ASMV AOCAF 39 Roster and Information

Permissions:
You can do anything you like short of killing off players

If anyone would like to RP events that take place on Vegai soil, all you have to do is to let me know. Some areas of the DSE would be off limits to even my own citizens so we just need to clarify the “borders”. At least two story lines (besides my own) will take place on Vegai soil or deeply involve the DSE one way or another in WC62. All you have to do is ask.

I have in the past allowed hotels to be bombed (I think that one involved Atheistic Right, Bazalonia, and Ariddia among others), allowed a refounding of a religious order (Arch), granted permission for stadiums to be blown up (Vilita), and allowed my people’s goddess, The Mitrin Vega, to be used for RP purposes (Wight). Those are but a few examples.

In other words, if you wish to use any Vegai peoples of places in RP, I am open to almost anything. Besides, it gives me new avenues for my own RP to take shape.

Thanks for listening.

Squad Name: Vagabonds

Home Pitch: Image
Stadii Se Triarii Rivii, - Capacity 60,000

Colors: Medium Blue, Lime Green, Yellow
Image

Style: Tidal Surge 3-2-2-1-2
(-2 defensive)

Image
The Sea Dragons play at Stadii Se Draggonnii Arcea. Since their release in that capacitu, the Vagabonds have not, and will not, set foot on that pitch. They have elected to play their home matches instead on the blue synthetic turf of Stadii Se Triarii Rivii (Stadium of the Three Rivers).
*

About the Tidal Surge
The Tidal Surge formation is a hybrid style that makes use of athleticism in key “flex” positions that allow the formation to ebb and flow between styles to take advantage of personnel match-ups and break opportunities. At any point in the match the Tidal Surge can more remind viewers and opponents of a 5-3-3 (most often) or a 3 4-3 (least often) but can usually be found flexing in between those extremes.
Three key positions make this formation work. The offensive midfielder with which everyone is familiar and the two hybrid positions called “UP” backs. These two positions are a direct cross between center midfielders and outside backs. These two positions use athletic ability to move up and down the pitch changing the formation to fit the needs of current needs. Thus at any one moment the formation can resemble anything from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 to a 5-3-2 creating, quite nearly, the perfect positions for almost any situation.

Other style notes:
“Smashmouth Footy”. That is how the Sea Dragons play when at their best. They prefer the motto “Hit First, Ask Forgiveness Later” and yet they have become adept enough as to remain just on the safe side of the cards so many other squads get. When you play the Sea Dragons two truths are evident - 1: You had better be ready to play tough and 2: you had better be ready for rough play.

Coaching Staff

Manager: Kymykera Wu’eres Age:59
Relieved of her duties as national side manager following the Sea Dragons perfect CoH campaign, along with all her staff and players, Kymy has kept the squad together under the new name of Vagabonds. Gaining the rights for her and this squad to participate as the Vegai entrants in the 39th AOCAF was an unforeseen event that the Vagabonds are looking forward to. This is their chance to prove themselves as the better side, especially considering the Sea Dragons plummet from 2nd in the world to their new rank of 17th since this side was dismissed.

Offensive Asst: Seyai At’roluii Age:37
Gone are the legendary goal scorers of late as Jonasei, Rainu, and Jahirri have all ridden off into their own sunsets. But one gets the impression that this starting pair of Sea Dragon forwards in the form of Aimee and Banjuru are ready to make a real name for themselves and could even rival the scoring of historic icons Pablo Iglesias and Porche Alexander. Seyai will work hard to make sure that no opportunity is missed.

Midfield Asst: Nonari Em'ran'oz Age:55
Nonari was the coaching staff find that the Sea Dragons had been searching for. Finally the center of the pitch was not a liability in WC 58 and has been brilliant since. Now it is key that the improvements continue as the Sea Dragons attempt to copy their third place showing.

Defenders Asst: Laia Un’jeru’betcii Age:47
Like Kymy before her, Laia has made the jump from world class player to successful coach. Her fire and tenacity off the pitch will hopefully translate to a continued on the pitch success for her defense. Also listed as a reserve, Laia could find herself playing before this run is over if injuries occur or new talent does not develop quickly.

Goalkeeper Asst Koyinii Os'ina Age:53
Few position coaches are as lucky as Koyinii as Sanlioch as emerged as an All-World keeper and Ban’engo could start for more than three-quarters of the nations present if they were that lucky. Fortunately they are not.

Forwards

LS 17 Aimee Irin‘Lur F 22 5’3 115
Plays in Vilitan League
If the name Irin’Lur seems familiar, it should. Aimee is the daughter of former Sea Dragon misfit and all-around “bad girl” Rainu Irin’Lur. And yes, many see Aimee as the demon-child second coming of her mother. But one thing is for certain, she knows how to put the ball into the back of the net.

LS 52 Banjuru Shr‘tuu M 31 5’11 171
Shalerix FK
The second leading scorer of the VAFK last five seasons, Banjuru proved his worth in World Cup 61 as defenses concentrated on Jaqinze. Now he must prove he can continue to score as he receives plenty of attention on his own.

S 12 Jaqinze Irin’arbor 29 5’7 144
Utica United (Osarius)
Jaqinze has turned into the goal scoring threat everyone knew she would be. Now entering the prime of her career and with Banjuru to keep the defenses honest, she looks to join the elite in the world as a goal scorer.

[b}Midfielders

OM 10 Jorgais Obu‘obua M 26 6’3 195
MalachI-Ifreet
Jorgais has quickly earned a name for himself in the collegiate ranks as a sure-footed scorer and even more so for his ability to make quick passes through tiny windows. Unlike his predecessor, he likes to stay forward and rarely drops into deep coverage.

RM 11 .Bareqii Ulu’namo F 28 5’8 130
Carrington FK
Bareqii is a magician when on ball. Cat-quick and with speed to spare she adds some excitement to the middle of the pitch. The world had better take notice as she ahs become the most dominant midfielder the Sea Dragons have to offer.

LM 29 Akaok Kapekeoa M 43 6’5 210
Et’ai Zirakul
A native Zirakulii, Akao has become a true Vegai hero on the pitch and a terror to opposing teams as well. Huge and bronze skinned he makes quite an impression in this traditional grass skirt and body paint. That he has lost a step is not a question, but he remains one of the most feared players in the world. When skills begin to erode, intimidation is a wonderful replacement.

M 39 Turlin Ironbeard M 148 4’5 155
Stonengarten Sarud
Turlin excels at using his small stature to lose himself among the bigger players and come out cleanly with the ball. Jorgais and the strikers should benefit from his ability to play the ball forward with pinpoint precision.

Up-Backs

RUB 13 Osurun Ayami M 31 6’5 175
Darmen City FC (Darmen)
A native of the newly acquired territories of Mara-kai, Osurun is a perfect blend of size and speed for the up-back position. Deceptively fast, he looks awkward at times but has a knack for being in the right place. He will be pushed hard by reserve Xia Cuolai, another Mara-Kaii player with more experience but without his natural skill.

LUB 14 Nelijibii Sam'roth'oq F 38 6’0 150
FK Kelsey
The best true up-back the Sea Dragons have fielded since Kymykera, Nelijibii has the potential to become the best player on the pitch. she dictates the pace of not only the opposition’s attack but her own side’s pace while in transition.

UB 69 Xia Cuolai F 34 5’6 135
Loire-Mourenx
Xia is a solid, if unspectacular, player who knows her limits and excels by staying within them. She feels slighted that Osurun was chosen to join the starting eleven rather than her and will make the best of any chance she gets to prove the staff wrong.

