OOC: Sorry that it seems to just be me posting at present, I'll condense everything else into this post.

Cape Quakers United 1–0 The Prince of Wales FC

Blaneu's two weakest sides faced off at the Community Ground in Crasi-y-Sarn. Theoretically the Quakers were playing at home, but as they share the ground with the Prince of Wales pub side, as well as East Cape and Pwhelli, this distinction is of no real importance. The Quakers were able to edge out their opponents, taking the lead after 20 minutes and holding on to it throughout.

Cape Quakers United 2–5 The Red Lion
Cape College FC 3–2 Police Force Sports Club
The Ruddy Duck FC 1–0 Penllech Villagers
Saint Mary's College FC 2–1 Portside AFC
Saint Tudwell's Island FC 0–0 Cape Methodists SC
Defi Rovers 1–0 Old Regisonians
Cape Catholic FC 0–1 Merion Regis Staff FC
Merion College FC 0–2 Riverside SC

The BFA Cup headed into full stride as the First Round kicked off. In the first fixture of the week Cape Quakers meeting with the Red Lion at the Community Ground drew and undue amount of attention for two not particularly good sides. The Quakers went one ahead, but a hattrick from The Red Lions Kitchen Porter, Jim Roland, saw them through to the Second Round. Elsewhere an unexpected turn of events came about in Merion, as Saint Mary's College side faced Portside AFC. The team consisting of schoolboys and teachers upset the struggling Top Division side as they went ahead early. Harry Norbitt put Portside back into the game with a stunning out of box effort, but their miserable season got worse as 43 year old school teacher Paul Wells deflected a spilled save into their net at the death. Whilst Portside had a miserable outing, the other top division sides had happier results. Defi Rovers faced the now weakened Old Regisonians and new signing Gethin Powell started to pay back his fee, tapping in a cross 35 minutes in to decide the match. Riverside SC were also in action, easily dismissing Merion College's side with a brace from expereinced goalscorer John Hartson.

Cape Methodists SC 2–0 Saint Tudwell's Island FC

The Methodists managed to hold Saint Tudwell's to a draw in their first match to get the 'home' fixture. This, as with the Quakers vs. Prince of Wales match is purely an academic distinction as they ground share the tiny ground called only 'The Park. They made full use of the designation, planting in two late goals to progress to the heady heights of Round 2.

West Cape Wanderers 0–0 Bay Road FC
Riverside SC 2–0 Bedha English
Pwhelli FC 1–2 Bedha Rangers
Portside AFC 0–0 Defi Rovers
Old Regisonians 1–0 East Cape FC
Mawford United 1–1 Island Blaze FC

After the break one would expect teams to try and come roaring back out of the blocks, but this was not so at the Isthmus arena. Wanderers faced second placed Bay Road, two teams who have both made moves in the transfer markets to shore up their sides. Both looked solid in a 0-0 encounter that was of very little interest to the away support, but one point apiece will probably keep them happy. Elsewhere and the race for Globe Cup spots remains pretty fuzzy, Bedha English were dispatched by a tenacious Riverside display in Longborth, whilst Mawford were forced to share the honours with the Island Blaze and East Cape slipped back with a last minute defeat to the Old Regisonians. Bedha Rangers probably had the most to shout about, their 2-1 dispatching of Pwhelli puts them just three points off a Globe Cup spot.

Mawford United 2–2 West Cape Wanderers
Island Blaze FC 4–2 Old Regisonians
East Cape FC 0–1 Portside AFC
Defi Rovers 4–0 Pwhelli FC
Bedha Rangers 3–3 Riverside SC
Bedha English 2–0 Bay Road FC

Well the plans of mice and men gang aft awry; after coming out of the first few fixtures unbeaten and second in the table East Cape gifted Portside only their second win of the season, with Portside edging a late goal to take home all the points. Elsewhere and the race for Globe Cup spots and the title still looks a little muddled, West Cape still lead the pack despite drawing to Mawford, but otherwise the other teams are tightly bunched. Only 4 points are betwen 3rd placed Bay Road and 8th placed East Cape, at this point its anyone's guess as to where anyone will land. Only Bedha English look like they could stride ahead, a commanding 2-0 win over Bay Road at Dovey Lane puts them four points short of West Cape. English's season has been particularly impressive given that their best player is older defender Red Vernon, they would do well to keep their managed Harry Gofdha going forward as his tactical calls this season have seen them playing we above expectation.

West Cape Wanderers 3–2 Bedha English
Bay Road FC 1–1 Bedha Rangers
Riverside SC 1–0 Defi Rovers
Pwhelli FC 2–2 East Cape FC
Portside AFC 1–0 Island Blaze FC
Old Regisonians 4–4 Mawford United

West Cape Wanderers are starting to pull away now, a 7 point lead at the top has them clear of the pack after beating second place Bedha English. This result may come to look decisive in future, and their signing of Fred Christiansson looks like smart maneuver as he managed to navigate a packed box to put them 1-0 up and put the ball on the head of Sparks for the winner. English may have lost, but the clubs trailing them failed to make hay, Bay Road squandered their opportunities in a draw with Rangers, a post rattler from Luke Evans at the death meaning they couldn't win. Elsewhere and Defi seem to struggle to get Gethin Powell much service, pinned back one-nil by a fluke Legadec goal they couldn't break down Riverside's defense. Old Regisonians continued to do more with less, meanwhile, as they came back from being behind 3 times in the second half to draw with Mawford.

Mawford United 3–2 Saint Mary's College FC
Defi Rovers 2–1 Bay Road FC
Merion Regis Staff FC 1–0 Riverside SC
Island Blaze 2–0 Cape Methodists SC
Pwhelli FC 2–0 Cape College FC
The Red Lion 2–4 Bedha Rangers
The Ruddy Duck FC 0–3 East Cape FC
Bedha English 2–2 West Cape Wanderers

In terms of shocks, this round produced one big one, with the staff of Merion Regis Uni managing to dispatch Top Division Riverside SC by hanging onto an early lead, and then defending very deep until the final whistle, to the delight of their 822 home fans. Elsewhere and top division sides managed to get through with relatively little trouble, East Cape's three-nil dismissal of the Ruddy Duck pub side was probably the most assured of these performances. In match-ups between Top Division opponents Defi Rovers came off the winners against Bay Road FC in a juicy clash. Goals from Elron and Driscoll made things comfortable, before Pottinger made things awkward late on. Elsewhere and Bedha English looked to be dispatching the stronger West Cape side in revenge for their league defeat, but a last minute equalizer courtesy of a Davis freekick sends that game to a replay at the Isthmus Arena.

Old Regisonians 2–6 West Cape Wanderers
Mawford United 0–2 Portside AFC
Island Blaze FC 1–0 Pwhelli FC
East Cape FC 3–1 Riverside SC
Defi Rovers 0–2 Bay Road FC
Bedha Rangers 1–2 Bedha English

West Cape Wanderers made their lead at the top of the table even more secure this week, thrashing Old Regisonians six-two on away ground. Their front three of Navarro, Davis and Christiansson sparkled with great backing from their strong midfield. At this point they look like they can win the league, and perhaps the cup if they get lucky. Elsewhere and Bay Road and Bedha English pulled clear of the pack a bit. Bay Road had a repeat of the cup match from last weekend, facing off against Defi Rovers away, and they were able to extract their revenge, with MacDaffyd and Pottinger both netting excellent poacher goals. Englsh, meanwhile, were both home and away, facing their stadium share rivals Rangers in the second derby day of the season. English were victors the previous time, and looked likely to repeat this feat, with Blackford heading them ahead 30 minutes in. A late equalizer from Le Coq made a draw seem likely, but a controversial penalty was awarded with just a minute to play, which Liam Smith netted in a cool fashion.

