Copa Rushmori 16 - Everything Thread

Welcome to Charruterra! We seem to somehow have won the hosting rights of the Copa Rushmori. How, exactly? We don't really know. However, we can say we'll do the best possible to make it pseudoprofessional. Maybe. Nah, not really. Nonetheless, enjoy your stay.

Hosting Experience

AOCAF Cup 38
Campionato Esportiva V
U-15 World Cups 1 and 4
Friendly Cup 5

Scorination

NSFS. Not much else to say here.

Tournament Format

Well, I'm aiming for the traditional 32-team group stage. I'm willing to accept or retire puppets (with user permission for the latter) to reach it. Otherwise, I'll have to work my way around the amount of teams. If there is a very, very awkward amount of teams, though, I'll be looking towards filling spots for the sake of a better format.

Tiebreakers

Points
Head to head points
Head to head goal difference
Goal Difference
Play-off Match (ICly, Coin Flip)

RP

The rating will range from 0-3, with, as has been said by just about everyone who's ever hosted something, quality being more important than quantity. The bonus will be cumulative.

Ranks

I'll use them. I've always liked the tradition of the CR (no Rankings), but this time around I want to give the rankings some continuity after being used last time around. All these provided they are actually updated.

Why should I even consider this bid?

Well, I'm planning to add some RPing opportunities (which you guys can ignore, obviously, as Charruterra is a very weird nation). I can even come up with fancy colours for the winning teams and all! But, seriously, I can make it a bit more enjoyable, like I did in the AOCAF Cup I hosted. Charruterra is overall a very insane nation, so for those looking for an adventure, it might as well be your opportunity.

Charruterran Roster for Copa Rushmori 16

Manager: Saguaqué Caraí (48 Years Old)
Style: +2

Charruterra is now facing the upbringing of a whole new generation of bright (in the loosest sense of the word) footballers, having recently won the Sub-17 in Alitaba. Most of the players that were part of that squad have managed to break through, like Júrja Mahí, Ijí Rungajé (the best player of that tournament) and Royán Raham, who are even starters now. The team is still very attacking, but has retreated a bit from kamikaze attacking to pretty attacking. Canamazán Fajú and Adeltú Cohújaan will still lead the team, as they're among the most talented players Charruterra has to offer to the world. Needless to say that the Charruterrans will actually have some pressure to perform well now that they're at their home. Most want them to win the Copa Rushmori, but not many people know that's very unlikely. Monsió Darmafá, the striker that is tired of scoring for Pacahocaf in the Charruterran league, is the player the most likely to score for the Charruterrans. It's also notable that the Asociación has finally decided to have an actual manager.

Kits
Designed and produced by Barrengeka, Astograth
The team is not likely to use the away kit for this edition, as they're hosts.
Your team will inevitably have to use their away kits, unless they're also
pretty similar, which means you've thoroughly failed at choosing kits.

Manager: Morten Rasmussen, 59
Record in Charge: P 85, W 67, D 11, L 7, GF 163, GA 59, GD +104, WP 79%
He nearly did it again. For the second time in Terns history, we submit a team to the Copa Rushmori having lost in the final of the World Cup. Former FC Axel Heiburg boss Morten Rasmussen took over at the helm of the Terns, and after building on solid foundations he did what no other Terns manager has done and reached the World Cup final. Twice. Two of his seven defeats in charge of the Terns have been in the World Cup final. Twice they've come close, and twice they've picked themselves back up again. The last time they did that, he picked a team full of youthful promise and they went on to win the Copa Rushmori against fierce rivals Sargossa in the final, becoming the first team to have ever won it on three occasions, and breaking records in the process. Finding themselves in a repeated scenario, they'll be out to repeat the way they bounced back previously and retain their title in Charruterra. Last time around, he picked a youthful team and rested several big names from selection, believing it would give the more established names a kick up the backside. It was a tactic that so nearly worked, but he has his hands tied this time, as Sudesval, Petersen, Oyen-Spekke, and the talismanic Alexsandr van Sorensen have al now retired from international duty following the defeat in Fligsive. This leaves gaps that need filling, and he's brought a strong squad aside from these spots so as to fully test his options ahead of World Cup 67. The only big name to stay in the Federation is Marten Cornelius, nursing a thigh strain, and central defenders Elden and Lucic, both of whom have seen their spots in the squad go to younger faces.

Assistant Manager: Steffan Pekarik, 47
Steffan Pekarik is a player who knows what it takes to succeed. Holding 141 caps for the Terns and appearing for East Franz Athletic and KagPaz club Urajbina, he later joined Axel Heiburg and was their first ever title lifting captain in his last ever season of professional playing, all under Morten Rasmussen's guidance. He then went straight into the coaching set-up at the Argonauts and was the assistant manager by the time Jorgen Hauge lifted the title three seasons later. Upon Rasmussen's job offer at the Terns, Pekarik was swiftly whisked across as well, and it is thought that the inspirational and dynamic former left-back with the talent for man-management is being trained and prepared for a crack at a big management job himself in the future. Has taken two World Cup final defeats rather worse than most have done, giving a meaner streak in team talks and even more determination to win.

PLAYERS:
#1 - GK - Iulian Kirilaunen - Age 24 - Image FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls Image - 37 Caps
Kirilaunen was handed the number one jersey at Surtsey a while ago now, repaying the confidence shown in him almost immediately by producing some outstanding performances to help the Gulls exceed all expectations. Twenty-five years old is very young for a goalkeeper who appears to represent his national team as the number one with as much calmness and authority as he does, but you tend to forget this during the match as your eyes are instead drawn to his constantly good positioning and organisation of his back four. Despite his closest rival for the number one jersey winning the Champions' Cup, Iulian still holds onto it. There's a good reason for this, and his speed off his line when acting as a sweeper-keeper will no doubt save the day on the rare occasions the speedy and mobile defence in front of him gets caught flat-footed.

#2 - DR - Moses Luc Bjerregaard - Age 18 - Image Royal Rumiatzi (ASG) Image - 18 Caps, 8 Assists, 1 Goal
At the last Copa, at just seventeen years of age, Bjerregaard was the youngest player to get a call-up to the Terns squad since Alexsandr van Sorensen, and it's not hard to see why. Still only on the verge of his nineteenth birthday, he is lightning fast, fearless, with a wicked control of a dead ball, and the willingness to run at players, Bjerregaard has all the credentials required to be a fine right winger. However, when you add a tough tackle, the ability to read the game, and a keen positional sense into the equation, it's easy to see why Bjerregaard can make such a devastating wing-back. Hence, he is perfect for Rasmussen's formation. His stamina and strength in the air can still leave something to be desired, but he's still young, and coming off the back of some stunning performances at the Copa and the World Cup, appearing in both finals, he was snapped up by Astograthian giants Royal Rumiatzi. It's a big step up in terms of hype, and he is carrying a lot of momentum with an awful lot of buzz. An exciting prospect.

#3 - DC - Aapo Nordenberg - Age 24 -Image East Franz Athletic Image - 5 Caps
Oyen-Spekke's retirement leaves a gap at centre-back, and a gap that Rasmussen could have filled with one of the players who were on the bench for the World Cup campaign. Instead, he's opted for the player who was brought from FC Torshavn to East Franz Athletic to replace Oyen-Spekke there as well. Nordenberg has previously found it easy to slip under the radar and avoid the hype, though at East Franz his quietly impressive performances are starting to change that. Quiet, considered, and a scholar of the game, his game reading is excellent, meaning he is often able to make a challenge and prevent a dangerous situation before it even materialises. This lack of eye-catching last minute tackles contributes towards his relatively low-key profile, of course, though are also indicative of his ability to stop them being necessary in the first place. Tall, strong, and with a fine touch, Nordenberg is one of the ball-playing central defenders that are now becoming the vogue around the leagues. Missed out on the World Cup squad, and now has the chance to show why he should be in the next one.

#4 - DC - David Wien - Age 28 - Image Jan Mayen Islanders Image - 59 Caps, 1 Assist, 5 Goals - Vice-Captain
Thanks to Jan Mayen Islanders' partnership with Liventian team Caernville Seahawks, Wien had already accumulated a significant amount of first team experience by the time he broke into the Jan Mayen first team; experience that also set him up well as he moved from the u-21s side into the full international side and then the starting line-up. His leadership and positional knowledge is already at an advanced stage, and his popularity with the other players in the side is noticeable to all. Pencilled in by some in the media as a possible future captain of both club and country, he walks the fine line between being popular and being a leader like an expert, something he exhibited to great effect as Jan Mayen unexpectedly lifted the last Divisjon One title.

#5 - DL - Kohev Küngas-Vaga - Age 28 - Image Northbrook Diamonds FK Image - 122 Caps, 22 Assists, 11 Goals - CAPTAIN
Impressed as the u-21s captain despite going out in the group stages of the DBC under his watch, this defender is well known and trusted by the management team and he has now taken the armband in the absence of Alexsandr van Sorensen. Kohev is a combative and battling left-back, though he is a talented centre back and defensive midfielder as well, and this enthusiasm and adaptability is something that Rasmussen will be able to make good use of. Originally moving to the first team as a result of Edvar Folke's previous hamstring tear, his athleticism was called upon to offer support and attacks from down the left side, and he later ousted the SK defender from the starting XI entirely. One of the youngest players to ever move past a hundred caps for his country, he found the final defeats particularly hard to take, and he will be working hard to try and lift the Copa trophy again this time around as a way of dealing with the pain.

