*Chad and JR are in the throne of the goblin king*

Chad: Alright JR, this is it. If you can beat the king in a dance competition, we will get the 5th power source. Are you ready?

JR: I was born ready.

*JR and the goblin king proceed to dance, this lasts for 5 hours*

It's The Angry Billy Show!

Billy: Hey folks, welcome to The Angry Billy Show! Where I go over what I liked, and what I HATED! about this week of football, so let's get started.

Liked:

* The Rams managed to hold off Ironite, beating them 17-10.

* The defense continues to shine as they twice stooped scores in the 4th which would of won the game, giving the Rams a chance to score on the last play.

* With E.S beaten, that leaves the Rams and Cyborg Holland as the only two undefeated teams. If we beat them, we are well on our way to solidifying our number one spot.

HATED!:

* This was not a productive day for Shoemaker, only throwing for 109 yards and one TD. Cafeno did not have much luck ether. The Rams have some tough games coming up, so they need to get back to form if they want to keep their undefeated streak going.

* Saintland now have scored more points than the Rams, I don't think this needs explaining.

* With Cyborg Holland's victory, they just seem all the more imposing, I don't know what the Rams can do against a team they know nothing about.

Billy: Well that's all the time I have for today, see you guys next week.

"We're still waiting on the Taeshan/Bongo Johnson result, but it's looking certain that we will be top of the table. That's got to be a great feeling, no?"

Bobby Stevens was on the in-flight phone in their plane. He could really get used to this little touch of luxury. The plane was waiting and ready for them when they reached the airport, and the whole team were served food and drink and had full in-flight entertainment. The current progress of his side through World Bowl 20 wasn't the only thing contributing to his good mood. "It sure is. In terms of record, we're tied up with two other teams, and they aren't teams to be laughed off. These are serious boys we're up against. Still, being on the road and winning games like we are is probably 60% of the battle. The other 40% is at home. To really compete, we need to take this away form back to All Maiden and show some visiting teams what's what."

"Not to take away from your performance today, of course?"

"Oh no. Of course not. The team played a good match today, and the scoreline reflected that. I couldn't ask for more as a head coach than that. However, I'm also paid to look at the longer term picture, and we need to string a few more wins together, especially in our match against Taeshan. That's the truth of it. We aren't out of the woods yet, but we can at least see through the treeline."

Giroux Enquirer wrote:Following a game that saw the Strettan QBs split the snaps, Hodges leading the team in the first half and Simmonds in the second, we have had a chance to finally evaluate the position within the team.

While Hodges continues to show solid form in his passing game, and put up 27 points, his flat style of play is somewhat shadowed by the versatility of Simmonds. A pointless third quarter (not through any real fault of Simmonds), was recovered by a fourth quarter that saw one running TD from the QB, finding the space on the outside to get into his stride. It seems that Simmonds may be more than a back-up to the Strettan team in coming games, establishing himself as a solid weapon in the arsenal of Stevens & Co.. Neither of the players were available for comment following the game, and as of yet, the coaching staff are yet to formalise a position on the issue of starting quarter-back.

Kolna was making full use of the in-flight entertainment system to listen to some radio. Today was verdict day. Whatever the result was, it wouldn't change anything. He was now officially retired. His SFL team coach phoned him up to tell him of his impending release from the side, and his chances of being picked up from the free agency pool while injured were slim. Who would want an injured punter? You have one guy punting, and don't want a valuable player slot taken up by a second, especially in the state that Kolna was in.

Something dragged his attention back to the radio. There was a change in tone of voice that bought Kolna out of his own head and back into the world. "...walked out of court to the waiting press, following verdicts for all three men of not guilty. A spokesman for the defence told the media that 'justice had prevailed today, as three men caught in a media fueled witch hunt have not fallen victim to a kangaroo court'."

Kolna calmy turned the radio off, removed his headphones, placing them calmly onto his lap, and then smashed his fist into the arm of his seat.

Saintland 27, Ironite 3

(SP) The Sanctii hosted Ironite at Royal Stadium today and they were victory once again. This time, they won by a score of 27 to 3. This victory puts the Kingdom of Saintland's National Gridiron Team in solid position going into the toughest stretch on their group stage schedule. "Today, we beat Ironite. Tomorrow, we face the talking horses from the Equestrian States. Although we are currently higher in the standings, we remain the underdogs for this game. While we are on our flight, we're going to be watching film of German Zerabathia's 24 to nothing victory. We hope to learn their weaknesses and defeat them tomorrow. They are likely stronger and faster than we are, so we need to find a way to beat them." - Prince Petrus

This game started as a defensive struggle. Both teams struggled to move the ball early on. The Sanctii tried everything, but they just couldn't convert 3rd downs. Ironite could not move the ball consistently on the Sanctii defense, as their quarterback was confused by the heavy pressure. In the middle of the 1st quarter, Nicolaus Lusius signaled for a fair catch at his own 32 yard line. Prince Petrus took the field again. On first down he called the triple option. After faking a handoff to Alessandro Ancharius, Prince Petrus rolled to the left. An Ironite defender was caught between Prince Petrus and Andreas Tuccius. Prince Petrus faked a pitch and the defender bought it, going after Tuccius. Prince Petrus took advantage and rushed for 16 yards before sliding to end the play. 2 Andreas Tuccius rushes picked up 8 yards, setting up a 3rd and 2. On 3rd and 2, Prince Petrus called play action and found Thomas Favonius for a 5 yard gain, more than enough for the first down. On first down, Prince Petrus threw a screen to Petrus Maximius. Maximius caught the screen and picked up 6 yards. On second down, Tuccius ran for nearly 4 yards, but he was inches short. On 3rd and inches, Prince Petrus handed off to Alessandro Ancharius. Ancharius ran up the middle, netting a yard, which was enough for the first down. On the next first day, Tuccius was stuffed in the backfield for a loss of 3. Second and 13 saw Prince Petrus find Lucius Herius for 9 yards. On 3rd and 4, Prince Petrus attempted a pass, but it was underthrown and the ball fell harmlessly to the Royal Stadium grass. Philippus Francus came out to boot a field goal and he did just that. Saintland led 3 to nothing.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Sanctii coverage broke down. The Ironite kick returner had only Philippus Francus to beat and he could not beat Francus. After the Ironite offense was held without a first down, they kicked a 47 yard field goal through the uprights. Ironite had tied the game at 3 with a minute to go in the first quarter. When the Sanctii got the ball back, Prince Petrus handed off to Andreas Tuccius and brought the first quarter to an end. The game was tied at 3.

Early in the second quarter, Prince Petrus led his team on a drive. He completed pass after pass as the Sanctii marched down the field. Then, he found Lucius Herius at the 3. On first and goal, Prince Petrus called play action. He rolled out and forced a throw to the end zone. It was intercepted. Ironite had kept the game tied at 3. However, they could only get a single first down on offense, as they were forced to punt yet again. After Lusius fair-caught a punt at his own 27 yard line, Prince Petrus and the Sanctii offense took the field again. This time around, they were forced to punt around midfield after Tuccius got stuffed on a 3rd and 1.

