Blacksen Domination stood in the centre circle, idly bouncing the ball with the palm of his right hand: his team in their positions, the referee nervously glancing around, fans booing. The reason for their annoyance, of course, was the fact that the team from Wray had still not turned up.
5 minutes should have gone already now.
10 minutes.
"Where the hell are they?" Blacksen asked, glaring at the referee.
"Dressing room," he responded. "Apparently, they're chatting to each other."

The ref tried, but he could not stop the heavily-scarred goalkeeper Mickie Roper thumping up the tunnel, and banging on the opposition dressing room door.
It was Liam Catalan who was unlucky enough to open the door, and he did so into the glaring eyes of 7 ft 3 inches of muscle.
"What do you think you're doing?" Roper growled.
"We're finalising...we're finalising tactics."
"You're now 13 minutes late," he reminded the opposition player, "And we're waiting. Now, I want to play this game, so get the fuck out."

Roper smashed the door into Catalan's face, opened it and smashed it in their again. He walked briskly out back into his goal, and waited.

The team from Wray trooped out, Catalan's nose looking smashed flat against his face.
"Good evening!" Blacksen shouted. "16 minutes late. We've got people waiting! What the fuck do you think you're doing!"
"What does He think he's doing?" shouted Catalan, pointing an accusing finger at Mickie Roper.
"Keeping goal," Laura Mccabe said, as Blacksen ushered the bloody man over for the coin toss.
Wray kicked off.

Moowatting kicked off, straight at 9 year old Sarah Court, who simply stood their, 40 yards from the goal. What was she doing? Blacksen thought.
Catalan came in extremely quickly for someone with a smashed flat nose, taking up her manouvering space. Courts foot moved back and smashed the ball. It rose, flew forward and dipped...Macandie stood no chance. Over his head: he didn't even jump. 1-0
Blacksen ran forward to congratulate the young child on the superb goal, but the kickoff was already up and heading at Isaac deames who ran forward and laid in Mitchell Aston. Aston thumped the ball under the body of the diving Mickie Roper for the equaliser. 1-1

Domination ran forward at blinding pace, and was played in by the experienced Demit Cronan. By this point, it was obvious that he had not really got any defenders to pass. Mitchell Aston was already behind him, and Liam Catalan's eyes were beginning to swell closed. It was depressingly easy for him to place the ball past Macandies left leg.
2-1

And it happened again. Cronan...Domination...past Catalan so easily...goal.
3-1
The game was becoming painful for the home fans now as the kickoff went straight to Demit Cronan. The Vakolicci passed into a Velstranian in Sarah Court who just volleyed the ball between the legs of the hapless goalkeeper.

It was a mercy when the whistle went: 4-1.

Vakolicci tennis: what has happened?

Selav Tukerawan: played 1, won 1
Tommy brun: played 2, won 2
Luciano Ziccardino IV: played 1, won 1
Lian Morgan: played 1, won 1
Martin Shearman: played 1, won 1
Total: played 6, won 6

Despite the hipe surrounding John Humph's blitzing the Decathlon, it is quite possible that the highlight of the ongoing King Paulus XV memorial games is currently Vakolicci tennis. Another unbeaten day sees Vakolicci tennis continue another unbeaten run, as or 5 men and 1 woman squad continues to go toe-to-toe with the best in the world.

Analysts who have been watching the recent matches have sited the meating between Lian Morgan and the 8-year-old Luciano Ziccardino IV from Celeria a the crunch match that will determine who, if not all, of the Vakolicci squad continue out of the group stages.

Colonel Selav Tukerawan, 38, Vakolicci number 1, told the Sporting monitor "I believe that at the moment, we are in a great position. Their isn't much better we could do really: just keep on winning."
Of course, the sporting monitor wishes our tennis players the best of luck in the games ahead.

