Welcome to Anditia!

We would like to welcome you and your athletes to the northern country of Anditia. Originally founded long ago as independent nations, the Commonwealth of Anditia grew together through the bonds of shared cultural background and the fear of invasion of other nations just past their mountainous borders. Currently a forward-thinking scientific community that prides itself on the education of its youth, Anditia is enjoying a time of peace and prosperity.

The AFSII will take place over four days of competition pitting some of the best swimmers against eachother in a state of the art swimming complex: the Anditon National Natatorium at Orodun. The Anditon National Natatorium will provide athletes with unique opportunities to train and compete in a state of the art complex with four major pools - the 10 lane 50m competition pool, an 8-lane 50m warmup pool, an 8-lane 25m warmup pool and the diving pool (with 10m, 7m, 5m platforms and 2 springboards each at 3m and 1m). A coastal city with modern amenities, Orodun serves as the commercial hub of Anditia. Despite its business like nature, cultural and sporting events also speckle the metropolitan area. Known for its eclectic mix of modern and art-deco architecture, the neighborhood surrounding the Natatorium (commonly referred to as SoWeSpA -- Southwest Sporting Area) will provide unique opportunities for the visiting athletes, delegates and fans to experience the exciting life of the Orodunish in SoWeSpA with plenty of social and cultural amenities.

Sincerely,
Javra Harboi
President of the Anditon Federation of Swimming.

AFS Here We Come

Around 20 athletes from Rarungan (10 Males and 10 Females) will compete in AFS International Invitation held by Anditia in the nice city of Orodun. It is the first time Rarungani swimmer compete in an international championship. Male Swimming Coach, Feri Agusti stated that it is a great opportunities to see how far our swimmer could compete in international stage. It is also a great place to see how tight the competition are.

Both Female and Male Swimming Coach not giving any of their athletes goal limit. They just need to give their best performance and make Rarungan proud of them. And the fact that it is their first international championship, it will be a great test for them and also a great experience for every swimmer.

What kind of sports?
I love kittens!
98% of all Internet users would cry if Facebook broke down. If you are part of that 2% who simply would sit back and laugh, copy and paste this into your sig.
99.6% of this world's occupants would cry if Justin Bieber died, if you're one of the .4% who would just laugh and throw a party, copy and paste this in your signature.
.01% of the nations in Nationstates would cry if TBR died. If you are one of the 99.9% who would throw a party, put this in your signature.

Apologies if this may sound a bit brutal, but did you read the text in the first post? Also, if you won't bother, this is a swimming competition, in which you can sign up in the OOC thread. Lastly, check out the Guide to Sports Roleplaying at the top of the forum, for information.

There is much excitement in Schottia as their swimmers prepare for the AFS International. Many of the hopes fall on the shoulders of national hero Rebecca James. The 19 year old has been on dazzling form on the build up to the event. James along with Fellow swimmer Rosita Gulliver represent the nations best chance at success.

To The Pools!

That's right people! Darvale's request to enter the AFS International Invitational swimming competition has been accepted! 20 Darvalian athletes (10 males and 10 females) will represent their nation in The Anditon National Natatorium located in the beautiful, eccentric coastal city of Orodun, which is also the commercial hub of Anditia, the nation that will be hosting the competition. "Our participation in the AFS competition will boost popularity of the wonderful sport of swimming," said Martin Dunn, Chairman of the DSA (Darvale Swimming Association), "Me and my colleagues are extremely excited about our first ever international swimming competition and I'm sure that many other people feel the same way. I wish the best of luck to not only our team, but to all other athletes that will be participating in this event." We know that other nations participating include Estope, a member of the famous sporting region of Esportiva, Super-Llamaland, widely-respected for its many sporting achievements, Nyucia, a rather new nation that however, shouldn't be underestimated, Britonisea, Kannap, Rarungan, and, of course, Anditia, the competition hosts. The competition will start tomorrow (March 3) with 8 events on that day, including the 200 and the 400 m freestyle as well as the 200 m Individual Medley. The competition's second day (March 4) will see 12 events including the 100 m Freestyle, the 100 m Butterfly, the 100m Breaststroke, as well as the 400 m Free Relay. There will be a 1 day rest before the next 10 events start (March 6), 50, 200, as well as 400 m freestyles will be seen on that day. The final day of the competition (March 7) will see 12 events including the 100, 800, and 1500 m freestyle, the 100m Butterfly, the 100m Breaststroke, as well as the 100m Backstroke.