With 2 and a half minutes to go, the Sanctii got the ball back inside their own 10 yard line. Prince Petrus tossed a screen to Maximius on the first play. Maximius picked up 7 yards and was tackled in-bounds. On second down, Prince Petrus barely got the play off before the 2 minute warning. He had called a pass, but he saw his receivers were covered and decided to scramble. Prince Petrus picked up a gain of 14 yards before sliding around the 30. The game had reached the 2 minute warning.

Following the 2 minute warning, Prince Petrus came out throwing again. Paulus Favonius caught a sideline pass to move the ball to the 45. Prince Petrus decided to hand the ball off to Maximius on a draw. Maximius took the handoff and made it to midfield. Prince Petrus chose not to use a timeout. On 2nd and 5, the Prince of Saintland passed to Lucius Herius for a gain of 6. Herius was tackled in-bounds for the first Sanctii time out. Around 90 seconds remained on the clock. On first down from the Ironite 44, Prince Petrus was sacked for a loss of 4 yards. That was the second Sanctii time out. Prince Petrus threw a pass downfield to Ioannes Lusius on first and 14. It was caught for a gain of 15 yards and a first down. However, Lusius was tackled in-bounds. Prince Petrus rushed his teammates up to the line and they spiked the ball. 63 seconds remained on the clock. The ball was at the 33 yard line. Prince Petrus did not find an opening receiver on second down following the spike, so he ran it himself. He was tackled at the 24 for 3rd and 1. Prince Petrus rushed his team up to the line for a QB sneak. He got the yard he needed, but the clock was now down to 20 seconds before the spike. On second down, Prince Petrus's pass intended for Matthaeus Epidius in the end zone was batted down. On third down, Prince Petrus needed to get a first down to get another shot at the end zone. He found Lucius Herius open in the middle of the field. Herius was tackled at the 11 yard line, but that was good enough for a first down. There was not enough time for a spike, so Prince Petrus used his last time out. 11 seconds remained on the clock. On first down, Prince Petrus's pass to the end zone was overthrown and ended up sailing way out of the end zone. On second down, Prince Petrus found Matthaeus Epidius, but Epidius got a foot down out of bounds. There were now 3 seconds remaining on the clock in the second quarter. Prince Petrus played it safe, bringing in Philippus Francus for a field goal to take the 6 to 3 lead going into halftime.

At halftime, Cantus Virginum played once again. They have retained their new-found popularity following the recent actions of a group that shall not be named. Fortunately, that group would not make an appearance at today's game and the fans could enjoy their halftime show and the gridiron game in peace.

After halftime, the Kingdom of Saintland got the ball first to start the second half. Nicolaus Lusius returned the ball to the Saintland 38 yard line before being tackled. Prince Petrus came out with a balanced offensive approach, running and throwing about the same amount of the time. Soon, the Sanctii were in the red zone, with the ball at the 16 yard line. From the 16, Prince Petrus called play action. The defense bought the fake as Prince Petrus tossed a high pass to Matthaeus Favonius. Favonius caught it at the front right end of the end zone with a leaping catch and still got both feet in-bounds. After the Francus extra point, the score was now 13 to 3, with the Sanctii in the lead.

Ironite moved the ball well on their next possession, reaching the 40 yard line of the Sanctii before being forced to punt. The punt landed out of bounds at the 2 yard line. Prince Petrus predictably handed off to Tuccius in this situation and the Ironite defense stacked the line to stop him. After 3 rushes, Tuccius had advanced the ball to the 11 yard line, a yard shy of the first down marker. Josephus Polus came out to punt and he booted a long one over the head of the returner. It bounced and was downed by Petrus Roscius at the Ironite 27 yard line. Polus had just flipped field position with an excellent punt.

After Ironite picked up a single first down, Georgius Didius forced a punt by sacking their quarterback on 3rd down. After the punt, the Sanctii had the ball at their own 26 yard line. Prince Petrus passed to Ioannes Oranius for 7 yards. Tuccius ran for 5 and the Sanctii had a first down. The Sanctii continued to drive. The 3rd quarter came to a close after a Prince Petrus pass to Lucius Herius put the home team in field goal range. After 3, the Kingdom of Saintland led 13 to 3. Starting the 4th quarter in field goal range, the Sanctii wanted to add to their lead and put this one out of reach. After a series of running plays with Tuccius moved the ball to the 18 yard line, Prince Petrus called play action. He looked to the end zone and saw Ioannes Lusius open. The pass found its way to Lusius, who caught it easily. Francus added the extra point and the Kingdom of Saintland led 20 to 3 early in the 4th quarter.

After forcing an Ironite punt near midfield, the Sanctii watched the punt bounce into the end zone for a touchback. Prince Petrus came out with a long field. He decided to go with a run-heavy attack here to bring the clock down. Prince Petrus just kept handing the ball to Andreas Tuccius and Alessandro Ancharius and they just kept running straight up the middle of the exhausted Ironite defense. Gradually, the clock disappeared and by the time the Sanctii reached the 8 yard line for first and goal, there were just 5 minutes to go in the game. Prince Petrus called play action. This time, it was a designed run. He scrambled to the right side and ran straight through a hole. Ironite would not catch him as he scored a touchdown. Francus added the extra point and the Sanctii led 27 to 3.

After forcing an Ironite punt, the Sanctii came out running. Ironite could not stop the running game for the Kingdom of Saintland. The Sanctii ran out the clock on the legs of Andreas Tuccius. As the clock hit zero, the Sanctii had the ball around midfield following a series of kneel-down plays. The final score was the Kingdom of Saintland 27, Ironite 3. Today, Prince Petrus had completed 21 out of 31 passes, throwing for 213 yards and rushing for 52 yards. He had 2 touchdown passes, a touchdown run and an INT. Andreas Tuccius had rushed 25 times for 112 yards. Most importantly, the Sanctii had improved to 4-1 in the World Bowl.

Meanwhile, Cyborg Holland had defeated Gzbfernigambia 24 to 7 to remain undefeated. German Zerabithea shut out the Equestrian States 24 to 0, handing the talking horses their second defeat of the World Bowl. Now, German Zerabithea has a slight lead over Cyborg Holland because their point differential was 15 points better. Meanwhile, the Sanctii are in sole possession of 3rd place with a 4-1 record. The Equestrian States are 4th at 3-2. The other 4 teams no longer have a realistic shot of advancing, if they ever did at all. Tomorrow, Cyborg Holland hosts German Zerabithea in a battle for first place in Group 1. Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Saintland will travel to the Equestrian States for a critical game. Tomorrow's game will be broadcasted live on Royal One. During the game, Royal One will keep you updated regarding the events in Cyborg Holland. Tomorrow will be an important test for the Kingdom of Saintland as a more prepared Sanctii team will face a tough team that is in the midst of a losing streak. If the Sanctii can pull this one off, it will seriously jeopardize the chances that the Equestrian States will qualify and could put the Sanctii in perfect position if either Cyborg Holland or German Zerabithea fades down the stretch.