To the Centralis Herald,

Your condemnation of the nation of Saintland, after the security measures issued by officials of Saintland are unjust, idiotic, and based on libel. Virginia Lorenzo, the Republic's flagbearer and a tennis player participating in the games, reported no violation of her body by the police. She said that they were doing just what they had to do in the name of security, and did it professionally and very well. Yet you claim that these women were "violated". In addition, who are you to tell any nation their own policy? Saintland, a very religious nation, has its policy concerning gender equality, and you have yours. Please, have some respect for Westphalian sovereignty, and let Saintland be. Finally, your hideous insult toward the late, great King Paulus XV is disgusting ("a contrived glorification for their dead leader at best"). I ask you to rescind the editorial concerning the King Paulus XV Memorial Games, published on June 18th, 2014. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Chairman of the Olympic Committee Samson Balducci

MNN Breaking News

*MNN = Miley News Network

Miley World woke up in turmoil this morning as our largest city, Mileywood, has seceded from Miley World. The "provisional gorvernment" of Mileywood has published its declaration of independence, which I'm about to read. So here's the declaration of independence of Mileywood:

We feel that we don't have enough freedom in Miley World. Smilers in Mileywood and all around the country are frequently being arrested and sent in rehabilitation centers just because they're smoking some weed, showing some skin and having too much fun. We sent a dozen of petitions, we held some demonstrations in the steets of Mileywood but the government of Miley World has done nothing about it. They still have their out of date anti smoking policies that they passed in 2011. And Her Majesty Queen Miley Ray Cyrus is too busy smoking weed that she doesn't care about how Miley World is ruled. We want more freedom and we solemnly declare:

1. That from this day forward the people of Mileywood are absolved of all allegience to Miley World, and that all political ties between that power and Mileywood have ceased as of this day.

2. That Mileywood shall take the form of a republican government and, as such, declares itself a republic.

3. That in Mileywood we can do what we want, we can say what we want, we can love who we want, we can kiss who we want, we can sing what we want.

4. That in Mileywood we like to party, dancing with Molly, doing whatever we want. This is our house, this is our rules.

5. That in Mileywood, everyone is free to smoke all the weed they want, twerk as much as they want to and party all night.

And for the support of this declaration, and the success of the cause that we support, we, confident of the protection of the All-Powerful and of the justice of our line of conduct, engage by these present, mutually and solemnly the ones towards the others, our lives, our fortunes, and our most sacred honor.

By order of the Provisional Government,

John Smith, President

Well so I wonder what will Miley World do without Mileywood, our largest city and our economic and cultural capital, It's a shock. And we're waiting for a response from prime minister Nicolas Cyrus and from Her Majesty Queen Miley Ray Cyrus, who doesn't like being involved with politics. We're gonna have a commercial break and after the break, I'll have a guest in studio, Jeremy Jackson, who is an economist and will analyze the effects of Mileywood's secession on our economy.

Western European Republic Excels At King Paulus XV Memorial Games!
Image
Lucky Strike, right and in purple, leads other horses in the Saintland Derby Qualifying Race; it placed second in the race.
~
Despite being one of the nation's first forays into international sports, Western European Republican athletes are doing exceedingly well at the King Paulus XV Memorial Games. Lucky Strike, everyone's favorite Western European Republican racehorse, placed second in the Saintland Derby Qualifying Races, thus qualifying it for the second part of the Qualifying Races; in that, it placed second once more, meaning that it will be competing in the Saintland Derby- a massive accomplishment for an incredible horse. Tin Tin, however, was not as lucky; it will be racing in the Saintland Derby Preliminary Race.

In tennis, the Republic also did very well. Andrea Baumgaertner beat out Saintland's Ioannes Mannius in a "Battle of the Sexes", placing first in Group 4; Luc Garcia won his match, placing second in Group 11; Romilda Beneventi won her match, placing second in Group 13. Sara Greco was not so lucky, and lost her match, placing last in Group 2.

Hayes Academy Yachting Club, the Western European Republic Official Yachting Team, and the Bronislaw Club all won their yachting games; Turngate University Press was not so lucky, and was defeated by Kalenda One, of Darmen.

On Matchday 2, however, the Republic was not as lucky at tennis. Aymon Jolicoeur won his match, and placed first in Group 10; Romilda Beneventi won her match, and placed first in Group 13; Andrea Baumgaertner won her match, and placed first in Group 4. However, Virginia Lorenzo lost her match; she will stay at the Games, as she is also flagbearer. Luc Garcia also lost his match, and placed third in Group 11.