Backs

RB 50 Ombar Stonewall M 171 4’10 140
Stonengarten UH
A hard hitting, hard rocking, Dwarf who loves to show bigger players just how tough they are not, Ombar excels at punishing those who challenge him directly (within the rules of the game, of course). Has taken a cue from Akaok and now wears traditional Dwarven War Facepaint for every match.

CB 27 Karinzui Sa’astre F 27 5’9 165
Utica United (Osarius)
She plays with a reckless abandon that leaves opposing attackers running for their lives. If she can learn when to hit, a place where Laia excelled, she will be a star in no time at all.

LB 54 Ozyxomidruin Lamas’Porii M 38 5’10 156
Charleston Athletic (Osarius)
Another thug on the back line, Ozyx tends to be the stabilizer for the back three - a role he has had to grow into. Now comfortable with calling the assignments of the defense he can focus more on the punishment he loves to dish out.

B 97 Sammala Usikoec M 29 6’4 230
Et’ai Zirakul
Another grass-skirt clad Zirakulii who looks to make a name for himself, Samm is a very physical back.

Keepers

K 99 Sanlioch Bez’Al M 38 6’3 242
Errion Vega FK
Can anyone say “World’s Best Keeper”? we can and we do. Enough said.

K 84 Eathohatu Ban'engo M 36 6’5 205
Vegai 4th Quad
World class in his own right, most sides wish there starter were this solid.

Crowned Federation of Khytenna's National Team

Style Mod: +2.0

Khytenna's come from a set of islands in the south of the Atlantian Oceania, they are Extremely tenacious (which is both a pro and a con) they really don't know when to give up and have a never die sprite. they play a fast game of quick one touch football with the runs from the wing. Firestone usually gets all the goals.

The human members of the team play as, well, humans. Using feet, head, etc. I don't need to explain this to you.

The pteronurian players play 'football' a little differently. Generally, a pteronurian player will use their head more than any other part of their body especially for dribbling and then their tail for more powerful passes and shots. Due to the nature of this style of play, helmets have been allocated to minimise injuries. The pteronurians wear no other kit as, as they put it, they are not as prudish as their human counterparts. They will probably never use their paws. Despite being capable of standing and walking bi-pedally, they rarely do and scamper around in a way akin to a ferret.

The Lymryk Isles play a quick, short passing game. Working their way towards the opponents goal with slow build-up play, occaisionally interspersed with a long ball counter-attack. The pteronurians being surprisingly nippy on land when they choose to be. From corners or other such set-pieces, expect crosses at difficult heights for humans. As your defender (assuming they're human ... ) tries to decide whether to head the ball or get their leg up high, a springing pteronurian will have probably already bounded through and headed goalward.

Also, do not be alarmed should you find a semi-chewed fish outside your changing room, or find yourself being presented one. This is a gesture of friendship and goodwill amongst pteronurians. However, feel free to freak out should one of our human players exhibit this behaviour.

Some other bits and bobs in my factbook, though feel free to TG me with any queries regarding the strange and wonderful inhabitants of the Lymryk Isles.

(OOC: This will take place in June/July 2021 Yelvoldian time)

YBC Sports - Football - Squad for World Cup 63

By Tom Nitwick

Here, we will reveal our squad for the 39th AOCAF, which will be held in Valanora. The AOCAF is the regional football cup for our region (Atlantian Oceania).

All players in the squad will be badgers. The badgers are all able to talk, and all have human intelligence. They are in our squad because the badger is our national animal. These badgers were all engineered to be able to talk and have human intelligence in harmless labs. This is a change from our last tournament (AOCAF 38), as we had humans in that squad.

Starting XI (4-1-3-2):
GK: Jay Farley (age 22)
RB: Martin Albertson (age 32)
CB: Anna Japlin (age 28)
CB: Vandrill Markon (captain) (age 37)
LB: James Baxter (age 27)
CDM: Jack Brown (age 31)
RW: Ben Ligerworth (age 23)
CAM: Tim Beaton (age 25)
LW: Gary McGovern (age 29)
RS: Patrick Vale (age 20)
LS: Connor Evans (age 30)
Substitutes bench:
GK: Marty Haryx (age 31)
CB: Cameron Barnes (age 28)
LB: Ian Smythe (age 34)
RW: Jake Blackburn (age 25)
CAM: Yerrin Green (age 31)

Audioslavia is an ancient nation, recently having celebrated the 10th OOC anniversary of its inception. The nation originally CTE'd in 2006, was revived briefly in 2007 and 2009, and enjoyed a proper resurgence at the start of 2012, locating itself in Atlantian Oceania indefinitely after IC centuries of rivalries with various nations in the region.

The Audioslavia national side participated in World Cups 4 to 29, made an abortive comeback in World Cup 37, and rejoined the world of international football properly back in World Cup 59. The ancient Audioslavia side qualified for all but one of the World Cups it entered (a young Audioslavia failed during the WC5 qualifying playoffs) and generally maintained a place in top twenty of the world rankings, peaking at #1 during the qualifying phases of World Cups 20 and 21.

Paradoxically, the national team has seen more success in its modern form. Whereas the early years yielded only the inaugural U21 World Cup and a string of losing finals in the World Cup proper, the modern team won the Baptism of Fire tournament before WC59 and triumphed in the thirty-fifth and thirty-eighth installments of the AOCAF Cup. The side have also reached the final of the AOCAF cup on two other occasions, and have reached as far as the semi-finals of the Cup of Harmony.

Modern Audioslavia finally won the World Cup itself in cycle 63, a victory that required a huge amount of luck and some very po-faced, negative football. Audioslavia managed to win the tournament despite going into the qualifiers with a ranking of #53 in the world, and although they are now World Champions pundits agree that they are far from being the best side in the world.

Ten Things Audioslavia's football team are famous for:
1: The claret and green striped kits, complete with white pinstripe. They have been like this, with the odd exception, since World Cup 4.
2: Jeremy Jaffacake. The indescribable Jaffacake has been a satellite of the national team - both as sports journalist and member of the FFA - since World Cup 6. It is unwise to cross Jeremy Jaffacake. In fact, it's often unwise to even look at him. Jaffacake is arguably the most infamous character in the entirety of sports RPing. He's certainly the oldest.
3:Choking in major finals. Audioslavia were the record holders for losing the most amount of World Cup finals without a victory, having failed in WCs 12, 19, 20 and 29. When you include modern Audioslavia's travails at the final stage of major tournaments, however, our record now stands at a much more respectable 4-6.
4: Being almost unbeatable in semi-finals. Audioslavia's senior side have a scarily good record in the last four, currently standing at 10-1.
5: Off pitch entertainment: A fervent, yet well-behaved support. Audioslavia's fans are generally friendly, enjoy mixing with the locals and are partial to the odd litre of whisky, not to mention the tabloid antics of one Jeremy Jaffacake.
6: On-pitch anti-entertainment. The Audioslavian national team have always played effective, if uninspiring football. The side are usually solid, with a cautious approach play and a willingness to hold on to possession rather than attempt anything too rash.
7: Building rivalries: Audioslavia count, and have counted, a lot of nations as their 'rivals'. They are, in order of healthiest to most hated: Lemmitania, Karditan, New Montreal States, Halfassedstates, Iansisle, Vilita/Turori, Bedistan, Squornshelous, Rejistania, Total n Utter Insanity, Krytenia U19s, Krytenia U21s, Krytenia 'C'. Krytenia 'B', Them. (Notable exceptions: Starblaydia ('the enemy of mine enemy is a team we've never played very often'), Armed Bears/Bears Armed ('caused Silexhera and Audioslavia all sorts of problems in the past, but are too cute to be hated'), Dorian and Sonya ('you can't hate someone you pretty much have the measure of, and we know for a fact they're about five foot two'), Liverpool England/Liventia ('good Audioslavian teams have beaten bad LivEng/Liventian teams. Good Liv teams have beaten bad Audioslavia teams. We've played each other plenty of times, but never with too much needle'.))
8: Audioslavia have had, throughout their history, a disproportionate amount of wingers with names beginning with 'J'.
9: Audioslavia are the first and only team to have been eliminated from the group stage of a World Cup on penalties.
10: Audioslavia is home to Kirola Sportswear, the manufacturers of some of the more... avant garde football strip designs seen around the World Cup.

