Cuppet 4 National Information

Postby Wight » Sat Nov 24, 2012 3:12 pm

Wight Information

The small volcanic island archipelago of Wight in AO is in fact an approximate scale copy – or interpretation might be a better word – of the Uncertain Dimensions in which Búa lives. Before a catastrophic earthquake destroyed much of the land and sculpted out new dramatic features, the empty landmass of Köselî Cumhuriyetler was once home to a turkish empire, since gone to dust. Locals often refer to this version of Wight as Simulacra or The Broken Islands.

The country is governed by a benevolent dictator, Jean Baptiste, recently elected by a 100% margin with no opposition candidates and a 0.001% voter turnout. The election flyers didn't arrive back from the printers in time to let the public know there was going to be an election, so only the printer and a couple of his employees actually voted.

The population of the archipelago is recorded at 230,023. Most of the mountainous and volcanic interior of the main Wightling landmass is unpopulated apart from the town of Campus and several small hamlets. 97% of the population live on the coast and surrounding islands. The capital Spit is the only designated city, with a population of around 50,000 or nearly a quarter of the entire population.

Wight recently struck a strategic alliance with one of the region's superpowers, giving over a large area of land on the southerly island of Wath to the military forces of Andossa Se Mitrin Vega, in exchange for a peppercorn per year in perpetuity as rent and vigorous defence of the islands in times of conflict. ASMV is presently constructing facilities for a large combined forces base including harbour, fortified town and airstrip.

Image

Wight has a long and proud tradition of being enthusiastic but not very good at football, although in recent years, back-to-back semi-final appearances in the AOCAF championships, two Cup of Harmony semi-finals and now a first World Cup qualification campaign suggests the Wightlings may be breaking from that tradition. A young crop of bright young things recently won the controversial Under-15 World Championships in Farfadillis. Football is still strictly amateur in the broken islands. Wight puppet nations have a proud association with the Cuppet, with one or other appearing in all three semi-final stages and two finals so far. Zenega was winner of the second edition, while Sixteen Bits was semi-finalist at the first two Cuppets and runner-up last time.

Stadia

Being a small nation only just getting on top of the clean-up of the devastating Wight Catastrophe, and playing amateur football, most stadia are on the modest side, to say the least. Only the Tricorn Arena, the national stadium built for hosting a number of Turori's Cup of Harmony 53 matches, was approaching international standard prior to Wight's hosting of Cup of Harmony 54 with New Montreal States. Fans fearing trips to the bleak and remote stadia featured in the recent Brevity Challenge Cup, which have been described as 'interesting', 'minimal', & 'bleak and remote', may get lucky. In an emergency building plan, a number of new permanent and temporary stadia were constructed. Having that bunch of temporary stadia still standing at the end of the Cup of Harmony, it seemed the perfect time for the nation which has a close affinity for the Cuppet to bring it back to an appreciative local audience. But with so many more teams in the Cuppet, some of the old stadia will still be pressed into action, which means some unfortunate fans will have the delight of the more 'interesting', 'minimal', & 'bleak and remote' facilites.

Matches are likely to be well attended by the locals, so it will be common for the capacities to be reached.

SOUTH LAWN, in Spit
Capacity 45,310
NORTH LAWN, in Spit
Capacity 38,422
Image
The impressive twin stadia of Spit Lawns, built on the site of the old Spit Leisure Centre or the Lezzy, as it was known, is in the Looe district of the city. This is being lauded as the finest and most reliable construction project in the Broken Islands short history. A pair of stadiums side by side, it is felt the South Arena will likely become the national stadium, while the North Arena may well become the third home of Spit City. Looe Sewage Works FC and Penchant Wanderers, made homeless with this construction, are expected to relocate to the Tricorn Arena.

TRICORN ARENA, in Spit
Home of Spit City
Capacity 43,023
Image
Built by infamously drab Polarian architect Jens Christiansen, two additional jerry-rigged temporary stands for 18,000 additional spectators will almost double the usual capacity of the stadium. A smaller 8,000 version was burned down by Kinitarian fans during Cup of Harmony 53, but builders have assured the NSWC committee that the current additions are flame retardant. The Tricorn Arena is in the Penchant district of Spit.

