End Classification

There is an end classification, with points for each race (stages equally, one-day races more but equally –except WC, a bit more- and GCs a bit more).
Points given are...
Single-day race: 75/65/58/51/44/39/34/30/26/23/20/17/15/13/11/10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 for the first 25 riders
World Tour Championship: 100/80/70/63/56/50/44/39/34/30/27/24/21/19/17/15/14/13/12/11/10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 to the first 30 riders
Stage of a stage race: 40/35/31/27/24/21/18/16/14/12/10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 for the first 20 riders

Youth Classification

Simply. All riders eligible with their points from the end classification.

Points Classifications

The points classifications for stage races will not count towards the WToC classification. Time trials are seen as a category B stage for the points classification whereas the others are seen as category A. (TTT does not count) The points will be distributed as follows:
Category A: Respectively 30/27/25/23/21/19/17/15/13/11/10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 points are distributed to the first twenty finishers.
Category B: Respectively 20/17/15/13/11/10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 points are distributed to the first fifteen finishers.
A rider can only be leader or, in case of the final stage, winner of the points classification competition if he has finished the stage in which the jersey was awarded.

General Classifications or GCs

Each stage race has a GC on time.

First cut-off: 9 september, 15h Paris, 14h London, 9h New York, 6h LA, 21h Manila

Onyx Marenisko already has developed a schedule for this event of who is riding in it. However we are awaiting all rosters being confirmed being confirmed before we do anything overly aggressive with displaying who is competing in each event.

WTOC 2 Preview


We go over the riders, the races and the teams.

D City, DLI-The WTOC season is just about to begin, and here is the down low: DC-C is hosting the WTOC champs, D Air has signed some foreign names, and they also got rid of Castellon, along with Oien.


THE RACES

This year DLI will host to races. The Tour of Columbia, in the north, and DC-C as the finale and WTOC Championships. As we did last season we count down the top 5 anticipated moments in the WTOC season.

5. Ciudad Sangti, Tour de Sangti.
The final day of the Tour of Sangti is a pure sprint. All the sprinters will be clamoring for the line, but they have to get here first. Last year both Sean Mcelroy and Boltov Larsson didn't start the stage after DNF-ing earlier. However if this does go down to the final meters look for Team GB, Brackenbury and D Air to fight it out for their respective sprinters.

4. Plav, The Panopticon Rally
This climb is the summit of the first stage of the rally and is truly horrendous. With some spots above 10%, this stage will set up the GC for the rest of the race. Look for Scott Perry, VDS and VDC to battle it out if they race.

3. Stage into Ranford, The Big Weekend
This wide open stage could be one for the punchers with the final sprint being uphill. Although the race was made for VDC last year, this stage should and could blow the race wide open. Being one of the first races in the season it will surely set the tone for the races to come.

2. 3rd Stage, Tour of Darmen
The hardest stage ever. Period. The stage starts features two HC climbs. This stage will not show who's the strongest rider, but it will show who's the guttiest. The stage is short, yet the seem to fit in 2 HC climbs in the 124km. Mt. Hogan kicks it off. If a rider is far behind on the GC he may attack from here. However the races is most likely to come down to Mt. Prynce. It's a long climb with only medial gradients, but in the final kilometer it starts to get into the 9% range. It wont be a sprint to the line, it'll be a drag. Scott Perry, should be the favorite, especially with home-mountain advantage.

1. Pave de Mauvais, D City-Crumpston
The Pave is the longest and hardest of all of the sections, literally meaning, the Bad Stones. It's proximity to the finish makes this section the ideal place to attack, and all the riders will be gunning for it, as it's the WTOC championship. DLI cycling will also be handing out ONE MILLION DOLLARS at the end of this day, for the combined DLI Champs. (see below). Simply, it's so hard, Jack Maddux wasn't able to get away last year and had to duke it out in a sprint.

OUR TEAM
D Air changed over the off season. We got two foreign riders who look to fill in some of our spots where we aren't as strong. In the dirt races we have Jack Maddux, the winningest rider in cycling history. He will now be helped by Jolyon Ridley, a fellow classics specialist and now Maddux's Super-Domestique. Those two will also look to finish high in the time trials. Speaking of time trials, new this year is the team time trial, a race D Air could be very powerful in. It will debut in the Race of Britain, where D Air will have all of there TT guys. On the GC side we shunned Gage Castellon, but Jack Willet will look to take his place. D Air management has promised to give more domestiques to Willet in the big stage races. Also Sean Mcelroy will look to continue his run of sprint wins, after taking the points classification at the Island Tour.

The Others
VDC vs. VDS take 3. VDS won the first WTOC and the Island Tour. He will be even stronger after his team management signed off other big riders such as Larsson and Ackermann. Add to that the fact that East-West has two GC riders, VDS looks poised to take his second WTOC and crown him as the greatest cyclist ever. Sangti looks to regather themselves after a low year and has signed off Raposas and Matundan. They could be a wildcard. Also Onyx Marenisko could play into the team race after they signed Gage Castellon. Drifting their focus away from dirt, Onyx could be a dark horse.

D City, DLI- The DLI cycling governing body, DLI Cycling, has decided to have a DLI COMBINED CUP. This competition will be won by the rider who has the best averaging finishing position in both the TOUR DE COLUMBIA and D CITY-CRUMPSTON. The winner of the cup will win $1,500,000 as well as the trophy. The winner of the competition will be decided shortly after the finish of DC-C. The trophy will be sponsored by Destination Hotels and Resorts, the world largest hotelier.

Kuester-Urlaubsonne rebrands as Vorangehen; unveils team before World Tour season.

There were some fears last season that the Profi-Radsport Gruppe wouldn't manage to get a new title sponsor for their cycling team and would have to go into the season with a severe lack of funding and unsponsored. Their fears were allayed when several different companies began a bidding war for the right to have their name splashed across team jerseys, coaches and other equipment. Urlaubsonne announced they were willing to stay on in a partnership with another sponsor, ABS looked to be the frontrunners but then technology firm Vorangehen made a bid that was too good to refuse and the furniture company and Urlaubsonne were out of the race. The grand unveiling belies the internal turmoil that preceded it, will the season be as bumpy for Team Vorangehen?

Everybody knew that Team Vorangehen were going to inherit the majority of the Kuester-Urlaubsonne squad, but it's not the same squad as last year at all. A couple of riders haven't renewed contracts and this has forced the team management to make some changes with regard to personnel. Trifon Baryshnikov didn't manage to actually get many of his first choice replacements though as the team missed out on Niklas Ackermann and former EastWest Energy rider Peter Coates. But even so, a couple of top foreign riders were brought in and a couple of promising young Mytanar riders were signed too. The latter is possibly the more savvy move as everybody can see the success of Preben Kvaal after his move from bit-part domestique to a true general classification contender after some excellent performances on the domestic scene, his win at the Tur Nasto making him the youngest ever winner of one of the two big 'Turs' (Tur Nasto or Tur Mytannion).

