Qualifying for World Cup 65 will be concluding, and thirty teams will be joining Pasarga and Saugeais for the world's most difficult trophy to win!

Unfortunately, the nations participating in Cup of Harmony 57 were not able to make that field, but there is nothing wrong with participating in the Cup of Harmony, and winning this Trophy is quite an honor. For Cassadaigua, a Cup of Harmony 39 title came in the World Cup 47 cycle; and three World Cups later, we were winning the World Cup. Maybe one of you can as well.

Being here is nothing to be ashamed of.

CUP OF HARMONY 57
TRAVEL GUIDE

Are you coming to Cassadaigua to enjoy the Cup of Harmony? Great! Here’s what you will need to know.

1) Where is Cassadaigua? How do I get there?

Cassadaigua is located in the region of Rushmore, and more specifically south-central Rushmore. It is bordered by Sicoutimont to the east, and by Fidishwa to the west. To its south is a body of water. To the north, is unclaimed land. Bordering us to the north, after all, might be intimidating to another nation of men.

The best recommendation to get here is to fly in. All Cassadagan cities have a major airport, and the nation has an advanced rail system as well. If you insisted on traveling by sea, there are some easily attainable port cities, but we suggest flying in.

2) Will I be safe? What is crime like?

Cassadaigua is no more or no less safe then any other nation. Some consider our crime rates to be a little high, but law enforcement and a general security presence will be very apparent and will protect you. Violent men's rights protests that existed during the previous World Cup have tailed off, so we are expecting no problems for the Cup of Harmony.

3) Tell me more about your female-dominated society. Are male tourists safe?

Cassadaigua’s society is different then what is seen throughout most of the world. In our nation, the female is the dominant gender and is superior to the male. This should not be surprising if you have followed our own national sport teams in even the slightest of ways. There are some groups who feel that men are greatly oppressed in our nation, but that is not really the case. If you are a man, and you are visiting Cassadaigua, as long as you are aware of our somewhat different culture, you should not have a tough time fitting in. After all, Cassadagan men that play by the rules here and respect their role can be very successful themselves. As long as you respect our culture, you should be fine while you are here. If you act disrespectful, then don’t be surprised if you are soon put in your place. You are expected to follow all Cassadagan laws, even if it is not a law in your own country,

4) I’ve been to nations that have talking ponies, or banned cars, or taxes on every little thing. Should I expect anything like this?

Cassadagans love horses, but there are no talking ponies here. You will have to make it into the championship game in Equestrian States if you want to start your journey in the group stages in Cassadaigua, and then see talking ponies. Cars are very much a way of life, and our taxes aren’t anything out of the ordinary, and if anything are a little lower then average. Cassadaigua is modern, economic powerhouse. There are no unusual factors associated with the country, other then the gender differences.

Socially, Cassadaigua is open to members of all faiths, and we respect your right to worship your respective deity in the way you see fit; or to not worship one at all. Homosexuality is accepted in the country, though we can’t promise that some random drunk in the stands or on the streets won’t make offensive comments.

As far as drinking is concerned, the legal age is 18, though many get away with underage drinking as it is not as aggressively policed as it may be in other lands. However, do not drink and drive. If you are caught, you will have a greater jail sentence then you might be expecting, and if you kill anyone by drunk driving, you will receive the death penalty.

Smoking anywhere in public is banned, but legal in your own home. This applies to both cigarettes and marijuana. All other recreational drugs are banned.

5) Where will the games be? Tell me about the cities, please.

Games will be held in Concord Heights, Brattleboro, Grande Mountain, Rutland, Winchester, New Lakeland, Victoriaville, and Starksville.

Concord Heights- This is the nation capital, and the city has hosted many international championships before, including the finals in World Baseball Classics 18 and 26. You’ll find the city in northeast Cassadaigua, and there are plenty of things to do while here. We won’t get into all of them, because if its on your mind, simply put, its in Concord Heights. Within the city, you will find the most traditional Cassadagan citizens; the ones least likely to be listening to MEN (Male Equality Now) or any other of men’s rights messages. The University of Concord Heights is the nation’s most accredited higher learning institution, but if you want to leave Cassadaigua looking better to impress people at home, check out Concord Heights Beauty School for all kind of tips on looking your best, and museums dedicated specifically to the ultimate in vanity.

The stadium in which you will be playing in is the stadium in which hosts Cassadaigua's qualifying games, so you can check out much of Cassadaigua's history in the World Cup (or other sports if you wish) while you are here. If you have kids, take them out to visit "Monument Wall" in the South End Zone for tributes to the 10 Cassadagan athletes that have had their jersey numbers retired.

Concord Heights Stadium (cap. 77,000) will host all GROUP E games.

Grande Mountain- This is the city that was the center of attention during the investigation of rape allegations towards World Cup player Meghan Kinson on the University student that ended up committing suicide. There were also a deep investigation of a cover-up at GMU, but Kinson has been cleared of any wrong-doing. That alleged crime spurred some violent men's rights protests, but as many women hoped, those protests have dwindled due to lack of support. Outside of that, this is the 3rd largest city in Cassadaigua, and similar to Concord Heights in that has a lot to offer.

Grande Mountain Stadium (cap. 68,000) will host all GROUP F games.

Brattleboro- The most rapidly growing city in Cassadaigua recently topped Grande Mountain in terms of population. Brattleboro sits immediately alongside the border between us and Sicoutimont. The technological age is what has caused the rise of this city, thanks in large part to the prestigious Brattleboro Technical Institute. Graduates remained committed to the area, and are since having families of their own. Overall, there is a younger demographic here, age wise, and that coupled with the name of the city has led to others to call its residents “Brats”.

Brattleboro Stadium (cap. 82,000) will host all GROUP G games.

Winchester- The anti-Brattleboro in that while Brattleboro is a younger city, demographically, Winchester is a place that a lot of retired people have migrated too, to get away from big city life. In the process, they created a big city themselves, but you’ll notice that this city doesn’t have same kind of pizzazz as others. You’ll find more bingo halls then bars in the city, and residents only agree to allow the city to be used for international events because of the money you’ll bring in to the city. So that they can gamble it away playing bingo.

Winchester Field (cap. 67,000) will host all GROUP H games.

A letter from the Equestrian chairpony of the Pink & Purple Cup of Harmony Bid...

Greetings, and welcome to the Equestrian States!

If you’re reading this, then you are most likely visiting our wonderful nation to watch and enjoy a game which many throughout the multiverse call their favorite. That game is, of course, the sport that is known as football, soccer, or hoofball (depending on where you’re from). Over the next month or so, countless people from every corner of existence will flock to four different nations for two of the most prestigious tournaments in all sports. Those visiting the lands of Pasarga and Saugeais will be watching the World Cup, while those visiting the Equestrian States and Cassadaigua will take in the Cup of Harmony.

While the Cup of Harmony might not be seen as desirable for some, it the largest tournament where the potential for greatness is the only thing which will get a team invited to compete. For the more experienced and well-known, it’s a springboard to be used to rebound back into the fray atop the rankings. For others who have been on the brink of greatness for years, it’s a way to prove to the world that they can compete with teams once considered beyond their range. And for some, the young and inexperienced teams, it’s a first step towards greater things in the future. Regardless of where your team is in its development, an invitation to the Cup of Harmony is something which must be earned, and is an accomplishment to be proud of.

But I’m sure you’ve already read plenty of articles, columns, and blogs on that sort of thing, and are far more eager to find out about the Equestrian States than you are to hear about what the Cup of Harmony signifies. Enclosed in this letter is an access code for the digital version of the Lonely Multiverse guide to the Equestrian States, which will give you plenty of information about the country I and my fellow Equestrians call home.

Thank you for visiting, and enjoy your stay in the Equestrian States!

Many thanks go to Wight for providing the Lonely Multiverse header for this guide.

Introduction

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States is a diverse country inhabited by several dozen sapient species, each contributing to the nation's proud culture of tolerance and giving the Equestrian States a reputation of compassion and kindness. Tradition and innovation have combined well in this North Pony Lands nation, rapidly bringing it into the modern world after centuries of self-imposed isolation from the rest of the multiverse. This Lonely Multiverse travel guide is designed to be the ultimate companion for any tourist (regardless of his/her species) visiting the Equestrian States, and is loaded with every tip and bit of advice one needs to have an safe and enjoyable stay.

History

Originally colonized by sapient equines (more commonly known as ponies) from Magical Equestria approximately 2000 years ago, the Equestrian States was first established as a largely-autonomous overseas territory of the motherland. As a colony, the Equestrian States was fairly prosperous, developing a matriarchal society similar to that of Magical Equestria and several other Pony Lands nations. Several decades after the first ponies set hoof on the islands now part of the Equestrian States, however, the rise of a mysterious and chaotic entity known as Discord led to the government of the growing colony to adopt strict isolationist policies to avoid attracting the attention of Discord.

Several centuries later, the anarchic reign of Discord in the Pony Lands came to an end, though the Equestrian States remained firmly entrenched in its isolationist policies. Having formally declared its independence from Magical Equestria during the rule of Discord, the Equestrian States was reluctant to turn away from the policies which had allowed it to escape the turmoil faced by the rest of the region. Yet another cataclysmic event, just over a millennia ago, saw the known world embroiled in conflict with itself and the fledgling former colony sunk deeper into isolation for the next several centuries.

However, about 200 years ago, the isolation of the Equestrian States began to slowly erode with the growth of international maritime trade. Though it would take until just four decades ago for the remaining isolationist policies to be gradually overturned or made obsolete, foreigners began to take note of the Equestrian States and its northern location in the Pony Lands. What finally drove the ponies of the Equestrian States to abandon isolationism entirely was commerce, with the nation's location being perfect as a refueling and stopping point for ships traveling from outside the Pony Lands.

Active membership in the Coalition of Ponyist States (a military, economic, and political alliance famed for its quick, efficient, and merciless dealings with nations actively persecuting sapient equines and other non-humans) gave the Equestrian States reason to become heavily involved in international politics and trade. Within a decade, the Equestrians entered the modern era, utilizing magic in creative ways to avoid industrial pollution wherever possible and speed the nation's development.

Today, the Equestrian States is a magically-enhanced, advanced country that has successfully merged tradition and technology. With an economy dominated by tourism, agriculture, and the mining of precious minerals, the Equestrians have found their niche in the international community. Thanks to its location in the Pony Lands, the Equestrian States has become a travel hub for many traveling to the region from elsewhere, and the nation is easily among the more prosperous and safe for foreigners to visit.

Geography & Climate

The Equestrian States is best described as an island nation. However, most Equestrians live on the largest island, which is referred to by locals as the mainland, due to its size and role as a population and commercial center for the country.

The mainland is mostly flat grassland and plains, though forests and hilly areas exist and are generally scattered throughout the island. Running north to south are the Harmony Mountains, named for Mt. Harmony near the capital city of Canterlot. The mountain range divides the mainland into eastern and western geographic regions, and was once home to dozens of active volcanoes. However, no eruption has occurred in the Harmony Mountains in over 800 years, and the range is believed to be inactive. The ancient volcanic activity on the mainland (and on many of the Equestrian States' smaller islands, as well) resulted in mineral deposits from which Equestrian miners have extracted gold, silver, and other valuable materials for export.

Two notable exceptions to the mainland's grassy majority are the Everfree Forest and Southern Desert. The Everfree Forest is more of a jungle than a temperate forest, and is widely considered the most dangerous region in the Equestrian States due to its large numbers of wild carnivorous species, some of which would be considered "mythical" by foreigners. Within the Everfree Forest is the city of Everfree, located along the banks of the Stampede River and home to the largest population of non-equines in the nation. A number of more typical temperate forests surround the Everfree Forest itself.