#6 - DMC - Eikr Lillehammer - Age 25 - Image SK Aasiaat Harbour Image - 35 Caps, 1 Assist, 2 Goals
Eikr Lillehammer was never even in contention for an u-21s berth in his youth, and indeed he was let go by the Northbrook Academy without much fanfare and picked up by AFK Hans Island Pioneers. Performances there lead SK Aasiaat Harbour to purchase his services a few seasons ago, and by the end of his first year there he’d very much played his way into being one of the first names on the team sheet. With a battling mentality and a new-found confidence, Eikr is flying, and Rasmussen had an easy decision when it came to deciding who was going to replace Sudesval in the starting line-up. Impressed in the World Cup when he came on, one of the factors that convinced Sudesval the time was right to move on. One for the future, the one that got away for Northbrook, definitely, and a potential captain himself.

#7 - MC - Jean-Eric Villeneuve - Age 27 - Image Northbrook Diamonds FK Image - 86 Caps, 39 Assists, 12 Goals
Moving back to Northbrook from Cap Nordique in Cotdelapoms, Villeneuve is a creative attacking midfielder in the same mould as Lepka and Demarchelier and, like the latter, he hails from the Rochefroides community of Ellismare. Fluent in five languages, he is incredibly intelligent as far as footballers go, and his range of passing and vision on the pitch is evidence of this. Not the fastest player to have ever hit the turf, he lets the football do all the hard work for him, which can lead to his apparent lack of effort being an easy target for disgruntled fans is results aren't going so well. Fortunately, with Jean-Eric in the side, this is rarely the case, and with the help of Rasmussen and Pekarik's encouragement, even the pace and athleticism is still improving, with his performance in the World Cup final against Eura being particular impressive, and perhaps a watershed moment in his career. Also, how is he still only twenty-seven? He's at the height of his game right now, and that's potentially terrifying for the opposition.

#8 - MC - Jorgen Kirvesniemi - Age 26 - Image Fontvielle Impact (VLD) Image - 49 Caps, 5 Assists, 4 Goals
Appearing regularly in the top flight for Rapid Jan Mayen and then later in Divisjon Two, his signing by Red Star Severny was seen another step in the young midfielder's development; not to mention being a decision that brought him to the attentions of first van der Riise, then Rasmussen, and then the Valladar giants of Fontvielle Impact. He has it all in his locker, and can twist and turn out of danger or provide a battling block as necessary. He can inspire and rifle in assists, or he can sit back and dictate play. Unwilling to let him become a positional expert, the coaches let him add to his arsenal of overall talents, a decision that is paying off now. Could be a world-great in the future if he gets a run at the first team - another Hansen or Bielsen in the making - so this injury to Cornelius gives him the opportunity he needs to crack on and really make a name for himself.

#9 - ST - Gustaf Kolehmainen - Age 26 - Image FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls Image - 44 Caps, 4 Assists, 30 Goals
With a vicious right boot and a desire to succeed, Gustaf Kolehmainen is perhaps the player upon whom Surtsey have built their recent success. Has scored thirty goals for the Terns so far, and has been widely lauded for his performances in which he has utilised his broad range of talents, fitting into whatever formation he is required to do so. In particular, his performances at the World Cup saw him net a hugely impressive nine times in just seven matches under the most intense pressure possible, scoring more in the finals than he did in qualifying. He can lead the line, he can support it, he can poach, he can hit screamers, he's strong, he's fast, he's two footed, he's strong in the air; he's the perfect all round striker, and he's solely focused on scoring more for the Terns. He was the inspirational presence up front time after time as the Terns won the Copa Rushmori again, and Rasmussen will be relying on the enigmatic Kolehmainen to repeat that dynamism in the search for another trophy.

#10 - AMC - Alexis Zeljeznicar - Age 24 - Image Ituraitz FC (ASG) Image - 29 Caps, 6 Assists, 4 Goals
After starting out for South Factory courtesy of their Polarian connections, Zeljeznicar was snapped up by the famous Ituraitz FC when South Factory were relegated. Like Bosnjakovic and of similar age, he is also a former striker that has since retreated to a more supporting role, reminiscent of another certain Tern that you may have heard of. And whom Zeljeznicar is taking a shirt number from. Sigh. Pacy, aggressive, a handful in the box for both sets of players, and wickedly talented, if he could only stop basing his lifestyle of Timo Skye's he could be very good indeed, though his critics will continue to argue that he doesn't get enough assists. Nonetheless, he is visibly calming down recently, and appears to be learning some good things from his colleagues at Ituraitz. Time will tell if he can come close to replacing van Sorensen, but they are huge shoes to fill, and we will have to be patient.

#11 - ST - Felix Saarinen - Age 31 - Image East Franz Athletic Image - 91 Caps, 8 Assists, 50 Goals
With a series of hugely impressive performances in the Federation League, Saarinen's partnership up front with Kvitchenko saw the Polarian duo become one of the most feared partnerships in the league. He is fast and nimble, and yet is able to command a lone striker position if necessary, and Kvitchenko's international retirement allowed his team-mate a continued shot in the starting line-up just as he is hitting his peak condition. A tall and dangerous figure in the box, his resilient pace late on will torment tired legs, and this will surely see him make an impact as he aims to improve his impressive goal ratio yet again now that he has reached fifty for his country. He and Kolehmainen are starting to develop an almost telepathic relationship, and we will surely see the benefits of his apparent refusal to take a rest from the side when offered by Pekarik.

#12 - GK - Artemiusz Korzhanenko - Age 28 - Image SK Franz Josef City Image - 44 Caps
Known for his strong performances whilst with the u-21s, Korzhanenko is nigh on unbeatable when running out for the ball in the box. He also has a great record in penalty shoot outs, and you never know when that might come in handy. Whilst he has lost the number one jersey to Kirilaunen over the course of the last few cycles, Korzhanenko is the consummate professional, and you won't see him causing a fuss from the bench. A great calming presence to have in the locker room, and now a Champions' Cup winner too.

#13 - GK - Alexis Sand - Age 26 - Image Iturributa United (ITB) Image - 9 Caps
Just as he was making his breakthrough at Red Star, Alexis Sand was whisked away by former Severny hero and now Iturributa United manager Petter Bielsen to make his name on the Goose Coast. With a decent stretch and a firm punch, he'll do well when defending set pieces in the box, and his reflexes are second to none. There have been some concerns raised over his tendency to stay on his line when a sweeper-keeper approach might be more appropriate, but he is young for a goalkeeper, yet and it is not difficult to see why he was snapped up by the Iturributan giants.

#14 - AMC - Linus Bosnjakovic - Age 25 - Image Olympique de Fontvielle (VLD) Image - 33 Caps, 7 Assists, 5 Goals
Moving back to RSK after a season spent on loan at Solovetsky Monastery re-energised this former striker, and, since it emerged he now prefers to operate behind the main strikers he has had his services acquired by Olympique de Fontvielle. He can spread the balls around at will, and he brings a one-touch one-two kind of speed and urgency around the box that the Terns aren't normally used to seeing. He'll certainly be a useful tool in Rasmussen's box of tricks, and he hasn't forgotten his striking instincts, either - just watch out for his fizzing shots given the time on the ball. He had an outstanding start to his Terns career with two assists and a goal in five matches, and he'll be determined to oust Zeljeznicar from the pecking order given half a chance.

#15 - DL - Fabian Vaaraniemi - Age 25 - Image FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla Image - 36 Caps, 4 Assists, 1 Goal
A hugely impressive series of performances in Divisjon One has seen this fleet of foot left back from the Flotilla make the spot on the bench for the Terns his own. Lightning fast and with a hefty amount of momentum given the chance to run, he will be hard to stop late on in games should he come on. Finally got his first goal with one of his trademark stinging free kicks, and when faced with an intensely defensive opponent, I wouldn't be surprised to see Rasmussen move Kungas-Vaga to defensive midfield and have Vaaraniemi on the pitch just to utilise his dead ball skills when near the opposition box. Intensely loyal to the Flotilla despite undoubtedly having the quality to strut his stuff for a CC-qualifying team, he is a noble player with a strong sense of fair play and absolutely deserves his affectionate nickname of 'Sir Fabian'.

#16 - DR - Alexis St Olaf - Age 26 - Image FC Axel Heiburg Image - 8 Caps
Rasmussen unearthed something of a gem when he found St Olaf. Well known to Argonauts fans, his efforts had thus far eluded the attentions of the more international eye. Until his domestic manager became his national manager. Fluent at playing on both flanks, it was Rasmussen himself who discovered Alexis St Olaf in the 'out tray' of the Haapa-Mechelin Academy and brought him back into the youth set-up, retraining him from a winger to a wing-back in the process, the same process current first-choice Bjerregaard has gone through just recently. Given the presence of Vaaraniemi in the squad it is likely we will only see St Olaf operating on the right this tournament, though in an emergency this versatile youngster can play pretty much anywhere but up front.

#17 - DMC - Anders Holzhauser - Age 20 - Image Issington FC (APX) Image - 5 Caps
Came straight from the DBC to feature at the last Copa Rushmori, and does so again along with Bjerregaard on this occasion, Holzhauser is a strong and tough-tackling defensive midfielder that has made quite an impact on the watching Rasmussen. With a commanding presence, he quickly grabs the eye as he marshals the defence behind him, and though he is able to fill in at centre back should he be required to, Holzhauser has the urge and the ability to push forwards in possession of the ball and add a different dimension to the attack in the process. Exciting at Issington FC, and dominating as the Chicks captain, his Terns chapter is now beginning to unfold.

#18 - ST - Vasek Frederiksen - Age 23 - Image Dinamo Esca (MYT) Image - 14 Caps, 1 Assist, 4 Goals
One of several uncapped players in the last Copa Rushmori squad, Vasek Frederiksen did enough on the way to the final of that tournament to convince Rasmussen that he deserved the spot in the World Cup squad. He's enjoying the warm glow of a Mytanar tan these days having moved to Esca from Torshavn, and is now showing the benefits of experiencing the highly competitive Mytanar top flight. Tall and lanky, he's surprisingly good with his touch for a big man, and his gangly presence often belies his deadliness in the box. Has a focused and naturally solitary demeanour that can come across as anti-social and aggressive, but on the pitch this frequently counts as a good thing, and you can bet he is focused solely on scoring for the Terns.