The Western European Republican Times, as the Republic's main news source, congratulates all athletes who competed in the games.

King Althyus of Celeria sat in his office chair, idly flicking through folders, thinking about very little.
Celeria, for once, was actually doing well. The economy, thanks to its constant use of slave labour, was rocketing. The clans, though their military forces were still being ramped higher and higher, were not doing anything drastic. His son, though still allowing his officers to conduct operations 'in free partnership (translation: in command of) Clan Gordavris soldiers, had not challenged him for the throne yet and was away in some godsforsaken little theocracy on the wrong side of a 'accidental' nuclear weapons detenation.
All in all, everything was currently going well for King Althyus the second: apart for the usual problems; the itchy backs he always got when he sat down too long, the achy knee that hadn't been right for 25 years, oh and yes...the terminal cancer ravaging his body: he almost had forgot about that.
He twisted his frame round in the chair, and reached for the sword stick which his illness had forced him to use in order to walk anything longer than the length of his office, and prepared to getup when the thing he had been dreading finally occurred.
The phone rang. The private phone.

"Odaerna," he said agitatedly.
"Mavistu?" (a shortened form of Mavisturani, father.)
It was Blacksen's silky smooth, confident voice on the other end. Finally someone he could rely on.
"Blacksen!" he said, almost happy. "What's gone wrong? You never call when everything's going well."
"No exception," his son retorted. "Although we absolutely thrashed the other futsal team we had to face...seriously, they were something to laugh at. They came in about 15 minutes late, and it needed Mickie to smash a door into their defenders nose.

But anyway, you know about Saintland, yes?"
"I know of Saintland, yes."
"Well, I've done something a little naughty."
"What is it?" the King asked.
"I've sort of...smuggled over 3,000 illegal firearms over their." Blacksen laughed.
"Well done!" the king congratulated: for once he was actually happy. "What sort of thing are we expecting? Blood running down the gutters, a rein of terror, the usual?"
"Absolutely," Blacksen affirmed. "What I just wanted though was approval for something a little...different."
"Different?"
"Yeah, different. You see, most of the royal family will be performing in the competitions, and they'll be a massive celebration at the closing ceremony. I'm pretty sure that these royals will end up mounting some kind of stage. What I'm proposing is to get a few guys with sniper rifles, you know the folding Gordavris Technologies ones, on some nearby buildings. That way, we can hurt their rulers a lot: we could even force the direct line of the family to be scrambling for members to succeed king Petrus, and that's when I'm proposing to start handing out guns and having a big party."
"You do know you could die, Blacksen?" his father asked him.
"Oh no I couldn't," Blacksen responded. "It'll be the tourists who actually do the fighting, you know, the most ardent Vakolicci supremecists you'd like to find? But to be on the safe side, could you have a few trained guys coming in to sort everything out? They shouldn't be armed, just Black Legion snipers will do...obviously not in uniform. Oh, and send Colonel Gordavris, he'll get it working."
"Jean-luc Gordavris?" Althyus questioned. "Can we tr..."
"Yes we can trust him," Blacksen butted in. "Now. Do I have the go ahead for this little action?"
"Of course you do. Odaerna Varilni."
"Odaerna Streni."
Blacksen put the phone down, and Althyus sat back and laughed. Those news reports would be things to watch.

Alberto Coltiletti, the jockey of Lucky Strike, the Western European Republic's finest racehorse ever, knelt by his bed in the hotel he was residing in, to pray to God.

"Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen."

"Dear God, may Lucky Strike, the horse whom I am jockeying, win the gold medal in the Saintland Derby, and if that is impossible, then may he win a silver medal, or a bronze medal. Thank you, my Lord, who rules all."

Western European Republican Yachting Team
Image

While practicing for their next competition, the members of the Western European Republican Yachting Team managed to greatly increase their skill. Expected to play against Fire Dragon, a yacht from South Vangazi, tomorrow, they know that in order to win and bring glory (and a medal) to the Western European Republic, they must beat all competitors. They went into some of the roughest waters in Saintland in order to practice, but did very well in those waters, and so are expected to do even better than before when they are playing against Dragon. Their odds have been updated, to reflect their current skill: 2/3 for a bronze medal, 1/4 for a silver medal, and 1/8 for a gold medal.

