Arkiasis defeats Semarland 5-2

For the first game of the tournament Arkiasis faced nearby Semarland, a team Arkiasis has faced countless times in the Elysium World Ice Hockey Tournament. However, unlike other nearby nations in Nordania, Semarland has never been a hockey powerhouse, with only 4 total medals compared to Arkiasis' 12. Arkiasis is coming off a gold medal win in the Esquarium Winter Games, a tournament Semarland did not participate in.

Arkiasis started off the game with a powerplay goal from Thomas Krueger 11 minutes into the first period. Semarland responded late in the first to tie the game. 6 minutes into the 2nd period Arkiasis scored two goals in quick secession from Joel Prust and Brent Resnick respectively. Later in the 2nd, Semarland scored another goal on the powerplay to close the gap to one goal heading into the third period. Following a slow start to the third period Brandon Blake responded 15 minutes into the 3rd to bring the game 4-2. In the last minute of the 3rd Edward Macintyre scored on an empty net to seal the 5-2 victory for Arkiasis.

Marko Nielsen stopped 36 of 41 shots for Semarland while Zack Quirk stopped 27 of 29 shots for Arkiasis.

Arkiasis will play Korva tomorrow at the Bank of Korva Center.

Vettrera 2-3 Norrehavn

“Good evening, Norrehavn. I am Therius Honka and we’re live at University of NorthCircle Arena, Vettrera, for our World Cup of Hockey debut and qualifying group opener between Vettrera and Norrehavn. Starting tonight’s nets will be Vaclav Pavelec and Bradly Utes. Pavelec, the 19-year old native of Praha, has just won a Memorial Cup title, MHL and QMJHL Goaltender of the Year awards, as well as a brand-new, entering contract to match his status as the hottest goalie prospect in the world since Jean-Sebastien Oullet. Bradley Utes, on the other hand, is supposed to be a defenseman but due to lack of goaltenders on the Vettreran National Team, he will be playing as both goaltender and third defenseman. What this also means for the Red Lions is that they, due to Utes being a natural defenseman, expect their PP to be extremely strong.”

……….

“Now, down comes the opening faceoff, between Ryan Allen and Jonas Bergström. Referee blows the whistle and Allen wins the faceoff. Rightaway he passes the puck right to Mathers, then to Gregory Matters. Matters, skating through Kostalek and Gunnarsson, shoots the puck from the blueline……And Scores. 1-0 Vettrera, as Pavelec was unable to get himself a save on what was the first shot registered from the match.”
……….

“1:49 left in the first, Eller skating up in the left side. He criss-crosses the ice as he moves further in acceleration. This looks good, as he skates by easily. A line shift occurs at the same time, and fourth line is trying to help him gaining the offensive edge…..And no. Instead Klebanskyj collides into him, bringing the 31-year old blueliner down. This is not good at all, as the stoppage of play was called. Okay. He’s not getting up, so on-ice emergency staff comes to get him with a stretcher. This is so not good, as one would certainly agree. Down 1-0, with shot differentials of 4-20, this is not looking good for nights.”

……......

“12:31 left in the second, and here comes Kristians Jevpalovs. On a re-arranged second line with Joseph Franzen and Jonas Bergstrom, he’s flying like a G6…He manages to deke both Year and Brown, is getting closer to net, on a 1-on-1 breakout. He shoots, and scores! Kristian Jevpalovs, with Norrehavn’s first goal of the year!”

…………

“9:04 left in the second, and Roger Beal shot off what was a nice feed from Ian Lewis. It hits the glove of Vaclav Pavelec, but not without Pavs receiving a shower of icy coconuts off the skates of Aidan Diaz. But he manages to find the puck, and saved what was a 34th save for the Norrish netminder. Clearly no one is happy about it though….And that’s it, ladies and gentlemen. Bergström and Diaz dropping their mits! They’re hitting each other quite hard, with all the punches they are throwing off the ice, haha. Neither are going down, though, and soon officials told them that it’s over for now.”

…………

“8:43 left in the 2nd, and we’re entering the defensive zone faceoff, right against us. Allen wins the faceoff and passes the puck to Andrew Mathers. Mathers, shoot from the point Blanc, Pavelec kicks it with his pad. Gregory Mathers then shoots off a juicy rebound and scores! 2-1 to The Wild Herd, with the less than half of the game left. Pavelec has been great all the time he was on ice tonight, barring this. It was certainly preventable though, and shouldn’t have happened.”

…………

“10:09 minutes left in the third. Red Lions are still behind, 2-1. Trate controls the faceoff on 6-4 PP, which obviously means Welp for the Lions. And the puck is up to Hayde, who then powers a shot on the glove side….Oh, my. What a save by Pavelec, as he makes end-to-end save on Allison Hayde in a thrilling 42nd shot of the night.”

…………

“1 minute and 26 seconds left in the game, with a crucial Faceoff on the opponents’ zone. Back in even strength, we’re at 6-6, with Pavelec pulled in favour of a sixth attacker. This is important, for we’re facing a loss right now. Jonas Bergstrom wins the faceoff, then passes the puck back to Naga Konstantin. Konstantin passes, then shoots. It hits the pole with a loud ping, and deflects to the left side. Franzen plunges into the ice and shoots…..Oh boy. What a goal, ladies and gentlemen! The game is tied from an epic crawling goal by Joseph Franzen! This is not over, folks.”

…………

“39 seconds into the last period, and it’s Vrbata. Vrbata, Bergström and then Chang. The Avalanche power forward skates up in the right, gives Reginald Smith a nice hit on front, and with puck still in his stick. This sounds good. Now, he passes to Radek Vrbata, who shoots, and it's in again! What the Motherf***ing Game Winning Goal! Just as we’re shorthanded, 7-5, Radek Vrbata manages to score in what was a pure, clutch play. Now, the whistle rang and the game is over, with a 3-2 Norrish victory. Despite allowing 53 shots, we still won the game in a thriller. Thank you all, and good night. This is Therius Honka, and this Channel 1.”

.:: On-board GyatsoAIR Flight 1446, From Sundari International Airport TO Augnook Regional Transportation Hub ::.
0140 hours local time (UTC+7), 26 May 2014.2

The plane ride from Sundari to Augnook was a short flight, but the men needed to get there and rest for the next game. Home stretches were always preferred to the away ones, and the Ice Bisons got a pretty decent spread this tournament; the first two games were home games, while the longest stretch came from Matchday 5 to Matchday 7. Many of the men looked forward to the long stretches away; gave them an excuse to travel and see the world.

Attention Passengers, we are now making our final approach to the Augnook Regional Transportation Hub. Please make sure your seatbelts are fastened securely and your tables are stored in the up-right and locked position.

Hakoda Ishii pulled back his headphones and pushed his table into the proper position. As he fastened his seatbelt, he looked to his travel partner with a smile. I am sure glad he made the cut Ishii thought as he looked to Hiteki Kia.

"Relax Tek'Tek. We are almost on firm ground."

"Wonderful."
Hiteki looked to Ishii with an uncomfortable smile, his distaste in planes ever-apparent. The roar of the engines as the plane came down made the young man even more concerned, which of course made Ishii smile even more.

"One day," Ishii exclaimed over the engines' screaming howls, "You are going to have to tell me why planes make you so uncomfortable." A nod from Hiteki was all Ishii caught as he felt the plane make contact with the ground; the screech of the wheels as they hit tarmac, and soon therein muffled by the snow beneath them.

It was late May, and Augnook still had snow on the ground. The temperature outside of the plane was a "balmy" 5° thanks to a "warm front" which pushed in off the Antipolar Sea a few hours earlier. Weather forecast had the temperature around game time dipping below zero, so Hakoda looked forward to playing in something more akin to home.