Wes van der Stijnen has been re-signed too, a three-year contract extension that is reportedly worth some serious money for the rider (and of course the team as well, it's a lucrative deal to have the man who won the first two Island Tours on board). It is rumoured that he is going to be the fulcrum of an impressive 'classics' squad this season, using his prowess on hilly terrain to win him at least one of the three Mytanar 'spring classics' that have formed a part of this World Tour season. He'll also be the favourite for Esca-Kitzbuhel on the domestic scene, where he won't face as much competition from top international riders. Wes is big money in Mytannion, even if the Ventilatori and those in the know understand that he's basically won two Island Tours by virtue of being a superb rider on a terrain the others just can't compete with him on and that he's not necessarily a 'traditional' GC contender. Innovation isn't considered to be a great thing in Mytanar cycling.

The Ventilatori will be appeased though, because Baryshnikov has finally engineered one of his younger riders into the form of a 'proper' GC contender. It is something he's been trying to do for years and only now has it come to fruition, Kvaal has been moulded into a top rider - one who has the ability to beat anyone in the mountains and attack relentlessly up there and can mix it in the time trials as well. If the Thessia native ever puts in an attack on a big climb, nobody will be able to catch him, ever. He's just that good when going away from the competition. He may need to improve his time trialling at some point, because those who can time trial better could beat him in the stage races that throw technical time trials at the competition. Kvaal will be a big talent this season and is expected to be the big contender in the stage races, with the Tour of Darmen already being earmarked as somewhere where he can prove himself. Baryshnikov has already stated that Wes van der Stijnen will actually be helping the younger rider there - and with van der Stijnen as a domestique, what more do you need?

Speaking of potential superdomestiques, Vegard Sorensen's contract has been retained. The contract he already had in place had three years to roll still and that same contract has been kept in place. Sorensen is of course, van der Stijnen's man and he will be helping Wes once again this season. Sorensen is expected to be given chances to shine himself though, with his (fairly) attacking nature and his ability going uphill being pretty good, he'll be expected to win at least one race this season. Pribram-Pahranichny, a stage in the Tour of Darmen, Tour de Columbia or the Tour de Sangti. All could be possibilities for him, he just needs chances. His helping will be the most important though, as he will be a key part in van der Stijnen's chances in the classics and in any stage races he will lead the team for.

Bradley Macleod and Max Trigg are two new boys to the team. Macleod is a Licentian who specialises in puncheur territory, he'll be a big help to van der Stijnen. The Licentian will only enhance Wes' already exceptional ability on the short, sharp rises and this will gain him success in pretty much any stage or one-day race that has several hills to deal with. Macleod is a coup, but the signing of Max Trigg could possibly be even more helpful. The Syndicatian isn't as one dimensional as his Licentian counterpart in the Vorangehen line-up, Trigg will support Preben Kvaal in both puncheur territory and in keeping him in touch when races come down to a sprint. That is of course, extremely important as we have seen in the Island Tour and the previous World Tour season as the final few hundred metres can be extremely hectic and it is important for GC contenders to get delivered safely to the line incident free.

Erik Karlsen returns, once again as van der Stijnen's domestique. Some in foreign media have described Erik Karlsen as 'van der Stijnen's little bitch', but the Team Vorangehen hierarchy deny that Erik Karlsen's contract includes a stipulation that he must give the two-time Island Tour winner foot rubs whenever he requests or that he must do Wes' laundry every week. Karlsen is once again employed in order to support the Pahranichny born van der Stijnen in the climbs and sprints. It will be interesting to see how often him and Sorensen will actually have to combine in order to support the man they're working for because of the noises the team has made about moving away from supporting van der Stijnen in stage races unless they suit his skill set and he wants to race them. We suspect it could be the third Island Tour before we see Karlsen and Sorensen racing together again.

Finally, Seth Lavik and Thorben Nekstad have been brought on board. Lavik is being utilised as domestique to Preben Kvaal on both hills and the dirt, with him specialising in cobblestone riding. It will be interesting to hear van der Stijnen's take on the signing of a rider who is good on the terrain that he loathes so badly. Of course, if he had his way, his team wouldn't enter races with rough terrain - but as a team that holds a professional race licence, they must enter every single World Tour race on the calendar with some team of one kind or another. Lavik is expected to be supported in Einderhill and D City-Crumpston and could be a surprise winner in them races, with his ability being fairly good and him probably being the one that team management will focus on in order to garner success, or at least a chance at it.

Thorben Nekstad is the last rider we have to talk about, he's 21 and he's a big name for the future. We say this and mean it in the exact same manner as we spoke of Niklas Ackermann in relation to Wes van der Stijnen a few years ago. In this case, it's Thorben Nekstad and Preben Kvaal. Kvaal is the main man, the one Nekstad is working for at the moment - but in a few years they could well be rivals. Both are superb climbers and Nekstad will be working for Kvaal in the high mountains of Darmen and doubtlessly in a few other places, but Nekstad will also be given chances for solo victories to try and make a name for himself. He could have a shout at Pribram-Pahranichny if he can negotiate the sharper hills there, the first stage of the Tour of Wray, any of the high mountains stages in Darmen or the first two stages of the Panopticon Rally could all be happy hunting grounds for him. Team Vorangehen will certainly hope so.

The team unveiling was certainly glamourous and it was clear to see a fair bit of money was spent on it, though many would argue that the sexy contemporary dancers and the jeep that the riders were delivered onto the stage in were both wholly unnecessary and the bewilderment on Vegard Sorensen's face would certainly suggest so but the pale green, white and black jerseys were revealed and that is the most important thing - that Mytannion has a World Tour team for this season. How successful will they be? Well, we'll preview that tomorrow. Onyx Marenisko Announcement

This new look Onyx team originally intended to leave dirt specialization behind, but in reality the team has made a push for more specialization beyond the cobble and dirt and has improved drastically on the hills and climbs. Certainly dirt is still a highly favorable surface for Onyx Marenisko, and might be stronger than ever. The team is in shape to be a stronger contender for tours with the improvements seen by signing Peter Coates and Gage Castellon, calling up Mia Garkovich from the Onyx development team, and luring Goran Sertich from the velodrome. Coates, Garkovich, and Castellon are far more dangerous on steep climbs than one would have expected in the past from Onyx Marenisko cyclists. Hills and dirt hills in particular are another area where Onyx Marenisko will shine although it will be Peter Coates, Kalle Markostrom, and Mia Garkovich leaving Mirela Blagojevic lagging behind a bit when it comes to dirt hill race settings. Sertich might not compete outside of an event or two however he does provide depth to this team.

That being said, the entries for Einderhill will be Mia Garkovich, Mirela Blagojevic, Kalle Markstrom, and Peter Coates.

"Hi. I'm Elias. I want to buy this team. How much is it?" Elias asked, when he approach Dato Ismael Putras to buy the Pangkat Pamintuan team. "I would want to rejuvenate this team."

Putras said. "I will sell it for just 1 NS Dollars. After all, my investment to this team all went to waste. Well, here are the paperwork and the contracts of the participants. Just tell me what you want. I'll tell the riders that the team had been sold."

"Wait sir, are these contracts expired? Can I not purchase them in this team?"

"Well... yes."

"I'll just tell them that their contracts were not purchased... Wait, I'll get Jebus' contract. I will make him a team leader of the future. I think this is a done deal right?"

"Yeah. Take these paperworks, and equipment in my garage, and get out of my sight. Now."