Lucky Strike
Image

Practicing for the Saintland Derby with the horse he was jockeying, Lucky Strike, Alberto Coltiletti, succeeded in bringing Lucky Strike, the Republic's most prized racehorse, to new heights. The horse ran a track equivalent to the Kentucky Derby Qualifying Race in only 1:39.814, a great improvement from its previous speed. Many sports analysts in the Western European Republic are now forecasting that Lucky Strike will win a silver or gold medal in the Race. Hopefully, those predictions come true.

States Top Bottom Of List
Lucerne Daily

Despite a slow start to the King Paulus XV Memorial Games, the FSS athletics had a few patches of sunlight in round two of the intersport competitions. Matchday 2 saw fledgling Swiss swimmers Trevor du Lusavik and Leeory Ildica advancing to finals in the 50m event. Experienced tennis player Mario Agrisano and this year's national runner-up Joseph Daffoko both won their first matches in two dominant sets. Meanwhile, Moncrieff was able to handily defeat his opponent in his wrestling match-up.

Tomorrow will see du Lusavik and Ildica compete for medals in their 50m free event. Although their times were a it off the mark, here's hoping they can snag gold for the States. The FSS, currently at the bottom of the medal count, dearly needs some momentum. No doubt the FSS AThletics Committee will use this experience to better shape their preparation for Swiss entries into the next Olympic Games.

Chiata Sports Network

Frank- Hello viewers. Welcome, once again, to Chiata Sports Network, your leading broadcaster for all things sports. Once again, an exciting day of the King Paulus XV Memorial Games unfolded.

Jordy- We will begin with Bobsleigh- Four-person. These were the first two runs. Amazingly, the Chiatan team made up of Edward Guarra, Andrew Slaughter, Jeffrey Calbrese, and Will White are sitting on 4th place and are only .01 second behind third. If they can step it up in their final two runs they might be able to take home Chiata's first medal in the games.

Frank- Now we move on to Arena Football. Chiata, with their American Football experience, smashed right through Acedonia in a 70-17 win that catipulted the Chiatan team to the top of Group B.

Jordy- There were a few surprises for the Horse Racing, not all of them for the better. In Race 1, Jockey's Bane failed to meet expectation as he slid to 6th place with All Brawn But No Brains unsurprisingly in 7th. Somehow, Louis the 42nd came in 2nd in Race 2 and advances to the Saintland Derby. Altogether, Chiata will have two horses in the Siantland Derby, Richard the Horse and Louis the 42nd.

Frank- After Horse Racing, Chiata participated in the Swimming 200m Backstroke Heats. Phylis Clark and Doyle Gibson both qualified for the Semis placing 7nd and 10th in that order.

Jordy- Next was the Table Tennis Team event. In MD2, the ladies teams lost again, this time against the Saintland Team in a close 3-2 game. However, the men's team made up for it by winning their first game against a Vakolicii team. They are now on top of Group B after their 3-1 victory.

Frank- Hopefully there won't be any death threats from the opposing team.

Jordy- I think you just provoked one.

Frank- Sigh... moving on to Tennis. Juan Nelson's win streak of one game ended after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Greg Meares. However, Enrique Bryant and Renee Davis made up for it by winning their games 2-0 and 2-1 in that order.

Jordy- Lastly, the Track and Field events were played. In the 400m Round 1, Chiatan Phillip Galan came in 4th and will advance to the Semis. In the 1500m Final, Dawn Powel came up short and landed in 6th place. However, let's give a hand for Dawn for getting so far.

