Olympia FC 1-1 Tanrisal (Pasarga)
1st IFCF Challengers Cup Quarter-Finals 1st Leg
Royal Jam FC 2-2 Keppal Cosmos (Zwangzug)
1st IFCF Liga B Champions Trophy Quarter-Finals 1st Leg
Snowden River (Brenecia) 3-2 Seniors FC
The next three competition’s worth of quarter-finals kick off, and is anyone getting a sense of déjà vu in the Champions League? Olympia and Tanrisal must be getting sick of the sight of each other, as they meet for the fourth time this season out of what will be 6 meetings now. And it’s another familiar scoreline, as the two play out the third 1-1 draw, and the fourth draw overall, in four games; this time it’s Lucas Stepanov with the equalising goal. In the Challengers Cup, there’s another draw! This time between Royal Jam and their visitors Keppal Cosmos of Zwangzug. It’s a fairly even contest, as both sides take the lead in the second half before settling at a 2-2 draw, a result that will suit the visitors perfectly fine. As for Seniors, well they may have met their match in Brenecia as they take on Snowden River, the hosts running up a two goal lead in the first half before allowing Seniors back into the game with a defensive mistake. 3-2 loss on the road isn’t terrible, with 2 away goals to play with at home.
Seniors FC (T1) 1-1 Low Lyn FC (T4) (1-2 AET)
FC Tavernia (T2) 3-1 Benopia AC (T3)
Pontifucia United (T2) 1-0 Copper Communists SC (T1)
Indionion Athletic (T2) 0-0 RGS Athletic (T1) (0-1 AET)
The final 8, 4 matches to decide the top four teams in the country. Three Premier League teams have reached this point, and somewhat miraculously, only one of them makes it into the semis. RGS actually need extra time to do so as well, as Second Division leaders Indionion shut down the Premier League leaders’ attack for 98 minutes, before Miranda Gail finally forces the breakthrough. The Communists fare little better however, as Pontifucia United manage to dominate the match, although the home side were very wasteful - a single goal was all they managed, but enough to make semis. Seniors have somehow made it to the quarter-finals in two competitions this season, and yet are struggling to survive in the league. But one of their journeys end here, as Fourth Division side Low Lyn FC make it into the Semi-Finals with an extra time comeback win. An omen for the LBCT, perhaps? And last but not least, Second Division FC Tavernia were the only side not to struggle against a lower league opponent, easily batting aside Benopia AC 3-1.
Olympia FC 1-1 Tanrisal (AGG: 3-3; Olympia FC advance on away goals)
Match number 5 between these two sides sees a fifth consecutive draw between them as well, as Rigby Headley opens the scoring with a long range effort. Tanrisal equalise, but thanks to the only 2-2 draw in their 4 previous draws, Olympia have more away goals and enter the Copa de Campeones Semi-Finals.
Seaton Town 2-0 Walston Brook Albion
Royal Jam FC 1-0 UR Town
Xilon OC 0-0 Norrion Rovers
FM Town 0-1 VLC FC
Monksville United 0-3 Olympia FC
Seniors FC 0-3 Tuntingone FC
Yillog City 2-4 Nile Bridge
Copper Communists SC 0-5 RGS Athletic
RGS are keen to get back on form, and they do so in style as they put fellow cup quarter-finalists Copper Communists to the sword, a 5-0 away win keeping them top. Olympia keep chase, a Stepan brace helping them see off a now possibly dispirited Seniors side. Royal Jam manage to scrape past UR Town, but the relegation battlers put up a good fight, Ashley Laycock having to come to the Jam Town side’s rescue several times. But Norrion falter in their race for relevance, as Xilon grab a big point in their race for survival. VLC also struggled, but they managed to see off FM Town’s challenge. Forums are awash with the realisation from Big 5 fans after the KCC quarter-finals that, in order to probably guarantee an IFCF place next season, they’ll need RGS to win a trophy. Swings and roundabouts.
Tanrisal 1-1 Olympia FC (AET: 1-1; AGG: 2-2; Tanrisal win PKs 3-2)
1st IFCF Challengers Cup Quarter-Finals 2nd Leg
Keppal Cosmos 1-0 Royal Jam FC (AGG: 3-2)
1st IFCF Liga B Champions Trophy Quarter-Finals 2nd Leg
Seniors FC 0-0 Snowden River (AGG: 2-3)
These two must be getting sick of the sight of each other. Olympia and Tanrisal meet for the sixth, and definitely the last, time of the season, and the third time in two weeks, in the Champions League quarter-final second leg. And as it happens, it’s draw number 6, and a fifth 1-1 draw as well, in what must be the statistical footballing miracle of the century. This time Ármin Harry has to claw Olympia back into the match with a goalmouth scramble, and this time the tie goes to penalties, where it’s the host’s turn to prevail. So, in three sets of matches, we have one tie (Champions League group stages, although Olympia topped the group), one Olympia win (Copa de Campeones QF) and one Tanrisal win (here). Truly an equal fixture. Elsewhere, Royal Jam also get knocked out of the quarter-finals, as Keppal Cosmos take advantage of the visitors’ need for a win and grab a goal on the counter before shutting the match down. And as for Seniors, their squad morale has taken massive body blows lately, so it’s not surprise they couldn’t find the one goal they needed at home to beat Snowden River, the Brenecians holding out for a goalless draw.
