Maximus Arena

Postby Setinel » Tue Jan 08, 2013 1:21 pm

I'm going to make one thing clear now, this is a TRIAL ERROR ATTEMPT. No telling me I should stop.

Anyways in Maximus arena you will train 12-21 year old criminals to fight to the death. If they win 15 battles they become citizens of setinel. So send in your 3 criminals age and name and leave the rest to us! Only 4 country's may enter!

This is not an athletic event. It has been requested that this thread be moved to another sub-forum.

Since when was Organized Stage-Fighting not an athletic event? You're training to become a fighter, thus presenting your skills in the midst of an audience - for a prize.

1. He has little to no details about how he will run this event.

2. He's tried this thread before, and was met with equal disinterest among the NS community.

3. I believe he was asked before to move that previous thread to NationStates.

4. Any thread that starts with the OP wishing to talk to himself one post in isn't going to last long.

1. 'you will train 12-21 year old criminals to fight to the death. If they win 15 battles they become citizens of setinel.'. It may be a small amount, but they exist.

2. That isn't the point. I'm speaking out against the fact that this is a Sports Event.

3. To what section, exactly? GE&T? Oh, no, you said NationStates. 'Where nations come together and discuss matters of varying degrees of importance. [In-character]'. I believe the description doesn't fit the profile of this thread. No other Forum sponsors Sports except NS Sports.

4. Again. I don't care how he presents himself among the NS community. That isn't relevant to the main idea of the thread.

Like I said in #2. I don't care how much traffic this thread gets, or how lame (or great) the idea is. This thread does belong in the NS Sports section - unless the mod's get involved and say so. In which case I have no control over. I'm merely speaking my opinion here, not trolling.

EDIT: To extend my point, the 'sport' he intends to present is most directly in relation to 'Gladiator Combat'.

A gladiator (Latin: gladiator, "swordsman", from gladius, "sword") was an armed combatant who entertained audiences in the Roman Republic and Roman Empire in violent confrontations with other gladiators, wild animals, and condemned criminals. Some gladiators were volunteers who risked their legal and social standing and their lives by appearing in the arena. Most were despised as slaves, schooled under harsh conditions, socially marginalized, and segregated even in death.

Irrespective of their origin, gladiators offered spectators an example of Rome's martial ethics and, in fighting or dying well, they could inspire admiration and popular acclaim. They were celebrated in high and low art, and their value as entertainers was commemorated in precious and commonplace objects throughout the Roman world.

Victors received the palm branch and an award from the editor. An outstanding fighter might receive a laurel crown and money from an appreciative crowd but for anyone originally condemned ad ludum the greatest reward was manumission (i.e., emancipation), symbolised by the gift of a wooden training sword or staff (rudis) from the editor.

'The earliest named gladiator school (singular: ludus; plural: ludi) is that of Aurelius Scaurus at Capua – he was lanista of the gladiators employed by the state circa 105 BCE to instruct the legions and simultaneously entertain the public.'

The event is held at 4:00 each Saturday night. The fights are the current champion against a starter. Starter wins he has to win 14 more. Victor wins he must get the last wins and he's home free. It's that simple. And second this is a sort. A bloody one but a sport. Sounds like no ones sighned up still either. So still remember THIS is a TRIAL ERROR EVENT.

I'm not 100% sure how it will be scorinated. Time and strategy are likely to be elements. Maybe a score 1-10? Like I said trial error attempt.

It will be scored by time style strategy and an overall 1-10

That's not a scorinator. I'll direct you to the guide to sports roleplaying, stickied third on the page.

Look I said this is a trial error attempt so please don't recommend to me. I'm trying this out for future notes on another possible gladiator arena.

If you say it's trial and error, that means you're looking for assistance (in a trial held by others) for sorting out your errors. In addition, please calm down. I'm just trying to help out here.