West Cape Wanderers 1–0 Bedha English

On away ground English looked to be holding out for extra time, but a late goal-mouth scramble saw John Ludlow net his first goal for his new club. Englsh wil have to content themselves with their strong run in the league, however Wanderers will now have a shot at the dream of doing the double.

West Cape Wanderers 5–3 Bedha Rangers
Bedha English 0–1 Defi Rovers
Bay Road FC 0–0 East Cape FC
Riverside SC 0–3 Island Blaze FC
Pwhelli FC 0–1 Mawford United
Portside AFC 0–0 Old Regisonians

West Cape Wanderers, take a bow, their performance this season has been superlative, with one of the strongest squads in the league they now go ten points clear at the top. Elsewhere and the race for Globe Cup positions remains tough, with Bay Road held to a draw other sides had an opportunity to catch up. Island Blaze SC certainly have snuck up on us, now in fourth and one point off a spot they thrashed Riverside SC 3-0. Elsewhere and Defi Rovers won a big six point against English, with Aaron Starkey netting an important goal. Mawford also strengthened their position with a narrow win over Pwhelli. Portside, meanwhile, whilst well off the pace to get anything out of this season have had a slightly better run of form, a draw with Old Regisonians means they're now unbeaten since the 9th week of the season.

12 Old Regisonians 16 4 3 9 27 46 −19 15

With six games left Wanderers now look almost unassailable on top of the league, ten points clear and with by far the best goal difference it's going to take an absolutely rotten run of form for them to not take the title. Elsewhere and anyone down to 8th must think that a Globe Cup spot won't be beyond them, a surprising array of clubs have done so, with Defi Rovers and East Cape FC struggling despite much larger budgets and stronger squads than those immediately ahead of them. Bedha English, the Island Blaze and Mawford all continue to outperform expectations and will be hoping a Globe Cup spot, and the associated revenue, will set them up well for next season.

Island Blaze FC 1–0 Bedha Rangers
East Cape FC 1–0 Pwhelli FC
Mawford United 2–3 Defi Rovers
West Cape Wanderers 1–0 Merion Regis Staff FC

No replays and no real surprises here, all those expected to progress go through. The match up between Island Blaze and Bedha Rangers was likely the tightest contest, eventually the firemen ground down Rangers and went through in front of a home crowd. East Cape dispatched Pwhelli, who's form has continued to dip as the season has progressed. Defi Rovers too went through, also a tricky 90 minutes against Mawford at the Knoll had to be navigated first, after taking a one-nil lead Rovers wobbled, and 4 goals went in during the last 20 minutes and Brett Evans looked like he could have won the game for Mawford, before a classy Fitzstephens effort put Defi through. Finally West Cape matched up against Merion Regis's University staff in a lopsided match up. However, the amateur team acquitted themselves very well, letting in only one goal against a side that has thrashed far stronger opposition. With these results in, the draw was conducted, giving us these fixtures for the semi final:

Defi Rovers vs. Island Blaze FC @ The Cauldron, Carnegie (3,750 Capacity)

The Blaneu Broadsheet

Bay Road Chairman Issues 'Zombie League' Warning

With the season heading towards a close, and his side seeming to be strongly in contention for a Globe Cup spot, Bay Road chairman Martin Taylor has issued a warning that the Blaneuan Top Division risks becoming a 'zombie league' after the next transfer window.

In an interview with the Merion Gazette Taylor warned that opening up the transfer market to allow other countries to purchase Blaneuan players would lead to the league being 'zombified' as richer, stronger clubs would pick off any talent for the league, leaving behind a string of second rate Blaneuans and over-the-hill foreign stars to contest it. He proposed that a cap should be set on the number of transfers a side can make abroad, forcing talent to be retained domestically. This intervention reflects the concerns of fans, the majority of whom seem worried that the standard of play will decrease, rather than improve, as Blaneu opens itself up to the international transfer market.

Not all clubs, however, will share this view. The outflow of talents for clubs such as West Cape Wanderers and Bay Road FC will level the playing field for other sides, so long as they hold onto their players, and may well result in a more competitive league overall, albeit one played at a lower standard.

Of the higher quality players in the Blaneuan league it is understood that many are itching to go and ply their trade abroad. Ojo Navarro, Gethin Powell, Aaron Starkey and Rhodri Apnest have all been fairly high profile moves this season already, but will most likely be once again looking for a home come the summer as they seek to improve their game and play at a higher standard.

Portside AFC 1–2 West Cape Wanderers
Old Regisonians 1–2 Pwhelli FC
Mawford United 2–1 Riverside SC
Island Blaze FC 0–1 Bay Road FC
East Cape FC 4–2 Bedha English
Defi Rovers 2–2 Bedha Rangers

West Cape continue to steam-roller their way through this season, Portside were seen off on home ground, bringing an end to a purple patch for them. Bay Road and Mawford, meanwhile, continue to bid for the two GC spots with victories, whilst Bedha English slipped to a defeat.

West Cape Wanderers 3–2 Defi Rovers
Bedha Rangers 0–0 East Cape FC
Bedha English 3–0 Island Blaze FC
Bay Road FC 1–0 Mawford United
Riverside SC 2–0 Old Regisonians
Pwhelli FC 0–4 Portside AFC

11 points clear with just four fixtures left, West Cape Wanderers have secured, at a minimum, a Globe Cup spot and need just two more points (if Bay Road have perfect end to the season) to win the title. Their standard of play has been outstanding this year and they can still potentially do the double. Their win came over Defi Rovers, the side touted as another title contender this year, but a side who have fallen well short of expectation this season despite having one of the most impressive squads. Elsewhere and Portside continued their impressive second half of the season, pummeling Pwhelli at the Community Ground.

East Cape FC 5–1 West Cape Wanderers
Defi Rovers 0–1 Island Blaze FC

Well West Cape have been denied the opportunity to pull off a historic double, an in spectacular fashion. East Cape ripped into their local rivals with a ferociousness that stunned those who had turned up. The game started in cagey fashion, East Cape's mid-season signing Rhodri Apnest opened the game up 10 minutes in, driving the ball in off the end of a good passing maneuver. West Cape hit back quickly, however, Fred Christiansson's head met a cross in from Davis to level affairs. Until the 30th minute things continued in fairly normal fashion, but then came a deluge. Caradog Gwent was first in, he received the ball in space outside the box after a corner was partially cleared, his spinning shot made it 2-1. Then, 1 minute later Ron Lemon received the ball at point blank range and doubled the lead. Just 2 minutes later and East Cape once again carved open the most expensive defense in the league, with Lemon again being the one to capitalize. The second half was quieter on goals, but a clumsily conceded penalty by MacDai topped a day of misery for West Cape as Lemon bagged a hattrick.