Royal One - Postgame Interview

Abraham Volusenus is broadcasting the Postgame show from the Royal One studios in St. Petrus.

Abraham Volusenus - Cyborg Holland and German Zerabithea win again. The Equestrian States lose to German Zerabithea. Now, the Sanctii are in position to make a run in the World Bowl. Today, I have a special guest in the studio. He is the heir to the Throne of Saintland of he is the quarterback of the National Gridiron Team. He is Prince Petrus.

Prince Petrus enters and sits down down to Abraham.

Abraham Volusenus - Thank you for joining us today.

Prince Petrus - I'm happy to appear on Royal One. Just call me Petrus.

Abraham Volusenus - Petrus, lately you have been a very turnover-prone quarterback. What are you doing to cut down on turnovers?

Prince Petrus - I trust my defense. I'd rather turn the ball over 2 or 3 times a game and make a few big plays than play it safe and never turn the ball over.

Abraham Volusenus - Surely, Georgius Didius and the other defensive players have to be upset about your reckless style of play?

Prince Petrus - They really aren't. Our offense and our defense have the same philosophy. We attack on every play and we never relent. We do everything we can to confuse our opposition. We want to blow out every team we face.

Abraham Volusenus - Understood. Some say that the team's philosophy is an extension of the personalities of its playcallers. Do you think that is correct?

Prince Petrus - Absolutely. Like Georgius, I want to dominate out there. Yes, sometimes I may struggle and sometimes I'll dig a hole for the defense. Yes, Georgius's unit can give up big plays sometimes. However, we don't care about that. Its worth the risk because we're good enough to run this scheme.

Abraham Volusenus - You seem a little overly proud, Petrus.

Prince Petrus - I want my opponents to think I'm overconfident. That only helps me dominate on the field of battle.

Abraham Volusenus - Changing gears now, in the past you have been critical of Cantus Virginum. Has your opinion of their music changed recently?

Prince Petrus - As you know, I think this Kingdom is overly conservative. I know I'm going to get in trouble for saying that, but I don't care. Still, I detest Feministvs Sanctvsterra. They are a female supremacist hate group that would turn all men into our Kingdom into slaves of our women and our women into grotesque creatures that no longer retained that feminine beauty that we all love. When I am King, you can rest assured that Feministvs Sanctvsterra will never be a legal organization in this Kingdom and I would do everything in my power to hunt them down.

Abraham Volusenus - You didn't answer my question, Petrus.

Prince Petrus - I respect Cantus Virginum. Those ladies have worked very hard to get where they are. I want to apologize for them for the things I said about them in the past. Keep on singing ladies and keep irritating those hateful fanatics.

Abraham Volusenus - I guess Cantus Virginum really has become more widely respected lately. Petrus, earlier you said that you think our Kingdom is overly conservative. Could you please elaborate on that?

Prince Petrus - I think we need to modernize our Kingdom, just as King Josephus X modernized us nearly 2 centuries ago.

Abraham Volusenus - What exactly do you propose to modernize?

Prince Petrus - I don't want to go into the specific changes I would make, but if Feministvs Sanctvsterra and other similar organizations continue to operate, then modernization of Saintland will be impossible. If I modernized, I would never allow anybody to get the impression that I was giving in to pressure from terrorist organizations. The only thing we can do while we are under attack from the likes of Feministvs Sanctvsterra is embrace the "oppression" they complain about. There can be no responsible reform when extremist elements are running around making crazed demands and trying to incite chaos. In such a situation, responsible reform appears to be partial surrender.

Abraham Volusenus - Well said. Hopefully whoever is funding Feministvs Sanctvsterra hears your words and pulls the plug.

Prince Petrus - That is what I am hoping for.

Abraham Volusenus - Today, you defeated Ironite 27 to 3 at Royal Stadium. That is your 4th win in 5 games at the World Bowl. Tomorrow, you play the Equestrian States on the road. What is your strategy for this game?

Prince Petrus - I'm not sure of that yet. We're going to watch the film of their games against German Zerabithea and Cyborg Holland on the flight and we'll learn from those teams how to beat the talking horses.

Abraham Volusenus - I think they might be ponies.

Prince Petrus - Pony, horse, same difference.

Abraham Volusenus - Tomorrow's game will be on Royal One. However, the Cup of Harmony starts in 2 days. Today was the draw.

Prince Petrus - Who did Andreas draw in that?

Abraham Volusenus - Turori, Hutt River and Mangolana.

Prince Petrus - Who?

Abraham Volusenus - So, you're convinced that the National Soccer Team has a good shot of advancing?

Prince Petrus - Of course they do. Andreas is the best soccer player I've ever seen. Just ask Krytenia, Kinitaria or Audioslavia how good he is.

Abraham Volusenus - You may have also heard that your brother Josephus and his teammates defeated Kriegiersien today at the World Championship in Field Hockey by a score of 4 goals to 1.

Prince Petrus - I still don't know what field hockey is or why my father entered the Ice Hockey team in that.

Abraham Volusenus - Its some kind of Olympic sport that resembles a cross between ice hockey and soccer.

Prince Petrus - I'm glad the team picked it up quickly.

Abraham Volusenus - They're now in the semi-finals against Ko-oren.

Prince Petrus - I think I remember that name from somewhere, but I don't know where for some reason.

Abraham Volusenus - You don't want to remember that.

Prince Petrus - Probably not.

Abraham Volusenus - This year, the Triple Crown is accepting foreign entrants. Do you think a Sanctii horse can win at least one of the 3 Triple Crown races?

Prince Petrus - Possibly.

Abraham Volusenus - Every horse is going to have to qualify, so that means several horses from our Kingdom will be competing abroad at specially designated prep races.

Prince Petrus - That sounds interesting. I will probably watch that when we get done with the World Bowl.

Abraham Volusenus - What are your goals in the World Bowl?

Prince Petrus - Right now, we want to qualify for the final 16. When we do that, we want to win the entire competition.

Abraham Volusenus - That is a tall order. German Zerabithea crushed you on the opening day.

Prince Petrus - I think I have a strategy to beat them. We'll find out for sure in a few days.

Abraham Volusenus - We're out of time. I thank you for speaking with us.

Prince Petrus - I'm always happy to talk to Royal One.

Abraham Volusenus - I wish you the best of luck in the World Bowl. May God be on your side.

Prince Petrus left the studio.

Abraham Volusenus - I am Abraham Volusenus and I thank you for watching the Royal One World Bowl Postgame Show. The Nightly News is next.