With Elias buying the team, included a franchise to enter in the World Tour, he sought for specialized riders in every specific category: dirt, climb, hill, etc. Along with Jebus, who impressed with a bronze medal in the Orean Olympics, he signed Eduardo Gaza, a hill specialist hailing from Vascue, Altheus Ambion who is an experienced climber from Mogya, Jovito Sollegue, a time trialist from Leonde, and young guns Theo Malit and Boo Cabatic from Baoyam and Nespa respectively.

They had the option to sign former Sangtian riders Bon Matundan and Winnie Raposas, but instead opted to sign foreign riders, Bledar Ahmedsovic of the Serbian Empire and Daniel Oien of the D Land and Isles will also banner this talented team.

He contracted Libertad Sportswear to make the cycling jerseys, and many sponsors joined in the team, including previous sponsors Iscrachi and Sepsi. This was the output for the jersey of the new team:

The team has entered Jebus, Eduardo, Altheus and Boo for the first event.



Winnie was happy to find a new team. After a disappointing run in the Attico's BDI team in the Second Island Tour, the Sangtian looked to revive his cycling career in the Wray's Brackenbury Cycling team. He hopes to be chosen to run the first round in Einderhill.

The same applies to Bon. After a very disappointing campaign for the Pangkat Pamintuan last season, he found a way to return to cycling, through the Darmen Airlines team. Like WInnie, he hopes to be chosen to run the first round in Einderhill and jumpstart his career in his new team.

Brackenbury Cycling have today released a press statement disclosing the four riders who will make up the team for the Einderhill CI

Ahead of the upcoming start of the WToC, we have been holding training events in Crystal Springs, and our team of coaches, along with Team Director Adrian Cook, have analyses the performances of each rider. They then met together at Brackenbury Cycling HQ in Cartersburg and decided on the four riders who'd ride out in the Einderhill CI:

Einderhill Cycling Int. to start off the tour

The World Tour of Cycling 2 is right around the corner, and to start off the tour is our own Einderhill Cycling International. This is the first time the Einderhill Cycling Festival takes on an international cycling race, and the first time one takes part in Bjormark as well. The race begins in Einderhill and goes to Foxmar, and then the riders will take another road back to Einderhill. And it's not just any road. It's the infamous B325 road between Foxmar and Einderhill, feared for its many cobbled sections who will give the riders many challenges. The race will end with one round at the Cycling Stadium in the Cycling District of Einderhill.

Team director of BjorSat Cycling Team has great expectations for the race.

- It's going to be a hell of a race, and the atmosphere along the course is going to be amazing.

- What can we expect of BjorSat?

- We're going for victory, of course. Our plans are ready and we hope we can bring Magnar (Stormberg) first over the finish line.

- Stormberg has won the 3 previous years already, what do you think of his chances this year?

- Well the previous years was not international, so obviously the competition will be tougher this time, but I believe he has a good chance this year too.

His main goal of the season: Tour of Darmen

Magnar Stormberg: Our 25 year old Prince Magnar Stormberg of Bjormark will be captain of the team in the sprint and dirt stages. He has won the Einderhill Cycling International (Then named Einderhill Cycling Classic) 3 times in a row and looks to win the international version too. This will be his main goal of the season. Will his royal blood lead him to glory?

DENNIS DALGAS: A very warm welcome to all of you for this, the start of KBT's exclusive live coverage of the World Tour of Cycling. This is Dennis Dalgas, and we begin as we mean to go on - with riders facing unpaved roads on unknown routes. It's the Einderhill Classic in Bjormark, and it has been likened to the legendary D City to Crumpston classic that serves as the World Tour Championship this year. In total, seven days of riding will feature significant unpaved sections - last year, there was just one. With several new teams in the fold, EastWest Energy making the dramatic signings of Niklas Ackermann and multiple Olympic medallists the Wild brothers, and the mighty Mytanar outfit Kuester-Urlaubsonne evolving into the new-look Team Vorangehen, so much could happen. You will find out what actually does here - happen here on KBT, with every race live. Our new commentary team of Pat Morrell and Thomas Sharpe are standing by in Bjormark, but we've got an in-studio panel here to discuss the start of the season before we get under way. Suzie Connor is the leader of the women's squad run by EastWest, Marceli Miazga covers Mytanar cycling for the Zube Daily Times, and Gideon Veidt should need no introduction - our first Olympic champion, now a writer for allthesport.kyp. We'll start with you, Marceli - for those who haven't been following what's been happening in Mytannion, could you briefly explain?

MARCELI: In short, the old team was sponsored by two companies, Kuester and Urlaubsonne, and Kuester in particular were worried that their sponsorship involvement in the sport would be problematic for them in the future in case the reputation of cycling was hit by drug scandals - Mytanar fans, who as you know are infamous for their fiery nature and their nationalism, were furious at EastWest Energy for their RPD use, some believing that illegal drugs were being used as well, and there was a sense that eventually a major scandal would emerge and neither company wanted to be involved in a sport whose name was through the mud. So they got out while they could, and of course with the team doing so well - Wes van der Stijnen in particular winning everything in sight, which for a puncheur is remarkable - there were lots of companies that did want to be associated with them, and technology firm Vorangehen came in with the highest bid.

DENNIS: A lot of people thought that Kuester-Urlaubsonne were also taking RPDs, even though it was officially denied - were those denials believed in Mytannion?

MARCELI: I think a lot of people chose to believe it, even if they had their doubts deep down. Even if they did, that doesn't take anything away from the achievements of Wes in particular.

DENNIS: You've obviously seen a lot of Niklas Ackermann - how useful will he be for EastWest?

MARCELI: What people outside of Mytannion forget is that not all Mytanars are solidly behind Wes - there's some serious in-fighting amongst the Ventilatori, the hardcore fans who have the reputation for being a little too fired up, and Niklas is a particular rival of his. He even acted as a domestique for VDC to help him get away from Wes once last season, when he rode for Team GHEK, and so there is no doubt he is going to be motivated. The question is exactly where he fits in - I don't think he'd want to be a domestique, but also I don't think he has the time trial ability to win the big stage races, certainly not yet. He might well be groomed to do that, but in the meantime I think the mountain classics will be his stomping ground, he's more attacking than Croker so that suits him well. I expect those two will act as a double-team, knowing that rivals will have it a lot tougher covering both when they don't know which of them will pounce.

DENNIS: Gideon, do you think that would be a good tactic?

GIDEON: It's been the nearly tactic for them before, to have a two-pronged attack - and of course, VDC is still in this team, though I think he's going to be targeted for the flatter stage races with time trials, this year's calendar really doesn't suit him, if the Tour of Colombia had an individual TT instead of a team one I'd fancy him for that - but I think that this team is loaded with talent, they're going to chase race wins and stage wins wherever they can, and Ackermann definitely brings something to the table there.

DENNIS: And certainly the Wild brothers will be in the stage win mix.

GIDEON: Without a doubt - they are frightening sprinters, I'd say better than even Botolv Larsson and Sean McElroy, they've been winning track races and road races at the same time - they're incredible athletes, they could dominate in every sprint finish they contest. The only problem for them is that all of those finishes are at the end of stage races this year, which is going to be slightly odd.