The Southern Desert is (as one might expect) a dry region located in a small pocket of flat land surrounded by the Harmony Mountains near the southern coast. The only major population center in the Southern Desert is the small city of Appleoosa, located in what could be considered by some as a cooler oasis.

But where things begin to get weird for the average tourist is the Equestrian States' weather. Due to the magical nature of the country (and much of the Pony Lands region, as well), Equestrian pegasai are capable of creating, manipulating, and otherwise controlling the clouds of the nation. This gives them the ability to control where and when in rains, snows, hails, or anything else related to weather patterns. The Equestrian government is very actively involved in coordinating the pegasai of the country to generate and control weather patterns favorable to the Equestrian States inhabitants (and its many farmers, in particular). As such, the odds of an Equestrian weatherpony giving an incorrect forecast are almost nonexistent, unless you happen to be in the Everfree Forest (the only region of the Equestrian States where the weather is near impossible to control).

Travel

Travelling to the Equestrian States is generally easy, as most methods of interregional travel are available to visitors from outside the Pony Lands. Most international flights to the Equestrian States arrive at Canterlot's Harmony International Airport, but other regularly-used airports such as Manehattan's Royal International and Stalliongrad's Friendship Heights International are easy to find flights to. However, it should be noted that pilots flying to and from the Equestrian States internationally must receive additional certification due to the magical nature of the Equestrian States and much of the Pony Lands. Because of this additional requirement for pilots, some airlines do charge extra to cover the training fees.

Another common way of reaching the States is via sea. Manehattan's seaport is among the most active in the North Pony Lands, and isn't located far from the heart of the Equestrian States' largest city.

Once one is in the Equestrian States, there are many other options for travel. Rental cars, taxis, and busses are easy to find in the larger cities such as Manehattan, Stalliongrad, and Everfree, though one might notice that most vehicles are electric-powered. But while cars and busses are regularly used in some cities, there are also several in which their use is limited to emergency services (most notably in Ponyville and Canterlot's Old City district) or is totally banned (as is the case in Cloudsdale).

However, the limited use of automobiles is balanced out by the proliferation of trains for travel between and within cities. Some of the more prominent and historical lines (such as the Ponyville-Canterlot Express) still use steam-powered engines or high-speed trains designed to mimic the classical appearance of an Equestrian train. Subways are also a common feature in Equestrian cities, spreading underground to connect many places of interest for foreign tourists. Cloudsdale is the only city where cars, busses, and trains/subways are unavailable.

But in the end, the most common method of travel in the Equestrian States is one's own two feet (or whatever you have to walk on). Few Equestrians drive or use public transportation unless they have to, preferring to take in the clean air on their way from place-to-place.

Culture & Society

Religion

Any analysis of Equestrian culture and society must begin with its majority religion and guiding philosophy: Harmonism. A dualistic religion, it revolves around the physical sun and moon deities, Celestia and Luna, as well as the six principles known as the Elements of Harmony. The religion's origins are near-impossible to determination, though it is widely believed to begun shortly after ponykind first encountered Celestia and Luna over two millennia ago. Unlike other religions, Harmonism lacks a written scripture or centralized multiversal organization to create such writings, occasionally resulting in disagreements between Harmonists from different regions. For the sake of brevity, we will only be exploring the most common spiritual and secular beliefs held by those from the Equestrian States.

As stated earlier, the central beliefs of Harmonism include the worship of the Regal Sisters (Celestia and Luna) and adherence to the Elements of Harmony. Celestia and Luna are the two Princess rulers of distant Magical Equestria, though Luna has (in recent years) begun to spend considerable time aiding the C'tan in preserving peace throughout the Pony Lands. Immortal and, according to spiritual Harmonists, capable of moving celestial bodies through magic, the two Regal Sisters are worshipped (or at least respected) by ponies throughout the multiverse as living goddesses. Some have recently begun to question the actual power of the Sisters, though it is widely accepted among ponykind that they are the two most powerful magical beings in existence.

The six Elements of Harmony are Honesty, Laughter, Kindness, Generosity, Loyalty, and Magic. These Elements exist both as philosophical concepts as well as physical objects capable of great power that contain the purest essence of the aforementioned virtues. The philosophical aspects of the Elements are more central to Harmonist faith as a set of morals to guide one throughout life. They are, for the most part, fairly self-explanatory, except for Magic. The sixth element has been connected not only to the ability of Harmonists to use magical spells, but also to the drive for new knowledge or understanding. It also has been connected to the power of friendship, and is mentioned in the most common Harmonist saying: "Friendship is Magic".

However, Harmonism has expanded from its spiritual roots (particularly as more non-equines are exposed to harmonist teachings) to become a secular philosophy as well. Secular Harmonists generally try to follow the virtues of Harmonism, though they generally do not believe that the Regal Sisters are physical goddesses. The expansion of Secular Harmonism has also led to the traditional virtues being adopted and woven into other religions as well, such as Christianity. Excluding the overwhelmingly Spiritual Harmonist equine population of the Equestrian States, the most common religion is Harmonist Christianity, which is especially popular among the human inhabitants of the nation.

Language

Traditionally, ponies have spoken in their native Equestrian tongue which is common throughout the Pony Lands. However, since the emergence of the Equestrian States into the international community, laws have been passed requiring citizens to be capable of speaking multiple languages. The most common non-Equestrian language is easily English, which is spoken by approximately two-thirds of the population. It should be noted that some English words have been altered by Equestrians to better fit the equine majority, as the use of "everypony", "anypony", "hoofball", and other such words are modifications of the more standard English words. Mastery of many different languages is especially common among Unicorns, and as they are generally the ones more involved in business, are easy enough to find for foreign visitors. Numerous translating services exist throughout the Equestrian States, and airport bookstores generally contain a plethora of multilingual dictionaries for purchase.

Food

As one might expect from a nation dominated by a species of herbivores, many traditional Equestrian dishes are vegetarian in nature. The proliferation of such food is also furthered by the general lack of agriculture for the purpose of raising up animals for the slaughter. To hurt another living creature is, to many Equestrians, simply unthinkable. However, the Equestrian States is not only inhabited by equines, but also by griffons, dragons, and humans (among others). Restaurants do exist to cater to these non-equine species, and do serve a wide variety of meats imported from outside of the region. That being said, it would be unwise to be seen in public eating a hamburger made from beef or any other meat product as many Equestrians are disgusted by such foods. This can make finding food difficult in smaller cities and in the nicer areas of the larger ones. A general tip would be: if your waiter looks like a herbivore, don't ask them for a cheeseburger or steak. Equestrian cafes are fairly creative with what they can do with non-meat products, and the bread and pastries are oftentimes better than what you might find in other nations.

Inter-Species Relations

As the Equestrian States is home to a wide range of species, it is practically impossible for any visitor to the country to avoid seeing a member of another species, regardless of where they might be. Unicorns could pull this off in certain neighborhoods of Canterlot, and Earth Ponies could do the same in rural areas, though foreigners will often stumble across other species upon entry into the Equestrian States as customs officials are perhaps the most diverse Equestrian demographic.

Relations between the three major pony races have not always been smooth, and some tensions still exist today despite the educational system's teaching of acceptance and tolerance. However, inter-species violence is very rare within the Equestrian States, as is violence in general, with the possible exceptions coming from dragons, griffons, and other more naturally-aggressive species. Angering a dragon is about as dumb as it sounds, and is not advised unless one has a death wish.

Visitors to the Equestrian States are also advised to avoid appearing speciesist to locals, as Equestrian society could be described as having a herd mentality, where an attack against or insult towards one person might be considered an attack on all those around that person. Thus, some words to avoid using in the Equestrian States are: horse, mule, foal, or donkey. Calling a pony any of those terms is likely to result in a backlash towards the offending individual, as they are considered to be offensive unless one is actually speaking to a sapient horse or donkey, which are both easy to tell apart from ponies through their size and general lack of bright-colored fur or manes.

The Capital City: Canterlot

Canterlot is the capital city of the Equestrian States and one of its oldest. Located on the steep slopes of Mt. Harmony and the surrounding lands, Canterlot has evolved over time into a burgeoning metropolis that reflects the qualities the nation that houses its government in the city. The capital’s traditional sophisticated architecture has been almost seamlessly blended with the more modern styles to make it perhaps the most visually-appealing cities in the Equestrian States.

The Metropolis: Manehattan

The most populous city in the Equestrian States, Manehattan is arguably the economic capital of the nation. Although the equine residents of the city might not be typical for foreign visitors, the city is the most normal of any Equestrian city when looking at its architecture and attractions. Most cities were reluctant to industrialize as the Equestrian States entered the modern world, but it was not the case with Manehattan, where industry and commerce are dominant.

The Old and Not-So-Small Mining City: Stalliongrad

Excluding the several cloud cities, Stalliongrad is the highest-altitude city in the Equestrian States, located on the opposite side of the mountains from Canterlot. Famed for the rich diamond and gold mines nearby, Stalliongrad is a wealthy city, but it has not forgotten where its economic strength comes from. Prior to the discovery of gold and diamonds in the mountains, Stalliongrad was a very small town situated near the start of a small river that led down to the plains below. However, when rare minerals were first discovered, the small town quickly grew into a small city. Over the last 100 years, Stalliongrad has grown to become one of the Equestrian States’ largest cities. Populated mainly by unicorns and earth ponies, who together are incredibly efficient miners, the city is famed for its abundance of wealth and economic power, but also for being one of the country’s rougher towns. Stalliongrad is also home to sizable communities of both humans and dragons, though the fire-breathers live on the outskirts or in the suburbs in the caves where their families have thrived for hundreds of years.

The Heart of the Country: Ponyville

Ponyville is among the most attractive cities in the Equestrian States, located west of the massive Everfree Forest, and along the banks of the Mane River. A pleasant city that, like Canterlot, has incorporated the conveniences of the modern world with the traditional Equestrian city, Ponyville holds a growing role in the economy of the Equestrian States as a center of transportation between Canterlot, Everfree, Manehattan, and (to a degree) Cloudsdale. Its central location makes it an almost mandatory stop for any tourist travelling between cities on the mainland's western half.

Wild and Wonderful: Everfree

The city of Everfree is located in the central region of the Equestrian States, and is southeast of Ponyville. Surrounded by the dense, jungle-like, Everfree Forest, the city is home to the largest percentage of non-equine citizens of any in the Equestrian States. The Everfree Forest (for reasons which are still being debated among the scientific and magical community) is not subject to the same laws of nature as the rest of the country, with clouds that move without the aid of a pegasus. In addition to the Forest’s strange weather patterns, the diverse (and oftentimes deadly) animal life long dissuaded any Equestrians from attempting to forge deep into its dark and leafy depths. However, when non-equines began to move in greater numbers to the Equestrian States following its emergence from isolation, humans and other non-equine sapients found the region to be more similar to their homelands, and began to construct a city near the center of the massive jungle.

The City in the Sky: Cloudsdale

Cloudsdale’s name is no accident. Located literally in the clouds, over a million pegasi call the city their home. But, without a doubt, Cloudsdale’s most defining feature is what it is made of: clouds. Due to its nature, Cloudsdale can float from one location to another, but rarely is ever more than 35 kilometers from the outskirts of Ponyville, meaning that tourists planning to visit the city can easily stay in Ponyville, which is less disorienting. Transportation to Cloudsdale is provided by the Equestrian Air Transport Authority via high-capacity, zeppelin-like shuttle balloons.