Subramani continues its dream run

Period 1Period 2Period 3Period 4OTTotal
Sicoutimont0307-10
Subramani14337-27

Subramani continued its dream run winning their 4th match out of 5 matches played by them in their debut World Bowl. Subramani started this 5th match against Sicoutimont in a dominant way by scoring two touchdowns in the first period. Though the opponents tried hard in their subsequent periods, they were never able to catch up with the lead taken by Subramani and lost the match by 17 points at the end. In the next match, they will take on the 85th ranked Gaveo, who have so far won only 2 out of 5 matches. Going by the current form, Subramani should be the favorites to register a win in this match.

For the first time in a while, Qazox has pitched a shutout at the World Bowl, a 30-0 blasting of Catholican Catholica. After the strange game on the moon last week, the Sharks' offense returned to normal with Jim Zebow throwing for 296 yards and 2 TDs, while Ian West added 136 yards and a TD run himself to lead the way.

Despite playing on a pile of crushed and discarded beer cans, the Sharks crushed Kriegiersien like a beer can 34-9 to improve to 5-0. Jim Zebow slipped on a bottle of Land Shark (irony) on the 1st play of the game, leading to a fumble Recovery TD by Robert Rot giving the hosts a 6-0 lead. But then the Sharks just cruised from there, scoring the next 31 points before a chipshot FG that apparently hit off a passing seagull made it 31-9. Oliver Muadh made a 30 yd FG just before the end of the game, but slipped on (coincidentally?) the same bottle Zebow did on the 1st play. Maudh was not injured. Up next, Qazox continues it's mini road-trip at 2-3 Crysuko.

*Chad and JR are seen near a river, with the Marshmallow King on the other side*

JR: Come-on Chad! You have to get past this river so you can get the 7th power source from the Marshmallow King!

Chad: Don't know if I can do it bro!

Marshmallow King: Whaa ha ha, then you shall never advance! Evil shall win, good will be lame!

Chad: NEVAR!!1

*Chad steps over the puddle that was the river*

It's The Angry Billy Show!

Billy: Hey there folks, welcome to The Angry Billy Show! Where I tell you what I liked, and what I HATED about this week of football. So let's get started.

Liked:

*With a win over E.S 24-0, the Rams have reestablished themselves as the preemptive winners of group one. This was one of the games everyone said would be important to watch, and while not as exciting as it was suppose to be, did the job of making their play off chances harder as they are now 4th in the group.

*The defense dominated the whole game, scoring 4 sacks, and 3 INTs. This was by far, their best game.

* Group one is the only group left with two undefeated teams, only continuing to prove why group one is the best group. There can only be one however, making the next game a battle for first place.

HATED!:

*The running continues to be lackluster, the Rams are going to need a good running game if they want to keep their perfect season goal alive.

* At this point, 3 other teams have scored more points than the Rams, this is naturally disappointing, but not the end of the world, I think the Rams need to worry more about winning than scoring a bunch of points. I f anything, a lot of teams can say they scored a lot of point, but only a few can claim perfecting twice in a row.

* Robert was hit late in the 3rd and it looked like he might of had to sit for the rest of the game, but was able to be cleared after a few plays. Still, last thin we need is a hurt star QB.

Billy: In any case, the Rams Holland game should be a good one, and you can catch it here on ZSN. Till next time.

Califan offense grinds to a halt, prompting change

Postby Free South Califas » Fri Apr 19, 2013 12:51 pm

Head coach Siobhan Mendocino was struggling for answers as the Federal Team had suddenly stopped scoring, a return to the bad old days of their worst World Bowl performances. His innovative 'pistol grip' spread option and 'I-Flex' rushing series, so instrumental in Sunset Cliffs reclaiming the FGL title, were suddenly failing to surprise Group 6, and progress was slowing to a crawl in the red zone. Tight defensive losses led to a general slippage, and now the team was looking resolutely awful even at only 2-3. The season in dire shape, something had to be done, so Siobhan did something no gridiron coach had ever done to the Federal Team: he split up the offensive and defensive lineup.

"We have a lot of great sporting traditions in this country, and dual-position play is an admirable one for sure", Siobhan told the South San Diego Agitator in an interview shortly after releasing the new lineup. "Obviously, we use it at Sunset Cliffs and have a lot of respect for these players being so versatile, but at a certain point in the international game it becomes unrealistic to put that kind of workload on eleven people who do that year in and year out in the FGL and IGCL. We only left the wide receivers in dual roles, because we have such great parity in that position and we need to keep a stable hand in the secondary." Sunset Cliffs is also the most highly-ranked Califan team in the IGCL, according to the International Solidarity Magazine "ISM" ratings. Siobhan declared in the interview that he intends to return and coach the club to new heights in the international game after the World Bowl.

Coach Mendocino released the following revised lineups, effective immediately, during debate at the Gridiron Assembly. The move effectively closed the federal inquiry into Mendocino's performance, or at least bought him some time: shortly after a straw poll found broad satisfaction with Siobhan's changes, a motion to end the meeting without resolution was sustained. The action was essentially equivalent to a vote of confidence, since in the Califan social order, public officials are under constant threat of removal while any meeting is underway. Little official paperwork was produced, but nobody had to tell the Coach what was meant. With only four returning starters on defense, the move was also risky, leaving el Diezcondado open to a meltdown in the middle of the defensive area. Lxs Federales are certainly hoping that fresh legs will make the difference.

Well, this is kinda embarrassing.

In 5 games, TSE has managed only 1 win, and the average score is 3-15. The offense has only managed 2 touchdowns. QB Tomas got 1 TD against Karditan with a QB scramble that made it into the endzone from 3 yards out. The other was the dramatic punt return against Rodard in the final seconds of the game by David. Kicker Claus has 1 FG, also in the Rodard. The defense has given up 77 points, which sounds like it might be the worst, but is actually better than 2 teams in Group 7, and 30 other teams in the tournament. So not all is bleak in the Sovan field. They face Firiminaz next, a team who hasn't showed much enthusiasm in this tournament, and has a 0-5 record. Expect something out of the Hurricanes in the near future.

NAMIBE CHRONICLE

WEST ANGOLA LEADS WORLD BOWL GROUP, ANYONE NOTICE?

Currently, stunningly, with a 5-1 record following their 6-0 victory over Rodard last night, West Angola holds onto first place in Group Seven of the Twentieth World Bowl. The move is a surprise to the small amount of gridiron football fans in West Angola, and an item of little note to the rest of the country. The success of the gridiron team is especially unnoticed given the success of the association team, which last week qualified for the World Cup for the first time in team history. West Angola next takes on Karditan, a World Bowl power and likely group winner, in an away match that they certainly will lose. If the gridiron team is going to get noticed in West Angola, winning this match would be a good start. In closing, you may be wondering about the shortness of this column; well, that's because I'm an underpaid intern who gets paid a flat rate to write about these niche sports and doesn't get a bonus for word count.

Strettan Sports Journal wrote:Stretta trounced Levivania in the away game last night, beating them 43-3, with a game that saw 6 TDs and one 2-pt conversion, while Levivania were all but shut-out by the defense, who limited the home team to a single field game in the first.