#19 - MC - Guus Olsen - Age 27 - Image FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls Image - Uncapped
It's not often that a player manages to play himself into contention for a Terns position so comparatively late in his career, but the box-to-box exploits of Olsen have done just that for the Surtsey midfielder. Going from strength to strength in a midfield that one the Divisjon One title, Olsen stood out for his work-rate and his willingness to dive in a effectively sacrifice his body to the cause, taking several hard shots to the face over the course of the season. He is gritty, determined, and publicly shy, deciding to let his football do the talking instead. Short for a Polarian, he is able to use his lower centre of gravity to great effect in the Polarian league. Quite how he'll cope with playing against more players his own height in the Copa is something we'll just have to find out together. I suspect he'll do just fine, whether its fighting for possession, arriving late in the box to smash one in, or keeping the ball under pressure.

#20 - ST - Torsten Wolff - Age 23 - Image Sporting Iturributa (ITB) Image - 4 Caps, 1 Goal
Having made a good impression with the u-21s, Wolff is currently enjoying the plaudits following another fine domestic season, this time at Sporting Iturributa firing goals past his Terns teammate Sand. With an easy-going nature, his partnership with Frederiksen at the DBC had a distinct air of the odd-couple about it, but it nonetheless worked well, and his keen eye for the top corner of the goal from wherever he is in the box has made him a fan favourite. He'll be looking to come and cause some damage from the bench at this tournament, and yes, he's heard all the wolf jokes already.

#21 - MC - Svenbjorn Einarsson - Age 24 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë (FFD) Image - 19 Caps, 3 Assists, 2 Goals
Red Star are making a habit of producing impressive midfielders recently, and their management will be frustrated that Einarsson is another one that they've allowed to slip away through their fingers - in Svenbjorn's case, to Farfadillis, where his experience has seen him drop the "defensive" prefix from his job title and start adding goals and assists (not to mention player awards) to his game. Strong and acutely accurate with his passing, Einarsson is included as a near enough direct replacement for either Kirvesniemi or Villeneuve should either get injured. Having impressed at the last Copa and in World Cup qualifying, it is likely we will see plenty of Einarsson before the tournament is over, and his youthful energy and willingness to chase any seemingly lost cause could change a game late on. Though, questions remain over his ability to stay calm when provoked.

#22 - DC - Morten Salo - Age 25 - Image Echegoyan FC (ASG) Image - 15 Caps, 1 Goal
Blunt, abrasive, and aggressive; Salo is anything but the life and soul of a party. Not that this matters in central defence, of course, and whilst he will be the first to admit his fondness for hoofing the ball out of danger as soon as possible, this can sometimes be the appropriate response. With a sly elbow here and there, Salo is the master of getting away with little fouls when the officials aren't looking, and he can often be seen arguing on the pitch with his teammates, opposition strikers, the match officials, and even his own management team. He only does this because he has the team's best interests at heart however, and he is a keen team player; always being relied upon to give his all for his team, something his teammates at Echegoyan no doubt appreciate. You want him with you rather than against you, that's for sure.

#23 - DC - Soren Rovanpera - Age 28 - Image FC Axel Heiburg Image - 43 Caps, 1 Assist, 2 Goals
As a multiple title-winning defender with the formidable 'Golden Generation' of FC Axel Heiburg, Soren Rovanpera is well known to Rasmussen from his time there. Wise beyond his years, Soren is capable of marking even the very best players out of the game on his day, and he can frustrate and torment like a pro, teasing more than one volatile striker into a sending off in his time. Was once a regular in the Terns line-up before falling out of favour, he has now been called up to prove he has what it takes to keep Elden and Lucic out of the squad on a more permanent basis.

TACTICS: "The Pythagorean" 2-3-3-2
The Polarian game is fast, quick, and physical. They won't give you a second on the ball to think, and they won't hold back in the tackle. In the centre of the park they will play a possession based midfield game of triangles, though a defence splitting pass could come at any moment towards the fast and direct attack. Rasmussen plays a narrow and heavily modified diamond formation dubbed the Pythagorean by the sporting press. It is reliant upon two key triangular sets of players that transcend the normal "rows" of player in conventional formation layouts. Nordenberg, Wien, and Lillehammer will act as the defensive triangle, and Zeljeznicar, Saarinen, and Kolehmainen will counter at the other end as the offensive triangle. Lillehammer and Zeljeznicar's roles in this scheme are absolutely crucial, as their job is to support and unlock the other two players in their respective triangles, providing outlets and creativity in abundance. Villeneuve and Kirvesniemi are part of a compact and creative midfield that will supply steel or style whenever the situation demands it, as well as partnering up with their respective full backs to form a kind of "bumper" that sweeps the flanks in attack or folds in to protect the penalty area in defence. Fitness of all players will therefore be key to the success of this plan; not just the constant positional changing demanded of Lillehammer and Zeljeznicar, but the athleticism of Bjerregaard and Küngas-Vaga in particular will also be tested to the limit as their roles require frequent attacking. It's not quite a 4-3-3, it's not quite a 4-1-2-1-2, and it's not quite a W-M... Alright, alright, it's more or less a W-M with a focus on two specific trios of players. It's the Pythagorean.

MANAGERIAL STAFF
Manager: Alexandre Giroux
What can you really say. Giroux managed a perfect qualifying campaign and in all ways should have made it to the world cup. But thanks to only one loss and a tie the team was knocked out on GD. Then he followed it with a semi-decent run at the cup of harmony. Now back in action at the Copa Rushmori many hope he can continue the success the Taes have had in this tournament by making a 3rd semi final appearance in their 4th attempt.

Assistant Manager: Gwyn Juniper
Perhaps the 2nd greatest player in Taeshani history, Juniper continues to follow the tutelage of another former player in Giroux. Everyone knows Juniper will take over when Giroux is done, but it could be many a season until Giroux does so. In the meanwhile Juniper is still playing for Bayern and will continue to do so until he feels ready to retire. After all it is a hard job to quick.

GOALKEEPERS

1 - Logan Watson - X Island Marauders 7 Caps, 26 Years Old
Finally getting his chance to start will be long time backup Logan Watson, who is normally the third keeper for the full national team and the second for the B squad. With Joe Jackson being moved up to full time starter on the national team the spotlight is all on the former U 21 star.

23 - Dale Smoker - Capetown Croc's 0 Caps, 28 Years Old
The now backup keeper for the B team is Dale Smoker a long time stud for Capetown who will most likely never see the field.

24 - Nick Garden- Real Atlantea 0 Caps, 22 Years Old
Only a season removed from his last U21 tournament Garden will get to learn under to very good national team members in this and future tournaments. Sadly for him the starting A team member is only a year older than him so his future with the team is not good looking.

DEFENDERS

2 - LB, Eddie Styles - Mt Ceabring Thunder 59 Caps, 1 Goal, 29 Years Old
Back for more is the workhorse on the wings Eddie Styles. Once again voted vice-captain by the players, Styles will look to lead through his actions and hopefully continue the long standing Taeshani defensive tradition.

3 - CB, Grant Wetter - Aasiaat Harbour (Polar Islandstates) 48 Caps, 29 Years Old
With a poise and strength many did not see in him before Wetter has begun to at least compete in the Polarian premiership, hopefully that will transmit to the upcoming Copa hopes for Taeshan.

4 - CB, Tyler Smyth - Atlantea Hurricanes 17 Caps, 29 Years Old
The other center back in the tournament will be played by the equally strong Tyler Smyth who has many a time helped his club site to decisive victory. His hopes of making the A national team continue to dwindle but a strong tournament could put his name back in the ring.

5 - RB, Gloria Walters - Gilley FC (Saugeais) 41 Caps, 29 Years Old
At right back is the fourth of the 29ers. Still plying her trade in Saugeais even though her team was relegated, she has found a home in Gilley and even when it was suggested that their may be greener pastures she stayed around. Wonder what that was about?

17 - Max Toledo - Mt Ceabring Thunder 3 Cap, 25 Years Old
The first of the untested backups is the young center back Max Toledo who will hopefully get a lot of action if the offense can score some goals and get some late garbage time against some international level players.

19 - Tyler Provyay - Knightspurs 2 Caps, 26 years Old
Provyay has recently transitioned from a wingback to a full time center back thanks to the gruesome injury he went before the last Copa Rushmori. Hopefully he will also get some action at the spot and prove his worth.

21 - Flynn Partker - Fadron Flight 3 Caps, 25 Years Old
The lone fullback on the backups list is Flynn Parker who many see as being the successor to Peter Fasnacht on the right side of the back four. He continues to develop well and hopefully he will be getting some time as well.

MIDFIELDERS

6 - LM, George Klose - Atlantea Hurricanes 10 Caps, 1 Goal, 29 Years Old
There was nothing cooler in the last Copa Rushmori then seeing longtime Atlantea starter George Klose score for the first time in the national team jersey. Many hope he can continue to do that and perhaps get a few spot actions for the A national team.

7 - RM, Grant Fauejeau - Fadron Flight 4 Caps, 23 Years Old
One of the three new starters on the team, and the youngest player starting will be the right midfielder from Fadron who has two standout seasons in a row and strongly contested for the spot and eventually with Jeremi Krieder pulling out of the team late due to family concerns he gets the spot on the right side of midfield.

8 - CM, Karl Llana - Bayern-Algaer 6 Caps, 25 Years Old
In the center midfield will also be a person getting his first action at starting in Karl Llana. With a strong right foot and and an almost as strong head Llana is a big fan favorite and a likely player for the A squad sooner rather than later.