DENNIS: Suzie, I know you're wishing you were out there yourself - some of the teams are mixed-gender, after all - but how do you feel your team will do?

SUZIE: I'd love to be part of it as you said - and Nanami Watanabe has certainly proven that the women can mix it with anyone, with the rainbow jersey from the World Tour Championship TT and that dominant gold in Orean as well - and the schedule just makes me feel I should be, because of my multi-terrain background, I'd have fitted the calendar much better than some of the others but that's just the way it's gone. Nevertheless, I think that there are so many threats on this team that they are still going to be one of the dominant forces.

DENNIS: Thanks for that, everyone - and now we go over to our commentators, Pat Morrell, and first Thomas Sharpe.

THOMAS: It's a wonderful morning, and the dawn of a new season, a new era perhaps - an awfully different look to the schedule, and so many new contenders, new teams, riders moving between teams, it's been a very interesting off-season, and Pat, we're about to see exactly where it's led.

PAT: We absolutely are, and it's going to be very enjoyable to find out exactly - what comes to it, I think both of the top two teams are - in some ways almost weaker in terms of how they're suited to - sort of races, I think - there's going to be a lot of difficulty for both of them to settle down - I think Vorangehen may be the better equipped side but - equipped squad - but also there's an awful lot of difficulty in terms of them, they've lost riders who are going to be very difficult to replace, and actually so have EastWest with Peter Coates, they could have used him with this schedule, last year he was pretty useless but this year they could actually have done with him.

Einderhill CI beckons

As the first event of the World Tour of Cycling 2 beckons Team TGB strengthened by the arrival of Brian Robinson look to continue their decent run of form from the Second Island Tour into this World Tour. TGB's problem in the Second Island Tour was that they got off to a flying start but then dropped back and tapered off midweek. As a result the team will look for consistency early on and this has to be started with good result in Einderhill.

Bradley Wiggins stated in the team press conference early this morning that he feels that 'the team are in a perfect position to move forward and cement ourselves as a nation of cycling talent for a generation'. That is and has to be the aim. Secretary for Culture Arthur Henderson has put in a lot of time, work and publicity into the cycling scheme named 'CycleBritain' and it is aimed at creating a hopeful period of dominance of cycling in the world for TGB.

BBC have purchased all the rights and coverage for this and it will all be covered so Einderhill CI will be on terrestial television over the next two months.

Positivity is high in TGB and the fans are going to get really behind this. This is of stark contrast to the Darmen media outlets who are currently slamming the tour for not having enough mountainous areas. Dave Brailsford had this to say in reply 'Well look they set their team up and they take the risk. If they are not going to be more rounded then it is a chance that they have to take.'

The dirt track which hosts the Einderhill race is perfectly suited for Chris Boardman and Brian Robinson although Bradley Wiggins is expected to perform fairly well in this race too. The four man roster will undoubtedly be expected to be near the top with David Millar acting as domestique.

Hopes for Perry don't look good, Tour of Darmen only race with major opportunities for Climbers

Scott Perry isn't expecting to compete for the WTC Championship. This season, most races involve dirt courses, or small hills, with only a few races even including any mountains. Of course the Tour of Darmen is back for a third time, this time split into four stages instead of three. Health and Safety and all that. So that's it. We'll see you at the Tour of Darmen. Have fun watching all the other riders go on boring rides that are only decided in the final 200 meters. Yeah, fun.

World Tour of Cycling Season Preview

It's going to be a big season in the World Tour of Cycling, mainly because of some of the momentous changes that have taken place. Riders have changed their allegiance, teams have come and gone and new races have appeared while some of the much loved races from the previous season have also disappeared altogether. It's going to be a tough year, especially for our very own Team Vorangehen as they introduce some new young riders into the squad and have also signed-up some foreign riders for the very first time. They'll have to learn to combine them riders in the best manner possible in order to garner success throughout the World Tour season, especially if they want to live up to Kuester-Urlaubsonne's success. Perhaps the most contentious decision on this particular roster is the implied co-leadership strategy that seems to be employed, something that was knocked by just about everybody (including ourselves) when EastWest employed it last season.

This season we have 13 races making up the calendar, twenty eight days of torture for the riders and there can only be one true victor at the end of it. Many consider the World Tour General Classification winner to be the best cyclist in the world, Wes van der Stijnen is currently that man and he is considered by some to be the man who could go and do it again. His success in the 2019 Island Tour acting as a catalyst for the journalists to put him in pole position here too. People shouldn't start making predictions so soon though, especially when Preben Kvaal seems to be the man the team will work for in the mountainous stage races. Wes may not be the leading contender within his own team. This division of resources - something which was attacked repeatedly by Mytanar press when EastWest Energy employed it last season - seems to be something that is inevitable this year, if the team want to be successful anyway. Their leaders will have to be helped on different terrains for them to get overall honours. Let's look at the races on the calendar this season:

#1. Einderhill Cycling International - Bjormark.
This is one of them races that Wes van der Stijnen really hates. It has lots of cobblestones and is one of the seven races that have at least some 'dirt' in them. For Team Vorangehen, this will be a race where the team works around young Seth Lavik. He's one of few Mytanar riders that have managed to acclimatise to cobbles and gravel roads and that's a necessity because of his place of birth being Prizren, which is of course well known for being largely cobbled within Mytannion. He'd be a favourite for Jelenia-Prizren if it weren't for the many hills between Jelenia and the finish line. But that's a different race and this one could be one he competes in, he'll need some help though. Looking at foreign riders, the home favourite Magnar Stormberg could be in with a shout. Jack Maddux from D Air is a perennial favourite on the cobbles and he'll probably win it here too.

#2. Kytlerian Big Weekend - Kytler Peninsulae.
Team Vorangehen will be looking for a top ten finish here in a stage race which is just a little different from the rest, Wes van der Stijnen could do decently here but nobody can truly see him winning it. The first stage doesn't suit him ideally and the time trial is his enemy as always in his aspirations for general classification success. Wes will be the man for Vorangehen here, but other teams will look towards the time trialling GC contenders. Pieter-Jan van der Capellen has to be considered the favourite overall, the likes of TGB's Bradley Wiggins will challenge. In terms of outside bets, Gage Castellon could well be where the clever money is put. He'd require a lot of luck, but he could well surprise a few people.

#3. Jelenia-Prizren - Mytannion.
The first of the three Mytanar spring classics, Vorangehen will have this earmarked for a definite victory. Wes van der Stijnen will be the team leader with the 257 kilometre classic featuring no less than 6 sharp rises, the longest being a 4km section with an average gradient of 8%. The race enters the city of Prizren after 220 kilometres and then does some circuits of the Ancient City's famous cobbles before finishing with the final 2 kilometres going up uphill on a really technical cobbled section. It suits van der Stijnen's abilities in terms of the hills, but will he deal with the cobbles as well? We'll see. International riders could have a good go at this historic race and we're looking right at Kytlerian rider Peter Coates. I'm putting a bet on him to win, a smart gambler would agree with me.

