Alright folks, this is the two week warning for RUCT 26. Please post two entrants per association, unless you are submitting a multi-associational league, in which case TG me. Northwest kalactin, please repost your results with a scorinator table output and two teams submitted for RUCT, otherwise your current entries will not be included.

You have until Wednesday 7th February at midday UTC to submit entries by posting in this thread.

OOC: Having your domestic leagues years behind your national teams in your timeline hurts your brain. Don't do it kids. I need to catch up.

2038-39 Darmeni Rugby Union Season
NRSS (Sevens) | SCRT (Tens) | NRC

With the addition of Sevens and Tens preseason competitions, domestic Rugby Union in Darmen looks a bit different now. With Darmen set to host the 26th Rugby World Cup in fall of 2040, and Tempala set to get a standalone franchise in the National Rugby Championship for the 2040-41 season, its only going to get even more different.

National Rugby Sevens Series
More of a one off than a Series, the NRSS was instituted to prepare the national team for the upcoming international Sevens Series as well as the Olympics. All fourteen franchises participated, although four formed two "combination" teams: Northern VII (CFR United Cotdelapomais & Springfield RFU); and Northwestern VII (Liverpool RFU & Northwest RFU), as the NRSS format only called for twelve teams.

The competition was fiercely contested, with all but one team (Northeastern Sharks) winning at least one of their matches. Northern VII would go on to win the Plate, while the Bowl was taken by Johnho RFU. After a blowout win in the Quarterfinals against the Southwestern Blue Tigers and another dominant performance against the Titans in the Semifinals, Metropolitan RFU defeated Menomonie RFU by the score of 38-12 to become the first national Sevens champions.

Scott City Rugby Tens
Carrying on the momentum from their Sevens victory, Metropolitan RFU went undefeated in the Group Stage of the new Rugby Tens competition (with all 14 teams participating). Having the home crowd behind them certainly helped. The Sharks also turned things around, winnin Group A and advancing to the Quarterfinals. In the Quarterfinals, all four of the group winners were upset. Menomonie RFU made their second final of the season, defeating Johnho RFU, 10-7, in the semifinals, while Northwestern RFU would join them in the Final after shutting out the Warriors, 17-0. After losing the Sevens Final, Menomonie were motivated to do better in the Tens Final, and did so, winning 21-15.

National Rugby Championship
Certainly the main attraction, the NRC unfolded as many would have expected. The Sharks finished top of the table for the third straight season, although their gap over the second placed franchise has continued to shrink (2036-37: Golden Chiefs - 4pts, 2037-38: Blues - 2pts, 2038-39: Golden Chiefs - 0pts). Menomonie RFU, despite performing well in the preseason, missed out on the Playoffs by six points.

In those Playoffs, the "Top 4" showed themselves as the best franchises in Darmen, with only the Warriors being seriously challenged by their opponents, Liverpool RFU eventually succumbing by the score of 12-10 in favor of the Warriors. The Sharks and Golden Chiefs cruised through their Semifinal matches, ensuring that the NRC Final would be a rematch of the previous year's final. And, just like that match, the current final ended once again with the Golden Chiefs denying the Sharks the tile and claiming back-to-back titles. The Sharks must be getting desperate to claim their first title, especially after having topped the regular season table all three seasons of the NRC.

It should also be noted that an unusual tactic was widely adopted by all of the NRC franchises. Instead of playing with two centers and a single fullbacks, all teams have begun to play with one center and two fullbacks, placing far more emphasis on the kicking game and defensive play. It is unknown how the DRU feels about the change, but the national team is unlikely to adopt the formation change for its own team.

Apox Rugby - Season Four

Another Apoxian Rugby season rolls around, for the two Apoxian national leagues. In the AT1, it seems as if there is a bit of a gap forming between the "Big 3" of Dwile Jerseys, Gwinevra Saints and JK Memorial Squad and the rest of the league, although an improved performance by Northern Urbanista and The Vikings suggests that maybe another team will soon be able to challenge at the pinnacle of the Apoxian domestic rugby scene. In the second tier, RFC are denied an immediate return to the top tier by an excellent Wofford Chiefs side - with Wofford now gaining a top tier representative in rugby as well as football.

The APOC Coalition: a loose politico-economic union between
Abanhfleft, Pridnestrovia, Oontaz Dert Li Ng and Copper Cuprum,
although it's only ever useful for international rugby and now ice hockey.

Organizers of the Rugby Coalition, the Coalition Rugby League, and the Koalition Hockey League

After completion of the 79th Season of the AVRU, Neu Engollon (NEG) submits the following qualifying teams to the RUCT:

Burgunden Brawlers (Champions)
Torino Terrors (Runners up)

* I will try to score the new 80th season tonight if I can. I have gotten permission via TG from Apox to let the 79th season stand for now, just in case.

Procedural Notes
18 clubs from 9 associations have been accepted for the 26th RUCT - the entries from Northwest Kalactin have been rejected as the posted results have not been amended as required in the previous RUCT announcement post from the 25th January. The RUCT requires trigrammes for entry, so unfortunately Alice Bays trigramme will remain as ALB, and APOC Coalition's trigramme will be shortened to COA, as used in previous Dwile International tournaments.

The competition format will be as follows:
- There will be a group format of 4 groups of 4, with the top two from each group progressing to the knock-out stages of quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
- All competition winners from each association will qualify automatically for the group stages, along with the runners-up from the five highest ranked associations.
- The runners-up from the four lowest ranked associations will participate in a random two-legged preliminary round, with the winners progressing to the group stages.
- The group stage will be a seeded draw, with no association allowed to have two teams in the same group.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but will the winner of the previous RUCT get a place in the next one even if they don't make it in via league results? Because I don't know if I should put in just two teams or three.

Oh, and any word on the deadline for this?

Yes, they will receive a place in the next RUCT (additional to the normal qualifiers). Sorry, I've been pretty busy in RL with a variety of things recently, so I think this is sadly going to be my final RUCT I host coming up as I'm going to be stepping down my commitment on NS.

However, the cut-off for the next RUCT is now set to be:

Monday 23rd April @ midday BST (UTC+1)

Get those entrants in!