Notes

The Federation of Free Republics (FFR) is a federation of Republics with a weak national government (the "Federation Government") that has numerous checks and balances. The Republics, each of which has its own government, are relatively independent, although they are subject to the Federation Constitution and its numerous restrictions on what government can do. Most important among them is the cap on taxation, which makes it unconstitutional for government (meaning all governments in the FFR) to take more than 10% combined of anybody's income in taxes, effectively limiting the government. They are the nearest neighbor to Saintland, although that tiny island nation is over a thousand miles to the north of the northern-most Republic's northern border, and most Republicans actually tend to consider progressives worse than religious fanatics, even if both ideologies are considered extreme and contrary to Republicanism. This is the same team the FFR sent to the Di Bradini Cup. The players on this team would not be considered the best players in the FFR or even the best U-21 players in the FFR. Republican athletes tend to have massive egos and they aren't interested in playing for their country. This team was the idea of Rule Theriault, a failed former manager who had led a team that was expected to contend for the league title to relegation. Theriault failed as manager at Petrograd United because the veteran players on that team, with their giant egos, did not respect their manager or his approach to the game. Theriault clashed with players because he emphasizes a team-first style of play and an intense practice schedule. To rebuild his reputation, he decided to work with younger players that would take instruction and was able to get a number of talented young players, even if most of the country's top prospects turned him down. This team made it to the finals of the Di Bradini Cup, before falling short against the Equestrian States. Despite requests from a number of professional players to be chosen for the national side, Theriault chose not to make any changes to his squad for the Baptism of Fire to avoid any risk of weakening team chemistry. Despite finishing 17th at the BoF and failing to qualify for the World Cup, Theriault has once again chosen not to make any changes to his side for the Cup of Harmony. There are no large differences in ability between the individual players on this team. Backups can see playing time and Theriault will probably bench his starters if he feels the game is meaningless. Bolton is the team's best player, but he isn't much better than the other strikers.

Football Commission of Aels

The Football Commission of Aels selection board, comprised of manager Sergyei Arefev, assistant manager Cameron Walsh and FCA chief of player relations Iwan Tudur, is pleased to name a 25-man squad for the 57th Cup of Harmony. The selection team are happy to announce that the 23 men who won the Baptism of Fire tournament and subsequently played in the World Cup qualifying campaign have all been selected for the Cup of Harmony side. Two more players have also been called up after impressive league seasons as cover.

New coach Arefev formerly managed the Mytannion national team, taking them to three World Cup Finals tournaments and reaching the second round in World Cup 62. He is assisted by Cameron Walsh, five-time Premier League (and one Cygnus Cup)-winning manager with Pentref-ar-y-Bae, while Cian Evans of defending league champions CCPD Penfro is also on the coaching team. The medical staff is led by Matthew Edwards-Parry, chief physio at Doverston.

The selectors have named five internationally-based players in their starting 11, including Elwyn Richard of Iturributa United, likely playing in his only World Cup cycle for Aels due to his increasing age, who has been named captain. The other three are Rhodri Evans, who plays for Spartangrad in Eura, his former teammate Bryn Thomas of Farrenton Athletic, and the Polarian-based Aled Jones (SK Aasiaat Harbour) and Ciarán O'Connor (Jan Mayen Islanders). A notable omission from the side is Aelsh-born Charmunnry captain Alun Jenkins, 33, who has opted to continue his international career with Ancharmunn.

Players with numbers 1–11 are most likely to start each match (though due to injury or suspension, they may not). The team's kits (below) are made by Audioslavian manufacturers Kirola. The 23-man squad, playing in a 4-1-3-2 formation (style mod +2), is as follows:

Defenders
#2 Russell Jones
Age: 27
Position: Left back
Club: CCPD Penfro (champions)
Former clubs: Drayfill Town
Honours: Football League Premier champions (Drayfill Town 1098/99, CCPD Penfro 1101/02), Football League Premier runners-up (Drayfill Town 1100/01), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52)

#3 Owen Griffiths
Age: 20
Position: Right back, centre half
Club: Pentref-ar-y-Bae (3rd)
Honours: Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52), FCA Trophy runners-up (Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1101/02)

#4 Iwan Maddox
Age: 31
Position: Centre half
Club: Pentref-ar-y-Bae (3rd)
Honours: Football Second League champions (Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1089/90) Football League Premier runners-up (Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1090/91, 1099/00), Football League Premier champions (Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1091/92, 1092/93, 1093/94, 1094/95, 1095/96), FCA Trophy winners (Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1096/97), Cygnus Cup winners (Pentref-ar-y-Bae CYG19), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52), FCA Trophy runners-up (Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1101/02)
Biography: Named captain of the Aelsh Representative XI under Cameron Walsh at the fourth Cuppet tournament, Maddox is Aels' very definition of a one-club man. He came through the youth ranks at Pentref-ar-y-Bae and made his first-team debut at the age of 18 in the 1088/89 season, when Pentref finished fifth in the then-eight-team Second League. Named club captain at the age of 19, he then guided Pentref to their second Second League title in three seasons in 1089/90 and also scored a goal in the 4–1 promotion playoff thrashing of Doverston to seal promotion. He and the club have never looked back as they went on to form Aelsh football's biggest dynasty, winning five straight league titles in the 90s. He is a close confidant and friend of Walsh, who has managed him since the season he was made captain.

#5 Stephen Andrews
Age: 28
Position: Centre half
Club: Hilshore County (5th)
Former clubs: Pontyport Athletic, Plaidstone
Honours: FCA Trophy runners-up (Plaidstone 1096/97), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52)

Defensive midfielder
#6 Ciarán O'Connor
Age: 26
Position: Anchorman, centre midfield
Club: Jan Mayen Islanders (Polar Islandstates)
Former clubs: CCPD Penfro
Honours: Football League Premier champions (CCPD Penfro 1096/97, 1100/01), FCA Trophy winners (CCPD Penfro 1097/98), Football League Premier runners-up (CCPD Penfro 1097/98), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52)
Biography: O'Connor, the son of Charmunnry parents, could have played for Ancharmunn. Brought up in Penfro, Aels' largest southern city which has a large Charmunnry population, O'Connor played both Gaelic sports and football, but chose the latter when he was spotted at 16 by CCPD Penfro scouts. His performances for the club even saw him called up to the Ancharmunn national team for a Copa Rushmori in the days when Aelsh players played for the Charmunnry team – although he would have qualified through his parents anyway. However, he was not selected for a single match, and faded back into club football until Cameron Walsh handed him a Cuppet call-up for the Aelsh Representative Team. A decent run of form meant that when Sergyei Arefev took over as Aels' first national manager, a call-up to the full side was inevitable. After winning the most recent Football League Premier title with Penfro, Polarian giants Jan Mayen came calling – and there would be no turning them down.

Midfielders
#7 Rhodri Evans (vice-captain)
Age: 29
Position: Centre midfield
Club: Spartangrad (Eura)
Former clubs: Farrenton Athletic (Eura), Doverston
Honours: Football Second League champions (Doverston 1091/92), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52)
Biography: Rhodri Evans was a talented youngster who helped Doverston to the Second League title in his debut season before he was snapped up, aged just 19, a year later by Eura's Farrenton Athletic, at the same time Pentref-ar-y-Bae inside forward Bryn Thomas. The two had played together on Aels' Di Bradini Cup team and shared seven seasons at Farrenton, but their careers went in slightly different directions. Thomas struggled to get much press back home, despite scoring at least 15 goals every season for Farrenton, while Evans' quality has been noticed by Euran giants Spartangrad. At the age of 27 he made the move, for eight million Euran pounds, and came third in the league's Midfielder of the Season award. However, at Evans' insistence, Thomas has been given his chance for Aels too.

#8 Aled Jones
Age: 26
Position: Centre midfield, centre attacking midfield
Club: SK Aasiaat Harbour (Polar Islandstates)
Former clubs: Imeall an Uisce
Honours: FCA Trophy runners-up (Imeall an Uisce 1094/95, 1097/98), FCA Trophy winners (Imeall an Uisce 1098/99), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52)
Biography: Jones is another up-and-coming Aelshman who's made the move abroad to bigger and better things. Having been relegated to the Second League with Imeall an Uisce, he stuck with the team with whom he went to three finals at the Free Stone Stadium – but much like compatriot O'Connor, when overseas interest was made known, he could not resist and his club chose not to stand in his way.

#9 Marc Powell
Age: 24
Position: Center midfield, right midfield
Club: Dovershore County (9th)
Honours: Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52), FCA Trophy winners (Dovershore County 1100/01, 1101/02)
Biography: Originally a bench player for Aels' Baptism of Fire winning effort, Powell made his mark during the World Cup qualifying campaign after replacing Gethin Evans in the starting lineup and impressing. Further impressive performances helped his club Dovershore County defend their FCA Trophy title despite a ninth-place league finish, which has sealed his place in the starting XI for now.

Forwards
#10 Bryn Thomas
Age: 30
Position: Inside forward
Club: Farrenton Athletic (Eura)
Former clubs: Pentref-ar-y-Bae
Honours: Football League Premier champions (Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1091/92, 1092/93), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52)
Biography: Bryn Thomas may not be a well-known name in Aels these days, but for anyone who can remember a decade ago he was 'the next big thing' for Pentref-ar-y-Bae, top-scoring in their title-winning seasons in 1092 and 1093 before Farrenton Athletic snapped him up away to Eura. He's been heard from very little since, despite slotting home at least 15 goals every season he's played in Eura, but has finally gotten his chance thanks to his old friend Rhodri Evans.

#11 Elwyn Richard (captain)
Age: 34
Position: Complete forward
Club: Iturributa United (Iturributa)
Former clubs: Imeall an Uisce
Honours: Iturributan Premier Division champions (Iturributa United 647, 650, 652, 654), President's Cup runners-up (Iturributa United 647, 651, 654), Iturributan Premier Division runners-up (Iturributa United 648, 649, 651, 653, 655), President's Cup winners (Iturributa United 653), Copa de Campeones (Iturributa United CdC16, CdC18), two Emperors' Cups (Iturributa United), Baptism of Fire winners (Aels BoF52)
Personal honours: FIF Young Player of the Season (647), FIF Team of the Season (648, 649, 650, 651, 654), FIF Top Scorer (649, 650, 651, 654), FIF Player of the Season (650, 654)
Biography: What else needs to be said? Aels' biggest football export, and still banging in the goals at his age for Iturributa United. Previously capped by Ancharmunn, and has played in four World Cup cycles (59, 60, 62, 64) as well as five Copa Rushmoris (IX, X, XI, XII, XIII). Top-scorer for Aels at the Baptism of Fire tournament.

NORTHERN SUNRISE ISLANDS CUP OF HARMONY 57 ROSTER
THE VAPOREONS

GOALKEEPERS
#01 - Trent MILLARD (San Jose Sharks - Northern Sunrise Islands)
Millard was a rookie with some prospect when the first Universitarian League rolled around. Obviously, he wasn't taken much seriously, thus making him stay in Northern Sunrise Islands lines, which placed him as a Goalkeeper for the Seaside Wartortles. The Wartortles then noticed they couldn't make much use of the player, so they kept him playing on other teams around the world. Monty Python, Peace of Saint Anne and Jacob, Canondale Bombers, Hermann Aichinger and finally a run with Afonse Batallion would let him return to the Sunrisian Lands. He stuck with the Batallion, thanks to his great skills as a goalie finally rising from him, which made San Jose Sharks take him under their team. And now he's in the national team.

#12 - Maurício ROSÁRIO (Fluminense - Barra e Janeiro)
Rosário spent little time with the team that drafted him back in the Universitarian League, as San Jose Sharks was still in its way to become a good team in NSI, thus making him go around Unzucneru Association. While he wasn't a hit at some teams, he eventually found fortune when Barra e Janeiro's Fluminense gave him a call. He became a hit, almost becoming a Barrian to represent the country at a Cuppet or something like that. However, Bourbon remembered of him and brought the Aranha Negra for the Vaporeons.