Across the island in the Cauldron and the other cup game went into full flow as well. Defi spent much of the game pressing the Island Blaze, a team lacking superstars but making up for it in team spirit. The deadlock was not broken until the 83rd minute, substitute striker Reece Dean scored his only goal so far this season after a through ball from Iolo Meredith parted Defi like the red sea. As full-time came Defi realized that all paths for them to Globe Cup qualification had now been severed, and along with this came the sacking of their manager, Bryn Morrison. Defi's season is ending miserably and given the level of community fundraising done thus far, fans may be wondering what the return to their investment has been exactly.

The final of the BFA Cup will be the last game of the year, as East Cape FC face off against the Island Blaze FC. As the largest stadium available which doesn't belong to either club, the Bayside Ground in Merion will be hosting.

Pwhelli FC 3–4 West Cape Wanderers
Portside AFC 3–1 Riverside SC
Old Regisonians 1–0 Bay Road FC
Mawford United 1–2 Bedha English
Island Blaze FC 2–2 Bedha Rangers
East Cape FC 2–2 Defi Rovers

With Bay Road losing to Old Regisonians West Cape Wanderers became the official champions of the Blaneuan Top Division for the 1986/87 season, and they managed to do so in style as a late brace from Lucas Sparks made them the victors at Pwhelli. With the title well and truly decided all attention turns to the race for the Globe Cup spots. Whilst Bay Road slid to a defeat, their point margin over those behind them remains at 5 points, with East Cape just behind them. In second and with an extra point over Bay Road are Bedha English, who have continued to surprise this season with their weaker squad. They took all three points in a six pointer against Mawford United, who are also chasing the GC pack and now fall five points behind.

West Cape Wanderers 1–2 East Cape FC
Defi Rovers 1–0 Island Blaze FC
Bedha Rangers 4–3 Mawford United
Bedha English 2–1 Old Regisonians
Bay Road FC 0–0 Portside AFC
Riverside SC 1–0 Pwhelli FC

West Cape suffer only their second defeat of the league season, this time to their rivals East Cape, who also had them outdone in the cup. Whilst the scoreline was less impressive, East Cape's performance was as much so. Despite a late consolation goal West Cape looked shut out of the match, and goals from Apnest and Pomeroy saw East Cape take a morale enhancing win. Elsewhere and Bedha English made their claim to a Globe Cup spot even more solid, at one-all against the weak Old Regisonians side they were aided by a late own-goal from teenager Moi Le Bris. Bay Road, meanwhile, lost ground as Portside held them to a goalless draw at the Bayside Ground. At just three points behind Bay Road East Cape remain in the chase, giving them a second path to qualification if they fall short against the Island Blaze in the BFA Cup Final.

Riverside SC 0–1 West Cape Wanderers
Pwhelli FC 0–1 Bay Road FC
Portside AFC 0–1 Bedha English
Old Regisonians 3–1 Bedha Rangers
Mawford United 0–0 Defi Rovers
Island Blaze FC 4–5 East Cape FC

Bedha English are the story of the week, their one-nil dispatching of Portside puts them in the Globe Cup next season in a very welcome result for a club that had low expectations going into the season. Their manager Harry Gofdha may well be in demand in the national set up, but looks likely to remain at Dovey Lane for another season. Elsewhere and Bay Road beating Pwhelli sets them up well to also qualify, however East Cape are three points and five goals behind them, a surmountable difference after 3 goals in the last 15 minutes up at Wendell Lane keeps them in the running.

West Cape Wanderers 4–3 Island Blaze FC
East Cape FC 4–3 Mawford United
Defi Rovers 2–2 Old Regisonians
Bedha Rangers 2–2 Portside AFC
Bedha English 0–1 Pwhelli FC
Bay Road FC 0–1 Riverside SC

In the final week West Cape saw the season off in style, dispatching the Island Blaze to defeat, although their opponents may be distracted by the prospect of facing East Cape in the final. Elsewhere and East Cape won against Mawford, but missed out on the Globe Cup spots as they were unable to make up the goal difference against Bay Road who lost to Riverside SC. Behind the top four and Defi Rovers shuffled to the top of the pack after drawing with the Old Regisonians, although every team out of the top four remains tightly bunched.

11 Pwhelli FC 22 6 4 12 21 28 −7 22
12 Old Regisonians 22 6 4 12 35 55 −20 22

With the season over West Cape Wanderers can reflect on a dominant campaign with pride. Barring the cup embarrassment to East Cape their season went off virtually without a hitch, reflected by their 13 point lead over their nearest rivals, and their +24 Goal Difference.

Bedha English and Bay Road both qualify for the Globe Cup, English coming as a particular shock with their squad considered middling, a lot of credit goes to Harry Gofdha who's management has helped them squeeze out the wins required. East Cape miss out narrowly, for now, although they'll hope the cup final can secure them a spot in international club football.

Back down the league and the remaining clubs are tightly bunched, only five points separating them. Barring Defi Rovers this was largely expected, although Portside deserve credit for catching up to the pack, and despite finishing last Old Regisonians have played well with very limited resources. Defi Rovers may well have blown their shot at being a big club for now, a lack of prize money and the drop off in attendance as their form soured have led to them falling short on loans, so they will have to sell off several high profile players to remain solvent. Finally, relegation for any side looks unlikely under the byzantine system as no team in the amateur leagues has pulled far ahead, and none progressed far in the cup, as well as no side in the top division falling that far behind.

East Cape FC 0–1 Island Blaze FC

Island Blaze pulled off another shock to take the BFA Cup. Their defense held out against the talents of Ron Lemon and Rhodri Apnest for good stretches of the match as they were pinned back. The winning goal came just after half-time as Mark Bowen headed home a corner, and East Cape were unable to find a way through. Consequently the Island Blaze will join Bay Road and Bedha English in the Globe Cup with a first eleven containing ten firemen (although a couple were also professional footballers beforehand).

Confederacy Cup 1

Postby Squornshelan Remnant States » Tue Aug 28, 2018 11:28 am

Inaugural Confederacy Cup Format and Results

Given that the total number of clubs competing under the SCFA is not a power of two, the first round of the Confederacy cup consists of the 24 League 2 teams and the 8 lowest finishers in League 1. The winners advance and are redrawn against the top 16 finishers in League 1. After the second round, there are no further reseedings, and all round consist of a two-legged home and home series, with the exception of the final. The winners of the League and Cup then play a two legged Super Cup to decide the Champions' League representative. The losing finalist qualifies for the Globe Cup, behind the second and third place League finishers. If the losing finalist also finished second or third in League 1, the fourth place finisher qualifies for the Globe Cup. Series B qualification always goes to the top finishers in League 2, except when one of them is a Confederacy Cup Finalist.

M46: Syneca AC 0–0 Traal Athletics
Traal Athletics win 4-1 on Aggregate

Final:
Lublova Reds 5–5 Traal Athletics (5–5 AET) (4–5 pen.)

A thrilling final: Lublova successfully draw Traal into a goal-fest, but after twice losing to the Molvanians in the League, the Flanian side eke out a win in the penalty shootout to complete the double in the inaugural SCFA season. We'll have to wait at least a year for our first Super Cup; Traal go to the Champions' Cup and Lublova must settle for a Globe Cup berth. Syneca AC very nearly completed a Cinderella story run to the final and Globe Cup, but fall just short, leaving Algolia AC to occupy the last qualifying spot. It will be interesting to see if Lopal Daror calls up any Syneca players to the national team after their superb run, which included upsets of Jaglan and Yassaca.