THE MAUSOLEUM, in Spit
Capacity 32,908
Image
Named for the giant stadium up in Old Wight, where two million and twenty three dead souls could pack the stands to watch Wight play home matches back in the Uncertain Dimensions, before the team moved to the more material AO version of Wight. The new Mausoleum is a rather more modest affair, a wooden construction on the harbourside in Spit. In the foreground of this artists impression of the currently-under-construction stadium, we can see the aft of the historic Wightling Armada Ship-of-the-Line (ASL) Draw. The post-Cup of Harmony plans for this building remain unclear, though a museum is thought the most likely possibility.

THE RAMPARTS, in Spit
A temporary stadium
Capacity 26,751
Image
One of three temporary stadia for the Cup of Harmony tournament, The Ramparts are built under the walls of Spit Fort, a granite reconstruction of Búa's palace in Wight Spit, in the Uncertain Dimensions. Here we see an image of the stadium under construction, with one end stand still to be erected and the pitch to be laid. Rumours that the stadium is too confined to fit a legal sized football pitched within are hotly denied by the organisers.

MULTITUDINOUS ARENA, in Despite
A temporary stadium
Capacity 34,095
Image
Local team Despite Palace were rather hoping to gain a brand new stadium out of the Cup of Harmony hosting, but were disappointed when the municipal council refused planning permission for anything but a temporary stadium in the town. Covered by large plastic sheeting, this bolt-together ground can be erected or dismantled in a fortnight.

THE CANVASDOME, in Icke
Temporary structure, future home of Icke Town Turques
Capacity 26,414
Image
Despite having a tidy ground of their own in Icke with a decent capacity by Wightling standards, the Turques have already agreed to occupy the Canvasdome after the Cup of Harmony. A greenwood spar structure, covered, unsurprisingly, by canvas, this temporary stadium could potentially last 30 years although it will have to be re-covered every two.

THIN AIR STADIUM, in Pompeii
Home of AFC Portsmouth
Capacity 33,856
Image
The only permanent new stadium outside of the capital, financially mismanaged AFC Portsmouth will be delighted that a brand new stadium has been built for them by the Wightling Cup of Harmony committee. The rent will be one peppercorn per year in perpetuity, though critics of the club claim they will probably manage to default even on that. The origin of the name of the stadium remains a mystery although many claim it is the only way the club could build a new home, by magicking it out of thin air.

MUNICIPAL SPORTS CENTRE, in Despite
Home of Despite Palace & Azarbaycan FC
Capacity 12,908
Image
Before the recent construction programme this was the largest stadium in the country, hosting the town's two league teams. The view here is the smaller north stand, with the Despite hills behind.

BAFFINS POND, in Pompeii
Home of Moneyfields
Capacity 6,751
Image
Overlooking the natural harbour of Baffins Pond, the stadium of the same name has a large natural embankment to one side and conservative estimates put the potential capacity at 20,000 if there are enough intrepid climbers sufficiently enthused.

CONSTANTINOPLE CRESCENT COMMUNITY COMPLEX, in Iskander, South Wath
Home of Iskander Turkish Memorial
Capacity 7,682
Image
With a mix of constructed seating areas and grass banks that surround three sides of the ground, this will be the base for ASMV as authorities look to cash in on the military forces from nearby Sa Tu'urk militarised zone.

THE EXERCISE YARD, on Le Tissier Island
Home of FC.60 Le Tissier Penal Colony
Capacity 6,718
Image
Unremittingly bleak, the prison island that houses the sinners of Wight (usually incarcerated for being bored, or ordinary, or sanctimonious, or behaving like an elf) is home to the best team in the broken islands. But it's miserable to play here, with only the prisoners for company.

GIANT'S WELL, in Inferno, Dante Archipelago
Home of Lucifero FC
Capacity 9,209 (some restricted views)
Image
There is no getting away from it, Giant's Well is a hole in the ground. Spectators view from balconies, cave windows, and around the top of the hole. It get's rather packed, the atmosphere is tremendous, but the pitch is permanently in a terrible condition, a bit like the San Siro.

Anxgâr Roster for Cuppet 4

Image

(Please bear in mind that Anxgârs are dwarves, however, the goalkeeper is one of the biggest Anxgârs, he's 170cm tall.)

(Position: Name, Age)

GK: Zô Moxý, 29
LB: Xôxô Onxoâ, 24
CB: Mýamazû Gôzoxô, 32 [C]
CB: Mûzýixan Xýô, 27
CB: Xôxô Muxýtâ, 20
RB: Dâz Mâxuteý, 20
LM: Xûxamýê Dôzoxomaý, 19
CM: Mû Zô, 29
CM: Zô Zmxýta, 29
RM: Ýâ Môzoxô, 27
ST: Vâl Kýlx, 20

Substitutes aren't needed as Anxgârs can heal any injury instantly.