The plane came to a stop, and the men on-board all stood to exit. Each man grabbed his carry-on bag and moved towards the front. Hiteki was well-bundled compare to Ishii; his four coats looked almost comedic to Ishii, who wore just a single double-layered Northern Watertribe coat.

"Hiteki... You should really talk to your mother about a good coat." Ishii spoke, stepping out of the plane and descending down the stairs. He looked to tarmac, and for once he was glad the fans had called it a night and would likely be tearing apart downtown by this hour.

"Yeah... Yeah..." Hiteki muttered. His coat close to his face, a voice muffled more by think fur and synthetic lining. "Before Emdee-Ten I'll have her get me a nice parka."

The two men made their way to the bus across the way. It was going to be another long day tomorrow.

But for now... Four hours of sleep would top off their first victory.

Spartak Norris Makes A Blocker Save Late In The First Period

Nassau Hessen 3–3 Caek of the Wolfen
Evenly Matched Teams Can't Pull Away

Well, what can we say? It was a hard fight through and through. Despite Caek's number sixty two rank, they were the first ranked out of Pot Number Four. They also came in ready to take whatever came in their way, even a hungry Nassau team, who despite their national passion being hockey, have never gotten overall positive results from a World Cup. Both lineups strode through their respective benches and onto the ice before the commencement of the match. Each of the players on both of the squads were filled with tremendous national pride as the first game soon started.

The game got off to a quick start to say the least. The Iron Wolves hit the ground running, leaving the Eagles off guard for a moment. That moment proved to be costly for the Hessians, as Iron Wolf Center number seven Pyotr Mac Naoimhín scored from a beautiful centering pass. Pyotr scored top left hand corner with a mere 49 seconds into the game. First Liner Olaf Liedland didn't tolerate it, and seemingly out of nowhere intercepted a defensive pass to score a goal with magnificent stick handling, putting the score even at one. Not much happened for the remainder of the period once those goals were scored, as they both sent a clear message, DONT SLACK OFF. The Red and Purple defense and Spartak Norris became very efficient for the remainder of the period, and the teams headed off to their locker rooms in a fierce stalemate.

The teams embarked out of their locker rooms to enter the second period, a period which would prove to be both emotional and physical. Fairly early in the period, number forty four, Left Defensemen Karl Willard was the recipient of a nasty slash to the leg from Kaj Paget. Gustav Hjalmerson, while changing, saw it and had none of it, he proceeded to viciously fight, and ultimately beat, Kaj. The officials had to pull the two apart in order to get Gustav off. Much to the discontent of the Iron Wolves fans, Hjalmerson was not ejected. On the ensuing power play, Center Luke Pearson, moved by pity from the Willard injury, scored soon afterwards by a mean wrist shot. Not terribly far after, the Wolves responded by a tip in from old veteran Right Wing Mario Graham just after the midway point of the game. Both teams had ensuing chances, but none were good enough for either of the strong goalies. Both teams left as they entered, only with a much higher level of intensity and determination afterwards.

As the third period started, news was spread that Willard would not return and a new backup named Bob Swift would replace Troy Perault's vacant spot. Todd Harrison was extremely anxious to get a chance to prove himself to the multiverse by being on the first line. The teams were dead even, no person dared mess up. Not many chances were made due to the brick wall of both defenses. There was only with five and a half minutes left when Todd Harrison made a determined long pass to Gerry Melbourne, who just changed, that led to a shocking breakaway goal. The Wolfens were on their knees in front of their TVs as the four and three minute marks passed by. Miraculously, their prayers were answered through an almost divine goal by the CoW national hero, namely Caek. Caek pinned a breakaway shot (which he gained through out skating the rest) into an ideal spot, he would've scored hadn't Melvin Harlatov barely trip Caek, giving a penalty shot to the away team. Caek sped down the rink, and successfully aimed straight where he intended last, which was straight to the top post (which gave off quite a loud clank) and in. The Hessen and visitors alike were in a state of shock. Both teams became overly risky approaching the end, desperately clawing for a scoring opportunity, but none would come, and the final buzzer sounded.

All in all, the team of the Eagles came out content, as the scenario could have been MUCH worse (especially considering that they were in a decently tough division). Todd Harrison is in a state of ecstasy as Willard was in a state of, well, pain. Kaj Paget and Hjalmerson exited the game with a few dirty words intended towards each other, it is uncertain how far this may escalate. Both goalies and Caek won national admiration from the game, as both made tough saves to guarantee a point for their respective home nations. Despite all of the positivity, the two groups knew they could have come out with a more favorable situation. There would be another action packed match between the two, but that was too far in the future to consider for now. The final score, 3-3.

The broadcast of the SJT v Vaugania game on VSN:

"And Gilmour absolutely lays into the SJT winger! That's a textbook hip check right there! Tennfjord swings by to collect the puck and take it up the wing. He's had a great game today with 1 of our 8 goals and a pair of assists to go along with it. He fires the puck up the wing to Smirnov. Smirnov takes it in stride just outside of the SJT zone. He's coming in hot! Forehand, backhand, goal! That makes 3 for Smirnov! What a day he's having!

I really don't know what to make of this. It's now 9 goals to 2, advantage Vaugania. I honestly have no idea what to attribute this scoring barrage to. Could it be new head coach Art Rosenberg? Or perhaps it's the QHL conditioning received by players like Smirnov, Tennfjord, and Raphael Roux? Whatever it is, all of you at home must be absolutely thrilled. It's a great day to be a Vauganian hockey fan."

"Colin Knight is out with the third line is out to take this offensive zone face-off. He has Tomislav Avramenko to his left and Adam DesLauriers on his right. The referee releases to puck and Knight scoops it up. He drops it back to Kusti Holmstrom who swings out to the left. Fakes a shot and passes it over to Philip Sorenson. Sorenson moves up looking for an opportunity to shoot. He doesn't find it and he hands it DesLauriers who's positioned below the goal line. He scoots behind the net and surveys the territory before him. Sorenson slides down the wing and gets it back from DesLauriers. Without hesitation, up to Holmstrom and he shoots! Goal! Knight tipped it at the front of the goal and it goes in! Welcome to double digits, 10-2!"

"We're three minutes from the end of this massacre at the hands of the Golden Eagles. SJT has pulled their goaile in a last ditch effort to get another goal or two up on the board and try to salvage a bit of the massive hit they are going to take to their goal differential. With Nicolas d'Orty in the penalty box for tripping, SJT is making use of their two-man advantage and they are pinning down the Golden Eagles. They are working it down the wing on Raphael Roux's right. Gilmour is giving the winger some trouble and knocking him against the boards. He tries to move the puck across the ice, but that's a very careless pass through the center! Roux is bolting out of the net, what is he doing! He swipes the puck and knocks it down the ice! Nobody is going to be reaching that one! It looks close down at the other end... that's in! 11-2! The goalie has scored! The goalie has scored! I think that'll do! We might as well go home now! Back for your sake, we'll stick around a bit longer. Our Golden Eagles are opening up this WCoH with a win!"

Iron Wolves tie Nassau Hessen 3-3 in WCoH MD1

Despite their efforts, the Wolfen were only able to come away with a tie facing the formidable Nassau-Hessen Eagles, in their home, Arima National Stadium. The Eagles, ranked 44, 18 ranks above the Iron Wolves, proved a match. Goalie Spartak Norris came away with 35 saves in the game, while Eagles goalie Jacob Anders made 31 saves.

In the first period, the drop of the puck was almost immediately followed by a goal. Coach Größel had decided to start the second line with the first line to follow. Off the faceoff win from Mac Naoimhín, Dederick Næss fired a pass to Pyotr once more and on his breakaway chance, Mac Naoimhín scored top shelf. The Nassau Hessen crowd immediately went silent. Following that, the Wolfen continued to play their physical game. However a poor pass in the neutral zone was intercepted by RW Olaf Liedland. Liedland took the pass, faked a shot, and deked past a Spartak Norris poke check to score with a wrist shot.