The new Liga Eraman is about to kick off. 12 teams will be vying for the first ever Liga Eraman title. Each team are allowed to have five (5) foreign players in which one (1) is allocated for Tanah Melayu foreign player slot.

On top of this, Liga Eraman teams will have a better reward to encourage them to capture the league title; a slot to showcase their talent to the world in the prestigious TakilQuip Champions’ League for the champion.

Teams are getting ready and plenty of stories in the lead to the season kick-off. Regional competitions were conducted to select the 12 teams to compete in Eraman highest level of football. The champion of each of the seven (7) regions in Eraman get an automatic slot to the top league while the seven (7) runner-up compete in a play-off for the final five (5) spots.

Let’s take a quick look at each team and see where they are.

Team: Royal Daulapura
Ground: Daulapura Stadium, Daulapura (45,000)
Main Sponsor: None
Manager: Igor Mismic (Khantari)
Expected Starting XI: Hunter Farewell (Khantari); Mardi Selamat, Dino Sapar, Edgardo Shiplett (Khantari), Waka Sentri; Putra Daulapura Suara (C), Margarito Bjorseth (Khantari), Jonah Rogers (Khantari); Awan Heli, Robb Honeyworth (Khantari), Biduk Serangga

Royal Daulapura are expected to be the team to beat. The team owned by Raja of Eraman is the wealthiest club in Eraman and is the only team taking full advantage of the foreign players’ quota. The team hired a 43 years old former Khantari Youth Academy and Rottor Lake FC manager, Igor Mismic as their new manager. The new manager made it clear he intends to put his own stamp on the club by bringing along five(5) Khantari national players , the national team second choice goalkeeper Hunter Farewell, veteran center back Edgardo Shiplett, veteran midfielder Margarito Bjorseth and two most promising young talent to ever come out of Khantari, midfielder Jonah Rogers and striker Robb Honeyworth. It is also worth to note that the prince of Eraman, Putra Daulapura Suara is playing and captaining the team.
__________

Team: Anara
Ground: Stadium Anara, Anara (25,000)
Main Sponsor: Gukki (high-end basket producer)
Manager: Bungsu Sula
Expected Starting XI: Sari Pada; Aliu Wuya, Badang Gangsa (C), Tabu Nawai, Dimsa Pulang; Kaya Diman, Mano Bosa, Alang Alang; Kilat Saputra, Buisan Buayan, Kudrat Saputra

Moving on to another team from the region of Daula, like Royal Daulapura, Anara also enter the competition brimming with confidence. Unlike Royal Daulapura though, Anara and every other team in the league doesn’t have the luxury of signing any foreign players. However, Anara boasts a number of the best Eramanian local talents with the likes of national team captain, Badang Gangsa and hotshot Kilat Saputra. The match against Royal Daulapura and Anara is expected to be a heated encounter as both teams are only located 55 kilometers from each other as well as Daulapura being the royal capital and Anara being the capital city of Eraman. It is dubbed as the Capital Derby as well as an encounter between the royalist and the administrator. Anara finished second in the Daula regional competition and top of the runner-up playoff.
__________

Team: Royal Arupura
Ground: Stadium Arupura, Arupura (20,000)
Main Sponsor: Lima Mata Ikan (frozen seafood brand)
Manager: Kitchi Diman
Expected Starting XI: Dundang Bayan; Kuda Bara, Mangu Data, Sarang Gani, Basil Tani; Marak Mata, Dela Sama (C), Magura Gano; Tawi Sana, Dava Kudrat, Harta Jenjali

Royal Arupura clinch the qualification to the league by winning the Aru regional competition. There is amazing quality in this team and one would expect them to finish strongly this season. Owned by the royalty of Aru, Royal Arupura is the second wealthiest club in the country but decided to put their confidence in an all-local team.
__________

Team: Haran
Ground: Stadium Haran, Haran (5,000)
Main Sponsor: Araka (liquor producer)
Manager: Wira Utama
Expected Starting XI: Nila Saputra; Jajar Semuka, Buana Sari, Handal Basar, Mindi Ketana; Merapi Jaga, Gegara Jaga, Lauti Jaga; Rana Wira, Pintas Dunya (C), Rano Wira

As if Haran’s financial issues were not enough, the recent news of losing their top scorer in the regional competition Pintas Dunya to injury is bound to hurt. According to Haran fan, the return of Pintas Dunya is key for Haran to get through the season. Haran finished second in the Aru regional competition and third in the runner-up playoff.
__________

Team: Royal Puncakpura
Ground: Stadium Puncakpura, Puncakpura (10,000)
Main Sponsor: Sungai Puncak (mineral water brand)
Manager: Sembara Bunian
Expected Starting XI: Selamat Gawang; Lipas Kudung, Gajah Radu, Badak Tari, Cicak Kudung; Rimau Belang (C), Panter Hitam, Beruang Surya; Helang Sayap, Serigala Jadi, Gagak Hitam

Royal Puncakpura finished first in the Puncak regional qualification and will be looking to push on. Royal Puncakpura fans feel that the team has a strong squad and predicted to put a strong challenge for the title. Outside of the region, not much is known about the highlanders as the region is pretty isolated from the rest of the country.
__________

Team: Sentari
Ground: Stadium Sentari, Sentari (5,000)
Main Sponsor: Sungai Puncak (mineral water brand)
Manager: Pintar Bestari
Expected Starting XI: Hansa Biru; Langit Surya, Was Was, Panter Hutan, Boromo Sari; Jengking Kari, Ganti Beria (C), Kuntau Berberu; Menri Haka, Sinar Budi, Bantu Muda

The other team from the region of Puncak is Sentari. Despite finishing second in the regional competition of Puncak, many expect Sentari to put up a strong performance in the Liga Eraman thanks to their powerful goal-scoring prowess en route to clinching the runner-up playoff qualification by finishing second behind Anara. Manager Pintar Bestari however was more cautious on the matter indicating that he is more focused on just surviving in the league for now.
__________

Team: Karibu
Ground: Stadium Karibu, Karibu (5,000)
Main Sponsor: Rokko (cigarette company)
Manager: Jimat Jamra
Expected Starting XI: Haras Tinggi; Meni Kala, Restu Muda, Padawan Tera (C), Citra Rajasa; Catat Berlian, Santira Beduk, Mulas Sintu; Pari Air, Bujang Ledibu, Liawa Sara

Karibu is another team without much funds and will be relying on more youth to step up. Rather than whine about it, manager Jimat Jamra has accepted his restrictions and molded his team accordingly to be the champion of Cittapura region. According to Karibu fans, they does not have big hopes for the season, however, based on the regional competition’s good performance, they do expect them to put on a good fight with the bigger teams. Although the team doesn’t have any big names, but with the commitment and high quality planning shown by the coach, they believe Karibu can raise their performances up another notch.
__________

Team: Royal Cittapura
Ground: Stadium Universiti Cittapura, Cittapura (15,000)
Main Sponsor: Universiti Cittapura (public university)
Manager: Nanta Jasa
Expected Starting XI: Yuyi Dunya (C); Popo Rasini, Liku Kalra, Rending Kedipi, Halili Srijasa; Ergol Kali, Kuma Dawin, Entulu Bintang; Waris Budi, Kekal Hari, Citra Awan