#32 - Mellody SIOUX (Ponyville United - Equestrian States)
A Nekonian, Mellody Sioux played for Kitsunia-Deesse during the years that nekonians were not allowed at the Sunrisian Football Leagues. Then, Ponyville United invited her in and now there she is, playing for a big country. Dreams come true, it seems.

SIDEBACKS
#02 - Justin REDWING (Litala '93 - Mytannar) [CAPTAIN]
A survivor of the Lavonian Civil War, Redwing finally found his way in success as he caught the eyes of Litala '93 for Mytannar. Still a memorable and always interesting piece of the Sunrisian squad, Redwing continues to be the stronghold of emotions that somehow makes great crosses every now and then.

#05 - Anthony HAWK (Minigoleada - Dainer)
The Hawk, The Kid. Anthony Hawk has made himself a decent cult of fans in Dainer with Minigoleada as the Foreigner who shines in the strong nationalist squad of Minigoleada. A loyal player to the Vaporeons, Hawk made his best to continue in the task of becoming a great right-back.

#13 - Andressa DE SOUZA (Lynder Frosslasses - Northern Sunrise Islands)
A perfeccionist, Andressa is close to her good old friend Larissa, who plays at Neuville, not too far from Lynder. While small, she is as fast as possible and tend to have a great outsider look in the field. A good way to tick her, back then was to miswrite her surname as DE SOUSA, which related to Francisco de Sousa, a forward player.

#14 - Larissa SOUZA (Neuville Scythers - Northern Sunrise Islands)
A lunatic, but nice person. Playing together with her old highschool friend Andressa, Larissa is a decent player at her position, hardly giving up the ball. Was kept due to her decent array of skills.

CENTERBACKS
#03 - Netto HIKARI (Augusta - Darmen)
He was a loan coin back when he was in NSI, but no team ever noticed that he was a great player. Augusta did, and brought him with them for some football. As you might have guessed, he is another uprising player with enough skill for the Vaporeons.

#04 - Yolanda MCFLEMMING (Acropolis - Dainer)
A strong and experienced player in the defense, McFlemming was originally born in New Capitalia, but her old country was added to the Sunrisian Territories, thus making her a Sunrisian. She's debuting at any national team, either from New Capitalia or from Northern Sunrise Islands.

#15 - Pippi MANGALONGA (Northern Stars - Felix)
The younger sister of Iau, Pippi is probably one of the most hidden talent of Northern Sunrise Islands to be featured in the roster. Sent by her original club, the Matthew City Senators to the Northern Stars, a team that works as a farm team in Felix, the younger Mangalonga has
also four brothers and seven sisters that are still developing to possibly play soccer. Could the Mangalongas become a family enshrined in the Sunrisian Football?

#16 - Natsu HANEKAWA (Blue Bay AFC - Kythenna)
Now with Blue Bay AFC, Hanekawa seems to be a little tougher than before, now focused on the chances of going far at the Cup of Harmony. If the team doesn't... Eh, at least she went to another country without paying for it.

MIDFIELDERS
#06 - Tom "Starfox" MCCLOUD (Colonial Sile - Vilita)
Son of two of the most condecorated officials at Sunrisian Air Force, the older McCloud of the recent generation was strongly considered after seeing how good this kid is as an all-around player. Also, playing in Vilita gets you this far in Sunrisian National Football.

#07 - Iau MANGALONGA (Jenipapa - Dainer)
The Princess of the midfield, this white haired nekonian has become the blue chip of the team, playing inside Dainer, Mangalonga has not disappointed her colleagues in the Daineri team, winning a title on her debut at the league. While her past may be quite dark for
commoners, the future shines in the eyes of this young girl.

#08 - Guillermo DI LUCA (Montfort Wanderers - Licentiapacisterra)
A solid player, this young blonde hasn't disappointed in the cyan-and-gold land, showing decent reason of why he is still around in the Marills' squad. Acts as the vice-captain.

#10 - Namine NAGATOMO (Issington FC - Apox)
The dazzler, the one that started playing street football before stepping up to the grass pitch. Nagatomo is techincally experienced, having spent her teenager years in the concrete pitches of Mardi as a street footballer who would later earn a lot with that image. Then, out of her upcoming 19th anniversary, she would make the trip to one of NSI's biggest rivals, Apox, only to become a professional player and have enough money to help her family around. Inspiring and deserving of number 10 indeed.

#17 - Bridgitte LAVAL (La Naranja - Dandillis)
"Hanging around the corner" region-wise and well placed in the bench, Bridgitte has some history in international football that can't be left without notice. A more experienced player, continues with the Vaporeons for the next tournaments.

#18 - Brendan CRAWFORD (Augusta - Darmen)
The Hot Shot in Flock Nation, would later move to Darmen, but will never ever be forgotten by his fans at AZ Avalar and Saint Magdalene United for all his hard work. He has been with the Vaporeons for quite sometime, so no surprises here.

#19 - Harley "Quinn" SMITH (Feardillis' Wanderers - Farfadillis)
Harley has went through almost everything a human could even go through, with only around twenty years old! Kinda bizarre, but you have to admit that this madgirl is something totally different from what NSI tends to offer in their national team. Not even the best tactician can put her locked, so good luck for the opponents with her.

#20 - DUDA (Augusta - Darmen)
Techinically an experienced player, but new to the Marills. He tend to play the tutor role for Crawford and Hikari, who play with him at Darmen, but Marcos Eduardo knows what he's talking off. Considerably, a legend at Andarahy, he wants to show what he's capable off in the sets of the World. And Augusta is joyfully helping him do so.

FORWARDS
#09 - Christie TRAVIS (Matthew City Rangers - Northern Sunrise Islands)
Born in Osarius, easilly taken as another child of the land in Matthew City, Ms. Travis has one of the best shooting ranges of the forwards of the national team and is rising consistantly with the Vaporeons. The brunette has also been given, finally, the captain position at the Rangers and could easilly challenge Redwing for the position.

#11 - Mateus CARVALHO (Bartholomew FC - Boring Paradise)
Back in the old days, Carvalho was considered a blue chip. Now, at Boring Paradise, he is slowly developing to what people said he should become. Versatile player and onipresent (at least that's what we hope he is) during all ninety minutes.

#21 - Melina PATIY (Bufelino - Dainer)
Patiy was one of the first players to ever leave the (back then) Protetorate of Northern Sunrice for the outside world, in this case, the nation of Dainer. While not really the greatest success inside the dragon-born country, she is a solid player, thus becoming a good reserve for the team.

#22 - Louise MONTBLANC (Altomare - Felix)
A graduate from Project +90, Montblanc enters the national team as a blue chipper that could become another diamond if well worked. She's now with Altomare from Felix and could have a hard time playing against her comrades from Northern Stars.

COACH
Lynette Bourbon (Matthew City Rangers - Northern Sunrise Islands) [+1,5]
The coach of the team, considered a smart woman for getting NSI at a better place than what was expected for them all along. While she doesn't know whether the future is shining for her or not, Bourbon is slowly maturing to be a good coach and could raise some eyebrows in the next tournaments.

Changes from WC64 are struck through.

Goalies

Tyson Richards- #1- 25
Nick DeJesus- #2- 23
Michael Kerraway- #4- 30

Back to normal for the goalies. This should come to WC66.
Defense

Left Back- Lee Matthewson- #66- 25
Center Back- Cliff Palmer- #9- 23
Center Back- Ryan Jefferson- #13- 29
Right Back- Alejandro Mujica- #5- 27
Backup- Shawn Campbell- #10- 25
Backup- Dennis Scott- #55- 33
Backup- Joe Evans- #12- 23

RECAP: Bryan Ferguson really shook things up bringing in Llamaland Premier League star Alejandro Mujica to play Right, booting Cliff Palmer to center where Jeff James finally gets taken out. Also out of the starting 4 is Shawn Campbell. It's a better D than 64, but Mujica and Ryan Jefferson need to guide youngsters Lee Matthewson [25] Palmer [23]. Mujica is tremendous at stopping the ball, but he needs to stop running with it and use strong passers Ryan Jefferson and Cliff Palmer. Ferguson says Campbell will get about thirty minutes a game as a "defensive super-sub" and is happy with his position. Campbell: "Obviously I'd like to start, but this is as close as I can get to starting." Dennis Scott claws his way in as a vet.

MIDFIELDERS

Left- Jared Mullin- #40- 21
Center- Chris Chapman- #22- 23
Attacking- CAPTAIN Trevor Duncan- #17- 25
Right- ASSISTANT CAPTAIN John Oliver- #30- 31
Backup- Chris May- #33- 28
Backup- Robby Greene- #27- 23
Backup- James McGee- #0- 26

RECAP: Jared Mullin is back on the starter's side with the Chris May injury. Robby Greene claws his way back onto the team.
STRIKERS

Left- ASSISTANT CAPTAIN Evan Powell- #36- 24
Right- Bobby Crosby- #43- 21
Backup- Mark Wayne- #82- 24 Luis Alcanatra- #14- 22
Backup- Johnny Rushmore- #15- 22

RECAP: The never-used Mark Wayne finally goes with twenty-two-year old Luis Alcanatra coming off the bench. Alcanatra provides balance in tandem with Bobby Crosby should Evan Powell go off while Rushmore's all-out attack mode fits with Evan Powell's game. We know Trevor Duncan will be great, but Powell needs to play well this cup.

PK Order (if they're on)
Duncan
Powell
Crosby
Rushmore
Mullin
Oliver
Mujica
Chapman
May
Alcanatra
(if you get to here, just make it up)

RP Note 1: Soccer hasn't quite caught on with the males of TSE, so 2/3 of the roster are girls. The Sovan public doesn't have a problem with this, but feel free to RP it up.
RP Note 2: These are not ranked by skill. Use any of these, as they will probably be used at random.
RP Note 3: Jade Bird has given up only 1 goal the whole cycle, and that was near the end of the season when she injured herself. If you score against me, either score against Trevor Grey, or TG me first.

Filopines national football team
Cup of Harmony 57 Roster

Manager
Harley Reid (Aged 49)
2nd Cup of Harmony

Tactics
Formation - 4-2-2-2
Style - +3.5

Goalkeepers
Kenneth Nolder (20) - GK - Far Point Islanders (The Babbage Islands)
The young man from Lavande has risen high and has shot his way up to the number-one goalkeeper in the nation. He was also the first ever Filopinian player to play in a domestic league in another nation.

John Garcia (28) - GK - Fort Town Galaxy
Consistency is this man's middle name. He has shown this at both international and domestic level. Despite being ousted from his spot as number-one keeper for Filopines, he is still a star player.

Michael Lansangan (19) - GK - Port United
Still at the very young age of nineteen, Lansangan is still not yet the first choice keeper for Port United but is soon to be. Has great potential.

Defenders
Jason Dayley (30) - LB - Corvin Club de Fútbol Vice-captain
One of the greatest Filopinians to step out on the field, 2IC Jason Dayley is eager to play in a World Cup proper. Adored by many Filopinian fútbol fans.

Dale Sheldon (28) - LB - FC Dalusod
Flying under the radar until World Cup 64, Sheldon is now just a centimeter behind VC Dayley for a starting spot. Since David Arbeloa retired, a spot for a defender on the bench has freed up and Sheldon could fill that up perfectly.

Ben Arden (24) - CB - Barnton FC
Arguably the best centre-back in the entire Repúblika, Arden is also a high jumper and a good header.

Lawrence Cahill (20) - CB - Barnton FC
Cahill and Arden creates a impenetrable wall in defence for the present and the future. Playing on the same team in the Filopines Premier League, it's no wonder that Barnton are the reigning champions.

