However, success in the tournament will require far more then the initial signup. Many of you know what you need to do now, but there are some first timers in the mix, and we want them to start off on the right foot, too.

Step by Step Guide to Possible Success:
Step 1: Realize that regardless of how much or how little nations do, that scores are randomly generated via xkoranate. There will be times where you feel "there is no way I should have lost that game", and you do lose the game. Roleplay will greatly improve your chances of winning, as does a nations' rank. But sometimes, even when everything seems to have been pointing in one direction, the random factor (referred to as "Margaret") will trump all other variables when xkoranate generates a score.

Step 2: Realize that while we all want to win, the purpose of the competition is to have fun.

Now, with that, let's get to the nitty gritty,
Step 3: Create a roster. Here are examples of rosters: Example A Example B Example C
Notice that bit about RP permissions? This is where you tell your opponents what is ok and what is not ok for them to RP concerning your team if they RP the game first. The nation that RP's the game first decides what may or may not have happened in the game. For example, if they say your star player had only 6 points and shot miserably, then you cannot say they had 25 points and had a great game. (assuming of course your permissions allowed for a statement to be possible). However, you can give another excuse for why they only had 6 points, perhaps it was because he was constantly being fouled by the opponent, and the referees were too busy checking out people in the stands when it happened.

Creating a roster also serves as an opportunity to gain a day's worth of RP bonus.

Step 4: Roleplay.
Tell us what happened in the game. Tell us what's going on with your team, or a player? Or what's going on in your nation? If nothing else, participate. Some nations will roleplay frequently and also in a lengthy manner. This is wonderful and it adds a lot to the competition. But if you don't have as much time on your hands, don't let that discourage, and roleplay what you can. Quality is always greater then quantity, and there are long RPs that ramble and say little, and there are short RPs that do a great job with providing information. Please participate at whatever level you are able. Every game day, or matchday, represents a new opportunity for a nation to get RP bonus, and RP bonus is cumulative.

Remember that this is an in-character thread. Any questions about the competition MUST go in the Discussion Thread

Step 5: Pray to Margaret

Again, Margaret is goddess that controls the random factor when scores are generated. Pray to her that you have success. She also enjoys rubber chicken sacrifices.

Format:
12 Groups of 5, double round robin. Top two per group make the playoffs. Group winners, regardless of record, occupy seeds 1-12. 2nd place teams, regardless of record, occupy seeds 13-24. The first playoff round will see that seeds 1-8 get a first round bye, and seeds 9-24 meet in the first round. It will be a standard bracket format, and there will be no re-seeding. All playoff series, other then the championship, are a best of three, while the championship is a best -of-five.
Tiebreakers used are: H2H, H2H PD, H2H PF, Overall PD, Overall PF, coin toss

Schedule: (the cutoff for the group draw and all matchdays should be expected between 11:30am, & 12:30pm Eastern USA time)
Group Draw: April 26*
(Pre IBC 14 cheerleading competition): April 29, Concord Heights, Cassadaigua**

Championship, Game 2: May 25
Championship, Game 3: May 26
Championship, Game 4: May 27
Championship, Game 5: May 28

*- The group draw date of April 26 can also be considered a cutoff for RP. RP's before the group draw are one opportunity to gain a max day or RP, and RP's after the draw and before May 1 will be another chance. This is in addition to the roster bonus.

**- You can completely ignore this if you want. It's just an opportunity for RP material before the competition begins. I would prefer to be starting games earlier but have made a promise not to start the competition until after the World Cup is over.

Any questions? Feel free to ask, but do so in the discussion thread. Roster submission and roleplays may begin at anytime.

Reserved for stadium information.

The Arena at Concord Heights- Located in Concord Heights, you will be playing in the nation's premier sporting venue. The arena sits adjacent to the more well known Concord Heights Stadium, which has played host most recently to the title game of World Cup 67, and would have an impressive resume of international events even if it wasn't for that. The basketball arena is held to the same standards of being a state of the art facility. It's capacity is 24,250 and there are a total of 114 luxury suites. As Concord Heights is a very large city, it's population is very diverse.

Brat Tech Arena- Located in Brattleboro, this is a luxurious 19,000 seat arena situated on the campus of Brattleboro Technical Institute. As the nations leader in technological advancement, the school implements such advancements regularly into the arena, making this the best spot in Cassadaigua's second largest city to hold a basketball tournament. The city has a younger and more wealthy demographic.

