Harestrian teams prepare for the IOUFF Champions Cup

Postby Harestria » Fri Apr 29, 2022 2:11 pm

In order to prepare the Harestrian teams participating in the iOUFF Champions Cup, the Harestrian Football Federation has organized a new competition with the league and cup champions as well as two invited foreign clubs.

Image

Four teams will fight for the super cup, Betusta-Sipo (League Champion), CCDE (Cup Champion), Al Fateh (Cherqstan) and Vergne Foot (Aix les Filles).

The format is simple, first two single-leg semi-finals will be played to determine the teams that fight for the championship, while the losing teams will play in the match for third and fourth place.

All matches will be played at the Harestria National Stadium located in the country's capital, Villanosotros.

The first match will be Betusta-Sipo vs Al Fateh, the other semifinal will be played by CCDE and Vergne Foot

SEMIFINALS

Image

The opening match of the tournament was a rather boring game, possession was dominated at all times by Betusta-Sipo who also had the best chances, however, Al Fateh was going to score after taking a good free kick near the line midfield just before the end of the first half.

In the Second, Betusta-Sipo would try everything to bring down Al Fateh's defense, obtaining little success, since they only had a couple of clear chances coming from two corners.

Weak opening game that Al Fateh won thanks to its strong defense

The second game, unlike the first, would be much more entertaining, the CCDE was going to propose a style of play based on counterattacks, however Vergne's good passing game was going to frustrate all the plans of the local team at minute 10' of match, with this adverse result the local team was going to take the initiative of the match and this is how they would get the tie minutes before the end of the first half, reaching the break with a 1-1 on the scoreboard.

As the second half began, the CCDE tried to take the initiative and score the second goal, but the minutes passed and the Vergne defense could not pass despite the good chances. that both teams had very clear chances, Vergne managed to get ahead after a great long shot, minute 80' and the game was 1-2 in favor of the visitors, from this the CCDE went for it all and managed to avoid with a corner goal eliminated the team in minute 88', sending the game to extra time.

The extra time was completely dominated by the CCDE who had the best chances, however they would be unable to break down the good visiting defense and the match would go to a penalty shootout.

It was a very well-taken penalty shoot-out, the only mistake being that of the player who took the fourth penalty for Vergne who hit the post, allowing CCDE to advance to the final.

MATCH FOR THIRD AND FOURTH PLACE

Image

The match began between the losers, the match that defined the third and fourth place in the tournament, Betusta-Sipo began managing possession following a similar script to the previous match where they lost to Al Fateh, however Vergne was not going to defend as much like the Cherqstan team and also sought to create their chances, achieving it in the 23rd minute thanks to a great touch play that ended up being a clear penalty in favor of the visiting team that ended up inside the goal, 0-1 in favor of Vergne .

A disastrous first half ended for Betusta-Sipo in which the visitors had had most of the clear scoring chances, and deserved to win by one or two more goals, for the second half Betusta-Sipo made several tactical changes with the intention of winning the game, these changes washed the image of the team and it was Betusta-Sipo who dominated until minute 63' when they got the tie, after the goal, however, doubts returned to the red and black club and Vergne had two very clear occasions just before the end of regulation time.

Vergne was playing its second extra time in a short time and that was noticeable in the fatigue of its players, with the team very close to its own goal, Vergne was lucky to come out of overtime alive, highlighting the excellent performance of its goalkeeper who took many clear chances.

Luck fell in favor of Betusta-Sipo on penalties, winning the shootout 3-2 against a combative Vergne who again had bad luck shooting from 11 metres.

FINAL

Image

The grand final of the Super Cup was played on a pleasant afternoon at the Harestria National Stadium, the atmosphere in the stands was spectacular, selling around 30,000 tickets, including the presence of a notable number of fans from the visiting team.

The game was very entertaining at first with some dangerous chances for both clubs, however, the CCDE soon showed their dominance and scored very often in minutes 23' and 28' to finally finish the game before the break with a good goal in minute 39', the first half ended with a resounding 3-0 in favor of the locals.

In the second half, Al Fateh would do everything on their part to turn the result around, without much success since a great defense by the CCDE would prevent any real chance of danger, frustration would end up invading the minds of the visiting players and at the end of the game a horrible tackle was going to start a small fight between players of the two teams, the player who made the tackle, as well as a player from Al Fateh were sent off shortly before the end of the match. Al Fateh would convert a goal in 90+2' that would not prevent CCDE from finishing as SUPERCUP CHAMPION.

ANALYSIS OF THE HARESTRIAN TEAMS

The competition was very different for the two teams, while Betusta-Sipo was shown to be a team with a very ineffective possession game, the direct football of the CCDE turned out to be efficient at all times.

