AOCAF Cup 43 - Everything Thread

Postby Kinitaria » Sat Feb 08, 2014 5:11 pm

The multiverse's greatest regional tournament is coming to Kinitaria for the first time! This is the official thread for AOCAF 43, in which Atlantian Oceania's finest footballers will descend on Kinitaria to compete for the regional title. This thread is the place for your rosters and RPs, whether they be short but sweet or novel-length epics. The tournament is open for business, so feel free to begin posting.

This thread is for Atlantian Oceania nations only, and I would request that you don't post here unless you're in AO or if a mod needs to post here while doing their duties.

Draw procedure

Before the draw, the 32 competing nations were divided into four pots of eight. As hosts, Kinitaria were assigned to Pot 1, as were Vilita & Turori, as holders. Pot 1 was completed by the six highest-ranking teams left in the remaining 30. Pot 2 consisted of the next eight teams by rank, and Pot 3 contained the eight after that. Pot 4 contained the bottom two ranked teams, plus six unranked nations.

Pot 1: Kinitaria (host), Vilita & Turori (holders), Farfadillis, Valanora, Audioslavia, Starblaydia, Osarius, Legalese.
Pot 2: The Inevitable Syndicate, 95X, Thatius, Maklohi Vai, Ko-oren, Blouman Empire, Ibex, West Guiana.
Pot 3: New Gordonopia, Nellietopia, Lymryk Isles, Naitpyge, Kericia, Furellum, New Cloudsdale, Preiva.
Pot 4: Perlasilangan, Kjeligsted, Schiavonia, Florgania, Greater Watford, Weimania, Bonticello, Saint Anne and Jacob.

The groups

One team from each pot was drawn into each group. The order of the teams within each group was then randomised, with the exception of hosts Kinitaria, who were automatically placed into the first spot in group A. The tournament will follow the simple procedure that we all know and love, in which the top two teams from each of the eight groups will advance to a knockout stage.

Without further ado, the group draw:

(16) Kinitaria
(37) New Cloudsdale
(15) Maklohi Vai
(UR) Greater Watford

(8) Osarius
(21) West Guiana
(26) Naitpyge

Visitors' Guide to the Socialist Federal Republic of Kinitaria

Welcome, one and all, to Kinitaria, for the 43rd edition of the AOCAF Cup! We trust that you will enjoy your stay.

Kinitaria is an island nation located somewhere in Atlantian Oceania. We used to say that it was located in the far south of the region, but then someone discovered vast new landmasses just to the south of us. How on earth do you miss something like that, anyway? It was no more than a few dozen miles from our coastline. As a result, we just say we're "somewhere in AO" these days.

Okay, things that travellers might need to know. First and foremost, Kinitaria is a constitutionally socialist state, presided over by General Irin Kucinič, who has been Premier of the Supreme People's Council since he ascended to power about twenty months ago. On no account should you make any comment that could be perceived as critical to Premier Kucinič or the ruling Kinitar Socialist Party. While it's hard to know exactly what goes on inside the secretive state, Kinitar natives have been arrested for doing exactly that. It is very unlikely that the Kinitar government would treat foreign nationals with any more leniency, and this applies to players and officials as well as travelling fans.

Kinitaria is a human country. The population of Kinitaria has been exclusively human for some 3,000 years. As such, the Kinitar people have become extremely accustomed to just having humans around the place. While incidents of open hostility to those of a different species are extremely rare, the fact remains that if you have eight legs, or pointy ears, or are a sentient pony, or simply happen to be suspiciously non-human in a public place, you'll attract a variety of strange looks. Non-human visitors are advised not to invite confrontation, as locals will almost certainly not be automatically hostile.

The image you're getting of Kinitaria should not be one of a backwards, bigoted dictatorship. Kinitar society has been socially liberal and permissive for a long time, and any locals you speak to are likely to be friendly and tolerant, whether you're human or not. The Kinitar people are known for their hospitality, and will be sure to use this opportunity to show it off to the world. Note that the Kinitar people are, while not necessarily fervently nationalistic, a proud race, and insulting their homeland is not likely to be received warmly. At the same time, the people are easily approachable and will almost certainly be happy to help out any visitors.

There is a modern infrastructure system to make sure you get where you need to be. Kinitaria has three major international airports, in Mi'ato, Litora and Tirinthea, and an extensive road and rail network covering almost the entire country, with a few exceptions in the mountainous north near Paleu. Many destinations, including the capital of Mi'ato, can also be reached by sea.

Kinitaria is a land of fantastic natural beauty, from the vast mountains in the north around Paleu and Rexitova, to the immense sprawling cities of Mi'ato and Serenberg, and the quiet and serene area around Inovita and Damaciu. As an island nation, there are also miles and miles of exotic coastline and some of the region's finest beaches. The tourism industry is undergoing rapid growth, and chances are, Kinitaria has something to offer you when you're not otherwise occupied by football.

Yes, apparently there's some sort of football event happening in Kinitaria. Kinitar fans are known to be passionate about their football. Some would call such passion excessive, especially after the chaotic scenes against Mytannion during World Cup qualifying, but it's all part of the game. Flares, pyro and tifo displays are an integral part of the game in Kinitaria, but so is trouble after (or even during) the matches. Chances are, if visiting fans are looking to create trouble, they'll be able to do so.

Speaking of which, there are 16 fine host venues ready to serve up a feast of football to the region, and here they are...

Host stadiums:
Central Stadium (Kinitaria national team), 76,000
This impressive arena was purpose-built for the national team as a symbol of their drive to compete at the highest level, and it's certainly a wonder to behold from both the inside and outside. A video scoreboard hangs from the large double-arch design above the stadium, which dominates the skyline of the surrounding capital. Packed with all range of modern facilities and amenities for fans, players and reporters, the Federation can only be justified in describing it as one of the best stadiums in the region. Naturally, it will host the final.

Stadion "Lumar Beqiri", KF Mi'ato, 67,250
Only the third largest stadium in the Kinitar capital, but it's still a magnificent arena. The distinctive bowl-shaped design has seen the most successful team in Kinitar history compete within it, and following a recent redevelopment, has also been fully modernised, possibly even to a better extent than the Central Stadium. The design of the stadium gives it fantastic acoustics, and it can be one of the loudest stadiums around when the noise really gets going.

Stadion Orašii, Civita Mi'ato, 69,000
The arches stretching out over this stadium date back some 70 years, and are a well-known landmark of the east side of the capital. It hasn't had a significant restoration, and as such is not as modern in appearance or facilities as the capital's other two stadiums, but that's taking nothing away from the history and passion which stands behind this fantastic arena. The steep banks of the stadium serve to create a wall of sound which will be intimidating for any team to play into.

Host stadiums:
Stadion Munisipaliya, Obiša Litora, 47,500
Despite its home team's lack of success, this is one of the most famous stadiums in the country. It's a historic stadium, full of character, and is the only AOCAF host stadium to still contain terracing (along one side only, in the bottom tier of the north tribune). Fans wanting a sanitised corporate experience should look elsewhere, but those who want to experience true passion have found the right place. The compact nature of the stadium means that it's easy to create a ferocious atmosphere.

Stadion Viteanii Revolusii, 1. Maja, 62,000
The fall of tenants 1. Maja means that this stadium has barely been half-full for B-League matches, which is unfortunate, because this place really gets rocking when it's full. Completed ten years ago, the sheer size of this stadium makes it one of the most imposing in the league, especially when packed full of fans and turned into a wall of colour. It also boasts a wide range of modern amenities, making it a pleasure for any team to play in.

Host stadium:
Parc Semnal, Atletika Avnani, 41,200
It's a fine old stadium with plenty of character, but that's just about all it's got going for it. There were some attempts at renovating it, and they've had things like video scoreboards put in, but most supporters agree that they probably shouldn't have bothered in the first place. It's a great stadium for those who have romantic notions of how football used to be, but anyone seeking the kind of facilities you get at the very top level is going to come away from this stadium disappointed.

Host stadium:
Stadion Nasiyonala, Chyri, 53,810
The province of Chyr, long isolated from the rest of Kinitaria, has been agitating for its independence for some time. As such, it can be a dangerous venue to visit, and the Kinitar government have long since disavowed responsibility for acts carried out by Chyri nationalists. Assuming things stay calm on that front, the stadium, decked out in Chyr's national colours, is a fantastic venue in which to play football, and also has room for further expansion in the future.

Host stadium:
Arena Damacii, AFC Damaciu, 38,370
The bottom tier is built into the ground and sits below ground level. Fortunately, Kinitaria doesn't have earthquakes. This unique construction, combined with the proximity of the stands to the pitch, gives the stadium a deafening effect when full. The arched roof that looms over the upper tier only serves to add to this effect, as well as standing out against the backdrop of the city, and thereby making this stadium a central landmark within Damaciu.

Host stadium:
Stadion Proletare, Unione de Fule, 41,520
It's not hard to see why this impressive, newly-rebuilt arena was chosen as a host site for the AOCAF Cup. It's actually the second incarnation of the Stadion Proletare, the old stadium having been demolished and rebuilt in record time after Fule had outgrown their beginnings. Many fans were sad to see the old stadium go, but there's no stopping progress, and those same fans are delighted with their new-look stadium, sure to be a fantastic venue for football for many years to come.

Host stadium:
Parc Četatii, KF Inovita, 47,200
This vivid stadium features Kinitaria's largest and steepest main stand, an intimidating sight when full. It's a mixture of the old and new, with two older end stands behind each goal, and two much more modern looking side stands. The West Stand, opposite the main grandstand, mirrors the "spion kop" appearance but is not quite so high. It might be worth having a bite to eat while you're here, as the food in the Četatii was voted the best anywhere in the Kinitar Premier Division last season.

Host stadium:
Ter Komunada, Kasmenai Irisa, 30,000
Kasmenai started to redevelop their ageing stadium, but ran out of money before the project was completed, and so had to terminate it halfway through. The result is this baffling hybrid of modern and historic. Architecture aside, Kasmenai fans are well-known in the Kinitar leagues for making a lot of noise, and that could well be helped by the compact nature of their stadium. The fans are almost at pitch level, which certainly helps them to make themselves heard.

Host stadium:
Stadion "Irin Kucinič", KF Lorceagu, 49,000
This grand stadium was built in the small town of Lorceag, birthplace of Premier Kucinič, as a springboard to propel a Kinitar team into the upper reaches of the NS Premier League. After the collapse of this competition, the stadium has just sort of continued to exist. It has been deemed suitable to host AOCAF Cup matches, and therefore will do so, although fans should note that the town of Lorceag is a grim mining town, the stadium was not built with international fans in mind, and they're not going to find any amazing resorts around here.

Host stadium:
Stadion "Dinamo", Dinamo Paleu, 47,000
The unorthodox, sloping design of this stadium gives it a unique appearance, despite being derided by critics as somewhat pointless. It's a modern, purpose-built stadium with plenty of character, designed for the formation of the Premier Division. Whatever people might say about soulless modern football, the enclosed nature of this stadium is conductive to a fantastic sound. Dinamo are a team who've managed to get the balance of old and new just about right in this stadium.

Host stadium:
Arena "Spartak", Spartak Rexitova, 38,000
This stadium has stood in place for nearly a century, and has gone through frequent redesigns. It is unique in that each of the four stands has its own design, having been redeveloped at different times. As such, the quality of the facilities will largely depend on which stand your concourse is in. The short sides behind each goal are the oldest, and although they were renovated to modern standards, this was about thirty years ago, so the definition of "modern" may be a subjective one.

Host stadium:
Stadion Republikana, KF Serenberg, 49,830
At one point, this stadium just had one tier on it. Serenberg obtained planning permission to extend the stadium to approximately 50,000, but were only granted it for two stands, as the rest of the stadium faces onto a listed building. They decided to press on with the rebuilding anyway, the result of which is this impressively lop-sided design, often described as looking like two stadiums have been cut in half and stuck together. At the very highest level, you're about a quarter of a mile from the field of play.

Host stadium:
Stadion Universitii, Universita Tirinthea, 40,000
Despite the name, Tirinthea are not a collegiate team. They're a fully professional side playing in the Kinitar Premier Division, and have the name as a result of their foundation as an academic side over a hundred years ago. Their instantly recognisable stadium has been nicknamed "the spider" by locals owing to its unique structural design, which was added in a recent expansion, necessitated by Tirinthea's growth into a competitive top-tier team.

As for who's playing where, that can all be found here...

The Inevitable Syndicate Presents...
The Inevitable Syndicate National Football Team
For The AOCAF Cup 43

World Cup 67 was something that would rather be left at the back of Lewis Thackeray's mind. After scraping into the Round of 16 by a hairs breadth, in a game against Audioslavia that had the world theorising dodgy deals and back alley chats, the national team fell out of the race to the cup at the hands of Vilita, in a 4-3 match in Brattleboro that was sure to go down in history for both the Vilitans and the Syndicatians. Many journalists the region over cited the Dagan half of the cup as a "mini AOCAF", with a strong majority of the teams in that half hailing from Atlantian Oceania. A year later, and the team is here for real, and with a spate of retirements and walkouts, the team looks to be a hybrid of the old guard and the new generation. With Thackeray himself under the watchful eyes of the IFA, it looks as if the country will settle for nothing less than victory here in Kinitaria. Otherwise, it'll be his head on the line...