9 - CAM, Ender Wiggin - Nautico (Whirl Islands) 185 Caps, 100 Goals, 30 Years OldCAPTAIN
What can we really say about Ender Wiggin that hasn't already been said? A strong all around player, the star of Taeshan right now and a likely future hall of famer Wiggin is the center of attention and he should be.

12 - Adain Nostradamus - Ojian Orangemen 2 Caps, 24 Years Old
Ojian may be in a rut this season but their stud midfielder is not. Nostradamus had five early season goals and as many assists and is leading their charge out of the depths of the Premier league.

15 - Jansen Cardinal - FC Tenacity 0 Caps, 24 Years Old
One of the brand spanking new members of the team is a former u21 player in Jansen Cardinal. One of the few bright sparks recently for second division Tenacity he is likely to head abroad soon or find a better club team if any are interested.

16 - A.J. Bouveiau - Fadron Flight 0 Caps, 22 Years Old
As not surprising as it is to have Jansen Cardinal added to the squad it is even less so that A.J. was added. The captain in the most recent Di Bradini cup and really the star of their team Bouveiau is a strong midfield option and has many tools.

18 - Lysander Ying Uing - Bayern Phoenix 3 Caps, 18 Years Old
Lets not mince words, Ying Uing is synonymous with Taeshani soccer. To see a son of the legend of Taeshani soccer join the national team is a great thing for the Purple Knights. For a second tournament he has been called in. Many wonder when he will be unleashed, his 3 cameos last tournament were very short lived and many expect him to get some real action this tournament.

22 - Alain Von Bois - Yaton FC, 0 Caps, 22 Years Old
Also in the ranks of the backups will be another former u21er in the 22 year old Yaton attacking midfielder Von Bois. He is likely no to get many looks but he is well in form so he may give a few surprises.

STRIKERS

10 - LS, Skylar Crane - Mt Ceabring Thunder 27 Caps, 4 Goals, 27 Years Old
Many were expecting the duo from MT Ceabring to continue their attacking prowess on the national team, but Kyle Laravy has been scratched off of the B team to concentrate on the A team, which is ridiculous, but Crane will surely work well with his new partner.

11 - RS, Tyler Pantoum - Goidelic (Ancharmunn) 35 Caps, 15 Goals, 22 Years Old
That partner will be the person who has fastly risen to above 35 caps, and made it to 15 goals. The things Ender Wiggin was expected to do, Tyler Pantoum has done. He's got the games, the scores and might well break all of Ying Uings record by sheer games played.

13 - Farley Baines - Mt Ceabring Thunder 1 Caps, 24 Years Old
The second striker from Mt Ceabring this year will be Baines has one cap to his name.

14 - Gregory Fawkes - Real Chinchinhua 7 Caps, 3 Goals, 25 Years Old
Fawkes has had a rather impressive form for the national team, 3 goals in 7 games. Almost 50 percent. Hopefully he will be used, cause he has been good in the purple and gold.

20 - Liam Crane - Sleepy Hollow 0 Caps, 27 Years Old
For the first time in over 40 years brothers will be playing together on the national team, and twins no less. Liam is the older brother by five minutes, yet he has always been in the shadow. But with the recent scoring prowess of his club team his name has quickly vaulted to the mouths of those all around Taeshan and here he is now.

Formation 4-3-1-2

Mytanar National Team.

Image

Manager - Marius Sadowsky - 53 - Mytannion.
Sadowsky is one of the most successful Mytanar managers, he has won a Cup of Harmony with the national side, the most important success the nation has ever had in football. He took the team to the Round of Sixteen in the last World Cup, with a highly successful qualifying run and an excellent showing in the Group Stage of the World Cup proper. Sadowsky's heralded the change from efficient, counter-attacking football to a more offensive style where the team presses across the pitch and moves the ball forward quickly when it is in their possession. It results in moves which the opposition cannot deal with as the ball is just moved at such speed that defenders do not have time to position themselves properly to prevent goals/clear-cut chances. Sadowsky is fairly astute tactically and does work well with what he has got, given the Hoops' good seeding this year and a decent qualifying group, could it finally be the chance for something more than a place in the Round of Sixteen?

Starting XI.
#1 - GK - Stefan Wallinaar - 26 - Liria Prizren - 15 caps.
With the lack of an experienced goalkeeper following the retirement from international football of Demy de Zooijt, Stefan Wallinaar is the nearest to an experienced goalkeeper that the national team has. Kondrat Istomin has a bit more experience but he isn't considered a top bracket goalkeeper anymore, with both his age (which is perhaps irrelevant when it comes to goalkeepers), and his performances for his domestic side calling his position within the national team set-up into question, especially with some good goalkeepers coming through. Wallinaar is a two-time Globe Cup winner with club side Liria Prizren and his acrobatic performances between the sticks for them have finally earned him the starting gig here.

#2 - DL - Lev Repin - 32 - FC Ararat Severyan - 122 caps, 10 goals - Captain.
One of the most reliable defenders you will ever meet, he doesn't make many mistakes and this is evidenced by the amount of appearances he has made for the international side and the enormous number he has made for his club team too. He's tough and no-nonsense, getting the job done and giving his all for the team. He has top fitness levels and still shows a desire to bomb on down the wing and provide another option going forward with his pinpoint crossing. He's always a danger from set pieces because of this ability, both when crossing and shooting. He's still keeping Rob Fridrich out of a place in the national side and he could do so until the end of the younger man's career, if he keeps going at the rate he is doing.

#3 - DC - Narek Berozhserkovsky - 27 - Dinamo Esca - 70 caps, 5 goals.
Berozhserkovsky has to be considered one of the better centre backs in the world right now, in the prime of his career and still improving on his top class performances that have been made consistently for years. Questions surrounding a possible move away from Dinamo have been cooled dramatically recently although there is always the rumour in the air that he may fancy a move to the Polar Islandstates. He certainly has the ability to ply his trade outside the Mytanar Top League, his physical attributes combining well with exceptional tactical awareness, aerial ability and tackling. Could be given the captain's armband once Repin retires.

#4 - DC - Tim Dalgaard - 24 - Arka Snezhnaya - 19 caps, 1 goal.
Dalgaard has developed brilliantly over the years. He's now one of the top players in Mytannion and therefore the world too and he will combine beautifully with Narek Berozhserkovsky in the national team set-up to make a top class defensive partnership that any national team will find difficult to breakdown. Dalgaard is a tall centre back, again showing top level tactical awareness and good anticipation so he can read the game and work out where the ball will be. He breaks the play up and is one of the new breed of ball-playing centre backs, his passing is good and he can set-up play right from the back, often playing diagonal balls to the wing players in order to get the ball forward quickly, working well with the tactic employed by this side.

#5 - DR - Dennis Adkvissen - 31 - SK Aasiaat Harbour (Polar Islandstates) - 135 caps, 5 goals.
Already a legend in terms of Mytanar football and he still has a good couple of World Cups in him, he could easily surpass the record total for national team appearances set by the legendary Robin Hjik. Adkvissen is a good defensively. He deals with any attacking threat from the opponent quite solidly, his tackling is good and he uses his pace to good effect to keep up with quick wingers. He doesn't offer too much going forwards - though his crosses from deep are effective and he's decent from set pieces too - his footballing intelligence is one of the best and he anticipates the play well. His physical attributes are good too, being tall and strong.

#6 - DMC - Thorvar Prijholm - 26 - FC Deska (United Gordonopia) - 53 caps, 5 goals.
Prijholm has overtaken Tikhon Voronin for the starting role as the more defensive of the two central midfielders, his impressive performances for FC Deska driving them to a Champions' Cup final and firmly placing them in the upper echelons of world football. Prijholm is a tough tackling, dynamic midfielder and is better going forward than Voronin. His passing and creativity allowing him to contribute further up the field as well as in the breaking up of the play which is so crucial for the player who is employed in this position for the national team. It could be a big call by Marius Sadowsky to make the choice he has though, which way it goes will decide whether it is good or bad.

#7 - DMC - Dobroslav Stojanovic - 28 - Atletik Thessia - 115 caps, 32 goals.
Stojanovic has transitioned from a dynamic forward-thinking midfielder to an experienced, creative and most importantly, solid leader on the field. One of the strong contenders for the captaincy when Repin eventually hangs up his boots. He doesn't put a foot wrong in the centre of the park and keeps things ticking over, making all the right decisions and then when a chance presents itself - whether it be in providing an assist or scoring a goal - he is lethal and effective. Stojanovic is a top player and in the prime of his career, expect a big World Cup cycle from him and a few goals too. He's the more offensive of the pairing that shield the defence and will often be found almost alongside the attacking midfielder in the formation.

#8 - AML - Ismet van Huijgevoort - 27 - SK Franz Josef City (Polar Islandstates) - 97 caps, 28 goals.
Another player who went all the way to the Champions' Cup final this season - and van Huijgevoort was on the winning side too. His incisive dribbling makes him a huge weapon for the national side to have and that will mean he'll be massive in both providing opportunities for goals and scoring them. He's an extremely creative player and very forward thinking, he'll try and dribble through defences and will have a knack for moving inside rather than staying out on the wing. His finishing is top class and his passing is pinpoint accurate. He'll be a thorn in the side of defences throughout this campaign once again, as he has been for the past couple of World Cups.