QB performances were on paper an even split between Hodges and Simmonds, who are hot news at the moment. As the two battle for the top spot in the national team, they will know that each performance counts, and they both made solid statements against Levivania. For Simmonds, a marked improvement in his throwing game, especially outside of the pocket on the run, is a bonus to take away. Hodges, on the other hand, rushed for 15-yds up the middle, before sliding to a halt at the Levivania 30.

With both QBs seeming to listen to the criticisim of their play, it's likely that we will continue to see this battle within the team intensify.

Arriving back in Giroux, the team disembarked from their plane and stepped through to the arrivals gate. It was here that they went their separate ways. A few of the players lived in Giroux, and headed home. The rest were taken by coach to their hotel to save travelling back for the home game against Taeshan. Bobby Stevens was in the number on the coach. The town he made his home in, Landstown, was a good 3-hour road journey from the capital, and wasn't something he particuarly wanted to face.

Come 8pm, his coaching staff joined him in his room. "So, thoughts on Taeshan?" There was silence. "Look. I know we're probably going to lose this one, but if we can not get smashed out of the water, I'd appreciate it." Nobody had any thoughts. "What do we know?"

Julian Timmen, the offensive co-ordinator, broke the uneasy silence and averted gazes. "We know their record. They beat Levivania by about the same score we did." Stevens nodded and gestured for Timmen to continue. Timmen cleared his throat. "Fenbar beat them the week after we beat Fenbar."

"So by results, it would seem we are pretty similar? They beat Darmen though, giving Darmen their only loss so far. So perhaps we can deduce they get complacent with the lower-ranked and new teams?" Timmen shrugged. "Right. I'll think on it. I want the top side out tomorrow. We need to make an impact, even if that's just keeping a good point difference. Timmen, can you stick around?" The rest of the staff left. "So, quarter-back?"

Kolna sat in his house. He had the Giroux Enquirer news website on his computer screen, focused on the articles after the trial. How were they not guilty? He looked for the transcripts of the trial. Surely somebody reported on it? There must be some information available on why the jury reached that decision.

That's when he found it. Someone had posted up some rather personal information on two of the men. Hmm. Kolna took note of them, looking up the men on social networking sites. He had to know who these men were, what they did and didn't do. Grabbing his coat, he pulled his car out of the garage. It hadn't seen a road in the best part of 6 months. It took a couple of attempts to get started. He made his way downtown.

Pulling into a side street, he crawled to a stop and flicked his lights and engine off. He waited.

The Equestrian States defeat Saintland 24 to 6

(SP) The Kingdom of Saintland's National Gridiron Team visited the Equestrian States today to play a team of talking horses in a game of gridiron. Everybody in Saintland knows that the main equestrian sport is horse racing, but these gridiron-playing horses proved to be tough opposition even without a jockey to guide them. In the Equestrian States, we discovered that their horses prefer to be called ponies and they do look like baby horses, but these ponies picked up a critical World Bowl victory today at their Royal Coliseum. "We did our best to prepare for this team, but we were over-matched out there. They play great defense and they have a very cautious approach on offense. I can't believe the skill of their kickers. How did they kick 8 field goals, all from beyond 50 yards, in a single game?"

The Sanctii received the opening kickoff to start the game. Prince Petrus decided to go with Andreas Tuccius up the middle. That did not work. The "Fire Ponies," as they call their gridiron team, stuffed the run 3 straight times. It was already clear that the run up the middle was not going to work. Josephus Polus punted the ball away to the Equestrian States and a unicorn named Jet Set took a fair catch. Lightning Bolt ran for 17 yards on the first play from scrimmage. After the Sanctii forced an incomplete pass on a 3rd and 2 around the Saintland 40, Blackstone took the field to attempt a field goal. The pony's kick was on target, as he nailed the 55+ yarder to put the "Fire Ponies" up by 3.

Prince Petrus came out on the next drive intent on running the option. On first down, he rolled to the side along with Petrus Maximius. As Thunderroar attempted to tackle Prince Petrus, he pitched the ball and Petrus Maximius had a running lane to pick up a gain of 12 before he was knocked out by Purity. The Sanctii continued to have success with the option for a few plays until they got into field goal range. From the 27 yard line, Ironclaw broke into the Sanctii backfield and got a hand on the pitch. Al fell on the ball and the Sanctii had turned the ball over.

The Sanctii would force a Lumos punt. On the next drive, Prince Petrus came out throwing. That didn't work either. The Sanctii line broke down repeatedly and the pass attempts resulted in sacks or incompletions. It was becoming increasingly clear that our Kingdom's National Team would not be able to move the ball against their opposition today. By the end of the first quarter, the Equestrian States had added 2 more long field goals for a 9 to nothing lead, one of them from 69 yards.

This was the story of the game most of the way as Blackstone just kept booting field goals. By the time 3 minutes were left in the 4th quarter, Blackstone had booted 8 field goals, all of them from over 50 yards. The Sanctii defense had played a strong game, but that wasn't enough against the "Fire Ponies" and their dominant field goal kicker.

With 3 minutes to go, Prince Petrus sent Ioannes Lusius deep on one side and Thomas Lusius deep on the other. He took the snap. With multiple "Fire Ponies" running around in the Sanctii backfield, Prince Petrus ran around to buy his receivers enough time. Then, he found some time to get a pass off and threw the ball as far as he could throw it. The defense had been thrown off-guard and Ioannes Lusius caught it in the end zone for a 72 yard touchdown. Prince Petrus decided to go for 2. He called the option for the first time since the 2nd quarter, expecting to catch the "Fire Ponies" off-guard again. However, they were ready for it. A bunch of talking horses charged at Prince Petrus and Petrus Maximius, tackling both of them. The Sanctii would not convert the 2-point attempt. Philippus Francus came on for an onside kick. The hopes of the Kingdom of Saintland were finally extinguished when Proud Storm fell on the ball. Still, the late touchdown had been enough to keep the Equestrian States behind the Kingdom of Saintland on point differential.

Elsewhere in Group 1, German Zerabithea defeated Cyborg Holland 31 to 17 in a battle of the remaining unbeaten teams in the Group. German Zerabithea remain undefeated at 6-0 and they are now the unquestioned leaders of Group 1. Cyborg Holland is 5-1, which puts them in second place. The Kingdom of Saintland and the Equestrian States are both 4-2. However, the Kingdom of Saintland leads on point differential +60 to +56. Tomorrow, the Kingdom of Saintland hosts Cyborg Holland in a battle that could decide second place at the halfway point. A Sanctii win of 10 points or more will put them ahead of the Cyborgs at the end of the first half. Euskirribakondara will host the Equestrian States tomorrow. German Zerabithea is likely heading to 7-0 as they host winless Gzbfernigambia. The game between the Kingdom of Saintland and Cyborg Holland will be broadcast live on Royal One, but Sanctii gridiron games will move to Royal Two once the Cup of Harmony gets underway. The entire Kingdom of Saintland will be hoping for a win of 10 or more points and a close Equestrian States victory over the hapless Euskirribakondarans. The Kingdom of Saintland normally performs best in the second half of competitions and they have a very real chance of being second in Group 1 halfway through the group stage of the World Bowl. They just need to take advantage of that opportunity.