Audioslavia is an ancient nation that celebrated the 11th anniversary of its OOC inception on December 17th 2013. The nation originally CTE'd in 2006, was revived briefly in 2007 and 2009, and enjoyed a proper resurgence at the start of 2012, locating itself in Atlantian Oceania indefinitely after IC centuries of rivalries with various nations in the region.

The Audioslavia national side participated in World Cups 4 to 29, made an abortive comeback in World Cup 37, and rejoined the world of international football properly back in World Cup 59. The ancient Audioslavia side qualified for all but one of the World Cups it entered (a young Audioslavia failed during the WC5 qualifying playoffs) and generally maintained a place in top twenty of the world rankings, peaking at #1 during the qualifying phases of World Cups 20 and 21.

Paradoxically, the national team has seen more success in its modern form - a period where quick success is much more difficult to achieve than in the early days. Whereas those early years yielded only the inaugural U21 World Cup and a string of losing finals in the World Cup proper, the modern team won the Baptism of Fire tournament before WC59 and triumphed in the thirty-fifth, thirty-eighth and thirty-ninth installments of the AOCAF Cup. The side have also reached the final of the AOCAF cup on three other occasions, and have reached as far as the semi-finals of the Cup of Harmony.

Modern Audioslavia finally won the World Cup itself in cycle 63, a victory that required a huge amount of luck and some very po-faced, negative football. Audioslavia managed to win the tournament despite going into the qualifiers with a ranking of #53 in the world. Four years later, in World Cup 64, the national side proved that this win, as fortunate as it was, was no flash in the pan when they again took home the World Cup trophy, completing the first ever 'double-double' of winning back-to-back AOCAF and World Cup championships.

Ten Things Audioslavia's football team are famous for:
1: The claret and green striped kits, complete with white pinstripe. They have been like this, with the odd exception, since World Cup 4.
2: Jeremy Jaffacake. The indescribable Jaffacake has been a satellite of the national team - both as sports journalist and member of the FFA - since World Cup 6. It is unwise to cross Jeremy Jaffacake. In fact, it's often unwise to even look at him. Jaffacake is arguably the most infamous character in the entirety of sports RPing. He's certainly the oldest.
3:Choking in major finals. Audioslavia were the record holders for losing the most amount of World Cup finals without a victory, having failed in WCs 12, 19, 20 and 29. The recent defeat in the WC67 final to Polar Islandstates.
4:Being almost unbeatable in semi-finals. Audioslavia's senior side have a scarily good record in the last four of any competition. Their record in major semi-finals currently stands at 13-2. The side suffered their maiden World Cup semi-final defeat in World Cup 66, ending a streak of six winning last-four appearances.
5: Off pitch entertainment: A fervent, yet well-behaved support. Audioslavia's fans are generally friendly, enjoy mixing with the locals and are partial to the odd litre of whisky. Not to mention the tabloid antics of one Jeremy Jaffacake.
6: On-pitch anti-entertainment. The Audioslavian national team have always played effective, if uninspiring football. The side are usually solid, with a cautious approach play and a willingness to hold on to possession rather than attempt anything too rash.
7: Building rivalries: Audioslavia count, and have counted, a lot of nations as their 'rivals'. They are, in order of healthiest to most hated: Lemmitania, Karditan, The Inevitable Syndicate, Legalese, New Montreal States, Halfassedstates, Iansisle, Vilita/Turori, Bedistan, Starblaydia, Squornshelous, Rejistania, Total n Utter Insanity, Krytenia U19s, Krytenia U21s, Krytenia 'C'. Krytenia 'B', Them.
8: Audioslavia have had, throughout their history, a disproportionate amount of wingers with names beginning with 'J'.
9: Audioslavia are the first and only team to have been eliminated from the group stage of a World Cup on penalties.
10: Audioslavia is home to Kirola Sportswear, the manufacturers of some of the more... avant garde football strip designs seen around the World Cup.

Audioslavian footballers tend to be a little on the small side compared to modern NS athletes. The average height for a goalkeeper is about 6'0, but centre-halves tend to top out at 5'11 and other outfielders rarely venture higher than 5'9. All of Audioslavia's players, throughout history, have been human and male. Our players tend to be fairly quick with a lot of stamina and physical fitness, and are proficient at short passing. In general, however, our small-ish team tends to struggle against physical teams. Our goals usually come near the end of games as our high stamina wins through. The national side frequently employ players of Audioslavian citizenship/parentage but who are naturalised elsewhere. Current goalkeeper Kajaxo Imaslavii and striker Vucidini Zekani were born in Vilita and play their football over there, and a significant chunk of the squad are taken from Starblaydi high-flyers Cedrus Soundgardia, a team based on Starblaydia's Cedrus Isle, a place with a high percentage of Audioslavian diaspora. Recently, the national side has used players born as far afield as Cafundeu, Taeshan, Turori and Krytenia. The amateur nature of Audioslavian football has traditionally meant that most of the NT squad - often all of it - play their football for overseas clubs, but the coming advent of the Audioslavian and Syndicatian Premier League (or 'Liga Batiob', to give it its sponsor's name) has enticed more home-grown talent to stay within Audioslavia's borders.

As for the current team, Arturo Hudson-Blake is the diminutive striker with some crisp finishing skills. In midfield, James Courier is the captain who's harrying midfield play helped Audioslavia to two World Cups, while Zerubeltzak is charged with creating openings for Huson-Blake and Vilitaslavian wunderkid Vucidni Zekani. In defence, full-backs Tal and Polsson are both very fond of getting forward and will be prone to getting caught out of position, while goalkeeper Imaslavii is a star in the Vilitan leagues, currently first choice keeper at the famous Jungle Strike F.C.

Roleplaying permissions: We frown on god-modding if there isn't a sense of humour behind it. Everything else is fine. If you'd like to injure a few players or dish out red cards for a particularly harsh game, go right ahead, go hog wild. Want to injure the entire team in a bus-crash? Fine, but make it good, or suffer the humiliation of having your limbs scattered hither and thither via a blast from my mighty ignore-cannon.

WHO: Tropicorp is a quasi-governmental corporation created to conduct Research, Development and Production activities primarily on behalf of the Tropics of Vilita.

WHY: Major corporations and media outlets are often mistrusted by the Vilitan public. Additionally, a desire to preserve and protect the 'natural beauty' of the Vilitan environment and health of the Vilitan population, particularly after the effects of the Radiation from the collapse of Sorthern Northland, forced many Vilitan production facilities to cease operations or search for a place to conduct their business on foreign soil.

Realizing that the departures of major corporations would not only have the potential to harm the Vilitan economy, but also leave the Tropics at a technological disadvantage should it have to start importing basic goods like paper and wood despite the plethora of trees in the Island Nation, the Vilitan government identified the opportunity to utilize a region of long-lost Vilitan lands on the primary Atlantian Oceania of Calania to re-locate and resume the industrial activities that no longer seemed welcome on the Vilitan mainland.

In addition to simplicities like wood and rubber, however, Tropicorp's location away from the mainland Vilitan population would also allow it to conduct Research and Development activities on new and potentially dangerous technologies - allowing the engineer's and scientists within the organization to take more risks with more land and resources to utilize without the fear of protests by or danger to the general population.

WHAT: Tropicorp has quickly become the leading supplier of Wood to the Tropics of Vilita, with much of the earlier wood production coming from the inital clearing of lands required to build the primary facilities to support research and development activities within Tropicorp. From there, Tropicorp's first development effort came in the world of high-performance racing Tyres. After developing their first high performance tyre, nicknamed the "Sifaka" - Tropicorp invested with Vilita & Turori Motorsports to create an entry in the NationStates Super Formula Championships. The investment would prove to be well placed. Tropicorp driver iBen Toralmintii would be crowned the series champion after winning the final race of the circuit and the Tropicorp Sifaka tyre was the top performing tyre on the season, quickly resulting in orders for the high-performance tyre from Auto-Racing teams from throughout the multiverse.

After their initial successes, Tropicorp is looking to continue its progress and emphasize its Research & Development capabilities by creating a regional center of excellence where Engineers & Scientists from throughout the Atlantian Oceania region could come together and have the freedom to work on new and innovative ideas, capabilities, inventions and products.

While its exclusivity agreement with the Tropics of Vilita remains, the regional center of excellence on Tropicorp grounds has already been approved by both Tropicorp and Vilitan officials.

The Patron, once the newcomer, was now an experienced member of the Tropicorp team. He now lived permanently on location in a mini purpose built town on the shore. The view was amazing, and the Patron knew he should be glad to have gotten his pick of location before the place expanded. Tropicorp was growing, and so were the number of employees.

In fact, the residents of the area were putting a petition together to actually register as a city - the proposed name: "Tropicoast". The Patron didn't care much either way if the area had a name like a city or if his mail was simply directed at Tropicorp - so long as he got it.

The company was growing and the patron was apart of some exciting developments. Not being a super-technical type, The Patron had gotten involved in planning and logistics, and there was a lot of construction taking place in the area. The Patron was currently working on a project to build a world-class sporting venue within the confines of Tropicorp. The project was put together when Tropicorp decided to put together a team for the Nationstates Premier League. Originally, the team was going to be comprised entirely of Tropicorp employees - the best employees from amongst the kick-around players that met every couple of days. Instead, however, Tropicorp officials decided to use some of the income earned from the profitable sale of high-performance tyres to attract world class footballing talent such as Astograth's Lander Estrougamou.

However, with the collapse of the Nationstates Premier League, and the arena nearly complete, the Patron was tasked with figuring out how to get effective use out of the facility - or find the most cost-effective stopping point in the construction.

Once realizing that, contractually, it would cost just as much to cancel the project as it would to complete it, the Patron decided to focus his efforts on determining how to best utilize the arena.

Thanks to the Patron's efforts, Tropicorp FC was admitted to the Association of clubs of Vilita & Turori; allowing the club to participate in the Vilitan Cup competition. Even still, however, unless Tropicorp FC would make it to the proper stage of the competition and play the big clubs, it would be unlikely that they would attract enough visitors to fill the stadium. Even harder still, would be the task of keeping foreign players who had signed up to play in the Nationstates Premier League to stay at the club - although the decent salaries offered by Tropicorp Managements would likely help that situation.

However, that day, the Patron felt he had solved it all. In fact, it was a story he had read about a similar project - the Eelandii project in Turori where they were creating a purpose-built center of sport, and apparently had some shady dealings leading to an unproven being invited to the Vilitan League, Declasse Division - and the uproar that was causing back on the mainland.

It presented the perfect opportunity for a growing organization like Tropicorp to step in and make a name for themselves on the mainland. Give Tropicorp a podium to communicate from and a way to keep their name out in front of the region. A way to attract new employees, new customers and, maybe, just maybe, another source of income - tourists.

Ko-orenite Roster
for AOCAF 43

Starters in bold:

1. Haki Asgard - GK (36) - A solid goalkeeper, experienced and a natural leader. Co-captain behind Sobek Dehenat.
12. Eren Dauragur - GK (29) - On the squad after Ko-oren B's good run in the Market Cup. He's not very far behind Enshadilsa.
23. Storm Enshadilsa - GK (27) - Biggest talent among Ko-orenite goalkeepers. Has had a great season in the V-league.

2. Svarlamn Norn - LWB (28) - Energetic leftback, has good passing and is always looking for an offensive break.
3. Sobek Dehenat - CB (36) - Captain and biggest personality on the team. Calm and collected, experienced leader of the defense.
4. Lodur Nidog - RWB (30) - Slow player, but excellent in keeping strikers away from the ball.
13. Katanmak Juliasterinthen - CB (23) - Biggest defending talent. Was given the starting position to see how it works out, and has taken the challenge well in AOCAF.
14. Fuujin Iwaki - CB (28) - Reliable CB, though he hardly does anything outside of defense. Poor passing.
20. Futushi Musashi - RB (31) - Can play on either wing, slightly unreliable defender who's in the best of his years.

7. Fin Fenner - RCM (32) - Central passing man on the team. Any attack is likely to start with one of his passes.
8. Susano Sanuki - LCM (30) - The most defensive of the five midfielders, sometimes acts as second central back next to the central defender.
6. Nalaikh Bagaurunir - DM (23) - Was on the U-21 squad in the Di Bradini Cup. Despite the poor results there, he was called for the team.
16. Roluswishandin Erlenajaur - DM (24) - Inexperienced and it shows, needs to play a lot more important matches before he can play in the NT.
15. Bjarswind Napertnau - CM (25) - The next Fin Fenner. Excellent passing, can even take free kicks well.
10. Palnatoki Idrasil - RWM (30) - Quick winger, unpredictable and good at crosses as well as dribbling.
5. Thor Alfar - LWM (26) - Can give good crosses, but is too slow to get in that position often. He is very strong though, and can hold the ball well.
17. Pta Talmis - AM (27) - Passing man behind the strikers. Knows exactly when to give a through pass, pass to the wings, or pass back.
18. Esolywend Eregrent - AM (23) - Attacking midfielder who is also just as good on either wing. Can even play central midfielder.
21. Holbuligen Bohanan - AM (27) - Best man of the Market Cup squads, leading them to 3 consecutive 2nd places. Can play anywhere on midfield.

19. Izasul Terathu - RS (28) - His speed, enthusiasm and acceleration is unrivaled in this team. His first cycle as starting striker, he replaces the old Shiribeshi.
9. Naemasu Tokachi - ST (30) - Second striker behind Terathu. Most assists are by him, but he can score too.
11. Koyane Shiribeshi - ST (33) - Has been the first striker for years. Still has '11', as no one dares to take it from him. Lost his fine touch, but is still a very good attacker.
22. Uilta Bonangorthen - LS (26) - Called because Ko-oren is short on good strikers. Was in the Ko-oren B team, and was quite good there.

