Cup of Harmony 54:

Following on from a successful A Death Note in Sakhovelo Series, I decided to make an indirect sequel to the series.

I've decided the Roster will be pretty bare bones for my planned RP. The Events that led to the creation of this team will be posted in the Pre-CoH Roleplay, linked upon creation. The RP's will be about the lives of each of the people's lives, so instead of giving Small Roleplay's now, they will be linked upon Creation.

Harvest Mice debut at the CoH

Postby Free South Califas » Sat Nov 10, 2012 6:37 pm

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers Y
Godmod scoring events Y (within reason)
RP injuries to my players N
Godmod injuries to my players N
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y (sparingly, they are generally disciplined)
Hand out red cards to my players Y (sparingly, they are generally disciplined)
Godmod other events - only related to earthquakes, droughts, wildfires, mudslides and other realistic weather events typical of Southern California or your country. In winter, flooding can strand vehicles in the heavily-populated area around Mission Valley Stadium in San Diego, which is actually an emergency shelter in wildfire season. In the course of extreme-weather RP, you may injure one of my players if realism dictates it must happen. Do not kill anyone named in this post.

Presenting the South Califas Harvest Mice
and their incredible 11 kits!
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage GKImage
World Cup 60 kits provided by the June 11th Solidarity Committee, FSC Aspies for Freedom, and the Worker Solidarity Movement of Free South Califas
Additional kits for World Cup 61 provided by 13FA/ISAC571 International Sporting Uniform Provision Act and the duly compensated labor thereof

The Harvest Mice weren't expected to do much when they debuted for World Cup 60 qualifying after missing the registration date for the Baptism of Fire that has traditionally honed the mettle of new nations. When the plucky Califans finished 4-3-7, just a point out of fourth place, they were shocked to do better than 7th. A 2-2 upset draw against Unibot followed by an even bigger 0-0 upset draw against Bostopia were perhaps the highlights of the Group 12 action for FSC, but they also pasted fellow unranked competitors Corderock and finished even on series with Cult of Ashley Greene and Monastery-on-the-Rock before taking another 2 points away from Unibot with a 0-0 draw.

Despite the unexpected successes along the way, South Califas pundits have warned that a group softened by Bostopia's body blows week in and week out inflated the Mice's results. While there is much difference of opinion about the way forward, the players came to agree that it would be wise to hire a manager with experience in international competition rather than relying on the player-manager system. After a characteristically long and confusing election, the players decided to bring on [nation=Osarius]Osarian[/nation] club manager Oswaldo Garabona, formerly of the Violia club (as manager) and Grasshoppers Turic (as captain). Garabona was considered a good fit for the flexible, unorthodox, somewhat unpredictable, anarchic improvisational style of the Harvest Mice. Nicknamed "El Loco", Garabona is known for using bizarre and innovative formations and controversial substitutions, as well as for giving the general air of a used car salesman.

Given the strength and resilience shown by the ragtag band of footballers from World Cup 60, Garabona has decided to bring back the entire roster and start with a wing-heavy defensive formation, from which the quick-thinking Califans--honed by the total-football-like demands of El Metodo--can rapidly shift into a counterattacking form to catch opponents off guard.

After a historic 8-2-4 WCQ campaign, the Harvest Mice have been invited to their first ever Cup of Harmony. Garabona and company will have much to prove after jumping from rank 95 to 71 with a slew of impressive upsets and an embarrassing upset loss and draw to boot. The Mice actually overperformed against their ambitious preseason goal of 7-3-4, finishing in fourth place as predicted. They were in second place heading into the final game at West Angola and were barely defeated by the team they had upset earlier in the campaign; if they won, they would have reached the playoffs on positive head-to-head results against Phoenigetuzstha, also upsets. On the fast track to success, Garabona now has to watch out that he isn't hoist on his own petard of raised expectations, with Football Assembly elections coming up after the CoH.

Team Overview

After a disastrous World Cup 62 qualifying campaign where the Lions failed to reach the playoff pods for the first time since the last World Cup. The sixth attempt for a qualification to the World Cup is crushed after a third place finish in a competitive group that contains four legendary footballing nations with the likes of Valanora, Starblyadia, The Islands Of Qutar and Jedi. With the Lions getting eleven out of a possible of twenty four points from the four sides, not even half of the pointing scale and that surface into the Lions slump in the group tables and in the Mid-World Cup 62 ranking tables with a drop of 6 places from a 43rd place to an undeserving 49th place.

