Mightily impressive. I seem to remember Jeruselem having a similar thread on the Jolt forum that always proved useful.

Just a couple of typos I noticed.

29/09/09 - There's no number next to the Cup of Harmony. It's #40.
25/03/10 – It's listed as Cup of Harmony 41 but should be 42.
Champions: Cup of Harmony 41 / Di Bradini Cup 13 / Copa Rushmori V / Copa Rushmori XIV / Copa Rushmori XX / Copa Rushmori XXXVIII / Copa Rushmori XXXIX

This is awesome work. I do have one question though: what is your aim for the project. Are you just loooking to make all of the competitions easily accessible for people when they need to do research, or are you looking to get something else out of it?

In terms of corrections, the Abdian Track and Field Invitational was only half finished when ABK abandoned further scorination. Also, the New Guiana Softball Invite, should be the West Guiana Softball Invite.

I think it was more so that it is easy for people to research, and just quite nice to look at and convenient to have everything in one place.

An interesting point.

It's certainly an exceptionally useful resource for the entire community.

There are two potential ways forward here:

1) Sticky - which I'm slightly cautious about since I don't want to overload the first page with stickies.

2) An edit to the Guide to Sports Roleplaying sticky so that after "Can I see what some of this looks like?", I add a bolded new category called "Say, there's been a lot of sports events here - is there anywhere I can go to get a sense of NS Sports history?". That would then include a link to Apox's thread.

I'm currently inclined to number 2, but am willing to canvas opinions here.

I find that number 2 sounds more appropriate, since I also feel cautious about cluttering the sub-forum.

I'm with the overwhelming majority in saying we need to have this thread permanently linked in a prominent way, but without being a sticky that could be seen as unneeded. #2 would get my favoring.

While I'm fairly ambivalent on the issue, I wonder just how prominent it would be in the Guide to Roleplaying thread, obviously it wouldn't be that high up in the thread as other things, I was just wondering where it would go in the thread.

I'm just desperate not to let it sink down the pages having put so much effort into it.

It'd be nice to see you expand on your opinion, especially considering that there's been no other voiced support for the first option. Otherwise, there's pretty much no reason to consider your opinion.

It would get its own separate bold font category in the Guide, and you would get full credit for initiating the thread.

It would come directly after "Can I see what some of this looks like?"

So would it come right at the top? No.

But would it have more prominence than almost any other community member's independently initiated project? Yes.

And it likely deserves as much.

I think a sticky is most appropriate. There are, what, 2 stickies in this subforum? Considering NS Sports is like the least tragic place for a different thread to slip off the first page, while it would suck to see this reference slip into some degree of relative obscurity, to me the Cost-Benefit Analysis leans strongly towards the sticky option. Almost nothing is lost, but a significant risk is averted. We all know that the newbies don't read the existing stickies as much as we'd like them to, but seeing the history thread right off the bat might prevent another spate of 'World Cup of ...' type threads, as have recently reared their ugly heads.

(TBI here under an assumed name.)

I'm an option 2 guy. Link it from the Guide for now. As Apox gets a chance to clean it up, indexing it (as he clearly plans to do) and adding in the events missed in the early going, then consider a sticky.

I don't think this needs to be stickyed, but it should certainly be linked from the OP of one (or more) of our current stickies.

I'm inclined to agree. Until it's finished, it should definitely be linked to, but a sticky isn't the best idea for an incomplete index, IMHO.

Ok, so what is the consensus on indvidual sports having their own posts?

This is the provisional list of posts which I was going to include:

1: Football/Soccer
2: American Football/Gridiron
3: Baseball
4: Ice Hockey
5: Rugby (all codes)
6: Motorsports
7: Multi-event sports
8: Cricket
9: Other sports

Any other sports that should be on the list as a separate post, or are there any sports on that list which should have a separate post? (I'm such I've embarassingly left out one major sport from that lot)