Audioslavian footballers tend to be a little on the small side compared to modern NS athletes. The average height for a goalkeeper is about 6'0, but centre-halves tend to top out at 5'11 and other outfielders rarely venture higher than 5'9 (although the 'target-man' style strikers tend to be taller). All of Audioslavia's players, throughout history, have been human and male. Our players tend to be fairly quick with a lot of stamina and physical fitness, and are proficient at short passing. In general, however, our technique is fairly poor, our forward play is particularly uncreative and our small-ish team tends to struggle against physical teams. Our goals usually come near the end of games as our high stamina wins through.

As for the current crop, big striker Karsten Eiger is, at 6'2, easily the biggest member of the squad and is used as a target man for the team's five midfielders. Velazquez is temperamental and is prone to picking up yellow cards, Soccorso is a limited water-carrier of a midfielder and is too easily out-witted by opposing playmakers, Zonnestraal and Mannestraal Jansen are twins, both wingers, both very very fast and with the ability to play with either foot. Elsewhere in midfield, James Courier is the twenty-one year old sensation who's harrying midfield play helped Audioslavia to the last World Cup, while new-boy Garrastazu is a product of Falconwhereveryouare's involvement in professionalising the formerly amateur Audioslavian team Moreazerua and moving them to their league. In defence, John Ryan is turning into a world-classs centre-half, but the rest of the back four are nothing special. Goalkeeper Imaslavii is a rising star in the Vilitan leagues, currently in the squad at the famous Jungle Strike F.C.

A notable name on the bench is Weverton Sporadic. Weverton is the son of former Silexhera striker, former Audioslavia manager and current (although that might not be the case soon) Licentiapacisterra manager Kelly Sporadic, and was an ever-present between WC59 and 62. He remains the most gifted player modern Audioslavia has ever produced, and although age had relegated him to the bench for the WC63 qualifiers, he played a part in every game at the World Cup finals and was credited with a place in the tournament's best XI.

Roleplaying permissions: We frown on god-modding if there isn't a sense of humour behind it. Everything else - injuries, red cards etc - is fine.

Ibex is a small, mostly-desert, land-locked nation most likely found slightly west of The Inevitable Syndicate (our cartographers are still working to determine our exact position in AO). It is populated mainly by "intelligent" Ibexes (goats). They speak, they work, and they pray; that's about it. The other species--pretty much any intelligent four-hooved creature other than ponies, cows, and pigs--tend to be slightly more educated and in administrative or important business positions, while still maintaining their spirituality. The top tiers of government and business are mostly the least-religious Ibexes, and tend to use the Opiate of the Masses as propaganda and a tool of oppression. Humans are advised to avoid visiting if they can; authorization for entry is difficult to obtain, unauthorized humans are usually enslaved, and there's not that much to see, anyway. Except for the hoofball, of course, and also some magnificent Cathedrals if that's your thing.

Kits courtesy of Kirola Sportswear of Audioslavia. The kit actually shown is worn by the team's human Valet; the players will be wearing kits of almost identical design, but shaped properly for their specific species.

He's been playing for various teams in West Guiana's National Soccer Association, won the NSA Cup twice while with FC United, why yes his name is Don Hummel. He was hired as West Guiana's national Soccer Team heacd coach just two weeks ago. The WGSA (West Guiana Soccer Administration) figured the next head coach should be some one whos been with the team and they had only one canidate.

While Hummel is the head coach he's also a player, though he as notified the team and fans that AOCAF 39 will be his last tournament at lest as a player.

Stadium
Located right along the banks of the St. Johns River in downtown Gemsbrook, it is home to the domestic soccer club Gemsbrook FC of the National Soccer Association. It was built in 2008 and has a capacity of 27,800, expandable to 33,000. Traffic is harsh mainly during rush hour however after the installment of exit 197 off I-22 getting to the stadium has become much easier.

"So have you seen our group for AOCAF 39?"
"Yep"

"What do you think?"
"We're fucked"

"That sums it up quite well"
"Well it would've been bad if we had got the likes of ASMV or Valnora but we lucked out and got Audioslavia"

"To be fair we have beaten them before"
"Yeah, once we have played them a total of five times losing three"

"Yes but they were close, I mean in the 5 times we have come up against them we have scored 5 goals and they have scored 8"
"So we got lucky once"

"I think you're overreacting"
"Mate, listen to yourself, your saying we can have a chance at beating the current AOCAF and World Cup champions. That would be like saying Dartmond has a chance of beating Port Fansat"

"There is always a chance we have done it once recently we can do it again"
"I think your dreaming"

"Well what about the rest of the group?"
"Hutt River, they are a strong side tough to beat them too. Carpathia and Ruthenia well we have faced them twice and lost both times so we will lose to them too. As for Lemurian well we might have a chance against them but who knows we may end up bottom of the table"

"So what you're saying is we're fucked?"
"That is what I said"
You know you've made it on NSG when you have a whole thread created around what you said.

AOCAF 39

Pre-Koselite Nation

The story Bog Thing, presently being related by the unreliable narrator of Wight Empy Summons in the Di Bradini Cup, tells of the discovery of a lost tribe, who claim to have been tenants of the land thereabouts before the Wight Catastrophe, and before the Koseli landmass was emptied, and before even the Turkish empire of the Cumhuriyetler, and before the land was marked on any map, and before all the modern and ancient nations of Atlantian Oceania, and before the region had a name, and before the frightful elves of the region crawled out from under their sundry rocks, even right back before words like forum and metagame were invented. Imagine the surprise then, when this previously unheard of peoples suddenly signed up a team for a football tournament in Wight - the fourth World Cuppet. Even President-Dictablanda Jean Baptiste, who knows an awful lot of things, had not heard of the people who were calling themselves the Pre-Koselite Nation. “We will watch with interest,” he said, bemused, when he saw the list of sign-ups, “and in the meantime, see if we can't find out a little more about these people living apparently under our noses.”

In no time at all the Pre-Koselites, who know themselves also as the Vojaĝanto, and are called in Wight the Indegenes, found themselves promoted to the status of First Nation, as the Broken Islands are now a constitutionally-protected dual nation. The leader of the Pre-Koselites, Baron Samedi, is said to be very pleased with the outcome, and even invited President-Dictablanda Baptiste to tea at the Pre-Koselites' main camp, Big Hole, up in the mountains. There has been an exchange of embassies, of sorts. And the football team surprised everyone too, winning through to the quarterfinals of the World Cuppet with an interesting brand of naive but optimistic attacking football. And here they go again, for a second tournament in Valanora, though they had to borrow some money from Wight for the train and ferry fares, since they are a cashless society; and had to depart a month early to get there, since they do not believe in flying.