It might be all that is left for the Cup Of Harmony for the Lions to turn the tables around till the next World Cup cycle. A first round of reshuffle of the entire Mapletish team took place after the World Cup and the new team sees a major change with many key players stepping down from their standing roles and a new 32 players get their selection from a player pool of more than 500 players. The management team has also seen a major reshuffle, with Muain Newtons out of his managerial seat after the Sports Congress decides on the final stand on Muain Newtons.

It waits to all and everybody to see what the new elected manager will take on the new reins of his or new newly formed squad and management team.

The new reshuffle sees a team of a all-female management team for the first time in the history of the Mapletish National Team too, setting yet a second milestone. Janette will be tasked with something heavy which is to bring the squad of her own selection of players to the knockout stages of the Cup Of Harmony just like the goal set by any of the managers that manage the team for the Cup Of Harmony.

Cuboneland is a nation that doesn't pay much attention to sports, and as such, the football team doesn't have many players, however, the coach Susanne Ace and her team are as dedicated as anyone else in the professional football scene. Their captain and center, Jordan Hannibal, had been captured by Thomas Pon, a bitter football star who was denied the team by Ace for his less than pleasant attitude, but Hannibal recently escaped his custody. DJ Holloway, their former goalkeeper, was critically injured by an assassin in the most recent World Cup and was permanently crippled, but he has taken up the role as assistant coach so that he can still be with the team and just be around football.

WESTERN CUBAN OFFICIAL NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER
World Cup 62

Image

By: Felipe Herrera

It was a downer last world cup cycle for Western Cuba, finishing a rather disappointing fourth place. But keep in mind, this is a young team, they have a bright future. Lead by Cayo Vargas, I present you the Western Cuban roster for the 54th Cup of Harmony, followed by a brief summary of each player (and manager)

Information:
Rank: 63
Formation: 4-2-4
Style Modifier: +5

Coaching Staff:

Manager: Cayo Vargas: Vargas is new to coaching, and it showed for Western Cuba during the qualifying campaign. But not only does this team seem to have a bright future, but Cayo seems to as well. This should be a breakout campaign for Cayo Vargas, if he fails here, he shoudl have the Copa Rushmori, and then it will be over for him.

Assistant Manager: Emanuel Montero: The King of Beach Soccer, well after leading Western Cuba to three straight Beach Cup championships, he is coming to a different pitch. After many long months demanding for an assistant coach, Cayo Vargas finally conceded and brought in Montero. Who I think will prove to be a great addition to the team. Let's hope beach soccer isn't as different than association soccer as we think it is. Two players have made returns from beach soccer, let us hope Montero can do the same.

Goalie Coach: Hector Diaz: Yes, Western Cuba did have a goalie coach before. But before this, the media didn't really care. But now at least the Western Cuban media does, including me! Hector Diaz has been hired as the goalie coach for Armando Santos this Cup of Harmony, Hector Diaz has quite an accomplished career. Playing soccer in Western Cuba, Civil Citizenry, and perhaps being the most accomplished goalie on the national team in history, Armando Santos has quite a mentor.

Starting 11:

#1, Goalkeeper, Armando Santos: Santos has proven to be a reliable goalie, but after his great debut a few world cups ago, he hasn't stood out as I thought he would be. When it has come down to the wire, like on a penalty kick, Santos really hasn't made many great game-stopping saves. Hector Diaz will change that.

#5, Fullback, Shin Denisov: Ironically for running a 4-2-4 , Western Cuba played pretty well on the defensive side of the ball. Denisov was probably the weakest defender on the field, but was still better than anyone on the bench. He holds his job for now, but unless he has a solid Cup of Harmony, Cayo Vargas will find new talent to replace him.
T
#8, Center back, Fabio Acin: The defender for Ovalle City not only has proved himself domestically, but also nationally. Acin and Ruiz formed a rather solid defensive middle in games, and forced most opponents to play from the outside. If Denisov steps up, and Posas recovers quickly, this will be a stubborn defense. Even with a 4-2-4.

#3, Center back, Gabriel Ruiz: His days as the defensive captain are safe...for now. Ruiz was the main reason this defense played as well as it did during world cup qualifying, even with Patricio Posas playing out with an injury. But anything can happen, and if Western Cuba flops during the Cup of Harmony, (and it has a history to back that), he can find himself back on the hot seat.