The teams reconciled with themselves over the break between periods. A little bit into the period, Kaj Paget, a Wolfen d-man, slashed Karl Willard's leg pretty hard. Willard had to be taken out of the game after the shot, but Gustav Hjalmerson was not happy about the injury. He skated right up to Paget and challenged him to a fight. Paget being the hot head he is, accepted the invitation to dance. Sadly, Kaj was beat in the fight. Luke Pearson, apparently inspired by this fight, scored off a nice wrist shot into the lower right corner of the net. About a minute later, Vet RW Mario Graham answered in a hurry. Both goalies had their shares of saves and such, but no more goals were scored that period.

Before the start of the third period, it was announced Willard would not return. Many sighs and boos emanated from the crowd. A backup from the teams reserves would be put in. The puck dropped, but not much action happened this period. Both defenses and goalies proved impenetrable, until late in the period, when a long pass from Todd Harrison was completed to Gerry Melbourne. Melbourne broke away from the defense and scored a backhand shot into the net. The Iron Wolves were down for a little, until a breakaway chance by Caek was interrupted by a stick tripping him up. The refs called for a penalty shot. Caek came rushing out, switched a little, a fired a backhand top corner to score a tying goal! (OOC: Essentially, this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye1Jie7NSe4) Both teams proved for the next two minutes to be too strong for one another, and the game ended in a tie.

The Wolfen play the unranked Mechanical Monasteries next Match Day in Wolfen Centre. Be sure to order your tickets at http://www.wolfendirect.com or try to pick up some up at the door. Go Iron Wolves!

After our 2nd day, Britonisea has not please the rest of our group as we are last. ZIlt. Zer0. We have lost both of our matches. Esportiva just don't like us, do they? Every time there is a tournament in there region, we lose! Maybe because it is to sporty for us. Maybe it is because it is too hot. Luckily for Anditia, they are at the top of the table. Well done to them. Also, Gregoryisgodistan is always in our group. Something is messed up. Not to say we do not like them in our team, but it is quite weird. They are a pleasure to play though. Darmen, eh, we don't really know them to much. Do you? The Kytler Peninsulae, what? We have never heard of them. Let's see how this tournament pans out.

The crowd at the AWR Arena was loud enough that the suggestions that the Kytlerians would not get home advantage from the more "casual" crowd looked laughable. If this is what the crowd was like in Zube, the Alaer crowd would be deafening, even with almost 5,000 fewer of them.

And initially, it looked as though the vast majority of this 15,000-plus crowd would get what they wanted against Anditia. Izorigor Gackbang's early slapshot from the blue line deflected off the left post and fell neatly to Daniel Farrell, who poked in a one-timer past the stranded Anders Mikkan to give the Kytlerians a lead after just three minutes. So much for the shellshock of losing 7-1 in Darmen in their first game - this was the Kytlerian debut performance we've seen in a zillion different sports over the years. Ten minutes later, apparent confirmation. This time it was the third-stringers who made it happen, Nick Asquith's saucer pass leaving Peter Dyer with a simple finish. 2-0 before the first period was even done? Sounds easy, right?

Well, very often it's the third goal of a game that is the most pivotal. 3-0 can feel like game over, 2-1 in either direction and you're going to favour the team with momentum. Sure enough, with 24 seconds on the clock, renowned Andittian irritant Kyle Pane showed he could be a pest in more ways than one by deflecting a wayward Jimmy Boef shot into the corner of the net that Francis McNally had vacated. It was a huge turning point. Star Andittian forward Sam Nelson's mazy run in the first minute of the second half drew in both defensemen and created a simple opportunity for a pass to Nestor Van Ryk and then to an utterly unguarded Mike Wallock for the equaliser. Six minutes later, the visitors were ahead, Samm D'Aura's defense-splitting pass freeing Nicco Havut. Thanks mainly to the excellence of the penalty kill unit - Brett Funar making several key blocks - there would be no further scoring, and the hosts would be left frustrated and joint-bottom of the group with fellow newcomers Britonisea.

"We should have had it from 2-0," conceded Farrell after the game. "I don't know what happened in that second period. The first goal was lucky, but they took advantage so much - we should have been able to stop the momentum when the horn sounded so soon afterwards, but we didn't regroup. Their experience made a big difference tonight, and we have a lot to learn."

Gregoryisgodistan 1–0 Darmen

"Hello, I'm Sportscaster PXJCCBC8 and this is Gregoryisgodistan Hockey. Today's game features the Ice Slaves hosting Darmen in what is sure to be a good game, two of the Top 20 teams in the World. Gregoryisgodistan blew a four goal lead yesterday after a lot of goaltenders were ejected, but did manage to crush seven different Jeckish referees, making them true Gregoryisgodistani heroes. Speaking of saluting, it's time for the national anthems. First, the anthem of the visitors from Darmen. All anthems will be sung by Singer JP1929ZNA, Gregoryisgodistani winner of Anthem Sing-Off for IBS V. He is obviously not singing a fake anthem from Darmen on an international stage just to insult them. Don't suggest otherwise or you will be executed."

Darmen, Darmen, we all like to kill cows
Because they are smarter than we are, wows
We are so stupid, we kill cows, we are cows, we are stupider than actual cows
Long live our stupidity, may we forever be dumb
We are bums, we are bums, yes we are
Darmen is home of the loser cows
We will lose this hockey game
Why does our anthem specifically mention this game?
Because we just wrote it yesterday, because we were to dumb to think of one
So we wrote one just for this game
And do you know who is to blame
Do you know who is to blame?
It is us so put us to shame!

"Bravo, Singer JP1929ZNA. Thanks for singing what was obviously the real national anthem of Darmen. The Darmen fans hanging from the rafters are only booing because they're too stupid to know their own national anthem. And throwing rotten fruit onto a singer is considered a sign of respect in their country because they're so darn stupid! Now for the national anthem of Gregoryisgodistan."

"Bravo! Doing our country proud. Now, it's time for the puck drop. Here we go. Let's get ready and we're underway here at Willingsley Arena. And right away, just 15 seconds in, we have our first penalty, as Enemy Crusher Bigward McFooples is called for crosschecking Trent Gaborik. And now Gaborik is going to punch Enemy Crusher Bigward McFooples in the face but he won't get a penalty. Enemy Crusher Bigward McFooples is furious with the official, Ricard LeTrance of Royal Kingdom of Quebec, both for calling a penalty on him and not calling one on Gaborik, and now he's crushing LeTrance. The fans are going wild, screaming "DEATH TO THE REFS" and now LeTrance is dead. They're giving Enemy Crusher Bigward McFooples a standing ovation now as he is escorted to the penalty box by one of the still-living officials. And now it looks like two police officers are running onto the ice, somehow managing to avoid slipping and falling. They are arresting the official who took Enemy Crusher Bigward McFooples to the penalty box, namely Raul Buenviera of San Jose Guayabal, apparently for interfering with an enemy crusher. And they're going to hand down his sentence right now, execution by enemy crusher. The police are letting Enemy Crusher Bigward McFooples out of the penalty box and he is crushing Buenviera. Buenviera is dead, leading to another standing ovation. The fans are going wild now. They will summon alternate officials, but police are having a conversation and it looks like any other officials who call penalties on Enemy Crushers for the rest of the game will be arrested and probably be executed. This is such a scene. The Darmen fans are trying to get to the police officers, but they are still hanging from the rafters like all the visiting fans, so that's not going to work too well.

"Anyway, now it's still 5-on-5 because they overturned the penalty, and we are ready for hockey again. Face-off in the neutral zone, controlled by Kucera, he's walloped by an enemy crusher but they don't call anything, skating down the ice now is Actor 81248D8J, he shoots, but it's saved and it's still 0-0.

