval efforts by the midfield. When the ball was back in their possession, like in the Daritii game, the good one-two power play of Mosa and Ryan Arivelo punched through the Scow Creek defense. At the fifteenth minute, a deep run by that power play scored a goal for Racao. After that goal, the midfield switched to a more defensive posture to counter any attempted goals by Scow Creek. This attempt was successful as Scow Creek could not punch through the defensive line. The midfield then switched into offensive gear, and during the sixtieth minute, Aristotle Ipirina sent a ball flying over the Scow Creek defender's head, resulting in the second goal of the match. Scow Creek, at this point, could not recover from their lost momentum. That, combined with the strong Racaoan midfield and good defense, prevented any other goal-scoring opportunities by the Scow Creek side. I would probably bore your audience with a description of the Peruvian Highlands match, as it was almost a repeat of the Scow Creek match - Mosa-Arivelo power play, goal, defense, inability of Peruvian Highlands to break through and score.

NGOLO: What does the Round of 16 draw look like for Racao, Jacky?

ANDROKARA: Two teams to look out for in our half of the draw are Polaaskan and Pine Island, both topping their respective groups with a perfect record. Polaaskan also has an aggressive strategy like Racao does, but their strategy is still a little different. They have less of an emphasis on the strikers and the midfield and a little bit more on the defense, but their strategy has worked so far - they currently have four wins on the books. They have some great talent in Lukas Karlstrom, who has been instrumental in several of their wins. Scheduled to face Racao in the quarterfinals if both teams win is Pine Island, another team with a so-far perfect record. Tied with New Bordial for most goals scored in the tournament, Pine Island has another perfect record and yet another fairly aggressive playing style. They've been having trouble with their defense, though, conceding several goals that they maybe shouldn't have. Anthony Jackson leads Pine Island in goals scored with four. A more immediate concern for the Racaoan team is New Bordial. They have a slightly aggressive team but have scored just as many goals as Pine Island. However, they did lose to Pine Island and suffered a draw to Aestate, matches that could impact their moral. Hopefully Racao will pull through this match.

NGOLO: How do you think Racao's strategy has been working for coach Soja?

ANDROKARA: I think it's been working well. We have some strong players anchoring both the offense, the midfield, and the defense. The striking side has been prolific, scoring quite a few goals with a minimum of resistance. They've been pretty dominant. Throughout the whole tournament, the defense and goalkeeper have also been doing pretty well - with the team only conceding two goals throughout the group stage. Most importantly, though, I think that Soja's strategy of holding the midfield has been very successful. The midfield works in sync and can both hold off opponents' attacks and create its own goal-scoring opportunities. Overall, the team has been working well together. Soja, in my opinion, has done a good job of playing to our players' strengths and their weaknesses, arranging for good cover and for good offense. Soja has done a good job managing Racao during this tournament so far.

NGOLO: Which player or players have been playing the best in your opinion?

ANDROKARA: I have three players that have been striking out to me for their play during this tournament: Sakoto, Mosa, and Ryan Arivelo. Sakoto has done a wonderful job goalkeeping, with three clean sheets in four games. He's had some wonderful reflexes and some wonderful saves. Sakoto's also looking fitter than ever and smarter about where he blocks his shots. Mosa has also done a good job in the midfield, taking control of the ball when the team needs it most. His offense and passing to the strikers have been phenomenal. Apart from that offensive side, his defensive side is also good, with some key steals and intercepts. Overall, he's done a good job leading the team so far. Finally, Ryan Arivelo has showed his promise, scoring the most goals of the Racaoan side. He works well with his fellow strikers. His goal-scoring ability is quite exceptional and he has a strange knack for reading the opponent and taking advantage of any gaps or indecision. He definitely has a lot of potential.

NGOLO: That was Jacky Androkara, a Radio Racao sports reporter covering the Baptism of Fire in Iqualiut, Quebec. Thanks for joining us, Jackie.

ANDROKARA: It was my pleasure.

Dire Wolves squirm their way into the Quarterfinals
Alastonia Scorers
Lee Burton, 3'
Adam Reese 41'

Wolfbenz Scorers
Andre Wexel 29'
Espen Pavlov 78'
Benjamin Zoller 117'

New Calne, The Sarian- The Dire Wolves surprised everyone in their last match against Alastonia, who were beaten in extra time 2-3, thanks to a header by none other than Benjamin Zoller when he came in as a substitute for Soren Ring in the 117th minute.

Unlike their previous game, Wolfbenz and Alastonia both played offensive matches, with the Alastonians scoring their first goal in the third minute of the game. Many predicted that this would mark a very one-sided match favoring Alastonia, but the Wolfish team had a different idea. Andre Wexel would go on to score and equalizer after Wolfbenz played with a stronger defense after Burton's goal, and Pavlov chose to pass the ball inside the Alastonian box rather than shooting himself.

Later on however, Adam Reese scored right before halftime, causing another complication for the Dire Wolves. Luckily, Superman (Espen Pavlov) scored in the 78th minute, equalizing the game. The last ten minutes failed to produce a goal, forcing the Dire Wolves to go into extra time.

Soren Ring was subbed off for Benjamin Zoller in the 115th minute, with Ring picking up a yellow card minutes earlier and Klaus Zoller not wanting to risk him getting another. Then, during a corner kick, Mirko Reutens sent the ball into the box, with Benjamin Zoller heading the ball on the receiving end, jumping higher than the defender and managing to get the ball past the goalkeeper.

The moment he scored that goal, probably everyone in Wolfbenz sprung up and cheered, knowing that they had won the match against a team they went in against as underdogs.

For their next match, the Dire Wolves take on the Estenians, a match between regional rivals. Wolfbenz again will go in as the underdogs, but they have proven they are not a team to be underestimated.

"Estenia has proven that they are very worthy opponent and I am looking forward to the next match against them," commented Arseniy Konstantinov, who comes from a family of Estenian immigrants. "They seem like a formidable team and I am looking forward to the match against them. If we managed to get to the semifinals, I would be overjoyed. I don't think very many of us expected to get this far in the competition."

Top Wolfish scorers in the BOF (as of 11/6)
1. Espen Pavlov: 3 goals (one against Somstratzka, one against Khalifa Arabia, and one against Alastonia)
2. Tihomir Freud: 1 goal (against Khalifa Arabia)
3. Lars Hollande: 1 goal (against Khalifa Arabia)
4. Arseniy Konstantinov: 1 goal (against Somstratzka)
5. Andre Wexel: 1 goal (against Alastonia)
6. Benjamin Zoller: 1 goal (aganst Alastonia)

NEW CALNE, THE SARIAN- Alastonia's run in the Baptism of Fire came to an end in heartbreaking fashion Thursday, as the Owls suffered their first loss of the Tournament against Wolfbenz, 2-3 in extra time.

Picked by many as the favorites, Alastonia came out of the gates hot, as Lee Burton scored the game's first goal in the third minute. Wolfbenz's Andre Wexel tied the match at 1 in the 29th minute, but Alastonia would retake the lead just before halftime on an Adam Reese goal in the 41st minute.

But the second half would belong to Wolfbenz, whose defense was able to shut down Alastonia, while the offense evened the score on an Espen Pavlov goal in the 78th minute.

"That's where the momentum changed," said Alastonian manager Anthony Matthews. "That goal just took the wind out of our sails."

