Also, are we going to have a sponsorship mechanic in-game? I think it would be worth it, but it may crud up a bunch of stuff.

Sponsorship is a good idea. It will have to be limited to three corporations and three private citizens from each participating region, but I don't see why it can't be done.

I guess these tributes would come regions because that would make the most sense. Also if anyone has read the Divergent trilogy by Victoria Roth which third book isn't out yet since I am in the middle the second book Insurgent. It would make for interesting roleplay also.

Also there are the gamemakers which I thought about to and possibility rotating the control from region from year to year perhaps a possible idea I am leaning towards that decides the landscape of the arena. But I don't want see the gamemakers to cheat for their regions tributes that are in the Hunger Games either.

I think if we hold it in a neutral territory (essentially a country who isn't having participants), that should minimize the chance of fraud.

Where this goes would really depend on what you are looking to do. It could be scorinated if someone developed one or if there is a Hunger Games scorinator out there (which I doubt). If you are not looking to scorinate this, P2TM. I have participated in one or two Hunger Games RPs on there before. However, the tributes would be coming from Panem if this were hosted on P2TM. Not Vaugania, in my case.

So each nation would send two tributes?
I am all up for Hunger Games.

How about varying tech levels like it's put in the books, where DIstrict 1 has the best comforts of living while District 13 has the worst.

Yeah that would interesting but it probably work better just have tributes be sent from regions. Unless we work out 13 districts perhaps we put regions into different districts thus more tributes could be entered which be a slight retweaking like it is in the Hunger Games to adapt it to work in NS well. The tributes from regions is probably the best idea to go with in my opinion.

Here's the big problem. You just suggested dividing all 14,071 regions on NS into 13 districts. A bigger complication arises when regions then have to decide who gets to send a tribute from their region.

Well here's how it would work. You'd have each nation representing a district of some sort. Either 13 or 26 nations as a startup would be good if you want to keep it close to the books. You can't do it by regions, because restricting (to take myself as an example) Atlantian Oceania to submitting just one nation from its register of more than a hundred, just would not work at all.

No, I meant to say that each NATION sends two tributes, rather than each region.

Another alternative is that we have several Hunger Games.

You could have the 12 or 24 nations sign up, first come first serve?

The reason I wanted to do the region as opposed to nation idea is because I hope that once I get this started and oversee this first Hunger Games, then it will become a staple of NS, and each year a different nation will oversee it. Plus, as there aren't many regions with less than 5 nations within them, it would allow each region to select from those nations that haven't participated yet, and continue that way until all the nations have participated, then start the process over again.

Aww, you make honor me too much

The question will be though, will we have non-lethal combat (shock mauls, tasers, etc.) or will it be a pure battle royale? I'd imagine we'd have to send teenage criminals for the later as I don't think randomly selecting two teens to die would go down very well.

Totally lethal. where the fun if its not.
I would be willing to host the event.
What Tech would this be?

You kidding? Televised ritual combat to the death is already Falcania's #1 spectator sport!

I think we should keep it at basic tech levels - melee weapons and bows (crossbows maybe).

A simple crossbow is near enough to a shortbow nailed to a stick.

Hunger games

Postby The kingdom of daiwa and freeland » Tue Jan 22, 2013 7:24 pm

Good idea on the basic tech, but maybe it would be more entertaining if you threw a few assault rifles in the weapon pile (ooc: i'm refraining from calling it a cornucopia cuz i don't wanna be sued for copyright lol). People would struggle to get the modern tech, and it would be more interesting, almost like if cavemen were to fight against special ops soldiers from the future.... My nation has arms companies that would be glad to sponsor the games if you need sponsors....

The main problem is that its way too easy to kill 23 contestants via spray-and-pray by giving them a modern weapon or two. I think such an idea would work if we didn't have 24 contestants - ie, more than 12 nations at a time - but I think to level out the playing field I'd give a few revolvers instead.

I think heritage should be a part. Falcanian competitors would fight with fists, claws, or the ancestral weapon of the Falcon Kings, the Carak. It's like a machete, but pointier. Also their beaks. Wings. Harsh language. Sure, they could use guns, but that would take the fun out of it - and the whole point is that it is a spectacle.

There could be a group of weapons specific to each nation.

Honor blades, scimitars, etc. sound good to me.

Also, national tokens, like in the book, I think should also be implimented. Unlike the book, dirty tricks though could be allowed - hiding a spike in a ring, for example.