JR: Yeah bro, I'm starting to think these guys are running out of ideas.

Chad: Ow!

Billy: Hey there folks, welcome to The Angry Billy Show! Where I go over what I liked, and what I HATED! about this week of football. So let's not waste any time here, let's get started.

Liked:

* The Rams got the win they needed beating Cyborg Holland 31-17. With this, the Rams have established themselves as the leaders of group one and are one game closer to qualifying.

* While they lack the most points scored overall, they are still the highist scoring team of group one (which is saying something considering some o the scores in this group) and also the largest point difference. That will be the most important going into the end game, as even if the Rams do lose, they should still have the points to claim first place.

* A.S is not first in their group, it's a nice change of pace. ;)

HATED!:

* E.S despite their win against Saintland is still 4th in the group. ZSN had predicted that they would go second in the group, so seeing their prediction struggle like this is a bit disappointing.

* Despite our win, the Rams were actually down 17-0 right before the half, that is something the Rams can't afford to have, that will kill them in the playoffs.

* People say I'm not angry enough....

Billy: Not angry enough for ya huh?! Well fine! raba rabaa!

*jumps at the camera.*

Lessons from MD 1-6

1. We're not as bad as we expected.
It has to be said: we don't suck! That's the first lesson, and one the team may be particularly proud of. With a second-to-last place on the overall ranking, the expectations were not too brilliant for the Greenblues. But one can see what a strong league and more experienced players can do: fourth place, one win behind the first placed team! Granted there are some teams better than us, but we're not as low as we, the team and the rest of the world could have expected. We might not be able to beat Yesopalitha and Thrilledge, and that might stay this way for a few more World Bowls, but we've got nothing to be ashamed of... or do we:

2. Learn 2 defend.
Wow. That PA statistic. What... Why, where and how. If a team wants to go far, we've learned from the national football team that is about to play their first ever World Cup match, you need a solid defense. This team has got it all different. The 4-2 record makes some teams jealous, but our PD statistic does not. While our PF is not bad (117), our PA is absolutely awful. 122 points conceded is bad in everyone's book. 34 conceded in a 34-7 loss against Thrilledge and 46 conceded in the Yesopalitha match is terrible, but nothing to wonder about. Scoring 46 against United Warrisons is not bad at all. But still conceding 16 in a game like this is unforgivable. In our relatively high scoring group, big wins and losses exist. But they do not have to be like this...

3. We have only one more matchday to learn from our mistakes before we're halfway.
That's right: only one more game to go. Konariona is the last opponent, and thankfully it should not be one of the toughest. Yesopalitha play the Babbage Islands and Thrilledge will play Chunnan, which makes it anywhere between highly unlikely and impossible to finish first or second. Franklin Delano Bluth, the other team on 4-2, plays the United Warrisons, the worst game of the group. Ko-oren will very likely end in fourth place, but that can only be called a victory! After that, it's the same thing all over again, and with just one win behind the top two teams, who knows what can happen? (But we can predict it: third or fourth place. We're not even putting money on it, the payout will be horrible at least).

OOC: I've decided to do a series of RP that is slightly different from conventional match reports that I normally do in WBs and WCoHs. For this edition of World Bowl, I have decided to do a series of RP about the love story of Luc Arvineau, the current QB of Quebecois Team.
This will still have many things about football, but will also have many things about campus life and love added in.
This is the first part of 4-6 part story and enjoy!

7:00. 7th of November, 2004(12 years ago)
Cafeteria, Bertrand College, Universite St.Croix

It was extremely cold outside. The villainy of winter, which arrived earlier than usual, has dropped the temperature down. Students and staff on the outside were left under the exposure of strong wind and snow, as they moved from a building to the other.

Meanwhile, students inside Bertrand College were safe from that.
Bertrand College, a newly built residential college, was equipped with the latest of heating systems that kept them warm within its confines. Luc Arvineau, then a sophomore, was one of those fortunate students. He was quiet, responsible and hard-working person under its famous football program, with an athletic scholarship.

Unlike most members of the football team, who either stayed at the Fraternities or St.Henri's College, he chose Bertrand because he wanted some change. Being a farm boy from Annesley,Acadie; he wanted to meet different people from other parts of the nation. Whether they are from LGBTQ community, studies Swahili or plays Glockenspiel.

At this moment, he's eating together in a table with Marc Trestman. Marc, another Sophomore(of Moncton, Acadie), was studying Management in the Soo Man Shin building for business studies. They met each other back on the very first day of school, when they accidentally bumped into each other at the Train Station. The coincidence turned out to be both of them, with one complementing the other. Right now, they are enjoying their dinner, which was a grilled salmon, added with some rice, vegetables and a sauce.

They were talking for while. The topic went on from the latest fashion trend in the nation's capital, Marc's visit to India last summer and now, it was about Luc's time in the Bleu et Blanc football team.

"So, how did your practice go?" Marc asked, interested in hearing about his friend's journey in football.
"It has been great so far. I might be starting for tomorrow's match against Bishop's." Luc replied, grinning all over. It's a well-known fact that barely any sophomore Quarterbacks start in QIS Football, seniors being preferred instead. However, with 1st Quarterback Tristan Gregnon-Migneault being injured for rest of the match and the lack of high-calibre QBs, he managed to find himself with a starting position.
"I see. It seems like you're going to be great in St.Croix," he agreed, as he went back and asked. "Luc. Are you planning to play football in QFL?"
"Well, not sure. I still feel like I'm not good enough to make it in." he commented with humbleness and pessimism. He knew that he was good, but he doubted whether he could last at all, to battle against others in what was very competitive league in QFL.

Suddenly, Luc turned around. Not much was happening, with rest of them just chatting while eating. Then, he saw someone who really catched his eyes.
"Marc," Luc turned around and asked. "Who's this lady?"
"Oh, she's Katie Dutton." replied Marc. A socialite, he knew everyone from Bertrand. Whether that was a transferred student from Sherbrooke, a Frosh or 4th year, he knew them all by name and with some additional information. "She's the daughter and last descendant of both Elzepeths and Duttons, rich families from the Golden Square Mile(OOC: The richest neighbourhood in the nation)."
"Hm...Intéressant. I haven't heard of her at all." Luc replied, with his eyes still fixed into her.
"How intéressant of you." Marc shot back with a sarcasm, then continued. "I think it might be because she's studying drama, while i study business management and you, the Québécois history and Secondary Education."
"Um..." he thought, then asked a foolish question. "If you know so much about her, I'll ask you a question. "Then, why is she here? Isn't St.Croix a Franco-Korean Institution?"
"No." Marc shook his head, then quickly replied back with rationality. "The Post-Secondary Act 1857 doesn't allow that. As long as a student can match one's educational credential, they won't care. The reason why it's mostly a Franco-Korean institution is because of its usage of Korean and French as the language of instruction, the university's beginning as Sungkyungwan, l'établissement d'enseignement le plus réputé, its location and many more."
"Ok then." Luc went back on looking at her again. This time, their eyes met and she gave a nice, warm smile.
She's beautiful. He thought.
Her green eyes were extremely calm, lively and that of tranquility. Her honeycomb hair, which was very soft, flowing and light, was nice enough to make Luc think of caressing and feeling her hair. Her smooth face, complemented by the soft, charming smile that she created when their eyes met, were just mind-blowing. Her body figure was quite slim and slightly taller than norm. At that very moment, the immediate rays of her beauty hit him and broke all the barriers to his heart that ever denied anyone(other than his parents and friends) to see through.