It appeared that Alastonia would get a shot a redemption, as it seemed like the game would head to a shootout, until Benjamin Zoller scored in the 117th minute off a corner header, just two minutes after entering the game. Alastonia would never get another good look at the goal, as the final whistle blew to end the match, along with Alastonia's Baptism of Fire dreams.

"Just got outplayed," said Alastonia's Elias Harrison. "They came out strong in the second half, we came out flat. They outplayed us. Simple as that."

"Wolfbenz is a good team. Today they were better than us," said Matthews. "We made mistakes. But now we just have to learn from those mistakes, and hopefully use this to make us better.

"We have a lot to feel good about. We won our group, and that's something these guys can hold their heads high on. We learned a lot, now we just have to put what we learned to use."

Alastonia will now return home and await the World Cup. No roster changes are expected.

Pine Island vs Daritii Summary

STARTING LINEUP : PINE ISLAND (Left to Right) Saunders - Clark, Faulkner, Farley, Banks - Nicolas, Gardner, Scott - Thomas, Jackson, Rodriguez

STARTING LINEUP : DARITII (Left to Right) Ordovickii - Sercootii, Vinii, Sarditii, Ckii - Identii, Gertinii, Vertinii - Ornackii, Santii, Forernii

It was a freezing, cold night in the Royal Kingdom of Quebec as the last game of the Round of 16 was soon to begin. The atmosphere was huge, all around the stadium you could see the red, and yellow of Daritii as well as the green and white of Pine Island. Snow came down heavily onto the players below, who were anxious for the kickoff of the game. The ref took a look at both goalkeepers, looked to his assistants, and then finally blew the whistle. The match had begun.

Two minutes in, and the swift attacking methods of Pine Island started to show. A 1-2 on the left wing broke Mitchell Nicolas free of his defender. He crossed the ball into the box, where it was met by the head of Elvin Rodriguez. 1-0, Pine Island. Rodriguez ran back to the center circle of the pitch, with no smile on his face. This game was far from over; Daritii was a difficult team to break down. The game continued with many counter attacks, and passing for both of the teams, until a corner that came right before half time for Daritii. Seronii Identii took the kick, which was a low one. Several jumped inside the box, but Ornackii jumped the highest! He headed the ball to the top left corner, and it was in! 1-1, the game was even. One minute later, the referee blew the whistle and the teams walked into the locker room, to listen to what their coaches had to say.

Fifteen minutes later the two teams walked back onto the pitch, excitedly. Daritii came out with full force, hitting the bar three times in the first ten minutes all three times by Fornerii. They attacked through the middle, and on the wings as well tiring Pine Islands back 4. Substitutions were made by Pine Island, David Scott coming out of the Right Winger position, for Rory Bathurst. The return of Cleo Sotton after injury came in the 80th, for Anthony Jackson at the center forward position. Both teams exchanged a few more shots in the final five minutes of the second, when the ref finally blew his whistle. Daritii, and Pine Island were heading into extra time.

Daritii won the coin toss, and elected to have the right side of the field, where most of their fans were seated. They kicked off, and attacked down the flanks where Marvickii Vertinii crossed the ball, but was cleared by George Faulkner. A counter attack was on for Pine Island. Mitchell Nicolas reversed fields, and crossed to Rory Bathurst. Bathurst ran down the right wing, and passed the ball to Cleo Sotton who was just outside the box. Sotton looked up, shot, and scored! Pine Island lead, 2-1. Daritii came close to scoring again before the second overtime began. They attacked through the center where Arexii Santii shot the ball, and it hit the post! Close, and unlucky!

The second period of overtime began, and Pine Island kicked off. They quickly sped down the right wing, until Rory Bathurst was tripped. The referee called a foul, and Rory Bathurst prepared to take the kick. Bathurst ran to the ball, and chipped it into the box. Cleo Sotton who was onside settled it at his feet, turned, and scored! 3-1, Pine Island. After this, you could see on the faces of the Daritii players - exhaustion, and frustration. They sill persevered, and won a corner kick after some brilliant passing on the left wing. Seronii Identii took the kick, but it was immediately blocked by the head of John Farley and yet another counter attack was on for Pine Island. With only one defender back,Farley crossed the ball to the left wing where Mitchell Nicolas chested it down, and ran full speed. The defender, Arckii Sarditii delivered a senseless tackle that Mitchell Nicolas clipped the ball over, and ran past. He was now free, with the goal keeper, Setintii Ordovickii only in his way. Nicolas shot the ball to the far, right post and scored. 4-1, Pine Island.
Two minutes later, the whistle blew and the match was over.

The two sides exchanged handshakes, and went their separate ways.

ABANHFLEFT VS. SELTIK: AS IT HAPPENED
By Malik Qazizadah

PORT SALVADOR, THE SARIAN - It's the first day of Abanhfleft's journey into the round of 16 of the Baptism of Fire. Today, we are one of the few unbeaten teams in this stage of the tourney, and we are facing off against a side that has had two wins, two draws, and no losses in Seltik. It's not looking good for us. This match could very easily go into extra time, or even penalties. But, as many people may have noted, Seltik has a very attacking playing style, whereas our offense is more of the patiently waiting type. Hopefully our patience will help us exploit the gaps in their defense whenever they go forward.

Here come the players from both teams now. Abanhfleft is wearing their white-and-blue kit, while Seltik is wearing their green kit. Here are the starting lineups for both teams.

ABANHFLEFT - STARTING LINEUP
GK: James Tarragona
LB: Jefferson Samonte
LCB: Jordana Valentine
RCB: Luke Edwards (captain)
RB: Charles Amoroso
CDM: Abdullah Musa
LW: Adelaide Singh
RW: Lillian Prescott
CAM: Allison Torres
LS: Alexandra Rousseau
RS: Chelsea Stuart
Formation: 4-3-1-2

SELTIK - STARTING LINEUP
GK: Henry Wallace
LB: Adam Adkins
LCB: Erwin French
RCB: Felix Swindlehurst
RB: Jimmy Parsons
CDM: Jaime Lamb (captain)
LW: Harry Harmon
RW: Will Davis
LAM: Devon Surrey
RAM: Axton Carver
ST: David Dunn
Formation: 4-3-2-1

Here are the captains now, shaking hands, passing along souvenirs, and having their pictures taken with the officials. The ref will start the coin toss. And... Abanhfleft has won the toss. Luke Edwards is pointing towards the goal nearest to the Fleftic supporters. Nice start for us.

The players are now in position around the pitch. The ref is looking at his watch, probably to synchronize this game with real time. He brings his whistle to his lips...

00:00 - And the game has begun! Chelsea Stuart will pass the ball to Allison Torres, who will look to find the weakness in Seltik's defense.

3 minutes: Seltik on the attack. Charles Amoroso tries to block David Dunn. Charlie tackles Dunn! Ooh! What a crunching tackle! And Charlie's made it inside the box to boot! The ref's pointing at the penalty spot, and that's a yellow card for Charlie. Not a good start now. Dunn will calmly place the ball on the penalty spot. Jimmy Tarragona's reading a small piece of paper in his hand. Dunn is rattled, but not that rattled. The ref blows his whistle. David Dunn will go for the bottom right corner! James Tarragona goes the right way, but he's too high! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 0-1 SELTIK And just three minutes into this game, we are already down 1-nil. Goddamn it.

4 minutes: Abanhfleft will restart play. This is probably the first time in its football history that it's had to restart a game this early.