Fraser Arena- Located in New Lakeland, the stadium and arena received its new name in honor of the Eric Fraser- Stacie Kerrigan union that was famous back in our One Big Island days. Knowing the history of that is not important, and the arena is a bit older, but maintained very well. Since the city of New Lakeland was not initially a Cassadagan city, and annexed when the former nation of Secristan ceased, this is the one city in the nation where men seem to enjoy the "most rights". Capacity: 20,000.

Seth Johnson Arena- Located in Grande Mountain, this another arena that recently received a new name. This is in honor of Seth Johnson, the Grande Mountain University student who was raped and murdered by Meghan Kinson, a story that could be recollected from our press releases in IBC 13. Since this is also where Ashley Stokes, the star basketball player who was also murdered by Kinson, played, some feel that this arena should honor her, and not Johnson. Since this is a basketball tournament, expect to hear protests over this. Capacity: 16,000

Winchester Arena- A smaller arena, seating about 14,500, in the central part of the nation. Be advised that the locals do not like you. This is a city with the nations oldest demographic who only allows its city to host international events because of the money your traveling supporters bring to the city, and that they can then blow at bingo halls.

Starksville Arena- Welcome to Cassadaigua's fastest growing city. As such, we are increasing using Starksville as a location for international events that we host. You'll be playing in a modern arena that did not have the builders go crazy with adding seats. A comfortable 16,200 is the capacity, with some of the best sightlines you could ask for. Outside of the arena, the area is growing and is no Concord Heights or Brattleboro, but it's coming along well.

Victoriaville Arena- Southwest Cassadaigua's largest city probably would never be chosen if it was located in the east, but the Queen tries to spread things around so that as much of the local population can take in games without having to travel too far. That said, there's nothing necessarily wrong with the city, and you should be able to find something to do. The arena isn't as modern as the others, but the 17,700-seater will serve its purpose adequately enough.

Ferguson Arena- Located in Rutland, the city that is considered the birthplace of Cassadagan international sports, even moreso then Concord Heights, because it was the home of Courtney Ferguson, often considered the matriach of international sport in our country. That was a while ago, and the city has relied on the past a little bit to continue getting big games like this. It's a passionate city for sport, but the arena itself might be a disappointment to some that see the other arenas that other nations are playing in. It seats 13,600.

C - #10 Stephanus Axius - 6 feet, 11 inches
C - #05 Davidus Sornatius - 7 feet

Notes

Prince Ioannes is the younger brother of King Petrus XX, the star quarterback for the Saintland National Gridiron Team and current King of Saintland. He is the older brother of Prince Josephus, the goalkeeper for the Saintland National Ice and Field Hockey team that won the silver medal in the VIII Winter Olympics and finished 3rd at the last edition of the World Championship in Field Hockey. He is also the older brother of Prince Josephus's twin Prince Andreas, the captain of the Saintland National Soccer Team that recently upset the #2 ranked team in their opening match of the World Cup finals. Prince Ioannes was the tallest of the sons of King Paulus XV, so he became a basketball player. He is already widely considered the best big man ever to play in Saintland's basketball league and he is the 3-time reigning league MVP. His only weakness is the 3-point shot. Although the Saintland National Basketball Team is often slow to get back on defense, Prince Ioannes is a great defensive player when he is in position. Axius is a good center, except for his poor shooting on foul shots. Sornatius is the newest addition to the team. He received a special accommodation from the University of Saintland, where he is a 3rd (final) year student, to play in this edition of the IBC. Sornatius is primarily a defensive specialist, who will see most of his minutes late in games when the Saintland National Team is trying to hold onto a lead. Basically, the Saintland National Basketball Team plays 1960s style basketball, with the center as the main scorer, but the other players will get shots throughout the course of a game. The arena's capacity is nearly the entire population of St. Petrus and the total population of Saintland is around 600 thousand. This team advanced to the Quarterfinals of IBC 12, where they were eliminated by the apple-tossers from Cassadaigua and finished 4th in IBC 13. They are also the reigning Olympic Gold Medalists in the sport and come into this IBC expecting to win it.

