This is the provisional list of posts which I was going to include:

1: Football/Soccer
2: American Football/Gridiron
3: Baseball
4: Ice Hockey
5: Rugby (all codes)
6: Motorsports
7: Multi-event sports
8: Cricket
9: Other sports

Any other sports that should be on the list as a separate post, or are there any sports on that list which should have a separate post? (I'm such I've embarassingly left out one major sport from that lot)

I don't know whether basketball has enough events, but that could deserve its own post.

And the Maklohi Vai Baseball Tournament, mentioned earlier in this thread, has not been added yet. No worries on timing, just a reminder.

Basketball has had more tournaments than cricket, FWIW, although only a few events compare to the intricacies of a Test season. Tennis has had a following, but I'm not sure how many events. Possibly a Minor football codes post (Australian, Babbage, Canadian, community, Gaelic, inter rules, Aleprennian [sp?]) which should run over 20 events easily. But Apox's list is also fine as it stands.

Ah, yes basketball, that would be the forgotten one. That'll probably make it onto the list along with the minor codes.

1) The title is a bit of a paradox now. "The Complete History of Modern NSSports". Is it a complete history? Or a modern history? If its only modern NSSports, then its not complete. I understand the technicality of it being the complete history OF the modern, but I think the word "Complete" gives the wrong impression as its certainly not going to really be "complete"

2) If there is going to be a nation called "NS Sports History" maintaining the thread, then, since its still young, the current thread should be abandoned and reposted with this new nation such that it can be shared by multiple users if needed in the future.

1) It will be changed to "The History of Modern NSSport"

2) The first two posts will become merely placeholders, with the starting message in the first post, and the second post containing the contents.

[EDIT] - Change of heart, that makes sense I'll change it so all the posts are NS Sport History. However, I'll do it tomorrow as I've got stuff on tonight

There's no paradox, and the old wording gives the correct impression, as you spelled out in the first clause of the last sentence here.

Fair enough. "Toward a Complete History..." could be an option, but I realize most people don't write like that anymore...

Thought it might be, that will be edited accordingly when I go through this thread to correct mistakes/add in new articles once I've done an initial sort.

Apologies for the delay (I'm a little preoccupied in RL), but I'm going to go and edit the stickies so that there's a link to the (new version of) Apox's thread in the next 5-10 minutes.

Here’s all the major (and some not-so-major) competitions from the IDSNW thread.

You’ll need another post or two. :P

A majestic work I have to say! Not trying to discourage here - you're doing an incredibly good job in making this - but I doubt that the "Complete History" will ever be complete. Apox, I challenge you to find the thread for World Cup 1!

Except that it has already been stated that this history is limited to the current forums, and World Cup 1 happened nigh on ten years (and three forum boards) ago. This intervention of yours, your first-ever post in this NS Sport forum, was not necessary and quite unhelpful. Doing some research of your own would've been welcome, rather than jumping straight in and making yourself look silly.

As the only person left around here who participated in WC1 (and hosted WC2), I can confirm that regrettably this won't be possible.

LE, with respect, this is precisely the type of post that's gained you a reputation for being prickly and unhelpful towards newbies.

While largely factually accurate, it's a perfect example of how you sometimes struggle with tone.