The Greenblues are in for the fourth time, and they're doing a bit better every time. This time, they are from the second pot for the first time. Legalese will not exactly be a new AOCAF opponent: in AOCAF 42, the two were in the same group as well. At the time, Legalese won 5-0.

Scoring: Terathu-Tokachi-Fenner-Idrasil
Bookings: Norn-Sanuki-Nidog-Talmis
Left corner: Sanuki-Tokachi
Right corner: Tokachi-Alfar

For reasons that will become (hopefully) increasingly clear, the national football team will be unavailable for this tournament. Instead, a dozen or so members of the shadowy "Ravens", agents of the Lady who must not be named, have managed to end up in the tournament.

Due to the secretive nature of the Ravens, no names have been given, and it has been difficult to identify species in some instances.
Player Species
Goalkeeper Cow (fairly certain about this)
Left Back Feline
Left Centre Back (No idea, sorry...)
Right Centre Back Canine of some description
Right Back Reindeer (Can't hide those antlers)
Left Winger Feline
Centre Ursine (I'm guessing, going on size and shape)
Right Winger Feline
Left Forward Feline
Centre Forward Equine
Right Forward Human (unless it's a monkey, of course)

Reserve Goalkeeper Ursine
Reserve Defender Equine
Reserve Midfielder Human
Reserve Forward Canine

All Players will wear black from head to toe, covering every inch of skin or fur. Robes and hoods are common amongst the Ravens, although each player will have a slightly different take on things.

Do anything but kill them, please. Feel free to go crazy.

Fyodor Iosef eyed the magic circle worryingly. "Are you sure this is going to work?" The old wizard who was lighting the candles fixed the captain of Furellum's football team with a sharp look. "Of course it's going to work. We're not amateurs you know, done this hundreds of times. Never lost anyone. Well, once. Ok, twice...maybe a dozen times."
Fyodor sighed. Kinitaria was not that far away, and he would have preferred to take the boat. But the FFA wanted to show off, so here he was with the rest of the team, about to be whisked off to Kintaria via magic. The wizards were right about this type of transportation, but the wizards had decided to send the entire team in one go. That sort of mass transportation required a massive amount of power and was a lot more difficult.

The head wizard set up the large focusing crystal to one side of the circle. "All right, that's about right. Got the co-ordinates?" Another wizard ran up and handed him a map. "Hmmm, a little outdated, but it's less than a century. Should be fine." Addressing the team, the head wizard spoke in a loud voice, "Attention everyone please, this is your wizard speaking. Please keep your hands, feet and tails inside the circle at all times, and ensure you have all your belongings with you. In case of an emergency there is absolutely nothing you can do, so I wouldn't worry about it." With these cheerful words, he signalled the rest of the wizards to begin the spell. The walls of the circle began to glow, brighter and brighter. The smoke from the candles began to pour into the circle in a thick dazzling mist that filled the centre of the ring. There was a blinding flash, indicating the team had disappeared from the circle. This was normal, but this time there was something different. A tinkling, cracking noise. Just as the head wizard was trying to figure out where it came from, he was knocked down as the giant focusing crystal exploded beside him.

There was complete silence in the room for sometime. Then finally, the head wizard stood carefully up, brushing shards of crystal off his robes. "Bugger," he said, "don't tell me we've broken time and space again."

10= Lena Kochanska*, 104
10= Leandro Perheira, 104

Starblaydi All-time Scorers:

5. Lubii*, 55

7. Soronúmë, 49
8. Nicole Maitland-Banks*, 47

10= Diamontii Di Bradini*, 44

Demonym: Starblaydi

FB. Frederico Blassii, Manager, 49
77 Caps, 1 Goal (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A former Right Back for Cedrus Soundgardia and the national team, Freddie's father was the Vice-President of the SFA before being involved in some dodgy match-fixing scandals. Under his tenure, ably assisted by Kochanska, Starblaydia have risen to 12th in the world and 6th in the regional rankings of the powerhouse of Atlantian Oceania.

LK. Lena Kochanska*, Assistant Manager, 45
104 Caps, 61 Goals (9 Caps, 5 Goals at Under-21 level)
Starblaydia's leading all-time goalscorer, recently retired, was thrust straight into Starblaydia's sink-or-swim Under-21 setup. Since then she's reached the Quarter and Semi-Finals by revitalising Starblaydia's youth set-up and mindset.

1. Lucas Cable, GK, 34 - Jhanna United
72 Caps, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Lucas Cable has an ability to just know where the ball is going to go. Some pundits point to reaction times, others to positioning and reading of the game, and others just to incredibly good luck. Very rarely is he sent the wrong way or unsighted and fooled by the flight of a ball, so much that seeing him concede makes you wonder what went wrong. Named the best goalkeeper of World Cup 67, and claimed to be the Best in the World. His occasional struggles with niggling injuries are his only negative point.

12. Kris Miller, GK, 31 - Hecia
2 Caps, 0 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Unfortunately for Miller, Cable is just that much better than this 31 year old. Captain of the Nemyan Hecia side, Miller is a highly capable keeper, professional enough to know that when his time comes, he must take it with both hands.

19. Omar Musandan, GK, 26 - Jhanna City
2 Caps, 0 goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Sitting on the bench for two straight Di Bradini Cups and seeing Starblaydia ship 23 goals in 6 matches is the driving force behind Musandan's international career: never again. In DBC29 he kept two clean sheets on the way to the Quarter-Finals, and is a master shot-stopper with a growing reputation for saving penalties.

2. Giselle Isom*, RB, 26 - FC Farça
14 Caps, 0 Goals (8 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
This girl really knows how to play, possessing an amazing touch that works equally well when stealing the ball off the shoelaces of an attacker, or passing anywhere up to sixty yards around the pitch. Whether close up and tricky one-twos or crossfield balls that could hit a postage stamp, Isom's control of the ball is simply excellent.

3. Erik Hoffman, LB, 30 - Iskara Daii
19 Caps, 0 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Late in his career, Hoffman has made the left full-back spot his own. His composed performances for the Daii certainly have been replicated during his appearances for the national team. He hits a good free kick, too, curling in from out wide on the right.

20. Thomas Wilson, CB, 25 - Beverington Hawks
5 Caps, 0 Goals (8 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A former Under-21 Cpatain, Wilson has a good all-round defensive game built around power and pace. He's replaced Zambrano in the line-up and is even under the microscope of several V-League clubs. Looks set to bethe bedrock of the Starblaydi defence for the next few Cups.

6. Xavier Nunez, CB, 28 - Corinthian Spirits
24 Caps Caps, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Nunez has a rather physical style at Centre Back, but it has worked well in the past. Nunez is the likely name to be winning the ball in the air, or putting his body on the line to block a shot. Not afraid of a shirt pull or cheeky elbow, either, he's the first one to stand up for his teammates in a physical confrontation.

13. Oin Hatrazarn^, C/RB, 27 - Karak Ungor Chiefs
8 Caps, 0 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
This Dwarf is not your typical Centre Back build, Hatrazarn does at least have a great leap for those high balls. Like most Dwarves he's solid as a rock in defence, but it's his vision and playmaking from that back that really makes his game stand out.

14. David Morton, RB/RWB, 32 - Nidola United
26 Caps, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Still Nidola's favourite son, Morton's voracious attacking play down the wings often brings great results. Through age and a more restrained national team set-up he has to be a little more forward-minded for his country.

20. Gerhard Beraht, C/LB, 24 - Hallad Reavers
Uncapped (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A tall and rangy left-footed defender, still seemingly unable to have his club managers decide if he's better at Centre Back or Left Back. Perhaps a few appearances at this AOCAF will help his coaches decide.

4. Lorenzo Jinalii, DM, 26 - Appleoosa HC (Equestrian States)
23 Caps, 1 Goal (11 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
Plucked straight from the Under-21s and groomed as the successor to Kylee Constantini, Jinalii immediately made the Defensive Midfield position his own with a string of outstanding performances at the DBC, AOCAF and World Cup. He's obviously a tough and athletic young man but instead of breaking up play with a sledgehammer, he does it with a scalpel. A great range of passing means that defence is often quickly turned into attack when he challenges his opponents.

7. Nigel Harrington, Captain, R/CM, 31 - Foxchester Raiders
21 Caps, 8 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Good old Harrington, who's performances for Foxchester are as solid as his side-parting and moustache, he's the personification of the spiffing Britannican gentleman playing for Lord-Protector and country. Always running for 90 minutes, always unflappable in the face of the opposition, always with a keen eye for a pass, shot or set piece, Harrington is the type of player you can rely on in any situation. With Khurnos out injured for this tournament, Harrington comes in to take both the right midfield slot and the captain's armband. Great, patriotic stuff.

8. Raul Garcia, AM, 32 - FC Farça
29 Caps, 6 Goals (4 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 level)
Every kid wants to grow up to play like Garcia. For Farça he plays with a smile on his face and a free range of passing that can make a mockery of even the best defenders. Full of tricks when needed and not afraid of a crunching tackle, his trademark shrug-and-smile has become a Starblaydi footballing meme. If something outrageous has just happened on the pitch, expect him to be at the heart of it.

11. Ffion McAllister*, A/LM, 24 - Montepool Waves
25 Caps, 8 Goals (6 Caps, 1 Goals at Under-21 level)
McAllilster has found almost immediate fame and success in her short career. She uses her speed to continually pop up and score goals - she singlehandedly gave the entire Farfadillis team the scare in AOCAF 42, bringing Starblaydia from 3-0 down to 3-2 with minutes to go in their Second Round defeat. Having announced herself as a seventeen year old with a brace against Åsløtten-Bëðerbørg så Česky in a 5-2 World Cup Qualifying win, and top-scoring for Starblaydia at the last AOCAF, McAllister is well on her way to fuflfilling her destiny.

15. Benjamin Koenig, CB/DM, 19 - Foxchester Raiders
Uncapped (8 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
Although his elder sister Inga was earmarked as the main talent at the Raiders, Ben is the one with the first call-up to the national team. His versatility as a Centre Back or Defensive Midfielder is his real strength.

16. Christophe Rivera, LM, 20 - Internashionale
Uncapped (1 Cap, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
He's young and fast, able to go past defenders in a flash and with an eye for goal, just perhaps not the best decision maker in terms of when to shoot and when to pass. If he can lose his youthful over-exuberance, he can mature into a great player.

21. Tristan Marrones, L/DM, 18 - Avenida Leal (Farfadillis)
48 Caps, 6 Goals (8 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
This young Starblaydi descendant of Starblaydia's first female captain, Betanii Marrones, is known for his athleticism and range of passing across the park as a highly useful utility player.

22. Alex Wong, AM, 29 - Penningworth United
1 Cap, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
When the Pennies need a goal, they look to Alex Wong. Either as creator or finisher, Wong often provides the spark for his team's victory. When he goes missing, however, or is marked out of the game, he tends to be completely anonymous. Still, with the right midfield against the right opposition, he can boss an entire game as it revolves around him.
The Golden Girl
Assistant Manager and Record human Goalscorer Lena Kochanska

9. Jeremy Anselm, SC, 25 - Crystopolis City (Crystal Empire)

20 Caps, 8 Goals (8 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 level)
Top-scored for the Starblaydi team at the 29th Di Bradini Cup with 3 in 6 matches, Anselm has developed from the up and coming star to a real Starting XI player thanks to 4 goals in 12 appearances at World Cup 67. Although often used as a target man, he can also bring others into attacking play with ease thanks to his awareness and touch.

10. Khazdar Branmar^, SC/CF, 30 - Karak Ungor Chiefs
28 Caps, 11 Goals (7 Caps, 1 Goals at Under-21 level)
The 'big man' of the Chiefs, Branmar's all-action style sees him as a frenetic ball of energy on the pitch. Always chasing down, always tackling back and defending corners as much as attacking them. This Dwarf certainly has a temper and, if he's not involved in the game, tends to go hunting for the ball - sometimes with mixed results. Has one hell of a good shot, too.

17. Stephen Landsberg, SC, 22 - Lylat Starfox (Northern Sunrise Islands)
8 Caps, 3 Goal (12 Caps, 6 Goals at Under-21 level)
Moving from the perennially unfashionable Cubs, to the much more exciting-sounding Lylat Starfox, Landsberg proved he could get the job when required even as a teenager at the World Cup. He's a very dangerous substitute to bring on, as he has the goals within him to change any game

18. Kelly Wu*, SC, 19 - Afonse Battalion (Northern Sunrise Islands)
Uncapped (11 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 level)
The second of Starblaydia's young strikers to take a move to Northern Sunrise Islands, Wu is slight and speedy, with a low centre of gravity to turn opposition defenders and bring other players into the game. Perhaps needs to learn to put the ball in the back of the net rather than try and walk it in, though.

23. Abdullah bin Rashid, SC, 19 - Hernsworth Cubs
2 Caps, 0 Goals (8 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 level)
With three young and promising strikers on the bench this AOCAF, all of them know they need to make their mark now if they are to be in consideration for World Cup 68. Abdullah is no different, and this tall striker from the unfashionable Cubs side is looking to impress when - or if - he gets the chance.

Home And Away Kits
Kits created by:
Starblaydia's traditional and iconic all-white Home kit, and the all-purple Away kit with a touch of gold, both with five gold stars - representing their record-setting five World Championships - above the Starblaydi Football Association logo.