Jared Del Mar (31) - CB - New Capiz Wanderers
Despite his age, this is his first call-up to the national team. Very strong header.

Mark Viney (25) - RB - Ebbtoll Fury
Provides speed and skill from the defence and sets up fantastic goals.

Robin Tuazon (17) - RB - Lavande United
Aged seventeen and already has been called-up for the national team. Very pacey.

Midfielders
Luis Rodriguez (26) - LDM - Fort Town Galaxy
The best midfielder in all of Filopines is ready to increase his fame world-wide.

Ross Hart (19) - RDM - AFC Darlington
A rising star. Touted to be a future vice-captain or maybe even captain.

Paul Rhett (41) - CDM - Retired at domestic level
The evergreen midfielder still has speed and skill despite his age. It is unknown if he will retire at the end of the campaign.

Thomas Rosberg (22) - CM - Luton Knights FC
Already a star despite still being at a tender age. Rosberg and Hart along with Rodriguez create a great partnership in the middle of the field.

Marcos Cabañas (17) - CM - Palace
Tall and strong and has amazing potential. He has the potential to play anywhere he wants.

Shaun Albrecht (25) - CAM - Downham FC
Star player for Downham, Albrecht receives his first call-up to the national team and is set to come bursting out of the blocks.

Forwards
Ahmed Dibay (20) - LS - Ebbtoll Fury
Star striker for Filopines. Possibly the quickest on his feet and the most skillful.

Jack Harodzic (24) - RS - Parkton FC
Harodzic is the typical big man in the box. Also quick on his feet.

Daniel Lao (18) - ST - Rosalo Fighters
Lao can be anything he wants to be in the future. He could even be a tree with his height.

Fernando Martinez (31) - ST - Foley Town
Last World Cup, he was always third in line. And he still is. Not much to say really. He is getting old, to be honest. Not much left to offer.

Jason Hale (31) - LW - Rosalo Fighters
Getting old but still a consistent performer.

Scott Danson (23) - LW - Parkton FC
Hopes to take advantage of Hale's age and take over his spot in the starting lineup.

Stephen Cayley (21) - RW - Fort Town Galaxy Captain
High expectations to perform as he is the captain but never fails. Consistent performer always.

Aaron Bolbing (28) - RW - Corvin Club de Fútbol
The x-factor of the team. Very skillful and very speedy.

TEAM CASSADAIGUA- CUP OF HARMONY 57

Coach: Brittany Lawton, 2nd World Cup
Brief Bio: Brittany was the leader of the senior team for the first time in World Cup 64, and previous she was the coach of several Di Bradini Cup sides. It was not an easy task to take on a team returning to the World Cup, and with all of the outside distractions, the fact that Cassadaigua had a chance to advance to the playoff on the final matchday is deemed a success. Her playing days saw her participate in five World Cups (53-57), as a forward. There are some that feel that her #10 should be added to the list of retired numbers, but CASE has been reluctant to retire numbers of post-World Cup 51 players.

Cassadaigua, when failing to qualify for the World Cup, traditionally keeps the roster in tact for the Cup of Harmony and this is no exception.

Starters in Green

Following game 2 if CoH: Leonard is benched, and in her place, Brian Chapman, a 22-year old forward will start. Chapman became the most prolific male goal scorer in Collegiate Cassadagan history. He will wear #46. (there's a reason for that number)

Retired Kit Numbers:
#1 is retired in honor of Allison Salamida
#5 is retired in honor of Michelle Fuller
#7 is retired in honor of Shannon Myers
#10 is retired in honor of Brittany Lawton
#11 is retired in honor of Courtney Ferguson

#14 is retired in honor of Stacie Kerrigan-Fraser
#15 is retired in honor of Erica Lambert
#17 is retired in honor of Jessica Schanke
#18 is retired in honor of Taylor Connolly

When visiting Concord Heights Stadium, the South End Zone has a “Monument Wall” in honor of these players; think Yankee Stadium.
The North End Zone has something similar in honor of World Baseball Classic players.

Style: -2

Manager: Bridget Scroves

Goalkeepers:
1. Joshua Farthing (Sporting Esper) (m) Gives his own lipogram interviews, which is basically where we want to set our goalkeeper-eccentricity levels in general.
13. Emily Winters-Neumann (Twineur Bugs) (f) Somewhat more withdrawn.
23. Bruce Millar (Excelsior Slogda) (m) The more outgoing one.

Defenders:
2. Dima Novak (Athletik Thessia) (m) (1 goal) Tallest starter.
3. Jerzy McFetridge (Keppal Cosmos) (m) (1 goal) Fast going forward, also can be quick to sort of come to terms with weird stuff going on and adjust to that.
4. Brett Chrowder (Canbix Muses) (m) The captain, and a serious business type.
5. Vipin Lamin (Namiri Forest) (m) Kind of wry, likes pithy lists.
15. Marlene Jamieson (Keppal Cosmos) (f) Has a flair for show biz, which hopefully does not mean that she's a diver.
19. Luanne Delvale (Arlington City) (f) Drawing comparisons to our first captain from the old team (because of being a Lutheran dork worked up about weird multiverse theories, not for being good at defense).
21. Angela Rose-Dauphine (Spenson Suburbia) (f) (first tournament: WC65)
22. Sara Hale-Barnard (Canbix Muses) (f) Draws professional fouls.

Midfielders:
6. Patricia Eliot (Canbix Muses) (f) (2 goals) Draws...unprofessional fouls.
7. Joan Gerland (Spenson Suburbia) (f) (3 goals)
8. Davi Keane-Liuprand (Ephesian FC) (m) (1 goal)
10. Martina Ruan (FTC United) (f) (4 goals) Relatively proud of Zwangzug's quirks, wants to show them off and not be just another country.
11. Ted Silla-Raty (Twineur Bugs) (m) Widest starter. Switches between central and defensive midfield, and back.
12. Xolani McKiegna (102d Jr.s) (m) (3 goals) Brother-in-law of a top-level sailor. Likes tactics, wants to coach someday.
14. Tullio Schi (Bassabook Old Boys) (new)
16. Antje Kurzmann-Tremme (Eintracht Trink) (f) (3 goals) Concerned about self-/family-defense now that she's a big time person. Nervy, not in a good way.
17. Rudolf Sternberg (Ephesian FC) (m) (first tournament: WC65) Hails from Clunvers, the suburb with the "Big Max" meteorite fiasco, and glad to be making his name for something else.
18. Shula Bachchan-Laum (Namiri Independent) (f) (1 goal) Argumentative, although not so much with the ref, just likes to get the last word.

Forwards:
9. Loris Muraro-Ughi (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (8 goals) Snores and can be picky about music.
20. Khamisi McCluey (Rovers United) (m) (new)
The normal starters are 1-11, though this will likely change. The most likely starting formation would be:
...............__________................
...............|Farthing|.................
McFetridge..Chrowder..Novak..Lamin
..............Eliot....Silla-Raty..........
................Keane-Liuprand...........
.............Ruan......Gerland...........
...............Muraro-Ughi ...............

When not indicated, players debuted in the WC64 qualifiers. The reserve defenders would tend to line up (right to left as they see it, or left to right in this diagram) as Rose-Dauphine, Jamieson, Delvale, Hale-Barnard if they're all playing at once. The midfielders would have Bachchan-Laum and Sternberg in defensive midfield, Kurzmann-Tremme in the center, and Schi and McKiegna as attacking midfielders. Expect plenty of variation, particularly up front--we wouldn't want to risk inflating the lone striker's goal tallies, though then again we're not expecting to have much in the way of goal tallies, period. Zwangzug play a defensive style, as noted, and while they'll obviously be weak overall they're particularly unskilled on headers. Some players might chance a professional foul, but they're really not a violent team.

More than you ever wanted to know about Zwangzug can be found in our factbook, a pastiche of in-jokes, allusions, moments of pride, retconned "what was I thinking?!" moments, and much more from the last, er, six-plus years. Unless you wanted to know things like "why are there so many -ed names" (egalitarian parents, not being posh) or "what about the Mc" (it's a common morpheme among our Bigtopian community, who knows why). Well, if you have more questions, you can ask.

In particular, a summary of the original national team's history (fl. WC33-42) is available. I should really get to wikifying biographical pages for some of the more colorful bygone players. Poke me about that.

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, all-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense.

If you'd like to collaborate on a storyline, drop me a telegram! Always up for new ideas.

NEU ENGOLLON NATIONAL FOOTBALL SQUAD
'MOUNTAIN GOATS'

The Neu Engollon National Football team, The Goats, have now been through 2 International tournaments in a row and gained a valuable load of experience as they go into the Cup of Harmony. With the full support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, as well as NEFA, the Neu Engollon Football Association, they have driven on, earning some spectacular victories, but being dealt to the bottom of the pile by countless falls to veteran teams who have been on the global circuit longer. If only Neu Engollian sports fans would get behind their footie stars like they do their ruggers, the sport might be able to climb in stature in the Confederacy. NETV Sports 7 has promised to spotlight several of the players during the Cup of Harmony coverage and give equal airtime to the Cup along with the anticipated prep for the upcoming Rugby League World Cup. We shall see.

NEW SIDEBURN
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2 diamond
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: Low on possession, but high on pressure, with fast play and short passing. Generally reliant on a stereotypical 'big guy/fast guy' strike partnership. Very physical, quite pacy.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: The Cormorants

New Sideburn’s national side have made their mark on the national scene and are feeling pretty bloody smug about it. Having shoved aside all competitors in their bloodthirsty conquest of the 51st Baptism of Fire, they proceeded to impress at the World Cup Qualifiers (with a respectable nine wins) before making it to the second round in the Cup of Harmony. They strut around like the coolest cats on the block, and they feel they’ve earned that right. Enigmatic bastard manager Gethin Ramsey has stuck to the same core of the squad as won him so much acclaim last time. New Sideburn’s training regimen follows a strict diet of beer and bar snacks, with the lads reluctant to partake in and indeed more than a little suspicious of ‘sports science’. New Sideburn is generally accompanied by its … rigorous support. They are loud and like to start fights, but are generally pretty matey when you get to know them.

Honours
Champions of the 51st Baptism of Fire.
Holders of the Campionato Esportiva and the Market Cup.

First Team
GK - 1 - Portia THRIFT
RWB - 2 - Anna SHRIKE
RCB - 3 - James YORKE
LCB - 5 - Rook HARM
LWB - 4 - Cathy STOKES
DM - 6 - Lucia OAKWOOD (c)
RM - 23 - Chase WINGETT
LM - 11 - Cheney ROSEWOOD
AM - 10 - Dale BRIGHTLEY
RS - 7 - Gerhard THUNDER
LS - 9 - Barry KEARNEY

Goalkeeper kit is as the above, but in terracotta, black and white.

My opponent MAY
Choose my goalscorers (Oakwood takes penalties, corners and direct free-kicks)
RP injuries to my players (maximum one, and I'll determine the exact severity)
Hand out yellow and red cards to my players (maximum one red every two games, unlimited cautions within reason)

My opponent MAY NOT
Godmod scoring events
Godmod injuries
Godmod other events

Gethin RAMSEY - 55
Manager

Ramsey terrified strikers all over the country as a merciless midfield enforcer playing for the Chenoworth Rovers, playing that role from 19 to 37, before going on to terrify his own team managing them. Four years of shouting death threats later, the Rovers had been hauled out of the First Division and into safety in the Premiership. A year later, he was managing the national side, traditionally seen as a thankless task beating up local Serenes neighbours and trying to upgrade perilously close 4-0 wins into merely underwhelming 9-0 ones. Eleven years in, and he’d spent enough time demanding reform that the NSFA finally relented, and joined the WCC to compete on the global level. Charismatic, determined and utterly ruthless, loved by fans and... viewed with a certain fondness by the players, Ramsey’s successes continued, and he has no intention of stopping here.