...

"1:02 left in the first period, and the enemy crushers are really hitting hard, yet none of them have been called for a penalty. Finally, Kuba retaliates, shoving Enemy Crusher Bigmac Fatfrize to the ground. He's going to the penalty box for two minutes. No, the enemy crushers want more and by golly, they will get what they want. Five minute major? Nope, not enough? Eject Kuba for fighting and 10 minute penalty, no, they want him here. Give him a 20 minute penalty and make him stay in the box the entire time, including intermission, even though no such rule exists? Yeah, that will satisfy the enemy crushers. But Kuba is mad, since of course no rule exists. He's yelling at the officials and the officials probably should give him an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty under the rules, but they won't. Boy those refs are incompetent. He's screaming at the ref, and while he thinks he's right, and the ref might think he's right, rules are rules and he should be given another five minute penalty for cursing at the official. And now the enemy crushers point that out and he's going to get another ten minutes in the box, for a total of 30 minutes, including staying in the box during both intermissions. This is incredible. The enemy crushers have taken over this game. And now the coach of Darmen is furious. But he'll be restrained by his own players so he doesn't get crushed. Just incredible. Another standing ovation for the enemy crushers. And meanwhile the game has been going on with all this mayhem and it's intermsision. Kuba forced to stay in the box, however.

...

"1:59 left in the second period, Ice Slaves have been on power play for about 19 minutes and can't score, and now Enemy Crusher Ronald Fatgoat plows straight into the goalie. That will earn him retaliation, as Zyuzin shoves him to the ground. Enemy Crusher Ronald Fatgoat wants another penalty and is threatening to crush the officials if he doesn't get it. Zyuzin be sent to the penalty box for 2 minutes for hitting after the whistle. And now the Enemy Crushers are threatening the scoreboard operator, and he puts up 22:00 instead of 2:00 "accidentally" and is refusing to change it out of fear for his life. That will include the entire rest of the game. So 5 on 3 until there's 11:02 left in the game, then 5 on 4. This is getting ridiculous but the enemy crushers and fans love it. The refs are conferencing to see if there's anything that can be done, but the rules clearly say he cannot come out of the penalty box until the scoreboard shows time has expired on the penalty.

...

"And that's the end of the second period, still 0-0. They are letting Zyuzin out of the penalty box for the intermission, but they won't let Kuba out He's coming out anyway to have a word with the officials, and they're going to tack 10 minutes onto his penalty for coming out of the penalty box too soon. That's pretty much the whole game. He will get out with 1:02 left. This is getting out of hand. The Enemy Crushers are having their way, and the fans love it, so what more can I say? Oops, the scoreboard operator "accidentally" put 100 more minutes on the penalty for Kuba. Out of fear for his life. Now he won't get out at all. The fans are going wild. The Darmen fans hanging from the rafters are booing, but now police are beating them. It's intermission here.

...

"32 seconds left in the game, still 0-0 in spite of the perpetual power play for the Ice Slaves, and they're going to call yet another penalty, this one on Bombardir. What happened? They're calling interference with Pervert Chaser JDJJ8138 and awarding a penalty shot. What happened? Let's look at a replay. I don't see anything except an Enemy Crusher screaming at a referee. That's interesting. Maybe he forced him to call the penalty shot. Bombardir was nowhere near the play and Pervert Chaser JDJJ8138 just slipped. Anyway, he will take the penalty shot and IT'S IN! GREGORYISGODISTAN LEADS 1-0!!!!!! And now they're finally ending both penalties, even though only one or none or something should be ended, but it's confusing. And anyway, it's finally 5-on-5, but actually 6-on-5 as Darmen pulls their goaltender. The refs look to the Enemy Crushers to see if they want to argue, but they don't. Here we go. Face-off won by Gregoryisgodistan. Across the red line, up ahead, 20 seconds left. Weatherman 92UDH9111 shoots, but Kuba dives with his body and knocks it down with his chest. Cleared away by Darmen, across the red line, 10 seconds. 5 as they advance, shoots wildly, nowhere close to the net as the whistle blows and this game is over. Gregoryisgodistan wins 1-0 in a game dominated by the Enemy Crushers."

Matter of pride for Moordfors
by Joost Elmeen, Staff Writer Te Haarn der Matexipar

No one here in Matexipar can remember the last time Heiko Moordfors gave up five goals in one game.

Apparently, he couldn't either. "I can't count up to five anyway," he said.

In fact, the records show that Moordfors has been touched for as many as four goals in a game only three times in his career, and two of those were internationals versus Vinasola. Which is why he was bound and determined to come away from this second game of the XXIV World Cup of Hockey with a better showing.

He got it, a shutout at the expense of well-behaved Semarland, who were able to launch only 27 shots, 15 of them getting through. The lone goal for the victorious Swans came early in the first period, when Semarland was still getting its bearings on Borschic ice. The second line of Anselm, Baarda and Ganesmund, the most productive so far in this competition, traded passes around the perimeter, holding the puck for near on a minute in the Semarland zone. Then Anselm took the puck himself, curling in from beyond the left point. Semarland overreacted, and Anselm slipped the puck to Baarda, who was waiting on the far goal post. He tapped the puck in for goal number two of the Cup.

As hospitality is the habit of Borschers, the Swans did not see fit to score another goal, as it became clear the Semar team was not going to launch a credible attack against them. It could have been the brandy festival that did in the visitors the night before the game. Borschic brandy has been known to have pacifying effects on those who drink it. It was clear the nation was glad and proud to host its first global visitor, and a people, by coincidence, who had much in common with us, including Northern European ancestors.

The game therefore had something of the atmosphere of a friendly, and only two penalties were called, one on Kelmenstremmer of Te Staff for high sticking, and one on the young defenseman Johansson for cross-checking Jelle Sudmaas near the goalmouth. But politeness was the order of the day. Semarland's goalie, Marko Nielson, showed himself capable, stopping 29 of 30 shots.

"We must prepare immediately for our next opponent, Quakmybush," said associate head coach Chrojstenkaamps after the game. "A ranked opponent and a game away from our beloved homeplace." Quakmybush lost an away game to Gyatso-Kai, 2-1, in their second game, after humbling unranked Korva 8-4 in the first.

Chrojstenkaamps verified that Moordfors would again be in goal. "We will rest him as necessary," he said. "But he is in good form now." Matexipar would agree.

Korva and Arkaisis end in 2-2 tie

Following the 5-2 win over Semarland, Arkiasis faced Korva at the Bank of Korva Center in New Constantine. Korva is another newcomer into the World Cup.

The game remained scoreless into the second period until Ethan Loran scored the first goal for Korva on a breakaway following an interception at centre ice. Arkiasis answered back later in the 2nd with a goal from defenceman Logan Ross. Scoring opened up early in the 3rd with Korva taking a 2-1 lead following a powerplay goal from Pat Wolfe. Arkiasis managed to tie the game with 5 minutes left in the 3rd with a cross crease goal from Christopher Kowalski to William Francis to tie the game. Both teams were unable to convert in the 5 minute overtime ending the game in a 2-2 tie.

Thomas Washington stopped 25 of 27 shots for Korva while Zack Quirk stopped 21 of 23 for Arkiasis.

Arkiasis will face their toughest challenge yet tomorrow as they face defending World Cup champions Gyatso-kai.

Aquitayne Leads Group Eight

ARENA CENTER, Sangti, ANN - Aquitayne takes the lead in Group Eight to secure number one spot.