The Menukten Weepy Hoops
Image

Menukten lacks the infrastructure for full court basketball, so the primary form of basketball played in Menukten is 3x3, halfcourt or street basketball, played on local dirt courts. Menukten is home to a massive 3x3 basketball league called the Aquenikanligwa, which stands for "Net League". As 3x3 games are short, rarely longer than 10 minutes, expect the Weepy Hoops to tire after the 10th minute and lack stamina. The Weepy Hoops will also favor three point shots over two pointers and will never slam dunk the ball, they being short of stature and hardly able to jump level with the basket.

Roster

Coach:

Alachmumanitou ock Tombicanall. 74. The Weepy Hoops will be coached by Alachmumanitou, international name Timothy Talks-with-Spirits, from Tombicanall place of Crabapples. A monk, Talks-with-Spirits is try to teach youth about traditional squonk spirituality. On the off season he travels with his club Tombicanall playing exhibition games at elementary schools. He led Tombicanall to the fourth tier in the Aquenikanligwa last season and is respected as a competent, experienced coach.

Point guard:

Kshamahelyoack ock Pockhanne. 3'7''. 97 lbs. 31 years old. From Pockhanne between Two Mountains, Kshamahelyoack led the Aqueniligwa in assists last season. He is a team player, play maker, excellent technical dribbler and the Weepy Hoops' team captain.

Shooting Guard:

Ashchemke ock Pockhanne. 3'11''. 116 lbs. 29. Kshamahelyoack's fellow teammate from Pockhanne between Two Mountains, Ashchemke is known for his ability to penetrate the opposing defense with a dribble for a basket. The chemistry between Ashchemke and Kshamahelyoack makes for formidable coordinated attacks that have become notorious in the Aquenikanligwa.

Center:

Sesakakwsi ock Pockhanne. 5'7''. 143 lbs. 36. The Weepy Hoops tallest player, Sesakakwsi completes the Pockhanne dominance of the Weepy Hoops roster. He helped lead Pockhanne to the Aquenikanligwa championships, along with his teammates. He is infamous for being a notable stretch big, not afraid to shoot outside the paint. He is also good at gathering rebounds, contesting shots, and if anyone on the Menukten basketball team is ever accused of goaltending, it would be him. Despite his height, relative to his teammates, he is generally uninterested in dunking, even though he probably could, if he wished. Sesakakwsi has the tallest vertical leap of anyone on the Weepy Hoops.

Small forward:

Wsihoo ock Tombicanall. 4'8''. 106 lbs. 34. From Tombicanall place of Crabapples, Wsihoo draws fouls and scores most of his points on the foul line. With his height, Wsihoo is a defensive specialist, leaping off of teammates backs to contest shots. Since the Weepy Hoops are used to scoring baskets with only three players, the small forward is limited to primarily a defensive position in Menukten basketball.

Power forward:

Chanhane ock Tombicanall. 4'2''. 93 lbs. 38. Also from Tombicanall place of Crabapples, Chanhane, in consort with Wsihoo, uses the leapfrog techinque to guard shots close to the basket. Like the small forward his position, the power forward, is primarily a defensive one in Menukten basketball.

Reserves:

Piselatulpe ock Nolamattink. 3'11''. Point Guard.
Chakolack ock Nolamatthink. 4'1''. Shooting Guard.
Tukomewe ock Petapsqui. 4'5''. Center.
Chinquelepay ock Tankamoshanne. 4'3''. Small forward.
Nushetu ock Wiquajek. 3'8''. Power forward,

Home Court

The Weepy Hoops home court (also used for tennis), Harmony Court, located in Quaekelinink. The Weepy Hoops will be hosting all their home games here. Capacity: whoever you can fit on the sidelines.

RP permissions: anything is fine as long as our roster remains unchanged for the following game day.

Note on strategy: Since squonks are rather short compared to their opponents, the Weepy Hoops have developed a strategy in which one player quickly crouches and another leaps off his back. The Weepy Hoops have found this strategy effective against taller players and in blocking shots.

Concerning Squonks

Squonks, the inhabitants of Menukten, are intelligent, diminutive creatures rarely standing more than five feet tall. There both noted features are their huge, teary eyes, long snouts, fan-like ears and warty skin. Squonks are so convinced of their ugliness that they hide themselves away and weep all day long. As a result, it is very unusual to find squonks sharing each other's company. This usually only happens during certain mourning rituals and sporting events (which, despite their small stature, they are surprisingly good at).