AFS excitement reaches fever pitch
14 athletes from 8 categories have been making final preparations today. What was so special about them? They are all representing Itanpavia.

To many, Itanpavia's best hope is Tyrone van der Ansen, the 1500m freestyler. He's really been picking up steam in regional training matches. Our best female hope is, to most, Andrea Schwartz. She'll be participating in the 100m backstroke.

From many of the athletes, there's an aura of national pride. For all of Itanpavia, they have to be in it to win it.

Extreme Excitement Nation-Wide!

Indeed! As Michael Marman, John Dubley, Amandine Jett, Lucie Abani, Gregory Hoffman, Luna Helwick, Ethan Traner, Valentine Linnsey and Andrew White make their final preparations for their respective events today, millions of Darvalian citizens have gathered all around cities, may it be in their home's living room sofas, a local bar, or even at national airports, just to show their support for the athletes who will be participating in the AFS International Invitational. Excited children will also be seen watching the events, because all schools have been shut down due to the fact that this would be the first time Darvalian athletes would be seen competing internationally with foreign athletes. Among the many Darvalian stars that will be present at the event, King George IV, Queen Catherine III, Prince David VII, Princess Delphine I, as well as a few other members of the royal family have arrived at the Orodun International Airport and are already making their way in a bulletproof limousine to the Anditon National Natatorium, where the sound of cheering and splashing will soon be heard echoing through the walls of this magnificent natatorium. The 9 Darvalian athletes that will be swimming today are currently visibly warming up in the 8-lane 50m warmup pool and the 8-lane 25m warmup pool located inside the facility. Fans from all of the nations participating in the event are taking their seats with boxes of popcorn, soda cans, and bags of chips in their hands, chatting with each other in somewhat hurried, and at the same time excited voices, excitement and contentment clear on their faces. Many of the Darvalian fans' eyes are focused on Luna Helwick, who, like all the other athletes, is warming up for her events. Helwick is, to the fans, arguably the best swimmer in the team, and they are all anxiously waiting for the women's 200m Individual Medley, the only event Helwick will be participating in today. You will be able to view Helwick as well as all of the other events of the AFSII live on international sport channels including DIS, DIN's sports-dedicated counterpart channel.

<transcript from theswimmingproject.com>

"Yeah, we don't have a lot of time left, so let's head off to the exotic country of Ann-DEE-taaaa!"

"That's right, the Llamaneans are facing off against eleven other nations, so this is not your average swim meet. Let's run through everybody here."

"Jeff Martinez swam for silver at the Llama Meet, and it appears that he's at it again, winning seventh and advancing to the final at the 200 free! Tom Jensen of Itanpavia currently has the lead and will compete with Estope's Chris Pierpont and Nick Gaskin later."

"Meanwhile, Meghan Taylor, the twenty-year-old prodigy, took fourth and will go for the gold after missing out on first place by seven-hundredths of a second! A very close race between Taylor, Widodo of Rarungan, the host's Janna Jones, and Christina Abbot of Itanpavia will determine the 200 free champ."

"Allan Smith has not done well at the 200 IM, finishing in dead-last by a whole second! Smith's future is in limbo and at 28, he's not getting any older. Smith will look to redeem himself at next year's Llama Meet, which he did not finish top-five at this year for anything but his bronze-winning 200 IM."

"At the Women's 200 IM, Brianna Anderson had better luck, finishing fourth to advance. Grace Britt of Kannap is the favorite, but Estope and Darvale have swimmers in contention as well."