Cup of Champions - Before the Tournament

Postby New Narsia » Fri Apr 29, 2022 3:57 pm

Cup of Champions - Before the Tournament
The IOUFF Cup of Champions is right around the corner. After a season with surprises at every turn, two teams will be heading to the Cup. Northfield, winner of the league and consistent top finisher, and Phenix United, who have came out of nowhere to win not only second place in the league, but also the Brewster Cup, qualifying them for their first Cup of Champions. Phenix United has been a team that has surprised many in recent years, only playing their first A-League game in 2020. The two teams faced off in a match against each other for the Winners' Trophy, with Northfield winning 5 - 3, but they have also prepared in other ways. Here is how both teams have gotten here and are preparing for the tournament.

Northfield
Since their unbeaten season in 2019, Northfield have been considered guaranteed to qualify to the Cup of Champions, and this season is no different. Finishing at the top of the A-League once again, a strong and high-scoring side filled with national team stars looks promising to go far in this tournament. Training out of the national team-shared Avon Sports Complex in Southern Newbern, the team are confident for this cup. Northfield played friendlies against all the teams that have finished in the top 5, being the already metioned Phenix United, Brightwater FC, Brantley FC, and Auburn City. This is how the games turned out, minus the already mentioned game between Northfield and Phenix:
Brightwater FC 4 - 3 Northfield
Brantley FC 2 - 1 Northfield
Northfield 3 - 0 Auburn City

The results were unexpected for many Northfield fans. A bitter Brightwater FC team, that are missing out on their first Cup of Champions that the nation competed in, managed to narrowly beat the Newbern side, with Right-Winger Stefan Koloski scoring in the 89th minute to win the game for Brightwater.

A youthful Brantley FC side were able to win against Northfield as well, with Striker Leonardo Castelli scoring 2 goals for the team, also from Newbern.

The only team that Northfield were able to win a game against were the aging side of Auburn City. The team, once a powerful top 3 side, was barely able to get 5th in the most recent season. Unlike Brightwater and Brantley, who scored plenty of goals, Auburn City was unable to score a single goal. Northfield decisively won 3 - 0 and brought back some hope from fans going into the Cup of Champions.

Despite a world-class front 4, Northfield's defence has been said to be not as well put together. This is likely why Northfield lost 2 of their 4 games against teams that were well below them in the league table. Exceptions are the acclaimed goalkeeper Jayden Davis and national team captain Aaron Brown. Nontheless, Northfield is a promising team in the cup.

Phenix United
Phenix United is one of the biggest underdog success stories in recent New Narsian football memory. The team, formerly known as Phenix SC, was founded out of a budget pizza shop in the Phenix city centre in 2006. Phenix United did not have a proper stadium to play in until 2015, finally constructing the small Riverside Park. The side was one of the 20 that were picked to be a part of the first season of the B-League in 2019, then known as Division 2. The team's manager since then, former midfielder Paul Banks, is practically a saint in the eyes of Phenix football fans. The club soon rocketed up into the top half of the A-League, and came second this season, also winning the Brewster Cup. Phenix narrowly beat out decorated side Brightwater FC for the second spot. The future looks bright for the young club.

The friendly results for Phenix United are:
Brightwater FC 2 - 1 Phenix United
Phenix United 1 - 0 Brantley FC
Phenix United 2 - 0 Auburn City

Brightwater FC, despite finishing behind the two teams, were able to win both of their games. Phenix were able to put up a fight against the side, but weren't able to get a draw after an unlucky miss from Attacking Midfielder Kade Mathis.

Phenix United were able to win against Brantley FC, however. Only one goal was scored, a penalty that was successfully taken by striker Johnny Toure.

Their final match, against Auburn City, resulted in a 2 - 0 win for Phenix. Goals were scored by both strikers, Johnny Toure and Joseph Romero. The game was memorable for an incredible save by Phenix goalkeeper Branden Blanchard, saving a top corner shot by Auburn City player Jonathan Gray.

Phenix United's squad is a collage of players that have been with them for their whole, albeit short, professional life, and players they have bought recently, often on free transfers due to a low amount of money for an A-League side. Despite the team not being as polished as Northfield, and having to train at the same place they always do, Phenix United is a surprisingly solid side. Solid enough to beat former league champions Brightwater FC in the league. Although Northfield is the obvious favourite out of the two teams, Phenix United's low expectations give them an interesting edge over their counterparts down south. Phenix United are a team to watch going into the cup.

We have seen the teams perform well on the national stage. It is now time to see how they will perform on the international stage against the best teams from the Island of Union. The tournament has many well established teams that are famously hard to beat, however time will tell how Northfield and Phenix United will play against these clubs and many more from the region.

The supporters of both Salon Olympique and Fc Mirabeau where very happy with the performance of the respective clubs, FC Mirabeau became first in their group, played against Empire automotive FC , AFC Light, AFC Geminy, won four games, drew one and lost one game, a stellar performance by the Boys in red..