Frank- That rounds out our reporting, so now we will tell you what to look forward to tomorrow. Basketball MD2 will unfold before you Chiatan Basketball fans as Chiata will crash heads with IBC Champs Saintland. Notably, Chiata recently snuck into yet another Playoffs as an unranked team in the CEdC. In continuation from today, the Four-Person Bobsleigh Finals will be on, so cheer on your Chiatan team to bring home a medal. Let us not forget that right after, our Arena Football team will play against Vettrera with the hopes of continuing their winning momentum. Next, Chiata will be in the Luge races. For Swimming, Chiata will be competing in the 200m Backtroke Semis and the 200m Breaststroke Heats. Both Table Tennis and regular Tennis will move into their 3rd Matchday and Phillip Galan will race for the hopes of a nation in the 400m Semis.

Jordy- Well that's all the time we have for...

Frank- WAIT! We have some breaking news coming in. The Government of Chiata has released an official statement about the Opening Ceremonies. Cut to film!

Good evening. As you all know, the Opening Ceremony of the King Paulus XV Memorial Games was delayed for several hours due to a terrorist threat. Furthermore, women were selectively taken out and searched which caused the bulk of the delay. We would like to make it clear that we do not condemn the actions of the Saintland Police Department, rather we view it as a reasonable search based on past instances. Feministvs Sanctvsterra, the likely cause of the incident, has a history of disrupting Saintland events and a a fully fledged terrorists organization. This reason alone permits the search of exclusively women as virtually all of Feministvs Sanctvsterra are of the female gender. Lastly, we would like to applaud Saintland's efforts of keeping the games as safe and secure from terrorist attacks and hope that they will continue to do so. That is all.

June 19th 2014

Saverio Latrofa Reporting from the King Paulus XV Memorial Games:

At least the Xadowian teams involved in the King Paulus XV Memorial Games organized by Saintland made their first steps in the NS World of Sports.
The Basketball team were defeated by South Vangazi 72–59. THe match was not lead by our boys in a perfect way and inexperience made it difficult to overcome the initial disadvantage due to a very powerful start by the South Vangazian much more skilled players. We saw a great potential in our team and believe our coach Mr. Cyprien Gbagbo (who - I want to remind us - is in charge since May the 1st after the former coach was sentenced to death for the poor results achieved so far) is layng good basis for a successful development of our team. By the way we'd like to highlight the good performance of the Vangazian Team.

A different result was achieved by our Rugby team: Xadowia won 21–19 Orennana. As the score shows the match was a hard fight, but our boys deserved the victory in the end to my personal opinion we showed a slight superiority at least on the dynamic phases of the match and all the players did their best. Although Xadowians give their best at XV Rugby matches after the Sevens were introduced since one year this discipline stimulated a lot of interest in the country and probably next year the URX (Union Rugbyste du Xadowia) will organize the first national 7CUP tournament.

Last but not least our grateful thank and sincere congratulations go to the Saintland organizers for the perfect hosting and framework set up for this huge event.

Anditia excels in pool and on courts
Frank Timmiton -- Anditon Free Press

Through three days of excitement in the King Paulus XV Memorial Games, hosted by Saintland, Anditia has fared decently well medaling in a number of aquatic based sports to this point. While the Anditon contingent was very much favored to do well in the pool, they have, to a large extent, lived up to those expectations garnering a silver and bronze in the 400 Medley Relay and on a stellar performance by Rika Samm, who got a bronze in the 400 IM. Another event to watch out for is the 200 meter Backstroke, which has a final that will feature three Anditon citizens: Emily Esto, Michelle Havu and Nicholas VanRhyn.

"Its truly exciting to be in this type of competiton. Its not normal that we get to swim against people of all shapes and sizes and sexes. Normally, we have to compete against only women, so the opportunity to whoop the crap out some dude is just spectacular. Though I'm still rooting for Micha [Havu, Michelle's twin brother] in the two-breast tomorrow - he's coming in ranked a bit low, but I think he could pull off an upset - he was only a second off of the top - so he has the potential there." Michelle Havu said during the afternoon presser. "It was a bummer about Frank and Alix. I mean, to have Alix be so dominant in the pool just to falter due to nerves is a bummer, but the 50 is a quick one... and then Frank, to be out touched AND to have there be a tie for first - just crazy - at least both of them got gold. I'd be pissed if I tied and had to get a silver... the organizers did the right thing."