Presently very little is known or understood of the Pre-Koselites. It is something of an embarrassment to the government that a whole society seems to be existing alongside the new arrivals from faraway and uncertain Old Wight who thought they were moving in to an empty country. They presumably live in the mountainous, boggy and generally inhospitable interior of the main island, which has largely remained unsettled since the Wightlings arrived approximately six years ago. What we do know of them comes from a physical description written by Empy Summons:

They were tall and slim, with chiselled faces, bronzed from a northerly sun, and with the most remarkable silver-white hair that had a blue-purple sheen to it in the unnatural light of the void. Their eyes were yellow-amber, and set in dark, dark recesses as if they had not slept in a month.

Other early descriptions have them speaking a french-creole sounding language, displaying a dislike of elves and deifying a broad pantheon of nature spirits which they identify with by adopting middle names according to their own guardian mischief-maker. While they have registered with formal names, many also go by more informal familiar names, indicated here in brackets where known.

AOCAF 39 Group Preview

23rd February 12013

Raynor City, VALANORA---- The Group draws for the latest AOCAF have been done in Valanora, so we here at ILN are here to give you a breakdown of the teams before the event. I, Harvey Harding, relatively new here at ILN, will be your go-to for anything concerning this latest AOCAF. For the Syndicate, the AOCAF will always signal the start of a new cycle, as it was the first football tournament we signed up for.

We are in Group D. D for... Despair? Nah, this seems to be a rather good group, and seeing as we were in the third pot, we're middle of the road compared to the other teams. Speaking of the other teams, they are...

Dorian and Sonya Rank: 8
Dorian and Sonya, the Sylvanaes Queendom as they are known, will be a formidable force for the Syndicate to clash against. Ranked 8th in the AOCAF rankings, we don't predict a win here, but if we try exceptionally hard, then we might pull something off.

Farfadillis Rank: 12
Our good friends the Farves are back again, this time in our group. We've seen a lot of the Farfadillis National Team, as we were in the same group in the World Cup, and they were the hosts of the AOCAF 38. An exceptional team that should be respected, but a win is achievable, as we've done it in the past.

San Potato Rank: UR
Those cheeky so-and-so's we met at the Baptism of Fire, San Potato have shown they are a competent team that plays well. That doesn't mean anything in the AOCAF, as they make their debut here. We'll be hoping to beat them, as some sort of revenge for them not beating Kaledor in the final. After all, our youth team just knocked them out of the Di Bradini Cup!

Pre-Koselites Rank: UR
Who?

Anyway, that's all for the group preview, and I look forward to reporting in the AOCAF 39, in Valanora! Here's hoping we do well!

A Group A Preview

The Group A team to beat is Valanora
The Hosts and an accomplished performer
We could earn a win
If Margaret steps in
Or help from Megatron, the evil transformer

To insignificance, our knowledge of Thatius, is paling
But we know behind them, we're drastically trailing
We can maybe hope for a draw
Little chance of anything more
At least we're kicking their ass in Vegai sailing

To Naitpyge, ranked seven and twenty
Again, we're no AOCAF cognoscenti
Now this may meet derision
But why do I envision
A land of upside-down pyramids aplenty?

Khytenna are our final foe
And although ranking-wise we're still below
Our best chance to succeed
But it's hardly guaranteed
Though to lose would cause us great woe

In truth, we don't much rate our chances
But as Hooktooth, captain and pteronurian says
"Play each game as it comes
Show them all we're no bums
And we'll all see which of the teams advances"

"This funny old game may see us squish
High ranked opponents, if such is our wish
There's no point being defeatist
Let's aim to crumble the elitist
Now, does anyone fancy a fish?"

'Swag' the kids called it. To Jeremy, the word implied a black sack over the shoulder of a burglar, hooped charcoal sweater, eyemask and all. To 'the kids' as apparently they called themselves, it was a certain way of walking, of acting, of being.
Jeremy'd had no use for the word until two years ago.
Karsten Eiger's finish, Starblaydian fans streaming out a football stadium. That roar, one that would become unnoticeable after half an hour, that became twice as deafening when it finally died down, the brain replacing it with a dull ringing in the ear. Jeremy remembered that sound above all else. The bright metallic chiming of a tuning fork being struck against two trophies.
Champions of the World, champions of Atlantian Oceania, technically, provably the best team on the planet.
Sticking it to Rami Niblick. Throwing that ancient, swooping mackintosh around his shoulders, pointing to the scoreboard, watching a man in claret and green take to a podium, receive the World Cup trophy from an Aguazulenya suit and, in front of seventy-thousand people on a humid tropical evening in Turori, and the world watching on in their billions - Krytenia, Starblaydia, New Montreal States, maybe even Iansisle, Lemmitania and Total n Utter Insanity - lift the World Cup trophy in the name of Audioslavia.
Ah. So that's what 'swag' is.

Later, a giant, gallant, euphoric leap from the proverbial wagon to a very real pub and all the Burung Brew beer he could drink. Songs with travelling Audioslavians, old choruses questioning the veracity of Rejistanian claims of parenthood, the size of the manhoods of Starblaydian men, a similar question of 'size' with regards to Legalese women. One song united the two concepts to a swingier version of the tune to "You Are My Sunshine":

You are my Starblayde, Tiberius Starblayde
He lived in a whorehouse in old Legalese
The hookers escaped and
Fled north to a wasteland
And there they founded Jhanna City

There were other stanzas too, mainly along the same lines. An 'Audioslavian version of events' regarding the formation of the ancient central AO nations of Starblaydia and Legalese. It was the one song the Krytenians in attendance could bear to sing along to. Rubio Sanchez grinning, at the top of his voice, arm around his fiance, watching a dispirited Starblaydia chase shadows in the final minutes of the football match. Rami Niblick, under his breath, a pained attempt at concentrating only on the positive - Starblaydia losing - and desperately attempting to ignore the other half of the equation. The half that involved claret and green ticker-tape cascading down onto his grumpy arse as would have done at the ceremony had he still been there.

A flight home afterwards, back to Audioslavia, to a long warm summer, back to work for a weeks, articles rejoicing, pointing fingers at pundits who'd rubbished the Bulls team, in general a big foam hand with a finger pointing directly to the island's collective arses, a gesture for the detractors to kiss it.

It had taken a week longer for it to dawn on Jeremy that the victory was a popular one, that the new world was behind Audioslavia, seeing them as more an amusing relic of the old times, rather than the haughty old bastion of the establishment they had been in centuries before.

The honeymoon period had lasted a while. Jeremy had basked in it and, when the time came to get back to work, he duly retired instead.

"I'm seventy" he'd lied to Rubio as he gave his now former-colleague the news.
"You're three hundred and squillionty if you're a day" Rubio had said, but he'd accepted. Jeremy Jaffacake was only supposedky immortal. His means for living as long as he had were down to a number of different reasons - time travels slower in a plot-hole was still his favourite - but he'd aged fifteen years in the past twenty, after having gone through barely fifty-five in the previous three-hundred, and if he was going to get through at least ten more he'd need to go back to his old ways: The dreamed realm, 'magic', plot-holes and the like. In short, away from Audioslavia.

Audioslavia were the world champions now. To champion the claret and green was no longer ridiculous, it was the norm. What else was Jeremy to do?

His seat at the Cathair Tribune was still warm from his flatulence when Sue Dysos took over. It was her article, a few weeks before christmas 2167, a day after the draw for next summer's AOCAF Championships, that he sat down to read as he sunned himself by a swimming pool in whatever country he was in this month.

Audioslavia
Reigning, defending champions of Atlantian Oceania, regional #1, and I'm not sure if you've heard or not, but apparently they won a World Cup recently. Might have slipped under the radar, that.

For the Bulls, the least anyone expects is a place in the tournament's grand finale at the end of June. Things may not, however, be so simple.