The Star

Vâl Kýlx

Yep, Vâl Kýlx is up for his first tournament. He is by far the best player. Many foreigners might mock Vâl for scoring oodles of late goals, and hitting the other players a lot. But they don’t know the real Vâl – a great young goalscorer who scores many great long-range efforts. Vâl has won the award for “Anxgâr player of the year” twenty-one years in a row, one as a fetus. Everyone around him seems to say he's the best at everything and everyone he knows gets mad when he's mocked, something unusual, but that's just how good this player is. Or maybe the godmodding got out of hand.

Do anything, just don't kill Vâl Kýlx or Zô Moxý, can't guarantee you they won't revive. Also, if you godmod, I godmod. Pretty simple.

"Those damnable goats" finally got their damn independence from the tyrannical "democracy" of Karditan. Now residing in their new position just south of fellow Catholic dictatorship Valcouria in the scenicly barren Alliance of Dictators, Ibex has refocused its efforts on properly subduing the populace. Unfortunately, the Zebrabwen Revolution still rages in Hong Prong, and Ibex's special forces units are still wrapped up in trying to figure out why the nation of Tsuaruvia mysteriously disappeared beneath a creepy magikal barrier. Regardless, the Emporor still made sure to send out the national football team, this time to Wight, to participate in the prestigious Cuppet.

Eriiki National Football Team

Eriiksalvia is a tiny island over 1000 miles away from Svenga mainland. It is ruled by Helsingborg, but the local government, based in the only major town, Srajkdau, have a lot of control. The last census clocked the population at 117,621, spread over four towns and 16 villages.

Sport is relitavely minor and unimportant in Eriiksalvia, as the weather is too inhospitable for it. However, a small indoor football league has been set up in Srajkdau. Because a national football team had never been established, trials were done to establish the best footballers in the country. Three players who were legible to play play in the Svenga Pro Division 2, and thus got automatic selection into the final 18 squad.

After three months of gruelling trials, it was whittled down to just 30 players into two teams. They would play two trial matches just two weeks before the start of the Cuppet. The line-ups for the teams are as follows:

National Trialists 1:

GK: Jurgën Wehnstørm (26 y/o)
RB: Wilm Robenn (31 y/o) (C)
CB: Yeskin Nalav (23 y/o)
CB: Dmitriy Trond (26 y/o)
LB: Jartē Skolmē (19 y/o)
DM: Frei Stensen (23 y/o)
RM: Grig Suntaklas (32 y/o)
CM: Davik Iri (26 y/o)
LM: Morst Kyuna (19 y/o)
AM: Robeń Komderr (20 y/o)
ST: Tamas Selver (25 y/o)
ST: Veni Avëlëainen (19 y/o)

Subs:

GK: Maarst Zasha (31 y/o)

Barra e Janeiro was one of the first nations to appear at Emirates of Futurnia. Formerly part of Brazil, this small portion of land seceeded and moved from their old lands after the Civil War of 2020, in which other two territories, Union de Sud and Saint Pauli left in the same manner. A rich and decently powerful country, Barra e Janeiro used to be the Mesoregion of Rio de Janeiro and after the seccession, it became an economical powerhouse.

Barra e Janeiro's football scene is less developed than most countries, still relying in the same practices of the old days. The biggest teams are the Giant 4: Fluminense, Flamengo, Botafogo and Vasco da Gama, while others such as Madureira, Bangu, América, Tigres and Duque de Caxias are of considerable strength.

Barra e Janeiro decided to participate of the Cuppet in order to achieve strength in the sports scene.

COACH
Image
Barra e Janeiro decided to appoint Frederico Guerra as their coach. A talented coach, he has been the responsible for not only getting the title for Fluminense, but to save Duque de Caxias from relegation. Known for his antics against players that don't want to pay respect to him, Guerra is definently not taking any worries about their opponents and don't expect his team to play greatly. Style: +0,5

RP PERMISSIONS
Don't kill them. The rest is OK, except for Red Cards, who have to be TGed before done.

La Selección Aquilliana :: World Cuppet 4

Manager: Alfredo Herrera (65 y/o)
Assistant Manager: Sergio Galindo (61 y/o)
Captain: Lemuel Tremblay
Vice-captain: Ramirez Rincon
Style of play: Very attacking. High line of pressure, with regular overloads on the flanks (+3)

RP note
The style of play, selection process and manager are all based -- with varying degrees of "looseness" -- on those of Athletic Bilbao, if that helps at all. Also, the team's focal point -- for good or bad reasons, varyingly -- is mercurial genius Alejandro Palacios. For a real life example, think of him as a sort of cross between Juan Roman Riquelme (style of play) and Mario Balotelli (for off-field crazy), but less extreme on either part (i.e. he's neither that good nor that crazy).

