Opening ceremony

Postby Bulgar Rouge » Tue Feb 18, 2014 1:06 pm

The opening ceremony of the First Spartakiad opens at 21:00 local time at "Bulgaria" stadium. This remarkable sporting event is the first of its kind in Bulgaria's modern history, which has not hosted a multi-event tournament since the 1970s. The people's government of the Democratic Republic of Bulgaria has organised the Spartakiad to bind together brotherly Socialist nations in an egalitarian contest of skill, stamina, strength and utmost determination to achieve victory. The ceremony begins with playing the national anthem of the Democratic Republic of Bulgaria before a total of 76,000 spectators at the stadium.

Image
The entire stadium then explodes in bright lights as the anthem concludes. The public cries in exhaltation as the Spartakiad theme starts booming from the loudspeakers and the Parade of Nations begins. After two smaller delegations, the Bulgarian one appears on the track - not one, but all athletes proudly carry their nation's crimson flag. Sports commentators begin their commentary.

Good evening to the people-masses from me, Georgi Vuchkov from "Bulgaria" Stadium where the magnificent opening ceremony of the First Spartakiad is just beginning.

Good evening from me too, I'm Svilen Nachev and we can guarantee you the atmosphere here on the stadium is indeed awe-inspiring, especially as the nations are now beginning their parade. The Parade of Nations just began and we can now see the small delegations of Bezkova and Britonisea carrying their flags on the track. Just behind them we can see our own delegation, by far the largest one - consisting of a total of 96 athletes competing in all events. Interestingly, some of these events, like futsal and the men's 4x400 m relay will see Bulgarian athletes competing in them for the first time.

Svilen, in light of you saying "interesting", I would also like to point out a very interesting moment in the ceremony itself: this is the first event in our State since 2014 where time is not measured for military purposes. As we know, our beloved Party abolished time measurement as part of our liberation from exploitative capitalist practices.

Indeed, the saying "time is money" is quintessential for capitalist societies where people are deprived of sleep and need to sell both their labour and their health round the clock in order to survive.

Well, Georgi, tonight we demonstrate that time is not necessarily money - it can simply be the difference between winning and losing, and hopefully we will enjoy a great competition. Now we are seeing the delegation of Nassau-Hessen, the second-largest one. Behind them are our Socialist brothers from San Jose Guayabal, and we can also see the Slave State and Socialist Romania coming out on the track.

Personally I can't wait to see the magnificent athletes of Tamboko who will come up in a few seconds, I believe they will be the main challenge for everyone at the 200 metres. Their young and optimistic people begin their sprinting careers in the lush rainforests and fields of central Africa the moment they come out of the cradle, and that is something no amount of training can compensate for.

Image
All participating nations, as well as the Independent competitors, line up on the track, awaiting the grand artistic event describing the history of Bulgaria and the achievements of its Revolution. The dramatic representation shows the beginnings of the Bulgar people in the early 600s, going through the period of the mighty Bulgarian empires, their tragic demise at the hands of the Ottoman conqueror, the Liberation and the beginning of the modern era. A living screen of 7,000 children with cardboards display the number "2013" while a spectacle involving nearly 20,000 athletes depicting the eruption and battles of the Revolution takes place on the field.

The revolutionary spirit is high on the stadium now as we see an epic representation of the battles of Vidin, Kozloduy, Dolni Dubnik and Silistra which took place in 2013 and resulted in the total elimination of the anti-popular forces.

Indeed a very strong moment, Svilen, we all remember how our country was left for dead by its government back then after the calamities. There was only way to get us through this horrible period and a people's revolution was our way out. A massive "2014" is depicted on the cardboard wall and bright red lights erupt all over the stadium to signify the victory of our National People's Liberation Army at the final Battle of Sofia.

And after this, of course, we see the Five Achievements of the Socialist People's Revolution: the abolishment of money, the abolishment of private property, the liberation from the urban capital and the recovery from the calamities. Representative blocks from our society now hold a parade - the peasantry, the industrial workers, the faithful Party members and the military.

Here comes the most impressive part - the Sports Division. A little history on this; before 2014 the Bulgarian Army had a National Sports Company which included some of the best athletes who had decided to join the country's defence. After the Revolution the company was expanded into a division-sized unit numbering 15,000 people. Some of Bulgaria's best athletes have been trained in the gymnasiums of the Sports Division, which is now demonstrating its best performances in demonstrative martial arts and gymnastics.

Image

As the artistic ceremony concludes, the Spartakiad torch is carried into the field. Minutes later, the Spartakiad Fire is lit up. The First Spartakiad is now officially opened.