Image

Salon Olympique ended up second place and qualified, it felt like the experienced players had to carry the team at times, while the talented youngsters like Javi Santos and Jordan Ito are brilliant at times, sometimes they aren't as reliable as the Experienced players Like Romain Faré, Prince Karim and Mohamed Hwash, but it looks like Manager of Salon, Gerard Cottilion has it well figured out as Salon progresses.

Not their Season.
IOUFF Cup of Champions 4 Winners FC Roman failed to make it out of the group stage, we of the Gazette expected FC Roman to do well yet again, but they won only two matches, against Al Ain SC and west Mountain Union FC, we are sure they will be back next season.

Flawless
The Red Eagle SC, high quality performance against top teams in Group three has shocked many, winning all their matches, CCDE who impressed in the pre-tournament didn't make it out of the group phase. All eyes are on the Red Eagle now as they are now the favorites to win the IOU COC once again

EMPIRE AUTOMOTIVE FC

Empire fans weren't sure what to expect coming in to the group stage following a poor performance in the NFF Pre-season trophy. most fans agreed that they would like to perform well at least.

It got to off to an interesting start drawing Fc Mirabeau in there first game 0-0. Result: Fc Mirabeau 0 - 0 Empire Automotive FC.

The second game Vs AFC geminy and also the first game at home ended in a drab 1-0 win. Result: Empire Automotive FC 1 - 0 AFC Geminy. Attendance: 29,758

The third game against A.F.C. Light didnt go so well for Empire with light running away 3-0 winners in front of a Raucous home crowd. Result: A.F.C. Light 3 - 0 Empire Automotive FC. Attendance: 48,920

The fourth game was a bonkers 3-2 draw against Fc Mirabeau with 2 goals late in injury time to make 2-2 and 3-2 and a hat trick from striker Nate Kuroa who scored all of empires goals. Result: Empire Automotive FC 3 - 2 Fc Mirabeau. Attendance 29,982

The fourth game was a home game Vs domestic rivals A.F.C. Light where empire got revenge for their loss against light earlier in the group stage with a 3-0 win.
Result: Empire Automotive FC 3 - 0 A.F.C. Light. Attendance: 30,000+

The last game was against AFC geminy and it was a pretty straight forward affair with empire winning 4-1 for the second win a a row. Result: AFC Geminy 1 - 4 Empire Automotive FC.

Fans of empire said they were worried that after the first three games empire would continue this run of form but they are delighted and amazed at how the team have turned it around in the last three matches and look forward to facing whatever comes mext

The West Mountain Union FC managed to rise after it was facing difficulties, in the last round, had it not been for FC Roman’s defeat in the last round, West Mountain Union would not have reached the quarter-finals.

Red Eagle SC reached the quarter-finals with an exceptional performance, as it did not lose any match and won all its six matches. The team hopes to be able to reach the final and achieve the dream that was delayed more than a season.

After his absence from the first round, the player, Mustafa Ghraib will return to the quarter-finals. It is reported that the player suffers from a serious injury that caused him not to participate in matches this season.

HISTORICAL!

Good performance in the participation of the Harestrian clubs in the IOUFF Champions Cup, Betusta-Sipo managed to pass without great trouble in group B of the Championship, the army club, however, had a poor performance, especially in the attack, despite them, got a meritorious third place in the group. Also noteworthy was the passage of Lértolas Galder in the second continental competition, the IOUFF Cup, where they came first in the group and fell in the semifinals.

Image

Excited! This is how we could describe the general feeling of the fans of Betusta-Sipo, a team that in the preseason gave bad sensations in the Harestrian Super Cup, however, the team knew how to recover and stood out in the group stage with 5 wins and only one defeat, also being the team that has scored the most goals in the cup, the future is hopeful for the Betusta team, Pablo Iglesias, the team's coach, said the following: ''We have finally managed to find our identity as a team, our performance in the Super Cup and in the first game against West Mountain Union we didn't know how to behave like the team we are, the team that won the league alone last year, certain changes had to be made, but we finally found the key, and we chained 5 wins in a row in this Cup, we have achieved in our first participation a meritorious performance in the Cup, from now on we have to dream and everything that has to come will come''

Image

Poor performance by the CCDE in the IOUFF Champions Cup, the team that was very solid at the back was unable to score, achieving it only in 2 games, the first performance of the team in the competition cannot be considered as bad, since the team fought all matches and got good points against teams that on paper may be better and with more experience in international matches, however, the impeccable performance of Betusta-Sipo passing as first with enough ease, makes the taste of this cup for the CCDE is quite bitter, the fans are now waiting for the league, if the CCDE does not win the league and Betusta-Sipo does, despite obtaining the Super Cup, there may be a debacle in the internal environment of the CCDE, let us remember that the last 4 leagues have fallen at the hands of the red and black club.