RP notes
I have no specific permissions regarding the team beyond "no killing, please" ... and though I'd prefer if you cleared a major injury beforehand, I can roll with it. Do as you wish, otherwise. If it helps, Aquillian is a largely conservative, somewhat-religious nation with a lingering resentment for Osarius. If you want a RL reference point, it is literally a cultural, social and political mélange of Mexico and Jamaica.
President: Horace Daley | Population: ~24 million | Capital: Genesia, Centrale

A moderately conservative, somewhat-religious nation with a lingering resentment for Osarius, their former colonial oppressors.
If you want a RL reference point, this nation is supposed to be a cultural, social and political mélange of Mexico and Jamaica.

I will sometimes RP in an approximation of Jamaican Patois. Apologies in advance ;)

The Urszag-Csatoria Tanácsadók is delighted to announce the team to make glorious the great and all-powerful Unified Csardom of Urszag-Csatoria! Straight from the LSUC comes the announcement of the players that will risk their lives for the Csardom on the field of battle, heroes one and all. In events not at all suspicious, the last team were all killed in a mine explosion after volunteering to work with the people that had supported them on their return from the last tournament empty handed. A completely new team has been sent in their place.

All of them are proud and loyal citizens, even more proud and loyal than the last team, and they have all put aside the partizan differences of their club careers to work together for the common goal of supporting the nation in international competition for the second time! They will of course be guarded closely by members of the NIT at all times, and will carry with them their membership cards for the Socialist Workers' Party of Urszag-Csatoria. Workers across the nation are to be granted time allowances off from work in a bid to boost productivity when they return to work, hearts stirred and buoyed by the performances of our brave boys in white, green, and red.

The Football Commission of Aels has never had a full national team. All Aelsh professionals are eligible to represent Ancharmunn in the Copa Rushmori and World Cup tournaments, with the highest level of international football in Aels being under-21 level. While the FCA has not run an under-21 side for a few years now, it still sends an under-20 squad to the Rushmori age group tournaments every other year.

Having received word that the fourth Cuppet tournament was inviting entries, Pentref-ar-y-Bae manager Cameron Walsh — a five-time Aelsh Premier League champion — decided to approach the FCA for permission to enter an Aelsh national team in the tournament, which is not fully recognised at international level.

However, because the FCA still maintains its agreement with the Charmunnry National Soccer Board over the selection of Aelsh nationals for the Charmunnry national side, it refused to give Walsh permission to manage an Aelsh "national team".

As a result, Walsh was forced to compromise and suggested the FCA endorse and give permission for – but not support financially – a side to be entered under the team name "Aels Representative XI", to indicate the players are merely representing the country at the tournament but should not be considered a national side.

Additionally, fearful of its relations with its western counterparts, the FCA refused to sanction the selection of any Aelsh players who have been capped at international level for Ancharmunn, ruling out Aels' biggest names Elwyn Richard and Alun Jenkins.

Therefore, Walsh has selected a team of 21 from players playing in the Aelsh Premier League and Second League but who have not been called to represent Ancharmunn. These players will not be 'capped' and, upon FCA orders, can not say they played for the Aels national team (but can say they represented an Aelsh team, which former under-21 and under-17 players already can). Additionally, none of the players selected play club football for Dinas Drefhil, an Aelsh club playing in the Charmunnry league.

This is the first side representing Aels in a full senior international tournament to be made up of professionals.

Aels Representative Team squad list
Players are given squad numbers according to their position, with no names on jerseys. That is to say, players awarded squad numbers #1 through #11 are most likely to start; #12 through #18 most likely to be on the bench, and #19 through #23 most likely to be reserves.

There are eighteen states in the Federation, and not one of them doesn't have a nationalist/secessionist party movement of some sort. Many of these are bigger than in other states, of course, notably in Kuril or Kulmsaar and Terra Scotia, but the state of Svalbard isn't a state with any such movement to write home about. As one of the founder states both of the Federation of Polar Islandstates and its political predecessor the Valhallan Union, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise - the vast, vast, vast majority of Svalbardi citizens are 100% behind the Federation as a nation.

They see no reason why this should stop them sending a representative side to the Cuppet, however.