#4. Thessia-Thyssia - Mytannion.
If Team Vorangehen had race three of the season earmarked as their first victory, they can only hope to follow that up in the second of the spring classics. Thessia-Thyssia is all hills as the race follows almost a big loop to go from the bigger of the two sister cities to the smaller of the pair. Thessia is the biggest city in Mytannion and the Ventilatori will be out in force along the course, which is all puncheur territory. 9 hills, with a mixture between short, sharp rises between 1.5-2km at 10-14% and a couple of longer ones around 2.5-3.5km at 8-12% will really test the riders. It's going to be between the true puncheurs this one, Wes van der Stijnen, Tom Simpson, Hunter Campana and possibly Niklas Ackermann will duke it out in a sprint between those who can escape over the hills.

#5. Pribram-Pahranichny - Mytannion.
Team Vorangehen have a selection problem for this one, they can't actually announce on team leader because they have four riders who can really challenge for this race which is a mixture between a queen's stage of a grand tour and a stage geared towards a breakaway winning. It has no fewer than three high mountains and seven hills. The race finishes up the Kamyk, a 20 kilometre col with an average gradient of 7.4%, maxing out at 10.2% towards the top. Pahranichny is van der Stijnen's hometown and this is very much 'VDS Country', a rival of his dares to win here at his peril. Even Vorangehen are rumoured to be throwing wins away for the likes of Kvaal, Sorensen and Nekstad in order to work for the home favourite. We don't dare even predict a foreign winner.

#6. Tour of Wray - Wray.
We come off the back of the Mytanar spring classics straight onto a four day stage race where the riders have to deal with a good range of surfaces in order to win the race overall. Climbs, dirt, a time trial and then a final sprint will make this a test of the true all-rounders. It will be whoever can combine climbing and cobbles or climbing and time trialling that will win this race overall, which really throws it wide open. Preben Kvaal will be the Vorangehen man, probably backed up by Lavik, Trigg and Nekstad. Nekstad will be given licence to breakaway on Stage 1, a solo win there would probably be considered a success for the team. Outside of Kvaal and his squad, I think you have to look at Ben Croker of EastWest and maybe Mia Garkovich of Onyk Marinesko if she gets lucky on the dirt.

#7. Race of Britain - Toby's Great Britain.
A team time trial. So dull. Who can win it? Well nobody can really be sure, historically it'd be said that EastWest Energy are the team with the best overall squad. I'm actually struggling to think of who Vorangehen will enter for this race, it'll be van der Stijnen and Kvaal definitely. But who else? Possibly Nekstad, maybe Macleod or Trigg? I'm unsure. This is one race nobody can make an accurate prediction for until it is actually revealed who will be competing. Even then I'm sure it will be difficult. It's a tough one, this.

#8. Tour of Darmen - Darmen.
Oh wow. Mountains and lots of them, the time trial in this race is almost irrelevant really because the time gaps will be so big in the high mountains that losing time on a time trial will be the least of any of the mountain goat's worries. Preben Kvaal will be the Vorangehen captain for this one, Thorben Nekstad will be given licence to go for a stage win in either the first stage or the latter two. Scott Perry will be the favourite here, but EastWest will once again be fierce contenders for the overall honours. Ben Croker supported by Niklas Ackermann is a potent combination and it could be a three-way showdown for the general classification here. Kvaal vs Perry vs Croker. I don't know who to call as the winner!

#9. Tour de Columbia - D Land and Isles.
A team time trial, a stage which features both hills and some serious climbing and then a sprint. I have a feeling that this race will be won in stage two. The question is - for Team Vorangehen at least - who do they send to compete in this race? Wes van der Stijnen and Preben Kvaal will be equally helpful in the team time trial and both have skills to bring to the stage where it will probably be won. Could it be a co-leader strategy? I can already hear the Ventilatori crying out with shame laced in their voices. Once again it could be EastWest Energy who send the man to win and we're going to go for a slightly controversial opinion. Maybe it would be a tour suited towards Niklas Ackermann? If you put him with some strong time triallists, he could dominate the second stage on terrain he knows well. If Ackermann is supported well, he could win this. That could appease the Ventilatori, maybe.

#10. SJG Endurance - San José Guayabal.
Hills! It's Wes van der Stijnen territory once again and the puncheur who could win general classification honours will probably return to his roots here and will be one of the favourites for the race victory. Puncheurs take note, we expect Vorangehen to change strategy a fair bit - especially where Wes van der Stijnen is concerned. It may be more difficult to win these now as he will be involved and won't be focussing on stage races anymore. Classics could be his bread and butter this year.

#11. Panopticon Rally - The Serbian Empire.
This is a strange one, a lot of it seems to be going uphill. I'm going to say it'll be Preben Kvaal leading the team for Team Vorangehen here, but it could just as easily be van der Stijnen or even Sorensen or Macleod. It's a tough race, you have to be competent in both real high mountains and in puncheur territory and have at least some nous in dealing with 'dirt'. It's a real all-rounders effort and there are very few riders who are top class in three different terrains. It's hard to make a call on this one, truly.

#12. Tour de Sangti - Sangti.
We expect this to be Wes van der Stijnen's last stage race before the Island Tour and so it would make sense for Baryshnikov to send him as a part of the team in order to get him some race shape on a variety of terrains and also some form. Wes should deal with Stage 1 and Stage 3 fairly well, but will have to rely on his team for Stage 2 and that could be problematic. We can't see him winning this, Dictine could have a winner here with Hunter Campana who is a genuine all-rounder, he's not great in a couple of disciplines but he's good enough in several. He could have his chance here if he is given it, it'd be well deserved for him as well.

#13. WTC - D City-Crumpston - D Land and Isles.
The World Tour Championship. A big race for everybody and this year it will be one for the dirt specialists, Peter Coates has to be considered the early favourite with the Kytlerian being imperious on the surface that so many other people struggle on. Team Vorangehen don't really have a go-to guy for this surface but it will be young Seth Lavik and he will be given his chance here. If Lavik wins there'll be huge surprise from everyone back home in Mytannion, never mind everywhere else, but he has the potential to go and do it, that's for sure.

It's a huge season. We hope this has cleared things up at least a little for you.

(OOC: As mentioned before, I'm hoping to do some character-based RPs, in this case mixing both the riders from Zwangzug and my puppets' free agents--so for these purposes just assume that they're all, like, hanging out together? I might feel like including the foreign riders competing for Dictine too, so if I get your character "wrong" in anyway please let me know! Also I shouldn't be on a first-name basis with these characters, too many with the same initial. Bah.)

Rosin Lurint gave a deep, hearty yawn.

An uncharitable commentator would have noted that this did certain popular stereotypes of people from Earent as being on the lazier side no favors. Fortunately for Lurint, more or less, Eduino Silvero was either feeling charitable, or just didn't know enough about Earent to have heard of the stereotypes. "List done yet?" he called.

"No," Rosin replied, with a shrug that matched the energy in the yawn.

Eduino tried to scan what was left of the schedule, glare tightening slightly as he looked through several more countries he was equally unable to find on a map.

"Maybe still changing," Rosint offered. "New races to come? Maybe in Zwangzug."

"Sounds fun," said Eduino, and the brief smile they shared showed that, at least, sarcasm surpassed all language barriers.

"You guys'll do great," called Rachel Tosen-Ragane.

"Thanks," said Eduino. He didn't really believe it. But it was good to know that at least one of team Dictine actually cared about doing great, compared to doing mediocrely.