Spartakiad kicks off with brilliant performance of national futsal team
20 February 2018

Image
Yavor Dimitrov (right)
Bulgarian athletes demonstrated excellent skills and preparation at the first day of the Spartakiad. At the futsal group stage, our team defeated the squad of San Jose Guayabal by 6-3 in a game which most expected to end in favour of the opponent. Bulgaria is now first in its group after Tamboko and Nassau-Hessen finished 7-6 in a heated game.

The game began as a disaster for the Revolutionaries, who received two goals in the first five minutes of the game. In the eleventh minute, San Jose Guayabal scored a third one and all seemed lost until team captain Yavor Dimitrov delivered two powerful shots to the adversary's net in the 17th and the 19th minute. The Bulgarian team had obviously found a fresh drive during the second half. It resisted heavy pressure from the Guayabals in the first four minutes and then pressed on to counterattack. Danov (8') leveled the result and Dimitrov ('12) made a hat-trick to pull the Red machine ahead in the result. Panov (16') and Dzhamdzhiev (18') finalised the score in this brilliant match.

At the Men's 4x400 metres relay, the Bulgarian squad surprisingly finished second, earning the first medal for our State at the Spartakiad. Petar Popov was running fourth, right behind the relay of Nassau-Hessen, and the status quo was continued by Todor Yankov. An impressive sprint by Vasil Tanchev and Yordan Chernin, coupled with Tamboko's trouble passing the relay between Tandara and Jajougou secured the second place for our team with a total time of 2:59.04, or +0.30 after Darmen's team. In the first semifinal of the Men's 200 metres, Georgi Peshev finished 7th with a time of 20.44 and failed to qualify for the finals.

Batesian and Bevasseur look in top form, 4x400 gold

Bonom Batesian won his Semifinal in the 200m sprint, with a time of 20.11 seconds, while Jordan Bevasseur finished in third place with a time of 20.17 seconds. Both athletes advanced to the final.

In the 4x400meter final, Dodor Drevan, Carvello Moretti, Horace Burace and Sterling Jones finished seven tenths of a second ahead of the relay team from Bulgar Rouge, taking the first gold medal of this Spartakiad. Drevan and Jones's legs were superb, the fastest compared to their opponents.

In Futsal, Darmen defeated the Independent Spartakiad Competitors by the score of 5-0. Shon Nitcher scored a hat trick, while thirty-nine year old Elden Kruiboesch and Hosea Jackett each added goals of their own. Darmen still has to face Socialist Romania and Esperia Bianca, but both matches are expected to be easy wins.

Radio Etoile du Congo

Our delegation at the First Spartakiad in Bulgaria continues to bring the spoils of victory to our youthful nation. After 18-year old Mathieu Golinga secured his spot at the Men's 200 metres final and the silver brought by our team from the Men's 4x400 m relay event yesterday, more medals came in today. Tamboko took the gold and the bronze at the Women's 200 metres. Espoire Sassou from Bogoro decisively finished first with a result of 21.77 seconds, followed by Lady Diana Louisanna from Britonisea with 22.12 and Jeanne Kabila with 22.20. At the Women's 4x400 metres Tamboko's relay finished third with a result of 3:32.41. The event was won by the Darmen relay.

Our nation was less fortunate at volleyball where we lost from Bulgaria by 1:3 at the group stage. Our team won the first game with 25:21, but the Bulgarians then mobilised and took three consecutive games.

Relay Gold Double, Darmen leads Medal Table

The Women's 4x400 meter relay team of Iset Fenn, Liana Marszalek, Kalea McNabb and Margarete Platt took the Gold Medal in their final, winning by over two full seconds. Together with the men, Darmen has swept the relay Gold, one of the important factors in Darmen's Medal Table lead. Earlier in the day however, in the Women's 200 meter Final, Leah Shope and Rose Dearborne were both disapointing in their results, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.

Miroslav Javanovic and Kiernan Litwiller won the Gold and Silver medals respectively in the Men's Pole Vault Final. Javanovic was able to finish with a best jump of 5.95 meters, while Litwiller was a tenth of a meter behind. Cloelius Ness took the Silver in the Triple Jump, with a best jump of 16.7 meters, while his teammate, Erwin Kruse, finished fourth, with a best jump of 16.57 meters.

The Men's Volleyball team dropped their first match against San Jose Guayabal, 26-24, 27-25, 23-25, 29-27. Darmen still has matches against Tamboko and Bulgaria to redeem themselves and move closer to a medal.

The Men's Futsal team defeated Esperia Bianca, 8-3, in their second match, and have only to face Socialist Romania before advancing out of the Group Stage. Deangelo Detering scored twice, while the other three starters each scored their own goals and substitute Winford Abdelaziz scored a hat trick.

Bulgarian athletes competed again at the athletics events
21 February 2018

Image
Yasen Peev
Bulgarian athletes competed today at the Men's Pole vault, Men's Triple jump and Futsal events today.