Luc wanted to go further and reach her, but stopped instantly. He turned around, only to realise that Marc, while he was busy falling into the grace of her beauty, ate his meal too. He gave
"Luc. That's why you have to be in Carpe Diem mode and take advantage of the situation and what you already have." Marc smiled at him in interesting way, then told him. "If that's so, maybe you should ask her on a date. If she's so beautiful that you're getting hypnosis from her beauty and can't get her off your mind, why don't you try to make her yours?"

Luc thought for 5 seconds, then agreed.
"Ok." he said, as he slowly walked towards her, who was about to exit the cafeteria and leave for her room. His heart was beating fast. It didn't beat as much or fast before. Not even when he was playing in the National Championship Final for his high school 2 years earlier. He started to get really nervous, as he was getting closer and closer.....

If you want to know more about what happened, the next part will be there for you tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Blackstone Single-Hoofedly Crushes Saintland

After two painful losses for the Fire Ponies, there was little for the Equestrians to look forward to heading into their absolutely critical game with Saintland. The two losses to still-undefeated German Zerabithea and then-undefeated Cyborg Holland had the Equestrian States wallowing in fourth place, a full two games out of a playoff spot. Meanwhile, the Sanctii were flying high with their powerful offense. Expectations, fan support, and team morale were all at their lowest point in well over a year heading into the Equestrian States-Saintland game, one that many experts anticipated would be a must-win for the Fire Ponies to have a realistic chance at advancing from an absurdly competitive Group 1.

Prior to the game, rumors swirled about the Sanctii and their fans' belief that the Equestrian States was populated by "talking horses". Now, trying to avoid descending into a social debate in this column, this is a relatively common foreign misconception about the sapient equines that make up the vast majority of the Equestrian States' population. Although common, it still incites anger (or, at the very least, irritation) among the ponies who feel that the term "talking horses" is demeaning and speciesist. When it came out that these rumors were, in fact, accurate on all accounts, it seemed to spark interest in the general populace, which was now determined to see the "arrogant and ignorant foals" from Saintland get their flanks royally beaten by the Fire Ponies. Only adding to the fire of the locals' dislike of the new visitors was the assertion by the Saintland Press that it was impressive that the "gridiron-playing horses" could play without a jockey.

And so at game time the Royal Coliseum was (for the first time in a while) sold out and filled to capacity largely by local fans. The game itself started well, particularly for the Equestrian defense which would be solidly in control of their lower-ranked opponent. Attempting to run the ball, the Sanctii found themselves unable to gain any traction against the firm Fire Ponies' defense which forced the Sanctii to punt the ball away in frustration. The defensive stop was to be the first of many, and was followed by a short Equestrian drive that put place-kicker Blackstone in range for a surprisingly-easy 56 yard field goal.

The Sanctii managed some success in their next drive with some tricky play-calling, but the Fire Ponies' defense was not to be trifled with. After Ironclaw forced a fumble, the Equestrians stormed to midfield, but opted to punt instead of sending Blackstone out for a 76 yard field goal attempt. The next area the Sanctii would decide to fail at was at passing, where they were hammered repeatedly by an efficient Equestrian pass-rush. Coming back on the field, the Fire Ponies pushed their way into field goal range and turned Blackstone loose for a 63 yarder that went cleanly through the uprights.

Throughout the first three quarters, a pattern was clearly established by the two teams. The Equestrian offense fielded time-wasting plays that made a Sanctii comeback increasingly difficult and Blackstone would take kicks from distances that most humans would view as entirely insane. By the fourth quarter, there was little hope for the visitors and Equestrian Head Coach Crafty Crate began sending out his bench to finish off the Sanctii. A late touchdown was the only scoring the lower-ranked Sanctii could patch together, failing again when they attempted to pull two meaningless points after the touchdown. The defensive collapse the visitors had hoped for never came, and the Equestrians trotted gaily to an easy 24-6 victory.

Although the Equestrian States still is in fourth (by virtue of point differential, the stupidest tiebreaker ever invented by sapient beings capable of semi-rational thought*), the Fire Ponies are now poised to spring into the playoffs with a hopefully stronger second half performance that will include a rematch of the embarrassing defeat against German Zerabithea here in Canterlot. The Equestrians will next face the struggling team from Euskiinsertabsurdlylongnamehere. An easy win is predicted.

Subramani defeated Gaveo to retain their third position in the group. Once again Subramani defenders came strong, not allowing Gaveo to score any touchdowns and only conceding 2 field goals. Subramani attackers began strongly with a touchdown in the first period, and managed to score a field goal in all other three periods, which was enough to see them win. In the next match, Subramani takes on group leaders Estope, who have not lost any match so far in this world bowl. It is definetly going to be a very difficult match for Subramani.

After their 24-6 loss to the Equestrian States, the Sanctii took a flight back home to face Cyborg Holland at Royal Stadium. During their flight, they discussed what had gone wrong.

Thomas Lusius - Those talking horses definitely seemed motivated today.

Prince Petrus - I think we upset them.

Thomas Lusius - I still think its cute that they play gridiron.

Andreas Tuccius - Those ponies sure can kick field goals.

Prince Petrus - I've never seen a kicker that could make field goals from that distance and Philippus is one of the best kickers in the world.

Philippus Francus - We're a soccer country and our league is filled with strong-legged kickers that rarely miss. I definitely can't kick a 69-yard field goal.

Thomas Lusius - How are we going to stop that next time?

Andreas Tuccius - I have an idea.

Prince Petrus - I think we need to do something, Thomas and Andreas.

Andreas Tuccius - Next time around, let's purposely damage the field surface. Make it impossible to kick in Royal Stadium between the 30 yard lines.

Georgius Didius - How would we do that?

Andreas Tuccius - Just flood the field between the 30s.

Prince Petrus - Actually, I think my father could help us with that. One of the Royal Army training drills involves "swampifying" land.

Thomas Lusius - Why does the Royal Army do those training drills anyway? We've never been in a war and nobody's stupid enough to try to invade us.

Prince Petrus - The Royal Army, like the rest of the military, needs to be prepared if we ever face invasion. Personally, I wouldn't mind trying to colonize a few Godless nations that don't believe in having a military some day.