#9 - AMC - Mikkel Kohlemainen - 21 - Arka Snezhnaya - 40 caps, 21 goals.
The nation's love affair continues, even those who hate Arka Snezhnaya (1896 Ebor fans spring to mind), love the starlet that they have shining bright within their squad. Kohlemainen is an excellent player as evidenced by him driving his club side to two straight Mytanar Top League titles and winning the Mytanar Player of the Year following his performances this year. He has an excellent eye for goals, is extremely pacy and always wants to be taking players on. His interplay with his team mates is what makes him most lethal however and when him, van Huijgevoort, Iivari Kaitanen and Kristian Haugen get going, it will be near unstoppable. Stop Kohlemainen, you could be stopping Mytannion.

#10 - AMR - Iivari Kaitanen - 25 - Urbizania Wanderers (Astograth) - 115 caps, 43 goals.
The poacher is moving out to the right-wing to utilise his speed and interplay. He'll play in an advance role though and will get involved with most of the attacks going down the left, which will allow him to drift inside and add another man in the box. He is a classic goal poacher though and he'll be extremely dangerous in that part of the game. His crossing should be useful too, he loves to hit a low cross and any good forward will take that. Kaitanen will roam a fair bit, moving inside and forward and will use his clinical finishing to the best of its ability when possible too. His speed will be crucial in counter attacks - where he will be most useful. His movement and good heading ability for a 5'9 forward will also be important.

#11 - ST - Kristian Haugen - 24 - Energia-Yaderny Miago - 32 caps,17 goals.
Haugen is finally being given the chance to lead the line for himself. After 149 goals in 211 games for his club side, Energia-Yaderny Miago, the nation has finally decided to put its trust in Haugen with Sadowsky making the decision to let him take over from the sterling Eugeny Ivanov who had an excellent run with the national team. Haugen is a true complete forward and can score from anywhere, his aerial ability and finishing being equally clinical. He doesn't care how he scores either with a determination meaning he will bully defenders and storm past them with equal contempt. He's not an overly physical forward, but he can be. He can do it all and if he doesn't get over 10 goals this cycle, many will be surprised.

Substitutes.
#12 - GK - Dennis Rothstein - 21 - Arka Snezhnaya - 1 cap.
Rothstein is thrown into this role by virtue of having no top goalkeepers in the prime of their careers really. This has meant Wallinaar - who'd probably only be good enough for the bench if we had a top goalkeeper that was sub-35 years old - has got the starting job and Rothstein has been thrust onto the bench at a fairly young age for a national team goalkeeper. He could be a top talent in the future in between the sticks, but we'll have to wait for that.

#13 - DL - Rob Fridrich - 27 - Atletik Thessia - 30 caps, 2 goals.
He's a solid player who will offer a sturdy and reliable replacement. He's good going forward too, offering a more attacking option at the back if there is any transition needed. He's learnt a lot over the past four or so seasons and moved from a small club in Turbine Decraa to a big club in the form of Atletik where he was given a chance to fulfil his potential and he has done that. He'll be the eventual replacement to Lev Repin, we'd imagine although he should carry on for years. Fridrich is good defensively too and has definitely improved that side of his game.

#14 - DC - Benjamin Lautner - 21 - Energia-Yaderny Miago - 1 cap.
A big opportunity for the big, powerful central defender from Miago. He's big and hard and nasty and that is fairly commonplace among Mytanar defenders but Lautner is set apart by the fact that he can actually tackle without breaking somebody's leg. He's exceptional in the air and the youth system at Miago will have worked hard in ensuring his tactical awareness and reading of the game is up to scratch. He'll be getting regular substitute appearances in order to get him up to the world class level, but give him a couple of years (and the whole Energia-Yaderny Miago team, in fact), and he'll be right up there.

#15 - DMC - Tikhon Voronin - 28 - Liria Prizren - 110 caps, 6 goals.
How can you have someone this experienced on the bench? Good question, but Voronin is and he'll be hungry to get his starting position back. He's a more defensive option and therefore will come on fairly regularly late in games where Mytannion are ahead by a narrow margin and just need someone there to settle the nerves and break things up. He's a tough tackler and doesn't pull any punches, if he hurts the opposition he just puts it down to the physicality of the game that he plays. His passing is much improved too over the years and he now isn't as wasteful when he actually has the ball at his feet.

#16 - MC - Iuliu Zaplatic - 31 - Ulsa (Eura) - 51 caps, 5 goals.
He's only got this position back by virtue of some strong performances for Ulsa over in Eura. He's a box-to-box midfielder in the mould of Robin Hjik and he gets involved in everything. Many are disappointed he has actually taken this position back from the more creative flair player, Yuri Matveyev that has worked hard these past seasons to try and ensure he has a place in the team. Zaplatic had tough competition from a good five other players just for this position on the bench and he'll have to impress (it does help all them players are young as they'll get their chance in a couple of years and still be young enough to get their chance - which is what the Mytanar skeptics see this as, a chance for Zaplatic to break the 50-cap barrier and nothing more).

#17 - AML - Stanislav Navratil - 25 - Directus (Eura) - 8 caps, 2 goals.
His lack of caps may make him appear inexperienced but that doesn't show the amount of games he has played both in Mytannion and over in Eura with him still being relatively young. He's versatile too, being able to play on the wide left or right, or through the middle and even in a more withdrawn role. His passing is excellent, he gets involved in the assist charts regularly in the Euran league (which is admittedly not hard, given the relative lack of quality in that league, especially whilst defending), and chips in with a few goals too. Sadowsky will be hoping for both to be brought into this side.

#18 - ST - Ildar Patrelyak - 23 - Directus (Eura) - 5 caps, 2 goals.
The former Atletik player worked well with Marius Sadowsky when he was at the club, but couldn't work with Kislasson who came after him. His bad boy image within Mytanar football not suiting Kislasson's new vision for the club, but Directus of the FSSO were happy to snap him up and his relationship with fellow Mytanar Navratil has given him a new lease of life as his goalscoring record has continued on from where it left off for Atletik Thessia before he was forced out from die Stadtbewohner. He's a strong forward, quick and good at holding the ball up, but is often lazy. Has the ability to create a goal from nothing or get sent off. His mood usually is what it depends on. He does seem to be willing to give a bit more for the cause with the national team and if he teams up with club mate Navratil and former manager (and confidant), Sadowsky to good effect, he could be tough to play against.

Reserves.
#19 - GK - Rizvan Kadyrov - 21 - South Factory (Astograth) - 1 cap.
#20 - DC - Detlef Braun - 19 - Litala '93 - 1 cap.
#21 - DR - Kevin Fuhrmann - 21 - Energia-Yaderny Miago - 1 cap.
#22 - MC - Yuri Matveyev - 21 - Liria Prizren - 15 caps, 5 goals.
#23 - AMC - Omet Drazaal - 19 - Energia-Yaderny Miago - 3 caps, 1 goal.
#24 - AMR - Yaromir Uspensky - 24 - Urbizania Wanderers (Astograth) - 4 caps.
#25 - ST - Matija Trgocevic - 22 - Real Ile Perrot (Sicoutimont) - 3 caps.

Fans.

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

The fans are renowned for being violent, hooliganism is a huge, huge problem in Mytannion and this continues when their fans follow the national team overseas. Fans will cause trouble and light up flares, set off fireworks and carry massive flags with them. The ultras scene is quite vibrant in Mytannion too, often the club team's fans will band together to create 2-3 impressive choreographies per qualifying campaign.

Copa Rushmori Preview: Saugeais Looking To Build Upon CoH Success

The celebrations had to die down sooner or later, right? After Saugeais had won the Cup of Harmony, every major city in the nation seemed to grow vocal chords and shout towards the heavens, proclaiming the nation's first ever victory in a major sports tournament. But now that all the pomp and circumstance is over, manager Franco Delgado had much work to do for the upcoming Copa Rushmori, being hosting for the first time ever in Charruterra. Gone was one of the driving forces in front of the net in Vincent James, as he announced his overall retirement from the game after the last Euran domestic season at Spartangrad. Julien Leclerc, who had seemed to be a late bloomer and hitting his stride at the age of 33, decided that he had done all he could on the national level and turned his focus on keeping the captaincy at Bayern-Algaer in Taeshan. And while François Bourgogne, hero to the Knights throughout the Cup of Harmony, had stated he wanted to remain a starter, there was no overlooking the younger, faster, arguably more reliable Amable Deniau to take his place. "Bourgogne will remain on the team as a substitute and a mentor," said Delgado after posting his roster. "I have made it clear to him that I wish for his presence in the locker room, to not only be a voice of reason as one of the veterans of the national team, but also as a voice of counsel to the younger members of the squad, to help them adapt to national team play and strategies."

With that said, the two remaining spots are being filled by players that should come as no surprise to those who have followed the team within the past five years. Yancy Wash, now 34 but still minding the net for Taeshan's Atlantea Hurricanes, transitions to full time goalkeeping duties after sharing them with James the past few years. He will also be charged with the captain's armband now, since Bourgogne will not be on the field full time, a decision made in large part to his exuberant presence on the team, made mention by Delgado. "Even before coming to manage the national team, when I was back in Bugny, I was aware of how great a keeper he was in Pays de Croix. It was sad to see him leave after the fire sale, but I knew he was destined for bigger and better things based in large part on his international level performances. For that reason, I felt it right to give him the captaincy." Delgado also promoted midfielder Carson Turnbull to starter after a long session on the bench behind Leclerc. His sub spot will now be taken up by Hugues Pascal, 28, from Ville-DuPont.

As several people have pointed out, the draw has all the probabilities of making or breaking the Knights' spirits. In matchday order, Saugeais will be taking on Urszag-Csatoria, Vaugania, and then the all important showdown against former World Cup co-hosts Pasarga. While many pundits have given U-C and Vaugania no chance in their matches, Delgado has quickly quashed all mention of the word "walkover." "You know, we have to take it one match at a time. If we look too far ahead and not what's on the task at hand, that's how you lose games and get eliminated. I'll try my best to keep these guys focused, and we'll get to Pasarga when we get to Pasarga. Not a moment earlier. Right now, it's all about the preparation for Urszag-Csatoria. Yes, I do understand they are a little lower in caliber, but that shouldn't stop the boys from going out and playing like they should always play, and that's with fierce tenacity."