Itself a union of six duchies or city-states unified by King Harald Larsen in the twelfth century, Svalbard still recognises the six sub-divisionary states of Spitsbergen, Longyearbyen, Barentsberg, Solovetsky, Møllna-Grei, and Geidenheim and grants them reasonable powers of self-governance. Nonetheless, national Svalbardi patriotism is strong, and this representative twenty-three will be well supported. Only Svalbardi players at Svalbardi clubs have been selected.

OOC: Yes I'm aware that my Monarchy makes no sense. That's why the PPP revolted against it, and now we have democracy in Michael VII. Jagoza is an underground royal resistance living below the city of Jagoza in Michael VII. The Jagozer (separate to Jagozan of Michael VII proper), continue to live in their monarchical system, and many reside in rural Jagoza above ground too. Michael VII does not recognise this nation and treats them as rebels that are still subject to Michael VII law. Technically they have active arrest warrants out, however they are never captured as it is deemed a waste of resources chasing down this small rebellion.

Underground News: Royal FC of Jagoza team to play again in World Cuppet IV.

Once again, the Jagozer team will be entering the World Cuppet. After a spectacularly average debut in World Cuppet 3, the Royal FC team are attempting to get glory once again and show M7 that the Monarchy is where it is at. Stupid Democracy advocates, all you ever get is problems, WE KNOW WHERE WE STAND IN A MONARCHY! So, this illegal nation is entering just to annoy M7 officials again. Fight the power!

Coaches
Manager: Emperor Michael Nathans of Michael VII, 55
Assistant Manager: King Humphrey Carter of Jagoza, 53
Trainer: High King Terrence Ford of West Bank, 64

Starters
GK: Baron Ludwig Carter of Karoshire, 31
DEF: Duke Edward Denver of Keshire, 40
DEF: Duke Damien Samuelson of Rite, 28
DEF: Crown Prince Frederick Nathans of Michael VII, 32
DEF: Count Riley Porter of Jagbridge, 38
MID: Baron Lawrence Reynolds of Estaurside, 25
MID: Duke Michael Stevens of Asherton, 42
MID: Crown Prince Tyson Nathans of Michael VII, 28
MID: Heir-Apparent Crown Prince Jonathan Nathans of Michael VII, 35
FWD: Count Wesley Pewter of Sinai, 27
FWD: Baron Gordon Hicks of Frbiba, 36

Subs
GK: Marquess Dylan Weston of Atlancia, 42
DEF: Viscount Jonathan Jordan of Benshire, 32
MID: Earl Reese Martin of Wellsford, 48
FWD: Baronet Otto Nash of Dunton, 34

To Follow the Former Titles of The Holy Empire of Michael VII...

Emperor: Reigns over all of Michael VII, holds political and religious power over the Empire. Heirs are Crown Princes.
High Kings: Reigns over the West Bank or East Bank of Michael VII, holds power over all Kingdoms in such area. Heirs are Princes.
Kings: Reigns over their certain Kingdoms, usually encompassing only a few cities, loses power to High King.
Princes: Heirs to the High Kingdom or any Kingdom.
Dukes: Reigns over a city area, sons of the Princes.
Marquess: Sons to a Duke, or Ineligible to rule over the Duchy.
Earl/Count: Held title in a middle-sized town, usually the younger sons to a Marquess.
Viscount: Brothers of an Earl/Count. Coexists with Earls in the same town.
Baron: Ruler of a small town, sons of an Earl with boundaries within the County of the Earl.
Baronet: Smallest noble title, has no ruling, but holds hereditary title. Successors to the Barons.

And RP Permissions, as per normal Michael VII traditions, anything goes. Style Mod: +5.
A nation founded off of the Royalists that were exiled from Michael VII in the Revolutionary War.

Might not be around all that much, mostly use M7. Planning on using this account more.

(OOC: Old stats. IACS scored a bunch in Cuppet 3, so the numbers will be different when I get around to updating them.)

IC: IACS is an international pariah on two islands in northwest Atlantian Oceania. Infamous for gazumping the islands on a shady real estate deal and especially for the surreptitiously recorded quote "the key is to stand about and look like you own the place, and hope nobody asks for a copy of the deeds", IACS maintains a policy of strict isolationism and neutrality in AO conflicts in order to avoid scrutiny of its domestic policy. Slavery is tolerated (encouraged by some districts), and the substantial indigenous population are routinely disenfranchised and sometimes attacked openly in the street, on their farms and in their traditional fishing waters. With their rights ripped away in one sector of society after another, many of them are reduced to subservience and have little chance of being recognized as national footballers. As such, the roster given is a little skewed. Visitors are welcome as long as they stick to the official tour or a short list of approved routes or areas, or, alternatively, file for 'international friend' status after passing an ideological test.