"Hey." Rosin waved to Rudy Parre-Elfori. "You were here, last time. Any hints?"

"Uh...you know, if you're taking a doping test, try not to miss. The cup. The last thing you need is to need to do another take. Double-check all your equipment, but don't throw off your groove. Different countries will be different than others."

"Yeah," said Rachel, "and specifically, your teammates and leaders will have advice for you about being...teammates. You should be asking them."

"We're not actually...er. Domestiques," Eduino ventured. Chalk that up on the list of "English words he was probably never going to have learned in Zwangzug." His friends had started the list on his behalf. Mostly curses. Some more that required more of a free market.

"Right," said Rosin. "See? Got signed in the end. No time to change...help anyone. Fine waiting till last. Worked out."

"Then we'll have taught you well," Rudy smirked, "just like back in Zwangzug, you'll do great.'

"Well not just like in Zwangzug," Rachel muttered, "there's all the big peloton sections..." She trailed off, clearly conscious she was--as the youngest person in the room by any measure--sliding perilously close to really being the one looking to Rudy for advice.

"You see the problem," Rosin said bluntly.

And that was the long and short of it--Zwangzug in all their cosmopolitan pride/lack of pride had been the place that reached out, to train the racers who were by some distance their countries' only hopes in cycling, and they had to sit there and pretend that they were grateful for all of it. Some training. At least there were no literal trains involved, although Eduino had already dealt with more of them than he'd really ever needed to see.

"One race at a time. It's not like--total time, even if you sit this one out, even if you crash and get hurt, you're still in it," said Rudy. "You'll be fine."

After the Dictine riders had seen themselves out, Rosin turned to Eduino. "Silvero, can I ask you something?"

"Yeah?"

"Why do you bike?"

He paused. "Because it's faster than running."

Info on first stage
Type: dirt-hill (though more hill than dirt)
Starting point: Carmina - a small port town in the state of Burana, on the northern peninsula's south-west tip. The town's nationally famous Carmina Orchestra will provide a rousing prelude to the race from a bandstand by the waterside start! This is the first time the Big Weekend has gone to Burana, the only state which has refused to change its May Day holiday to Armed Forces Day (not coincidentally, the state has been largely starved of funds by the conservative federal government as a result). Ironically, the one state that the Big Weekend has not been to is now the ultra-conservative Varn, whose state government refuse to provide funding to PPP LLP (or anything much else except pensions).
Finishing point: Ranford - a cosy coastal resort. The route goes through neighbouring Willsbrook immediately beforehand - the two are essentially one conurbation, though Ranford is more raucous and youthful, whilst Willsbrook is more sedate with a large retired population. (UK people; think Brighton and Hove, but quite a lot smaller.)
Amount of kilometres: 181.4
Description of obstacles (hills, dirt type, mountains, ..): After around 25km, the race runs through Roddens, the largest city in the north-west, and the home city of Olympic champion sprint cyclists Joke Ter Haar and Lauren Muller (the former also won the individual event, making her the country's most successful female and summer Olympian). The route covers 1.5km of cobbles in the city centre, though these are relatively recently laid and very well maintained (they were added as part of a government programme to pedestrianise town and city shopping areas). Thereafter, the route largely follows minor rural roads, typically with gravel surfaces, through rolling hills. There are eight classified climbs, only three of them on good tarmac roads - and one of those is Churling Pike at 125km (2.5km at 10.7%), which is considered a Category 2. From 170km to 177km, there is a very technical descent into Willsbrook, then an 800m cobble section along the main shopping street.
Description of last kilometre: From 2km out, it's flat and straight with the sea to the right and picturesque buildings, most of which were constructed by some of the first European settlers on Kytlerian soil around 100 years ago in a sometimes overly-ornate mock-Georgian style, to the left. Then the route turns off the promenade, and ascends 29m in the final 400m sprint to the finish at the historic St Margaret's Church.

Team lineup for The Big Weekend in Kytler Peninsulae: Jebus Ongkingco, Eduardo Gaza, Jovito Sollegue, Bledar Ahmedsovic

No fancy team launches - Equipo Imargon (-Samson Delilah) team launch


Unlike last year, there were no fancy introductions, or wishy-washy launches. It was just a simple team launch at Bjomark for the team. Elias answered many of the journalists' questions. Some of these were the decision to offload Bon Matundan and not picking up Winnie Raposas' contract. He simply said, "It's time for them to move on, but I am happy to see them in this event." Matundan and Raposas now suit up for Darmen Airlines and Brackenbury Cycling respectively.

Another question Elias took a long time to answer was about Samson Delilah's rage after the team names have been released. "I apologize to our co-sponsors if they were not included in the official team name for this World Tour.I hope we maintain our good relationship with them. For now, can you just call our team Ciclismo Tenafrancia unofficially, if that is alright?"

Meanwhile, over the back stage of the team launch, Jebus noticed the pair of old teammates. He talked to them for a while.

"Good luck in the team. I hope you have grown much of an experience after the Orean race."

"Yeah. I'll improve, and I hope to reach your levels soon."

The three exchanged embraces and the two left. Jebus had a shaky presscon, but he was able to answer all questions and presented the team, including the four riders who will be watching in the sidelines.

The Einderhill CI started, and all the riders went out the gates safely. The trio of Boo, Jebus and Eduardo were close at first, while Altheus experienced problems with his bike. His chains started to give in, and was finally broken. This lost his control and crashed into the dirt. He was alright, but the bike did not. He retired while his other teammates approach him for preliminary treatment.

The next kilometers saw Jebus fall back behind the pair and the old teammates were near him. They were close now at the middle of the park. Meanwhile, Boo and Eduardo were nearing the top ten, which were not dominated by the Serbians, and also members of the Onyx team.

Boo tried to push further to the top, but with a few kilometers left, he was far off the leaders. Finish line.

Boo finished ninth in the race, one minute and fifty-four seconds behind while Eduardo finished twenty-first, six minutes behind. Meanwhile, Jebus finished 12 minutes behind Mia Garkovich of Onyx Marenisko, and most importantly, behind his old teammates Bon and Winnie.

There were no indications whether Bon or Winnie would suit up for their teams in the Big Weekend. But Elias has decided to drop Boo for the Big Weekend despite his high finish. He only considers Jebus to be the leader of his team. He also dropped Altheus to heal his minor injuries. He called up Jovito Sollegue and Bledar Ahmedsovic of the Serbiam Empire.

Elias is hoping for bigger things to come in the Big Weekend.

In a disappointing first stage Tobys Great Britain competitors finished 7th (Boardman), 10th (Robinson), 22nd (Wiggins) and 43rd (Millar). Mia Garkovich of Oynx Marenisko took the honours in the Einderhill Cycling International.

Garkovich broke away on a solo escape before the last 10km to claim the 201-kilometer stage starting in the city of Jelenia, passing through Bjormark territory, and finishing at the summit.

The sublime Garkovich, riding for Oynx, crossed the finish line in 5 hours, 11 minutes, 58 seconds. Jack Maddux was second, 49 seconds behind, and Magnar Stormberg was third before the group of favorites finished together with Seth Lavik in front.