7 minutes: Early chance for Abanhfleft to tie this game already. Lillian Prescott with the ball. Long pass to Alex Rousseau. Alex goes for goal! Ooh! Henry Wallace parries it away.

9 minutes: Counterattack for Seltik. Will Davis with the ball. He finds David Dunn in open space. Will Dunn put the final nail into Abanhfleft's coffin? Nope, Jimmy Tarragona will not let Dunn outsmart him for the second time! But the ball's still in play. Jimmy Parsons is on hand to just nudge the ball into the back of the net... GOAL!! ABANHFLEFT 0-2 SELTIK And now our boys and girls find themselves facing a two-goal deficit. Sure, it's just 9 minutes into this game, but don't you have that feeling that this game was already over before it even began?

10 minutes: Abanhfleft will restart play.

11 minutes: Oh, no. Jimmy Parsons strips the ball from Abdullah Musa. He clears the ball into the middle third of the pitch. Devon Surrey is there to keep it in play for Seltik. He makes the run! No one else against him except James Tarragona! Surrey goes for goal! And it's in! GOAL! ABANHFLEFT 0-3 SELTIK And the game is well and truly over. I don't know why we're still bothering.

12 minutes: Abanhfleft will restart play.

16 minutes: Abanhfleft on the attack. Luke Edwards making that run deep into the opponent's half; very out-of-character for him. He chips the ball over to Adelaide Singh. She crosses the ball. Erwin French heads it away from the goal area. And then Jimmy Parsons well and truly clears it.

21 minutes: Another attack for Abanhfleft. This time Abdullah Musa is making the run. He will cross. Once again, it finds a Seltician player instead of a Fleftic one. Henry Wallace catches the ball comfortably.

25 minutes: Seltik on the counterattack. Why they're counterattacking now that they're 3-nil up is beyond me. Harry Harmon with the ball. He crosses it. David Dunn gets his head on it! Phew! It goes over the crossbar. Abanhfleft will not be further humiliated.

30 minutes: Abanhfleft finally manages to mount another attack after Seltik began hogging the ball in the middle third. Abdullah Musa makes the run. He lobs the ball to Lilly Prescott. She sees Chelsea Stuart making a run. She passes the ball. Chelsea's onside! She goes for goal! And Henry Wallace is too surprised to attempt even a halfhearted save! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 1-3 SELTIK Chelsea and the others are celebrating. Sure, they've scored, but can they keep on scoring until they equalize, or will this be the only goal for our side?

31 minutes: Seltik will restart play.

33 minutes: Free kick for Abanhfleft. Sonny, Alex, and Chelsea on the ball. Allison Torres... is a fake. Alexandra Rousseau... kicks! Henry Wallace punts it over the crossbar. Wasn't going in, anyway, but keepers had to make sure, you know.

36 minutes: Another attack for Abanhfleft. Alex Rousseau makes a long chip towards Chelsea Stuart, who is the only Fleftic player currently in the Seltician half. Look at Chelsea run! Felix Swindlehurst, strangely, is the one who catches up to her. And in an amazing display of desperation, Swindlehurst is tugging on Stuart's shirt! What the hell, man? That's a lady right there! She's a Fleftic lady, sure, but she's still a lady! And the ref sees it for what it is, and it's a yellow card for Swindlehurst. And also a penalty kick to Chelsea! Really? All right, then. Chelsea will put the ball on the penalty spot. Henry Wallace is jumping around and waving his arms. The ref blows his whistle. Chelsea runs. Oh! She uses her left foot to kick the ball! Henry Wallace did not expect that! He went completely the other way! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 2-3 SELTIK Once again, our players are celebrating, and this time, I think they've got a reason to celebrate. From a 3-nil deficit at just eleven minutes into this game, we are now within striking distance of an equalizer. And it's not even the end of the first half yet!

37 minutes: Seltik will restart play.

40 minutes: Corner kick for Abanhfleft. Lilly Prescott will do the honors. She will kick. The ball flies right into the confusing clump of white-and-blue and green players! But Henry Wallace nabs the ball from the air. Damn it.

43 minutes: Another corner kick for Abanhfleft. Once again Lilly Prescott will do the honors. She will kick. The ball finds Abdullah Musa's head! Henry Wallace parries the header away, but the ball is still in play! Jeff Samonte sees an opportunity and kicks! Once again, Wallace saves it, and this time, he's keeping both hands on the ball.

44 minutes: Abanhfleft on a proper attack now. Allison Torres making a run. She chips a long pass towards Alex Rousseau, who is open and onside. Alex smashes the ball into the back of the net! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 3-3 SELTIK And just like that, Abanhfleft has equalized, and is once again back in the running for advancing deeper into the Baptism of Fire! The Selticians are protesting the ball, claiming an offside, but here comes the slowmo video replay to show us who's right and who's wrong... Alex Rousseau was onside. The goal counts. Abanhfleft has equalized just one minutes towards the end of the first half!

45 minutes: Seltik will restart play just as the referee announces four minutes of added time.

45 minutes + 2: Seltik awarded with the free kick. Devon Surrey will do the honors for the Selticians. He will kick with his right foot. The ball goes across goal... and it goes wide along the way. What a wasted shot. At least in the eyes of the Selticians.

45 minutes + 4: The ref has blown the whistle, and the first half is history. And what history it has been! Six goals in forty-one minutes... I don't care about what everyone else says, that right there is historical enough for me.

As the teams return to the pitch for the start of this second half, we can see that both managers have decided not to make any halftime changes to their starting eleven.

45:01 - And the second half is officially underway! Seltik will start off this second half with David Dunn passing the ball to Jaime Lamb. They will look to regain the advantage they so quickly and suddenly lost in the first half. This reminds me of a quote about love: "If the two of you fell in love quickly, then the two of you will also break up quickly." It's true. I'm speaking from personal experience.

48 minutes: Free kick to Seltik. Devon Surrey once again running the show from here. He will kick with his right foot once again. And once again, the shot goes wide. This time, James Tarragona wasn't even bothered.

52 minutes: Corner kick to Abanhfleft. Addie Singh will do the honors this time. She's shouting some orders at her teammates. She will kick... short! Addie makes a short pass to Abdullah Musa from the corner, and that's bamboozled the defenders a little bit, but they've managed to recover nicely from that surprise! Musa passes to Sonny Torres, who attempts a shot from outside the box! Henry Wallace parries it away.

53 minutes: Kasper Molak has decided that some fresh legs on the attack will be needed to squeeze out a win in this game. SUBSTITUTION (ABANHFLEFT): ALEXANDRA ROUSSEAU OUT, GUSTAVO POTTER IN

56 minutes: Abanhfleft on the attack. Allison Torres directing traffic. She makes a long pass over to Gustavo Potter, who slots it into the bottom left corner of goal! Henry Wallace jumped too high! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 4-3 SELTIK And we have taken the lead!... What? Offside? Linesman, really? Show me! Uh, okay, linesman, you're right. Gustavo was offside. Sorry for blowing up on you just like that. NO GOAL Well, we can't be the only team that's running an offside trap.

57 minutes: Lucas Conroy has decided that he cannot risk Felix Swindlehurst getting a second card in this game. Also, some fresh legs in defense might help them weather the storm and maybe, just maybe, get into extra time or maybe even penalties. SUBSTITUTION (SELTIK): FELIX SWINDLEHURST OUT, DENNIS KANE IN Hmm, in Dennis Kane's official BoF profile, he's a right back, so he may be playing a bit out of position here. But then again, Swindlehurst was a right center back, so maybe Kane's not as out of position as I originally thought.