In one of the closer matches this match day in the 24th World Cup of Hockey, the Aquitaynian Men's National Hockey Team beat out the SJT Men's Hockey Team in a narrow two-to-one victory. While many of the other teams across the board in this tournament had match outcomes in the teens, this match proved to be one where the Aquitaynian defense really showed their mettle and secured the win for our country. SJT was an unranked team, but they're proving to be a very formidable foe - not to be underestimated in the slightest.

Sports analysts across the country agree that Aquitayne stands poised to make it into the Round of 16's and improve their overall position within the world leaderboard this time around. Aquitayne sat out the 22nd and 23rd World Cups of Hockey due to domestic issues which prevented the Men's National Team from traveling abroad to compete; however, in that time the team has grown and stands ready to take on their opponents within Group Eight and move on to the more demanding rounds of the tournament.

This is not to say, however, that the road getting there will be easy. Aquitayne faces teams which are ranked #22, and #17 in the world before their dreams of securing a playoff position are met. Even so, an unranked Men's Team came in to secure a Round of 16's spot in the 21st WCoH, and there are hopes throughout the country that they can do so again.

It waits to be seen how other Astyrian nations fair this time around as well. The 16th ranked Neu Engollian Men's Team currently sits at first place in Group 1 of the tournament, while the Unranked team from Terre de Gaules sits at 5th place in Group 2. Nouvel Ecosse, a nation which is still embroiled in a bloody conflict over Plattesian Adler, sits at 6th place in Group 3. It doesn't seem the people of the country will see any hope in their sports teams.

Image
It's important
that we remember
where ourselves
came from,
as an
unranked team
In a press conference after the match against SJT, Head Coach Holden Molotsky was quoted as stating, "SJT proved to be a formidable foe tonight, and it came as a slight surprise to the coaching staff as well as the players. It's important that we remember where ourselves came from, as an unranked team and came in to secure a Round of 16's spot in our first go;". Coach Molotsky is certainly right in one regard: The Kelsseckian hockey players were, very much so, vastly superior to our own.

It waits to be seen how the Aquitayian Men's Team will fare against their more formidably ranked opponents in this group. While analysts predict a strong and favorable outcome, there is really no way to know for sure what the end score will be until the match is over. It is going to be a nail-biting entry group to the Round of 16's. Aquitaynian fans are hopefull this time around, and many are placing strong bets on the national team in the upcoming match for match day 3. One fan was quoted as saying, "I'm really hopeful for the team this time around. It looks like they've grown, matured, and are better than ever to take us to the championship".

Introducing...
Image
THE GREATER VALHALLAN FEDERATION OF POLAR ISLANDSTATES

Ice Hockey in the Federation, for all its climate may hint at a national obsession, still sits below football in terms of popularity, vying with the rugby codes, veggball, and handball when it comes to the 'honour' of being the nation's 'second sport'. The sport has recently undergone a slight change with the adaptation to include the conference from the new nations in the Valhallan Union, but it's still the big teams that are represented here today.

Polarians are a warm bunch, every as warm as the land they inhabit is cold, and are ruthlessly efficient and athletic almost naturally. They are pacifists by nature, and will rarely start fights. This doesn't mean they won't fight back, of course, and they will give more than as good as they get. The team has undergone a transformation for this cycle, with the entire squad almost unrecognisable from that which had come before. The new coaches, Norheim and Borzakov, have selected a young team; one that they hope will be able to grow old together and become the force in international hockey that the nation was once before, a long time ago. Of particular note in this selection are the trio of teenage players in the second line. Charpentier, Rousseau, and Duchamps are all from the Rochefroides community, and though they now play elsewhere, it is hoped by Norheim that this connection from their youth will tie them together into a dynamic and closely knit second line of attack. They're all charismatic and good-looking, too, giving Polarian hockey the closest thing its ever had to a Timo Skye-like talisman.

Hopes are high for a gradual improvement in fortunes, therefore, and a team rebrand reflects this. Gone are the firs of the previous design, and instead in come the bears.

Names in bold are Britonisea players. I don't know what kind of names he wants, so I used an english-name based generator.

Hello ladies and gentlemen of Esparmuran and Britonisea! I'm Eddie Tuft.
And I'm Betty Gladwin, tonight in the newly built 700-seat Randell Community Centre! It's our boys, the Espar IceCaps...
...Against Britonisea!

So what can we recap from last game, and what do we know about Britonisea?
Well, they were 2nd in the NS Athletics Championships. Impressive, I'd say.
Indeed, let's see if that athletic skill can translate into hockey skill!
Quite, let's recap what happened last game.
Aye, Gregoryisgodistan was having a great night, having a four nothing lead if it wasn't for their hot tempered goalies causing some trouble with the officials. After that, they had to use one of their defensive players as their goaltender. They really lost their chance at that point.
Not only that, but Dalton Toller and Erik Morris of the IceCaps were injured with a major concussion and broken leg respectively. Hopefully they'll be alright, Although I doubt they'll be able to join back onto the team. As you know, many players who signed up didn't make the cut. Considering the most unfortunate injuries sustained by Toller and Morris, newcomers and now injury reserves #93 Scotty Gully and #34 Lennox School will be taking their place.
And with that, we're dropping the puck in the opening faceoff in three, two, one...

...

Hello everyone, we're back from a commercial break, with no scoring with 2:09 left in the first. It's been a defensive dream and an offensive nightmare for both teams at the moment. Britonisea couldn't capitalize on a power play during the break. Let's see if we can get anything going with this drop of the puck, Irving vs. Ayers... Irving holds up Ayers as Kipling takes the puck, he's coming up to Oakley, Oakley tries to bat the puck from his stick, but Kipling dekes across him! he passes it to Evanson and he SCORES!!! There's the first of the night and it's a nice one timer! 1-0 Britonisea!

...

Mitchell to Lynwood, and he - oh, what a hit! Sharrow just destroyed Mitchell long after he passed the biscuit. That's going to be called a double minor - interference and charging. We're here at the faceoff, Royston and Irving... Royston gets it and passes to Sidney, he fires it from the slotAND ITS IN!! ICECAPS GOOOOAAAALLL!!! IT'S 1-1!! Just five seconds after the PP begins and they get the game tying goal.

...

...but it's intercepted by School! He's on the rush, going for the shot AND ITS IN!!!! 2-1 ESPARMURAN!

...

Beake goes for the puck, he shoots, but the Britonisea goalie gloves it! Great save!

...

We're now ten minutes into the third period, and the IceCaps are on the penalty kill again, Aiken comes up the rush, but Blackwood poke checks him and it goes sliding over the blue line towards White. White skates out of the net to play the puck, he tries to dump it over, but Michaels grabs it! he passes it to Aiken, AND AIKEN SHOOTS!! No goal! What an amazing save by White!

...

...Bone's behind his net, he's trying to make a play... there, he shoots it over to Maynard, he's up the side, passing it over to Faulkner, he dumps it for a line change- wait, IT'S IN!! Even though he wanted to just dump it, it went through the defenders and their goalie couldn't see it! 3-1 Esparmuran!

...

one minute left to go in the third period, Britonisea pulls their goalie, it's now 6-5. Horne has the puck, he's skating over to Pierson, giving him the puck, he goes for the shot but misses! Beake takes it and and skates up the side and shoots, he scores! Empty net goal from the blue line!

5... 4... 3... 2... 1... AND IT'S DONE! Esparmuran wins their first home game! A great play displayed by both clubs here!

World Cup of Hockey XXIV - Havl 5, Saintland 2

Capital City – On a night when Havl Hockey honored two of its greatest players, the current squad of veterans and new faces capped off the festivities with a 5-2 victory over World Cup of Hockey 23 hosts Saintland. Centerman Justin Donndelinger and goaltender Davis Rich, who each announced their retirement from the national team after losing to Gyatso-kai in the finals four years ago, saw their jersey numbers raised to the rafters at Sparky Stadium before the second match day of the new tournament.