Home Away

Vamariiel Falavir (F) ~
Age: 1095
Falvir's contributions to Vanorian football and the rise of Ibini FC under her management have landed her the spot as the manager of the national team. She became the first Vyintanese to ever hold the office and to many is seen that anything is possible for anyone residing within the commonwealth. Tactically, she prefers a possessive game with probing from wingers and the midfielders, which suits the player strengths of Valanora, with a history of superb attacking midfielders. Her appointments brings a lot of excitement back to Vanorian football and could be a major cultural moment for the entire commonwealth.

Assistant Manager
Polennoion Mitheththor
Age: 1509
Polennoion is an odd choice to be Falavir's right hand man, considering that his squads have never done more than what is expected of them. Granted that being the manager of AC Valanari has never been an easy challenge for him, but there were other options with a better pedigree to choose from. One thing going for him is that Valanari sides have always been tough to break down and a hard team to beat, fighting for points till the last whistle. Perhaps this discipline and desire is what has won him the job over more qualified options.

Draugwë Nororon, Milona-Lpaka (Turori)
Age - 799
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 188 lbs
While not the long term replacement for Dart, Nororon provides a solid keeper in net. Big and confident in net, Nororon is pure shot blocker with a great command of his box.

2 Vanacauion Haelinde, Raynor City United
Age - 679
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 168 lbs
A versatile defender who is quick for his size and good with his feet. Can be an attacking threat not only on set piece situations but also deliver good through balls and crosses when he does venture forth.

3 Aearost Tinueme, Raynor City United
Age - 606
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 166 lbs
With the failures of the backline the past few editions, the new managerial staff decided that pairing Haelinde with his club teammate on the national team seemed the best idea. Tinueme unlike Haelinde is a stay at home centerback, looking to disrupt opponents play with a combination of pace, strength and solid positioning. He is a manger's dream of a centerback.

4 Berdhiion Narbrinsyr, Basin Plain (United Gordonopia)
Age - 811
Sex - M
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 162 lbs
Narbinsry is a bit of a hybrid defender, capable of playing on the wing or in the middle or even as a pinch midfielder if the time calls for it. Not particularly strong in the air, but an exceptional work rate and pace gets him the nod in the refashioned backline over his competitors.

21 Espy va Drake, Yuba United (Paripana)
Age: 745
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than four countries clubs, and finally returned him when he signed with United before last season. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Aintôrthea Durosa, Royal Rumiatzi (Astograth)
Age - 754
Sex - F
Height: 5"10"
Weight: 144 lbs
Durosa is one of those players that can play just about any position, as her skill set is vast and adequate in multiple areas. She has done exceptionally well in her CMSC seasons, nabbing goals and assists with regularity and continued with her transfer to the Cafundeu league. She translated that wealth of experiences into solid form and was named captain to her side in Astograth, with hope that this recognition raises her play for the national team. Her good knowledge of va Drake's typical playing patterns has made the two to be a devastating pair for the opposition to contain.

14 Laborious Hawk, Urbizania Wanderers (Astograth)
Age - 709
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day.

8 Rochenion Falaval, Club ESF
Age - 754
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 177 lbs
The achor at Club ESF for over a decade now, Falaval looks to succeed where Neltanta struggled. Not nearly the same attacking threat as Neltanta, Falaval is more of a creative holding midfielder. Not remarkedably quick, Falaval is better a keeping solid positioning.

7 Faeron Soldarian, Raynor City United
Age - 623
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

9 Allandren Fresco, Ibini FC
Age - 498
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 167 lbs
Fresco will once again have to learn to play off a new strike partner with Gwaval finally being given the opportunity. By now Fresco is a known commodity, strong in the air with a pretty decent shot, the vision to create when asked upon. With Gwaval playing a more poacher role, look for Fresco to link up the play or hold the possession in the attacking third more often.

10 Medtôrwen Gwaval, Club ESF ~
Age - 751
Sex - F
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 147 lbs
Gwaval is a speedy striker who has the uncanny ability to turn up at the right place at the right time. She is a real poacher of goals and despite sometimes disappearing for large portions of the match, can turn it on for a moment a brilliance that rescue results for her side.

13 GK Aediron Galadirdren - age 679 - Ibini FC (M)
20 GK Hothborn Ondovir - age 715 - Soldarian FC (M)
15 CB Revhil Lardireil - age 640 - Hondo FC (M)
16 CB Urúvcion Kinarthir - age 589 - Ibini FC (M) ~
17 CB Morlaithan Aldamiel - age 682 - Raynor City United (M)
22 AMC Innathwen Tathmin - age 839 - Club ESF (F)
23 DMC Belltherdon Cularin - age 704 - Milona-Lpaka (Turori) (M)
18 LW Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar - age 715 - Raynor City United (F)
5 LRW Tanna Norovathar - age 375 - Oyardo FC (Astograth) (F)
16 MC Merenwen Lúinwë - age 675 - Hondo FC (F)
11 ST Dûrdur Celetholtinu - age 692 - Char Sara FC (M)
19 ST Gonmucaethor Mithlithelen - age 650 - Ibini FC (M) ~

Captain: Laborious Hawk
Set Piece Taker: Laborious Hawk
Penalty Taker: Allandren Fresco
Right Corner: Espy va Drake
Left Corner: Espy va Drake

Haelinde Tinueme Narbrinsyr
va Drake Soldarian Falaval Durosa

Fresco Gwaval

Football Squad Selection of Nellietopia

Postby Nellietopia » Sun Feb 09, 2014 3:28 pm

So You Want to Know More About Footy in Nellietopia...

Well, that's a bloody mistake. Any exercise in understanding Nellies is an exercise in futility, much like emptying a bathtub of molasses with a spoon underwater. We've stopped trying to explain it years ago. But what you do need to understand are these:

(1) While there are many types of nellies, the most frequent (i.e. only) type of nellie found is the ubiquitous Purple-Stinging Nellie. These little critters are the conception of some crazed lunatic who spent his/her/its days inventing creatures with radically long stories filled to the brim with verbose descriptors like adverbs and adjectives (not to mention the odd plethora of parenthetical remarks). That crazed lunatic is now retired, but the conception that spawned the first purple-stinging nellie has given birth to a whole nation of nellies that very much dominates regional thought.

(2) The organization responsible for the defense of Nellietopia is known as the Armed Forces League of Allemenschen Critters (AFLAC). If you don't what that means, don't worry - we're still confused as well. The general jist is that the country that used to be the former territory of Nellietopia was once called Allemenschen, a poor country full of idiots (literally). Somewhere along the way, the defense of the country was subcontracted to a bunch of animals, hence AFLAC. The list of animals that makes up this armed force is only limited by the imagination allowed. Perhaps the most famous members are the Bovine Geese Corps, whose hatred of all things Sorthern Northland is quite renowned (even as the Snorths nuked themselves to oblivion). If you've been reading out latest (and greatest) in the Nellie anthology of xenobiological wonders, you'll also know there's someone new on the block.

(3) A typical match of footy in Nellietopia is simply chaos. There are eleven nellies with eight legs. There is that purple silk that the nellies will produce. There is the stinging. There is the biting. And there is the ball.

I mean, we could contrive some roster for you to survey and say "well, I think Jim-Bob deserves to score a hat trick today..." but we've evolved beyond the need to publish match reports. Does it mean that you're going to love every last bit of RP we write? Hell no. People hate it when we write, because it means ten-ninety-three words of superfluous drivel. Moreover, even if we were to contrive a roster of nellies, the reality is that Nellietopian society is becoming more and more hive-mind-like. Is it fair to say one part is above any other part or whole?

To prepare you with that inevitable reality, we've concocted a few "realistic" scenarios should your team face a team of Nellies...

(A) "The [TEAMNAME] was sent to hospital following the AOCAF match against Nellietopia, most players suffering from serious bites and stings inflicted by the opponents. The referee attempted to issue red cards to the violating players, but he/she/it was stung as well and sent to the hospital. Audioslavian officials are now quarantining the stadium and banning Nellietopia from sending any more nellies, threatening to nuke the country with a giant can of RAID..."

(B) "The [TEAMNAME] emerged victorious over the puny Nellies of Nellietopia. Audioslavian officials later issued apologies after the entire Nellietopian team was squashed under the feet of the [NATION] players. The nellies are still recovering from the hospital, although it is widely expected that the nellies will remain in critical condition for some time..."

(C) "I rolled special AOCAF XLII edition Nellie Scout Chance Cubes, and a badger mauled my niece!"

Well, there are other options. But that's for you to decide and for me to critique nonchalantly with a casual wag of my hyperbolic finger.

(4) More than likely, playing a bunch of nellies is going to be boring. I mean... they're nellies. You could spray a can of RAID and win. Or you could huff a can of RAID and die. Please don't die.

But instead of the match report, you could opt to partake in perhaps the greatest cultural legacy of the Nellies - an exclusive line of Nellie Scout brand merchandise! It started with the original - Nellie Scout Cookies, made with real scouts (not nellies...). Then we branched into other obscure (and long forgotten products). Recently, a new resurgence in the Nellie Scout brand has brought you a whole plethora of random shit that you don't need but you direly want (almost the same thing as needing, I suppose). Of course, you're welcome to buy Nellie Scout Chance Cubes - the chance cubes where anything can and will happen. Eventually, we'll catalogue all of those merchandise that the Nellie Scouts have produced, but for now, we'll suffice with cookies, chance cubes, frying pans, and cans of worms - mostly because they're the most amusing at the present, and quite frankly, we'll come up with something else that equally amusing later and forget about that as well.

(5) RP Permissions: you can do anything whatever you are willing to have done to yourself. Be mindful of the torrent of words that you may unleash upon yourself should your RP not satisfy the nellies, however (as a point of advice, buy lots of our Nellie Scout shit, and you'll be plenty fine).

BTW: we pledge to the hosts that the nellies won't do anything to defile the host venues that can't be cleaned up with a good amount of Nellie Scout Elbow Grease ®.

Schiavonia announce their squad for AOCAF43

To be honest, there are all kinds of interesting titbits that we could tell you about the Schiavonia squad. But, essentially, it is a list of names. Barring a few, who have other reasons for notoriety, which will be listed here. You can probably get more about the physical attributes and skills of the squad from the positions they play...

Schiavone football teams generally play in a 4-3-3 formation, but the different positions are not always referred to in normal terms. The goalkeeper (GK) and centre-backs (CB) are as normal, but the rest are not so clear cut.

The left-back (LB) and right-back (RB) are very important in attacking, and generally one attacks down the wing while the other one comes in and covers as a centre back.

Ball winner (MB) is a midfield position that does exactly what you think. They sit in midfield to protect the defence and win the ball back for the team.

A distributor (MD) is a player with very good passing skills, and can switch play or unlock a defence with one pass, but can keep it simple if the situation requires it.

The creator (MC) is a player who runs at defenders with the ball before either shooting or, more often, laying it off for someone else to have an effort on goal. They are good at attracting defenders and so making space for team mates.

The runner (FR) is a player who can run away from defenders and make chances for themselves with this advantage.

The strength (FS) is what most people would call the big man up front.

Finally, the finisher (FF) is a player who has an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time to stick the ball into the goal with an uncanny regularity.

So there you have it. A guide to the Schiavone style of playing football. Hope that was helpful.

So who are they? Well...

Kenny Sanderson VI (age 52)

Kenny is the last in the line of Kenny Sandersons, all of whom have either played for or coached Schiavonia, going back to their international debut at World Cup 26. Kenny's elderly father, Kenny Sanderson V was the catalyst behind Schiavonia's departure from international sport and is now the leader of the nation. Although he gets his grandson Benny to do a lot of the more energetic work for him.

1) Julio Howard (Male, Age 27, Monarchs)

Julio Howard is the great-grandson of Chris Howard, who played for a different one-cup non-RPing newbie in every World Cup between World Cups 38 and 48, representing no less than thirteen different nations in his extensive career. Julio is very much a Schiavonia boy, though.
2) Viliaka O'Connor (Male, Age 22, Yellow Stars)
Viliaka is half Vilitan and, as a result, ages noticeably slower than the rest of the squad.
3) Jonny Lewis (Male, Age 21, Monarchs)
Jonny is also representing Schiavonia in the Skeleton at the Winter Olympics. Mainly because he's tall and skinny and, thus, looks like one.

11) Kim Jones (Female, Age 24, Monarchs)
12) Vanessa Lyku (Female, Age 21, Yellow Stars)

Vanessa Lyku is the second generation offspring of a Schiavone and a Rejistanian, from when Schiavonia was roaming the world. Being from karelan blood means that Vanessa is a natural choice in defence.
13) Rebecca Sallad (Female, Age 18, Yellow Stars)
Rebecca was the outcome of a dalliance between a Schiavone and a Jerusalemite at World Cup 63.
14) Boris Winston (Male, Age 27, Monarchs)

15) Lenny Tilda (Male, Age 28, Yellow Stars)
17) Dylan Bell (Male, Age 30, Monarchs)

16) Oliver Berry (Male, Age 31, Monarchs)
18) John-Paul Jones (Male, Age 19, Monarchs)

John-Paul is part Audioslavian and is representing Schiavonia at Biathlon at the Arçon Winter Olympics. But that is only because Benny Sanderson believed that it was cycling and long-distance running.