On the tennis courts, the Anditon contingent of #1 ATP ranked Al Montis de Surmar and his mentor Gulaga Grappo have been doing well as expected. Both are the leaders of their respective groups (Group 4 and 14) and should qualify to move on to the next round without further issue. The two tennis powerhouses are currently undefeated in their group play (both only facing two opponents of the five possible) and should expect to have little competition during their remaining three competitions.

"You know, some of these competitors have given me a bit of a shake up, but overall, I'm adjusting on the fly and can generally figure them out. Its a unique opportunity that should only really help me out in the future with the ATP." Al Montis de Surmar commented following his recent win over Nathanael Mangakis. "I've got to focus more on making sure I don't make a stupid mistake and lose because of not paying attention more than anything."

Saverio Latrofa Reporting from the King Paulus XV Memorial Games:

Yes! The Xadowian 7s team made it through to the Semifinals of the RUGBY tournament!
A second win against the Darmen team has secured our boys the qualification. This time the verdict was clear: 17–35 leaves no doubt and strengthens the position of the coach Fabius Mwami former Fly Half of the national XV team.
Honour to the Darmen team which has indeed shown good individuals.

Darmeni Athletics squad doing well, "Could be better", says Coach

Of Darmen's three medals earned so far in the early stages of the King Paulus XV Memorial Games, all three have come from Darmen's efforts on the track. Kurt Din kicked things off on the first day of competition, winning the gold medal in the 10000m, with a time of 27:03.10. Distance superstar Scott Perry, who had earlier finished with the second fastest time in the qualifying for the 1500m Final, finished all the way down in ninth, almost a full minute behind Din.

"I was obviously tired. I'm not entirely certain about why I decided to run as fast as I did in the 1500m, but it was clearly not the right decision," said Perry after the 10000m Final.

Perry would continue to struggle on Day Two, finishing 7th in the 1500m Final, almost four seconds behind the Gold medal winner from Wray, Marcus Williams. Peter Celeits won the Bronze medal for Darmen.

"I judged the entire race wrong. I was planning to hang back and wait until the final lap before really going hard, but the other competitors had different ideas. I got caught out, plain an' simple, and couldn't react in time," said Perry.

Bobby Abdullah won the Silver medal for Darmen in the 3000m Steeplechase, with a time of 8:14.53, not far behind the winner from Vakolicci, Ruth Godbury.

While tomorrow will be a day for the sprinters and hurdlers, Scott Perry will get a second chance to finally win a medal in the 5000m and Marathon. The 5000m preliminaries will take place on June 24th, which coincidentally is St. Perry day back in Darmen, while the Final will take place the next day. The Marathon will take place on the 29th.

"Hopefully, the breaks Perry will have between races will help him to recover and be on top of his game," said the Head Coach of Darmen's Athletics team, Charlie Davidson. "The results so far have caused me some concern, especially ahead of the Olympics. We need to better in the Finals, our performances in the prelims are just fine. We need to work together as a team to win more than just one medal per event, that sort of thing."

Laure Corbeil

The smilers have won 1-0 in roller hockey at the King Paulus XV Memorial Games and Laure Corbeil scored the only goal of the game, here is her profile. Corbeil began figure skating at the age of 6 and she has abondonned it at the age of 10. Then she started roller skating for fun and at the age of 13 her friends pushed her to play roller hockey and she enjoyed it. she was the best player on her team and then she joined organized roller hockey leagues. She was still one of the best on her team and at 17 she started playing in the Smiler Roller Hockey League (SRHL) for the Châteauroux Pink Robots. She was mostly a reservist during her first season, having scored only 7 goals. Her 2nd season was better where she scored 23 goals. Her 4th season just ended and she has 102 goals in her career in the SRHL so far. Now at 21 years old, she hasa made Miley World's national team.

Winning Streak Continues for Republic
Image
Virginia Lorenzo, the Republic's undeniably attractive flagbearer and tennis star, beat Dortha Moreau, of Darmen.

The Western European Republic Basketball Team won their first match in today's games, placing them at second place in Group 3. This is an unexpected win for the oft-underestimated team, who have been struggling to prove themselves on the world court recently.