After 3 third place finishes and two consecutive ones in the most recent Copas, the Knights most definitely should have that want, that drive to take home the trophy and to continue the Saugeain legacy that has sprung up in recent years.

Kickoff will take place at 21:00 and you can watch the match on SNN Sports 1.

Eura: Copa Rushmori XVI Squad

Manager: Kelly Sporadic (Audioslava), 60 years old

Kelly Sporadic first rose to stardom as a young playmaker for the Silexhera national football side, back in the qualifiers for World Cup 46, and quickly made his name as a star player for XXV de Maio in Cafundeu, where he would spend most of his career. He retired after helping Silexhera qualify for their first and only World Cup finals in cycle 48.

Kelly became manager of the Audioslavia national team for the World Cup 59 cycle, aged just forty-four thanks to the slower Cafunduese time compared to that of Audioslavia, and with a modest history of management and coaching in Cafunduese club football. His first four months brought a level of success that utterly flabbergasted his employers, reaching the final of AOCAF 34 with a bare-bones team of amateurs, including his half-Cafunduese, half-Silexheran son Weverton, who qualified for the Audioslavia national team through means unknown. He followed the AOCAF 34 final with victory in the Baptism of Fire, but could only lead the Bulls to a modest 3-3-6 record in qualifying for WC59, finishing a disappointing 6th from 7 teams, following that with a first-round exit in the Cup of Harmony.

Kelly bounced back for cycle 60, and lead a rejuvinated Audioslavia team to AOCAF 35, where they went one better than their previous foray in the tournament and emerged victorious, beating Andossa se Mitrin Vega 2-0 in the final. World Cup 60 qualifying would prove to be another steep learning curve, as the Bulls finished mid-table in their group, but the side would record their best Cup of Harmony run later on, reaching the semi-finals before falling to Taeshan.

Kelly had lead a fledgling, mostly amateur Audioslavia to two championships, a final and a semi-final in his first two cycles in charge of Audioslavia - a fantastic feat - but things would begin to turn sour for the Silexheran in cycle 61.

The Bulls failed to get out of the group in AOCAF 36, failed to improve on their previous performance in World Cup qualifying, and were all-but ousted from the Cup of Harmony after a heavy defeat to Kinitaria and a subsequent draw at Sargossa. The Audioslavian media, always quick to jump on NT managers, jumped on Kelly, and the Silexheran decided to call it quits before the final game of the tournament, thanking the supporters, players and FFA for ten eventful years as manager.

Kelly became manager of Audioslavia's former BoF rivals Licentiapacisterra for cycle 62, finding immediate success with a championship in the form of the Campionato Esportiva. Kelly then did with the cyan what he couldn't do for the Bulls - take them to the World Cup finals, qualifying via a playoff. The side amassed a paltry point in the finals, but the side would take heart from their position at the top table of world football, and had high hopes to retain their CE title but, in a battle between two former-champions, lost out in the first round to the awesomely named - if modestly talented - THRILLEDGE.

From here, like in Audioslavia, things would turn a little sour. The cyan struggled in their WC63 qualifying group, finally finishing second before entering into, and losing, a playoff with eventual runners-up Starblaydia. The Licentiapacisterran FA decided they'd seen enough of the Audioslavian as NT boss, and announced his contract would not be renewed after the next Campionato Esportiva.

Now 60, Kelly tends to play a solid, defensive style of play focused on technique and maintaining possession, no doubt moulded that way after years of having to get a bunch of amateur Audioslavians to avoid humiliatingly large defeats. His 4-5-1 formation he used at Audioslavia has been retained by the claret and green and used to great effect in the WC championship winning cycle, while Kelly's own interpretation of the system, at Licen, has morphed into a more fluid 4-1-4-1.

He signed on as Euran national team manager with a three year contract to the great surprise of commentators after the Copa Rushmori that preceded the qualifying stages of the 64th World Cup, when Eura were 13th in the world and attempting to regain the sort of form that propelled them to the final of the 60th World Cup. Three years senior of the man he replaces, Ben Randall, Sporadic has to prove now that he can work his magic again with a team that plays a free flowing, attractive style that he would appreciate – but with a higher tempo and a more attacking nature. Perhaps his biggest problem will be tightening up the defence.

After one contract renewal, two World Cup campaigns and a Copa Rushmori tournament, Kelly Sporadic is sitting in a fairly secure position as Eura manager. World Cup 64 qualifying was an underwhelming debut for Sporadic and Kallstrom as they got used to the system, before an embarrassing finals performance saw them out at the group stage after failing to win a single game. But Sporadic rung some changes before the World Cup 65 campaign and this qualifying campaign went better, recovering from a shaky start to give Eura the second best record in qualifying of any team that year.

His side recovered from a disappointing performance against Mytannion in the opening game of the finals to record a legendary victory over Audioslavia, a notable personal victory for Sporadic that possibly saved his job, before another win over the Licentian Isles. Eura went out in the round of sixteen, but only after the Holy Empire parked the bus to earn a 0-0 draw and win on penalties. Poor results followed in Eura’s long awaited return from exile in the Copa Rushmori and in Olympic football, but progress is being made and only a failure to qualify put Sporadic’s position in jeopardy. In his four years as boss, he has built a big rapport with not only the team but the Euran fans and people, who almost treat him like one of their own – a surrogate for Ben Randall. That love was cemented by the greatest achievement of all; a World Cup win. These are truly great times for Euran football and Kelly Sporadic.

(Credit to Audioslava for writing up most of this biography.)

Assistant: Johannes Kallstrom (Polar Islandstates), 47 years old

Signing his contract on the same day as Sporadic, also for three years, Kallstrom is the latest Polarian import to Euran football, reflecting the close admiration by Eurans of their hardy island nature and going the other way an admiration of a culture where football is deeply ingrained as a passion rather than a sport. He will be working in close conjunction with his subordinate and Head Coach, Louis Watson. Kallstrom’s role is important covering for Sporadic on occasion and playing perhaps a more pivotal role than most assistant managers do in relation to their main men. Much like in his time assistant managing the Terns, he has a big say in selection, tactical chemistry, discipline, maintaining extremely high fitness levels and a superb ability to judge the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. He has a lot to live up to in emulating the recently resigned Dimitri Campbell, who was as respected as his boss Randall in his time helping Eura emerge on the footballing scene. No pressure then.

Head Coach: Louis Watson (Eura), 46 years old

Watson has been on the coaching staff for over a decade, and plays a key role in squad selection and maintaining discipline. He has been approached by top foreign clubs for vacant manager positions several times, yet he continues to act as Sporadic’s enforcer and motivator. Currently under a lot of pressure after a very poor Di Bradini Cup display in Equestrian States.

Mikkel Sjonberg vaulted the steps two at a time. He was excited. For the first time in a long, long time, he was excited about starting the working day. Tasked with following the Terns around for the Valhallan Independent, he'd been devastated by the defeat in the final. Something about it just seemed to crush the grain of hope and the spark of vitality that lived inside him, and he slumped away on a four-month leave to try and regain his passion for the job.

It hadn't come easy. He'd had to write two short stories and a couple of magazine articles before he managed to think about writing an article about football without breaking out into a cold sweat, but he'd managed it. Slowly and surely, he'd managed it. His flatmate had compiled for him a list of other famous sporting failures, and by chain watching them all over several hours online, he'd managed to work away the frustration. He realised that the Terns weren't alone. He realised that he could get on with it.

And just in time for the Copa Rushmori, too. Mikkel loved the Copa Rushmori. And not just because it was something the Terns hadn't yet messed up in consecutive finals. No, there was a sense of camaraderie about the place. Everyone was Rushmori. Nobody ever had to travel all that far, really. Nobody from that other continent was swanning about the place complaining about how they were the best at the sport ever, it was fun. It was entertainment. And that, first and foremost, is the whole point of sport with a audience, right?

So, barely two articles into his return to the newspaper, Mikkel was running up the stairs to the sports department at the very top of the dilapidated old building, looking forwards to seeing his friends and colleagues, and collecting his tickets for Charruterra.

The Valhallan Independent's building wasn't really fit for purpose anymore, unfortunately. Built during the heights of the print media's grasp on the news of the world, it was a huge, sprawling shit-tip of a building. As the internet continued its steady bite into print media's profits, maintenance had slowed to a crawl, and now entire suites, rooms, and even floors lay dormant as departments merged, closed down, or were shafted into the dreaded weekend edition. Not sports however, oh no. Up there on the top floor the powerful sports journalists of the time had demanded from the paper, their strength had never waned, and only the constant paint-jobs were starting to get rid of the distinct hovering air of cigar-smoke and misogyny.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Mikkel took a deep breath before throwing the doors open onto a room that he hadn't seen in a year. Not since he left for Audioslavia. It felt good to be home.

Sort of.

"Hello, guys!" he shouted triumphantly, "How are y-... oh, god!"

A huddle of bored looking journalists looked round at him from the centre of the messiest, most cluttered news room Mikkel had ever seen. They just about nodded a welcome back at him.

"What the hell have you been doing in here?" Mikkel asked, incredulously, "it looks like Thessia up here!"

A few shrugs in return. Mikkel blinked, and sat at his workstation. He turned on his computer, and risked checking his e-mails.

Four thousand three hundred and eighty-one. Shit.

And then one, highlighted in red, and with about four hundred 'reply all's coming off from it already. An e-mail that explained the mess and the general sense of ennui hanging about the place.

"Shit."