21) Tony Cueto (Male, Age 28, Yellow Stars [Captain])

Tony is a member of the Cueto family who used to lead Schiavonia. This role is done alongside the Sandersons now.
24) Kerry Jones (Female, Age 20, Monarchs)
Kerry is also on the Winter Olympic roster for Biathlon.

22) Benny Sanderson (Male, Age 20, Monarchs [Vice-Captain])

Benny is the guy that gets stuff done for his grandfather, although he does seem to think he runs Schiavonia sometimes. To be fair, he's not too bad at it.
25) Emma Trevor (Female, Age 25, Yellow Stars)
Emma has Druidan ancestry.

23) Johnny Jones (Male, Age 20, Monarchs)

Johnny is not the brightest - seen when trying to find Garundia when on a boat moored there.
26) Nicolau de Perreira Tarmey (Male, 24, Yellow Stars)
Of Schiavone / Cafundelese descent. Many Schiavones were left in Cafundéu when their nation vanished during World Cup 37. Not all of them were found, but since the same thing happened to their new homeland, one family found Schiavonia again.

31) John Blige (Male, Age 18, Monarchs)
34) Alexa Leau (Female, Age 25, Yellow Stars)

32) Conrad Hogan (Male, Age 20, Monarchs)
35) Bjørn-Morten Tomasson (Male, Age 26, Yellow Stars)

Bjørn-Morten is part Vanorian, but from the human part of Valanora.

33) Charlotte Chester (Female, Age 21, Yellow Stars)
36) Aimee Bell (Female, Age 26, Monarchs)

The lower numbers tend to be first choice in each position, but if you're picking a team for me, don't be afraid to include a few who are not.

If you're wondering where Schiavonia has been since their previous appearances on the international scene... well, they've been floating around the NSverse on some sort of floating island, visiting countries all over the place for sixty years. As a result, members of Schiavonia's tiny population (currently 681) have a surprising mix of ethnic backgrounds.

But a recent chain of events have seen a desire for Schiavonia to return to international sports. When Schiavonia decided to return to the international football scene, they realised that the kits they had in storage were designed almost 150 years ago. So they got in touch with the lovely people at Barrengeka in Astograth, because trees are nice, so having one on the kit would look lovely, too.

Games in Schiavonia will take place on The Field, which has a capacity of around 6,000. There will be a main stand for 5,000 away fans, and the locals will stand around the edge of the pitch. Not that this part is relevant for tournaments where games are all at neutral venues in a host nation. But Kinitaria is one of the closest nations to Schiavonia, so pop over for a holiday, if you like. It's very nice!

What else can we tell you about Schiavonia? The people are very friendly (sometimes, too friendly for their own good.) They love a celebration. They live on a very small island with a pleasant climate. And they stem from a surprisingly range of ethnic backgrounds (helped by some of the friendliness and celebrations).

Right, all of that stuff on the form that needs dealing with. Schiavonia play with a +2 style modifier, and you can do what you like with regards to our matches. Although, if there's anything major going on, it'd be nice to consult the SFF's storyline department first. But really, though... Permissions? Where's the fun in them!?!

If the SFF think of anything else worth mentioning, you will be the first to know!

Back-To-Back AOCAF Champions

Head Coach: Nycflala Kater
The Descendant of former Vilitan star Jimmy Kater finally got the major silverware desired to validate his career in Vilitan Sport leading the Vilita & Turori Eel-Cat things to back-to-back AOCAF 41 & AOCAF 42 titles in a Player/Coach role. After many years of success as the starting goalkeeper at Strike FC and for the Vilitan National Team, disappointment at the international level left Kater searching for more. He left Strike in order to reduce his domestic fixture load and focus on International play. While the World Cup title continued to be elusive, Kater led the team from between the sticks in AOCAF 41 and continued in the role for AOCAF 42. For AOCAF 43, Kater is not expected to suit up, but likely will be ready if needed to throw on the kit at the last moment.

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team.

Zelkki Milake [ - Lonngeylin Coast - ]
GK ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 5 :: GOALS: ) :: [ N/R ]
An aspiring Astronaut, Zelkki Milake's sporting career took added importance when he signed for Eastal Lunar FC at the age of 16 and immediately became the clubs starting goalkeeper for the Season 41 Declasse Division campaign. Milake kept a series of clean sheets that kept Eastal Lunar in the top half of the table for the majority of the season and still mathematically in the hunt for promotion entering the final matchday. The 1-0 victory over Akisa Surta combined with a Turoki Isle draw propelled Eastal Lunar into the top two and ensured that the young Milake would be thrust into action against some of the top players in the world as a Stellar Division goalkeeper for V-League Season 42. It wasn't at Eastal Lunar that Milake would make a name for himself, however. The young Vilitan goalkeeper opened his International Career with four-consecutive clean sheet performances and earned a place as a reserve player on the World Cup 67 World XI team. The performances for the National Team would earn Milake a transfer to Lonngeylin Coast after Eastal Lunar's Season 42 relegation.

Sharif Deniibo [ - Turoki Tide (Vilita) - ]
GK ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS:0 ) :: [ N/R ]

Jirijii Januaa [ - Mliona-Lpaka (Turori) - ]
D LC ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 6 :: GOALS:0 ) :: [ 6.76 Average Rating ]

Descendant of Season 4 Turorian Player of the Season and National team legend Cuolia Tuirma, Klaillal will work with Restiaa Mumamba to become the future "All-Around" player for the Turori National Team. Playing in a unique role, Tuirma will be expected to fill the role of being able to play every game, in every position - even Goalkeeper, if there are no subs left. Tuirma will certainly be starting as a substitute during their debut campaign in World Cup 62 but may get the chance to start against weaker opposition. After being brought up through the academy system at Kionao, Tuirma signed a professional contract with Colonial Sile in Vilita for Season 35, winning silverware in the first match, the Tropical Trophy triumph over Strike. Tuirma's stay in Sile didn't last long, however, coaxed back to the luxury of Arcticala Inlet to help in their Champions-Cup qualifying campaign of Season 38.

F C ( AGE: 20 CAPS: 35 :: GOALS::SR: 18 ) :: [ N/R ]
After coming through the ranks in Kionao, Makakio's performances got the attention of the scouts at Strike FC who signed the young Turorian attacker for their Season 39 campaign.

Inamari Altariiz [ - Mliona-Lpaka - ]
F C ( AGE: 20 CAPS: 24 :: GOALS::SR: 5 ) :: [ N/R ]
Altariiz was instantly identified as a high-quality prospect at Mliona-Lpaka and was promoted to the senior squad at 16 years of age taking up a starting role in Mliona-Lpaka's Season 38 campaign. Altariiz was named Mliona-Lpaka's player of the season for 39 & 40 in addition to being named Turorian Player of the Season during Season 40 after leading MLiona-Lpaka to the Vilitan Cup title.

Kaivel Illatara [ - Lonngeylin Coast - ]

A graduate of the Crosaibi Academy, Illatara signed professionally with Marine Coast United during season 38. After a slow start, Illatara's Season 40 exploits earned him top honors with 16 goals in Marine Coast United's promotion campaign. The performances did not go unnoticed and Illatara was snapped up by Lonngeylin Coast as they contended for the Season 41 title. Was a member of Vilita & Turori's AOCAF 42 Championship side.

Kiliko Riazen [ - Kiiara-Torra - ]

Riazen was trained in Alikki-Corra but opted to stay in the Vilitan Declasse after Alikki-Corra earned an unexpected promotion to the top flight, signing with Kiiarana City. Riazen's Krytenian bloodline makes him a secret weapon in the Vilitan arsenal, sure to be the ultimate future thorn in the side of any Audioslavian opposition. Was a member of Vilita & Turori's AOCAF 42 Championship side. After scoring 5 times for Kiiarana during their Season 41 Declasse campaign, the youngster made the switch across town to Kiiara-Torra in order to re-unite with Eel-Cat things head coach Nycflala Kater and return to the Stellar Division.

Wobbly Clambanger - CF, #13 - (of Nhorton vo Mirrun (Paradystopia), Pteronurian)

and Manager: Peter Pasternick

Formation: 4-1-4-1
Style Modifier: +3.5

Stylistically, the Lymryk Isles have begun to play with a strategy known colloquially as the Tuna Sandwich. You'll notice that the human players play on the flanks with the pteronurians taking a more central role. In the centre of the field, the otters will maintain possession. Often making weaving and darting runs around one another. Due to their near incomprehensible communication system of squeaks and croaks, they can execute flawless dummy runs and fake passes to bamboozle even the most solid and tactically astute defences. This they intersperse with a more long-ball style of play on the wings with much switching and early counter-attacking crosses. When they find the correct mixture of the two, they can be a difficult team to pin down. Defensively, they are a little more cumbersome. The human half-backs will drop back into the centre to protect from crosses whilst the pteronurian centre-backs move out to challenge the ball. They can be particularly vulnerable during this transition of formation.

And yes, despite current changes in their squad, the manager in adamantly sticking to this strategy.

The human members of the team play as, well, humans. Using feet, head, etc. I don't need to explain this to you.

The pteronurian players play 'football' a little differently. Generally, a pteronurian player will use their head more than any other part of their body especially for dribbling and then their tail for more powerful passes and shots. Due to the nature of this style of play, helmets have been allocated to minimise injuries. The pteronurians wear no other kit as, as they put it, they are not as prudish as their human counterparts. They will probably never use their paws. Despite being capable of standing and walking bipedally, they rarely do and scamper around in a way akin to a ferret.

The Lymryk Isles play a quick, short passing game. Working their way towards the opponents goal with slow build-up play, occasionally interspersed with a long ball counter-attack. The pteronurians being surprisingly nippy on land when they choose to be. From corners or other such set-pieces, expect crosses at difficult heights for humans. As your defender (assuming they're human ... ) tries to decide whether to head the ball or get their leg up high, a springing pteronurian will have probably already bounded through and headed goal-ward.

Also, do not be alarmed should you find a semi-chewed fish outside your changing room, or find yourself being presented one. This is a gesture of friendship and goodwill amongst pteronurians. However, feel free to freak out should one of our human players exhibit this behaviour.

Feel free to TG me with any queries regarding the strange and wonderful inhabitants of the Lymryk Isles.

'Wake me up when the group stage ends.'

Perhaps this is the toughest group the Perlasilangani will have in their AOCAF history. With the same roster all over again, new coach Paolo Natural has decided to dramatically alter the lineup, which has been stagnant for the past two cycles.

Perhaps the biggest changes are in midfield, where only Gil Delgado remained as a starter; Manuel, Vito and Severino were dropped to the bench, thanks to their stagnation in midfield and no Barangayan clubs picking them up, except Severino... yet. Even a second division club didn't bother to sign them. The boring 4-4-2 formation was replaced by a 4-3-2-1 variation of a 4-3-3 where there were no midfield at the flanks - only fullbacks and wingers. The change also saw Inigo Jureidini lose his number 9 shirt, because of, well, his attitude, and other players vastly improving.

Their opponents this time? The Inevitable Syndicate, Furellum and Valanora. Three opponents that scream doom for the Perlasilangani. The first match would surely bring an utter and inevitable disaster to the national team. They will be lucky if they will escape with a draw or even a one goal loss. Next one will be a bunch of... some creatures with unknown identity, and not to mention the team have to change kits due to the black robes their opponent wears. We see it as another loss; well, this game could have the chance for the national team to make something out of nothing, just to turn it back to nothing later on. And the third match? Don't be surprised when we see six or seven goals go into the back of the Perlasilangani net. In short, another listless campaign for the Perlasilangani.

But hey, there will be positives in that change of formation by Natural. They have filed their entry into the multiversal stage when they enter the 55th Baptism of Fire tournament, and this will give Perlasilangan a chance to change their fortunes, from perennial whipping boys of Atlantian Oceania to a possible champion, which coincide with the strait at southwest of the nation.

But before that, a reiteration: 'Wake me up when the group stage ends.'

The involvement of Greater Watford players in both the FireStorm VI Cup and the Beltane Cup means that a reserve side is being sent to the AOCAF championships. However, the 18 man team will be hoping to make an impression, with World Cup 68 coming up.

Postby Farfadillis » Mon Feb 10, 2014 1:09 pm

Hector Rossizzo

Hector's been in charge since World Cup 62, and Farfadillis hasn't looked back since. When he took up the job, Farfadillis was a rather middling team that had just somewhat exploded and almost qualified for the World Cup. His first cycle was not a success - Farfadillis played poorly and finished well below expectations. However, he was accidentally not fired and continued for the AOCAF Cup. Farfadillis, who were playing at home, made it to the semifinals and got a third place. Due to that historic AOCAF Cup, he continued for another cycle. He not only got Farfadillis to the World Cup in that cycle, but he also got them to the quarterfinals... somehow! The following AOCAF Cup he'd achieve another third place, and he'd be left out of World Cup 64 due to an unexpected loss against East Shippensburg, in which some bad referee decisions changed the outcome of the match. He was then given an ultimatum: He'd have to get out of the AOCAF Cup group stage. He did not, but he once again was accidentally not fired. He continued another cycle and got Farfadillis to the World Cup once again, after a more-than-just-unbelievable play-off win against Sicoutimont, which included a last-minute Farf goal followed by a last-minute penalty save by Erfaon Lisdiren. In the World Cup itself, Farfadillis could not make it out of the group stage, but it was deemed a success regardless. However, it was not as big a success as World Cup 63, so he was given another ultimatum. He had to get at least a third place in the AOCAF Cup to be played in the Inevitable Syndicate. And he did, even defeating the then-World Cup champions in the third place play-off. He then got the team to another World Cup, albeit for the first time avoiding a play-off (it was believed this was just because play-offs were not a possibility to begin with). They made it to the round of sixteen, before being knocked out by the very same team they had defeated to get a third place the previous AOCAF Cup. The cycle was deemed a success, and so he was given no ultimatum. Ignoring the fact that he was under no pressure, he got Farfadillis to another third place. He managed to beat Starblaydia and thrash Valanora (though the latter lacked some of their best players) in the process, too. For World Cup 67, he got the team to another quarterfinal. As a Di Bradini Cup manager, he's been very sucessful, and has brought up some very good players like Kâí, Fôx and Terán.