The runner-up of Cittapura regional qualifying, Royal Cittapura are not expected to have any ambitious targets for the inaugural season focusing more on survival. The team is owned by the royalty of Citta who is known to have no interest in sport and is quite extreme in the pursuit of knowledge thus the city being dubbed as the City of Wisdom for housing a number of universities and libraries. The city has trained generation after generation of scholars but no sportsman. Royal Cittapura finished fourth in the runner-up playoff.
__________

Team: Royal Baktipura
Ground: Stadium Baktipura, Baktipura (7,500)
Main Sponsor: None
Manager: Budi Kerti
Expected Starting XI: Astasi Bendi; Buyugo Kadasi, Mahayo Mames, Matapang Mapapa, Napona Neko; Bulan Sentri, Sueto Bebas, Tasi Taotao; Tasina Surya (C), Malam Andini, Liwagu Bentara

Royal Baktipura is more known as a pilgrimage city for religious Eramanian rather than football. But unlike the more established teams, Royal Baktipura may just squeeze through to safety on the final matchday of the league. First of all, in the capable hands of monk, famous preacher and manager Budi Kerti, the team consistently defied the odds by finishing champion of Bakti region despite fielding mostly young and unknown players. Royal Baktipura are looking to continue their giant-killing feat.
__________

Team: Damaisari
Ground: Stadium Damaisari, Damaisari (5,000)
Main Sponsor: Rotan Era (basket producer)
Manager: Tiwa Tani
Expected Starting XI: Amanaki Abisy; Feleti Arshis (C), Isileli Hiva, Kailau Hahao, Kapo Kaivai; Lami Koloa, Malohi Tane, Tavake Tuva; Ate Bintu, Adiputra Surya, Agung Basuki

Damaisari is expected to be the champion of the region of Bakti but was shocked by the emergence of Royal Baktipura and has to settle qualifying to the league from a runner-up playoff spot by finishing fourth behind Anara, Sentari and Haran. The rural town of Damaisari is home to just over 50,000 people but a mad on football. It is said that Damaisari is the birthplace of football in Eraman.
__________

Team: Royal Vidyapura
Ground: Stadium Universiti Vidyapura, Vidyapura (10,000)

Royal Vidyapura will participate in the first ever Liga Eraman with a young squad. It’s always nice to see teams relying on young talent but it is admitted that decision was made partly due to lack of funds. Royal Vidyapura is another team owned by a royalty who has not much interest in sport but due to demand from the people, he put up a team as the sole representation from the region of Vidya who is more known for universities and libraries much like Cittapura.

Team: Royal Pasirpura
Ground: Stadium Pasirpura, Pasirpura (15,000)
Main Sponsor: Nafsu (public brothel)
Manager: Mele Mililani
Expected Starting XI: Pazhani Nainoa; Nana Moke, Pekelo Puna (C), Malo Maui, Makai Lahana; Kuane Kualili, Konani Nipela, Lohana Kepler; Loha Kilani, Nana Maola, Puni Wika

There were joys all over the country for travelling fans after hearing the news of Royal Pasirpura clinching the qualification spot by winning the Pasir regional competition. That is because Pasirpura is known as the resort city as well as the red-light city of Eraman. Judging by the lacklustre performance in the regional competition and the fact that the runner-up of Pasir region, Dinisurya failure to secure a single point in the runner-up playoff, not much is expected from Royal Pasirpura except for giving away 3-points and STD infections to the other teams competing.

Cosumar (COS) final site bids
Globe Cup 69: Alesund Stadion, Samotath (60.000)
The Venue: The new home of FC Samotath, Alesund Stadion was completed less than a decade ago to upgrade Samo's old crumbling stadium. Its technology and shape were intentionally designed to be "Futuristic" and match the iconic black-glass architecture of the rest of Samotath. From the walls to the floors, everything inside is black...except for select red seats in the lower bowl that spell FC SAMOTATH. It's also equipped for advanced pyrotechnics and has the largest video screen in Cosumar.

The Area: Cosumar's northernmost major city, Samotath is the last bastion of civilization before the heavily-populated eastern seaboard segues abruptly into the enchanted wilderness of the northern peninsula. It is an important sailor's city, often the first stop for ships arriving from countries to the north like Chromatika, and is also home to the Cosumar Navy. Samotath is known for its harsh winds, as it is the only major east coast city that is not shielded from the ocean gales by Klyde Isle. Before Cosumar was unified four centuries ago, Samotath was the epicenter of many important dynasties in the northern region. Historical sites remain from those ancient times such as Lochinvar Castle, famously nestled in a rocky cliff face. The primary draw to the city, however, is nature. It borders the southern edge of the famous Cosumarite Azure Dragon Reserve, which sprawls across most of the northern peninsula. If you can brave the bitter winds, the many hiking or horseback trips around the reserve's border are exquisite (going further inland not advised because dragons, which you might spot in the distant sky if you're lucky). The landscape around Samotath consists of ancient hills, small rocky mountains, jagged cliffs and mysterious karst and rock-spire formations, all thickly forested by pine and other evergreen trees. These deep, dark forests are thought to have mystical properties and are holy in some old folk religions of the region. Samotath itself is known for its uniform style of architecture - most of the large buildings are solid black steel or dark glass. It makes for a rather badass skyline, which you can see why clicking the linked image.

LIGA ERAMAN REVIEW

The early season favourite, Royal Daulapura prove to be too good for any of the Eramanian teams as they steamrolled through the league with 17 wins out of 22 games with an undefeated record at home only losing to Royal Puncakpura and Haran away from home. Khantari 21 years old hotshot Robb Honeyworth became the first ever top goalscorer in Liga Eraman scoring half of Royal Daulapura 66 goals.

The side from the capital city, Anara are only five (5) points away from the champion with defeat at home against mid-table Haran and away at bottom-side Royal Cittapura proven to be costly. Joining them to the Globe Cup are the highlanders Royal Puncakpura and the rural side of Damaisari.

At the other end of the table, the two (2) royal teams from Eraman center of wisdom fail to live up to the challenge as both Royal Cittapura and Royal Vidyapura are relegated to Liga 2.

Liga Eraman Standings

11 Royal Vidyapura 22 5 6 11 10 23 -13 21 R
12 Royal Cittapura 22 5 5 12 15 42 -27 20 R

Royal Cittapura and Royal Vidyapura places in Liga Eraman will be taken by another side from the Daula region, Galra who top the Liga 2 in style with 19 wins out of 22 games. Galra will be joined by Malkan from Aru region making Daula and Aru the only region with 3 teams in the top division.

Armo of Vidya region and Dinisurya of Pasir region have to say good bye to league football as they were relegated from the Liga 2. Their places in Liga 2 will be taken by Sarkesh of Daula region and Jagal of Aru region.

Liga 2 Eraman Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Galra 22 19 0 3 49 17 +32 57 P

There was an upset in Eraman Cup as Royal Daulapura lost away from home in the mountainous region of Puncak to Royal Puncakpura in the first leg of Eraman Cup final. A thunderous 25 meters strike from team captain Rimau Belang and a header from Gajah Radu put Royal Puncakpura in a very good position for the return leg.

The second leg saw Royal Puncakpura play a very deep defensive line to frustrate the league champion. A goal from counter-attack by Royal Puncakpura in the first half put the travelling fans in hysteria as they are on course to win the first Eraman Cup. Royal Daulapura import from Khantari, Robb Honeyworth pull one back deep in the second half but it is proven to be no more than a consolation for the league champion.