#11, Fullback, Patricio Posas: A young talent, but only if he kept himself injury free. Esteban Sanchez filled in well for Posas while he was gone, and well be looked at better by Cayo Vargas. However Patricio Posas was playing outstanding before he hurt himself. If he stays healthy, he has quite a career ahead of him.

#22, Halfback, Alberto Perez I just don't understand this guy, enough said. Perhaps the laziest guy on the team, lives in the team's national practice facility, but somehow plays the position requiring the most awareness and agility, and does it well?

#10, Halfback, Vincent De Santa De Santa and Perez may be the reason this 4-2-4 offense works. The only problem is they need to find someone that can work it alongside with them. As much as we would like them to, De Santa and Perez can't play the full 90 minutes in every game, especially during world cup qualifying. The bench failing to step up has hurt Western Cuba in qualifying and will need to step up for a successful Cup of Harmony.

#19, Winger, Ricardo Calderón The situation with the left winger is so tricky, we have two good players in Dawson and Calderon. It's tough to pick who starts. In the end, the choice goes to Ricardo Calderon. And I see why, Dawson plays well as a bench player and coming late into the game, Calderon is more of a quick starter. While they may take up 1 of the 3 substitutions Western Cuba is limited to, its well worth it.

#11, Center Forward, Edgardo Mendoza Tito Moreno may play better during the domestic season, but its still Edgardo Mendoza running the show with the national team. This may needs at least a Cup of Harmony championship or a World Cup group stage berth, I'm afraid he won't stop playing until he gets either or.

#21, Center Forward, Tito Moreno There is one problem with Tito Moreno, he plays well domestically, (he recently broke his old record with 34 goals at Pays de Croix), he has had trouble playing well internationally. Moreno is the best player in Saugeais, (Led his team to a League and FAS Cup), but he needs to make ends meet in Western Cuba. Especially if he wants to impress other leagues, as Moreno is at the end of his contract.

#7, Winger, Konstantin Yevtushenko Konstantin has proved himself to be a solid winger just like Ricardo Calderon. They seem to be the main support for Moreno and Mendoza on the outside. If Konstantin keeps it up, he will find himself as a consistent member of the national team.

Bench:
#31, Offense, Tom Dawson
#25, Offense, Diego Nanez
#19, Halfback, Goyo Soto
#13, Halfback, Matro Carpio
#04, Defense, Esteban Sanchez
#14, Defense, Chico Senteno
#02, Goalie, Feliz Angon

The Wyverns
Image

The Staff

Coaching Staff
Head Coach
Donald Hemlock- Donald Hemlock has been head coach of the Wyverns for the past 6 years. When he was first selected, Coach Hemlock had led the Newport Thunder to three straight National Championships in his time as coach. The man retired two years following that amazing streak, but when asked to coach the international team, gratefully accepted. He has since led the Wyverns on a variety of different runs. The Wyverns steadily improved to an international level, culminating by qualifying in the World Cup 60. Though they lost their first game of playoffs, the team was definitely energetic and ready to return to the scene. Unfortunately, a small recession meant the team received no funding and was unable to operate last year. Luckily, the recession came to a quick end and funding has returned. Coach Hemlock has taken the team to a new and higher training regime. He is ready to return to the World Cup and make the world respect the Wyverns again.

Assistant Coach
Tarry Hemer- Tarry Hemer has coached the Wyverns alongside Hemlock for the past five years. Head Coach of the Kellington Shamrocks, he led them to a national championship only five years ago. Hemer had helped Hemlock bring the Wyverns unit into a elite and fast working killing machine. Hemer's style of coaching provides an interesting contrast to Hemlock's own, though it only benefits the team. Hemer is optimistic about the Wyverns, despite the year break in between World Cups.

Management
Manager
George Thomas-George Thomas has been manager of the Wyverns for the past six years. He was picked by Jedi8246's International Sports Committee to help bring the team together. Since his selection, Thomas has helped build the Wyverns from bottom up. His selection of Donald Hemlock was much acclaimed. Prior to managing the Wyverns, Thomas was manager of the Harper Jackals. Thomas is well known for his trust in people he selects, rarely switching coaches until they retire, regardless of whether they win or lose. This strategy has been a key part of the Wyverns, whose staff and players has remained largely unchanged since the creation of the team six years ago.