Assistant Manager
Gonzalo Mordáz

Gonzalo's a rather average assistant, but he's been the assistant since World Cup 62, so why would anyone fire him? He's a good psychological bonus to the team, as he's friends with many of the players, so it would not be a good idea to fire him without any good reason whatsoever anyway.

La Vherderoja
The nickname is a reference to the colour of the kits, though the nickname itself is in Farf.

Style Modifier
Farfadillis will attack, and whenever they find themselves needing to park the bus, they will attack more.

Name: Erfaon Lisdiren
Age: 31
Team: Image Colonial Sile Image
Description: Lisdiren is the last resort of the team to prevent a goal. Despite being the last resort, the entire team often relies on him being in a good day, in which he almost always is. The thing is, Farfadillis' attacking style, in which some defenders even attack more than they defend, pretty much means there will always be many shots against. This is when Lisdiren comes in and saves the day. He can and probably will stop just about any shot within what's possible for a human, but he gives rebounds. The technique to score against him is to either shoot powerfully and have a good poacher, have a clinical finisher, or just outnumber him in a counterattack, passing the ball to the side when he approaches you one-on-one. Match reports will often rate him as a seven or more, even if Farfadillis concedes like four goals. He can, obviously, perform badly, but it's far from common. As good as he may be, don't take him as better than, say, Iulian Kirilaunen or Kajaxo Imaslavii. He's not at that level.

Name: Sifé Rigutti
Age: 24
Team: Image Ousteeble TU Image
Description: Sifé Rigutti is a pretty good goalkeeper who has so far been unlucky enough to play at the same time as Lisdiren. He's very secure with the ball, and often denies the opponent from rebounds. Sadly, unlike Lisdiren, his diving is nothing extraordinary and so he cannot save Farfadillis nearly as much as Lisdiren can. He's a very good leader, and would no doubt do well should he start, just, well, not as well as Lisdiren does. He's seven years younger than Lisdiren, so surely he can hope for a starting spot someday? Nope, as much as he may be a Di Bradini Cup runner-up, Rôhj Tzâín is younger and just won it.

Name: Rôhj Tzâín
Age: 20
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: Heralded as Lisdiren's heir, winning the Di Bradini Cup certainly increased the fuzz. Without a doubt, he's a great goalkeeper. One with a very bright future, without a doubt. Starting for Mâ Âlâmëómë for two years now, it was obvious that Rossizzo would call him up so that he could gain valuable experience before replacing Lisdiren. He's pretty lazy inside the pitch in that he hates to organize the defense, but Rossizzo seems to be doing a good job in instigating it to him. Apart from that, he's an all-around wonderful goalkeeper. He's not really tall, just of average height, but his saves can be stunning. Many times, watchers have been thankful for him saving a goal, just because the save was more beautiful than the goal would've been. He's quick-tempered, but he's also from Ruland, and knows very well what he can and cannot do to not harm the team.

Name: Agundí Frêndê
Age: 31
Team: Image Neuville Scythers Image
Description: Frêndê is somewhat legendary. He's been around since World Cup 60, when the Farf national team first played an official match (he's the only player to still be around, along with Erfaon Lisdiren and Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl). He sucks at defending, though. He makes up for it with his exquisite attacking skills. He's one of the very few Farf sidebacks that can claim his offensive output outweighs the disadvantages of his terrible defending. Age is beginning to hit him, however, and his physical states is far from the best. However, he can still dribble and pass as if he was eighteen. He can still defend like a retard, too. This is likely to be his last tournament, and Fakkotti's injury has arrived just in time for him to be a starter in his goodbye.

Name: Cleto Mata
Age: 22
Team: Image Gwinevra Barbarians Image
Description: Mata's been around since the U-15s, having been the star of the U-15 World Cup 1 squad. He's a defender with an incredible dribbling, and an eye for a goal when it comes to venturing into the opponent's box. He's very good defensively, moore than good in many areas, though from a Farf perspective. He excels, however, at how he can bring his team out of the box whenever they park the bus without intending to (which rarely happens when playing for Farfadillis). He can start a counterattack in a matter of seconds, and will often take needless risks by dribbling an opponent inside the box. However, up to this date, none of the teams he's defended has had to regret him doing this. Never has any other player played the very definition of Farf defender so well.

Name: Santos Alaminos
Age: 24
Team: Image Colonial Sile Image
Description: Yes, Cleto Mata may be the best Farf-style defender out there, but nobody doubts that Santos Alaminos is who keeps the defense from being utterly terrible. He's a wonderful player when it comes to defending. He'd probably be a centre back if it weren't for his wonderful attacking capabilities. He can cover the holes Mata leaves and help the attack too. He can and will dribble his way out of the box, instead of clearing the ball like most other defenders would. He never, however, dribbles when it's not necessary. He's very disciplined and will only do what's best for the team. He's not tremendously fast, though he is fast. It's his incredible endurance that stands out. He can survive continuous runs up and down the pitch, somehow. He always gives his one hundred and one percent, and that's probably what places him above so many other players who'd like to play in his place. Going back to his attacking, he might be that extra player that finally breaks the opposing defense, as when it comes to attacking he's just another talented midfielder who can do as he wishes with the ball. He seemed to explode in World Cup 67, being one of the best players of the squad, with his most remarkable performance being against Valanora.

Name: Rancisc Faró
Age: 25
Team: Image Red Star Severny Image
Description: Faró is Dandalleion's half-brother (on his mother side). He's, just like him, very fast, though not as much. He's not the best of defenders, and indeed his defensive skills are above average at best, but his very good reflexes sort of make up for it, as well as his skills with the ball, being able to dribble and pass, something many good defenders can't do. Many goals that come from the centre are his fault, however, but Mêndêlöíndçêl and Alaminos are players who are perfectly capable of covering the holes Faró leaves. Still, don't ever think he's a bad player, as no bad player can reach the Divisjon One as a starter and play for his national team. He has recently fallen from grace, after a long streak of bad performances.

Name: Ivaktör Bârr
Age: 20
Team: Image Darveston City Image
Description: A product of Dí Maozöxê's youth academy, Bârr has gotten here thanks to a few good performances last Di Bradini Cup (which Farfadillis won!) and, specifically, because he performed incredibly in the final. He's a quick-tempered defender, but he can strike fear in all but the most brave strikers, even at the age of nineteen. He's tall, fast, and very strong. His technique is decent, but he's less skilled than most Farf defenders. He's a titan in the air. He's got the ability to read the game really well when fully focused. It has been proved that whenever Bârr is provoked, one of two things happen: either he gets sent off or he plays flawlessly. Rossizzo is trying to make him channel his anger in the second way, obviously.

Name: Joseý Daokō
Age: 26
Team: Image Dinamo Esca Image
Description: Daokō is a defender who knows how to defend decently. However, his skill with the ball is what has brought him here. Originally, he was one of the most expected players by the Farf fans, but after a very good Di Bradini Cup he sort of just faded out, even though he had made a high profile move to Mytannion. After some underperforming at Atletik Thessia, he was picked up by Dinamo Esca and is now still playing, somehow, at a good Mytanar team. Inevitably, he ended up being called up following Wii-Tzaara's injury coupled with Fakkotti's injury. It is rumoured his experience in Mytannion is what has prevented Rossizzo from calilng him up before; he is likely to have developed a terrible temper or to lack discipline or something. Truth is, Rossizzo is quite the stereotype follower. Nonetheless, Daokō will be wanting to stay in the team for the next World Cup, though it does not seem very likely.

Name: Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl
Age: 26
Team: Image Oyardo FC Image
Description: Say hello to the captain, and one of the two best players of the team. If there's anyone who knows what playing for Farfadillis is, it's either Lisdiren or him, with both having played each and every game of the national team. If there's anyone who knows about tough times, it's without a doubt Yurpá. He had to work his way out of Ruland, a complete hell-hole, by leaving his family behind to get to where he is now. He has had to make many tough decisions throughout his life. When it comes to football, however, all decisions seem very easy to him. He can strip any player from the ball as soon as he/she/it is unfortunate enough to give this phrenetic midfielder half a centimetre. Yes, phrenetic. He is a machine. His endurance is completely unmatched, and can often be seen conneting sprints in a way that seems inhuman. When he puts his eyes on the ball, it's all he cares about. This probably should be a flaw of his, but it's not. He will slide, jump, do just about anything to get the ball, but he never gets sent out. Indeed, he never commits unnecessary fouls. He's as clean a player as you may find, at least from the referee's perspective. He's not as good with the ball as some other players in the team, but he's by no means bad. He can provide teammates with assists, something he often does for his Astograthian club Oyardo, and dribble his way into the box. However, there's one thing at which he excels, which is an added bonus that makes him the incredibly threatening player he is: he's absolutely fantastic from long range. His shots are not necessarily precise, though they tend to be. It's their sheer speed that makes it impossible for the goalkeeper. Now, obviously, he'll be missing some attempts, and it may be difficult for him to find the space to shoot, but if he gets, say, three long-range shots in one match, at least one will probably be a goal. He just seems to wreak his anger when he lets those missiles come off his right foot. He can shoot with his left foot, too, but he's not that good with it. Despite being the captain, he's a very silent player inside the pitch, and will probably be the last person to be sent out due to being disrespectful to the referee. There's one last true thing about him: if to score a goal he has to suffer a terrible injury, he won't hesitate to score it. This might be one of his biggest flaws, however. He never seems to get injured, though. At least not with the national team. For Oyardo he has played more than two hundred games, evidence of just how experienced he is. He has turned down clubs like Royal Rumiatzi, too.

Name: Risko Kâí
Age: 22
Team: Image Urbizania Wanderers Image
Description: Risko Kâí is an incredibly dangerous hybrid between left midfielder and left winger. If he gets the ball, he will probably go down the flank and create an opportunity. He can dribble one, two, three and whatever number of players is needed. He's got each and every trick possible down his sleeve, and can pull off any of them at any given moment. He's a player who does not care for aggressiveness against him, and will tend to provoke the opponent by just ignoring it, and starting to go for nutmegs and similar humiliating tricks. He is, most of the time, extremely infuriating to the player(s) who have to take care of him. He can grab just about any defender's honour and tear it apart. He can cut in and shoot from afar, but he's as good at it as he's going down the flank. He's pretty good at passing, too, but it's not his biggest strength. As said, his biggest strength is his dribbling. His feinting, though a very well-known trick, is impossible to predict. For all you know, he could be about to shoot or dribble you. Every time he does something, it's a coin flip: he either gets it right, or wrong. If he gets it wrong, his reflexes tend to help him fix his mistake anyway. Not many players can properly hold him, though it's arguable if anyone can, as he's proved in two consecutive World Cups that he can destroy defenses at the young age of twenty-two. However, as heavily attacking as he may sound, he's still good defensively. He gives his all for the team, and knows how to strip players from the ball, though he's admittedly average at it. He may be very cheeky inside the pitch, but he's not the kind of player to get a red card for idiotic things, and he's not really that temperamental. He's never the kind of player to dive; often when he gets fouled inside the box, he continues with the ball attempting to score or assist, which backfires sometimes and just secures the goals other times. This is not something good for the team, but it does follow the spirit of the game. He's got one very bright future. His starting appearences while just twenty with Urbizania Wanderers should show that, so should his award as second best young player of the Astograthian league, just after the Polarian future superstar Moses Luc Bjerregaard. Many argue he could one day become the best Farf footballer in history.

Name: Mâás Fôx
Age: 20
Team: Image Directus Image
Description: Mâás Fôx is a nightmare to any defense. He's not great defensively, but he will cause a headache to most defenders. He's got an impressive long-range precision and an impressive playmaking ability. He can run down the flank impressively, but he prefers to cut in. Being ambidextrous lets him do whatever he wants, and makes him a lot more dangerous. Whenever he decides to cut in, defenders will have to guess whether he'll attempt a sniper assist to either Dandalleion, Tenian, Terán or Tuzzio or just shoot from afar, complicating the goalkeeper a lot. He's a wonderful free kick taker. If Farfadillis gets a free kick, he'll be the one taking it, and it's gonna be pretty dangerous for the opposing team. If you want to know something that may make you fear him despite his age, here it goes: he equalled Farfadillis' transfer record (10 million) at the age of sixteen, when he was signed by Directus. By the way, he's, just as most of the team, very fast. Oh, and he's very precise when crossing. And he cares not for pressure. He's not in a great physical state, however, and he probably won't be able to endure an entire match. He can be stripped from the ball by virtue of physical strength, but it's not recommended as he may play his way around it and provoke a foul. He's got a very bright future.

