With six games left Wanderers now look almost unassailable on top of the league, ten points clear and with by far the best goal difference it's going to take an absolutely rotten run of form for them to not take the title. Elsewhere and anyone down to 8th must think that a Globe Cup spot won't be beyond them, a surprising array of clubs have done so, with Defi Rovers and East Cape FC struggling despite much larger budgets and stronger squads than those immediately ahead of them. Bedha English, the Island Blaze and Mawford all continue to outperform expectations and will be hoping a Globe Cup spot, and the associated revenue, will set them up well for next season.

Bay Road Chairman Issues 'Zombie League' Warning
With the season heading towards a close, and his side seeming to be strongly in contention for a Globe Cup spot, Bay Road chairman Martin Taylor has issued a warning that the Blaneuan Top Division risks becoming a 'zombie league' after the next transfer window.
In an interview with the Merion Gazette Taylor warned that opening up the transfer market to allow other countries to purchase Blaneuan players would lead to the league being 'zombified' as richer, stronger clubs would pick off any talent for the league, leaving behind a string of second rate Blaneuans and over-the-hill foreign stars to contest it. He proposed that a cap should be set on the number of transfers a side can make abroad, forcing talent to be retained domestically. This intervention reflects the concerns of fans, the majority of whom seem worried that the standard of play will decrease, rather than improve, as Blaneu opens itself up to the international transfer market.
Not all clubs, however, will share this view. The outflow of talents for clubs such as West Cape Wanderers and Bay Road FC will level the playing field for other sides, so long as they hold onto their players, and may well result in a more competitive league overall, albeit one played at a lower standard.
Of the higher quality players in the Blaneuan league it is understood that many are itching to go and ply their trade abroad. Ojo Navarro, Gethin Powell, Aaron Starkey and Rhodri Apnest have all been fairly high profile moves this season already, but will most likely be once again looking for a home come the summer as they seek to improve their game and play at a higher standard.

With the season over West Cape Wanderers can reflect on a dominant campaign with pride. Barring the cup embarrassment to East Cape their season went off virtually without a hitch, reflected by their 13 point lead over their nearest rivals, and their +24 Goal Difference.
Bedha English and Bay Road both qualify for the Globe Cup, English coming as a particular shock with their squad considered middling, a lot of credit goes to Harry Gofdha who's management has helped them squeeze out the wins required. East Cape miss out narrowly, for now, although they'll hope the cup final can secure them a spot in international club football.
Back down the league and the remaining clubs are tightly bunched, only five points separating them. Barring Defi Rovers this was largely expected, although Portside deserve credit for catching up to the pack, and despite finishing last Old Regisonians have played well with very limited resources. Defi Rovers may well have blown their shot at being a big club for now, a lack of prize money and the drop off in attendance as their form soured have led to them falling short on loans, so they will have to sell off several high profile players to remain solvent. Finally, relegation for any side looks unlikely under the byzantine system as no team in the amateur leagues has pulled far ahead, and none progressed far in the cup, as well as no side in the top division falling that far behind.