A glance at the draw reveals that the Audioslavians are in the same half of the draw as a certain Pacitalia, twice foils of ours in the final of the AOCAF, by far the most successful side in the regional tournament's history, and managed by none other than Andre-Luis Partico.

And what a couple of years he's had. The 'part-time' position of Pacitalia boss has given A-LP time to mull over his decision to leave the Bulls after victory in AOCAF Cup 38, the importance of which has been obscured somewhat by the outlandish triumph in the World Cup. Does A-LP regret letting Israel Klimt lead the side to victory? Would Audioslavia have won the tournament with Partico in charge? Either way, there is the very real possibility of a second round match, or even a semi-final, between the two sides ranked #1 and #2 in the region to settle a few old scores, until the next tournament at least.

Hutt River
Standing in Audioslavia's path from the group stage are the smeg-heads from Hutt River, a rag-tag bunch of individuals who boast, among their number, a hologram, a robot, a scouser and a being who evolved over ten million years from a simple house-cat to a more-or-less sentient human being. Some say the team were great twenty years ago, and that the newer showings have been adept at least. This journalist would argue, however, that the team has not aged well, that repeated viewings of former Hutt River teams hint at a very, very over-rated line-up that has not stood the test of time.

Hutt River argue their football is light-years ahead of Audioslavia's - about ten million light years to be exact - and they'll hope to prove that on the field.

Blouman Empire
Ah, Blouman Empire. For years they seemed like the only side Audioslavia were ever sure of beating. Then, however, came World Cup 62 qualifying, and the 2-1 reverse that ended our unbeaten run against the men in red and did for the international management career of Txo 'The Cauliflower' Morea. How the fortunes of Audioslavia managers have changed in the intervening time!

The Bloumanis have been going through a similar rut to that which the Audioslavians found ourselves in during the ill-fated attempt to qualify for World Cup 62. In WC63 qualifying the side finished a disappointing seventh behind the likes of Megadia, Estope and Royalsoldiers. The side will hope to assert themselves in this AOCAF Cup, and are an outside bet for a qualifying spot.

Carpathia and Ruthenia
Also in Blouman Empire's World Cup 63 qualifying group were the men (and women) from the Carpathians. C+R did the double over the Empire there, but form suggests the Carpathia/Ruthenians aren't quite the force they were in recent years. World Cup 63 saw the first time they failed to qualify for the premier tournament in some time and, coming into this AOCAF Cup with a modest ranking of thirty, not much is expected of them this time out.

The old adage, however, does state that 'form is temporary, class is permanent', and one is loathe to write off the boys (and girls) in blue just yet.

Lemurian

An unknown quantity, though we suppose there'll be eleven of them. Unranked Lemurian has no real footballing background, and may be here simply to make up the numbers.

Now there's a comment that may well bite me in the arse later.

Elsewhere

Alongside our rivals Pacitalia in Group F are two familiar rivals in Milchama, who Audioslavia played to a dull nil-nil draw in the World Cup, and a friend from over the newly-named Strait of Champions in the form of Legalese. Either one of those two or Slembanan badger-puppet Yelvoldia could face Audioslavia in a tasty clash should the Bulls top the group. Finish second, however, and the chances are the tournament's predicted final - Audioslavia vs Pacitalia - could be played in the second round.

Hosts Valanora should make light work of a modest Group A that also includes our two closest neighbours in Thatius and Naitpyge, while group B contains odd religious goat-zealots Ibex alongisde a strong Vilita/Turori side that could make it all the way to the final if only they could settle their differences. Elsewhere in a mouthwatering group B are talented newbs Secundus Kasius, former champs 95X and the one and only Maklohi Vai who, after breaking their winless streak with a fantastic run in World Cup qualifying, will look to gain their first ever AOCAF Cup win against some tough opposition.

In group C are Geisenfried, a supposed favourite team of Maklohi Vai who have historically benefitted from the few decent results MV could muster. NMS-Wight mouthwatering clash between two close nations, both of which are our rivals, old and new, while group D sees Farfadillis and their attempt to build on their shock semi-final appeaance last time out, and who have been dealt with perhaps the easiest group of all, containing only a past-it Dorian and Sonya and two unranked teams, with only The Inevitable Syndicate as a real threat, even if that's mainly for future championships.

Andossa Se Mitrin Vega have finally shown up properly for the tournament after years of selecting sub-strength side, and will go in Group G alongside unfancied Austernasy, a decent New West Guiana outfit and those damned Kinitarians, while Group H is a real hum-dinger of a group. Losers Starblaydia will attempt to struggle out of a group containing a fledgling Savski Venac team, old-timers Kiryu-Shi, and pesky island-grabbing stalwarts Leorudo.

I've been Sue Dysos, g'nite bitches.

Going back to their World Cup 63 squad this time.Mostly.

The crusaders are known for their amazing quick paced passing and amazing plays in the injury time.David Johnson is a known penalty stopper, being only scored 13 times out of 48 attempts. The Fields brothers can use their amazing pace to attack down the flanks. Jonny is the better passer and crosser while Larry can penetrate through the opposition. Edwards and Mbah a Moute are bulky and strong, being very hard to pass by.

The midfield is by far the best part of the crusaders offense. Dwight Brown is the playmaker. With amazing sight and awareness, he is always able to find Johnson,Shearer and the occasional Bryant for the easy goal. King and James help out in the build up.Donaldson has amazing tackling and long passing ability also makes him a threat in starting the play. With amazing jumping ability,he always seems to win the headers even when he is only 5'11.He is also the team's free kick taker, with amazing power on both his feet.

Young star Gary JR has been promoted to the first team after this great performance in the Di Bradini Cup.Being the son of a great striker,Crusaders coach Gary.Sr,jr has been great too.Great weak foot, great dribbler, great poacher. He is really an all around striker with not major weaknesses. He even improved from his lack of awareness in the Di Bradini cup.Joe Johnson has amazing dribbling and speed.Combined with amazing accuracy, once he gets past, you have to hope that your goalkeeper can stop him.9 goals in 4 games is an amazing feat,he is San Potato's star and major threat.

Hey guys, it's Lumo again. I'll be doing a brief preview of the upcoming AOCAF 39, where Maklohi Vai has been drawn into Group B. Sorry for the length, but as you know, I have a character limit*.

Vilita & Turori (6)
Ah, the founders of our great region and their little brother. A long tradition of football excellence and pride, as well as dominating lesser teams. They may only be sixth, but that's plenty to beat us. A loss here.

95X (16)
95X is a team we know little about, but they have a decent amount of experience across the AOCAF and over international sports in general. We've seen them in other competitions, and they practice hard and put their effort in. You can most certainly expect them to work hard for this tournament. We might be able to pull something out, but most likely not. A loss here.

Secundus Kasius (24)
This is the wild card of our group. SK is a new team to AO, and to sports in general, but they have shown great determination in rising through the ranks and trying to get to the top. They will certainly put up a fight, but I believe that our Vaian boys can do well. A tie is predicted here.

Ibex (UR)
A new team, made entirely of goats. They'll hoof it around, and we might butt some heads, but I think we'll scramble further up the mountain than they will be. A win here.

Overall, a 1-1-2 record, not enough to qualify but enough to be respectable. We shall wait until the World Cup, gentlemen.

OOC: *My IC excuse for an OOC problem: relationships in RL restricting my time. Thanks for understanding.