Name: Alex Terán
Age: 23
Team: Image FC Endeavour Image
Description: Where to start? Terán is an incredibly classy player with his heart belonging to the shirt he's defending and only to the shirt he's defending. However, there's a big twist: he sees football as a game and just a game. Always a cheerful, cheeky player, he can and will do anything to opposing defenders. He's spectacular when it comes to chipping the ball from outside the box, and has got a very good tactic for scoring from outside the box: if the goalkeeper is a few steps from the goal, chip the ball. If he's not, shoot powerfully to one of the posts. It has worked wonders for him at Farfadillis, getting the best player of the season award over many other very good players, such as Abuda, Einarsson, Pagagartundua, Kemp and even the Jansen twins. His endurance is stunning, his speed above-average, his dribbling very good and his playmaking out of this world. He's one of Rossizzo's biggest successes, as nobody would've called him up when Rossizzo did. He ended up not only winning his starting position in the national team, but also being a vital part of the squad that got to the round of sixteen, even scoring against the world champions, Eura. Though, well, that game was pretty much Risko Kâí versus Craig Sinclair. He's very good defensively, and is a player of box-to-box characteristics. He plays a slightly more attacking role than centre midfielder, but he still helps the defense a lot. Along with Tuzzio they form the centre attacking midfielder duo, Farfadillis' way of attacking through the centre. Tuzzio and Terán can easily assist Dandalleion, who is one of the easiest people to assist, so watch out for that. It certainly doesn't help the opposing defense that both of them are very precise long-range shooters, something almost characteristic of most Farf attackers, apparently.

Name: Ichi Tuzzio
Age: 26
Team: Image Makosile United Image
Description: Ichi Tuzzio is a very classy player; he often chooses to chip the ball when going one-on-one, and always gets it right. However, it's not how classy he is that makes him stand out, being one of the best players Farfadillis has to offer, certainly second-in-line to Dandalleion and Mêndêlöíndçêl, it is his incredibly convenient skillset for a centre attacking midfielder. First of all, he's a very good playmaker, and has almost telepathic communication with Dandalleion, with them being very good friends outside the pich, too. However, his playmaking ability is somewhat of a bonus, as what stands out is his incredible agility and reflexes when dribbling, coupled with his impressive technique. Therefore, he's a great dribbler, and can make his way into the box and score quite easily. It is not his dribbling, as good as it may be, that makes him stand above most others, though. It is his clinical shots that do. No matter where he is, he can get a shot on target if given half a centimetre. When inside the box and given space, the likelihood of him not scoring is very slim. He often aims for the lower corners, and almost always gets it right. His long-range shots are very common, too, and he often threatens opponents with them. Having to take care of Mêndêlöíndçêl's long-range efforts is not that difficult. Taking care of Alex Terán at the same time is not impossible. Taking care of Dandalleion too makes it difficult. Adding Mâás Fôx to the mix makes it even more difficult. However, adding Tuzzio into the mix makes it require an impressive tactician and very skilled midfielders, willing to give their all for the team. Now, obviously, he won't get all long-range efforts right, but they all tend to be powerful and precise. Very, very precise. He's pretty fast, but there is two downsides to him, the two closely related. His endurance is below-average and, probably as a consequence, he does not help out defensively. Dandalleion and Roga are more likely to help the defense than Tuzzio. Nonetheless, his sheer ability more than makes up for it. He's been phantom of his former self inside the pitch. Yet... he sort of plays like he used to in important matches. Eh, that works.

Name: Sê Mêrí
Age: 26
Team: Image FC Torshavn Image
Description: Mêrí is a strange case. He can play very good games just as he can play terrible games, though his skills has never been questioned. He was dropped from his starting position last AOCAF Cup following a poor performance the previous cycle. However, he has now had an apparently great season in Polarian football, despite his team ending in a bad position. It may have been of good help that his manager was Fendergéson Numbá, who is Rossizzo's good friend, too. Mêrí might be getting another chance soon. If he gets to play, watch our for his dribbling, speed and crossing. Oh, and his shooting. He may inadvertently cut in and bend the ball to the far post. He will be employed by Rossizzo as a left or right midfielder, though. Well, at least that's the way he's most likely to enter the pitch.

Name: Vasilije Østergård
Age: 25
Team: Image Avenida Victoria Image
Description: Østergård is a rather rare kind of striker: a playmaker striker. Not many strikers who specialize in playmaking exist nowadays, but Østergård is a fine example. He's not a starter, most likely ue to having some of the fiercest competition for his positions. If he were as good, but played as, say, centreback, maybe he'd replace someone else. He's a player with a lot of talent who's played for Avenida Victoria almost all his career, where he has excelled. His passing is just incredible, as his assists per match record shows. However, he's not a striker who gets many goals, though he has scored a few important goals for the national team. He can play as a centre attacking midfielder, too, but his long-range shooting is not perfect, even if precise. He will utterly decimate you from close-range if given enough space, though. Probably Rossizzo's first choice as a centre attacking midfielder, despite it not being his natural position.

Name: Cvijetin Santic
Age: 22
Team: Image Prostran I Forzuda Image
Description: Santic is a very rare type of player: one that is extremely loyal to his team, regardless of circumstances. He plays for Prostran I Forzuda, a team that was just recently promoted - thanks to Santic and only Santic - to the FFL2, Farfadillis' second division. He's notable for his very good tackling and prediction of the ball's path, which gives him a natural taste for recovering the ball. However, his long-range efforts, while not particularly impressive, are good too, and his dribbling and passing are not to be overlooked. He is a very balanced midfielder, and is often considered the exception to a well-known rule: Karuvans are bad at football. For the sake of context, Karuvis is a Farf state.

Name: Kühâx
Age: 22
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: Another player getting to the squad thanks to some impressive performances in the Di Bradini Cup. Unfortunately for Kühâx, though, he's got the toughest competition he could've got. On one side, Risko Kâí, who capatained him in the Di Bradini Cup he won. On the right, Mâás Fôx, who would've been preferred over him in the Di Bradini Cup had Rossizzo chosen to call up any capped palyers other than Risko. However, nobody can deny Kühâx is more than worthy of the spot in the bench. Playing for Mâ Âlâmëómë he's impressed many. He's got a lot of talent running down the flank, and his crosisng is exquisite. However, unlike most Farves, he's not that good cutting in and going for a shot, or a pass. He's pretty tall, and as a result can score headers to make up for it. As a bonus, he's better defending than Risko and Mâás, if Rossizzo needs to give up attack to get defense, but still be attacking, Kühâx will replace Fôx. He's also likely to enter in most matches, as Fôx's endurance is far from admirable.

Name: Nazeau Roga
Age: 25
Team: Image Iturributa United Image
Description: Roga is a mystery. He does not excel at anything, but he's above average in everything a striker needs. He's also an avid writer with already a few books under his belt, of which one has been a best-seller in Farfadillis. All of them were pretty grotesque in terms of plot, mind. He's not the striker who gets the most minutes, but he's had his chances and he seems to have done more than just well. He seems to play impressively for Iturributa United, though. He's already got a top goalscorer award under his belt, and has been a Champions' Cup runner-up. Now, the competition for being Dandalleion's partner is very hard, but who says he can't win it if he shows what he's shown for United this AOCAF Cup, in which he has been given the nod following Tenian's injury? He certainly has shown he's got the talent, specially as a poacher. Along with Dandalleion, they form a partnership of Champions' Cup runners-up, but who says they can't win trophies soon?

Name: Friekder Dandalleion
Age: 27
Team: Image Jungle Strike Image
Description: Say hello to Friekder Dandalleion, the most famous Farf player around. He started his career playing for the swamp football national team and shining at it. Ferdullaele gave him a chance for a trial as a result of his great performances. He was great. He eventually started playing for Ferdullaele, and then the national team following a move to Turori. The rest, as they say, is history. Dandalleion is the very definition of a versatile player, being able to play as either a right midfielder, a left midfielder, a centre attacking midfielder or any position up front. He can also play as a sideback if really needed. Being so versatile not only gives him more chances of playing (which he does not need), but it also gives him an ample skillset to pull off just about anything regardless of position. He knows each and every position down to every detail, and knows how to mix them, giving a lethal result. Rossizzo seems to have found the perfect combination for this, making him play as a striker on the left. This allows him to cut in and shoot to the lower corners, something he knows because of playing as a centre attacking midfielder for Jungle Strike (not the part of cutting in, obviously). This also allows him to venture down the flank thanks to his times as a left midfielder, and it also allows him to act as any other striker thanks to his times as a striker. However, there's one thing that makes Dandalleion outstanding. When you mix his hybrid position with astonishing speed (he's even got two gold medals last olympics, and qualified to the two hundred metres final) and an exquisite control of the sphere, you get a striker that's very easy to assist. Sure, he can create chances himself, but having Tuzzio and Terán assisting you makes everything easier. His dribbling and his finishing, which are unmatched when it comes to Farves, let him finish everything he starts. He's as complete as forwards come. The trick he likes to pull off the most is, as said, to cut in and shoot to the lower corners. The shots tend to be very fast and precise, which makes it all that harder for the goalkeeper. He's a very acrobatic player too, and he's not bad when heading, though he's the one who takes the corners. His crossing is very good, but he does not tend to cross (except from corners, as mentioned) anyway. If he goes down the flank, he's very likely to attempt to enter the box and create a much more dangerous chance than just crossing the ball. He's known for appearing when most needed. He recently shone for his club at the V-League, being the best player of the entire league for two times in a row now. A complete beast.

Name: Çis Dragãozý
Age: 23
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: Dragãozý is a very complete striker. He's slightly shorter than other players. However, he can score headers if left unattended. He single-handedly saved Sent 01 from relegation, and is certainly Mâ Âlâmëómë's biggest prospect (now along with Rôhj Tzâín) since Risko Kâí. Çis is known for spreading inspiration to the entire team. At the age of twenty-two, he's a great leader. He's also very fast and completely tireless. He can dribble really well, too. He has shown time and time again that he can score goals single-handedly, an ability that certainly hasn't escaped Rossizzo's eye. He is likely to get a good amount of playing time, even if it means using a third striker.

Name: Horacio Cornelio
Age: 23
Team: Image Avenida Leal Image
Description: The reason why Cornelio has been called up is mainly that, along with the future Astograthian superstar (might be pushing it there) Ostadar Arambilet (who is already a starter for his national team) and the Apoxian starter Kaj Aurora, he took Avenida Leal to third place in the FFL without any warnings. Now, Avenida Leal was expected to finish somewhere mid-table, as they were a great team for one that had recently been promoted. But... third place? That's quite a lot. He's a striker with a stunning speed and a good finishing, but his dribbling is not very good. In all reality, he shouldn't be getting much - if any - playing time, but who knows what goes through Rossizzo's mind? He might get some minutes.

Name: José Torino Fuego
Age: 18
Team: Image Liria Prizren Image
Description: First things first: Yes, he's eighteen. José Torino Fuego was a starter for the Di Bradini Cup-winning squad and was even the top goalscorer. He started playing at Flamagua and got them promoted to the FFL2 and even got them really far in the Series B Champions' Cup. Oh, and he got them promoted to the FFL after that. After that? He moved to Liria Prizren, where many hold the belief he will excel, in due time. Without a doubt a complete striker, he's heralded as the next Dandalleion, and he's got just the right age for that. His brother, Lorenzo Fuego, is capped for Farfadillis, but he failed to get a spot in this squad because of him. Family drama incoming! Oh, his eldest brother is the captain of Tifón De La Costa, a club recently promoted to the FFL, too. Inside the pitch, Fuego is notable because of his unquenchable will, his dribbling (which can even get confusing to the one watching from TV), his ability to never let a hole in the opposing defense escape his attention, his exquisite passing to make use of the previous skill and, finally, his stunning precision with his feet and his head. Certainly one with a big future.

Farfadillis is known for its extremely attacking style, which consists of constantly looking for the goal and counterattacking whenever the chance arises, if the team even got to defending in the first place.

The goalkeeper is usually very talented, as growing up in Farfadillis as a goalkeeper is a great way of learning to stop shots, which are excessive. It's also one of the most important positions, as this is generally a great leader and an extra security to prevent conceding goals.

The backline is generally not that defending, with a centre back which is the only player almost 100% concentrated on defending. The side backs tend to join the attack. However, this depends on the player. It usually ranges from many times to countless times.

The midfield is very crowded, as a backline of three players allows for it. There's generally a defensive midfielder, which takes care of recovering the ball and distributing it appropriately. The defensive midfielder is generally tireless and shoots very well from long distances. There's then side midfielders, which join the attack and defend a lot. They're the soul of the team in a way, as they're vital for both defending and attacking. They tend to score a lot, as well, as they're pretty good at either shooting, dribbling, passing or two/all of them. There's then two centre attacking midfielders, a notable characteristic of the Farf national team. The two attacking midfielders are terrible defensively, and rarely ever carry out defensive tasks. However, they're talented at wreaking havoc by different means. These two are generally the most important threats of the attack, and the cntre of the Farf attack, which is very flexible as the team can attack through the flanks with the midfielders or the centre with this deadly duo. The centre attacking midfielders tend to be the most talented players, but some strikers are equally are good or better.

Finally, there's the strikers, the icing of the cake. Farf strikers tend to be very agile and deadly when finishing. They're also very good at dribbling and passing, plus they always seem to be at the right time in the right place. There's a great variety of Farf strikers, but there's just two spots available for them. Strikers are usually just another piece of the engine, but they tend to carry out more tasks than other players, such as having to score while having to receive passes from the attacking duo, or heading crosses from the side midfielders. Being a striker for Farfadillis is suitable only for the fittest players.