UR Town 2-5 Seaton Town
Norrion Rovers 2-0 Walston Brook Albion
VLC FC 0-1 Royal Jam FC
Olympia FC 4-1 Xilon OC
Tuntingone FC 1-1 FM Town
Nile Bridge 0-1 Monksville United
RGS Athletic 4-0 Seniors FC
Copper Communists SC 1-1 Yillog City
No change at the summit this week, as both RGS and Olympia score 4 goals in their matches against the relegation battlers, with Xilon fairing slightly better with a consolation against Olympia - Seniors recent form just keeps getting worse and worse however; it looks like all the fight has left them. Royal Jam keep track of the leaders as they emerge victorious in a key game, outdefending and beating VLC on the road to stay three off the top. Norrion move into fourth as a result, after they saw off Albion earlier in the weekend. At the bottom of the table, Yillog finally get their ninth point of the season after they managed to come back and draw against the Communists, but still remain 8 from safety.
Harbor 2-1 Tuntingone FC (AGG: 2-3)
Tuntingone book their place in the Vilitan Cove Invitational Semi-Finals after a close second leg loss against Harbor, the Mriinian side wiping out Tuntingone’s lead in the first half before the visitors managed to grab a vital away goal in the second half, Maureo Fahmy providing the winner.
Seaton Town 3-0 Norrion Rovers
UR Town 1-0 VLC FC
Walston Brook Albion 2-0 Olympia FC
Royal Jam FC 1-1 Tuntingone FC
Xilon OC 1-6 Nile Bridge
FM Town 1-1 RGS Athletic
Monksville United 0-0 Copper Communists SC
Seniors FC 1-0 Yillog City
Cat, meet pigeons. A whole heap of results that makes the races at both the top and the bottom a lot more interesting. Firstly, we’ll start with the league leaders, as RGS lose track of the script as FM not only don’t get thrashed, but actually manage to draw the league leaders, Angelo’s header cancelling out Cousin’s opener. Even more off-piste was Albion’s 2 goal victory over Olympia, meaning they fall behind first place by a whole point. Royal Jam can capitalise, and in the story of the season, fail to, as Tuntingone celebrate the VCI semi-final appearance by scrapping out a draw. Norrion and VLC both have the opportunity to catch up to the leading pack, and they both fail to as well! VLC narrowly lose out to UR Town, the city of Walston Brook having fun this weekend, whilst Norrion get thrashed in Seaton. At the bottom, Seniors also beat the rather doomed Yillog, whilst Xilon are thrashed 6-1 by Nile Bridge, meaning that UR Town move of the relegation places for the first time in forever, leapfrogging Xilon, and leaving Seniors only 3 points off safety themselves. As for Yillog, well, 9 points from safety with 15 to play for. The trapdoor beckons.
Olympia FC 4-3 Laketown Rangers (Taeshan)
The first set of semi-finals this season sees Olympia host Taeshan’s Laketown Rangers in the Copa de Campeones in what ends up as an extremely attacking affair, both sides very clinical with their chances. Laketown took the early lead through a headed effort, before Zaaid Stepan and Almundina Bawany turned proceedings around. Natasa Horvat added a third in the second half, before Laketown pulled it back to 3-3. Substitute Wallis-Iqbal settled the match though, scoring with his third touch in the 74th minute with a lashed long range effort into the far bottom corner. 4-3 aggregate lead, everything to play for.
VLC FC 1-0 Seaton Town
Olympia FC 1-1 Norrion Rovers
Tuntingone FC 5-1 UR Town
Nile Bridge 6-0 Walston Brook Albion
RGS Athletic 0-1 Royal Jam FC
Copper Communists SC 1-1 Xilon OC
Yillog City 2-3 FM Town
Seniors FC 1-0 Monksville United
RGS are felled once again! The league leaders cannot catch a break lately, this time as Royal Jam come calling and defend their way to three points, a result that sees the 3 time champions move level on points with the league leaders. Also joining the top on 56 points are Olympia, who spurned the chance to take the league lead after they were held to a home draw by Norrion. They fall into fifth after being leapfrogged by VLC who themselves struggled past Seaton Town, leaving 5 points covering the top 5 as we head into the final four games of the season. Nile Bridge meanwhile register the big score of the day, putting 6 past a normally sturdy Albion defence, a result that sees them move past Seaton into sixth. At the bottom, there’s a three-way tie on points, after Seniors managed to grab their fifth win of the season at home to Monksville, which sees them move into 14th on goal difference ahead of Xilon, 2 goals behind after their away draw in Copportopia. UR Town remain out of the relegation zone by a goal differential of over 30, despite losing 5-1 to Tuntingone.