GK:
Name: Erfaon Lisdiren
Age: 24
Team: Ajax Carloburgo (Valladares)
Style: Acrobatic goalkeeper
Bio: He was discovered by a Gorfalle Town scout by the age of 18. Quickly rose to fame by becoming the FFL's goalkeeper of the year with Flying Jellyfish and was consequently bought by Ferdullaele FC. He can stop almost any shot, but will almost always lose the ball due to poor handling, or send it out. He can still handle easy shots, so he's really unlikely to commit a gross error. He's been a really good keeper at club level and national level and recently moved to Valladar relegation-threatened team Ajax Carloburgo, where he single-handedly saved them from relegation and got them to their best league position ever. His performances were key for Farfadillis' third place last AOCAF as hosts. His best performance was without a doubt against the Blue Foxes of Pacitalia, having been the only one to keep Farfadillis up and able to fight along with Tuzzio in what was probably the most important match in Farfadillis' history.

LB:
Name: Illi Setentriona
Age: 22
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Can join the attack precisely, good at defending
Bio: Illi Setentriona is really good when joining the attack, really good at tackling and short, but fast. His dribblings are impressive and is almost always unmarked. He used to be the captain of the U-21 side, before he turned 22. Apparently, he's seeking for a move out. However, he's never said a thing, one of those quiet guys at conferences. Though not the one that everyone wants to be or the one who scores that very important goal or makes that spectacular steal that saves the game, his two cents are very important for the team, as he and Frêndê are Farfadillis' way of wreaking even more havoc. His marking isn't impressive, but he rarely ever needs to mark as Farfadillis likes to hold possesion for long periods of time.

CB:
Name: Yung Chinsúa
Age: 24
Team: Feardallis' Wanderers
Style: Fast defender, aerial threat
Bio: He's been the captain ever since Saindí retired after WC60's Qualifyings. His performances last World Cup were terrible, but Rossizzo still trusts him. He's demonstrated he's an aerial threat despite being short, as he's good at knowing where the ball is heading and when to jump, as well as fouling people without the referee noticing. He's also really strong now and can tackle with extreme ease. However, it's proven he hasn't taken any kind of steroids or similar. He's fast and can dash to the ball at a very good speed for a defender. Still, he's often questioned by the Farf media because of how many chances the opponents often get during a match, ignoring the fact that he's often the only defender to prevent counterattacks, which are the most threatening weapon that can be used against La Vherderoja. However, nobody really pays attention to the Farf media, as Farves may be a bit aggresive, uneducated and so on but nonetheless smart enough to notice blatant lies that now a days are a common-sight.

RB:
Name: Agundí Frêndê
Age: 24
Team: Mabel Wigglytuffs (Northern Sunrise Islands)
Style: Very selfish, awesome dribbler.
Bio: He's arguably the best dribbler of the team, with Tuzzio competing for this unofficial title as well. He's one of Rossizzo's favourites due to his playing style, his performances on Farfadillis' last matches were impressive. So far, he hasn't received much momentousness, but he may any time soon. A player everyone should fear at least a bit, you never know when he can score the goal you don't want to concede. His talent at through passing is obvious as well, he's demonstrated it continuously, as well as his spectacular dribbling, which is vital for Farfadillis to create attacks, he and Setentriona form the duo of "defenders" that do anything except defending. Neither of them are good at defending, but their collaborations for the Farf attack are enough to make both of them worthy of the starter spot, unless Rossizzo wants a more defensive formation, in which case Nessi kicks in. He won a cup with Mabel Wigglytuffs of Northern Sunrise Islands, but the team's performances at the Sunrisian league have been pretty average.

CDM:
Name:
Frion Wanderis
Age: 22
Team: 1.FFC Turbine Decraa (Mytannion)
Style: Very good defensively, very good dribbler, good passer.
Bio: Frion Wanderis is very good in important areas of the midfield, specially on a defensive point of view. He's a very important player of the team now, and never gets substituted. He's been performing awesomely lately, how much his form may last is unknown. These performances spotted the attention of Mytanar team 1.FFC Turbine Decraa, who are battling relegation and bought him to lead them forward out of the relegation zone. He and Mêndêlöíndçêl form another duo like that of Setentriona and Frêndê or Tuzzio and O'rosso. They're the ones who take care of keeping possesion and recovering it, both are good at defending, afterall. Wanderis is pretty good at retaining it as well, and even causing some problems to the defense when trying, though the effort he outputs isn't something you'd like, he still does pretty well, and has a high football IQ that helps him on everything. Perfect understanding of tactics and perfect prediction to steal the ball make his marking outstanding in a way and makes him a very important part of set pieces. His dribbling is very good and it helps him retain the ball, as mentioned.

CDM:
Name: Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl [C]
Age: 19
Team: Oyardo FC (Astograth)
Style: Very energetic, decent when it comes to technique and superb defensively.
Bio: Yurpá's not that good with the ball, but he's a ball-recovering machine. He was named most promising young player of the FFL and third best young player of the Astograthian League. He's got a solid place on the midfield, playing with Wanderis as a duo to keep possesion, Farfadillis' roots in its game. He's almost never the main protagonist of matches, but his constant steals always give Farfadillis an advantage, despite how he sometimes scores goals from long distances with strong missiles he's got used to execute. Has now forged an identity inside the field, often leading his teammates, an experienced tactician at a young age. Recently signed for astograthian side Oyardo FC, also, will be the captain this WC as he did really well as captain last AOCAF. He scored the equalizing goal in the Astograthian Cup Final that Oyardo won against Echegoyan. He's particularly ramarkable for how much effort he puts on the game, unlike his teammate Wanderis. This balances Wanderis' lack of will and makes them a very effective duo with Wanderis giving the skill and him giving the effort. His defensive skills are impressive, his steals are impossible to foresee as he's spectacularly fast and his passing is decent overall, with his dribbling not really being remarkable but not something you'd punish him for.

LM:
Name: Friekder Dandalleion
Age: 20
Team: Jungle Strike (Vilita)
Style: Extremely Fast, always helps on the offense, a bit on the defense, tends to score goals by outrunning players.
Bio: After being the best Farf player on the Swamp Soccer WC 2, he was called by Ferdullaele FC and started playing on Farfadillis' first division, was loved by the fans (who already loved him because of his performance on the SSWC2) and was called for the national team, quickly replacing Bujkanovic. He's is an example of commitment. He had performed really well in Cednia Beach, where he'd played slightly out of position, before signing for Vilitan champions Jungle Strike and becoming the first Farf player to play in the Champions' Cup, along with Ichi Tuzzio, where he got to the semifinals as a starter. Probably recognized as the best Farf footballer after becoming an AO-All Star starter and a World XI starter. However, Tuzzio's got a strong case for the same title as he was a sub for the earlier and the best foreign player in the V-League as well as best midfielder. He's by far the fastest of the team, and as it's Farfadillis that's quite a feat. He's difficult to catch when he dribbles using his speed, and his technique is by no means bad, his crossing isprecise, his dribbling is very good and his shots are unstoppable. He's also very oportunistic and knows when to run and which direction to take, which makes his speed even more lethal than it would be alone. He's one of those players that's never nervous and that never gives up a ball. Scores a lot for a midfielder, but he's more of a winger as of late, despite defending as well, which he does in an overall average way.

RM:
Name:
Rancisc Tenian
Age: 21
Team: Gwinevra Barbarians (Apox)
Style: Playmaker, horrible at defending, sometimes scores directly from crosses
Bio: Tenian is one of the first Farf players to play abroad. He is an incredible playmaker. Matino decided to call him for the starting eleven over Minduruguatzel, and Rossizzo decided that this decision was very sensible so he kept him and even as a starter. Recently champion with Gwinevra Barbarians of the Apox National League twice, being a key player. Sometimes scores directly from crosses, regardless of difficulty. At first it was thought that it was just luck, but he's done it so many times now that people know he does it on purpose. He's basically a slower than average midfielder but one with a very good technique for passing and crossing, his dribbling might not be as remarkable, but it's still very good. His marking isn't good, just as Dandalleion but worse, but he makes up for it by not letting the ball go, ever. He's not one of those players that runs all around the pitch and so on, as he's not fast, as said, but he's good at knowing when to run to get the ball before someone else, at least.

