The idea of the 50 percent degradations on to keep people RPing throughout the tournament. Of course, I am willing to bring that number down if it seems more sensible.

Bid to Host the Tier 2 (Grass) Salvador Hills Open

About Salvador Hills

The Salvador valley in The Grearish Union welcomes one and all to the proposed Salvador Hills Open in the city of Salvador nestled cozily in the lap of the Antane mountain range. The city (earlier known as San Salvador) was bought from San Jose Guayabal after their government decided to sell of some of the land to restart the governance in the nation. The valley itself is covered in sprawling meadows and the pristine river Macary flows through it at the trough. Not far in the distance one could see the sun rise and set over mighty Antane Range, lighting it up in a splendid amber as it goes about its daily routine. Winter further up in the mountains are a prime season for skiing, while the summers are the pleasant time when we invite the greatest tennis players of the world to come to Salvador for the Salvador Hills Open! The sprawling meadows make for the perfect blades of grass on display at the Salvador Tennis Arena, where Grearish tennis hero, Jeff Rogers is rumoured to have played in his early years.

With respect to Scorination

Xkoranate 0.3.3 shall be used to scorinate all matches in the tournament, which I have used for quite some time now. RP bonuses will be handed out in the cumulative method. I aim to scorinate each day, so do expect a short but crisp tournament.

Regarding the Experience

The Grearish Union is a returning user, having been involved with the nation of Gloriax in the previous stint. The user had then hosted quite a few seasons of (the then) UICA seasons, and had ventured out into hosting a few other tourneys. Truth be told, experience is rather limited.

Finally the Format

The usual 64/32 format for a Tier 2 competition will be preferred. Both the events, singles and doubles, will have scorination on the same day. This will be followed in exception to the first two rounds of the singles tournament and the first doubles round which will be spread out over 3 such windows.

Just on your proposed day format Grearish Union, so I'm to understand correctly that for the first round, singles are played on one day, and then doubles the next. Will that mean the next day will be singles only (because naturally the doubles competition has one less round), or will the doubles rest day be postponed later into the tournament?

Right. The deadline to replace the Schottian Handon Open has closed.

There are two options:
Accept Northwest Kalactin's bid (Mendez Bay Open)
Accept The Grearish Union's bid (Salvador Hills Open)

Please choose one option. You can abstain but you cannot re-open votes. Eligible voters are those who have roleplayed at least once during the current season (clay or outdoor hard court). Bidders may not vote. Puppets may not vote. Voting deadline is 0900 UTC on 13th July 2020. Send votes to The Computator.

Electrum wrote:...one less round in the doubles format...

Thank you for your question! Sorry for not clearing this out earlier. I missed the one less round for the doubles event. In this scenario, we'll have one singles round, followed by a doubles round and then again a lone singles round before we have simultaneous scorinations of both formats on the same MD. Hope that helped. Cheers!

Oh, also after talking with some users on discord about my bid, I made a few changes I forgot to announce here. There will be no degrading system, bonus will only be cumulative. Also, I will score the first round of doubles on the day that the second round of singles is, because doubles classically has 1 less round.

Results of the vote

Five votes were received, with an additional vote being rejected because it was submitted after the deadline (this late vote would not have changed the result). I should also note that I did not vote in this vote.

Mendez Bay Open received 2 votes.
Salvador Hills Open received 3 votes.

Therefore, Salvador Hills Open, Grearish Union will host the grass tier-2 tournament. Congratulations to The Grearish Union.

I have been impressed by the quality of both bids, so I have decided that both bidding tournaments will be on the NSTT next year.

I would like to congratulate the two newest winners of NSTT tournaments: Aqual and TJUN-ia. Your victories were great. I would also like to send my commiserations to The Andromeda Islands, whose roleplays I enjoyed very much.

Due to Ethane winning the Cup of Harmony hosting rights (congrats!), I've had to move Ethane's tournament until after the AOpen. So there will be a two week mid-season break in between the end of the Mercedini Open and the start of the AOpen.

Hey all, just a heads up that bids for the last two tournaments of the year will open now and close on 20 November, 1200 UTC.

The two tournaments (which will be held at the same time) are:

NSTT Finals - Our traditional end of year tournament comprised of the eight top ranked singles and doubles pairs. Round robin of two groups of four, with the top two in each group advancing to a knock-out.

Diamond Trophy - A new tournament comprised of nations who did not qualify for the NSTT Final, but had a good performance throughout the year (this is essentially our Cup of Harmony tournament, where nations who have roleplayed consistently will be given invitations). If a nation has a player(s) in the NSTT Finals, they will be ineligible in participating in the Diamond Trophy. Fifteen singles and doubles pairs as well as a singles/doubles pairing from the host nation will be invited for a round robin of four groups of four. Top two in each group advance to a knock-out.

You must bid to host both competitions at the same time (i.e. they are a package deal), but you can also choose to co-host with another nation (please ensure you have very similar cut-offs). Please put bids on this thread.

I'll be issuing Diamond Trophy invitations at the midway point of the ITT competition, so please get your roleplays in before then!

Calendar
1200 20 November - End of year tournaments host bidding closes
1200 20-23 November - Questioning period
1200 23-30 November - Host voting period

Just like to point out that the tournament is in Steinigestrasse itself and not in Ingbert-Borbely. I have added an image to reflect this.

Ack, I just realized that I had forgotten to set a date for votes in the Grand Slam awards (thanks to those who have already voted). I'm going to say that they'll be due at 2000 UTC on March 3, the same time when signups for the Electrum Slam close. Anyone who had a participating player in NSTT 6 -- even if it was only for a couple of tournaments -- can vote. Thanks!

When are the world rankings put in order? Currently, I have a technically ranked 248 player but he is still where he was on the google sheets when he was 594 ranked.

Electrum usually updates the points as the results are scorinated but doesn't sort the final results until the end of the tournament!

Wild cards - we give them to nations who would have no players in the main draw otherwise

As you may have noticed, I've taken a back burner with regards to tennis this year.

That said, I'm glad the grass Grand Slam is in safe hands, and I wish Mercedini all the best.