In tennis, considered the Republic's favorite sport, Sara Greco won her match, and placed fourth in Group 2; Andrea Baumgaertner lost her match, but placed second in Group 4; Aymon Jolicoeur won his match, and placed first in Group 10; and Virginia Lorenzo won her match, and placed third in Group 13. Tennis has often been associated with virtue in the Western European Republic; there is currently a bill in the Western European Republican Senate to make tennis the national sport of the nation.

In yachting, the Western European Republican Official Yachting Team beat Fire Dragon, of South Vangaziland. The Bronislaw Club lost their race, along with Hayes Academy Yachting Club. However, Turngate University Press won their race.

Samuel Holden
Image

While practicing for his match tomorrow, Samuel Holden decides it's not enough fun practicing on a punching bag. Luckily, he has Thomas Renta (pictured), an immigrant from Eritrea and his best friend, to accompany him on this trip as his "plus-one". Renta is also a professional boxer, albeit not as strong, large, and fearsome as Holden. They get in the ring, and Holden punches Renta in the face brutally. Renta collapses. He coughs blood, and two teeth fall out. He smiles at Holden. Holden smies back. Holden asks, "You okay?" Renta nods, and gets out of the ring, completely beaten in only three seconds.

Holden gets back to practicing on the dummy. Annoyed at the boring routine, he punches it so hard that it falls off the wire keeping it up. He is hungry now, and is served chicken breast. He tears into it, eating it barbarically. His face covered in ketchup and chicken, he smiles at his coach, Antony Bulgari, and walks back to his chambers, to read Kierkegaard, and to further prepare for the match tomorrow.

Sara Greco
Image

Sara Greco was practicing her serve. She hit it aggressively towards her "plus-one" and husband, Andre Fillipe. He hits it back, and she gracefully returns it. It is extremely fast, and he is unable to cope. He fails to return it. She serves once more, and he jumps up and hits it back. She returns. He hits it back. She hits it underhand, and, as he is only able to hit overhand (he is not a tennis player), he loses once more. Delighted, she kisses him on the cheek.

That night, she has a healthy and nutritious dinner, preparing for her match tomorrow. Later, they fornicate, as they are married.

Tennis: so, why not win every match?

It's official: the Greater Vakolicci Haven has rediscovered tennis: or rather, tennis has rediscovered the Greater Vakolicci Haven.
After over a year away from the international circuit, The Greater Vakolicci Haven's 4-man 1-woman tennis squad currently occupies positions in their groups no lower than second. In fact, Tommy Brun, thought to be the Haven's lowest ranked player in the Saintland Memorial games is almost certain to qualify, with 3 wins from 3: giving him 9 points with only 1 game remaining, following his victory over bottom-ranked Vendetta brooks of Vettrera.
Vakolicci Tennis Federation President Joseph Spence, who was notably extremely reluctant to send a tennis delegation to Saintland, now seems to be happy that he has made the correct decision.
"We weren't expecting such impressive play," Spence said. "Vakolicci tennis isn't a major sporting institution, but we're progressing extremely well. People at home are loving it. It's actually quite possible that we'll see 5 Vakolicci out of 5 progress to the last 32, which is incredible for us. It gives us an excellent chance of winning a medal."
RIP Vakolic, 08/08/2009-29/12/2013, unjustly deleted.

Papa Nua stretched: he couldn't believe the day he had just had. He had thought himself successful when he qualified for the 200 breaststroke heats: he expected nothing from that competition.

But that was overshadowed completely by the thing locked away in the safe in his room: the thing he had trained for months to obtain. Well, strictly speaking, he hadn't trained for months to obtain this particular one, he had trained for months to obtain the Olympic gold medal: but at the moment, this felt just as good. The sprint race: 1 length of freestyle...he had only just qualified for it. The question that everyone was asking in fact was 'Will Georgina petrenova manage to get a medal in this race/?' Noone had considered the large, dark-skinned southerner with the name considered ridiculous to most: but now, his face was being shown everywhere around the Haven as the next 'Swimming champion.' That was always a nice feeling, he thought. He was the 'swimming champion' now: he'd probably be the 'swimming champion' for around 2 days, before someone else barged in, and he had to share his glory. Although the odds tipped him to pick up the 200 m breaststroke, he didn't think he had any chance of such an act. He got up, unable to sleep, and put on his formal shirt and trousers: no need to get dressed for exercise at the moment. It was half past 7, he needed breakfast, he was probably a millionaire with the amount of press taking his very expensive photograph, and he could afford it. He did his washing, walked downstairs and joined Felix Mozer at a small table.