61 minutes: Seltik on the counterattack. Jaime Lamb plays a long ball up to Devon Surrey. Luke Edwards slides in front of him... too early. Surrey jumps to avoid Edwards' body, and now Surrey's path to goal is clear! He goes for goal! Ooh! Saved by James Tarragona!

66 minutes: Free kick for Abanhfleft. Gustavo Potter is standing over the ball. The wall's been formed by four Seltician players. Gustavo Potter will use his right foot--strange choice--to make a short pass to Abdullah Musa! Once again, the wall didn't expect that! Musa chips to Lilly Prescott, who crosses the ball in! The ball finds Sonny Torres' head! But the ball doesn't find the net after that. It went over the crossbar.

68 minutes: Play has returned to the Seltician half. Every player except James Tarragona is running around in the Seltician half, trying to get the ball one way or another. Jimmy Parsons foils Abdullah Musa's attempt at goal, but the ball is still in play. It bounces to Jordana Valentine, who despite being a defender goes for goal herself! Adam Adkins slides in for a tackle, but he just goes behind her! Henry Wallace tries to block her way, but that's when she chose to kick! The ball slides between Wallace's legs! He's been nutmegged! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 4-3 SELTIK And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Dana Valentine's first ever career goal, both in league and international appearances!

69 minutes: Seltik will restart play at the 69th minute. Insert inappropriate sex joke here Mods please don't kill me

73 minutes: Both Abanhfleft and Seltik have decided that some fresh blood in the midfield would serve them well. SUBSTITUTION (ABANHFLEFT): ALLISON TORRES OUT, PETER RICE IN; SUBSTITUTION (SELTIK): DEVON SURREY OUT, GEORGEI GOLVANOV IN

79 minutes: Seltik with the corner kick. Harry Harmon will do the duty. He kicks. The ball finds Georgei Golvanov's head! But James Tarragona's saved it. Boy, what if it had gone in. It would probably be the best debut goal ever for him.

83 minutes: Another opportunity for Seltik to equalize. Jaime Lamb with the ball, commanding his troops. He chips to Will Davis. Davis crosses into the box! Axton Carver is there to send the ball home! Oh, my God! Unlucky bounce off of the crossbar sends the ball high and wide! More regrets for the Selticians.

87 minutes: Entering the last three minutes of this game, Abanhfleft will go on the attack. Gustavo Potter running full steam ahead with the ball. He passes to Chelsea Stuart, who looks to attempt a real-life sweaty goal. Uh... Yeah, Chelsea, I know your right foot is your strong foot, but that time, I think that was just too strong. It went across goal without even hitting either post or keeper.

89 minutes: One last attack for Abanhfleft in regulation. Our win is all but assured, but we've always played under the philosophy of a "two-goal cushion." Gustavo and Chelsea once again working together. Chelsea passes the ball to Gustavo for another attempt at a sweaty goal. Gustavo goes for the goal! Henry Wallace deflects it! Right into Chelsea Stuart's foot! This time, she's got a better angle! Wallace reaches for the ball, but his reach is too short! GOAL!!! ABANHFLEFT 5-3 SELTIK And Abanhfleft has secured its "two-goal cushion," and Chelsea Stuart has scored her first international hat trick! Abanhfleft is through to the quarterfinals of the Baptism of Fire! Now the blue, orange, and green fly proudly over Poseidon's Palace once again! The men, the women, the gays, the lesbians, the genderqueers, all of them are celebrating this victory!

90 minutes: Seltik will restart play, just as the ref calls for three minutes of added time.

90 minutes + 3: And the game is over! Abanhfleft is through to the quarterfinals! In Abanhfleft, guns will surely be fired into the air! Vyievra Abanhfleft!

Our second round of 16 fixture will be against a country known as Isula ge Ru. They are considered favorites to win this tournament. But after pulling off this victory against Seltik, we've also become favorites to win. Now it will only be a matter of who will want to win this tournament more. Kasper Molak has decided to not release the starting lineup for the game against Isula ge Ru, quoting "We did it before, and we almost lost." We will only find out when the game comes.

Scholar's Tower, Isula ĝe Ru, Isula ĝe Ru

The High Scholar, for once, did not need to go down to the Parliament buildings below. Most days it was a requirement, for he acted as the head of parliament as well as the head of the Scholar's Council, and most days he sat in utter tedium as the Scholars debated, discussed, and drafted the resolutions upon which he and the council were required to pass judgement. Thanks to his overwhelming majority of support in the council, much of the resolutions so vehemently fought over in Parliament never got that crowning emblem, the sealing-wax that adorned the bottom of the resolution that he so relished rolling the three rings on his right hand over. While most Isulan citizens wore only their personal arms on a ring on their right hand, but the High Scholar's position needed more than that. As such, he wore the National Arms and the Arms of his position on separate fingers, giving him two of the four seals needed to place onto any matter of state. The three rings on his fingers made him the most powerful man in the Archipelago.

The most powerful man in the Archipelago didn't need to go to Parliament, and he could sit in his office atop the Scholar's Tower now in peace. The defining feature of the skyline of the island city, the Scholar's Tower held offices and apartments for all the members of the Scholar's Council in its higher rooms, and halls of study and learning in its lower rooms. In the basements of the soaring tower, it was rumored that ancient relics were held in crypts, relics from the sack of the Islands, predating the arrival of Uilhau the Great, the first king of the nation that would become Isula ĝe Ru. There were relics of the old faith, they held. The base of the tower had been a citadel in ancient, ancient, times, housing lords whose names had crumbled into history.

Here on the upper levels, however, the view was unrivaled, the rooms modern, the architecture gorgeous. Reaching to his left, the High Scholar took a long, thin pipe in his hand, the bowl already filled with the strong black tobacco that was the only thing he smoked. He lit it now, using a coal from the fire in one corner of his chamber, and settled back down into his chair, looking out over his city while swirling smoke in his mouth. From here, everything from the sea in was laid before him. The ocean smashing against docks or walls, the outer parts of the city, all stores, shops, hotels, and restaurants. Then, the great moat, the most important engineering feat of the old Isulans. The moat cut into the rock of the mountain that was the city, plunging thousands of feet down, before the cold waters at the bottom were shrouded in mist and darkness. There were but four bridges over the moat, named and placed at the four cardinal directions. Past the moat, the city opened up, bustling and busy as it was always wont to be. As one moved up towards the top of the mountain, the architecture became more modern, less ancient, save for the very top, where the parliament building encircled National Square on four sides, and his tower soared over all.

His musings about his city were interrupted, however, by a sharp, shrill knock on the door. The Espeguladore who were always mounted at his door now strode in, the surcoats bright, their spears glittering, leading one of the couriers of the city between them.

The High Scholar looked at him expectantly, swallowing and then releasing smoke as he did so.

"Sir, ther-"

The High Scholar cut him off swiftly and viciously. "The proper form of address is 'my lord,' is it not?"

"Right. My lord, there's been a letter."

"A letter. There's been a letter. What made this letter so important that it would come to address me incorrectly on my day off?"

The courier held out a sealed envelope. "See for yourself."

The wax seal was green, with a holly leaf imprint. A diplomatic letter from the Esiruans. What could this mean? He broke the seal with two swift fingers, let more smoke flow from his mouth, unfolded the paper inside, and began to read.