Eraman Cup Final

Royal Puncakpura 2-0 Royal Daulapura (2-0 agg)
Royal Daulapura 1-1 Royal Puncakpura (1-3 agg)

Before Askerispor, Benzespor, and Savaspor founded in 90's, football fans in Benzani support Dalfspor or other neighboring cities club such as Mahkamasaray and Alsimaspor. Most of them become Dalfspor fan since it was the most successful team in the league. Some of them still support the same team today while the majority decided to support the local teams.

MegaLeague season archives: 1
The MONTPRES Tinhampton Megaleague - Season 2*
Are YOU wasting away your time and money gambling? GambleResponsibly.ti. Over 18s only.
We had to put that statement there because this league is sponsored by a bookmakers'. OK?

*Trigger OOC warning: For roleplay purposes, assume that this league was organised after World Cup 81/Cup of Harmony 73.
IC warning: Now with 100% less amateur than the previous recipe!
The Tinhampton Megaleague, comprised of a bunch of Sunday League teams, two new teams (the Civil Engineers and Northern Thunderstorms, since you asked so politely), and one meta-reserve team.. erm, much less confusing this season. The league winners enter the UICA Champions Cup, the cup winners enter the Cygnus Cup, and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams enter the UICA Globe Cup.

However... If one of the GC qualifiers wins the cup, they will surrender their GC place to the runners-up in favour of a CWC place. In addition, if both finalists are in two of those three spots, then the GC place will go to the 5th-place outfit, no matter who comes out trumps. The league winner never surrenders their CC place. You see, it really isn't that confusing... ;)

  • Eleven Retinues SC is a general sports club, mostly football, named as such "because we are allowed to do so". None of them are known to be bodyguards. Often stylised "Zero Retinas" by irate football fans everywhere, for their seeming inability to make passes from distances any closer than 20 yards... and botching most of the ones they do get right. How they are so successful is allegedly only known to Elune. Because Eleven Retinues are that kinda club.
  • Tin City Rejects is the alternative name used by Tinhampton City's C team. Yes, that's not even the reserves... that's the reserves for the reserves. Contrary to popular belief, "Illegitimi non carborundum" is the official motto of The Rejected Realms, not the Tin City Rejects. And that's just of the people that have even heard of the latter entity...
  • Westpark Guns are another general football club. The Ryan's Garage Arena formerly played host to Tinhampton's home games, and will probably do so again in the interim. Until now, a shoddy Sunday-league team. Very few of them own guns.
  • Nuclear Geese are a bunch of vaguely-experienced Tinhamptonian ex-non-Tinhampton-City players in the upper stages of the "non-league pyramid" in the realm of real-life. None of them, of course, have geese with nukes.
  • Midtown Pals, unusually, is actually a group of pals from Tinhampton city centre. Or, at least, that's what it was like in 1976 when the club was founded.
  • Refinery Hills SC has always had a large following from the city's miners. But mostly the refiners. Because it's called Refinery Hills.
  • Vertos United... of course you said Vertos Campus, Tinhampton University!
  • New Lions Club is "the foreigner's club". Sure, some Tinhamptonians, but mainly foreign "mercenaries" from Neokarta, Demanams, Nuli, even New Islet, etc., which some say have drenched the soul out of the club. The only club in the league with foreign players, not due to protectionist policies but due to wages. Oh, did I tell you that Tinhampton's league has some of the most route-one, low-quality football known to man? That's why nobody seems to get anything more than a couple of hundred quid a month. Literally everybody has a second job.
  • The Northern Thunderstorms are another group of half-decent mates who decided to get together and play. Well, that and the TFA offered them the gig as a pill-sweetener during the 2017 player strike.
  • Civil Engineers FC are a team of engineers, in essence, although it has to be admitted that you will not see many of them sorting out the problems with your dwelling any time soon. Same backstory as the Thunderstorms.

Defi Rovers Launch Gender Parity Lawsuit

Defi Rovers new chairman, Dennis Wilkins, has wasted no time in launching his fairly radical plan of reform for the club, and the league. On his first day in charge he has filed a lawsuit with the Court of Merion against the restrictions in place that prevent women from playing on men's sides in the top amateur divisions and the Top Division of Blaneuan football. These plans have drawn praise from some quarters, but have received skepticism from the Chairman's association, the BFA and even the Women Players Association.

Wilkins took control of Defi Rovers after a season that saw them perform well under expectations, despite a very talented squad. The club is rumored to be in debt, and independent observers believe that it is currently in excess of £3 million, leaving the club financially vulnerable. Most believe that this is what lies behind the move, as drafting female footballers into their side will allow Defi to sell off more expensive players and hence break even.

Wilkins cuts an interesting figure, I met him in his office inside the Cauldron, home of Defi. He has grey hair, looking increasingly thin, and the 70 year old is bespectacled, which makes his eyes look large, and probing. When asked he doesn't beat around the bush, "the club is in debt for sure, and consequently we're going to have to sell a lot of players to get back on an even keel. Fortunately for us, female players are currently undervalued in the market at large, we could snap up the 11 best female footballers in this country for less than 10% of the cost of buying even 11 average male footballers. They may not yet play at the same level as men, but we're fairly confident that they could get up to a high standard fairly quickly, in fact many nations that have qualified for the World Cup employ female footballers." I asked him whether or not he thought he might win the lawsuit, and he seemed confident, believing that the current gender segregation of football in Blaneu violated the Human Right's and Equality acts passed in the last couple of years.

Elsewhere and the lawsuit has created a degree of consternation. The BFA have not commented publicly yet, but many have privately derided the plan, believing that women will not be able to compete on the same level as male footballers.

Interestingly, the plan has also drawn the ire of the Women's association. They believe that such a move will keep female footballers crowded out without their own league, instead playing second fiddle to male players and not gaining valuable experience.

Whatever the outcome, Defi seem to have picked a direction, their back up plan appears to be to buy up cheap youth players, and reinvest some of the sales in improving their training and youth facilities. Without promotion or relegation yet a fixture in the Top Division, it will be interesting to see if the American tactic of a team 'tanking' really will allow them to become competitive again in the long run.

Manager of the Year: Leonid Proietti (SBO)

1. Sainati Bohemien
Preferred Starting XI (4-2-3-1): 1 - Spake (CMT); 2 - Trebelclef, 5 - Salling (AUD), 19 - Rivera, 3 - Mon (AUD); 6 - Nero (c), 4 - Thiel (BRE); 15 - Livia (DRK), 22 - Perrin, 10 - Spinozo; 11 - Carayol
Bohemien! Bohemien did not just beat all-comers this year; they battered them. Sainati, Dinamo, Duredain (twice), Stade-National, Hussards and Aznavour were all beaten by four clear goals; Stade were earlier smashed by five. Proietti marshalled his team diligently at the back, too, with the rock-hard foreign core of shot-stopper Spake, hardened centre-half Salling (accompanied by a local revelation in 21-year old Francismar Rivera, a genuine hope for the future in national colours) and the burly Brenecian midfielder, Rhyan Thiel, gave a creative, fluid group of attackers the freedom to flourish, and uncapped 29-year old striker Gloria Carayol up front became an unlikely heroine. It was the colossal Livia, however, who was the real key to the side, with either guile or brute strength able to unsettle defences reliably. Worthy Premiers!