Escher SPEARE - 38
Assistant Manager

An intelligent tactician whose career was cut short by a debilitating injury at 25, Escher has devoted her time and energy to an uncanny understanding of the game. A supporter of attempts to bring sabremetrics into football, and with an uncanny ability to make overdetailed calculus understandable. She makes for a good foil for her temperamental guv'nor.
1 - Portia THRIFT - 35 - Riverside (Saugeais)
59 caps, 23 clean sheets

Some say Thrift is a specialist at saving penalties, but most tend to agree that Thrift is a specialist at saving everything. While not the tallest at 180 cm, making corners a relative weak point, she nonetheless combines agility, positioning and intellect. She has proven... somewhat inconsistent for the national team, her best run of form happening around the ‘minor blip’ of a 7-0 defeat, but she’s still proven herself to be the best around. Her form has won her a foreign contract at one of Saugeais' top sides, Riverside; she feels she has reached the peak of her options locally.

12 - James TURNSCREW - 32 - AFC Treason
3 caps, 2 clean sheets

A true defensive general who almost never concedes to a free kick, though his towering frame certainly helps that. James Turnscrew has won two titles for his club, and his only weakness appears to be his absurd moustacheless chinstrap beard.

20 - Paolo CREWE - 29 - Maximum City
1 cap, 1 clean sheet

Crewe seemed to have a lot to live up to, replacing the superb Rachel Barley at Maximum City, but he managed to succeed and arguably overshadow his former no. 1. A top goalkeeper who is happy to stay out of the spotlight and will perform exceptionally if thrust into it.
2 - Anna SHRIKE - 26 - Crisisbless
Right Wingback
63 caps, 2 goals

Anna Shrike is the redemption story of last cycle’s World Cup Qualifiers. A chunky, entirely one-footed, slightly absent-minded wingback, she is now one of the best players in the squad, galloping from end to end to threaten on the wings as well as coming back to defend. Her performances have stayed strong throughout 330, and this time around, nobody's questioning her inclusion.

3 - James YORKE - 22 - Sabrefell Moths
Centre-back
27 caps, 0 goals

Youthful, talented. Level-headed; rarely gives away a foul, rarer still is he carded. Always attentive, too, rarely makes unforced mistakes. And running, always running, a tireless bastion of industry. He's still young and still improving, but if you’ve already won two titles at this age you’re probably doing something right. Started many matches in the Market and Esportivan Cups, impressed in all his appearances, and his number appears to suggest he'll take the place of Strongnesse in the lineup.

4 - Cathy STOKES - 23 - AFC Treason
Left-back
37 caps, 1 goal

Cathy has blossomed lately; steadfast for country in late 330 and scoring the goal that won the Market Cup, while earlier this year she won the league with AFC Treason, proving a staunch defender and an increasingly skilled attacker. Most say she will no longer tolerate understudy work; she wants to be stamped into the team as a permanent fixture, and it's hard to argue against her.

5 - Rook HARM - 35 - Egloskerry (Apox)
Centre-back
59 caps, 1 goal

Every team needs someone capable of utterly pulverising the opposition’s most fancy, prone-to-diving, overpaid wanker, and willing to give him a good kicking when the ref’s looking the other way. Rook Harm is that man. A latecomer to the sport, Rook spent his late teenage years moonlighting as a bouncer as he went through the academy, and rather admirably married his experiences in both during his playing years. Oh, and don’t mistake his straightforward nature for stupidity. He’s an excellent defender with a remarkable instinct, and nobody knows better than him how to make a fair, or at least fair-looking challenge. Recently moved abroad to Egloskerry in Apox after an unsuccessful season for Crisisbless.

13 - Leila CORVETTE - 24 - Sabrefell Moths
Left Wingback
44 caps, 0 goals

Leila Corvette overcame dodgy lungs to play football, and while her stamina isn’t the best she’ll run like hell every match, the first to move up in attack and the first to dash back in defence. Her ball control can’t always quite keep up with her acceleration, but she can still pinpoint a corner exactly where the goalkeeper doesn’t want it to go. Has not necessarily finished more than about 70% of her starts.

17 - Jessica LOQUE - 27 - North Laithland
Right-back
5 caps, 0 goals

Gethin Ramsey's apparent preference for female wingbacks prevails yet again, though Loque is no slouch when it comes to ability or credentials. She's been a stalwart with North Laithland through the good times and the bad, and is the kind of player you sometimes overlook but who is always keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Had a quietly successful cycle so far.

22 - Olga NIHIL - 31 - Maximum City
Centre-back
13 caps, 0 goals

After a hilariously misspent 330 in which she moved to Vermillion Rage, was made captain, spoke out against the financial implosion happening behind the scenes, was never picked again and quietly moved back to Maximum in post-season, 331 has established that Olga intends to get back to winning ways, sooner rather than later. She's more than capable of taking up her position in central defence when needed.
Briefly considered to be elevated to the starting squad, before Rook Harm retook his place in the lineup.
6 - Lucia OAKWOOD (c) - 31 - Crisisbless
Defensive Midfielder
71 caps, 7 goals

Oakwood’s never been the fastest, nor the strongest. But if you want a holding midfielder who can shadow a man like nothing else, who can take back the ball and feed it into a counterattack as soon as you can blink, it’s her you want at your side. She is deadly accurate with a dead ball, though she more often aims for Gerhard’s head than for the goal. Oakwood has been capped in, and has in fact started, every one of New Sideburn's 71 WCC-approved international matches, scoring six times including the winning goal in the Campionato Esportiva. 330 has not been a good year for Lucia, as she struggled with injury for the first part of the season, but she promptly got back on track, helped Jess Mortlock get the team into a halfway acceptable final place and won the captaincy for the country.

8 - Grant BEARDSLEY - 33 - Parrhesia United
Right Winger
50 caps, 11 goals

The talisman of his team, Beardsley may as well have a stump for a right foot. Wouldn’t make much difference with how good he is cutting inside and striking in with the left. He scored perhaps the goal of the tournament to win the Baptism of Fire, before finally his connection with Anna Shrike began to click and the two became unstoppable down the wing. Beardsley went on to score the national side’s first hattrick. The winger is unstoppable on his day, though some are beginning to notice a slightly flagging pace.
Worryingly out of form for the national side... perhaps, at 33, Beardsley's career is starting to come to a close.

10 - Dale BRIGHTLEY - 24 - Basin Plain (United Gordonopia)
Attacking Midfielder
42 caps, 13 goals

The breakout player as far as New Sideburn's exports are concerned - he is complete in attack and now has a certain box-to-box energy about him that he lacked in his early days. He's in the prime of his career now, and makes for a truly fearsome number 10, connecting attack to defence with incisive passing and venomous strikes. That said, he's among the weediest of the squad, and can sometimes get totalled by a particularly thuggish defender; it's probably for the good of his career that he's escaped the New Sideburn Premiership.

11 - Cheney ROSEWOOD - 28 - Sabrefell Moths
Left Winger
68 caps, 12 goals

Whether it’s cutting inside or crossing, inswinging or outswinging, Rosewood’s up to the task. Despite an obnoxious soul patch, Rosewood’s feet are almost magical, the ball seemingly glued to them when he runs, and he runs faster than most to start with. While he isn’t skilled at covering his tracks in defence, he is nonetheless the shining individual talent within the team.
Played every game, scoring five times. The player of the cycle so far for the team.

16 - Darren PARRETT - 21 - Allouette Jonquiere (Sicoutamont)
Winger
3 caps, 0 goals

Parrett is an entirely two-footed winger capable of playing either side. Very young, very fast, and very professional for his age with an incredible workrate - a player with a real thirst for victory. Recently sealed a contract with a top Sicoutamont club, one of the four big names to be signed out at post-season; and don't let the lack of caps fool you, he is very much a big name. Or at least one in the making... after all, Rosewood's 28 already.

18 - Tarquin HADDINGS - 25 - Brookford Otters
Defensive Midfielder
4 cap, 0 goals

Why Haddings, many ask, when the veteran Dacia Mountain is available? Tarquin Haddings managed to anchor the Brookford Otters to success all season, so no wonder his talent is noted by many. While definitely an understudy to Lucia Oakwood, he will not hesitate to pick up the ball should it be required. His talents lie more in his pace and physicality and ever-chasing nature, however, and though sometimes his overenthusiastic nature leads to easy free kicks, he’s shown himself to be worth it if he can rein in his enthusiasm.

19 - Catherine SEDGWICK - 23 - Cranequin Wanderers
Attacking Midfielder
3 caps, 1 goal

The Wanderers are a decent side, but they really are a one-woman club; Sedgwick, for her part, has been the highest scoring midfielder in the Premiership two seasons running. She stays modest, however; after all, she says, "I'm just another cog in the machine." Colourful analogy aside, she's a stunning attacking midfielder and would even be able to step into centre-forward.
While the move is not yet official, Catherine has secured a move upmarket, to North Laithland. Given time, she might set her sights abroad.

23 - Chase WINGETT - 23 - AFC Treason
Right Winger
24 caps, 4 goals

Wingett never really seemed... complete, before. A work in progress; promising, but without the finishing touches. But this championship-winning season with AFC Treason has changed everything. Now Wingett is at the top of the world, and looks all but set to take over at the right wing from Grant Beardsley. A different style of player, to be sure, defined by staggeringly accurate crosses and bursts of speed, but his ability is unquestionable.
Superb form in the qualifiers has established him in the starting eleven, superceding the older and slower Grant Beardsley.
7 - Gerhard THUNDER - 29 - Sabrefell Moths
Striker
65 caps, 32 goals

Tall and broad-shouldered, Gerhard seems like he fits the mould for just another plodding target man. Unfortunately for defenses, he is far more than that, able to control the ball remarkably well on the ground as well, shoots with real venom and he even fits the mould for a Sideburnese forward in that he’s able to dispossess the opposition fairly well. Pace is a weak point, but perhaps his only one.

9 - Barry KEARNEY - 29 - Royalwich (Saugeais)
Striker
25 caps, 13 goals

Strapping, boisterous, unsubtle Barry Kearney still plays like a 19-year old. Fast, strong and skilled, just don't expect him to follow through on any deep plans; he plays in the moment. Gets caught offside a lot, but his bashful, overenthusiastic nature makes him impossible to hate. His energy lends him a certain super-substitute quality, and the ability to breathe fresh life into a stalemate. Recently taken on by a recently promoted Saugeais squad.
A slow starter in the qualifiers, but he ultimately fired in seven crucial goals, and his supporting role is not to be underestimated.

14 - Leyland STALLION - 25 - Southfell United
Striker
7 caps, 1 goal

Never really a success for the national squad, yet it appears Ramsey is willing to give him another shot after a season in which Southfell once again overperformed to reach 6th. Unselfish, often seen as a supporting striker, but last season really showed that he's a potent target man himself when needed, and his blistering pace can only help that.

15 - Alicia SCABBARD - 27 - Crisisbless
Striker
49 caps, 22 goals

Short, lean and sickeningly talented, Scabbard runs like a cheetah and fires stunning shot after shot. While her technique is superb, her composure sometimes can be found wanting, and she’s certainly not the strongest striker in the world. That said, she’s fiercely tenacious, immensely skilled and sometimes proves simply untouchable in possession. She’s unselfish, too, and knows when someone else has the better chance at the goal. Seemingly demoted to substitute if the numbers are anything to go by, but don't underestimate her... she was a damn good partner for Gerhard Thunder, and nothing has changed except for a single bad season.