The letter was written in a clear, pointed hand. The High Scholar had barely gotten past the first line when he knew that this would be a letter best read in private. He dismissed the courier, who shuffled out with a final "My lord," let more smoke flow out of his mouth to hang above him, and read.

My dear friend, colleague, and lord

We are writing this letter because it is dictated by the ancient tradition of kidnapping and ransom. The two of us were raided, taken from our ship, and placed into the custody of the Esiruan Independence Movement without our consent. During the act of abduction, only we were taken. The captain was killed out of necessity, and every protocol was followed, please do not begrudge them that. We have been well-treated in every way, and are being held aboard the Puelha Alba, the same vessel that took us captive, where our every desire has been met with grace and courtesy. Our captors wish to negotiate for our release at whatever time may be convenient for you.

Yours truly,

Lareĉiu Çipru Cassia and Macĉiu Æĉilhiu Otá

Not many people could say that they had had the privilege of seeing the High Scholar really, truly angry. Had they been in the room now, they would need to rescind that statement. The High Scholar was livid. The smoke, which had previously been swirled, swallowed, and slowly released, now came out his nostrils in short, sharp puffs, making him look a bit like a bull ready to charge. Not only was he livid, but he was desperate. The elections, arriving in just one month, would determine if he would remain in these lofty chambers in the Scholar's Tower, or retreat a few floors down. With the Council whole, he could expect re-election easily, but with it minus Lareĉiu Çipru Cassia and Macĉiu Æĉilhiu Otá, the two most ardent members of the National Party besides himself, it would wind up being a tight race, one he had no guarantee of winning or even finishing second in. The two Scholars needed to be back in the city, needed to be preparing with him for the elections, for the policies soon to be enacted. There was simply no time for fringe terrorist groups.

"Our captors wish to negotiate for our release at whatever time may be convenient for you."

He'd show them. Tomorrow would damn well be convenient.

He dipped a pen into a pot of ink, and sent more smoke up to the ceiling.

Serious in a Village

Part of: Time to shock the World

Image

That was a child's drawing in a village called Yasha, a mountainous village in the Capital Administrative Province. The child is 7 years old and after watching the game of Estenia against Wolfbenz after winning them with 2-4, Estenia seems unbeatable, until 2 days from now. The child is a big fan of all the national team and says that they are his idols. His dad published it on Facebook and Instragram and it quickly went famous, at least on Estenia. The child's name is Andrei and he made that Polandball because he wanted to show his happiness with that. And so his dad edited some parts via the computer before going online, as you see the drawing is excellent for a 7 year old. Anyway that child has gone viral in a week with that Polandball having 120.000 likes. In the lots of interviews he has taken part in, he always said

"I wanted to do that because I am happy to do this, I am so happy that our national team reached the Semi-Finals of the Baptism of Fire and I hope we can do well in the World Cup Qualifiers also. Thanks for the support you've shown to my drawing, all I hope now is to win this cup so I won't cry."

and his dad always told him

"You won't be the only one crying all Estenia will be crying but yet again we will stand on our feet. As we always did. But yet again I hope we'll do well."

Meanwhille on Chippenham...

Maksimov saw that drawing and not knowing that he was the child's favourite player he wrote

'Hello, I am Maksimov from the national football team, this is a very nice Polandball, I hope you'd come to the Sari Lands and watch us play, if you want that so much I can give you money 2 days before the match so you can see your favourite team playing against Isula Ge Ru.'

after that post he quickly checked a very Weird report about him

Maksimov the Crazy Keeper

Well as you know, Maksimov has done a lot of crazy things in that Baptism of Fire, for example scoring a Bicycle kick in the game against Devonta or with the match with Wolfbenz taking the Wolfbenz Flag and sticking it with the Estenian. But also some very impossible saves like with the one against French Louisiana which was close to become a goal, or the saves against Seltik. But the craziest thing, the kiss with a Sari girl inside the stadium against the match with New Drakonika. He has done all the crazy stuff in that cup that hasn't done ever with Jelle FC. I do hope he continues doing those crazy stuff by the way cause I love watching him doing those, I think he gains fans that way and I think he fairly earns those fans. But anyway, what crazy stuff will he do against the match with Isula Ge Ru? Will he take the flag from the corner and make it a guitar, will he take his shirt off when Estenia scores a goal, or will a tank comes and destroys the stadium. (The last one was for fun lads, imagine if that happened.)

INTO THE QUARTER FINALS!

Polaaskan continued their impressive Baptism of Fire run with a convincing 2-1 victory over Sumaltheria in Iqaluit.

The Sumaltherians, who finished second in Group F, were no doubt a tricky side to face. Something that every manager must consider is to never underestimate any team. If you are top of the highest division in football and you play against a team at the bottom of the lowest division, you should never underestimate them. Sumaltheria was tricky, as predicted, with Yuvon Quio, age 17, almost scoring. On 24 minutes, the very impressive Quio blasted home, after dribbling past Frans Laurensen and Sol Arke and hammering it in to the top corner, making it impossible for Teemu Petersen to save it. Polaaskan fought back well, with Lukas Karlstrom and Mikke Leonardsen terrorising the Sumaltherian full backs. Iiro Mihaylov looked especially creative, and TImo Heinckel and Heiko Blonqvist made an awful lot of hard work for the Sumaltherian goalkeeper, Anthony Ferrez. Still 1-0 down, Polaaskan managed to equalise from a corner. Brilliantly whipped in by Jonathan van Leonardsen, captain Sol Arke was able to power a header home, netting his second goal for Polaaskan. He even almost scored again, with a powerful free kick rattling Ferrez's crossbar. Still, it was 1-1 at half-time, with both teams playing extremely well.

Both made a substitution at half time. Simon Terrance came on into the second-striker role for Sumaltheria, and it unfortunately looked like Blonqvist had taken a knock for Polaaskan, so Patrik Ael came on for him. And Ael was a perfect substitute. He used his physical ability and strength to bully the Sumaltherian defence, and held the ball up well, even getting a couple of shots in two. 67 minutes in, Ael drilled the ball low across the floor for Timo Heinckel to slide home, putting Polaaskan 2-1 up. Jon van Axelsen came on for Mihaylov, and Riko van Bommel came on for Frans Laurensen, both on 73 minutes. van Axelsen came close to getting his second ever goal for Polaaskan, but his shot went just wide. Karlstrom and Leonardsen's wing support was second-to-none, and both Heinckel and Ael came really close to getting a third, too. Polaaskan used their tactic of "Never back down", and continued to attack and press while Arke and Hogg were solid in central defence. For the last 20 minutes of the game, Teemu Petersen was hardly troubled, only making a few saves. Eventually, Polaaskan held out with a satisfying 2-1 victory.

Polaaskan will play Mendoya in the quarter-finals, in Montreal. Mendoya topped their group, Group F, with a perfect record as well.

RACAOAN ELECTORAL PRIMER - YOUR GUIDE TO THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7 > Salama! > View Transcripts > Racaoan Electoral Primer

JOHN NGOLO, HOST: Welcome to Salama! I'm your host, John Ngolo, broadcasting from our studios in Soalara. Thanks for tuning in to Radio Racao. As we might all know, elections are coming up in Racao soon with campaigning getting into full swing. To explain to us the sometimes-complex world of the Racaoan government, we have two guests today. Professor of Political Science at Port Louis University Andro Ariventiry and candidate for Senator, welcome to the studios.

ANDRO ARIVENTIRY: Thank you for having me.

