How do you intend to choose the team? The performances will all be based on rp, so its very difficult to make a judgement on who played the best in a tournament.

I believe as many people have done before i will look to see who has been rped to do really good and who other people thinkshould be on the team. I think it will be who effects their team overall, who makes their team good from the team makers eye and who many people would think is good. It would be like the world XI based on what people write, but also based on what standards any all star team in any league anywhere need to be. a good player, a good sport, and a overall positive effect on the rest of the team members. Since rp will be a big factor i will look at what hosts recommend (if they want to and feel like it) and what other players and valuable Cup leaders think. We could also make it kindoff a WCC thing if people wanted it to be fiar. As i say in the officla roster thread or whatever you want to call it anyone can use it and put forth stuff. (but no changing of Passwords and criminal behavior)

Everything I Start has been considered a bad idea i believe. It may of course be a bad idea, as stated i am just trying to come up with something that people may or may not like. It is unlikely though that i will give up as fast as i have done before, and Some Alan Belmore is not even around and yes their may have to be a few countries that usually get more players in because last time i checked the world cupwas usually dominated every year by about 20 or so of the same teams and the next few just seem to interchange through the tournaments.

I don't know if it needs its own thread, but if you wanted to include your own all-star teams in World Cup RPs, there wouldn't be a problem with that. Any all-star team is going to be somewhat subjective regardless of how much input there is. We've had World Bowl RPs take that theme and run with it, so I'd just say it's probably best to do it that way.

I created its own thread because then i can see others input before i decide, and so i could keep a historical list in the other one.

All-Star teams from the World Cup can be fun, and if you do an All-Time team it can be great nostalgia.

There's only one teensy problem, which is that you end up with a 0-0-10 formation because the only real stars are the strikers :D If you can get round that, it's a fun idea to discuss, sure!

Nah you can have star keepers and midfielders (although they aren't as common), but defenders are usually left out in the cold.

Having done this for fun many times over the years on IRC, the famous/memorable ones are all forwards of one description or another, and the desire to get as many famous names in there usuall ends up with a 3-2-5 formation, or similar.

Most of Jeruselem star players are midfielders, with a few defenders and a few strikers. And then there's my midfielders who become strikers.

This has the potential to be a fun RP or thread if it's done right.

Perhaps you could post your picks for all stars and then have people from other media outlets pick their choices. Then you could have a combined all star team.

The potential for RPs to discuss snubs, players who don't deserve to be there, etc. is great. I used such inspiration when I had my third baseman suspended for the first three matches of the World Baseball Classic. I figured it was better than simply doing match reports to have some kind of underlying drama that almost overshadowed the team itself.

If there is to be an all-star team each World Cup, I think the hosts should decide its make-up.