"It's touching," said Davis Rich. The Capital City native backstopped the Havl squad to three consecutive World Cups (20, 21, 22) and won two Solo Cups with the HHL's Capital City Captains in a 19-year career. "I think it means more to the fans to see [the number] up there in the rafters," said Rich. "It's a nice gesture."

Donndelinger, who served as the team's first captain in its debut in the 19th iteration of the tournament, seemed more moved by the ceremony than his longtime teammate. "You know, it really means a lot," said Donndelinger. "I've played my whole career here in Capital City, and to be among the first to be honored by the national team, it's almost too good to be true."

Speaking for Havl Hockey, the organization responsible for maintaining the national hockey program, president Jane Haustra noted these two players' unique place in the nation's sporting history.

"Before these two set foot on the ice in a Havl uniform, no one had ever seen a Havl national team," said Haustra. "No one knew what to expect. But by the time they removed those uniforms for the last time, they had built a legacy of high expectations that will continue for generations."

In five editions of the World Cup of Hockey, Donndelinger and Rich posted enviable records. Donndelinger scored 34 goals and 68 assists for a whopping 98 points in 87 games. That puts the Captain at an impressive 1.12 points per game. Davis Rich earned 28 shutouts, a World Cup of Hockey record, and posted a career 1.53 goals-against average with an impressive 93.8 save percentage. What's uniquely impressive is that only one other goalie has started a game for Team Havl; you'd have to go back to the 19th edition of the World Cup of Hockey to find a player other than Rich in the net (Lance Wall earned a shutout against Ziketonia on MD8).

Havl Hockey honored Justin Donndelinger and Davis Rich by retiring their jerseys on Sunday.

Facing their highest-ranked opponent in Group 9, the first-ranked Havl squad relied on a mix of youth and experience to defeat 23rd-ranked Saintland on Monday. Rookie Brad Neubauer earned his second goal of the tournament to open the scoring in the first period. Jason State scored soon after, earning his second goal to move past Donndelinger on Havl's all-time scoring list. State, known for his accurate wrist shot, reveled in stealing some of Donndelinger's thunder.

"Hey, if he wasn't so old, maybe he could get on the ice and try to take the record back," said State.

Andrei Petrov netter his first goal of the tournament on a pass from Adam Fleer early in the second period to move Havl ahead 3-0. But Saintland was quick to respond. Matthaeus Artorius scored a pair of goals in quick succession to bring the Sanctii squad within one. Coach Donofrio continued to place faith in rookie goaltender Haley Hasenpfeffer despite the second Artorius goal appearing to be one that the Davenport native could have easily stopped.

The 19-year old HHL rookie shocked the world when she was announced to replace the retiring Rich for the 24th edition of the World Cup of Hockey. Despite having only one season of experience with the Davenport Pilots, the young goaltender impressed Coach Donofrio en route to winning the league's Rookie of the Year and various goaltending awards.

"It's a lot of pressure, but that's what goalies live for, isn't it?" said Hasenpfeffer. After an eye-opening match that saw her give up three goals against unranked Zenic, Hasenpfeffer insisted that she was ready for the challenge. "[Havl] is a great team; I'm ready to give them my best."

The three-time champions pulled ahead from Saintland with goals from Beierle and Zaradnik to end the third period. It marked the second time in two games that the team scored five goals, but with five goals against, the team are tied with New North Aqmuland in Group 9 with a +5 goal differential.

With the win, Havl is tied for the lead of Group 9 with New North Aqmuland. Coverage of World Cup of Hockey XXIV continues on HTVM Tuesday as Havl faces 40th-ranked New North Aqmuland for their first away game of the tournament.

Part 1

Sean rushed over to Miranda's house after getting the message. Miranda's mom was working late so it wouldn't be an issue. And even still, Miranda's mom wouldn't notice. She would be so tired after working that it'd be hard to her even being able to keep her eyes open long enough to see a teenage boy at her house without her consent.

It wasn't so much that Miranda's mom was absent, than it was that she had to carry the load now. Miranda's dad had died in a tragic car crash when she was just 6. And since that day Miranda's mom had assumed the role of the breadwinner for her and her daughter. Because of that, Miranda and her mom seldom talked. She was just too tired. Miranda unfortunately, didn't always understand that. So it left them with a strained relationship. Even so, Miranda did everything she could to make her mother proud. She brought home good grades with hopes of getting into a good college on a Financial Scholarship, and being self-sufficient.....But this baby. This baby could throw a wrench in everything.

"So...what do we do?" Sean asked.

"There's nothing we can do Sean. There's no way out here. I'm pregnant. And there's no way that I'll be able to get rid of this baby."

"But this can't be happening. It just can't be happening. I've got a future to think about. Coach says I might be able to go and play for Bellmont. I can't raise a kid. I can't"

"Well you can't leave me alone to raise a fucking kid! You were as much apart of this as I was..."

"That's...that's not what I meant babe. Of course, of course I'll be there. It's just. I don't know. This ruins everything. It just ruins everything."

"My mom's going to kill me. She's going to kick me out. She's going to kick me out. I can't keep it hidden forever, and it's not like your parents will let me stay with you. They hate me."

"No, they don't hate you. They just thought you were a distraction from Hockey and School."

"And they were definitely right.....I'm done for. What am I gonna do? I can't ask anyone for help, everyone's going to turn me away. I just can't....." Miranda cried inside Sean's arms, until he had to leave.

Unfortunately, Miranda's fears had been realized sooner than she thought. Her mom had found a discarded pregnancy test discarded in the trash, and she did in fact kick Miranda out.

"After all the toiling, after all the sweat, after all the mother fucking tears! You can't even keep your legs closed? I do everything I can to keep this family afloat and you just can't help but sink it by having a fucking baby. Get the hell out my house. Get the hell out my house. I can't do this anymore, I can't live with it anymore. Everything always has to happen to me, everything, every damn thing. My life can't stay normal, and my family can't stay together. I'm done with it. Get the hell out."

It's hard to actually blame her mom for what she said. Her mom had in fact lived a hard life that never seemed to be going the right way, and teenage pregnancy was frowned upon in Eastern Vettrera to say the least...

Miranda had been sleeping inside the school building, or well Miss Tipton's room to be more specific. She had no where to go, and no where to hide. So she would just wait for MIss Tipton to leave the building, break into her room, lay down some blankets, and sleep there. About a month into this ordeal, though, Miss Tipton had found out what was going on.

After grading papers on Durango, Miss Tipton had left the building. Unfortunately, left her car keys back in her classroom, so she asked the janitor to let her back in, the janitor of course happily obliged.

"What the hell? What are you doing in here?"

"I'm pregnant....and my mom kicked me out the house. Sean's parents won't let me stay with him, and neither will any of my friends' parents. Hell, I've lost half my friends because of this. I just have no where else to stay. Don't tell anyone. Please"

"Uh...I'm going to lose my job for this. But grab your stuff. You can stay with me"

Lions Offense Clicking, Defense Still Has Work to Do

Martin Granger, Staff Reporter

A game removed from notching seven goals against hapless Flammable American States, the Nova Anglicana Lions put on another offensive show, scoring five goals against their foes from Torisakia. The unfortunate thing is, they conceded seven goals and had to pull veteran Andrés Kelly after just two periods.

The game started well enough, with 3rd-line wing Jordan Bergeron firing a one-timer home at 5:45, giving the Lions their only lead of the game. The Lions were pressuring the Ice Birds and keeping the puck in the Torisakian end of the ice, until hot-headed Marq Brint got called for boarding at 7:27, violently checking Gerald Shattuck into the boards, leaving the Lions short-handed for five minutes. Shattuck had previously delivered a solid check to Jacques Crist, knocking him off the puck, and it appeared that Brint was retaliating. Shattuck did not appear to sustain an injury, and Brint's bone-headed move cost the Lions. Just 17 seconds into the power play, young Jason Junkins fired one past Kelly to tie the score. The Lions held off a vicious Torisakian onslaught for the next four minutes, but with just 25 seconds remaining on the man advantage, Daren Rosales blasted the puck clean through the Lions defense and into the back of the net. Jessica Holbrook showed some impressive skating near the end of the period, and weaved her way past Nova Anglican defenders to find the back of the net and give Torisakia a 3-1 lead at the end of a period.

