The 2012 NLL season is the first since 2009 to finish a whole scedualed season with out having to cancel after the first few games. It has been for the past three seasons known that the NLL has struggled financially, with the rise and popularity of the National Soccer Association fans during those hot summer days have been split which to teams to watch and support, which has been the direct cause of the decline of the once powerful NLL. Founded in 1975 and playing it's first season in 1979 the NLL at one point between 1983 to 2001 the league had 36 teams, since then however though that has sharply declined.

National Soccer Association
Post Season report

The 2014 NSA season saw it's tenth consecutive rise in total TV viewership up 1.5% from 29.7 million from the season before, at the same time total attendance at games rose 6.7% from 786,000 from last season. Financially the league net profit for the year was WG45.9 million which decreased from last years total of WG46.1 million. Commissioner Lafayette says that the reason for the decrease in profit is that in July the NSA had to pay a 2.7 million dollar fine to the city of Port Salem which the league says was to avoid a costly lawsuit which the city said the NSA officials illegally under paid several officiating staff at Navy Yard matches over the past three years. The average ticket cost rose 18.3% from WG65 last year to WG77.15. The highest ticket costs were in Gemsbrook United which the cheapest tickets went for WG130, this many do blame for the steady drop in attendance at the United games. The cheapest tickets went for WG15, which were at New Haven who since joining the league three years ago have found little to no success.

Speaking of New Haven, many league officials believe if the ownership of the club doesn't do anything to both improve the performance of the team and look into the possibility of a new stadium the club will more likely be forced to move out of New Haven. The problems surrounding New Haven have been known for years, however though the call for the league to do something about it have only risen. Owner and founder Dave Fisher has for the past three seasons been ranked as the worst owner in the league, barely beating out Hilo Flipo of Gemsbrook United. Fisher since 2011 the clubs first season has only spent and estimated WG3.4 million on players and less then 1 million on the upkeep of the dilapidated Veterans Stadium, whos condition has only become worse. During the season section 8 in the south end partially collapsed due to the deteriorated state of the concert columns, the stadium which was built in 1929 has not been properly maintained since the New Haven A's of the PBL moved to Gemsbrook in 1976. For three years now the Vet as called by locals was voted by both, fans, players and coaches as the worst stadium conditions to play, coach and sit in. The pressure now is on for Fisher to improve the team and or stadium, or build a new stadium or else the league may have to intervene.

National Soccer Association gets new name
Image
(New logo)

Last week executives and club owners voted on a proposal to re-name the National Soccer Association to the National Premier Soccer League. The new NPSL will join more established domestic leagues with a promotion and regulation system, which means that the top X number of clubs from the second tier will be promoted to the top tier, while the same number of clubs that finished in the bottom of the top tier will be regulated down.

The second tier league will be named the National Soccer League, which will be comprised of twelve clubs in two conferences a few of the clubs have already been announced, SC Port Salem, East Lincoln Shock, Gem City, 70th Ave and Arlington Crew. These teams each season will be competing for the National Cup, while the clubs of the NPSL will be competing for the Premier Cup. The new re-branded league will begin play next season.

It was only five years ago when the NLL folded after years of bad management and financial fraud. In 2009 then Commissioner Dan Hugston announced that the NLL was officially folding after losing over WG 31.9 million between the years 2001 to 2008. At the worst the league downsized from a high of 56 teams to only six, even with the downsizing the leagues woes continued as they were forced to cancel the rest of the 2008 season after the first eight games had been played. The Port Salem Dolphins were crowned league champions despite not having any playoffs.

In early 2011 several Gemsbrook businessmen joined together in order to re-establish the historic league which started play in 1977. The league which is a continuation of the one that folded in 2009 started with only six teams of which were owned and operated by the league. Since 2011 the league has seen success not seen since the boom of the late 1980s and early 1990s, however this time around league officials will be more cautious when expanding the league. Current Commissioner Sammuel Xifiny says that the league is looking forward to expanding to 16 teams by next year. The franchises that will join are ones who are located in cities that in the past have shown heavy support for their teams.

The third season of the NPSL leagues has just ended and we are in between the time after those whose clubs will be trying to figure out what to do going into the next season, but for those sixteen clubs that played hard all season they will be getting ready for the playoffs. This season we saw Jasper City drop out of the playoffs for the first time since they joined the National Soccer Association five years ago, Manger Dale Thieson who was in his first season was sorely disappointed that the season ended the way it did, but with losing three top players to retirement he said the club had to rebuild.

"Look last season we lost three amazing players after they finally decided that it was time to hang up the cleats, our 11-6-11 record dose get at some people, but we only missed out by only one point. First year Gem City surprised many and showed that you don't need vast money to build a great team. Look forward to us next year we want back in and to win our third title."

National Sports TV released their new NPSL Cup odds this morning and there is no surprise who is at the top, but many questions for who is in the second spot:

Zomni City 8/10
Gem City 5/10
FC United 3/10
St. Johns United 1/10

We asked NSTV odds writer Jeff Allen to why the odds for Gem City are so high compared to FC United who last year won a record five titles.