Due to Farfadillis' pervasive attacking style, very few teams can say they've managed a clean sheet against them after they first qualified for the World Cup, with East Shippensburg, New Gordonopia, Ko-oren, Wight and Kinitaria being the only ones capable of achieving that up to now, while Thatius can claim they survived 90 minutes, before conceding in extra time during AOCAF Cup 39's quarterfinals. It's not uncommon for Farfadillis to score more than three goals in a game, too. However, this comes with a huge drawback, which is conceding many goals. It's also not uncommon for Farfadillis to concede around two goals in a match. Farfadillis' style of play has been generally regarded as, with just one word, "exciting".

Starting XI

The starting eleven shows Erfaon Lisdiren defending the Farf goal, as expected. The centre back shall be Cleto Mata. The left back shall be Agundí Frêndê, who will be joining the attack a lot and is in his last tournament with Farfadillis. The right back shall be Alaminos, the best player of the defense. The defensive midfielder shall be Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl, leading the defense and attempting to minimize the number of goals conceded. He shall also be the one recovering the ball and making it flow to either the flanks or the centre attacking midfield duo. On the left, Risko Kâí shall be the one responsible for one of the toughest positions for a Farf. On the right, the young Mâás Fôx will be doing a similar thing. The centre attacking midfield duo will be composed of Ichi Tuzzio and Alex Terán, which conform what is argued to be the best centre attacking midfield duo in Farf history. This does not mean Farf history has been long, though. It's not been long at all. The two strikers shall be Friekder Dandalleion, threatening from pretty much anywhere, and Nazeau Roga, who shall be the 'cleaner', scoring the rebounds and the like, mostly.

La Fantás (100,000 seats)

Say hello to Farfadillis' still-somewhat-new stadium! Having recently hosted the Champions' Cup's 50th final and the Baptism of Fire's 54th final, it's shown to be a great stadium. It's got many, many, many seats, and it's filled with violent Farves, fanatics without any limits willing to shoot each and every one of your nation's fans! Not really, those are just a minority, albeit an incredibly loud one. No, seriously, gunshots are very loud.

People of Cellopane Show Their True Colors After AOCAF Announcement

Elaina Broache, The Address
In the 1700s, explorers to the north of the Atlantian Oceania region set forth to find a country to claim as their own, and settled on what is today known as Bonticello. Little did they know, the Bonte Tribes (blacks) already lived in the region. The Cellopane, however, being the more superior group, pushed them off the land and forced them to the western half of the nation. This expansion and subjugation continued until politician Harrow argued for the "Fair Frontier Act", which allowed the Bontes to keep 35% of their land. This was mainly done to stop conflict in the area. The nations developed and modernized separately for almost 300 years. Small-time border conflicts continued, and ideological hatred was spread from generation to generation.

5 years ago today, the racially segregated nations of Bonte and Cellopane announced that they would combine themselves once again as one nation. The response was met with little public commentary from commoners, and not much local change took place. Bonte remained 90%+ Black, and Cellopane 90%+ White. Nobody was forced to integrate, and no major changes took place. However, the congress did become much more progressive, and started to make efforts with Equal Race Programs.

This morning, at noon, the Cellopane and Bonte athletic organizations announced that for the first time ever, Bonticello would compete on the national stage. Their first event: Soccer. And for the first time ever, the teams would be racially integrated. They will be competing in the Atlantian Oceania Confederation of Association Football Cup.

Upon hearing the results, citizens in several metropolitan Cellopane area went on a violent rampage. Accounts of looting, arson, murder, and robbery have all been reported. Over 3400 injuries, and 130 deaths have taken place just today, as the Eastern half of the country is in complete disarray.

Peacekeepers from the nation of Vettrera were called in to aid police officials in calming the riots, which are finally showing signs of stopping. Head Ambassador Frederick Murdoch stated in a press conference today: "We can no longer avoid change. We can no longer procrastinate and sweep the issue under the rug. Bonticello is one nation, one people, and we WILL showcase it to the world."

Surprisingly, this is the first time that Bonticello has had a riot of this massive scale. Even when announcements were made that Bonticello was combining, the response was not this massive. This is largely due to the fact that Bonticellote Congressmen stated that no forced desegregation programs would be put in place. The fact that Bonte remained relatively calm at hearing the news about the AOCAFCup does however prove that the transition may not be as hard for the Western half of the country when it comes to keeping the past in the past and supporting diversity in the nation.

There is also a third kit, which is mostly gold, if neither of these is suitable, and a commemorative white kit with a black trim and red flame motif.

My RP Permissions are pretty chill to be honest.
Pretty much anything goes, I only ask that you let me decide the severity of any injuries you decide to RP for me, please.
Send my players off if you must -- if its a player I really didn't wanna lose for the next game, I'll RP an appeal or something.
Oh and at the risk of sounding a bit "RAWR" ... do not kill any of my players or coaching staff (unless I say go ahead via TG).
Killing fans is okay though. Go nuts with that if you like.

Most likely to...
Score a goal: Nathaniel Doherty, Giorgia Caruso or Elena Varela
Create that goal: Wesley Kane, Roque Acosta or Octavio Madera
Win a free kick: Nathaniel Doherty or Giorgia Caruso
Take (and score) that free kick: Roque Acosta
Win a penalty: Giorgia Caruso or Elena Varela
Take (and score) that penalty: Roque Acosta
Miss a penalty: Octavio Madera
Score a header off a set piece: Emanuele Riviello
Score an own goal: Emanuele Riviello
Hack an opponent down: Irving Healy
Lose their head and get sent off: Adam Griffiths
Commit a professional foul: Clemente Jaconelli
Argue with the referee: Emanuele Riviello or Adam Griffiths
"Disappear" during a match: Arturo Monte
"Put in a shift": Roque Acosta, Vitor Abrego or Nicolo Maga
Have an elaborate goal celebration planned out: despite the risk of infuriating the gaffer, Isaac Barker still probably would
Get caught stumbling out of a nightclub: not even Barker is reckless enough to risk this one
Do charity work: Estefania Pelayo or Arturo Monte
Elicit marriage proposals from fans: Ruby Fletcher, Yazmin Velásquez or Irving Healy

Firstly, the NSWiki page is not complete, but still worth a look...

It's important to note that the team itself generally doesn't normally defend consciously. They press high up the pitch to compress the space -- because they are largely comfortable playing the ball under pressure -- and try to win the ball back as quickly as possible, sometimes over-committing, and leaving themselves vulnerable to a swift counterattack. Generally pacy defenders help to alleviate this problem somewhat.

They will also slow down when ahead later in the game, but only so they don't unnecessarily provide opportunities to lose possession and/or concede. This doesn't mean they wont take the opportunity to score if it presents itself, though...

The front line of three is often very flexible, with all three typically capable of playing in any of the front three roles at any given time. Most of the time, the centre forward/striker will remain the focal point of the team's central attacking, though.

If there is an attacking midfielder on the pitch, they will likely operate as a "false ten" in tandem with a forward dropping deep (like a "false nine"). Effectively they will be most likely to get onto the end of passes in the final third, and thus score goals. Varela and Caruso have a very good understanding in a combination like this, from their shared time at Utica University.

On the occasions no specifically named attacking midfielder is used, typically it is an indicator that the manager expects a tighter battle for possession in the midfield zone. In these situations, expect Acosta to push forward more often, while the third midfielder is a more defensively-focused option. Often a physical player whose presence might tip the balance in Osarius' favour.

The fullbacks typically overlap a lot -- considering how often the wingers change sides and become "inverted" (i.e. cutting inside the defender on their stronger foot, rather than pulling wide) -- and seem to operate almost as advanced as wingbacks (or even midfielders against considerably weaker teams) a lot of the time, making the system a sort of like a 3-4-3 when Osarius attack, due to the most defensive-minded midfielder typically dropping deeper to counter against a potential playmaker "in the hole" for the opposition.

Defensively, Osarian centre-backs are typically pacy and expected to have strong aerial ability and good positional awareness. The latter part is less important if a player is particularly quick, though. Almost certainly, one of the centre backs or the goalkeeper will be good at organising the defence. In cases where there is a notable lack of organisational skill -- typically in situations lacking experience -- there is a clear knock-on effect on the rest of the team.

Set piece preferences (in order):
Corner kick takers: Whichever wingers/wide forwards are on the pitch
Penalty takers: Roque Acosta, Giorgia Caruso, Yazmin Velásquez
Free kick takers: Roque Acosta or Yazmin Velásquez
Long free kicks: Emanuele Riviello, or the goalkeeper (for offsides, really)

You don't have to stick to all of that, though. It just fits in better with the way I intend to RP my team (when I can).

Something that is important to know is that football isnt the number on sport in Osarius. Its second, to GraviBall, though the gap is (still) closing.

Footballers in Osarius are loved if they make tough tackles, because the combative nature of the game is what the majority of fans like most. Very passionate, are Osarian fans, you see. Sooo... basically, if you're not scoring goals or making crunching tackles, the fans generally aren't impressed. That goes for opponents too... Osarian fans always appreciate a good tackle, so they will even applaud opposition players at times (although they will boo their goals, obvs).

The complicated tactical systems used by modern Osarian teams are well-understood by the fans, and a growing football blogging community within Osarius often has in-depth tactical discussion, and regularly posters show great insight. This is thought to be the result of a general increase in coaching quality throughout the nation, which has also contributed heavily to the national team's increased degree of success in recent years.

From time to time I'll make reference to the area a player is from, and when I do, I will try to add an OOC note to explain what it means, because different regions of Osarius have almost entirely different cultures. For example, Tubrissian people's habits and sayings are heavily based on Phoenician/Carthaginian culture and religious beliefs; Islanders -- those from Kyoshiku/Kholanaras Island in the south-west -- have a warrior-centric culture and are quite insular; many Ikutursans worship a malevolent, erisian, serpent deity... and so on.

Manager: Jermain Lewis
You'd think after reaching the final last time around, the gaffer would have a lot of support, right? Not so much. Another disappointing World Cup campaign -- despite a superb qualifying run, that beat Osarius' record unbeaten streak -- the former national team captain and living legend is beginning to feel the heat. With approximately half of his finalist squad from AOCAF Cup 42 now over 25, they will not be present on the pitch in Kinitaria, putting greater emphasis on Lewis' ability to pick a team and his man-management skills. He does seem confident in his players, though, as always. Particularly in his young captain, Roque Acosta.

Assistant Manager: Elissa Barca-Carthy
[ summary ]

Coaches: Georgina Carsley, Lorenzo Ruiz, Serenity Lewis, Jayson Dhanda, Ayanna Barca-Carthy

Perhaps because he's spent the majority of his life working with footballers, Jermain Lewis has surrounded himself with them in the backroom for Osarius, too. Former teammates Carsley and Ruiz provide balance to his notoriously emotional approach to management, being well-acquainted with the gaffer's outbursts.

His daughter Serenity -- who retired early, he claims -- has certainly earned her place at his side by merit. Her influence has not waned significantly during the short few years since her decision to hang up her boots, and while she shares her father's propensity for "tough love", she has proven an effective mentor while studying for her top level coaching badges. The running joke in the dressing room is that Serenity's own mentor -- Ayanna Barca-Carthy -- now acts as her "assistant". It's not far from the truth, as the elder ex-captain often defers to Serenity's leadership. "Super Ayanna" prefers to coach at a more technical level, leaving the psychology to the woman who first led an Osarius team to "the promised land".

Jayson Dhanda's demanding sessions are the cornerstone of his coaching. No player emerges from one of his sessions feeling fresh -- except maybe the cyborg-like Ezio Grassi -- and as much as they whine, they hold his remarkable conditioning and drive in high esteem. Lewis claims that Dhanda is "testament to the value of hard work" because he rose to captain the national team, and now coach it, not on the back of natural talent, but his phenomenal work rate. His influence on the younger members of the squad in particular has not gone unnoticed during training excursions.

Specialist Coaches: Lana Schroeder (goalkeeping), Claudio Traga (fitness)
Traga's constantly evolving fitness plans are immensely popular within Osarius -- it is estimated that 50% of all gym-goers or fitspos in the country follow one of them -- and his reputation is well-earned. His latest method, "mental fitness training", combines his vast knowledge of physical fitness with principles that he has proven -- to some extent -- to assist in the mental aspect of the game. Schroeder's extensive knowledge of the goalkeeper position, has been well utilised by Jermain Lewis. It's not easy to step up and replace probably the best goalkeeping coach in the country since the legendary Enzo Corradini. Particularly not when you're a woman in a sport dominated by men. Schroeder has had no such trouble, however. Her expertise has commanded respect and attention from the most promising custodians Osarius has to offer, and she no doubt seeks to help them become legends in their own right.

Medical Staff: Dr. Clara Cormega (physiotherapist), Dr. Vite Karusiki (team doctor)
Dr. Cormega has quickly formed a strong rapport with key members of the squad, likely due to her sometimes unorthodox, but always effective methods. After having she has spent the better part of the past decade learning from her predecessor and completing her PhD last autumn, Dr. Cormega has combined her knowledge and experience with that of her husband -- Grasshoppers Turic manager Roberto -- to play a significant role in the minimising of injury within the Osarius camp. In a similar vein, Dr. Karusiki's openness to new ideas and strong familiarity with athletic injuries have proven invaluable traits. The two have a strong working relationship, and having both graduated from Utica University, they share something of a bond. Dr. Karusiki's expertise appear to extend beyond the typical medical doctor's remit, however, as he has taken on something of a counselling role; much like his predecessor.