Asst. Manager
Robert Godfrey- Robert Godfrey is the new assistant manager of the Wyverns. Until this year, Mikael Gibbons had held the position. Unfortunately Mr Gibbons was brutally murdered in the Red Rat killings last year. May he rest in peace. Mr Godfrey was chosen due to his sharp management of the Charleston Rangers, who took them from a bottom feeder to a playoff worthy team in a short period of five years. Godfrey will help bring a dynamic of sharply choosing players that will help benefit the overall style of the Wyverns.

The Players

Keepers
Dan Triboult (Starter)- Dan Triboult has been the starting keeper for the Wyverns for the past six years. Triboult is the three time Pro-Bowl Keeper of the Kellington Shamrocks. Acclaimed for what seems like a sixth sense, Triboult's awareness of what occurs on the field is above average. He always has an eye on the action and is always ready to defend a ball that flies his way. While he is not the fastest player, he will always know how he missed a ball and be ready to make on the spot improvements.

Leontes Guilga (Back-Up)-Leontes Guilga had been playing third string keeper for the past six years. However with Jack Oft's retirement from soccer, Guilga will now rise to fill the back-up postion. Leontes is characterized for his brutal style of play. He is not afraid to slam into scorers to stop attacks on the goal, even if he risks penalties. He is the primary keeper for the Dadisman Spartans, where he has helped define the team's playing style of rough play.

Backs
JhorDan Sykes (Left Fullback)-JhorDan Sykes has been a member of the Wyverns for the past six years as well. He had just finished his amazing rookie season with Dadisman Spartans when he joined the team. Since then, he joined the Spartans in winning a national championship only two years later and has become a well developed player. Like Guilga, he is know for a rough style of play.

Gary Dean (Left Center Back)- Gary Dean has also been a member of the Wyverns since the team's inception six years previously. Gary Dean plays on the domestic team Newport Thunder. Dean took part in the three time in a row championship team, an elite member at his position. Though he is now the oldest member of the team at 36, he still maintains his skill and finesse, if his speed and physicality isn't what it was. His experience helps rally his fellow backs in tough spots.

Acacius Fell (Right Center Back)-Acacius is a new member of the Wyverns this year. A fellow member of the backs unit of the Dadisman Spartans, he shares the same philosophy of his teammates. He combines this brutality with a quick pair of legs. Easily one of the fastest men in the nation, he is well known for quickly rushing an opponent, stealing the ball and passing it off to the midfielders.

Quintus Marks (Right Fullback)- Quintus is another six year member of the Wyverns. He is a member of the Dadisman Spartans, meaning of course he is a rough player. What separates Quintus from his fellow Spartans is his nimbleness. His skill at maneuvering has helped him direct his strength in unique ways. He is easily the most hard to guess player on the pitch.

Midfielders
Fiona Dowell (Left Midfield)-Fiona Dowell is the newest member of the team and also the first female member. The Wyverns have decided that both male and female players should be given a shot at playing on the international team. Fiona Dowell is a member of the Washington Royals and the MVP of the female league. Fiona Dowell started playing in the league as a back, before quickly developing into a faster and more lean type of player. Moving to the midfield position, she shined and helped carry the Royals to the national championship, though they failed to win.

Kris Hutchenson (Center Midfield)- A six year man out of the Gotham Knights, Kris is an interesting player. Originally he was an artist, but decided to head into tryouts on a whim. Hutchenson discovered his skill and was made a starter only a year later. He has now been in the game for nine years, having helped carry out the Wyverns style of fast play.

Sam Leon (Right Midfield)- Sam Leon has been with the Wyverns for six years as well. Sam was personally picked by Terry Hemer, who saw the man play in a recreation league. Leon was the only member of the Wyverns to have not played on a professional level, yet that failed to make his ability any lesser. Sam quickly adopted to the Wyverns style of play, considered a secret weapon in that many teams underestimate his value.

Forwards
Manny Hem (Right Forward)- Manny Hem is the oldest member of the Hem brothers. The Hem Brothers all come from the Kellington Shamrocks, whose sharp and swift attack helped carry the Shamrocks to the championship six years ago. As a unit, they are the sharpest set of forwards the game has seen in a long time. The brothers had been playing together since childhood. The Shamrocks wheeled and dealed to get all three of the brothers on their team. Their familiarity with one another make them one of the most in tune units in the game. They pass to one another with frightening accuracy. Manny is the tallest and has the most reach. He carries the right side of the field and is often the one who scores in the Hem combination.