Pontifucia United (T2) 0-6 RGS Athletic (T1)
Low Lyn FC (T4) 1-1 FC Tavernia (T2) (1-2 AET)
The Semi-Final stage of the King’s Commonwealth Cup, one match between these four teams and a date with destiny in New Lodger City. And two very contrasting matches to boot. First off, Second Division side Pontifucia United hosted the remaining Premier League team in the competition, as RGS went to Twilight Haven, but Grazain Castle ended up being pretty quiet by the end, save for a few thousand RGS fans, cheering on the team after an Aiden Pearson hat-trick helped RGS steamroll their way into the final. Over in Unified Macaroni, Fourth Division side Low Lyn were dreaming big of a massive day in their rather low-key history. Their opponents were one time cup winners FC Tavernia, the Second Division side hoping for a repeat of their cup triumph 17 years ago. It was a close match, neither side really being able to assert their dominance on proceedings, but the favourites struck first, Quentin Clegg losing his marker to head home Julien Islam’s floated cross. Bria Whittemore brought the hosts back level in the second half, picking Oliveria Molla’s pocket before chipping Corinne Ritchie. 1-1 it stayed, up until extra time, where Laurens Halliwell beat the keeper with a one time effort, putting FC Tavernia into the final for only the second time.
@ Marine World Park, Crosaibi, Vilita
Baskita FC (Pasarga) 3-2 Tuntingone FC
The final semi-final of the regular season kicked off in Vilita, as per VCI custom. Tuntingone faced off against Baskita in a single leg winner takes all contest, and it was the Eastfielders that started off the better of the two sides, Emerald Waterson breaking the deadlock with a free kick, before Baskita rallied and ran riot, speedy passing carving open the Tuntingone defence twice in the first half. Baskita scored a third shortly before the hour mark, and Tuntingone were left needing two to force extra time. Baskita defended well though, leaving Tuntingone with the consolation goal from Fahmy in the final few seconds. A hard-fought loss, but Tuntingone can at least go home happy with the performance.
Seaton Town 0-1 Olympia FC
VLC FC 1-1 Tuntingone FC
Norrion Rovers 3-0 Nile Bridge
UR Town 1-4 RGS Athletic
Walston Brook Albion 0-1 Copper Communists SC
Royal Jam FC 2-1 Yillog City
Xilon OC 2-0 Seniors FC
FM Town 0-1 Monksville United
RGS make sure they stay top of the pile by thrashing UR Town, a result that bodes doubly ill for the relegation battlers as Xilon score a vital win against Seniors in the relegation 6-pointer, moving the hosts out of the bottom three at the Walston Brook sides expense. Xilon’s win means we also have our first confirmed relegation of the season, as Yillog City get sent back to the Second Division after their loss to title challengers Royal Jam. Olympia also stay in second after an early goal was enough to secure a win over Seaton. Norrion keep their pace 5 points off with a big win over Nile Bridge, but VLC may just have stuffed their title challenge, falling to 6 points off the top after Tuntingone fight back to a draw.
Laketown Rangers 0-1 Olympia FC (AGG: 3-5)
The second leg of the Copa de Campeones sees Olympia travel to Taeshan with a narrow lead to hold on to. Laketown try and grab the lead they need, but Olympia manage to strike on the counter, Thijn Persson’s long clearance reaching Lucas Stepanov who slotted it past the Laketown keeper. The match stayed 1-0, despite pressure from the hosts, and Olympia reach their first Copa de Campeones final at the first time of asking.
Tuntingone FC 1-0 Seaton Town
Nile Bridge 4-1 Olympia FC
RGS Athletic 0-1 VLC FC
Copper Communists SC 1-5 Norrion Rovers
Yillog City 1-4 UR Town
Seniors FC 0-2 Walston Brook Albion
Monksville United 0-1 Royal Jam FC
FM Town 1-2 Xilon OC
That thing we said about VLC scrapping their title challenge? Well, maybe they weren’t quite done yet. The second Lodger City derby of the season, in the King Iqbal II Stadium, goes the way of the visitors, as VLC strike a massive blow in the title race with a Geraldene Benjamin penalty. Second place Olympia? Well, they manage to one-up RGS, in the wrong way, as they contrive to be demolished on the road in Bridgetown, Nile Bridge putting up their challenge to be best of the rest with a 4-1 victory. So who leads now? In step Royal Jam, with a no-nonsense and controlled 1-0 victory in Monksville, putting them 3 clear of RGS and Olympia with 6 points to go. Norrion thrash the Communists 5-1 to stay in the hunt, a further two points back, whilst VLC still stay in hunt, albeit just, a point behind Norrion, and 6 off the top with 6 to play for. At the bottom, Xilon may just have found form at the death - they come from behind to beat FM Town, keeping them 3 points ahead of UR Town after they demolished already relegated Yillog City. Seniors lose their way against Albion, a 2-0 loss all but mathematically condemning them.