2. Dinamo Sainati
Preferred Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Boumediene (SLL), 2 - Lampecia (DAI), 5 - Cash (BSE), 18 - Germain, 22 - Legati; 19 - Brookes-Qureshi (EFL), 23 - Diogo Melo (c), 15 - Badjou, 16 - Donatello; 9 - Proulx, 14 - Naga (DAI)
Dinamo - still with the controversy of naturalised captain Diogo Melo commanding the midfield - racked up a fair few impressive scorelines themselves. Amelie Pernaud set them out to play aggressive, assertive football, like an inferior cousin of the Nepharim Premiership, and managed to unsettle Askari defences that still trend towards the fragile and small. As has been the theme of the season, happily for the national team, young players in the clever leftback Legati and industrious midfielder Badjou should encourage Askari. On the whole, though, Dinamo continue to reap the rewards of keeping an experienced and cynical core together for years.

3. AC Sainati
Preferred Starting XI (4-3-1-2): 1 - Brillante; 19 - Hammesfahr (COS), 18 - Sixpence (BRE), 6 - Kosciel, 3 - Licor (FFD); 12 - Lyndis (DAI), 7 - Lauren, 14 - Guzman; 10 - Saravay; 9 - Ambrosi, 15 - Tahar (SCT)
Sylvain Becali, enemy of football, would probably have been satisfied to have a team that did not dazzle. He built from the back, as ever, with the same core that robbed the Hussards of the final last year; two Askari internationals in Brillante and Kosciel supplemented by three internationals. But it was not by any means the sharpest in the league, as a weak midfield undercut them. They were able to defeat Tout-Puissant Outremont of Marianne 4-3 on aggregate in the CdC before being edged out on away goals by Eastern Star, a very respectable performance, but it is doubtful that such an imbalanced, lightweight squad run by a mad craven can seriously challenge in postseason.

4. Grigio Calcio
Preferred Starting XI (4-3-1-2): 1 - Salvatici; 19 - L’Arachel, 5 - Myers (SLL), 3 - Ferraro (SLL), 17 - Marian; 5 - Musumeci, 16 - Radcliffe (EFL), 10 - Corrado; 23 - Letonien (SLL); 14 - Aranha (DAI), 11 - Martinet
Only once all season did Grigio score more than twice, in a 3-0 win over the Hussards; only once, beaten 4-1 by Dinamo, did they concede more than twice. At one stage, they chalked up five draws in a row. Can Grigio’s fans really be content with this? Optimists would point to an excellent defensive unit, the best defensive record in the league, with the Llamanean centre-halves Myers and Ferraro rarely putting a step wrong, shielded expertly by Radcliffe and guarding Pierrick Salvatici, the veteran goalkeeper who will be hanging up his gloves after finals. But Letonien, whose job was to link the strikers to the play, failed to do so. Aranha and Martinet both stagnated to some degree, though they did the best with the scraps they were given. Musumeci, the diligent local water-carrier with a neat touch on the ball, might harbour hopes of a move abroad. Grigio might just jank the championship.

5. FC Elan
Preferred Starting XI (4-3-1-2): 1 - Caragin; 23 - Bajardi, 5 - Osgood (AFT), 18 - Conchione, 12 - Volante; 11 - Urynt-Trenj (QUS), 19 - Uber (CMT), 8 - Mantovani; 7 - Riaz (EFL); 13 - Bernardi, 10 - Caceres (DAI)
Elan won their first four without conceding a goal, were unbeaten until the 11th matchday and generally their form in the first half was nothing short of spectacular. But just as the quiet, unassuming club with a loud, vibrant fanbase started to dream, their form stuttered and died. A young and energetic team was solidified by the veteran Osgood, arguably the league’s best defender, and the cunning midfielders Urynt-Trenj and Mantovani. Burly Daineri forward Caceres battered the league into submission in the first half of the season before collapsing in the second with just three goals from his last sixteen matches. Most impressively, though, it was the youth - locals Bajardi, Caragin and Conchione in a stern defence, the plucky Uber covering the midfield and, most of all, the flashy 19-year old Eastfielder Gisella Riaz who is already rumoured to have caught the eye of a number of Nepharim First Division clubs. Elan are finally going somewhere.

6. SSC Honneur
Preferred Starting XI (4-3-1-2): 1 - Marchegiano; 2 - Sastra, 5 - Killebrew (COS), 22 - Barone, 23 - Walsh (EFL); 20 - Bosi, 7 - Estanche (DAI), 10 - Ullman (PDN), 11 - Ghislain; 9 - Bustinza, 15 - Rush (COS)
SSC Honneur had a rather dreary path to finals - four goals occured in their first four games before a sudden 6-4 defeat to Dinamo, in which Rush missed a penalty and Estanche had another saved by Boumediene, racked up their goal count on both sides. The age of their side counted against them - Bustinza and Rush would have been an excellent strike partnership three years ago, but go into the playoffs aged 33 and 35 - indeed, Shaamila Walsh, now 30, is the youngest of their recruits. They paid for this in a lack of speed and dynamism, though they were unfailingly solid at the back and had, through Ullman, an X-Factor of creativity at times and especially through set pieces.

The Rest
Crespoli
didn’t really do a whole lot last season either way. Like many sides this season, they opted to try and prioritise youth. That is, outside of their defence. Roma and Leone are perhaps past their prime, as was the 34-year old import Abu, and Gerard Bellini struggled to step up to regular starts in goal. Up front, they were reliable, but rarely sparkled outside the winger Raihani.
Unfortunately, Hussards were perhaps still heartbroken from being robbed of the Championship last season. They also struggled after losing their best player, Emeraude Tanner. The amiable veteran from Qusmo, Meron-Drolx, became a popular figure with Hussards’ fans, but despite their clean passing, their lack of legs - and, for that matter, the aging Martin, Kouros, Luter and even Sabbadin - just seemed to confirm the team was past its best.
Dunelan scored the fewest goals of any team in the league, despite the travails of the lonely Drawkish loanee Petrina Gardener up front. Unfortunately, though they were respectable enough across the season, Dunelan simply lacked personality and bite. 20-year old holding midfielder Ravanna Ballarin was the bright spot of the season.
Duredain were the third of the three teams mired on 36 points, their fans continuing to just sort of be happy to be here. An entirely local midfield proved inadequate to cover their aging defence or supply their forwards, though Jane Martiez again proved a sprightly, lively striker who scored half of their 26 goals. She, too, has foreign eyes on her.
Stade-National continue to underachieve. They conceded 13 goals in the space of two matches against Bohemien and Sainati, and scored only twice that number all season. Their foreigners were all poor, none of them reliable or skilled enough to make the difference. That’s a good sign for the league; it’s a bad one for Stade, who have to sweep the board clean again.
Out of nowhere, Aznavour endured a miserable season, going through three managers. They had slid somewhat last season, but they were utterly dreadful here. Repeatedly pasted by teams, including a 9-0 crushing by Dinamo Sainati - the largest victory margin in Legaskari’s short history - made for a humiliating season. A clearout before next season, surely.