Nicolas Hem (Center Forward)-Nicolas is the middle brother and the smallest. What he doesn't have in size, he makes up for in speed. He is a extremely fast player, who helps carry the ball between Charles and Manny. His speed also helps him take the ball around backs who would normally pose a threat to his other two brothers.

Charles Hem (Left Forward)-Charles is the youngest of the Hem brothers and the most brutal. If he didn't play on the Shamrocks, many say he would fit in quite well with the Spartans. Charles likes to play rough and hard. He is not afraid to charge any player, regardless of body type. It helps that he is one of the strongest players on the games. He has injured more players than anyone else in the domestic leagues.

Brian Kilkenny (Back-Up)-Brian Kilkenny has played back-up for the past six years. What makes him remarkable is that he seems to be a fusion of the Hem brothers into one being. While he doesn't excel particularly at any of the Hem's skills, he can fill in for any of the Hem's, should they get injured. Brian plays for the Tile Gators in the domestic leagues. The Gators are considered the worst team in the league, though have managed to hold onto Brian who is easily the most skilled player on the team. He has sticked by the team since he signed with them in his rookie year, despite other teams offering him more lucrative contracts. He continues to believe that the Gators can become a championship level team.

Kinitaria National Football Team
For the 54th Cup of Harmony
Image

The FFK recognise that, as a first seed, Kinitaria are viewed as one of the top teams in the competition. As such, their minimum expectation is to reach the quarter-finals.

Manager: Kristijan Evinov (age 58)
The first permanent manager of the national side following Tofiq Yurovič's departure prior to the last Cup of Harmony. His managerial experience so far has been with East Mi'ato United and Taimanesta in the Kinitar B-League, with both of his teams enjoying moderate success. Although his appointment raised some eyebrows around the country, he immediately set about hushing the doubters, and Kinitaria put on a fantastic spectacle for their fans, defeating former world number one Krytenia twice and coming back from 4-0 down to beat Yesopalitha 5-4 in Mi'ato. Sadly, it was not to be. Second place in the group sent Kinitaria through to their first ever shot at the playoffs, but that was as far as they would go. After crashing out 0-1 to Taeshan, Kinitaria take up their spot in the Cup of Harmony, with Evinov looking to bounce back from the disappointment of a failed qualification campaign.
Tactically, the norm at Taimanesta, and the formation he has adopted for Kinitaria, was for him to use an attacking 4-4-2 formation, which could become a 4-2-4 if necessary, the two wide midfielders pushing up to support the attack. If desperately clinging onto a lead, the plan seems to be one of all out defence, with as much time-wasting and hoofs into the stands as it is possible to cram into the end-game.

Players
There are two changes in this squad - young Rumen Kaloyanov has no spot in the Cup of Harmony squad after failing to impress in qualification, but the key absence is that of 36-year-old former captain Yulian Kovačev, who had cabled his intent to retire from international football after the World Cup. Having carried the Kinitar team on his shoulders for years, the image of him crouched on the field, close to tears, after the play-off loss has become an iconic one in Kinitaria. Kovačev will never play in the World Cup.

1. Costin Petran - GK - age 31 - 1. Maja - 82 caps - 0 goals
Petran is by far the overwhelming choice for the goalkeeping position, having held the #1 jersey almost permanently since the team played its first match. A superb shot-stopper, he is likely to consider each goal conceded as a personal insult. He played a key role in many of Kinitaria's victories in the World Cup qualifiers, and it is unlikely that he will be ousted from his position.

2. Karl Sala - LB - age 26 - Mi'ato - 67 caps - 1 goal
Sala has been an established member of the team right from their first game. An old-fashioned sort of left-back, he aims to make life hard for oncoming attackers, and will always stand his ground. He has been known to put in some harsh tackles, and this is shown by his disciplinary record, since he's been sent off six times in 67 appearances.

3. Doran Lupei - CB - age 28 - Litora United - 74 caps - 2 goals (Captain)
The loyal, talented defender is great at marking, sticking closely to his man and breaking up attacks through the middle. He's proven himself to be the anchor of a Kinitar back line which has often been criticised for being fragile, and his performance will likely be crucial if Kinitaria are to make a name for themselves here. He's earned the captain's armband for both club and country through his loyalty, sticking with Litora United at a time when the club was going into meltdown.