Squonks used to live in the woods of Eastern Pennsylvania, until they were logged by the humans and settled. Fleeing human civilization, the squonks found help from the Fair Folk and settled on a beautiful, lush island they named Lepakamehele. They have been living there since. Centuries later traders discovered Lepakamehele and kidnapped many of its inhabitants to sell as slaves oversees. These squonks were taken to a country called Quinuic to sweat in the cane sugar and tobacco fields. With the help of Dillah, however, the squonks of Quinuic were able to throw off their oppressors and send them back into their boats, leaving the squonks to settle Menukten as their own.

Squonks come in a variety of shapes and forms, one common one illustrated below:

PF : #21 | Nick Sweeney | 6'11" | 25 Y/O
C : #1 | John Pierce | 7'1" | 30 Y/O

*Tyshawn Maleek is a great scorer & assister. Scoring Champ of the Alparian Basketball League, averaging 31 PPG.

*Tyler Akteruzzaman loves to drive, and show off his excellent handles. Last season, he averaged 21 PPG in the APL, and also won the MVP award.

*Sean Cousins loves to take 3 point shots, and shoots them with efficiency. He is shooting 46% from downtown, and made 481 3's last year by far the most in the league.

*Nick Sweeney is a very quiet scorer, but is a great rebounder and loves to dish out. He averages 14 RPG this season in the APL, and 9 Assists.

*John Pierce is a very nice scorer, and loves to show off his dunks. He is the reigning champ of the Dunk Contest for the last 3 years. He is averaging 17 PPG, and 11 RPG. NOT A GREAT FT SHOOTER.

BENCH

PG : #5 | Roy Campbell | 6'2" | 27 Y/O

*Roy Campbell entering his 7th Year has a lot to brag about. He has won 3 championships with the Montreva Fever, and DPOY once. Great 1 on 1 defender; averaged 4 steals a game last season.

*Reigning 6th Man, Leandro Cirinei is averaging 27 PPG, and 7 assists. Great leader in the locker room.

*Tony Pirazza has a very quiet career, but has a deadly mid-range, and baseline game. He is shooting 58%, and 55% from those two locations respectively.

*Kyle Vogel has won the rookie of the year award last season, averaging 23 PPG, and 11 RPG. Another great rebounder, and leader.

*Last but not least is Homero Miramon. Awesome inside scorer, and rebounder. Can be a bit cocky at times, which greatly affects the team.

Somewhere in the Free Republics

With the International Basketball Championships in Cassadaigua fast approaching, the Feministvs Sanctvsterra korfball team was hanging out in a mansion, somewhere in the Free Republics. This mansion had been paid for entirely by Nicholls Enterprises, the Amolotopia-based corporation that financed Feministvs Sanctvsterra. They were still in disbelief that the Queen of Cassadaigua had parroted the Puppet King's propaganda about the speech they broadcast, during the new tyrant's coronation.

Maria - What is wrong with this new Queen of Cassadaigua? Between her interviews and her attacks on us, she almost sounds like she's on the other side!

Martha - I don't know. We really should withhold out judgment for now. It's probably just a misunderstanding.

Iulietta - I'm worried about Cassadaigua. First, they killed Meghan Kinson for a "rape" that never happened and now the new Queen is starting to remind me of some of the doormats back home.

Elizabetha - Don't you think you're being a little unfair? Besides, Cassadaigua is a country where women have achieved many great things. We can't let a few mistakes blind us to what Cassadaigua is.

Agrippina - Why are we arguing amongst ourselves? You all make good points, but we're not going to go after Cassadaigua until they prove that they are no longer on our side.

Iulietta - When are we going to actually do something? Its been forever since the last World Korfball Classic.

Agrippina - There isn't a World Korfball Classic for us to enter, at the moment. However, I have a better idea.

Georgius interrupted her:

Georgius - Sis, I hope you aren't thinking what I think you're thinking.

Agrippina was clearly annoyed as she responded:

Agrippina - We are definitely not going back home any time soon, Georgius. If you're planning to concern troll me today, I hope you think twice about it. I'm not in the mood for it.

Georgius - I'm sorry.

Maria took sympathy on him:

Maria - There, there Georgius. I know you can't help it.