"I wasn't able to enjoy it until the last two kilometres," Chris Boardman said after the first stage team win of his career. "You never know if you are empty and it could mean the end. It has been my best day. Still nowhere near good enough though. Seventh is poor"

Bradley Wiggins, the Tour of TGB winner, never showed his good form by staying outside the top twenty along the likes of Judd Ninnici, Michael Schultz, and Eduardo Gaza each time they tried to pull away.

"It was a tough day. It was very cold and windy," Wiggins said. "Besides, Gaza and Schultz tried to attack. I tried to attack as well, but with the wind blowing against me I couldn't pick up the pace. I felt strong but I preferred to save my energy for what's to come."

Rain and cold temperatures forced 6 riders to retire- with some showing signs of extreme tiredness- during Mondays uphill ride into Bjormark. Another 10 riders, including world road race champion Brian Robinson couldn't do as well as expected.

However tomorrows line up of Bradley Wiggins (C), Mark Cavendish, Chris Boardman and Tom Simpson are expected to cover the Dirt, Hill, TT and Sprint aspects perfectly as well giving the opportunity to Wiggins and Boardman to surge up the General Classification.

Chris Boardman has really impressed this year and at this rate he will be unseating Bradley Wiggins as main man next season. He is proving himself in TT, dirt races and road races. Wiggins will also look to stamp his authority whilst Simpson/Cavendish will look to the points.

Impressive form from Lavik; Preview of Mytanar spring classics.

Seth Lavik finished 4th in the first race of the season, Einderhill Cycling International in Bjormark, an impressive result for the 24 year old. He joined a break that went to the end from a good distance with some of the pre-race favourites, losing out on the final cobblestone sections where the decisive attacks were made and then narrowly missing out on a podium place after a sprint from the rest of the attackers. Now we shall preview the three biggest races on the calendar (from a Mytanar perspective anyway), the Spring Classics.

#1. Jelenia-Prizren. 257 kilometres. Hill/Cobblestones.
The first of the trio, Jelenia-Prizren, 'die Feder' is the traditional heralding of the season of Spring within Mytannion - and that means the start of the cycling season domestically. Here, it's not got quite the same gravitas but it is still an important race as it heralds the start of three big races in the World Tour calendar. Jelenia-Prizren is an interesting race because it is one of few Mytanar races that include any form of rough terrain, or 'dirt' as the international community might call it. Even then, it is in small amounts, but the positioning of it within the race makes it a big part of deciding where the race win will end up. Wes van der Stijnen has won this race once, back in 2017 and it's his sort of territory. There are six sharp hills between the coastal town of Jelenia and its small fishing port and the Ancient City of Prizren, the cultural hub of (arguably) the whole of Mytannion.

The first of the six comes after 30km and is just a taster for what comes after, a 2km rise with an average gradient 7%. The next three are all fairly similar, all being between 1 and 2 kilometres and all being between 8.5-10% average gradient. These are the hills that will begin to split the competition, before the break group will be broken up by a 4km hill with an average gradient of 8%. Then finally comes the final hill before the flat run around the city of Prizren, a 3km-long sharp rise with an average gradient of 6.5%. Then comes a 37 kilometre circuit around the Ancient City, over the dreaded cobbles before the final two kilometres arrive and the breakers will head uphill once again, with a 6% gradient all the way up and some technical cobbled areas, this is a real tough finish to a tough race.

#2. Thessia-Thyssia. 268 kilometres. Hills.
As we have mentioned in previous articles, Team Vorangehen probably will look to this one as their first big 'real' hope of the season for glory. They'll expect a man in their colours to cross the line with his arms aloft (whether it's Wes van der Stijnen or Bradley Macleod is another question). The first of the three Spring Classics has a lot of hills, but this one differs, with the hills coming in larger numbers and being a lot steeper. It is true puncheur territory, with sharp rises on short climbs being the real story of this race. It's one that Wes van der Stijnen has never won, although his team mate Preben Kvaal has, his success coming last season in rather surprising fashion as nobody expected him as a climber to be able to break the way he did over the sharper climbers, it's not as much of a grind as he is used to. Still, he managed it and it was good preparation for his Tur Nasto - could it play the same role for Wes van der Stijnen this year? Well, with the Tur Nasto route covering more hills than high mountains this year - quite possibly. Let's look at the par cours.

9 hills. A mixture between short, sharp rises between 1.5-2km at 10-14% and a couple of longer ones around 2.5-3.5km at 8-12%. Everybody predicts the winner will come from a sprint between a group of around six riders. The first climb comes after 110km, giving the riders an easy introduction to an otherwise tough race. A 3.5km hill at 12% really shocks the riders into it, especially as only six kilometres after this comes a 2km drag at 14%. It settles down a little then and a break should be allowed to go for the next 25 kilometres until the next big drag, a 3km hill at 10% and then a 1.5km hill at 12.5% average gradient and then only five kilometres later is the 2km/11% hill that really breaks things apart. Five of the nine hills down, 153 kilometres into the race. A large downhill section comes, a breakaway won't be caught along here, with around 15km all going downhill. It then flattens out for around another 20km and then comes another sharp section, 2km at 13% will break anyone left here in a breakaway group and even if there are chances aplenty for the peloton to reform throughout the race, it's difficult to see anything other than a breakaway going the distance. We get well beyond the 200km mark before the 7th and 8th hills, which come within three kilometres of one another. 3.5km at 8% and then 2km at 11% following the 230km mark and then the final climb comes after 257km, a 2km rise at 14% to break everything open - whether it be a peloton that has reformed and gotten to this point, or a breakaway that has split from the rest - any riders that succeed at getting away over here should go the final nine kilometres and contest the race victory.

#3. Pribram-Pahranichny. 192 kilometres. Hills/Mountains.
Wes van der Stijnen's hometown, if he wins here, the place will party into the night. It doesn't fit his skill down to the ground, but if he can survive on the tough high mountains with the help of Vegard Sorensen, he stands a good chance of succeeding on the hills and possibly gaining a gap which could even let him survive all the way up the Kamyk. A mountain finish certainly doesn't suit him, but Kvaal, Nekstad and Sorensen could be licking their lips at the opportunity to contest such a tough race. The likes of Ackermann, Croker and Perry will be present - but nobody can predict a foreign winner when the best cyclist our nation has ever produced (and arguably the world's best ever, his palmares is near complete if he can win one other big stage race), is the hometown boy and has the support of the Ventilatori in this area well and truly behind him, as for the race itself:

Three high mountains, with some hills sprinkled in between them. First the Riegrova, a 12km climb with an average of 6.5%. There is then two hills, the first coming 27km after the Riegrova and being 2km long at 8% and the second being 1km long at 11%. Then after another 33km of cycling comes another three hills, the first at 2.5km at 9%, the second 1.5km at 12% and the third being 2km at 10%. These three come in close succession of one another and the race profile will show this. Following this there is a 10km climb with an average of 4.5%, then a 15km bumpy section, then two more smaller, sharper hills, one at 2.5km, 8% and the second at 2.5km, 9%. Then, finally, comes the big one. The Kamyk, 20 kilometres long with an average gradient of 7.4% and ramps as steep as 10.2% near the top. The race ends at the top of the Kamyk and this col is very near van der Stijnen's birth place, the city of Pahranichny. 192km classic this, and every single kilometre will hurt for any riders that have completed any race preceding this.