4. Sebastien Sykora - CB - age 27 - AFC Damaciu - 67 caps - 1 goal
Maybe not the most technically gifted of defenders, Sykora has nevertheless established himself as a regular in the national side. He's no stranger to the occasional error, having cost Kinitaria crucial goals on at least two occasions during qualifying, and was part of the Damaciu side which slipped down the league in the latter half of last season. Despite this, he is versatile and can drift into new positions as needed, and he has also been known to notch a few goals himself, mainly headed efforts from corners.

5. Anton Spirlea - RB - age 25 - Mi'ato City - 76 caps - 0 goals
An accomplished team player and capable of performing under pressure, Spirlea is known for his excellent distribution of the ball, able to pick out a team-mate and start a counter attack with ease. He never panics when pressed and prefers to play his way out of trouble rather than hoofing the ball upfield. It's very rare to see him make a mistake and if he does have a flaw, it would be that he tends to let his complacency get the better of him. Expect to see him perform during the tournament.

6. Sergiu Vacarestič - LW - age 24 - Avnani Athletic - 70 caps - 16 goals
Vacarestič is now an established member of the Kinitar squad, one of the first names on the teamsheet. He is an attacking-minded winger who slots perfectly into Kinitaria's formation, and he's just as likely to cut inside and have a go at goal as well as sending in a cross from the left - preferring to cross early and attempt to beat the offside trap.

7. Paulo Naoumov - DM - age 29 - AFC Farnworth (LCP) - 55 caps - 10 goals
Due to incidents in the Premier Division, Naoumov has always been a divisive figure for Kinitar fans, but he's made a lot of progress towards winning them back with some fine performances for the national side. In his preferred DM role, the determined Naoumov refuses to back down from a challenge and can often be seen making life worse for oncoming attackers. However, he didn't make as many appearances as he would have liked during qualification, and he has had difficulty fitting into Evinov's system.

8. Kristijan Preda - CM - age 27 - Jan Mayen Islanders (PIS) - 56 caps - 9 goals
Another player who's mounting a strong challenge to a first-team place, Preda is an accomplished free-kick taker and can also head a ball well. After some time in the wilderness, he has impressed new boss Evinov in training and has won himself a spot in the first team. He might not be able to run a game himself, but his hard work and determination can make all the difference.

9. Lupan Mihalcič - SS - age 29 - Mi'ato City - 71 caps - 42 goals
One half of the greatest strike partnership in Kinitar football, Mihalcič has proven his quality over and over again. His best position is just behind the main striker - typically Sabčot - from which he can both score and create goals. He can time his runs perfectly to cut through the opposing defence, and prefers to hit a first-time shot rather than using a few valuable seconds to bring the ball under control. Certain to be hungry for more goals during the upcoming tournament.

10. Luka Sabčot - CF - age 28 - Mi'ato City - 78 caps - 70 goals
The man himself. The talisman, the hero, the legend of Kinitar football. Sabčot scores goals for fun, is an outstanding finisher and excellent in one-on-one situations. He's also a bit of a playboy and a joker, and likes to show off in an attempt to impress his many fans. In fact, some might say he's a bit too cocky. But then, with a record like his (including 68 goals in 75 games for his club, Mi'ato City), then he can afford to be. There's nothing he enjoys more - in footballing terms - than embarrassing a goalkeeper to set himself up for a tap-in from close range.

11. Emil Pročazka - RM - age 32 - 1. Maja - 70 caps - 13 goals (Vice-captain)
Pročazka is an excellent partner to Vacarestič. It's not uncommon to see the two wingers surge forward to bolster an attack, with Pročazka being the better of the two at crossing, but he's also capable of scoring a good goal, and contributed to Kinitaria's qualification efforts with six of them. He has enough pace to beat any defender and remains a crucial part of Kinitaria's attacking plan.

12. Cyril Novak - LB - age 28 - Mowling City Tigercats (NSI) - 24 caps - 0 goals
Novak has established himself as one of the top defenders in the Premier Division since a return from a horror injury suffered last cycle. The bruising left-back plays hard but fair with no quarter given to opponents, a great sense of timing allowing him to stop attacks dead with a perfectly executed tackle. He's not the fastest player in the world, and will hoof the ball clear rather than playing his way out of trouble.

13. Vitya Jelen - GK - age 32 - Amzterdam FC (CYB) - 6 caps - 0 goals
Kinitaria's number two finally got a chance to show himself off during qualification, as Petran served a three-game suspension, and now hopes to get an extended run in the team. Having put some inconsistency problems behind him, he's proven to be excellent at stopping 1-on-1 shots and has shown great distribution of the ball. He tends to flap at crosses, but is a determined and reliable team player.