Iulietta - When we take over, retraining all the men to treat women with the respect we deserve is going to be so difficult.

Agrippina - It always is. 1000 years of misogynistic brainwashing isn't going to go away in a day.

Elizabetha - Unfortunately.

Martha - We did sign up for this.

Agrippina - Yes, we did.

Catharina - And our cause is just.

Agrippina - That, it is. Now, I want to let everybody know that we will be traveling to see every "away" game featuring the Puppet King's brother.

Catharina - Good. Will we also be going to Cassadaigua?

Agrippina - If they make it there. Otherwise, there wouldn't be much of a point.

Iulietta - Did anybody hear about that creep in Petrograd who was arrested for loitering in the women's room?

Maria - Eew, I hope they put him behind bars for a long time.

Agrippina - In fact, he's going to spend an entire month in jail. I heard that on TV earlier.

Maria - I hope the other prisoners teach him a lesson!

Martha - I think we all do.

Agrippina - What's important right now, by the Goddess, is that we will soon make our presence felt once again.

Catharina - Its about time.

Elizabetha - Indeed, it is.

Feministvs Sanctvsterra was about to finally return to the grand stage. At the moment, they were uncertain whether they'd have another opportunity to enter the World Baseball Classic, but they knew that they weren't going to let Prince Ioannes play basketball on the road without making their presence felt. The way they saw it, that was the way things should be, as long as the Church of Lies and their Puppet whom they called a King continued their misogynistic ways...

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Anything: Yes - So long as you don't do anything stupid that I'd have a serious objection to, such as portraying my players as being evil, insane, stupid, or killing/seriously injuring them. Teams from the Equestrian States are generally clean, meaning they don't cheat and try to avoid fouls if possible. If you've got any questions, shoot me a TG.

Hey there sports fans!
It's that time of year, and the IBC-14 competition is coming up in Cassadaigua! Click here to book your tickets for every AllBlues game!

There is very little news as yet of who the AllBlues are likely to play, but we are eagerly awaiting the group draws on April 26th, beginning around noon local time (4pm here in Orennana).

Meanwhile, here's all the info you could ever hope to need regarding the team that's going over there to compete for our country:

Team Roster
(starters shown in italics)
#01 Leonard Bilsen
#24 Ashley James
#29 Carter Parish
#37 Will Ellison
#45 Lester Goodwin
#58 Finn Marshall

#64 Ken Shapiro
#78 Sam Mollone
#82 Clyde Blackburn

#92 Stuart Wright
#97 Gabriel Kimball

Head Coach: Domhnall Higgins

RP Permissions:
Choose my scorers: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes
Godmod Injuries: Yes (be realistic)
Godmod scoring events: Yes (be realistic)
Give out technical Fouls to my players: Yes
Eject/Foul Out my players: Yes
Godmod other events: Anything that would really happen in a basketball match is OK. If it's pretty unlikely or would never happen, TG first.
Style Mod: +1

And here's some breaking news: the AllBlues' new kit is out! We all know they only play in blue (it's why they're called the AllBlues, right?) so of course there's no "home" and "away" kits, but them's the breaks, eh?

Well, we here at AllBluesBasketball.ore hope all of you are as excited about this tournament as we are! We'll be back very soon with more information, analysis and predictions from Orennana's leading basketball experts. Check back soon!

After national success in NSCAA 6 McKleigh ahs gathered enough support to field a national team and compete in IBC 14. 5 seniors from NSCAA 6 are on the roster in Silva, D. Bruce, McMann as well as stars MacGradden and Donjijiti from William and Stephen and Austri Polytech. Some underclassmen have also forfeited future collegiate eligibility and joined. They are McCkleigh City favorite S. Bruce and teammate Seamus Kennedy and Olde Dullahan's B. Malikilosalusa. To complete the roster some players from McKleigh's less known days in the sport have stepped up.
Leonard O'Shane from McKleigh City and 3 from Olde Dullahan in Baugh, McFadden, and the older of the Malikilosalusa brothers, Wasilito. While there are two Bruces on the roster they are not related. However Scott Bruce is the nephew of the manager of the national soccer team, William Bruce.

No images of uniforms yet. But home is yellow top and short with black lettering and red highlights, away is black top and short with yellow lettering and red highlights.