"Men's fifty free! The 25-year-old Jeff Martinez finished fifth with a nice 21.59, breaking his personal gold-winning record of 21.64 in 2010 by a bit. Rarungan owns this event, but Anditia will compete with Martinez as well."

"On to the women! Once again, it was Brianna Anderson in seventh. Anditia, Darvale, and Rarungan are consistently dominating the meet, but the Llamas are not doing too badly."

"At the 400 free, Lewis Lewis was not doing well well, placing nearly dead-last with a time of three minutes, forty-something seconds. Lewis was sixth at the age of 29 at the Llama Open last time around, and I think his career ends soon."

"Women's 400 free, it was again Brianna Anderson going 4:15 to get fifth."

"The Llamas did not put in the strongest showing today. To prove the world that we're a swimming power, we'll need to really improve tomorrow."

First Day Results

And here we are everybody! We're here for a recap of the AFSII events that happened recently. "I am extremely pleased with the performance of our athletes," said team coach Ryan Denko, "in my opinion, they did exceptionally well for their first ever international competition". The King George IV also expressed happiness to the result of the game in a quick interview, stating "I am extremely proud of Darvale's swimmers' performances today". Michael Marman managed to advance to the next stage of the Mens 200 Freestyle, finishing just under 3 seconds after Itanpavian winner Tom Jensen, putting him in the 6th place. John Dubley, however, did not experience the same luck, finishing 14th. In the Womens 200 Freestyle, Darvale did not experience the same luck though, Amandine Jett and Lucie Abani just falling short of the top 8, finishing in the 9th and 10th places respectively. In the Mens 200 Individual Medley, Gregory Hoffman managed to scrap a 7th place, a not too-well-altogether result but it will still allow him to pass to the next round. In the Womens 200 Individual Medley, Darvalian star swimmer Luna Helwick managed to achieve the second highest result Darvale had today, finishing 3rd in the race. In the Mens 50 Free, Michael Marman was in trouble, starting very badly but still managed to pass Anditia's James Schaff and A Non-descript Puppet Nation's H.M.S Splashaboat, then finishing at the same time as A Non-descript Puppet Nation's Deathbringer the Trained Piranha. By the time the Womens 50 Free had finished however, thousands of cheers and cries of joy erupted like a thousand volcanoes from the Darvalian supporters. Amandine Jett had managed to come back from her earlier failure in the Womens 200 Freestyle to finish second in the race, finishing only 1 millisecond after Kannap's winner Grace Britt, which also meant that she had achieved Darvale's best results so far in the AFSII. Valentine Linnsey, however, tied at 7th place with Super-Llamaland's Anderson, putting her in a altogether quite dangerous position. In the Mens 400 Free, John Dubley also came back from his earlier failure in the Mens 200 Freestyle to finish 4th in the race, however, Andrew White, Darvale's other swimmer in the race, finished dead last. In the Womens 400 Free, Valentine Linnsey managed to finish in 3rd place, which is not too bad, considering the fact that there were 6 swimmers in the race. You will be able to have a recap of the next events later on tomorrow.

Schottia's only swimmer competing in the first days action was 19 year old Rebecca James, who made it through to the final qualifying in 8th place in the 200 free. The New Islander was pleased to make it through in, what is not her strongest event, however her qualifying position will mean she starts in one of the outside lanes for the final. 'I think I have an outside chance of a meddle' said the 19 year old. 'I know I can swim faster than I did in the heats, and, well, you know, anything can happen.

Successful first day in Anditia!
The first day of competition in Anditia is complete - and we aren't doing half bad! We entered both the 200m Mens' and Womens' Freestyle - and one athlete is in both finals. Tom Jensen stormed the 200m Mens' Freestyle, coming home a convincing first. As you can imagine, the boys in the box got quite excited!

Extract from channel i1 yesterday
John Amsterdamer: Jensen is leading with one length to go! He's gonna do it!
Frankie Johansson: Here we go! Come on Tommy, don't fail us now!
JA: Jensen is 5 seconds away!
FJ: He's gonna make it!
Both: *Unintelligible screaming*

As well as this, Christina Abbott cruised into a joint second place in the 200m Womens' Freestyle. Come on Itanpavia, don't fail us now!