"Well I think the main reason why Gem City is above FC is simply the fact of how well Gem did in the last few weeks of the season, they were sixth in the league then out of no where won eight in a row to push themselves to third in league standings and coasted to the playoffs. Chad Anderson manager for Gem City only is his second year has showed the nation what little money can do in building a club that can compete at the top level. FC has however shown this season that when to going gets tough they well wimp out and odds makers aren't very thrilled at this attitude that FC has taken on. I personally believe that FC will come out swinging and show everyone why they should never be counted out."

In NPSL news, President Wyane Shismel announced that starting this seasons playoffs every team that makes the playoffs will play in a 16 team playoff, no more three different league champions, there will just be one. However though each league will continue awarding their league shield titles.

Before we leave you, the New Haven club this season has scored 43 goals, the most in their five year history and according to new Manager Dennis Cais who was hired last year says he firmly believes that the football gods are looking down and showing pity towards New Haven.

All Womens Professional Volleyball League
Season 3

Even before the third AWPVL season could get underway the owners of the Willington Volleys, who last season were barred from the playoffs for using performance enhancing drugs, had announced the team will not be participating this season after 80% of their players still have a two season ban on them. The North Gem Diamonds franchise has suspended operations due to lack of monetary backing and heavily in debt to its creditors, the team who debuted last season ended $329,000 in debt and has yet to pay most of its players from last season. President Jane Fonds of the AWPVL says despite these two franchises being unable to play the league is still strong, but for its third season it will have to be played with just five teams.

However though reports do indicate that all is not well with the league as BNF Bank has reported that last season the league lost and estimated $892,900 and that that the average attendance for games dropped 14% down to 986 fans per-game. The title game which saw Ft. McCarney trump St. johns only had 1,577 fans in the stands that paid to enter, the league was forced to give out 3,000 tickets to ensure the title game was not blacked out.

National Lacrosse League
Season 34,

The thirty-ninth season of the NLL was very exciting as every year since the re-boot three seasons ago, Newhouse head coach Jim Ule was announce two weeks ago as he new head coach for Lacrosse WG, the national lacrosse team. The pick was not surprising in many circles as Newhouse has been the top tier team in the league and in the world. Cooach Ule said at the press conference:
"It has been nine years since West Guianan lacrosse players have shown they are able to accomplish anything at the World Lacrosse Championships. Max jino was a great coach his sudden passing more the seven years ago seemed to leave a heavy mark on all on the team. But it is time to say goodbye and build this team for the future, right now as I speak I have been evaluating all the players through out the league. Had I will announce the team that will appear in the next world championships."

Now Coach Ule refused to tell reporters which players he had selected.

Before the 2200 season the NLL saw it's largest increase in the number of teams since the 2175 season. Four new franchises were added, Zomni Gladiators, Aluresia Mafia, East Willington LC and Lacrosse Club FD. Out of this pool for their first season the Zomni Gladiators were the best team finishing 11th in the league with a 14-16 record. Easily the Lacrosse Club FD was the worst overall ended with only five wins.

Also this seaon saw the Animals winning the first ever La Huey Cup, given to the team with the most goals scored during the season. The Jino Cup is named after late Lacrosse WG coach Max La Huey.

The top players this season had a few new names and many old.
At the age of 31 Eric Throne who is the goal keeper for the Newhouse Animals once again showed that he is the best in the league and wouldn't surprise anyone if he landed on the roster for the national team, since Ule is his coach speculation is high. This season he started twenty-four games and allowed 231 goals beating out his closet rival Blake Burke of Port Salem by only four goals. Burke who is 26 is another name many have already added to their WLC rosters, however though according to reports Burke has long said that he'd like to play aboard for a few seasons and would be willing to play for their national squads.

The top Attackers this season was a open field many new names popped up but one stood out easily, twenty-eight year old Bashir Al-Vish of the Waverly Falcons. Though they did not make it into the playoffs, Bashir is on the radar for two reasons, the obvious the upcoming world championships and this season was the last on his current contract with Waverly. When he first signed at age twenty-four he was still unknown, and many were shocked that the heavily conservative city of Waverly signed a Muslim to their squad which during his first season did spark protests from the Baptist community and boycotting of Falcon games. However though four years latter he is seen as a hometown hero for giving the loyal fans something to cheer for. This season he scored 87 goals and his next contract could be worth up to $4.1 million.

Another attacker is rookie Bill Bradley who last year signed a three year $878,000 deal with the Port Salem Dolhpins, he left college early in attempt to sign on with a top NLL team. He was a high valued prospect last year how wasn't the rookie with the biggest contract vaule, that went to Xi Jong midfielder who like Bradley is also twenty-three. Xi signed a four year $1.1 million contract with the New Haven Hamsters, and at mid field he showed that the Hamsters weren't deluded with his value, one of his many highlights of the season is with seconds left on the clock he chocked the ball towards the Bolts goal and some how it went in giving the Hamsters the victory. But Xi has said if the Hamsters are willing to accept a buy out he'd love to play internationally.