14. Milan Beskid - CF - age 23 - Universita Tirinthea - 14 caps - 3 goals
The talented young striker can finish like no other and functions best with a strike partner to spur him on to greater heights. He's not one for spectacular goals, instead, he's a consistent threat to opposition defences if he gets so much as a sight of goal within the penalty area. He's getting noticed in the national setup now, and scored two goals during qualification, including a close-range winner in the dramatic 5-4 against Yesopalitha.

15. Samuel Costica - CM - age 21 - Inovita - 11 caps - 0 goals
An inexperienced midfielder, one of the few youth team players to feature in Evinov's squad, he's still developing as a player and didn't really play much of a role in qualification. There's a chance he might get more of a run-out in the Cup of Harmony. If he does come on, expect him to try to use his pace to beat his marker before spreading the ball out wide to launch an attack. Distribution is definitely one of his strong points.

16. Vadim Reneiči - CM - age 20 - Mi'ato - 3 caps - 0 goals
The youngest player to be named in this squad, and well known to Evinov from his time at Taimanesta before his big-money move to Mi'ato, Reneiči was part of Yurovič's famous youth team which held Polar Islandstates to a 0-0 draw away in World Cup 61. Since then, he's shown incredible improvement and was snapped up by the cup holders in the last transfer window. Only two substitute appearances for him in the last campaign, but there's some promise there.

17. Čyran Malpomir - CF - age 31 - Mi'ato - 29 caps - 6 goals
Malpomir is an outstanding striker, but the dominance of Mi'ato City's strike partnership makes it difficult for him to force his way into the team. He might play a role in a 4-3-3, which Kinitaria have been known to use if they desperately need goals, but otherwise will mainly act as backup to the two main strikers. He's very gifted as a technical player, and will often tend to try to beat players in the penalty area and open up a clear path for a shot on goal.

18. Ciprian Marin - CB - age 21 - Universita Tirinthea - 10 caps - 0 goals
Marin came to the attention of former boss Yurovič after a solid performance for Tirinthea, and has continued to impress in training since then. Billed as a talent for the future, Marin has impressed in his two friendly appearances, but is unlikely to make a huge impact on the national game straight away. He still has much to learn, and if given a game, is likely to think rashly and dive into challenges without thinking. Might get half a game as a sub if Kinitaria are dominating.

19. Vikenti Andonov - RB - age 30 - Litora United - 31 caps - 0 goals
Andonov has been constantly in and out of a first team spot since his first call-up, but has been frozen out of the squad fairly often. Whether he'll get a chance in the Cup of Harmony remains to be seen, because he didn't in qualification. The tall, well-built defender has been known to intimidate opponents with both his stature and his playing style, given that a trick he likes to use on opposing players involves a sneaky foul on the blind side of the referee. He's a physical player, not a skilful one.

20. Leon Cantacuzino - LM - age 29 - Litora United - 51 caps - 10 goals
Litora are lucky that they managed to keep Cantacuzino, because he is an effective all-round player, able to score and create goals in equal measure. When he plays, he'll be the team's corner taker, since he can swing in a good ball from either the left or the right. He prefers to stay wide, use the flanks and cross from the byline, and he can do this very effectively to slice open an opposing defence. Kinitaria's super-sub, in a way. He can change the direction of a game almost single-handedly.

21. Jaren Kozak - GK - age 27 - Mi'ato - 0 caps - 0 goals
What does a third choice keeper actually do? They're just there to take up space, really. A decent keeper for Mi'ato, but... third choice nationally. So he almost certainly won't feature. He's dependable enough, but not the most skilful of keepers. At least he'll get into all of Kinitaria's games for free.

22. Alfonsa Surilev - CB - age 30 - Mi'ato - 0 caps - 0 goals
Surilev has to step into Yulian Kovačev's old role, and those are some big shoes to fill. He's a mainstay of the title-challenging Mi'ato side, which is a team that traditionally places its emphasis on defence. He's had a standing national reputation for some time thanks to his no-nonsense attitude and hard tackles which Evinov seems to favour. He'll likely get a chance to showcase what he can do during the Cup of Harmony.