The Lions closed to 3-2 on Jacques Crist's breakaway, where he easily beat Torisakian netminder Isaac Ramos with a deke and an upper-shelf finish. Cassidy McKenzie deflected a Jonathan Lewis shot past Kelly at 6:46, and Lyndsey Reed had a nice wraparound score just 45 seconds later to push the Ice Birds' lead to 5-2. Dallas Carlson, the former U20 star, found the back of the net with a sizzling slap shot at 15:41 to cut the lead back to two goals, but Cody Riley was called for interference, and the Lions' penalty kill was once again not up to the task, conceding a second goal to Jason Junkins at 18:32. The Lions trailed 6-3, and when the third period started it was not Andrés Kelly, but Bryan Blake who took the ice at goalie.

Kelly did make 23 saves, but his six goals conceded showed the clear difference between Torisakia and the FAS. Perhaps facing just 19 shots against the FAS did not adequately prepare him for the Torisakian onslaught. Bryan Blake did not appear ready either, as Kristen White, taking the first Torisakian shot of the period, banged it home off the pipes less than a minute into the period. If the rout had not been on up to this point, it was officially on. The Lions would prove unable to come back from the four-goal deficit, cutting it to three on a wrister from Zach McCoy at 7:45, but going scoreless until they pulled Blake for a sixth attacker in the final minute. Matt Grier found the captain René Robinson, who slipped it in under Ramos' pads at 19:35 to cut the deficit to two, but it was far too late.

The Lions left Torisakia having had their butts handed to them. Head Coach Cecil Palmer was seen red-faced and screaming throughout the game as the Ice Birds racked up 41 shots and seven goals. The crisp passing and good stickhandling so present against the FAS was mostly absent against Torisakia and one may chalk up the Lions' five goals mostly to the ultra-aggressive Torisakian play, with little regard for defense. The Lions have seen the best of the group and know what they need to work on. They must now focus on not dropping points against the teams well below them. They sit in fourth place at 1-0-1, but play New South Aqmuland, HopNation and Crystal Empire next, without a rank, ranked 53rd, and 62nd, respectively. New South Aqmuland has absorbed two defeats, to Torisakia, and Crystal Empire, and should not pose much of a threat to the Lions. HopNation and Crystal Empire tied each other 0-0, and both have wins over unranked teams. They both will have played Torisakia by the time the Lions face them, and are likely to have taken their first defeats. The Lions cannot afford to slack off, but it looks like they are entering a forgiving stretch of the schedule.

Tommy's Blog

Alright, who wants a go? Oh, uh, hello. So as I said before, I had tickets for every game this tournament, but my tickets for the game against Nova Anglicana were stolen by that inspector who inspected David. WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT?! So here I am stranded at home to watch the game on TV, that's a shame. David had a little accident and bumped his head on the stairs outside my apartment and had to go to the hospital, he's okay by the way, so he didn't go to the game. Lloyd sat on his orange, and burst it, getting orange juice all over his pants and all over his tickets. So that was that.

Lets get on to the game, shall we? So the game came on TSPN around six in the evening, so I had a lot of time to kill. It was around noon when my phone rang, I wonder who it could be? I have on of those little earpieces where you press a button and you answer the call, so I did. "Hello!" I said, there was silence on the other end. "Slowing down are you?" I said, talking louder this time. A scraggly voice started talking on the other end, "I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want. If you're looking for ransom I can tell you right now that I don't have any money. But what I do have are a particular set of skills, skills that I have acquired over a very long career. I don't know where you are, but I will find you. And I will kill you.", there was silence. Finally I said "Is that you Harrybo? You're still alive? You promised you'd die!", then he just hangs up, he just hangs up! HA! So that was that. Oh, uh, about the game, yes. It was quite enjoyable.

The first period was fantastic! A good while of back-and-forth missing, but Nova Anglicana broke the silence with a goal by Jordan Bergeron at 5:45. Fortunately the Ice Birds took advantage of a power-play and pretty-boy Junkins scored to tie it up. Ifeelabitsickactually. Nova Anglicana fought to hold us off, but with 25 seconds left in the power-play, Daren slapshot one to the back of the net to lift Torisakia to a 2 to 1 lead. Near the end of the period, Jessica got one in to give us a 3 to 1 lead. HA! The second period, it wasn't quite like I wanted it. The Lions broke it to a 3 to 2 lead on a breakaway by Jacques Crist and Issac's poor judgment. Cassidy answered back on a deflection at 6:46 to make it 4 to 2, and Lyndsey took it again 45 seconds later to add up to a three point lead. Fantastic! However, the Lions cut the defect back to two following a Dallas Carlson shot at 15:41. Again, the Ice Birds were on the rise on a powerplay and pretty-faggot boy Junkins scored again at 18:32 to make it 6 to 3 at the end of the 2nd period. By this time, Nova Anglicana pulled their star player. HA! Not long into the 3rd did Kristen get one in off the pipes to take a 4 point lead, making it almost impossible for the Lions to come back. Nova Anglicana would score twice more, but it would prove impossible for a miracle. Giving Torisakia a 7-5 win and their second win of the tournament.

So it wasn't that bad of a game, except we're being a little too aggressive. I'd expect that more from Cassidy or Kristen or Jessica. But anything works too. Yeah, okay, yeah yeah, okay. So the defense, it was a little bit better this time, but we shouldn't be giving up two goals near the end of the game and finishing with lopsided scores like 7-5. It's just wrong. Anyways, it was a great game by both sides. Great to see us actually winning and not tying, Jessica! Right, so next up is HopNation, who beat Flammable American States today 1-0. and currently sit at third place in Group 12, with Torisakia in first place and Crystal Empire just behind them. HopNation shouldn't be too much of a threat, considering how good our offense is and how our defense can cling on against others. But maybe they've been bluffing. Maybe HopNation is fully of hockey gurus who try to throw off their toughest opposition in co-ordinance with Bill Gates and the UN who plan to spread communism in Africa. Gah, when I post here tomorrow, I'm going to burst John's ducks. I swear, I swear I will!

Zeneabo 1–10 Nassau Hessen
Rated B For Blowout

Well, well, well, how does everybody like Nassau now!? The Eagles absolutely demolished Zeneabo in their second game by an outrageous score that reached double digits. Whether this scrimmage was won through determination, experience, skill, or a combination of those is up to debate. One fact that does not change, however, is that Zeneabo may not want to show their faces to the next game.

The first period started and the Eagles got things going.....with a goal nine seconds into the game through a snapshot by Luke Pearson from a pass by Oscar Johnson. That goal set a pretty clear tone of who would win the game. The Hessen were relentless, and roughed up a few of the Zeneabans, allowing easier access to the net. Despite the vivacious start and a clear show of dominance, the next goal was not scored until there was six minutes left in the period. The next score came from none other than Todd Harrison, who gave a swift untapped sniper shot that hit both the left and right posts. To sum up the entire first period, Nassau makes it clear Zeneabo will lose.