Well the last few months had truly been a whirlwind for Elita Ryzaev. Committing murder isn’t easy at the best of times, or when your victim is just a relatively normal person. But when your country is in turmoil (again), with nobody truly knowing what the future held for the country, various states pushing their own agendas and the real future being obscure if nothing else... Well, it does become a little bit easier. If your victim is a normal person. But Elita wasn’t working for normal people and that meant she wasn’t in the business of assassinating normal people either.

Premier Zweig had been her victim and the long-range effort with the sniper had done the job effectively enough. Going on the run for a few days was hard, especially as she was probably the only one in Esca who was actually carrying a sniper rifle on her person around the city. Sure guns were common place, but not fucking snipers! The KGB had eventually given her instruction and although she had completed the suicide mission that they had set for her and managed to get away with it, she wasn’t given her wish directly. She had asked for a free pass to go after Kalinina if she managed to get rid of Zweig.

She had been told to kill Kalinina or face the consequences.

That wasn’t what she had wanted. It was another suicide mission, maybe with a bit more leeway this time, they only spoke of ‘consequences’ rather than her being decommissioned. That was a little less harsh sounding. Still, the threat was there and she needed to somehow keep hold of her mental faculties and not go insane that she finally now had the chance to bring closure to the chapter of her life that included that evil woman.

So here she was once again. Soluca. The dust and the hustle and bustle was there once again, but she hadn’t actually seen the city at night. It wasn’t quite the same, there weren’t as many cars moving around at the pace of snails and there was a large number of police patrolling the streets looking for would be troublemakers. Although Elita had a nagging suspicion they were there more to just hold on to power for Emparan or whatever the new fellow at the helm was called. This place was completely reminiscent of Kalinina’s Mytannion, at least at night time, it was nothing more than a trumped up police state.

She had the last intelligence on Kalinina putting the deposed despot in an apartment somewhere in the middle of Soluca. One of the posh flats that dignitaries from ‘friendly’ countries were often housed in, they were nice, lots of plush leather and glass. Apparently. Some families lived in inner city Soluca as well, it’d be tough for Elita to actually find the right one. There were so many, it was confusing and the information on an exact location wasn’t too clear. Elita wondered if she’d make an easy discovery, but going off her current work, that wasn’t going to happen.

She’d have to play the long game.

...

Elita knew she had been followed as soon as she had stepped off the sweeping boulevard that was the sight of so much during the day. She had started to walk towards the location, where Kalinina was meant to be. The police, with their visible truncheons and their fairly flashy uniforms (by a Mytanar's standards), had looked towards her and one of them had muttered something and then nodded to the other. Normal people wouldn't notice such movements out the corner of their eyes, but when you're in the line of work that Elita was, it's just the normal run of the mill thing. The sort of thing you notice naturally, it becomes a part of your lifestyle and you end up having to work around it. Elita didn't know the city she was in very well, she had a vague idea of the streets immediately near her - but once she went out of the middle of the city she'd be lost.

She was glad she didn't have to go far - from the look of the map anyway - to find the person she wanted to find.

That of course assumed that the KGB's information was correct. Elita knew it wouldn't be, this was information found by agents that had been in Sargossa whilst Elita had been kept in the Licentian Isles. That meant it wouldn't be great. Roles that Elita had set-up had been given to new agents, those that didn't know the job too well and hadn't been raised on the intelligence of the Mytanar Befreiungsarmee. Elita's reputation had been destroyed, she was held to blame for the infiltration of the cell in Esportiva and for its collapse and the Mytanar portion of the blame that was still believed by some in the Licentian Isles. There was some mild suspicion from the bods at the KGB that someone in the Inevitable Syndicate was running the show and had dragged them all along in his little game to get his own way.

Elita didn't care anymore. She was half driven by a desire to get justice and revenge and half driven by self preservation. She needed to save her own skin, whatever the consequences were, she didn't want to have to actually deal with them. Sure it may have been her responsibility to make sure everything ran smoothly with cells around emerging regions and whatever, but she felt the punishment was unfair all the same. She couldn't make the guy do his job, he was the one that had become lazy and she wasn't the sort to just put someone out of service as soon as they became a little lazy. She wanted to give them a chance. Not everybody was as bloodthirsty as the men at the top. The KGB wasn't made up entirely of murderers.

But she knew she had to get the job done, quite simply. That wouldn't be easy with these two policemen on her back. She suspected they had guns under their jackets somewhere, the police here weren't as lightweight as the ones back home. She'd actually have to get them off her tail first though, which could be easier said than done. She had continued to walk at a relatively normal pace, pretending that she hadn't noticed them and that she was just going about her normal day. She hoped that that would be enough, but she knew as soon as they had started to follow on behind her, that they were serious. She knew it was only because she looked different, she didn't look stereotypically Sargossan and that let her down a whole lot.

She didn't know exactly what to do, she was looking for a way out, but couldn't find anywhere that actually matched with where she needed to be. She started taking shortcuts, going left and right and taking all sorts of directions in the hope that she'd throw them off. It worked slightly as she looked back and realised they were out of sight, but she knew they would just be lagging behind slightly. She now had to right herself, head the correct direction and find the destination she had intended to land up in. She pulled the piece of paper, the map of Soluca, from her pocket and studied it all the while continuing her steady pace through the twisty, turny streets of Soluca. She glanced over her shoulder a couple of times and the police were gone, they couldn't be seen. They just weren't there. Elita had a nagging suspicion that something had happened, but she couldn't take it in fully.

She turned left. She was going the right way now. Kalinina would soon be in her presence.

...

Elita stood outside the flat for the first time; she knew that all that separated her were a few metres and a brick wall. She had a feeling that this was just the right place and whilst she couldn’t guarantee it – she knew there was a possibility that the deposed despot was somewhere else – she just had a strange feeling about it. She knew she’d be there and she’d have a good conversation with her before putting a bullet in her head. She wondered what the Sargossan police would do with the gun had they caught her before. That’d be an interesting conversation, she was sure.

She was glad there wasn’t another round of international embarrassment for the KGB, but she didn’t think she cared anymore. She could easily go on the run just as Kalinina had, she did after all have some friends in high places herself.

She wondered what Kalinina’s reaction would be when she saw her. The two knew each other, not on a personal level, but they knew each other. Kalinina had been informed of Elita’s exploits with the Mytanar Befreiungsarmee and Elita knew living under Natella Kalinina all too well. The was almost an unspoken bond between the two, not one of friendship or mutual respect or anything of the usual, but more of mutual hatred. Elita would quite happily murder her, in cold blood with a whole lot of brutality thrown in. The revenge would feel good, but she wasn’t sure it was worth it.

Elita approached the door of the flat, about five storeys up and knocked. Three quick raps of the knuckles against the wooden door.

She watched the handle turn and then the door opened slowly. Elita launched herself through the doorway and pulled out the gun, pointing it around the room and then turning back towards the person at the door. It was a woman, of slight build and fairly good looks. She had short hair, bobbed, but it wasn’t blonde like Natella Kalinina’s, it was brown. Elita looked her up and down and saw the look of terror in her eyes.

When she saw that, she could confirm to herself that this was not Kalinina. She couldn’t guarantee that the former Mytanar dictator wasn’t in the apartment though – and so she continued onwards, to the middle room of the apartment, there was a man and he turned as he heard the footsteps approaching. His mouth fell in shock as he saw this pale woman – not a Sargossan – stalking into the room with a weapon that could end his life in less than a second. He had his arm draped over the sofa, over the shoulders of a young child. Another was playing on the floor.

Elita’s mouth dropped, she felt empty. Whoever these people were, they wouldn’t be harbouring Natella Kalinina. There were screams now, the woman at the door was hysterical as she had grabbed up a phone and dialled the Sargossan police and the man was up, with a foreboding look upon his face and an arm raised as he walked towards Elita. The two children had dropped to the floor, shaking, scared. Elita knew she had to get out and she looked towards the wide window that led onto a balcony overlooking the streets below.

She stepped forward.

“I’m sorry.” She said, not entirely sure if the Sargossan man would understand her. He probably got the gist, but he just jabbered back in his native tongue.

Elita swung the pistol into the side of his head and he crumpled. The woman began going more hysterical and Elita could already hear sirens as the wails of the children’s voices started up as well. Elita didn’t know what she had become. She didn’t like herself anymore, in her quest to finally get hold of the woman she hated most she had lost a part of what made her her. She believed she wasn’t as ruthless as some at the KGB, but that theory had been proved wrong pretty quickly.

Attacking innocent Sargossans? What was she thinking. She had to escape though. She ran towards the doors and burst through them, hardly noticing the glass shattering around her and ignoring the pain of the cuts that had suddenly sprung up on her arms and forehead. She grabbed onto the balcony and swung over, it was a long way down, she couldn’t drop that far.

She could just about reach a ledge underneath, that seemed to run around the whole building. But she’d have to hold onto the edge of the balcony. She lowered herself down and clung on as much as she could. She scrabbled with her feet, trying to make contact with the ledge. Elita was acutely aware that the sirens were getting closer and they could only be for one thing. Her.

She made contact with the ledge and lowered herself down. The way down was easier now. She was sure she had noticed a fire escape when she had arrived. She reminisced on the last time she had made use of a fire escape as she edged around to where she believed it was located on this particular building – she had been with Adder, in Ebor or was it Snezhnaya? She couldn’t recall fully but it had been a close escape that time, from Kalinina’s troops.

This time it was a close escape from Sargossan police.

Same shit, different day.

...

Agent Adder had been looking for Elita Ryzaev for days. He believed she was lying low in West Soluca, he’d only arrived two days prior in the city – having had to trek across large swathes of Sargossan countryside to even reach this point. He had a nice glow from the sun and he could almost pass as a local if people didn’t look too closely. He hoped that the Mytanar girl would welcome him with open arms and thank him for coming to help her. He hoped that she didn’t pick up on his so called ‘fragile’ mental state. That sort of thing did his head in, the shrinks were wrong, he knew his own mind.