NGOLO: We also have Felana Volanoa, Radio Racao politics editor. Welcome to the studios, Felana.

FELANA VOLANOA: It's my pleasure to be here.

NGOLO: Andro, could you start by telling us the structure of Racao's government overall?

ARIVENTIRY: Well, in the new governmental structure there will be three branches - executive, legislative, and judicial. All three are supposed to be separate but equal - that is, they all have different areas of power, but they all have equal amounts of power. There will also be checks and balances in this new government, so that a powerful dictator can't just impose his will on the entire government - the legislative branch and judicial branch can say hey, wait, you can't do that. So in that respect, it's based off of the American constitution, in terms of checks and balances.

NGOLO: Could you describe more about each of the different branches?

ARIVENTIRY: Sure. The Executive Branch will be made up of a President holding most powers of state and of government. The President is in charge of carrying out the laws, and he does this through the Cabinet - which advises him on how to carry out the laws- and the departments that the Ministers lead. The Cabinet is appointed by the President but confirmed by the Senate with the advice of the Prime Minister - part of the system of checks and balances. The legislature of Racao - known as the Parliament - has two chambers - the Senate and the Representative Assembly. The Senate has 80 members and the Representative Assembly has two-hundred and eighty-nine members. The Prime Minister, also known as President of the Senate, is elected by the Senate and confirmed by the Representative Assembly. The Representative Assembly elects its own office, the Speaker. The Prime Minister is responsible for running a smooth legislature - working with the parties to pass bills and get business done. Finally, in the judicial branch, there are nine Supreme Court justices and several federal appeals courts and district courts.

NGOLO: Felana, how will this new governmental structure differ from previous governmental structures?

VOLANOA: As opposed to the current transitional government, this government will have more structure and power than the transitional government, which was more a caretaker authority to smoothly guide the nation from dictatorship into democracy. This government will have considerably more checks and balances than previous governments. The Supreme Court, for example, can declare the legislature's actions unconstitutional; the President can appoint new members of the Supreme Court; and the legislature confirms members of the Supreme Court. This will hopefully help to ensure that one military strongman doesn't come in and unilaterally seize power by being elected President - he has to work through the system. Hopefully, this will also help to break down corruption - with the elected representatives of the people watching the money, it will be harder to abscond with some of it.

ARIVENTIRY: Felana, I'd like to interject - reducing corruption requires the legislature and the people be actually interested in tackling corruption. Although everyone says that hate it, people really don't have the courage to stand up to it. By bringing more power and courage to the people, however, I believe this system will help to encourage the legislature to solve the corruption matter.

NGOLO: How will the new federalism work in this year's elections?

ARIVENTIRY: Racao has historically been divided into several provinces, but these previously didn't have real meaning. They were basically just subdivisions of the executive branch. Now, though, the provinces will be part of a federal government - they share power with the federal government. Both the federal and provincial governments have powers reserved to them, and they share some powers. Provinces will have their own governors, legislatures, and court systems. Giving provinces more autonomy hopefully will bring the government closer to the people and away from the hands of strongmen or strong-willed Presidents who want to keep hanging on to power.

NGOLO: What is the exact procedure for electing both the President and the members of the legislature?

VOLANOA: For the President and Governors, a range vote will be held. This is a new innovation, but it's been highly touted, and the Constitutional Convention agreed on it. Each voter will give the candidates a score from one to five. The candidate with the highest average score wins. This system will hopefully reflect the will of the people more. For the Senate, forty will be elected by a range vote in the Provinces - each province will get at least five Senators. The rest of the Senators will be apportioned out to the provinces based on population. Each Province will be divided into two elections - the five guaranteed places, and then any additional places for Senators will be elected separately. For the Representative Assembly, the entire two eighty-nine members will be elected by party-list proportional-representation - each voter gets one vote, and the parties get seats based off the percentage of votes that they get.

NGOLO: What parties are contesting this year's elections?

VOLANOA: Three main parties have formed for this year's elections - Firaisana amin'ny Tany (FT), Union with the Land; the National Alliance for Change (NAC); and Tiako-I-Racao (TIR). The FT party is a liberal party, with a Green ideology. They support projects relating to improving and preserving the environment. The National Alliance for Change is a center-liberal party. Their main issues focus on removing corruption and improving infrastructure. Finally, the Tiako-I-Racao, which means I Love Racao, is a center-right party. Their goals include a more stable free-market economy and less government restrictions on business. There are also some smaller, regional or single-issue parties, such as the Marxist-Leninist-Ratsirihist Party, the Aboriginal Coaltion, and the Mahaleo ny Rahanakara Party, known colloquially as either Mahaleo or MR, which supports the ousted dictator, Masa Rahanakara. TIR and NAC have consistently polled better than the other parties, although it is likely that whoever wins this election will have to enter in coalition with other parties.

NGOLO: Felana, what is the distribution of the parties across Racao - which parties are based in what regions?

VOLANOA: The National Alliance for Change's main support comes from the cities - Soalara. Port-Louis, and Saint-Denis
are that party's stronghold. They also have a large bastion of support among the migrant workers in North and South Racao. Although these are the main support centers of the NAC, they are a national party. TIR is generally considered to be the other main party. They have support among the more conservative people in the western area of Racao and the suburbs, especially suburbs of Soalara. The FT has it main support along the Racaoan coast in the main cities in that area, as well as some of the inhabitants along the edge of the forest. Mahaleo's main support comes from the really rural areas - farming areas in the western part of the country. The MLR has its support in the urban cores of cities.

NGOLO: Are either of you hopeful that a new government will solve problems endemic to Racao or will it just disintegrate into prattle?

ARIVENTIRY: I am hopeful but somewhat doubtful that a new government will be able to solve Racao's problems. I think that the parties will be more concerned with ethnic squabbling and lining their own pockets rather than actually creating policy to solve Racao's problems. However, as you did note, I am running for the Senate, and it's because I think I can make a difference in Racao. So I think there is some hope.

VOLANOA: I think I have considerably more hope that Andro - with a President who actually cares about something and who has the will to push through compromises and reforms, and legislators who aren't so interested in lining their own pockets, I think this country can do something. Several of the people running for President, in my opinion, are passionate about what they do and have the strength to fix Racao.

NGOLO: That was Felana Volanoa, the Radio Racao politics editor. We also had Professor of Political Science at Port Louis University Andro Ariventiry. Thanks for being here with us.

VOLANOA: Thanks for having us here.

ARIVENTIRY: I was glad to be here. Thanks for the opportunity.

Dire Wolves meet their match against Estenia
Wolfbenz Scorers:
Tihomir Freud, 56'
Vladimir Gusev, 78'

Estenia Scorers:
Yuri Makarov, 13', 25'
Yuri Makrov, 44'
Kaupo Markov, 89'

Gorgona, The Sarian- The Wolfish National team has been defeated by Estenia 4-2, mainly thanks to various mistakes made in the defense and the Estenian strikers managing to capitalize on the mistakes made.

Estenia started the match with no nonsense, with their strikers finding holes in the defensive line, and found a way through in the 13th minute, with Yuri Makarov scoring the first goal of the match. About ten minutes later, Makarov scored another goal for the Estenians. Thankfully for us, neither of them were from 80 meters away.

Right before halftime, the Estenians scored their third goal of the match, thanks to a slip up by Ruslan Salic.

