Alright, so, with the Watterson Bowl supposed to start yesterday, and Jeck seeming to have disappeared, we have some business to deal with. I haven't consulted with other members of the WCF, but I'm going to make an executive decision. If they disagree with me, they can post here later. Jeck has two more days to show his face and begin the tourney. If he is not back by Tuesday, August 19th at 23:59 CST, New Wolfopolis will volunteer to emergency host.

Right, I'm alive!

I'm extremely sorry about this, but my internet got capped (our family used all we were allowed to), so then my access became slow to nonexistant. Try as I might I couldn't get the message to you, even though I did manage to log on a few times. I can only offer my sincerest apologies.

So, the plan is this. I've scrapped the live draw, and postedthe draw in the OP as well as IC information. I will reveal the details of scorination this evening when I have more time (I'm about to go out) and MD1 will be scorinated tomorrow, with the cutoff being around 20:00 BST.

Once again sorry for the absence.

Couple of things on tonights results. First, the PD means nothing and has just been included as an asthetics thing. Second, there was a draw. Now given the highly unlikely chances of this, I never covered it in my bid, but as you can likely tell from the table, a draw is worth half a win.

I would have considered taking over from Jeck if I wasn't busy with uni stuff. If we can wait a month, I might consider trying to revive this around December/January. Factoring in the likely start/finish of WC70.

Yeah. Thing is, my tech was ready to resume hosting a week after, and I might have done so if people had been RPing. We all talked the talk, but when the tournament actually came around people were either too busy or not bothered enough to RP, and it seemed a bit pointless.

Inside the WCF Treehouse

"The thirty-fourth meeting of the World Calvinball Federation, a subdivision of GROSS (Get Rid Of Slimy girlS), is now called to order!" President Hobbes said, adjusting his newspaper hat, made only from the finest hand-picked editions of The Wall Street Journal. Dictator-for-Life Calvin concurred, and the twelve-minute meeting went smoothly without a hitch.

"A swell meeting," Dictator-for-Life Calvin said. 10:45 AM - Dictator-for-Life Calvin remarks on the swellness of the meeting was jotted down in the Club Log for use in the court-martial.

Whereupon the floor exploded out from under them in a shower of oak splinters. Calvin and Hobbes were thrown to the sides, rolling into the thick wood walls with heavy thumps. Four masked figures leapt up from the sledgehammer-shaped hole in the treehouse, spraying a fresh wave splinters across the room.

"WOO! HOBBES TROPHY WOOOOOOO!" Llama screamed, ripping off his mask.

"Ten penalty points!" Jeck pointed out. "Can't take off your mask like that."

The last two figures unmasked. It was Some Village and Barunia. Jeck declared victory and planted a Jeckish flag fashioned from a chicken bone onto Some Village's head.

"So, uh...why are you here?" Hobbes asked.

The four looked at each other and leapt back down again. In fact, they leapt in reverse order as they jumped up, and when Llama jumped back and un-swung a sledgehammer, the hole disappeared, along with the four of them, vanished into the mists of time via a cardboard box.

"WHERE THE **** IS MY COPY OF THE WALL STREET JOURNAL?" somebody shouted from inside the house.

I generally don't post in NS Sports, but... this thread, it drew me in. And I've always wanted to do NS Sports.

How do you plan on doing this, considering how there are no set rules to calvinball? (not including that no rule can be repeated and that everyone must wear a mask)

Having just realised that the Hobbes trophy tournament lists the host as TBD, here comes an 11th hour bid!

Barunia's Calvinball Oversight Commitee bid for the 2nd Hobbes Trophy

Experience
Not much, but I have hosted the 4th T20 Cricket World Cup and the 1st ODI Challenge Cup (also cricket). I'm also a board member of the World Calvinball Federation, so I am dedicated to getting this sport going on NS.

Format
Each game would run for three moves per player. On each move, players would be expected to 1)name a sport, which must be in xkoranate, 2)give a percentage, which will be used to modify the results. The percentages giving for all three moves must total 100. 3)on their final move, list a consonant. Players may also add ONE additional rule, such as scoring with no draws, reverse the results, or subtract the result from the overall score rather than adding them. Players may also elect to give an IC ruleset which is different from the OOC one they give the scorer.

If a player does not make a move before cut-off, I will determine a move for them, and the player will not receive any bonus for the move.

For example:
OOC Rule: Basketball, 30%
IC Rule: Touches to third base while doing a lap of the swimming pool on a pogo stick.
Additional Rules: No draws
Letter: Z

Schedule
I know a schedule has already been picked by Llama, but I would push it back a day, and run both semi-finals on the same day, the 25th-27th January, cutting off every 24 hours. Both finals would also be scored on the same day, the 28th-30th. This is to avoid a clash with my uni schedule.
Cut-off times would be tentatively set as 13:00-14:00 UTC.

RP bonus
RP bonus will be awarded on a scale of 1-5, and will be added to a base of 2 points for each move made. This is to encourage a move being made, even if a player cannot RP. Rosters will also receive a small bonus.

The Llamanean Calvinball Team accepts this proposal, and with that we have a majority!

On a separate note, Jeck is having computer issues so I ask Barunia to push back the start date a bit. i.e. not yesterday.

What I might do then, is start the SV vs SLL game tomorrow (meaning Some Village has about 36 hours to post an opening ruleset and RP), and delay the start of the Jeckland vs Barunia game by at least 24 hrs. Expect further information to come throughout the day.

Important Host Announcement: Cut-off for tomorrow will be delayed, as I'm working until 10 tomorrow (the end of the Cut-off period). Expect cut-off as soon as I get home, which could be anywhere up to an hour late, depending on if I get out on time.

So now, you have extra time to RP. No excuse for not doing it now.