At the Men's Pole vault, Yasen Peev finished last after three failed attempts. His weak performance has been criticised by coaching staff and attending Party members, but they noted that Peev is among the youngest athletes and experience at international competitions like the Spartakiad is crucial for him. At the Men's Triple jump, Daniel Minev and Petko Bobev finished 5th and 6th, respectively.

Our national team suffered a 0-5 defeat from the team of Nassau-Hessen at the futsal qualification B Group. Bulgaria is to have its last match against Tamboko on Sunday.

Tamboko athletes continued a successful third day of the Spartakiad competition in Bulgaria. At the Men's 200 m second semifinal, Pierre Baba finished second after a photo finish decided that Sonic Radley from Britonisea was ahead with a fraction of the second. Baba and Mathieu Golinga will represent Tamboko at the Men's 200 m finals. Both have commented before the beginning of the event that they expect nothing short of medals in this discipline. Both Baba and Golinga have been two-fold national champions of Tamboko at the 200 metres.

In Futsal, Tamboko beat San Jose Guayabal 6-5 in a dramatic match. This way, our team remains at the top of its B Group in the futsal tournament with two victories.

In a surprising outcome at the Men's 200 metres final, Mathieu Golinga finished a close second after Bezkova's Sandar Sakaiev. Golinga finished with a result of 20.04 after a dramatic run which saw all competitors finishing in less than half a second and Darmen's Bonom Batesian failing to reach the line after a fall shortly after starting. Pierre Baba was fourth.

Tamboko is now 3rd in the overall medal table with all but one of our nine competitors medaling so far. The futsal team will go out against Bulgaria in its last group match today.

Britonisea gets SILVER

Country: Bulgaria Rouge

BAC is not too happy at the moment as Britonisea has only got 1 silver medal. We have got that silver medal from Lady Diana LOUISANNA (BRI) which a fast 200m score of 22.12. We are hoping that we get at least 1 more silver or 2 bronze or even 1 gold would be nice. Our close country San Jose Guayabal and host Bulgaria are not doing the best either! But we will see how this pans out and I am sure we can get another medal. Right?

We have to watch two at once as the Winter Olympics take center stage. Can The I Spartakiad do better for us than the winter Olympics?

Britonisea gets SILVER

Country: Bulgar Rouge

We done it again. Britonisea has another silver medal in it's hand bring the total up to 2 silver medals. The star of today is Edwarinia LEWIS (BRI) in the Womens triple Jump Finals with a good jump of 13.85 meters. BAC are feeling a little bit better as the target gets closer and closer. Can Britonisea get another medal in the meantime?

More to be added.

OOC: I know its late, I'll try to make up time soon

Spartakiad Day 6 of 12

Nothing Much, Futsal Edged And Eliminated By SJB

FUTSAL:

There was not much to say on day six, only a simple Futsal game to show. The Hessians faced off against the Guayabalians in Futsal, if they won they would've advanced to the next round. The goalies played fairly strong, and San Jose was only able to scrape a header by the Eagles defense by the half. The Red and Purple responded soon after they commenced the second half, with a goal at 55' that blazed past the Guayabalian goalie. San Jose responded in an urgent and organized way with a cross goal right in front of the goal. The score persisted for the remainder of the game and as a result, SJG took down the Eagles and eliminated them from the tournament.

Tseno Ivanov beats Olympic record, grabs first gold for Bulgaria
25 February 2018

Image
Tseno Ivanov
Heavy category weightlifter Tseno Ivanov earned the first gold medal for Bulgaria at the Men's 85 kilograms. Ivanov had a flawless record both at the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, achieving a record total lift of 394 kilograms. His achievement beat the Olympic record of 392.5 kilograms, but fell short from the World record of 395 kilograms. The small four-man event was not expected to yield significant results, and Ivanov himself was surprised by his achievement. 'After my second attempt at the Clean & Jerk the first place was guaranteed, but I decided to go for an Olympic record attempt. To be honest, I wasn't 100% sure I'd make it. But I pushed myself to the limit and knew that the record was not for me, but for my country. I devoted all my efforts to the Fatherland and now I devote my achievement to it.'

Ivanov was cheered by the 5,000-odd crowd in "Long March Arena". He was also saluted by Sohi Iang of Esperia Bianca, who took the silver, Damon Stuart from San Jose Guayabal who took the bronze, and Romanian Dragos Marcel, who finished fourth. The Bureau of Sports at the People's Committee of Domestic Affairs announced that the best-performing Bulgarian athletes would earn the Order of Georgi Dimitrov, and Ivanov now seems a likely recepient. At the Men's 56 kg, Ivan Gechev took the third place, but no medals are awarded at this event.

The Spartakiad programme continues on the 26th with finals in shooting and volleyball.