"It was quite an unfortunate event for us," spoke Arseniy Konstantinov regarding Salic's mistake. "I think he just was not quite feeling it because of the two goals scored before, and it seemed like he gave up and accepted defeat. Then again, most of us went off the field with our heads held low."

After halftime, the Dire Wolves played better than the first half, with the team getting forward more often and getting more shots on goal. Espen Pavlov seemed to lose his touch, with him not being able to shoot the ball on target for most of his shots. Ruslan Salic was brought off in favor of Klaus Nezfurger. Nezfurger played quite well in the goal in spite of his age, and kept out most shots that came at him.

In the 56th minute, Tihomir Freud broke though the Estenian defense and managed to score a goal. Twenty minutes after, Vladimir Gusev scored a goal for the Dire Wolves.

The crowd was praying that the Dire Wolves could have scored another goal, but Kaupo Markov scored a goal for the Dire Wolves in a very aggressive play, where Klaus Nezfurger suffered an arm injury, and was rushed to the local hospital. Doctors say it's likely to be a broken arm, which will most likely result in Klaus Nezfurger to miss World Cup Qualifying.

And so the Dire Wolves journey ended at the hands of the Estenians, a team who will most likely fall to Isula ĝe Ru, but may surprise us (me) in a matter of time.
And so the Dire Wolves returned home, making subtle changes to their squad, hopefully leaving Benjamin Zoller as a substitute, walking into what the future held for them.
The end.

Manager Shane Starks had a mini interview with the press after training Friday evening.

"Hello Shane, it's that time again for our little interview. How's all?"

"Hello, I'm excited, and a little anxious for tonight's matchup. We're playing a very talented squad, who can hold possession, and attack as well. These are two things we need to look for from our opponent."

"Interesting. What did you see from your last match that you believe the team needs to work in tonight's?"

"Set pieces, and counter attacks. Out of the seven goals we gave up this tournament, 4 came off set pieces. Also, counter attacks. Last match we saw Daritii pounce on that Right wing time, and time again. So don't be surprised tonight if you see more pressure from our wing backs."

"Over the last five days, we have seen the media and newspapers write about the performance of those two wing back positions. What did you see from them in the last game?"

"I saw a lot more pressure from them in the last match which I was encouraged by. Unfortunately due to this, there were many fouls given to Daritii. I will make a few changes to tonight's match to change this."

"Cleo Sotton made his return to playing football once again in this tournament. He scored two goals in extra time, and gave positive energy to his team mates. Are you planning to start him today, due to his performance last game?"

"Cleo will sit on the bench once again tonight, and I'll call him up, when Io find the time is right. I don't want to stress out that knee, you know. it won't be good for me, the team, and his club with another injury."

"Rory Bathurst has also been positive coming off as a sub in three games this tournament. What do you plan to do with him?"

"I was thinking about this at training a couple hours ago, but my decision was to start him. When he steps onto the field, the whole team suddenly lights up. We surely will need this spark if there's any chance at all for us."

"There have been images released of people gathering around pine island in many town centers watching you guys plays in this competition. How does it masked you guys feel, knowing your country is following your every step?"

"It feels good, it really does. Knowing that your nation is supporting you half the globe away makes me feel very special."

"You have been in this situation before, in a knockout game back when you were playing pro with Newport Lions FC. How does it feel to be back once again in this type of atmosphere just two years after your retirement?"

"While the team is getting ready, it's a little nerve wracking, because you have all these thoughts in your head, like is this player going to perform to his capability, or can this guy stop delivering bad crosses. During the match while I am encouraging my players, I feel calm even if we are trailing. Look at the match against Aestate felt example."

"One more thing Shane!"

"Sure?"

"Playoffs for the Pine Island Champions League start tomorrow, with your former team Newport Lions hosting FC Dawson. Who do you have?"

"Hahaha, I got to give it to my Lions, man! With Cleo, Dawson's nothing I'm sorry."

"Alright Shane, thanks and good luck tonight."

"Thank you."

LIVE UPDATES - POLAASKAN vs MENDOYA, MONTREAL, ROYAL KINGDOM OF QUEBEC

Welcome to this quarter-final match between Polaaskan and Mendoya. Both teams topped their groups with perfect records, while Polaaskan defeated Sumaltheria 2-1 in the Round of 16, and Mendoya knocked out Gregory Llama Land.

Polaaskan: - Teemu Petersen; Vasili Semshov, Sol Arke, Christian Hogg, Jonathan van Leonardsen; Frans Laurensen; Lukas Karlstrom, Mikke Leonardsen; Iiro Mihaylov; Patrik Ael, Timo Heinckel

Mendoya: - Fabio Santillian; Mercedes Machado, Emilio Paredes, Mina Sanchez, Jessica Marquez; Arturo Palomo, Pedro Lopez, Alexis Vazquez, Hernan Bengochea, Nacho Bengochea; Vicente Esparza

1' - Mendoya kick off here tonight. They are employing a 4-5-1 formation, with 26 year old Vicente Esparza leading the attack. Nacho Bengochea receives the ball on the right flank, and attempts a looping cross but is headed away to safety by captain Sol Arke at the back.

2' - CHANCE! Mendoya almost go 1-0 up! What a save by Teemu Petersen! Arturo Palomo receives the ball on the left wing, and he cuts inside, finds Hernan Bengochea, whose stinging effort was expertly saved by Petersen. Semshov has the ball on the Polaa left side, and he is advancing down the pitch.

4' - Free kick to Polaaskan. Iiro Mihaylov goes down after a shove by Emilio Paredes. Mihaylov takes the said free kick, but it is just over the bar and a goal kick for Fabio Santillian.

6' - Both teams looking sharp here tonight. Mendoya go close again, Esparza this time who just sends it wide, and at the other end, a looping header from Patrik Ael smacks against Santillian's crossbar.

8' - YELLOW CARD! Mina Sanchez is booked for a handball, 40 yards from goal. It is a long distance, but Iiro Mihaylov strikes the free kick well but it is an absolutely fantastic save by Fabio Santillian. Corner to Polaaskan.

9' - Corner curled in by Lukas Karlstrom. Christian Hogg heads it, but it is straight into the arms of the impressive Santillian.

12' - Good play from Nacho Bengochea on the right. He crosses the ball in to Esparza, but he is marginally offside. Great defending from Polaaskan.

14' - Jessica Marquez makes a poor pass on the left-hand side, and Leonardsen crosses is it in for Timo Heinckel who hits the post! Amazing chance for Polaaskan, unlucky for Heinckel.

18' - Mendoya have had two chances, and they've had one again! Esparza and Lopez have had their shots saved, and a stinging effort from centre-back Emilio Paredes hits the bar! But Petersen can scoop up the ball before a rebound can occur.

21' - And it's Paredes again! The centre-back is really firing shots tonight! Another 40 yard effort, which is a very long way out, hits the post. Mario Gomez, Mendoya's manager, doesn't look too impressed with Paredes' attacking play.

23' - Good chance for Polaaskan as Lukas Karlstrom whacks a shot towards goal, but it hits the bar. Lots of shots hitting the bar here, tonight. If it was the Crossbar Challenge, everyone would be doing very well.

26' - Free kick for Mendoya. Frans Laurensen trips Hernan Bengochea. Emilio Paredes takes it but Petersen palms it around the post for a Mendoyan corner.

29' - Shouts for a penalty as Patrik Ael appears to have been shoved down in the Mendoyan box! But the referee shakes his head and ignores the protests and shouts.