Andreas Tuccius - Petrus, with all due respect, I think that would be reckless. A nation of 500 thousand or so isn't going to be able to colonize a much-larger nation.

Prince Petrus - We just need to strengthen our espionage and we can probably acquire superior technology. Then, we can have an Empire.

Georgius Didius - Don't do that, Petrus. If we tried to become an Empire, the WA would unite against us.

Thomas Lusius - I was reading this interesting fiction book that I found. It was about another world where some charismatic man named Amos Hister won an election in a country called Germland. He went around trying to conquer the world, but the capitalizt and communist nations ganged up against him and defeated him.

Prince Petrus - That sounds preposterous. Capitalizts and Communists never agree about anything. There's no way they'd ever form an alliance against a common foe.

Thomas Lusius - I agree. It does sound preposterous, but picking a fight with the forces of Satanas is unwise. Remember that he offered Iesus all the Kingdoms of the world and Iesus turned him down after going through great temptation. If Satanas didn't control most of the nations of the World, he could not have offered them to Iesus.

Prince Petrus - I think you may be right, but it would be nice if we were a more powerful nation.

Andreas Tuccius - I'd love to see foreigners embrace God's Truth, but we cannot spread it by the sword. As Iesus said, all that take up the sword will perish by the sword.

Prince Petrus - I guess so.

Ioannes Lusius - Thomas, you really need to focus on gridiron instead of reading fiction books.

Thomas Lusius - I know. I just don't really love this game.

Ioannes Lusius - You have as much talent as I do. If you used it, we'd be unstoppable.

Thomas Lusius - I'll try to improve my pass catching.

Ioannes Lusius - Good.

Prince Petrus - So, I will be talking to my father. Before our final home game of this World Bowl, the King's Government will see to it that the middle of Royal Stadium is in no condition to kick field goals. We will not give up 8 field goals of longer than 50 yards to the talking horses again. In our country, we can control the field conditions and we'll make sure the so-called "Fire Ponies" can't use their tactics against us.

Andreas Tuccius - That's just what I want to hear.

Prince Petrus - Now, we need to prepare for Cyborg Holland.

Thomas Lusius - Are they a bunch of gridiron-playing Cyborgs?

Prince Petrus - Probably. I haven't looked at the film yet.

Georgius Didius - I also haven't looked at film of them yet.

Prince Petrus - Everybody needs to be at Royal Stadium early tomorrow morning. We're going to do film study as a team and come up with game plans.

Georgius Didius - Defense, we'll be doing the same thing. We need to be ready for them.

The Sanctii hoped for a 5th victory and they hoped to put a significant dent into Cyborg Holland's point differential...

Period 1Period 2Period 3Period 4OTTotal
Stretta30107-20
Taeshan0700-7

Greg Bailey was a happy man. The All Maiden Complex was his second home. As the defensive coach for the Giroux Horde, he had received a lot of recognition for his work with what isn't considered a competitive team, yet much like in the World Bowl with this "all-star" team, they tended to hold their own against some of the toughest offences in the SFL. Head Coaches had said of Bailey that he was able to second-guess an offence, but in reality, he had a mind that etched out patterns in games. He could visually see the Xs and Os on the field of play. He didn't see a football match, he saw an intense mathematical model. Add to this level of mental analysis his great leadership, and he was a man that a defence looked to.

He knew that defeat was on the cards heading into the match, as did the rest of the coaching staff, the players and even the fans. Holding Taeshan back in the first seemed like a prolonging of the inevitable onslaught. When the first TD of the game came in, any small expectations of victory that anyone may have been developing after the first were shattered.

It was only at the 2-minute warning of the second half that that feeling resurfaced. Hodges had just launched a missile for the second Strettan TD, and the team were up 20-7. This was all on Bailey's shoulders. Taeshan could easily put 14 on the board in two minutes. They were a team that could accurately be described as 10 times better than Stretta, if the world rankings were anything to be believed. He used the time-out well. "Two more minutes, and then a day off tomorrow. Fight hard. No prisoners. Corner-backs will have their work cut out, which means linebackers need to be on their game as well. Take away the short passes, and let the guys with the legs cover these receivers. They aren't going to make two TDs in two minutes with a running game, so put that QB on his arse, or if you can't do that, get up in his face, scream at him, terrify him. If he leaves this last quarter with PTSD, you've done your job."

Giroux Enquirer wrote:A man has been found dead at his home in Giroux. It is expected that the man died between the hours of 12 and 2, and was beaten with a blunt instrument, before being shot.

Police are investigating a number of leads at the moment, and are asking anybody that can offer any information on this murder to contact them.

"The first seven matches of the World Bowl have now been concluded, and we are in the studio with Bobby Stevens, Charlie Hodges and Frank Aordan. Hello, gentlemen," There was only one sports radio station worth mentioning in Stretta, and when they asked for an interview, they normally got it. "So, well..." The presenter laughed. "There is only place to start. Top of the table?"

Stevens jumped right in. "6 for 1. We're competing with Darmen for the top spot, and it's the potency of our offense we have to thank for edging us ahead in the standings."

"It's easy to play offence when you've got a great defense shutting the opposition out." Hodges was keen to play down his role. "That and having a team with confidence."

A very familiar voice echoed the sentiment. "Now you know that you can beat all but 1 team, you've got to be confident. Although, being top of a league makes you a target. Those same teams now know that you are a threat." There was a sound of approval from the host and Stevens. Aordan continued. "That Taeshan result was a bit of a surprise, eh?"

Hodges and Stevens laughed, both beginning to talk at the same time. Stevens won the short vocal battle. "It's a funny game. Upsets like that are what make a tournament exciting. I think the home crowd helped massively in those victories against the higher ranked teams, but now the pressure is on. We need to make it count when they've got their home crowd behind them, when we're on the road.

"The true test is yet to come."

Offensive Explosion
More points scored in last 2 games than last 10 games combined

As reported in our last article, the offense has finally gained some sort of traction. With the best game in Sovan history, the defense showed life too. TSE blanked Grandterre by a score of 28-0. Both sides of the line of scrimmage worked for their pay, as there were 4 interceptions (1 of which was returned for a touchdown) and a record number of yards in passing and rushing for the Hurricanes. Tomas had a great day, as he broke his personal record for percent of complete passes (at 85%). The kicker was right on. When they needed him, Claus hit all of the extra points with ease. Riding a wave of momentum, the Hurricanes look to face the Allamunic States next match, who beat the Sovans in the first match by a score of 37-0. Hopefully, TSE can get some experience against the first ranked team in the world, or maybe even an upset, as that has happened a lot in this group.

A 400 yd passing day from Jim Zebow and a return home helped spark the Qazox Sharks to a 38-17 win over Slembana, and leaves the team as one of 3 unbeaten teams left. 4 TDs from Zebow to 4 different receivers in the 1st three quarters kept Qazox ahead of the upset minded Slembanans. After the mandatory bye week, Qazox hosts 1-6 The Fair Republic.