OOC: TG me about interactive RP opportunities, and/or feel free to RP extemporaneously about nefarious doings in this nation. IACS is unlikely to extradite anyone or tolerate the incursion of international or regional law into its domain, and could easily be the subject of activist pressure campaigns, aid flotillas, etc. The national government does little to rein in abuses or even consistently punish offenders, so anything goes, really. Additionally, international fugitives (even war criminals) are generally given a soft touch unless they are involved in domestic crimes or unfavorable political activity; on the other hand, there is little to prevent local officials from threatening, extorting or abusing them themselves.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers Y
Godmod scoring events Y
RP injuries to my players Y
Godmod injuries to my players - only with realistic technology/weather of today's Earth
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y
Hand out red cards to my players Y (encouraged)

Some damn Qabalistic puppet (of Free South Califas, but only OOCly) which gazumped Wight out of Number Two, Atlantian Oceania just before AOCAF 36. A wise man once said that "the key is to stand about and look like you own the place, and hope nobody asks for a copy of the deeds".

Style modifier: -1

If you RP first, you can choose my goalscorers, RP injuries, and hand out cards. Feel free to godmod events, too, just don't godmod my characters' reaction too much without asking first, and don't do anything supernatural to my team that I can't do to yours. Please feel free to telegram if you want to collaborate on anything, I'm always up for working together. Thanks!

Manager: Mastiv Reaven. Formerly of surprising champions Deahpild TU, his quiet demeanor was always a bit out of place for that wild of a club and he'll be happy to have a chance to take a more defensive approach here.

Goalkeepers:
Sharnis Aylkee (Atteregav Numa)*
Tope Hassel (Mt Ceabring Thunder, Taeshan)
Tubin Luvelee (Brantslaybel TU)

Defenders:
Soypuv Klume (Atteregav Numa)
Tardit Nyn (Nithgard GU)
Vofe Santee (Rogglebo TU)
Lemond Toneler (Ousteeble TU)*
Laynin Brathis (Ousteeble TU)
Stob Heayander (Perntav Marna TU)
Rumee Dasser (Rogglebo TU)*
Dander Fels (Stirvik TU)
Muytan Rose (Atteregav Numa)

Midfielders:
Moygel Hempner (Attereg GU) (captain)
Dorim Atik (Ungalb Devsgrybe)
Kayv Rashith (Ungalb Devsgrybe)
Meltee Peskin (Deahpild TU)
Ipe Hengel (Attereg GU)
Shayv Allagondee (Retatyn TU)
Stavin Bulris (Deahpild TU)
Kayleat Moris (Retatyn TU)*

Forwards:
Kayra Barten (Attereg GU)
Tubim Mandel (Deahpild TU)
Belb Inmora (Atlantea Hurricanes, Taeshan)

*: female player

The players are listed in very rough seniority and priority order by position (first listed are somewhat more likely to play). Formations could be a 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 5-3-2, 5-4-1, anything goes really but mostly with a defensive bent.

A recent development in Earental football is the advent of "nidjing;" creating as if by magic (but actually due to science, somehow), a "psychic" link between individuals compatible in some identifiable way. At least when applied to footballers, the results are somewhat increased levels of physical awareness--perhaps they'll be able to know where to pass to the other, even with a poor line of sight. Generally this is done artificially, but in recent seasons, other pairs have "clinked" or formed such a link without resorting to science. Of course, it's by no means a cure-all; teams with successful pairs (or "nidjfoges") can and regularly do lose to teams without, but Lemond Toneler and Laynin Brathis' success as a unit at Ousteeble is part of the reason why they've been called up. Ditto for Kayra Barten and Ipe Hengel of Attereg. Vofe Santee's former nidjlome (linkee) is now coaching at their club, and won't be accompanying the national team, but he should be fine on his own/alongside the rest of the defense.

Our first-choice kits are gold with green sashes. Our second-choice kits are white with Earental pink numbers and names (Earental pink is sort of a laughingstock, even within Earent). And our goalkeepers wear teal jerseys with black numbers and names.

I can't take credit for all the ideas here--some of them are other people's but they've let me run with them.

All text is, ICly, in Earad, and transliteration retcons are likely at any time!