21 - Tara LOCKDOWN - 26 - AFC Treason
Striker
9 caps, 3 goals

A lanky striker with blue-dyed hair, Tara Lockdown now has a title to her name, heading the attack with Bruce Payne for Treason. Slow, but breathtakingly resilient forward, able to hold up possession in her hands while the rest of her team rushes upfield for seemingly forever in what fans have affectionately dubbed ‘Tara Time’. Great in the air and a decent shot, though more of a goal-poacher than anything.
While Tara has failed to gain success as a substitute striker, the superb season she's coming off of is proof she's not to be underestimated.
1 - Portia Thrift (vc) (Riverside)
12 - James Turnscrew (AFC Treason)
20 - Paolo Crewe (Maximum City)

2 - Anna Shrike (Crisisbless)
3 - James Yorke (Sabrefell Moths)
4 - Cathy Stokes (AFC Treason)
5 - Rook Harm (Egloskerry)
13 - Leila Corvette (Sabrefell Moths)
17 - Jessica Loque (North Laithland)
22 - Olga Nihil (Maximum City)

6 - Lucia Oakwood (c) (Crisisbless)
8 - Grant Beardsley (Parrhesia United)
10 - Dale Brightley (Basin Plain)
11 - Cheney Rosewood (Sabrefell Moths)
16 - Darren Parrett (Allouette Jonquiere)
18 - Tarquin Haddings (Brookford Otters)
19 - Catherine Sedgwick (Cranequin Wanderers)
23 - Chase Wingett (AFC Treason)

7 - Gerhard Thunder (Sabrefell Moths)
9 - Barry Kearney (Royalwich)
14 - Leyland Stallion (Southfell United)
15 - Alicia Scabbard (Crisisbless)
21 - Tara Lockdown (AFC Treason)
The old ways were best!

Original nation behind Nephara. New Sideburn now symbolises an ideal, rather than a nation.

BRENECIA
Preferred Formation:
4-5-1/4-3-3
Style Modifier: -1.5
Playstyle: Very physical, reliant on pace. Favours extensive use of wing play, with a big striker at the end of it. Low on possession, scores many goals on the counterattack. Hemingway favours a more cautious strategy than Lawless did.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: the Patriots

A former colony of New Sideburn, they won independence through a rather overzealous uprising (ending in victory within three months because New Sideburn’s military gave up and went home). They’ve been at peace ever since, though Brenecians tend to regard themselves as eternal archrivals of their mainland ‘opponents’. Despite a Baptism of Fire that ended in failure, the Patriots still have a promising future, and it wasn't a total loss; in five games, they held four clean sheets.

[spoiler=STAFF]
Clint HEMINGWAY - 51
Manager

A dead hard country lad with three hundred guns, unerring faith in God and a fundamental belief that the day belongs to those with the balls to grab it by the neck. Go in hard and never say die, that's the motto he lives for and dies by. Attractive football: decidedly optional. He's made just a single change to the side, though; Huckerby is out for being a million years old and Brad Kuepper is in because he's been training with the team anyway and they already have the Kuepper - 24 shirt.

Garrett HIGHBURY - 68
Assistant Manager

Highbury spent most of his career as gaffer for various clubs, and now in his semi-retirement acts as Lawless’ loudspeaker. He excels at shouting at people hard enough to force them to go that extra mile. His experience also lends him a deep respect for youth and the ability of players to grow into new roles; most agree he was largely responsible for the decision to pick a very young squad.
1 - Stephen MANSFIELD - 29 - Northern Union
A relatively young, ambitious goalkeeper who lead Northern Union to not only win the the league but to the final of the Serenes Champion's Cup. He's an extremely intuitive positioner with superb reflexes. He's a little ropey with corners, however, and his handling could use work. Even so, he's an asset to the squad, and won't let the side down.

20 - Bryan KENWAY - 36 - North Hall
Even at 36, Kenway is in fine physical shape, able to bulldoze people out of his way and win the ball. He's a powerful kicker of the ball, as well, and these long passes have proven unnervingly accurate over the years. Age may have tarnished his reflexes, but he's a more than able backup for the younger Mansfield.

21 - Felix CARRICK - 25 - Violence Chariots (New Sideburn)
Carrick marshalled the back line of the Chariots in a surprisingly good season for the Sideburnese team; they stood fourth at midseason. He's quickly maturing into a stunning goalkeeper, and it likely won't be long until he holds the #1 jersey.
2 - Alexis SILENCE - 26 - Northern Union
Left-back

A quiet young woman generally possessed of an ill temper, she has nonetheless proven vital to Northern Union's title challenge and cup success. 5’7” and wiry, her strength belies her small frame, and her versatility enables her to serve in attack as well as defence. Her discipline is the only thing that lets her down; she was once red carded in consecutive starts.

3 - Leo MUSKET (c) - 31 - AFC Kingsgrove
Centre-back

A strong bulwark in defence, someone you can trust to have standing by your side. Unparalleled at man-marking, especially in a corner. Somewhat prone to optimistic long shots, but he’s rarely upfield anyway; very much a man with a traditional hunting ground, and in that defensive third he is king.

4 - Larissa FIDELITY - 30 - Rozelle
Centre-back

Prematurely grey, Fidelity’s age at 30 lends her a veteran quality that this young team badly needs. She may not be a wonder in the air, but she’s got remarkable ball control, great pace and an uncanny ability to dispossess someone without crippling them.

5 - Bruce MORANT - 33 - AFC Integabad
Centre-back

Despite enduring a rocky season with AFC Integabad, Morant remains the natural choice as backup to the starting central defence. An enforcer with no mercy for the enforced, and while his playstyle doesn’t really extend beyond that it never really needs to, either. After all, if all you have is a hammer..

15 - Joan CALWAY - 28 - Ridgeway United
Right-back

Calway acts more as the traditional right-back of the squad, while Allbeck is more prone to upfield runs. She’s solid, dependable and can stick to a man like glue if you need her to. Calway has never been sent off or given away a penalty in her professional career.

17 - Samantha.ALLBECK - 23 - South Laithland (New Sideburn)
Right-back

Sam Allbeck has been a successful and integral part of South Laithland’s fairly solid three-man defence. That alone is a credential that’s valuable to many. Why is she that good? Not only is she fast, nippy and tenacious, but she’s known for her long-range strikes. Unnervingly often, they hit the target.

22 - Tomas PROUDFOOT - 30 - Violence Chariots (New Sideburn)
Left-back

The third Chariot in the squad, Proudfoot stayed with the Chenoworth Harriers throughout their turbulent Premiership battles for survival, even in 329 when they failed. Now with a five-year contract at the Chariots, he hopes his tireless play, his remarkable pace and his ability to masquerade as a centre-back will take him far.
6 - John LYONS (vc) - 32 - Scaffield
Defensive Midfielder

The oldest player in the starting eleven, and vice-captain. Large, barrel-chested and good-natured, his subtle technique in attack begins and ends at ‘hoof the ball upfield’. As a holding midfielder, however, he is ideal, slowly moving to wherever he’s needed but always there in time to deny an opportunity, excelling at short, quick passes to open teammates and able to analyse the entire line of sight at a glance.

7 - Ashleigh TWINING - 27 - Crisisbless (New Sideburn)
Attacking Midfielder

One of the most hyped signings in the post-328 transfer window, Twining was meant to be the signing that sealed Crisisbless’ title victory once and for all. It didn’t really work, shunting them from 4th to 3rd, though they did win the Cup. Even so, Twining remains a hot prospect with unmatched ball control, an unselfish nature and a keen eye for goal.

8 - Rhys FONTAINE - 30 - Scaffield
Attacking Midfielder

A versatile attacking player who can double as a second, fast striker in event of a change to 4-4-2, Fontaine’s sixth sense is uncanny. He’s a real goal poacher, and can stride confidently forward to put himself in the perfect position to smugly sidefoot in a goal. His only downfall is lacking Twining’s insight.

11 - Fiona SYLVER - 27 - Violence Chariots (New Sideburn)
Central Midfielder

Sylver’s experience in the New Sideburn Premiership as a small, wiry playmaker have taught her the ins and outs of playing in her allies neatly and efficiently. When the team needs a flat four in midfield, or a playmaker to centre the flow of the game around, or even just someone equally skilled going forward and back, Sylver is the go-to lass.

13 - Vince RIGGS - 25 - AFC Chafford
Defensive Midfielder

Big, solid, workmanlike Vinny Riggs has a lantern jaw and permanent five-o’clock shadow, and also hunts down other midfielders like they’re his prey. He’s a holding midfielder that lacks finesse, but makes up for this with his sheer physicality. Also capable of massive long throws.

16 - Richard STERN - 28 - Envy River
Defensive Midfielder

Stern goes that extra distance to make certain there’s no mischief. Off the ball, there’s none better at anticipating play and calculating his own placement. He’s the man who stayed behind when a corner went bad, or throws himself at the ball to get a stoppage time goal. It is uncertain whether this is an incredible sixth sense or sheer luck, but it gets results.

23 - Jonathan IRONGATE - 30 - Rozelle
Defensive Midfielder

A holding midfielder with absolutely no qualms about professional fouls or tactical yellow cards; anything to get one over on the referee. He goes in hard for the ball without really caring what’s in his way. He’s also fast, though he lacks composure in front of goal and his ball control could be better.
9 - Leigh COURAGE - 20 - Northern Union
Left Winger

While certainly capable of great things, Leigh Courage, the youngest player in the squad, is somewhat overshadowed by understudying to national phenomenon Miriam Spitfire. Courage, unlike Spitfire, allows for a little more tactical depth, preferring to go inside and shoot with her favoured right. While her defensive capabilities aren’t spectacular, she can still go far as a player, and likely will.

10 - Miriam SPITFIRE - 22 - Envy River
Left Winger

Spitfire’s strength is in her thunderous left foot, generally used to rake venemous crosses down the field. She also excels at striking from distance, though she is not a natural goalscorer. Right now, she’s the shining talent of the team, and in future years she may well become the greatest player to ever don the blue and white.

12 - Bryan RESPECT - 27 - Westpyke FC
Right Winger

Bryan Respect has never stayed more than two and a half years at a club, not counting loans; he claims he gets sick of staying in one place. So it is with his playstyle; making runs and creating opportunities all over the pitch, he has a remarkable insight for creating forward passes for others, and specialises at clinical near-post finishing.

14 - Edmund PIKE - 30 - Scaffield
Striker

A big target man who sometimes takes a while to get started, but when fully fit and warmed up he’s good to go the whole match. Always a threat with the ball, and while ball control isn’t his forte he is very capable of smashing in goals with his feet as well as his head. Capable of wresting back possession from the opposition, and even playing in central midfield in a pinch. Appears to have recovered from injury just in time.

18 - James MACBETH - 25 - Sabrefell Moths (New Sideburn)
Right Winger

The Patriots’ strengths stem from their wing play, and Macbeth is one of their star wingers who will, ideally, start every game fully fit. At the pinnacle of physical condition, with a good combination of pace and control. Two-footed, though he prefers his left, and thus able to cut inside to score goals when needed. He lead Rozelle to a 4th placed finish and a Cup win before following the money in a big signing for the Sabrefell Moths. The star man of the team.

24 - Brad KUEPPER - 24 - AFC Kingsgrove
Striker

A young, raw-boned striker more in the mould of a Sideburnese centre-forward than a Brenecian. Helicoptered in as the replacement of Pike, he's there as backup now that Pike's regained fitness.[spoiler=SIMPLIFIED ROSTER]
1 - Stephen Mansfield (Northern Union)

The Inevitable Syndicate National Football Team
For The Cup of Harmony 57
After just missing out on qualification by falling short in the second half of qualifying, the Syndicate return for their third consecutive Cup of Harmony. After achieving the exact same result (17th, just missing out on the Ro16 by a hairs breadth), can the team push a little harder and go onwards towards victory?