Seaton Town 5-1 Nile Bridge
Tuntingone FC 3-5 RGS Athletic
Olympia FC 5-0 Copper Communists SC
VLC FC 1-0 Yillog City
Norrion Rovers 3-0 Seniors FC
UR Town 1-1 Monksville United
Walston Brook Albion 0-0 FM Town
Royal Jam FC 1-1 Xilon OC
The title is going down to the wire! Xilon have, somehow, recovered from being demolished 14-2 by UR Town earlier in the season to taking points off the league leaders, as they force Royal Jam into a score draw, a result that at least guarantees the leaders a top four finish. It’s a result that sees Seniors FC go down at the first time of asking, although they would have gone down anyway as they were soundly beaten by Norrion Rovers, who just about stay in the title race. VLC on the other hand are out of it, as they needed Royal Jam to lose both matches, so a 1-0 win over Yillog keeps them within distance of the Champions League places (mathematically) Wins for RGS and Olympia keep them in the hunt as well, although RGS were made to work for it as Tuntingone pushed them all the way in a 5-3 result. Back to the bottom, UR Town are still in it, as they draw against Monksville, but 3 points off is 3 points off. Here’s how the table looks heading into the final day:

Not wanting to be outdone, the Second Division has been equally as gripping at both the top and bottom as the Premier League. There are 4 teams vying for the title, but in a weird twist of fixtures, only 2 teams vying for the remaining promotion spot and the place in next season’s LBCT. It’s the same four teams that have been dominating all season, headed up by Indionion Athletic, who have been leading from the front with 4 wins and a draw in the last 7 - in fact they had a chance to all but wrap the title up in their penultimate match, a chance to move 3 points clear of the pack as they fell by a single goal to 7th place Toclofania - they’ll also be rueing their loss a few matches earlier to already relegated Approciation FC. Still, they rule the roost at this point, although on goal difference only, as Polkation sit behind them level on points, 5 wins and 2 losses in the last 7 games meaning they have caught up to the leaders after their abysmal start to the season. However, they’re also spurned chances to be clear at the top, with 2 losses in the last 3 games to Micronopia, who have always been just that little bit off the top pack all season, and Pontifucia, who have had an entirely forgettable league campaign as they head towards a midtable finish.
Behind them, two teams a point off the top and with a lot to prove. Half Boy FC have now worked themselves into the promotion spots, ahead of Oldbridge FC courtesy of the 4-1 victory earlier in the season in their only meeting so far - these two teams will be facing each other in a winner takes all showdown. As they both also have worse goal difference than the sides above them, there’s no way either can overtake Indionion and Polkation with a draw, the top two are guaranteed promotion into the top flight and a place in the LBCT next season, but both can still miss out on the title. Both Oldbridge and Half Boy have matched their records almost down to a T over the last 7 games, both winning 4 and drawing 2 - Half Boy have only fared slightly better in terms of goal difference, by one, enough to put them ahead on head-to-head. Oldbridge can still count themselves lucky to be in this title race in all honesty, as going into the penultimate match they were 4 points off the top, but all three of Indionion, Polkation and Half Boy losing allows them another chance to finally reach the top flight.
As mentioned earlier, Micronopia were always that one step behind the leading pack, and it stayed that even until now, as they sit 5 points off the top, having been knocked out of the title race two match ago where they lost to Indionion. Their form over the last few games have been comparable to the top four as well, with 4 wins and a draw in the last 7, but just not enough at the right time. FC Tavernia will have been disappointed not to be higher in the table, but they can rebuild and fight next season, and they still have a cup final to look forward to. At the bottom, it’s been an abysmal couple of months for NT United, who only managed to pick 2 points in the last 7 games with draws against Jam Mountain Island and FC Tavernia in the last two games - it’s form that has seen them not only relegated, but threaten to finish behind an Approciation side that has actually been awful all season. As for Forest Rangers, their losing streak ended at 14, leaving them 6 points from safety. They’ve since recovered, with 2 wins and a draw pulling them up to 3 points from safety, but they’ll need fate to turn their way on the final day to overhaul Jam Mountain Island.