Schedule B Preliminaries
Once again: To ease reporting, and a bit of a reminder, these are preliminary results. Finals will be determined between the top 8 finishers. The next 8 (9-16th place) will still compete in the B heat, but will not be able to advance to medal contention. This delimination is marked with a ---.

Schottic swimmers enjoyed another good day in the pool with: Donald Ramm, Gary Thompson, Rosita Gulivier, Brad Trott and Rachel Carter all joining Rebecca James in the finals.
James herself also progressed to the final of her strongest event the 100 free with a strong finish in third. Star of the day however was 25 year old Rachel Carter who swam an excellent race to finish first in the 800 free.
Speaking to SBC News earlier Carter said:
'It has been the accumulation of a lot of hard work. The facilities we have to work with now are far better than they were when I was starting out. That's pools, coaches, equipment; all that helps to give you the edge'.

Second Day Results

And welcome ladies and gentlemen! We're here for a brief recap of last night's AFSII events. Darvale's performances in last night's races were extremely mixed, achieving amazing as well as mediocre results. In the 100 Free Men, Dubley and Traner finished 17th and 20th (dead last) positions, much to the disappointment of Darvalian fans. In the 100 Free Women, Luna Helwick wasn't able to qualify for the next round, finishing in the 10th place, but Helena Velane managed to clinch a 5th place, which will allow her to proceed to the next round. In the 100 Butterfly Men, William Cott finished dead last, but, this embarrassment was eclipsed by the joy and contentment of the Darvalian fans. Michael Marman had tied in first-place with Bryher's Kniley, thus scoring the highest score Darvale has achieved so far in the AFSII. In the 100 Butterfly Women, Pansy Lenington finished dead last, again to the disappointment of the Darvalian fans, but Velane was able to clinch another 5th place. In the 100 Back Men, Ethan Traner managed to finish in an impressive 3rd place, however Robin Gunner finished second-to-last (13th place). In the 100 Back Women, Zoe Colton and Nicole Vance managed to qualify, finishing in an impressive 3rd place and a dangerous 8th place respectively. In the 100 Breast Men, Olly Ramsey managed to tie at 5th place with Bryher's Chris Tacker, however, Evan Jaxon tied at 8th place with hosts Anditia's Urd Rafferty, which will result in a swim-off with the winner proceeding to the finals. In the 100 Breast Women, Leona Rigg and Eva Prince both managed to qualify, finishing in a fantastic second place and a 5th place respectively. In the 1500 Free Men, Reg Attan just managed to qualify, finishing in the 8th place. And, finally, in the 800 Free Women, Roxanne Jawner managed to finish in a wonderful 2nd place, just behind Schottia's Rachel Carter. You will be able to have a recap of the next events later on the day after tomorrow.

*** Due to an oversight on my part, I forgot to enter the Iptavian entrants in the Schedule B events. To remedy this situation, all swimmers will compete along side final competitions and ranked accordingly.
This means that if (for example) Ais Remor recieves the equivilant of 8th overall, he will be given that place and all others will shift down (8->9, 9-> 10 etc).
The following swimmers will be added:
100 Free Men
Ais Remor 72
Jonathan Ackermann 43

100m Freestyle (Women)
Fionna Barth 71
Rhii Bertha 50

1500m Freestyle (Male)
Tyrone van der Ansen 91

800m Freestyle (Female)
Daniella Hirsch 87

100m Backstroke (Male)
Adrian Keller 93
Matthias Keller (no relation) 52

100m Backstroke (Female)
Andrea Schwartz, ITN, 95
Amelia laCoubelle, ITN, 34

This will mean that the 100 Free Men and 100 Free Women will be scored out of 18 swimmers (rather than 16) all others will still be scored (for overall standing) out of 16 swimmers (even if less than that exist in the event...)

I am sorry for any confusion that this may cause.