Mytannion had left quite an impression on him. The poverty, the grim life the people had, it had affected him. That was before he had even seen the horrors of combat in the country. That side of it was the worst. The way these people were prepared to fight one another, it was inhuman. War was never nice or even civilised. It was a dirty game ran by evil people and Adder had made a career out of it. Some of the things that happened were unforgivable, it was war crime central and he wouldn’t rest until the woman who had caused the majority of it was imprisoned.

Or better still, dead.

He had to find Elita first though and so far his search had proved fruitless. He had checked and her last sighting had been in Western Soluca, he had no records of where she stayed though and had merely sightings. He hadn’t found any evidence of her being here though and he’d been looking for about a day and a half. Wherever she was, she’d moved on from here. Soluca was after all, a huge city, there were lots of places she could be. But he had a feeling she wouldn’t be too far away, or at the very least she’d do something that drew attention to herself.

Mytanars always did, after all.

Deniau Hat Trick As Knights Ride In Rout

Believe me, you have no idea how hard it was not to revert to the old "Seventh Heaven" cliché headline. Hell, I cringed typing that out here. But for all the gaudy headlines that are sure to pop up, one thing remained perfectly clear: the Knights did exactly what they were supposed to against a team they were supposed to do it to. On paper, Urszag-Csatoria wasn't going to put up much of a challenge, but having Saugeais drop a 7 spot on them to open the Copa Rushmori group stage sent a message to the rest of the teams in the group, if not the entire competition, with the message stating: "This is what we're capable of, try and stop us."

It was pretty arrogant of Franco Delgado to pump his starters well past the 70 minute mark, when the match had long been decided, but his response to allegations of running up the score was one of stoic justification: "I wanted the starters, the main eleven I've chosen, to gel for as long as possible out there. I wanted them to understand how to play when others are getting fatigued and you can't sub them off, and to adjust accordingly."

Amable Deniau's impact from transitioning to the starters role was felt immediately, as his hat trick in the first half was a major highlight of the team, sparking a scoring outburst that saw the Knights net 6 in the first half alone. The nameless, expressionless Urszag-Csatorians were utterly helpless on the Saugeain attack, as they meekly tried to stall the oncoming rush of attempts from Deniau and company. The first goal, also being the first of the match, came just 4 minutes in, when Deniau took a nice through pass from winger Alphonse Richelieu on the left side and cut through two U-C defenders, shooting a nice curler into the upper right side of the net for the score. His second (17') was a rather nice gift after the U-C keeper spilled a long range shot attempt from midfielder Jimmy Alberighi. Deniau stayed onside as the shot flew in, and after the keeper mishandled the ball, struck a quick low line drive for the score to double the Saugeian lead. His third and final goal (39') was all set up by Deniau, as he took the ball from the midfield line and dribbled without pause to the edge of the right side of the penalty area. He then launched a slowly rising shot that the keeper was slow to react on, effectively putting Saugeais up 5-0. Deniau's day was over in the 77th minute after being subbed out.

Alberighi, striker Blake Descoteaux, midfielder Carson Turnbull, and defender Didier Bernard all managed to net goals within the first half in several manner of forms. Alberighi and Turnbull's goals came off the U-C's inability to clear the ball properly, leading to blooters from 24 and 29 yards out respectively. An unintentionally handed ball by a U-C defender allowed Blake Descoteaux to add a goal from the penalty mark, and Bernard capitalized on a corner kick near the end of the first half, seeing the ball onto his head using the height of his 6'6" frame, and directing it just past the dive of the opposing keeper.

Delgado mentioned in his post match interview that he wanted to see how the team would fare when they are tired, to see how they change up the game plan. Well, in the second half, the Knights relented on the attackers, not going all out like in the first half. That didn't, however, mean the end of several attacking chances for Saugeais, as substitute striker Gerard Kuchler was able to net the seventh and final goal of the day, coming on to the ball of the left wing and dribbling in through defenders, managing to score after his shot ricocheted off the keeper's hands but then off the post, angling into the net.

Saugeais' defenses were untested for most of the match, with only garbage time attacks in the last 6 minutes from Urszag-Csatoria as the only times they needed to be one their toes. All in all, having only one shot conceded all game is more of an indicator on how well the forwards were doing, more so than how well the defenders needed to be called upon. Nevertheless, Courtney Hedley said that the exercise is more than enough to get them ready for Vaugania. "Just to go out and get the reps in without doing much, it's better than sitting around and watching. It keeps you loose and limber for the next match."

Speaking of, the next match in the group will be against Vaugania, a team that was in a shootout with Pasarga before ultimately losing 6-4. Delgado understands they have a knack for scoring even before their match took place, and will be giving extra attention to how the defense should play. "It didn't help in the match against Urszag-Csatoria with how to set up proper counter measures for opposing attacks, but we'll go over that in practice," said Delgado. A win against Vaugania will see the Knights on the second round of the Copa Rushmori for an amazing 10th time in 14 appearances. Of course, just getting to the knockout round would only be the beginning, as Delgado and his men look to continue their winning ways.

Torgos Tribune ~ Something In The Water?

That is the question after the first matchday here in Charruterra as Group 4 of the Copa Rushmori saw 17 goals in the two matches played this afternoon. The amazing thing about that stat is not only the sheer amount of goals scored in the two matches, but that they were shared only among three of the four teams in the group, with group top seeds and our former World Cup cohosts in Saugeais putting up a clean sheet in addition to their seven goals scored. For the Wanderers, it was a different story, as they were a part of a ten goal shootout which they were somewhat fortunate enough to come off the better side of, in a stellar six to four match that will likely give outgoing captain Antonín Žák nightmares. The Tanrısal announcing that he will be hanging up his cleats for the international play at the end of the tournament.

With their captain looking to set his sails, his teammates are hoping to send Žák off on a high note, attempting to capture that crown of the region from the likes of the Polarians and Sargossans. With a full strength side selected for the tournament, it seems even the manageress is looking to send the serviceable centerback and captain out as good as she can. With the Copa Rushmori usually being regarded as a lesser priority and a chance to test out those in the national team pool that are just on the edge of the team and looking to work their way into the side. Instead, she's brought the entire squad that had already created Pasargan history by advancing to the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time in back to back cycles.

However with Saugeais in the group, the chances of taking the group title are indeed not the best, as we know full well that the Saugeais side is one of the better ones in all of Rushmore. Indeed, the football in Rushmore has been on quite the rise lately, with the Polarians routinely getting into the Final of the World Cup, even if they can not manage to win them, and Eura having emerged as the victor of the last tournament over those same Polarians. There is also the usual bunch of qualifiers like Mytannion and Valladares, along with a strong but a bit reeling nation in Astograth. Our own football has improved leaps and bounds since the takeover at the helm by Aidé Hernádez, who will be entering the last two years of her contract. As of right now, the results she has produced would be enough to think that the PFA will extend her tenure at the helm of the national team at least one more cycle, but politics and contracts are just as fickle as the success on the pitch can be.

The Wanderers though are off to a good start on seeing Žák at least through to the knockouts with their opening match day victory, even if by the means which it came are not like to please the defender. The captain will be sure to look to inspire more cohesion from his fellow defenders as they will look to replicate the same sort of success that the Knights of Saugeais had against the defense and attack of Urszag-Csatoria. With the Wanderers own attack looking rather potent after putting six past Vaugania, it really only is the possession and defense that needs some tinkering if the Wanderers are going to continue to have success in the tournament. With Hernádez preferring a good defense to a good offense, you can be sure that she is like to change up the tactics for these last two games, playing the tinkerer to keep her side unpredictable for their opponents and hopefully crafting a game plan that exploits their opponents own weaknesses.

Ijí Rungajé's Diary

Heretics surround me, apparently. I mean, hosting the Copa Rushmori is all good and everything, but I expected it to be, you know, more Charruterran. Like, no foreigners at all. Is it too much to ask? Now I'm surrounded by people from other nations that do not follow the one and only true way of Sharuujpán, the Goddess that shall smite all of those that do not believe in her. Being close to them just makes me feel uneasy.

However, after yesterday's win against New Ponyville, in which Darmafá did really well scoring two goals to help us in beating those heretic ponythingsomethings by scoring, something left me really uneasy...

I started considering the possibility of some of my teammates not believing in the almighty-Goddess that shall smite all heretics, Sharuujpán. I mean, it's ok with the foreigners - I already hated them by default anyway -, but the very national team? Cohújaan, Fajú and Darmafá look very suspicious to me. What's worse, they all are the best players we've got in the team. Are they... maybe... non-believers? No, they can't be. That would be too much of an emotional hit for the entire team. Maybe, it is their - Sharuujpán forgive me - atheism that drives them forward? It would make some sense, though I've been told I'm one of the best in the team and I do firmly believe in Sharuujpán.

What makes me truly suspicious is how those three are always the one that look the least interested in our pre-match, mid-match and post-match rituals, as well as lunch-rituals and dinner-rituals, not to mention the breakfast-rituals, the 5-am-rituals and the whenever-you-are-trying-to-sleep-rituals. I mean, all the others follow them as any true Charruterran would, but none of those three look enthusiastic when we start sacrificing the rubber chickens and so on. I mean, one would expect them to be, but no, they aren't. Maybe they're just not as keen on Sharuujpán as me. I might as well ask them soon. But, what if they do firmly believe in Sharuujpán and I'm just being slightly delusional, and I end up getting punched in the face for suggesting something so terrible. I mean, I can't think of an insult as terrible as indicating you do not believe in Sharuujpán, other than "foreigner", but that implies you do not believe in her anyway.

What a terrible day.