CAM:
Name: Matí O'rosso
Age: 21
Team: Mardi Lopunnies (Northern Sunrise Islands)
Style: Fast-paced, agile, playmaker.
Bio: He's the centre of every attack and can assist from very difficult positions, coupled with Tuzzio, his duo companion. His weak point is dribbling, as he's used to pass the ball as soon as possible since he started playing football, but that doesn't make him a bad dribbler, just an above average one. He's very passive and never complains to the referee, never dives either. His free kicks are almost impossible to stop He's been underperforming lately, but he's been performing really well at Mardi Lopunnies, from Northern Sunrise Islands. Being champion and being the winner of the "Top Striker" award for the Heritage Cup, where his team lost in semifinals. He's been lacking his momentousness lately, but he might recover it this time, his assists are still there and his free kicks still go in, but the spark is missing and Farfadillis, despite still doing well, still doesn't manage to do as in WC61's Qualifiers, where they were 1 point away from the play-off spot, and it was arguably the best performance of the national team ever.

CAM:
Name: Ichi Tuzzio
Age: 19
Team: Makosile United (Vilita)
Style: Very good at shooting from long distances, excellent dribbler, agile, and good playmaker.
Bio: Ichi Tuzzio was originally born in Dodeni, Dandillis, but due to the fact that if you're born on Dandillis you get Farfadillis' nationality too (and viceversa), he plays for Farfadillis, because he hadn't played any official competition for Dandillis, just unofficial ones, among them the Campionato Esportiva, of which no-one has collected records about the Dandish team, luckily. He's demonstrated he's a hell of a player by shining last AOCAF and scoring no less than 3 goals against the hegemonists of Pacitalia, which the Farves somehow managed to defeat 3-1. He's the player most adversaries should fear when along with O'rosso, maybe along with Dandalleion. He signed his first contract with a foreigner team for Kiiarana City, Vilita. There, he'd played almost every game of the season, finally playing for a competent team. Has a strong case for best Farf player, currently facing Dandalleion for it, unofficially, obviously. However, they're both really good friends outside the team. He was a substitute for the AO-All Star team and the winner of 2 important Vilitan awards: Best Foreign Player and Best Midfielder. Somewhat short and thin, still very good at fighting and celebrates every Farf win by drinking. He's one of those players that could start a war between Farfadillis and Apox. Oh, wait, I'm spoiling it. First Farf to take part in the Champions' Cup along with Dandalleion.

ST:
Name:
Fermín Juárez
Age: 24
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Deadly finisher who knows how to move in his natural habitat: the box.
Bio: Fermín Juárez is part of this mainly because of how he played in the FFL last season, outperforming pretty much everyone. He's still pretty young and is expected to play really well, fits better in a more defensive formation but can easily adapt. Performed decently enough last CoH to keep his starting position, the trophy in the war between the many young Farf strikers. However, he can fall down to any of the others easily. Led Avenida Victoria to its first-ever Globe Cup Group Phase appearance. His moves inside the box are to be feared, as well as his shots which are lethal, specially on one-on-one situations. He has an eye for the ball and can easily predict where the ball us heading, much as if it was an instinct. His headers are very potent and he likes to score from corners, as he doesn't find it hard. He's very acrobatic as well so if anyone would be most likely to score a spectacular goal similar or exactly as an overhead kick, that'd be him.

Substitutes

GK:
Name: Joan Raguzzelli
Age: 21
Team: Koloko
Style: Experienced Goalkeeper.
Bio: Raguzzelli may be young, but he's experienced; Koloko is a mid-table team which almost never manages to get a good player from their youth system. However, they managed to form Raguzzelli, and gave him playing time since his debut at the age of 16. He's played more than 300 matches for Koloko, but he'll probably move to another team as Koloko are likely to get relegated once again. He's probably gonna be Lisdiren's shadow for a lot of time, but he's still very experienced and makes up for an excellent back-up in case of send-offs, injuries and others.

LB:
Name: Nomá Greffe
Age: 23
Team: Flying Jellyfish
Style: Fast thinking, Tactical Mastermind.
Bio: Nomá Greffe is a very interesting LB, he's a bit slow, but totally makes up for it by always knowing what the opponent's going to do. He's not very good at long passing, so he often tries to make the team play better by using short passing. After not being called for the national team for some time, he's returned. Still, he probably won't be trusted anymore after some very bad performances leading to 8-1 and 7-1 thrashings, which many Farves still remember with dislike.

RB:
Name: Cundo Nessi
Team: Flying Jellyfish
Age: 21
Style: Almost perfect tactically sepaking.
Bio: Nessi was born in Ruland, known as the "3rd world state", a state where almost everyone is living in poverty, and starving. He was one of those kids who didn't get an education because of it. However, he did play a lot of football and managed to be spotted by one of Flying Jellyfish's scout. He's almost perfect when it comes to tactics. Just Frêndê's back-up, but is flexible and may enter for anyone in the defense, or defesnsive midfield if they get injured/tired/on low-form/carded and Rossizzo foresees a red card. He was briefly the starter for the CoH, before he underperformed a bit and Farfadillis ended up last of its group. He's still a possible sub for matches that ask for a more defensive style, as both are really attacking, unlike Nessi.

LM:
Name: I7'imund Bujkanovic
Age: 32
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Fast, good on a defensive point of view.
Bio: I7imund is a fast midfielder, almost unstoppable on a long run. He's been the Best Farf Player of the year twice since his debút. His youth team was Tympú FC, but Ferdullaele FC bought him before he even debuted. Won't get much playing time, if any at all. He can still be decent when playing, but he hasn't got much time left in the team. He's been slowly losing his speed and might not have any real treats left now.

CDM:
Name: Américo Marino
Age: 32
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Very good at defending, good free kicks
Bio: Marino is currently in the last years of his career, but thta doesn't mean that Rossizzo can't call him up for the national team. He's a very good leader, inside and outside the pitch, and this national team needed a reference once and for all, they're all too young after all. He's a good back-up for Wanderis should anything happen, and better at attacking than Sereno, who couldn't join the squad due to a last minute injury. He's Avenida Victoria's captain and was one of the key players of the team that reached the Globe Cup knock-out stages, something without precedent.

ST:
Name:
Fabrifé Numbá
Age: 30
Team: Tympú AC
Style: Fast, precise striker.
Bio: An incredibly fast and very lethal finisher. Used to compete on athletism until, at the age of 16, his uncle persuaded him to compete on football instead, he did keep his athletic treats though, something easily noticeable. Currently plays on Tympú AC . He's returned to the national team after a break to care after his father, who recently died. He hasn't become the starter again yet, but he may in the future.

ST:
Name:
Yolo Fu
Age: 21
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Ideal Poacher.
Bio: After Numbá decided to retire from the national team for an undefined amount of time, Matino called Ferdullaele FC's current centerforward: Fu, a decision Rossizzo kept but sending him to the bench instead. He's the ideal poacher: exquisite heading, good finishing, good at reacting, good positioning and fast on short distances. He's demonstrated what he's worth, but the battle for being the starter against all other strikers will continue, he's been losing it up to now. He's not as acrobatic as Juárez and is a bit worse than him in some aspects, as well as not having the talent to foresee what can happen exactly, and isn't as good at dribbling as Johans, another one that can win back his position easily.