Up next for Team Vorangehen is the Kytlerian Big Weekend, however, and directeur sportif Trifon Baryshnikov has announced the team to be one that is searching for a stage win in either the opening stage or in Stage 3. It is unlikely either will be achieved however without a rider who can mix it on both hills and dirt or an out-and-out sprinter who can beat the opposition in the manner Botolv Larsson did regularly last season. Max Trigg, the Syndicatian domestique may be the only one who comes close to fulfilling the role this season but even he doesn't have anything on the likes of Larsson and hasn't actually been included in the team. Larsson could well be a contender for both the opening stage and Stage 3, if he can fight his way over the gravel and cobbles and the hills he will out sprint anybody in any remaining group. His concern will be getting to that stage, however.

Wes van der Stijnen has been included and will be the team leader, Vegard Sorensen, Bradley Macleod and Erik Karlsen have all been included. This blatantly shows that the intent is to support van der Stijnen and get him the victory, Sorensen and Macleod will be key supports in the opening stage and it is expected that Wes' big target for this race will be to win the first stage of the three, rather than any overall honours. There can't be designs on overall victory because of the time trial, it isn't suited to Wes in the slightest and unless he pulls some huge form out of the bag he won't achieve a general classification win. Top ten in the GC will be the aim for the team and a stage victory wouldn't go amiss and with some of the exploits under their previous guise of Kuester-Urlaubsonne, nobody would be surprised to see Team Vorangehen actually achieving their goals.

Anyways, I’m loving it in Zwangzug. I met up with the Dictine guys a couple of weeks ago, we’ve been training for a wee while now. Well, I say “we”; it’s not really been working together, since, as you probably know, they’re all lone wolves around here. I don’t mind that; I got into cycling to relax myself, and being out on the road on my own is good. Plus, when we finish our runs, the guys are friendly enough, and we have a good chance of doing well this season; maybe we’ll even beat you and the god that is VDS !!

I’m very happy with how I did in Einderhill. I mean, the place suited my mountain biking roots down to the ground, and twelfth out of sixty isn’t too bad, especially for my first appearance on the Tour, with no real helpers, and being the best performer on my team, for that matter. You did well, even if you were a couple behind me; plus, it sounds like you helped out a little getting Lavik into fourth.

Right, I should probably be off. On my way to the airport for the Big Weekend. Good luck, and I’ll see you at St Margaret’s Church !!

Yeah, Mytannion, here I come. They seem nice enough around here, despite the stereotypes you hear. Wes, Preben and the rest all seem welcoming, helping out around the place, getting me in the mood for races. I have to get to know Wes properly, after all; I’m going to be spending a lot of time with him, at the end of the day, since I’m normally going to be giving him a hand on the hills.

No, there’s no drugs going round, if that’s what you mean. What with Wes being a champion, if there were, he’d have been caught by now, and anyway, you know I’m not stupid enough to get involved with all that.

And yes, I know you’re serious. That’s another reason I won’t get into all that.

The training, that’s tough. This is serious stuff, not like back home; there’s all sorts going on to get us prepared. I’m loving it though. Yeah, I didn’t do too bad. I can’t say that I helped Seth; I’m being given the job of helping VDS, as I said, and he wasn’t racing here, though I presume he will for the Big Weekend. Garkovich Wins, Radnicki and Castellon Scheduled To Make Season Debut In Big Weekend

Yes, Onyx won the race and dominated the teams overall with Mirela Blagojevic bringing up the rear in a strong 13th finishing behind Mia Garkovich by three minutes and ten seconds. Mia joins the elite category of Nanami Watanabe of Dictine as one of the few female stage winners. Behind Garkovich was Jack Maddux, local favorite, Magnar Stormberg, fellow young rider candidate Seth Lavik, teammate Kalle Markstrom, and the former Onyx domestique Jolyon Ridley. Peter Coates produced a remarkable 8th place finish and contributed to the successful run of Garkovich.

That being said, the Onyx lineup for the Kytlerian Big Weekend will be Mia Garkovich, Gage Castellon, Tomasz Radnicki, and Peter Coates. The justification of Garkovich given the first stage of the Big Weekend makes a possibility of a stage win likely. Gage Castellon is a premier time trialist at least given his Olympiad performance as of late. Radnicki is widely considered as even better although he greatly disappointed in the Olympiad. Peter Coates is pretty much tied to Garkovich as a domestique given the nature of the first stage. It wouldn't be out of the question that Jack Maddux wins the overall Big Weekend and will only be hampered by the hill component of the opening stage where Garkovich and Coates might pull away to a sizable lead.

Mediocre Start for Farx Cycling


Welsh Cowboy's debut in international cycling was mediocre at best, as the team struggled through the one-day Einderhill Cycling International.

The event, taking place in the nation of Bjormark, opened the World Tour of Cycling 2, and for the first time, a Welsh Cowboy team was riding in an international cycling event, as four Welsh Cowboy riders from Farx Cycling Team took on the dirt race.

Farx Cycling received a blow just forty-five minutes before the start, as Farx dirt specialist Tyler McHutton, a 29-year old former ice cream vendor who had been slated to lead the squad into the Einderhill, was ruled out of the race with an undisclosed "minor" leg injury. Team director John Millings released a short statement to the media, which read in its entirety:

Farx Cycling Team rider Tyler McHutton will not start the Einderhill Cycling International today, because of a minor leg injury which team doctors determined is serious enough to warrant withdrawal. He will be replaced in the lineup by James Gallagher, joining Adam Montezzaro, Richard Palling, and Thomas Burnhouse.


And with that foreshadowing, Farx Cycling kicked off the race. It did not begin well, as in the first few kilometers, Gallagher, appearing somewhat unprepared and sore, attempted to change position in the peloton. He reached the edge of the road safely, but then he lost control of the bike and fell hard onto the road, coming away with nasty scrapes, cuts, and bruises on his left arm and side, as well as, according to several unnamed team sources, a mildly sprained left ankle. Regardless, he was forced to withdraw from the event.

Already down to three riders, Farx Cycling had to soldier on through the remaining miles and kilometers. Team leader Adam Montezzaro, who had stated publicly before the race that he expected to struggle on dirt, dropped off the back of the peloton at the start of a minor climb, forcing him to ride alone, as Millings radioed forward to the remaining two riders, Palling and Burnhouse, to continue on with the race. Montezzaro finished towards the very bottom of the finishers, coming home 14:15 after the winner, in 50th place.

The race rolled on without Montezzaro, and although Farx Cycling was not able to put a rider in the breakaway groups that eventually won the race, Palling, the undisputed sprinter of the team, as well as Burnhouse, rode solidly throughout the race, before a split in the peloton separated the two Welsh Cowboy riders, leaving Palling in 29th, and Burnhouse in 42nd. Palling showed some sprinting prowess at the end of the stage, driving hard for the line.

Next, the WTC2 moves on to the Kytlerian Big Weekend, a 3-stage race which features a dirthill, time trial, and sprint stage. Reportedly, the team will send the same team they planned to send to the inaugural race, namely:

2. Richard Palling
3. Thomas Burnhouse
4. Tyler McHutton