Image

For its part, the team from the island, Lértolas Galder, has also achieved a great performance in the IOUFF Cup, winning group B to finally fall in the semifinals and then in the match for third and fourth place, the sensation in the club It's good and coach Marcos Aguirretxe hopes to have a good performance in the league to qualify for the tournament again and matbe give a good surprise in the cup.

Scenes of joy in Salon, after the second quarter final match came to it's conclusion, Salon had won both matches, be it hard fought victories against Harestria's very respectable CD Betusta-Sipo.

Lucas Hiver scored the only goal in the away match, the return in Salon was a nail biter, in the 42nd minute Hugo Fraile scored the first goal a lovely header in the far corner finishing off Frank's great cross, jusf before half time, the second goal came three minutes later Hugo Fraile noticed that Noah Gentile was far away from his goal, Hugo scored with an unexpected shot surprising Noah Gentile 0 - 2 at half time.

Gerard Cottilion had his hands full trying to boost the morale of the players, it worked as they came out of the break refreshed and pumped up, in the 60th minute Jordan Ito scored from a penalty as he was fouled in the box, Dean Fonda dribbled in the box and before he could dribble further he was pushed off the ball, in front of Lucas Hiver who scored with a simple shot, in the 92nd minute Frank fouled Lucas Hiver in the box and received a yellow card, Jordan Ito scored from the spot.

The City of Salon cebrated their quarter final victory.

EMPIRE GIVES AN VALIANT STAND

Empire Automotive FC knew that the chances of victory were slim after being drawn against Red eagle sc who had won all their group games and scored 14 goals and only conceded 3. but they gave it there all over the two legs.

FIRST LEG:
Arbea stadium

Red eagle had managed to turn arbea stadium into a fortress only conceding 1 goal in the group stage. Red eagle played very well in the first half scoring 2 goals to the delight of the red eagle fans including an amazing strike from a distance by Evan Friberg. Empire started the second half by pushing to get a goal. They almost managed to pull one back after a curling shot from Nate Kuroa in the 56th minute. red eagle got the third goal after some clever tiki-taka play had Evan Friberg in the 6-yard box where he dinked it over the keeper. the last goal came in the 94th minute after a corner deflected in off Carlo Mezzi.
FINAL SCORE: Red eagle SC 4 - 0 Empire Automotive FC

the empire players will go into the second leg knowing that they are very unlikely to win but will give their all for the fans! said nate kuroa in a post-game interview

the empire players went into the second leg knowing that they were out of the tie. but wanted to give the fans something to cheer about.
knowing that they have already one the tie they gave some young players some game time. from the start, empire was attacking and had a goal disallowed in the 11th minute for offside. the empire fans came out in their tens of thousands with a couple thousand fans managing to get into the ground without tickets resulting in a higher attendance than the capacity of the stadium. empire held their line in the second half with the game starting to slow down until Carlo mezzi scored a rocket of a goal in the 78th minute to the joy of the home crowd. that was the only goal of the game as empire lost 4-1 on aggregate but managed to give red eagle their first defeat of this IOUFF Cup of champions.
FINAL RESULT: Empire Automotive FC 1 - 0 Red eagle SC [aggregate 4-1 to red eagle]
ATTENDANCE: 34,529
fans were asked afterward if they were happy with the result and the campaign as a whole most of them said yes and that they were extremely proud of their team for beating red eagle. one fan we asked said that he had lost a bet to his mates were he said if empire beat red eagle he would go to the first game of next season in his pj's to the laughter of everyone around us.

BETUSTA-SIPO DIES FIGHTING

Betusta-Sipo was eliminated against Salon Olympique in an even tie that was decided by small details, a great tournament for the Harestrian team.

Image

Betusta-Sipo 0-1 Salon Olympique
The first match of the tie was marked by the events that occurred outside the stadium, local fans tried to attack the displaced fans of the Salon Olympique who were heading to the stadium, the good police performance prevented any Aix les Filles fan from being injured, four people They have been arrested and are already at the disposal of the police.

The match was a boring match without too many chances, which was won by the Salon Olympique with a good goal by Lucas Hiver in the 32nd minute.

Salon Olympique 3-2 Betusta-Sipo
This was the cruelest game that Betusta-Sipo has played in a long time, after wasting a 0-2 half-time lead, everything seemed to be going for Betusta-Sipo, the team came out extremely nervous in the second half, and that noticed with some ugly kicks and some fighting attempts, the goal from the Salon Olympique was seen coming and it came, a stupid penalty and a goal for the locals, after that came the second from the Salon and the team turned to attack, only to receive a goal more in stoppage time.