ST:
Name:
Neguimbelefra Fragreda
Age: 28
Team: Bafilo United (Slembana)
Style: Slow poacher.
Bio: Neguimbelefra is VERY slow, and often has troubles with the offside law, but he's a superb poacher and makes up for it completely. He lost his place on the starting eleven because of Ichi Tuzzio, Farfadillis' star now-a-days. He isn't getting any playing time with the national team lately, but he's the current top goalscorer in the Slembanan league. He's one of those players who you can predict not playing any minutes at all, or maybe just a few. However, you never know when Rossizzo can go completely crazy.

ST:
Name:
Septimus Johans
Age: 19
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Finisher, Awesome Dribbler and good crosser.
Bio: Septimus is one of Farfadillis' best strikers, currently, everyone has put their eyes on this young striker, being known for being "the perfect finisher". His dribbling and crossing are very good. As a lone striker, he's one that carries marks and goes to the flanks to cross the ball for the incoming midfielders, a tactic that without him on the pitch has changed now. It proved to be very effective back at WC61's Qualifyings, so Rossizzo might want to try him as a starter on some games, and he might keep that position if he does well.

ST:
Name:
Sê Mêrí
Age: 19
Team: Mont Blanc Club (Free Swiss States)
Style: Awesome at crossing and going down the flank. Problems with goalscoring, but really young.
Bio: Sê Mêrí is actually a left winger, but he can pull off pretty much any position on the attack. He's been playing really well at the Free Swiss States, so he might get some playing time. It all depends on how lucky he gets, though. Played a really good DBC, too. Didn't get much playing time but might as well get some in the near future. He's still too young and isn't a complete prodigy like Dandalleion and Tuzzio were back on the day.

ST:
Name:
Vasilije Østergård
Age: 18
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Playmaking striker. Precise shooting from anywhere. Excellent dribbling.
Bio: At the age of 18, Vasilije is this team's youngest player, as well as the most promising along with Ragnere, Daokō and Mêrí, all of them taken from the squad used last DBC. He's characterized for leaving his teammate attackers with best-case-scenario opportunities. His playmaking is often too much for defenders. He's extremely precise at shooting, often fetching the upper-corners with elegance. His dribbling is much better than average and he tends to administrate it well: just as much dribbling as needed to create an opportunity. Østergård became a starter with Flying Jellyfish last year, almost breaking a record for youngest player to make his first appearance. After this success, he was transferred to current FFL winners Avenida Victoria and played as a starter in replacement of the deceased Cris Bartoloměj, leading the team to a Globe Cup spot. Completely settled with Avenida Victoria, might settle soon with the national team, and seems like he could become the striker this WC Qualifyings. He saved Farfadillis with a last minute goal against Burchadinger that sent Farfadillis through to beat Pacitalia later on, in a match where he wasn't really important but played some time. Has shown some good performances so far, he'll have to keep them up.

Stadium

Farf Fragar Firschendujmal I7'snerra
Capacity: 150,000
In 1950 the FFFF decided that it was time to have an official stadium for the national team, they had used Tympú AC's stadium up to that moment. In the end they brought the resolution for the Federal Council to approve (back in that time, federations had to draft resolutions for the Federal Council, which would approve them or not).
The 20th of August of 1964, the Federal Council finally gave the FFFF the right to build the stadium, they even gave them a really huge piece of land that the state had, near Ferdullaele. On the 20th of November they presented the planes to the FM (Farf Municipality). After lots of inconveniences, the FFFF finally got to start building the stadium. They got the resources from selling diamonds from the diamond mine they had bought back in 1952, foresseing they would need money for the stadium and believing it was the best investment back then. The total cost of the stadium was of about F$100,000,000, back then, the stadium had 90,000 seats.

It would be upgraded to the monstrosity it is much afterwards, in the year 2004, when the amount of football fans grew substantially. Out of 300,000,000 people living in Ferdullaele, approximately 1,200,000 constantly tried to get tickets for Farfadillis' matches, back then playing only minor cups without being a recognized national team. That often made tickets really expensive and almost impossible to get, that's when the FFFF decided to upgrade the stadium to the gargantuan thing it is now. Now having the permission to do what they pleased, they gathered the money to upgrade it in approximately 5 years, they had started gathering it back in 1999. Donations were also needed, with the Farf population happily donating, statistics say that 1 out of 300 Farfs donated for it. The average of a donation was F$10 (approximately 15 dollars). This meant 15,000,000 dollars in donations plus all the money the FFFF had gathered from their mine. Soon, they had enough money to upgrade the stadium, they decided that the optimal number of new seats would be 60,000, effectively making the capacity 150,000. There's much controversy back then on what materials they were going to use, as they couldn't afford much more than pretty average materials, something that Farfs certainly didn't like. Finally, on the 25th of September of 2006, upgrading was over and the I7'snerra was now a juggrnautesque stadium it is now.

The 2nd of October of 2006, the renewed stadium would be inaugurated. It rained that day and there wasn't many people there, but it was a party regardless. The people were happy to have a bigger stadium, this would mean they would have to pay less to assist a Farf match and that they would have more possibilities of getting the tickets. The first match played on that stadium was a demonstration one, between past Farf stars. The teams were "Blue" and "Red", with Blue winning 7-4 on an epic match most Farfs will remember.
The Farf football team would later on sign up for the 60th edition of the World Cup, playing at the Farf I7'snerra officially for the first time. However, the result wasn't good for Farfadillis, they would lose against Darmen 2-1, in a match where both teams could've score more goals, but the posts denied almost every chance. Those qualifyings were a nightmare for Farfadillis, just as expected. Later on they would win their 1st match at the I7'snerra by a 1 goal margin against Tales, the goalscorer would be Matí O'rosso. This would be the only match Farfadillis would win that cycle. On World Cup 61, however, the team would fare really well at the I7'snerra, failing to score only once and losing only once against Cassadaigua, sadly, they lost 8-1 that game, a record. The team would only draw two games at the I7'snerra, lose one and winning five.
The I7'snerra, for short, is Farfadillis' biggest stadium, it can hold up to 150,000 people and is home to the national team. However, the I7'snerra's size backfires in security. The I7'snerra is a good place for hooligans and they do happen to frequent it a lot and the Federal Council just ignores it all the time, as well as the FFFF. So, expect a few shots to be heard ocasionally. Also, the I7'snerra is the second building in the "Top 10 least safe Farf structures" rankings. So, well, your people may fear going into it. Still, it's so big that it can even be considered a tourist attraction, so do consider visiting it for a match or two as a tourist.

Squeaky scampered into Hooktooth's den, he was out of breath and appeared to have been running for quite some time. Hooktooth looked curiously at him, it was not particularly good manners to burst into someone else's den without at least an announcement yelp. After a few seconds of recouperation, Squeaky spoke.

"Sir, I've just heard some terrible news
An Audioslavian expressing some views
At first nothing was wrong
But then a short vulgar song
Our language, you think he sought to abuse?"

Audioslavia wrote:You are my Starblayde, Tiberius Starblayde
He lived in a whorehouse in old Legalese
The hookers escaped and
Fled north to a wasteland
And there they founded Jhanna City

"Kø'āq"

Rolling his eyes, Hooktooth spat the word out.
(Kø'āq, pronounced Ku-ark, originally meant seagull but as seagulls are far from the pteronurians favourite animal with their fish-stealing tendencies, Kø'āq is now used as a mild pejorative term.)

Nodding appreciatively to Squeaky, he took a scruffy piece of scrap paper from a drawer and solemnly wrote himself a memo in both Paradystopi and Pteronurian.

should we face the Audioslavians, give them no fish.
