Esportivan Friendship League (Signups/Interest) (Esportiva)

This is an interest/probably sign-up thread for the Esportivan Friendship League, a new multiassociational league that I (Taijan/Frusennia/Texacano) intend to start for UICA's fifty-third cycle as a way of having some of Esportiva's more obscure puppets get the benefit of participating in UICA without the headache of scorinating a multi-tiered league.

The idea is pretty simple; I'll scorinate a league with teams submitted from Esportivan nations. Note that the deadline won't be for awhile, so your nation doesn't have to be in Esportiva at this exact moment to qualify. I won't place a hard cap on the number of teams that a single association can submit, but I will limit it based on the number of other teams from other associations (so more associations=more teams/association).

My intent is that should it get big enough (probably 28-32 teams), I will split it into two divisions, which will initially be "placement groups" a la the now-defunct NationStates Premier League and later will be tiers, with the second-tier teams being eligible for both promotion and the UICA Series B Champions' Cup. I will also accept reserve and farm teams from established associations, though their UICA eligibility is pending Commerce Heights' say-so.

Sign up and let me know your thoughts in this thread. Cutoff will likely be about two weeks prior to the regular UICA cutoff, with results posted that week and then a week for you all to get your RPs in where CH can see them. There will be no RP bonus given in the EFL stage, at least not initially, but you will have the opportunity to RP for UICA purposes.

How many teams per nation did you plan? and, how many tiers? because I'm interested to add one of my puppets in this.

Like I said, no hard-and-fast upper limit on clubs per nation. It will have more to do with the number of nations total, so that the league isn't dominated by one nation or another. I would say start out with four or so, in addition to the one from SJG that you've mentioned in the RMB.

As far as tiers, I'd like to have at least two, but again it will depend on participation. If I get enough teams (say 28 or so), I will divide it into two tiers and the winners of the second tier will be eligible for the Series B Champions' Cup.

You are certainly both allowed and eligible.

Now, for both Gloriax and SJG, the big man (aka Commerce Heights) has said that a multiassociational league essentially cannot serve to give more UICA slots to anyone, so if you have a main nation and a puppet that both participate in UICA already, you may certainly enter teams into the EFL, but understand that they will be ineligible for the EFL's UICA slots. Now, he also expressly said that EFL teams may compete in UICA under the auspices of their home association, meaning that if Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk won the EFL and SJG wanted to, he could insert them in his qualifiers for the Globe Cup or the Champions' Cup or whatever.

In effect, placing a puppet in the EFL would take the place of that puppet's eligibility for UICA on its own terms.

I'll enter teams with Wray, if that's cool. Uitbregen doesn't enter UICA competitions, if that makes a difference.

Totally cool. And if you don't already have a UICA association, that means your teams are eligible to compete in UICA under the auspices of the EFL.

I'd appreciate it if people who've been telling me their teams via RMB and TG could post here, but it's not a requirement.

As I said once, I'm sending the three Armed Forces squads from Chun-nan but that's it. They're NOT available for UICA, so if they get a spot, they should be jumped out.

Signups updated. Currently sitting at 19 teams, 12 of which are UICA-eligible, plus 6 as-yet unnamed from SJG, so this is actually doing a lot better than I expected.

My teams: Okha Anti-FASistas, Sakhalin Albion, Shakhtyor Pyatigorsk, Ministry of Sports, Kuril Bulldogs and Nadezhda Polyarniy. All are from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Gorod, (Expect confirmation soon) and they can't qualify to UICA.

Updated through YSG. Currently standing at 32 teams, 16 of which are UICA eligible. With that, I will plan to split the league into two even groups of sixteen. If we reach forty-two signups, I will split it into three groups of fourteen and in the unlikely event that we reach sixty, I will split it into four groups of fifteen. These groups will initially be divided randomly a la the NSPL (may it rest in peace), with a playoff to determine UICA qualification, and then the end-of-season rankings will determine the leagues for the next cycle.

I'm still open to suggestions about everything from an in-season cup to the names of the placement groups. Right now I'm leaning toward something kind of silly in keeping with the less-than-serious vibe of the whole thing, but again, open to suggestions.

I'm not sure about UICA eligibility: I enter teams with Svengarda, but with no-one else. Does it matter?

You can have two UICA-eligible nations, so Wray would be eligible as your puppet. You don't have to enter them if you don't want to, though.

I'm going to go ahead and set 1 March as a tentative deadline for EFL entries, with the caveat that your nation must be in Esportiva by 15 February to be eligible.

Since (I think) that the NSPL is "dead" for now, I'll be transferring CF Sangti here, with a B side possibly in my regional league.

If this club is to be UICA eligible, then it is up to CH to decide that. But I think I'll set the club to UICA ineligible, to be safe.

Your B side will be welcome in the EFL next season, when it will have a second division.