If he had to, as he probably would, have to share his title of 'swimming champion' given to him by the suffocating number of tabloid magazines that kept the Haven running, he could think of worse people to share it with than the green-eyed Velstranian.
After giving his order, he sat down, opened a newspaper from the Haven, before immediately closing it again: it had his picture on it.

Frank- Hello viewers. Welcome once again to Chiata Sports Network. I'm Frank Zian and beside me is Jordy Upwalker.

Jordy- Glad you're with us. The third day of the King Paulus XV Memorial Games swooped by with a day full of healthy competition. Sadly, there were still not medals for Chiata leaving many to wonder if we will ever get one.

Frank- However, let us not forget to victories we had yesterday, for those could easily turn into medals. We begin with Basketball MD2. In an upset game, Chiata was able to beat the current IBC champs Saintland. Chiata one with a score of 78-66. Chiata's Coach Johnson was interviewed about the win. "Honestly, I thought they were going to win until the last few minutes of the 4th. I was thinking 'can we really beat the best in the world?' Apparently we can. Most likely, I think the Saintland team was a little unnerved by the delay of the opening ceremony. If we have the pleasure to play such a great team again, I doubt they will be this forgiving." Chiata is number one in their group.

Jordy- Now we move to Four-Person Bobsleigh. On day 2, Chiata's Men's team has came in 4th. Sadly, after runs 3 and 4, they dropped to 6th which was .1 seconds off of bronze.

Frank- Chiata had some more magic on the gridiron. They were able to beat Vettrera soundly in a 65-25 win. It seems that our team sports are doing the best so far.

Jordy- Not to be out done by those "team sporters," Gordon Sneed of Chiata came out in 2nd after runs 1 and 2 of the Luge event. If he can hold his position, he can bring home a medal.

Frank- Once again, there was heartbreak for the Chiata Swim Team. Both Chiatan athletes in the 200m Backstroke Semis failed to get to the finals. In fact, they placed 14th and 16th in the race.

Jordy- However, some good news came in from the 200m Breaststroke Heats. Chiatans Loretta Smith and Gilber Ingles both qualified for the Semis and placed in 1st and 6th, in that order.

Frank- There were also mixed results from Table Tennis. Chiata's Women's team was able to upset the FFR's team and score their first win. They are now 4th in the group. In the other group, the Men's team lost in a terrible 3-0 game against The Bonticello Refugee Colony team. Chiata is now ranked 3rd in that group.

Jordy- Another exciting day of tennis saw Juan Nelson win his game in Group 2 with a score of 2-1. He is now 1st in the group. Next played Enrique Bryant who lost 2-0 to a Vakolicii player. Enrique is now 4th in the group. Patricia Black lost 2-1 to a Darmen player ans is also 4th in her group. Lastly, Renee Davis had a BYE but is still 1st in group 16.

Frank- For Track and Field, Chiata had a turn for the better. In the 400m Semis. Phillip Galan came in 1st and was a full .22 second in front of everyone else. Perhaps he could be Chiata's first medalist?

Jordy- Of course, you can always look to tomorrow for Chiata's next big victory. Arena Football will move to MD3, in which so far Chiata has excelled in. Also, Handball will start up to show if Chiata's luck in team sports continues. The Saintland Derby will be on. with two Chiatan horses in it. Also. Luge run 3 and 4 will decide if Gordon Sneed can keep his medal position. The Chiata Swim team will take part in 200m Breaststroke Semis and the 200m Butterfly heats. Table Tennis and Tennis will advance to MD4 while in Track and Field, 400m Finals will see if Phillip Galan can bring home a medal. To end a competition day for Chiata will be the 400m Hurdles Round 1.