The second period was a nightmare for the Zenebeans, if they thought the first was bad, the second period was ten times worse. The first Nassauite goal in the second period came from Olaf Lieldland near the fourteen minute mark as a screened shot that went five hole. Instead of an opposing response like the last game, the Eagles kept on rolling with an ensuing goal two minutes later. The fourth goal was acquired by Todd Harrison once again, who received a long pass from Ryan Berian while changing, he managed to deke the goalie out and score his second of the game. Only three minutes later, with just nine minutes left in the period, Gustav Hjalmerson scored by a quick wrap around, making the score five to a large, empty nil. Amazingly, twenty nine seconds later, Frank Heimer, a line mate of Gustav, scored from a quick response to a rebound to increase the lead. The Eagles capped off the massacre with the completion of Todd Harrison's hat trick with five and a half minutes to go, by which he did a slap shot into the lower right corner from a slow pass. Zeneabo's goalie was replaced, and the opposing side escaped the period with unfixable damage.

The third period was pretty much practice for the Eagles, as they had no need for a sense of urgency at the moment. Melvin Harlatrov scored first for the Redpurps, as he and Gerry Melbourne expertly executed a 2 on 0 with thirteen minutes in the period. Zeneabo got a slight bit of luck with half of the period to go, as Jacob Anders was screened, miscalculated a shot, and gave up his only goal of the game through the sixteen shots he's faced. Derrick Clutterbuck scored by a strong wrist shot between the glove arm and the body of the opposing goalie, making it nine to one. The Eagles ended the thumping by a breakaway goal from Olaf Liedland that just went pass the ear of the backup goalie. The final score truly did represent the dominance Nassau possessed in that game, but it most likely wouldn't last as reality set back in.

The Eagles were able to earn a number two spot in the division through the "crushing" of their opponents. Hicana valiantly, and narrowly, lost to Cassadaigua, and was demoted to fourth place. Group Four, is seems, may have a four horse race in the standings. Cassadaigua, Hicana, Caek of the Wolfen, and us are all in it to win it. Next up for the Hessians, a home game against the division leaders, Cassadaigua.

The Hockey Gods have taken it easy on us so far. We’ve come away with a tie against Crystal Empire and then given us a win over Flammable American States. I don’t think they will be shining over us going forward as we face Torisakia next. A team sitting a top our group and also holding the top ranked spot in for our group. Hopefully we can play them well, keep it close, and perhaps even come away with a draw or better. The real surprise for our Mashers is the lack of goals, we’ve only put in one so far. Not nearly enough to matter at least not with our upcoming opponent who has notched 12 so far. We better be on our game if we want anything good to happen in this next match up. Other news from the group: we only have one team with two wins, then two teams with two losses. So it seems it could be an evenly matched group, for now. There are still is still a lot of ice time to come and things should start to fall into place in another match day or two. I figure that at the midway point we’ll see the teams in what will be close to their final finishing positions. Hopefully our Mashers will be sitting in a high enough spot to make a run for the playoffs. I think we could but we have a lot to do before then.

Anditia 0–1 Gregoryisgodistan

"Hello, I'm Sportscaster 1200ZNA and we are coming to you live from Winkton Arena in Orodun, Anditia for today's World Cup of Hockey Group Stage game between the hosts Anditia and Gregoryisgodistan. Let's get ready for the action. And it's Nestor Van Ryk to take the opening faceoff against Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Harry Rupertson. And the Ice Slaves control the faceoff, up ahead to Pervert Chaser JDJJ8138, he shoots, off the post, Weatherman 92UDH9111 tries for it but it's saved by Corwin Buvol. Good job attacking the net, but the Ice Slaves can't score anything. 0-0.

...

"12:44 left in the first period, and what a hard hit by Enemy Crusher Porkbert McPorkerstein on Tim Stone. Stone looks hurt. He might be concussed. He's not moving. I don't think he's dead, but he's not moving. Emergency personnel are tending to him, they say it's probably a concussion. He will be taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, it's a five minute major for crosschecking on Enemy Crusher Porkbert McPorkerstein - the Ice Slaves won't get the favorable calls from officials now that they're off home ice for the first time this tournament.

...

"6:09 left in the first period, here comes Wallock with a shot - SAVED by Enemy Crusher Franky "Fatso" McFattel knocking it away with his 500 lb. frame, Wallock shoots the rebound, saved again, here's Nelson, knocked away by the goaltender again, before Prison Guard QQQQPPPAL clears it down the ice. Oh, an opportunity here for the Ice Slaves as Enemy Crusher Fattelson Crusherbarger is back with nobody else there, but they say he's offside. And he's not happy about it either. Will he crush the official? Yes, he is crushing the official, Petrus Sanctus of Saintland, or at least he's trying to, but Anditian police are restraining him and trying to arrest him. But now Enemy Crusher Fattelson Crusherbarger breaks free and is escaping the ice arena. Let's watch our Enemy Crusher Cam to see what happens. He's quickly taking his skates off and throwing them away haphazardly - one looks like it caught a fan in the eye. But now he's in his socks and he runs to the first driver he sees in the parking lot, crushes him to death, steals his car, and he's driving to the airport. Now it looks like he's crushing all the passengers on a commercial plane plus the pilot and co-pilot. This is why all Enemy Crushers who travel abroad must take flying lessons - they might need to escape in this method someday. It's come in handy before. Now Enemy Crusher Fattelson Crusherbarger is hijacking the plane with all the crushed people on it to Gregoryisgodistan. He will land safely in a few hours. Now back to the game.

....

"15:09 left in the second period, here comes Enemy Crusher Bigmac Fatfrize, passes it up ahead to Slave Beater NDNSHYQ19 he shoots - IT'S IN! GREGORYISGODISTAN TAKES A 1-0 LEAD HERE IN ANDITIA! Great goal, great pass, Ice Slaves lead 1-0. Considering no Ice Slave goaltender has allowed a goal this tournament (all the goals in the opener were allowed by a defenseman after all goaltenders were ejected) this one should be enough to seal it.

...

"3:09 left in the second period, and a hard hit by Enemy Crusher Crushallov St. Lind on Kyle Pane. Pane gets up and shoves Enemy Crusher Crushallov St. Lind to the ground, angering him. And now Enemy Crusher Crushallov St. Lind gets up but is punched again by Pane. And now Enemy Crusher Crushallov St. Lind is trying to crush Kyle Pane to death but is pulled off. Both are going to be sent to the penalty box for fighting, or will they be tossed? Yep, they're both getting tossed. Shame. And as they head to the dressing rooms, they get into another fight. Pane punches Enemy Crusher Crushallov St. Lind who then slams Pane into the boards, but Pane is all right it looks like and they will head to their respective dressing rooms having been tossed.

...

"9:48 left in the game, here comes Van Ryk on the attack, he shoots, great full body save, Nelson shoots, stopped AGAIN and here's the third shot and finally Enemy Crusher Franky "Fatso" McFattel covers it. It will be a faceoff in the Anditia offensive zone. It's won by Thomas, to D'Aura, he shoots, another great save! That's his 38th tonight. And cleared down by the Ice Slaves out of danger.

...

"1:09 left in the game and Anditia pulls their goaltender. Enemy Crusher Franky "Fatso" McFattel has been spectacular in net today for the Ice Slaves, saving all 49 shots. Here comes D'Aura, he shoots, make it 50, full body block. Nelson tries to shoot the rebound, another full body block, deflected away and cleared out of the zone. 45 seconds left, Funar recovers, but needs to wait for everyone to get back. Now there's 30 seconds left and here is the pass to Van Ryk, who shoots, stick save by Enemy Crusher Franky "Fatso" McFattel and he knocks it away. 20 seconds left, there's the centering pass to Nelson but it's taken away by Enemy Crusher Porkbert McPorkerstein and he's just going to knock it down the ice. It will hit off the post, just missing a goal, but avoiding an icing. Nobody for Anditia will get there in time, and that's going to do it. Final score is Gregoryisgodistan 1 Anditia 0. Ice Slaves move into first place in their group, and will face Britonisea next at home. See you tomorrow night."