31' - ALMOST A GOAL! Polaaskan miss the chance to go 1-0 up! Iiro Mihaylov turns and twists away through the Mendoyan defence, before lashing a shot that goes JUST wide!

37' - Not much happening in the last few minutes. The game has been mainly dominated in the midfield. Laurensen, Mihaylov, Karlstrom and Leonardsen doing an excellent job for Polaaskan against Mendoya's five of Palomo, Lopez, Vazquez, Bengochea and other Bengochea.

39' - ALMOST A GOAL FOR MENDOYA, TOO! Vicente Esparza was one on one with Petersen but he scuffs his shot and Petersen can just collect that easily.

43' - Still 0-0 here in Montreal, tonight. Both teams looking solid, but only one can get through. Nacho Bengochea's shot rattles the crossbar (again) and Esparza misses a sitter. Goal kick.

45+1' - HALF TIME, POLAASKAN 0-0 MENDOYA

46' - And we are back for the second half. One change made by Mendoya. Camilo Avana comes into LCM for Pedro Lopez.

47' - Avana is really getting in the game. The substitute sees his shot just go wide of Teemu Petersen's right hand post.

49' - GOAAAAAAL! POLAASKAN! PATRIK AEL! Ael gets his second of the tournament! A fine pass from Lukas Karlstrom was received by Ael, who swerved around Mina Sanchez before hitting a thunderbolt into the back of Fabio Santillian.

51' - Substitute for Polaaskan. Jon van Axelsen comes on for Iiro Mihaylov.

55' - Good link-up play from Camilo Avana and Arturo Palomo down Mendoya's left hand side. They can get the ball into Esparza, who has been somewhat lacklustre tonight, who slams a shot around the post and out for a Polaa goal kick.

59' - CHANCE! Timo Heinckel knocks a pass towards Ael who fires over the bar.

62' - CHANCE! Mendoya have a great opportunity to equalise when left-back Machado crosses in and finds Esparza, who's looping header is saved by Teemu Petersen.

68' - OFFSIDE! Heinckel is offside after a great ball from Frans Laurensen, which cuts its way through the Mendoyan defence.

71' - Mendoyan substitutions coming on. Iván Moreno on for Vicente Esparza, and Christian Robles on for Alexis Vazquez.

73' - Polaaskan make their second substitution. Soren Kvist comes on for the goalscorer, Patrik Ael.

76' - ALMOST A SECOND! Soren Kvist hits a shot at the bar, then his rebound is saved by Fabio Santillian. Despite conceding one goal, the Mendoyan goalkeeper has been great tonight. Kvist looks quite sharp, too. The substitute was not expected to make the squad, but here he is.

79' - YELLOW CARD! Mikke Leonardsen is booked for a slightly late challenge on Emilio Paredes.

81' - PENALTY! Wait, no! Mendoya are screaming at the referee for a penalty, but is not given. Semshov just knocks Hernan Bengochea down in the penalty area, but is not given, and rightly so. Bengochea went down softly there.

84' - Final substitution for Polaaskan. Timo Heinckel makes way for the tallest striker on the team, Willem Jakobsen.

88' - Approaching full time here. If Polaaskan can hold out and win, they will either face Pine Island or Racao in the semi finals in Iqaluit.

89' - Three minutes of stoppage time to be added on.

90+2' - A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY FOR MENDOYA TO EQUALISE! Great play from Avana and Robles, finding Moreno who just shoots wide!

90+3' - FULL TIME! POLAASKAN GO TO THE SEMI FINALS! THERE THEY WILL FACE PINE ISLAND IN IQALUIT!

The quarter final is here, and two talented teams are playing in it. Racao finished in first in their group with ten points, and nine goals scored. They reached the final eight by defeating New Bordial 3-1, with an impressive attacking performance. Pine Island on the other hand, stayed unbeaten through their group, and scored 13 goals. Their last match was played with Daritii, a match that they won 4-1.

Racao has won the coin toss, and kicks off. The match is underway. Four minutes in, and Racao has a free kick, due to a dirty challenge by John Farley. Mosa will take the kick, and it's well wide. In the 9th, we see Pine Island attacking through the center for once. Gardner with the shot, and it hits the post! Racao with the counter attack, and leading it is Mena Rabalasoa. He enters the box, takes a shot and once again wide. Pine Island has the ball now in the 22nd, with Rory Bathurst. He crosses the ball, and Anthony Jackson heads it.. too high. 27 minutes in, and Racao has numbers forward. Mosa delivers a cross to Silvera Ravalomanana, who strikes the ball towards goal.. Hits the bar! 35th minute now, and Racao is looking dangerous. Aristotle Ipirina has the ball outside the box, shoots, and a great save by Kevin Saunders! Nasty challenge by Felix Manendry, 41 minutes in. Mitchell Nicolas takes the free kick. He lofts the ball over the wall, and scores! Pine Island takes the 1-0 lead 42 minutes in. Racao looks to have one more opportunity before half time. Manasoa, and Mosa play a one two. Manasoa receives the ball back, chips the ball, where Arivelo chests it down, shoots.., juuuuust over the bar.

The referee blows his whistle and signals for half time. Pine Island take a 1-0 lead into halftime, following a Mitchell Nicolas free kick goal. Possession rules in favor for Racao, 56%. The shots count is 8 for Racao, and 6 for Pine Island. We have seen no bookings thus far, and no major injuries. The match will continue after these commericials..

Racao and Pine Island retake the field for the second half. Pine Island kicks off, and they speedily run down the right wing, with Rory Bathurst. Bathurst chips the ball to Anthony Jackson, but he's offside. Good call there by the ref. 51 minutes in, and Racao is on a counter attack. Mena Rabalasoa is on the right wing, and is looking at his options. He finds Mosa, and crosses the ball to him. Mosa has the ball now, in the penalty box. He shots. and scores! 1-1 Racao, as they tie the game. 60 minutes past, and the game has turned into a dire midfield struggle. Pine Island is now in possession with Mitchell Nicolas on the ball. He crosses to the box, and Elvin Rodriguez heads towards goal..! Wide left of the target. 65 minutes in, and we have a substitution for Pine Island. Cleo Sotton enters for Anthony Jackson at the center forward position. Racao now in possession inside the box. Arivelo tries to cross the ball to Ravalomanana, but he is whistled offside. After several shirt tugging incidents, Sean Connors of Pine Island gets a yellow in the 73rd. The match reaches an uneventful period, with long balls being constantly cleared by both defenses. 86 minutes in, and Pine Island have a corner. Rory Bathurst takes it, and floats it far post. The ball is headed away by the Racaon defense, but is met outside the box by the feet of Cleo Sotton. Sotton looks up, shoots, and scores! 2-1 Pine Island, just in in the nick of time! Racao now after the kickoff have numbers moving forward, with Albert Manasoa on the left wing. He crosses to Mosa, who shoots, and hits the bar! What an effort! We are now in the last minute of play, and Racao have everyone forward, even their keeper for this corner. Mosa crosses the ball into the box, but it's an easy grab for Kevin Saunders. The referee blows his whistle, and this match has ended.

The two sides exchange handshakes, and go their separate ways.

In conclusion, we saw solid defending, but mediocre attacking from both sides. At times, the match reached a pause from any ball movement - instead we saw tons of high crosses, and too long through balls. By watching this match, we can judge it as a clean game with little fouls, and thankfully no major injuries for both teams. In the end, Pine Island advances with a 2-1 win to the semi-finals where they will play Polaaskan.
