Nine.

The Burnham-on-Stove plan sounds like an excellent IC/RP opportunity, too. I urge you to take full advantage of it. (And yes, you are allowed to roleplay about your domestic league!)

Thanks, I think I'll take advantage of it and officialize the merger between the two nations during the World Cup that is coming soon. For the domestic part, I think I'll RP it as teams from Burnham were playing in a separate league and, with the merger, both leagues merged.

I miscalculated the numbers of teams that were needed at each round of the 15th Challengers Cup and corrected it in the access list post. So your first qualifying round matchup has probably changed.

I’m doing this when I’m tired at the end of a longer-than-usual work day, and it’s a bit complicated, so I’m posting the whole explanation of how I’m fixing it here, in case I’ve made some other completely silly mistake I’m not thinking of. I messed up in putting Mansandani Union into the Challengers Cup 4th qualifying round instead of Jinja City, and this has some knock-on effects because it messes up seedings.

Jinja City has a coefficient of 14.000, which would make it a seeded team in the 4th qualifying round draw. This creates a tie between Bassabook Old Boys (ZWZ) and 102d Jr.s (ZWZ) who both have a coefficient of 10.789. Through a coin flip,102d Jr.s is assigned to the seeded pot.

The draw should therefore have the following corrections:
Mansandani Union (ZIW): removed from the draw as an unseeded team
Jinja City (BNJ): put into the draw as a seeded team
Bassabook Old Boys (ZWZ): is now an unseeded team instead of a seeded team
102d Jr.s: No change, remains a seeded team

The following results were thus invalid:

(ZIW) Mansandani Union 5–3 102d Jr.s (ZWZ) 2–3 3–0
(TRL) Torquel Granittknuser 2–9 Bassabook Old Boys (ZWZ) 0–6 2–3

A simple swap preserving the original draw isn’t possible because two ZWZ teams cannot be paired against each other. 102d Jr.s (ZWZ) and Jinja City (BNJ) now both need unseeded opponents, while Torquel Granittknuser (TRL) and Bassabook Old Boys need different seeded opponents. To minimize the revision of existing results, but also since in principle they should have faced being drawn against all possible teams, I randomly drew one valid pairing to add to this swap: Chamberley City (SYL) vs. Ciudad Soluca (SRG).

N.b., by chance two of the affected teams were originally drawn against each other. If not, three results would have been invalid anyway.

Basically this gives us a mini-draw which looks like this:
Seeded
102d Jr.s (ZWZ)
Jinja City (BNJ)
Ciudad Soluca (SRG)
Unseeded
Bassabook Old Boys (ZWZ)
Chamberley City (SYL)
Torquel Granittknuser (TRL)

Chamberley City (SYL) vs. 102d Jr.s (ZWZ)
Torquel Granittknuser (TRL) vs. Ciudad Soluca (SRG)
Bassabook Old Boys (ZWZ) vs. Jinja City (BNJ)

The corrected results are as follows:
(SYL) Chamberley City 4–3 102d Jr.s (ZWZ) 3–1 1–2 (aet)
(TRL) Torquel Granittknuser 2–4 Ciudad Soluca (SRG) 2–2 0–2
(ZWZ) Bassabook Old Boys 2–4 Jinja City FC (BNJ) 2–3 0–1

This now changes the playoff round. Bassabook Old Boys (unseeded) does not advance now. Jinja City and Ciudad Soluca are now in the draw which they were not previously, and both have coefficients that put them into the seeded pot. This pushes Club ESF (VAL) and Meldrum Fall (SVI) into the unseeded pot. As before, Chamberley City (SYL) advances and is in the unseeded pot so no change is necessary for them.

This means the following results were invalid:
(ELM) Italia Mosfleet 3–2 Club ESF (VAL) 1–1 2–1
(QUE) CSKA Quebec 7–2 Meldrum Fall (SVI) 4–0 3–2
(ZWZ) Bassabook Old Boys 2–3 Marthorpe City FC (FVA) 2–1 0–2
(ZIW) Mansandani Union 4–0 Tannenberg FC (VLD) 3–0 1–0

Following the same principle as before:
Seeded
Jinja City (BNJ)
Ciudad Soluca (SRG)
Marthorpe City (FVA)
Tannenberg FC (VLD)
Unseeded
Italia Mosfleet (ELM)
CSKA Quebec (QUE)
Meldrum Fall (SVI)
Club ESF (VAL)

CSKA Quebec (QUE) vs. Tannenberg FC (VLD)
Club ESF (VAL) vs. Jinja City (BNJ)
Meldrum Fall (SVI) vs. Ciudad Soluca (SRG)
Italia Mosfleet (ELM) vs. Marthorpe City (FVA)

And the corrected results:
(QUE) CSKA Quebec 7–1 Tannenberg FC (VLD) 3–1 4–0
(VAL) Club ESF 2–3 Jinja City FC (BNJ) 1–2 1–1
(SVI) Meldrum Fall 6–8 Ciudad Soluca (SRG) 3–4 3–4
(ELM) Italia Mosfleet 4–3 Marthorpe City FC (FVA) 3–0 1–3

This works out to Ciudad Soluca (SRG) and Jinja City (BNJ), both pot 2, entering the group stage instead of Marthorpe City (FVA) in pot 2 and Mansandani Union (ZIW) in pot 4. This forces CS Saint-Rémy (KSK) into pot 3 instead of pot 2, and Italia Mosfleet (ELM) into pot 4 instead of 3. And so,
  • Ciudad Soluca replaces Marthorpe City in Group H as the pot 2 team, by a coin flip which also decides that...
  • Jinja City replaces CS Saint-Rémy in Group J as the pot 2 team.
  • CS Saint-Rémy replaces Italia Mosfleet as the pot 3 team in Group G.
  • Italia Mosfleet replaces Mansandani Union as the pot 4 team in Group A.
Meaning those groups now look like this:

Group A
Italia Mosfleet (ELM)
AC Izotz Zubia (AUD)
Algolia AC (SRS)
Keppal Cosmos (ZWZ)

Group G
Lokomotive Jarnstad (SVJ)
Kionao Locals (TUR)
Nacional (VLD)
CS Saint-Rémy (KSK)

Group H
Templa United Saints (DAR)
Liria (MYT)
Ciudad Soluca (SRG)
Northern Union (BRE)

Group J
Chamberley City (SYL)
Jinja City FC (BNJ)
Starling (NPH)
KT Itzalovalle (AUD)

As Marthorpe City is a champion club that now misses out on the Challengers Cup group stage, they also move into the Associations Trophy group stage and will presumably replace one of the non-champion Challengers Cup playoff round losers.

I’m really sorry to those who may have “lost out” because of this. If it helps, you can think of the original draw as having randomly thrown you into this butterfly effect mess.

No worries; it's a complicated process, with a lot of moving parts that can go wrong in a lot of different ways. Transparency and punctuality are all anyone can ask for, and that's been met.

I continue to search for a home for manager Liangde HE, former boss of Sheshou in the League of the Two Sapphires. For any nation or club that is affiliated with right wing politics, he would fit in perfectly, and for any nation or club with left-wing politics, he would be an entertaining foil and fun RP opportunity.

Send me a TG or make an offer on the TW!