Svenga Squad for the 57th CoH

The Coach: Simon Andfossen (42 years old) Style Mod: +3.75

Tragically struck by the loss of his wife in the middle of the last qualifying campaign, Simon is not half the man he used to be. Once a fluid, energetic man with a total passion for the game, was turned into a quiet, withdrawn figure with a drinking problem who once tried to take his own life in an Aguazul hotel room, but was foiled by two team members. He plays now with a very rigid style, playing a 4-4-1-1 with two wide men in the form of Lager and Ruotsalainen. Playing in between the midfield and the lone striker, Truls Waaserson, is former-striker Svein Danielsen.

Assistant Coach: Kuri Levallånen (40 years old)

He comes into the side in rather unfortunate circumstances. Former Assistant Coach Röben Eriksson, former soldier, has retired from coaching due to the injuries he sustained whilst fighting got worse. Kuri was coach of Stormskamer IGK before taking the assistant coaching role, and had taken them to a Supercup victory three years ago. Despite his young years, he has plenty of experience and is always has a calm voice to give to the often on edge Andfossen.

Team Psychologist: Dr. Milia Vevkavas (30 years old)

Psychology graduate from Helsirn University of Human Studies, the surprisingly attractive Milia is solely on the team to keep Simon in check. He can be volatile at some points, depressed at others, and this needs to be watched at all times.

Pal Lorsen (19 caps - 0 goals - 29 y/o - FCK Lupa)

Pal has replaced WC62 regular Toms Holt due to Holt's recurring finger injury. Pal is a few years younger than his superior, but is a talented goalkeeper nonetheless. He is 6ft 3" and is imposing in the goal, which make him a penalty expert. He likes making saves, and has a hollywood flair about the saves he makes. He is known for his big right foot, and can kick from one area to the other and watch out for him in the opposition box in the final minutes...

Dagfinn Simoneit (3 caps - 0 goals - 31 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

Normally the third string keeper who rarely got a run out, Dag has been promoted to substitute keeper because of Holt's injuries. Has kept for seven years in Stormskamer and is a reliable choice for the team. He is strong behind the ball and can make good saves. His bravery in the box is second to none, and he will charge out to meet a corner in a crowded box or drop at the feet of a charging striker to smother the ball.

Vanja Albertsen (0 caps - 0 goals - 19 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

A new talent rising up through the ranks of the domestic league, Vanja stands at a staggering 6ft 10", and has the natural build for a goalkeeper. Although he might not be fully ready for the big occasion of the World Cup, he is certainly a talent to watch out for in the future.

Defenders

Kappo Strostrand (52 caps - 1 goal - 36 y/o - Helsirn CSKA) (Captain)

Kappo replaces Torbjørn Lindstørm as captain, as the 37 year old retires from international football. He was always odds on to become captain after the grizzled central defender finally left. Kappo plays as a right back, but floats in the third centre back position and can also be called upon as a wing back when it's needed. Strong and powerful with a dash of pace, almost unbeatable in the air and in 50/50 chances with attacking players. Capable of taking free-kicks as well. This competition will Kappo's last in international football.

Reko Saari (12 caps - 0 goals - 31 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

He was initially brought into the side to replace Thorvald Thomasson, but has now fully replaced the 32-year old in the squad. Thomasson has been dropped to the reserve squad. Saari is a big man who creates a big presence in the centre of defence. Saari, despite being on of the youngest in the ageing defence, he is still a leader and can pull all of the team together in times of emergency. He can also be a threat down the other end of the pitch when it comes to corners and crosses.

Georg Raske (35 caps - 0 goals - 29 y/o - GKS Erem)

A substitute who has benefited from Andfossen's crazy policy of constantly changing his starting XI, he has benefited from this match experience which he would otherwise not get. His football has developed a lot since being with the national squad, and he is a very good defender. Smaller than your average defender, but no less strong or enthusiastic to the game.

Saar Bjørnsen (7 caps - 0 goals - 25 y/o - FCK Lupa)

A debutant in the side, replacing former captain Torbjørn Lindstørm. He certainly has big shoes to fill, replacing the man who controlled the side when they won the Baptism of Fire two years ago, winning a WCC-Sanctioned event, which most Countries could only dream of. But Bjørnsen has been tipped to be the new Lindstørm. He is bigger than his predecessor, standing at 6ft 4" inches, he is not someone you want to run into at speed. In the side for the long term...

Luka Jarvinen (27 caps - 0 goals - 25 y/o - GKS Erem)

Overshadowed by the likes of Lindstørm and Thomasson, Jarvivnen has not as much game time as he perhaps should do, and is a real gem of a player who has not been fully discovered by Andfossen. He moves with incredible pace when chasing down opposition attackers, and is always in the right place to block a shot or make that last ditch tackle which he has done plenyt of times in the past. Good friends with both Raske and Levallånen, they like to joke around and the occasionally don't take the game entirely seriously.

Mikkel Strand (19 caps - 1 goals - 27 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

He has not quite come into his prime yet, and he's spent a lot of time warming the bench, wrapped up in the numerous layers of SFA-supplied kit. When he has played, for just 8 games in various friendlies, he has shown an adept ability to use the ball from deep and create situations from defence. If he perhaps gets a bit more game time, he could develop his skills and become a real talent, perhaps playing in Defensive midfield or even Midfield.

Vilmar Naess (30 caps - 3 goals - 27 y/o - Helsirn CSKA)

A regular starter under Andfossen, the coach seems to enjoy his free-fleeing ability. He prefers playing as a wing back, and even has an international goal to his name. Along with his pace and ball skills, he can deliver heavy tackles and is very strong on his feet, so is hard to knock over in a challenge. Charismatic and clever, he can often annoy slower-minded players with his remarks, which get him into all kinds of scrapes...

Midfielders

Hakan Lager (29 caps - 1 goals - 27 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

A youthful and dynamic footballer, Hakan is powerful on both the wing and in and around the area. He has been second place to Jazēps Vang in recent times, and it looks to continue like that as Vang has put in some particularly good performances over the last few months. But nevertheless he has everything a good winger needs: pace, power and good passing ability.

Seppi Steffansson (30 caps - 4 goals - 36 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

He and Kappo Strostrand are kind of the grandfather figures of this relitavely young team. With the retirement of Lindstørm, Steffansson has now had to take a big role as vice-captain and a role model to the team. He gives an excellent playing role model as a defensive midfielder. Strong and sturdy, with a great range of passes, from the 4ft lay-off to the defence splitting over-the-top ball. All-pervasive and always seems to be in centre of the pitch, dictating the pace and tempo of the game.

Bern Harmandsson (23 caps - 4 goals - 30 y/o - Rasmussen SK)

A great attacking midfielder who has favoured selection over the last few games over his more-defensive counterparts in Andfossen's attempt to score more goals. But with all the coach's efforts, Harmandsson can't provide all the goals for the side, but he tries, with 3 international goals in 15 caps. Lethal at close range with agile reflexes capable of springing onto any pass or loose ball, he also works as a link man between the midfield and Waaserson and Barlow.

Timo Laathi (14 caps - 0 goals - 22 y/o - West Skal City SK)

Former captain of the U21s, Timo is one of the few players who make the leap from U21 regular to first team regular. No one is sure why there aren't more. Timo is a good roving midfielder, who can operate both in a central role or as a winger or attacking midfielder, but can also drop back and defend like a centre back or a sweeper would. Good close control and excellent footwork make him troublemaker for opposition defences, and also has a good close range shooting ability.

Torleif Olhauser (46 caps - 1 goals - 32 y/o - Helsirn CSKA)

The face of the Svenga football team's WC63 campaign, there is massive expectation on both him and the team. Tor, as he's known, is the heart of the team, dictating everything from his perch in the centre of the pitch. He doesn't like to go forward, and will hang back during most attacking set-plays. He has eagle-like vision and is known for his perfect passing and his ability to find space and find it for other players.

Jazēps Vang (31 caps - 5 goals - 24 y/o - DGNC Helsingborg)

The joint youngest player in the side, Vang has the advantage of having his whole career ahead of him. He likes to experiment with the ball, and will often try outrageous tricks, just to see if they work. When on form, he is unstoppable, every trick seeming to come off and every reverse-spinning-backheel finding its target. Combine this ingenuity with proper winger's pace always make him a joy to watch for any football fan.

Rihards Ruotsalainen (35 caps - 11 goals - 33 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

Arguably Svengarda's most successful player, his skill (and a certain journalist) warranted him a place in the World XI (although one lacking several top teams), although as a substitute. Raw pace and good footwork make him a first-choice winger for any side, and 5 goals show off his goal scoring ability from around the area. He has been in rampant form for his domestic club PPMPA Korska, starting all 30 games last season and scoring 21, picking up the Midfielder of the Year award last season.

Strikers

Truls Waaserson (47 caps - 27 goals - 30 y/o - Morata Valley (Vilita)

Svengarda's goal factory, and main source of goals for the entire Andfossen regime. A superb first and final touch make Truls deadly as soon as he picks up the ball in the area. He works a lot off his team, taking crosses from the wingers and through-balls from midfielders, and works well by himself or with fellow strikers. In this case, he will be working in front of Svein Danielsen/Edward Barlow as the sole striker.

Svein Danielsen (34 caps - 13 goals - 28 y/o - Ferdullaele FC (Farfadillis)

A striker on the same par as Truls Waaserson when it comes to goal scoring ability, but Svein has had to live most of his footballing life in the attacking-midfield role, and that's where he'll play for this WC. Good speed and strength make him ideal for this role, as well as the skill of placing a pass, which is key for playing a single striker. Making a name for himself overseas in Farfadillis, scoring more goals of Ferdullaele FC than the legendary Val Kylx.

Serko Jansen (4 caps - 1 goals - 24 y/o - FCK Lupa)

The second debutant in the side along with defender Saar Bjornsen, Serko has gained his place on the merit of his domestic performances for FCK Lupa. His appearance in the side is much to the distaste of the player he replaced; Boghos Danielsen. Serko doesn't expect much play, but when he does, he adds an element of the sublime to his play, and has a habit for scoring some quite brilliant goals, from 25-yard screamers to deft chips.

Paavo Jakobsen (0 caps - 0 goals - 19 y/o - DGNC Helsingborg)

In a side where players are getting old, Paavo adds that little spark that keeps the team going. He is a brilliant athlete and an amazing close-control expert. His size, 5ft 2", is beneficial to his talent, as he is able to jink and weave his way through large, slow defenders. Combine that with lightning quick reflexes and a powerful shot, Jakobsen is a rising superstar.

Introducing the Barunia Suns Cup of Harmony 57 campaign!

With the dust settling on what was a poor finish on a great start for the Suns in the World Cup Qualifiers, the attention now turns to the Cup of Harmony. There have been some changes in the line up, especially in defence, with the Suns hoping to improve on last year's CoH performance and actually win a game. Or even score a goal for that matter, something they failed to do in CoH56.

Coach: Stephen Wiggens
Assistant Coach: Joric Ruskin
NB: As is typical of football teams in Barunia, the Suns do not have a manager. The Coach is responsible for managing the team.

Formation and Style
The Suns play a 3-1-3-1-2 formation, using specialised midfielders to provide extra offence or defence when needed. Typical Barunian play involves short passes through the midfield, working the ball up to the strikers. Attacks may be made by the two or three players, with the attacking midfielder (sometimes a centre forward) often pressing forward on goal. In defence, the Suns rely on a three layered defence, with the defensive midfielder as the first line. SHould he be beaten, the right and left centrebacks come into play. The third layer is the centreback, who rarely leaves the box. The Suns do not employ an offside trap.