PRELIMINARY FINALS
AC Sainati 1-1 SSC Honneur (1-2 AET)
Grigio Calcio 2-0 FC Elan

Yes! AC Sainati became victims of karma! Despite taking an early lead over Honneur, an admittedly sharp goal as Lyndis found space and whipped a low shot across Marchegiano, Sainati declined to seriously threaten to increase their lead. Granted, Honneur were saved by an incredible double save from Marchegiano to deny Tahar, but shortly after Claire Ghislain sprinted down, past Hammesfahr, and drifted in a high cross that the veteran Otto Rush ate up, chested down and fired past Brillante! This in the 79th minute, and Honneur only pressed higher and harder, Ullman hitting a post before, in extra time, Rush turned provider - his tidy backheel opening up space for veteran Daineri midfielder Estanche to hammer home!

Less of a shock when Elan took on Grigio. They had struggled for a while to get traction, and their poor, toothless form continued. They had plenty of the ball, but everyone’s radar was badly off, Caceres with a horror miss from four yards, Pierrick Salvatici easily took care of strikes from outside the box, and in the second half, Grigio won out. Aranha won a penalty and Radcliffe converted, before Letonien’s corner span past a flapping Caragin and met Tim Ferraro’s stooping header at the far post.

SEMI-FINALS
Sainati Bohemien 2-1 SSC Honneur
Dinamo Sainati 2-2 Grigio Calcio (2-3 AET)

Honneur managed to take Bohemien down to the wire. Things looked fairly standard for Bohemien when a poor pass by Ullman was cut out by Thiel, recycled to Nero who hammered a diagonal cross for Maggie Livia to head home at the far post. Five minutes in. Just two minutes later, though, the Bohemien fell asleep, allowing Ullman to make amends with a drilled low finish past Spake, and suddenly things were spicy. Bohemien couldn’t get up a rhythm, and only the saves of Spake and wayward finishing of Rush and Bustinza, and the substitute forward Beatrice Montana, kept Bohemien in the game. Still, it was with a sense of grim inevitability that Livia hammered home her second, muscling past Walsh and thumping the winner past Marchegiano at his near post.

Dinamo, meanwhile, forced Grigio out of their shell when Brookes-Qureshi’s low cross was ineptly turned into Grigio’s net by their own defender, the luckless Jessica Myers. Myers made up for it, somewhat - nodding on countryman Letonien’s corner to the far post, where Aranha was waiting to sweep home, and Aranha would play the hero yet again on the stroke of half-time, bravely taking on the towering Germain and Cash, breaking between them and tapping the ball between Boumediene’s legs. Dinamo clung to life in the 90th minute, Aston Badjou trying his luck from distance and arrowing the ball into the underside of the post, where it caromed into the earth - over the line? The referees said so, replays confirmed it, Grigio’s hearts were broken. But not for long, as Aranha played provider for Gudjon Letonien to slide home an extra-time winner.

GRAND FINAL
Sainati Bohemien 2-0 Grigio Calcio

The grand final was perhaps the most anti-climactic of the finals, as it happened. Grigio rely on the counterattack to chalk up opportunities, and Rhyan Thiel’s one-man remit to destroy Letonien ensured the supply line was broken. Grigio almost grabbed the first goal, even so, Trinculo Musumeci lashing a low strike at Spake’s near post, and she mixed up her hands, didn’t convincingly parry it away… but even then, she flapped it onto the post, and Rivera was there to sweep away the rebound. Three minutes later, Bohemien were ahead, the underrated Perrin finding a giant hole in their defences, Mon finding Perrin, and Perrin finding the top corner. On the stroke of half-time, the lead was doubled by a diving header from Carayol that just about glanced Mon’s cross past Salvatici, who just couldn’t get down fast enough. Unfortunately for Grigio, they barely laid a glove on Bohemien in the second half, Thiel and Nero dominant in midfield, Salling and Rivera putting out the fires that remained. But Bohemien were deserving champions, and Bianca Nero richly deserved to lift the trophy at the end of it. Victory to the newcomers! And glory to an ever-improving league, after a season where locals stepped up time and again for all twelve clubs. Long may the Legaskari continue.

ANL Season 27b Review

With the second half of the season completed, we have a surprise winner of the ANL for the first time since the hiatus ended, with Barbury Town beating out the traditional "big three" to record their first title win in 8 seasons.

Alan Eustathios has worked wonders with his unfancied side based off a strong defensive foundation and swift counters, with the ever improving Jarls Magarhatery and ruthless in front of goal Aldo Vocani up front trusted to be the sparks to get the team the goals. Magarhatery in particular has been very impressive this season and has translated his previously patchy form into consistent performances and making him the key behind the whole title win. Eustathios has greater ambitions for this side though, stating after the final game of the season that "this team has the potential to go on and achieve something special. They're a great group of lads and I'm hoping to establish us in the highest echelons of Apoxian football for some time." Big words indeed.

Gwinevra Barbarians recovered from their poor start to the second half to finish strongly, with Miriam Oakstone-Sandoval having another good season for the club as Chris Maarsden tries to move the side away from the classical defensive Gwinevra playing style. They've got probably the strongest team on paper in the league, and they came close to winning a record extending 9th ANL title, were it not for points dropped carelessly against lesser opposition.

Dwile Warriors continued to under perform slightly, with Moon Dust not being able to magic up a first post hiatus title for a team which traditionally considers itself the biggest in Apox. Big overhauls of personnel are expected in the off season, as the team at present is currently quite old and slow, with Marcy Blake-Tatum unable to shoulder the scoring burden required of her alone up front, with Kel Koromin looking a shadow of his former self this season. FC Endeavour also struggled, amid points of a falling out between manager Kjn Volgisrhaad and star striker Winston Arrowsmith mid way through the year. Arrowsmith continued on but you could sense his heart is no longer in the project and he will likely leave the club in the off season, along with manager Volgisrhaad, for whom time is likely up.

Another surprise package is Exton F.C in the final UICA spot, Tolgus Tregajorran seeming to carry on the tend with EOT managers in being slightly eccentric, taking on the role of personal mentor and guru to troubled striker Jhon Mercurier through out the season, and entertaining all with random and occasionally bizarre outbursts from the technical area and in press interviews. However, it seemed to work as they team did well this season to beat off a number of "bigger" clubs to UICA football.

Oldem Knights fell away into 8th in the end, much to the consternation of Axe the Dominant in the dugout - the popular but controversial manager being usually no more than a match or two after from a touchline ban for some minor altercation with an official or torrent of abuse to the press. Perhaps time is running out on his unorthodox methods at New Alpaca Grove? Wofford Town will probably be slightly disappointed with a 10th placed finish in the end after some big, big wins in the early part of the second half. However, they were ultimately undone by inconsistency and when they lost it was usually a battering. Armando Quillisi still has plenty of tactical changes to make before they can contend for UICA more consistently.

It was generally a poor year for teams trying to model Dwile Warrior's expansive play, with both Issington F.C and Calshott Lighthouse being relegated to ANL2 next season despite playing attractive and flowing football and Wrexton struggling for form and consistency throughout the season. One exception to this rule was AFC United of Cierbanor, the promoted side playing flowing football all year and finishing a very respectable ninth in the end, defying critics who might have pegged them for relegation before the year began.

The new format of splitting the Apoxian football season over two seasons has come under criticism though, with clubs from the lower tiers in particular complaining about the relatively low numbers of games. A meeting of the IFA has been called to discuss this issue, and the potential for further changes to the calendar, or perhaps a revertion to the previous format remains on the table.
