It is time, once again, for the return of the world championship of Canadian football. Signups and host bidding are now open, once again. Bids should, at a minimum, include the important OOC details. The deadline for host bids will be one week from the time of this post, to allow the tournament to be run prior to the start of World Cup 69, should the host so desire. Puppets may be signed up and must be declared, with a limit of 1 puppet per user, but the decision on whether to include puppets will be up to the host.

This post also counts as a signup for the 2-time defending champions.

Hosting Experience;

Hi. I have decided to host bid for The Maple Leaf Bowl III. I think that this tournament could be fun and a new experience to me. This is the first MLB that I will be participating in. So already I am excited. At the moment I am hosting The 2nd Nationstates Athletics Championships with 10 people and over 100 medals. In the future, I will be hosting a tier 1 event in The Association of Tennis professionals League. As I put on every bid I do, I have hosted previous tennis events, previous athletics event and such but it is getting quite tedious. This tournament will boost my hosting experience in NSSports.

Format;

Judging on the amount of nations that taken part in the past, (16 in the second edition, 12 in the first edition) 14 is the average. But to make life easier, I would accept 16 nations to participate in this tournament. (20 if more nations suddenly come along) Like the previous tournament, countries will be split in to 4 group of 4 nations and they will play each other in the round robins. In this tournament I wouldn't do a second round robin because it is not needed. The top 2 countries would advance to the Ro8 or quarter finals. In the quarter finals. Group 4 will play Group 2 and Group 1 will play Group 3. The winners will be in the top 4. This is the semi Finals. 2 matches will go on. The winner of each match will play in the finals whilst the losers will play in the 3rd Place Match.

I plan to start this tournament in July, around mid-late July.

Day 2- Round Robin 2 (1 vs 3) (2 v 4)
Day 3- Round Robin 3 (1 vs 4) (3 v 2)
Day 4- Rest Day
Day 5- The Quarter Finals 1 (Group 1 Winner V Group 3 Runner Up) (Group 1 runner up V Group 3 winner)
Day 6- The Quarter Finals 2 (Group 2 winner V Group 4 runner up) (Group 2 runner up vs Group 4 winner)
Day 7- Semi Finals (Quarter Finals Winner 1 Vs Quarter Finals Winner 3) (Quarter finals winner 2 vs Quarter finals winner 4)
Day 8- Rest Day
Day 9- Third Place and Finals.

Scorination;

Right, I would be using Xkoranate 0.33 because I have been practising and I am pretty confident with it.

RP Bonus;

I will be using a RP grade between 0-5. I will be using a 3rd party nation to help me on this so that this is a fair game. Plus, the cuttoff time will be at least 30 minutes before the results so any RP after the cuttoff will be brought forward to the next day, if they are playing the next day. Plus, If anyone likes someones RP they can TG and I will review the RP probably giving the RP a higher grade.

Tiebrakers

What will happen if two countries are in the same position? Well I will simply use the H2H record, Point Differents and if it is still the same, like The Maple Bowl last time,

Estope Bid for Maple Leaf Bowl III

Format:

Group Stage:
- Ideally 4 groups with 4 teams in each group however could change depending on number of signups.
- Group stage will be double-round robin (Meaning every team will play each other twice). All games will be played in Estope.
- The top two in each group will advance to the playoffs

Tiebreakers:
- Head-to-head record
- Overall point differential
- Head-to-head point differential
- Tiebreaker game

Playoffs:
- All games will be played in Estope
- It will be an 8 team single elimination format
- The 4 Group winners will be matched up against the 4 runner-ups
- Each team will be seeded based on their performance in Group play with the group winners getting seeds 1-4 and the runner-ups getting seed 4-8.
- These seeds will carry over to the finals, there will be no reseeding after each round.
- A third place game will be played on the same day as the finals.

Scorination/RP:

Xkoranate (version 0.3.3) will also be used. RP Bonus will be cumulative and will never degrade, not even after the group stages. They will be graded on quality over quantity. They will be scaled from 0-2 to allow for more points to be given to better written RPs. No bonus will be given to RPs that ignore one's permissions. Posting a roster will count as an additional RP worth more than an average RP, up to 3. They will also be scaled so that more developed rosters will earn more of a bonus than just a list of starter's names. Cut off times will be announced later if this bid is selected.

About the Host:

I have previously hosted World Bowl 23 and the Estope Open (tennis). I am very familiar with using scorinators from my domestic baseball, and sometimes soccer, league. I have been part of NS Sports for a little over a year and a half and during that time have read a lot of RPs. While I might not be the best, or most consistent, RPer, I am capable of judging RPs and assigning fair RP bonuses. I am very familiar with American football, not so much Canadian, but I have been reading up to understand the rules.

IC:
Canadian football is a virtually nonexistent sport in Estope, although we are big fans of American football. In fact, our nation believes to be bidding to host another American football tournament and our team entered is actually an American football team. Expect many mistakes to be made by the tournament organizers as they struggle to correct their mistakes last minute. This will not affect scorination at all but will be an RP opportunity to show what a poorly run tournament it will be. All games will be played in Estope. Twin Brooks is the capital and the location of Freeport Field, the home of Estope football, Inzer-Bare Stadium, the soccer team's home ground, and JP United Park, a baseball stadium that can be converted to be used as a football field. Eldora is home to the Smithfield Dome, an indoor football stadium. Fort Moore will host teams playing at West Memorial Stadium, a soccer stadium. And Port Falls is the final city with a brand new multisport stadium, Ultra Bank Field. More info will be given if this bid is selected.