23. Polin Blanarič - RM - age 23 - Mi'ato - 0 caps - 0 goals
An unknown quantity on the international scene, Blanarič has also largely gone unnoticed domestically, but has earned his place in the Kinitar squad thanks to a series of consistent performances in the Premier Division. The sort of player who you might describe as a workhorse - he works hard, and he's steady, but not spectacular. He'll run and tackle and generally put himself around, making a nuisance of himself to the opposition.

Kits
ImageImageImage
Kinitaria continue the policy of keeping the same kits throughout one cycle

Left (home): Halved shirts are a common sight on the field of play. Halved shorts... not so much. Someone at the FFK thought it was a good idea.
Center (away): An unusual design incorporating the national colours on the sleeves. If the team win anything in it, it'll become a cult classic kit, otherwise, consigned to the scrapheap.
Right (goalkeeper): National goalkeeper Costin Petran wears a striking orange and black outfit for this cycle.

Fans
Image
Kinitar fans burn flares during the 4-1 Cup of Harmony 53 victory over Audioslavia

Kinitar fans are known for their passion. They're also known for burning down a significant portion of the Tricorn Arena in Wight during the last Cup of Harmony, and are sure to be delighted of the chance to return. Naturally, the FFK has naturally disavowed all responsibility, and supporters' groups maintain that the shoddy construction of the host stadium was to blame. Either way, lighting flares is a part of fan culture in Kinitaria, and there's always the possibility that a Kinitaria goal will turn the air thick with smoke. During the match, the team are typically roared on by 70,000 home fans screaming themselves hoarse non-stop throughout the game, which creates an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams - although the fact that the aforementioned flares, among other things, are sometimes thrown at visiting players or fans might also contribute to this. The fights which characterise some of the most fierce club matches, such as the cross-capital derby between hated rivals Mi'ato City and Mi'ato, have yet to make their way to international level, although some say that this is merely because they haven't found the right spark yet. The FFK has been somewhat reluctant to take action against such matters, because "it's all part of the game, isn't it?"

Zandistani Men's National Team

Four years removed from their triumph in Ossidiacqua at the 48th Baptism of Fire, Zandistan aspires to win another international tournament, as slight as the chances may be. They were proud of their 4th place finish in their qualifying group, their best ever, and are confident they can take on anyone in the tournament, though the ZNFA does not expect them to get out of the group. The squad is virtually unchanged from the World Cup 62 Qualifying campaign.

STARTING XI

GK - 12 - age 27 - Juan Sánchez de la Mega (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
A huge beast with near superhuman strength, he is supremely acrobatic in the goalmouth. He has been a Zandistani legend ever since securing a 5-4 penalty-shootout victory with a diving save in the top right corner.

RB - 17 - age 25 - Scratch Tzingotürk (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
Growing up on the streets of Coastal Zandar, Zandistan’s capital, he is a very scrappy, physical player, and these tendencies sometimes lead him to commit fouls near Zandistan’s penalty area.

CB - 15 - age 22 - Ing Steen (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
Steen, while the youngest starter, has been a member of Zandistan’s top squad since age 17. He is tremendously skilled, but does sometimes lose focus and slip up on the back line.

CB - 4 - age 31 - Anthony Morris-Kalamazoo (capped in WCQ62)
Better known as Tony-mo, Morris-Kalamazoo has been tasked with holding together the back line, especially the young boys Tzingotürk and Steen. He debuted internationally at age 30 for the WCQ62, and did a commendable job holding together the back line

LB - 3 - age 28 - Avisajj Bunfogle (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
An expert at stealth, Bunfogle moves around the field largely silently, so Zandistan’s opponents frequently lose track of where he is. He is extremely dangerous on corner kicks.

CDM - 6 - age 26 - Melreund Mingot (capped in WCQ61, 62)
A less experienced midfielder than the others, he is unquestionably the weakest link in the Zandistani midfield.

LCM - 23 - age 27 - Melbrue Tangari (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
Tangari plays with a flair for the game unmatched by most. Still, as a transplanted winger, he often tries to do too much in space he doesn’t have, and turns over the ball.

RCM - 8 - age 27 - Travestino Bellucci (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
Bellucci has grown into his starters role in central midfield and is a very clean player.

LWM - 7 - age 26 - Nikolaas van Oolsjoy (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
Van Oolsjoy is a stalwart on the left wing, constantly plaguing defenders, one half of Zandistan’s extremely dangerous wing attack.

ST - 11 - age 32 - Yuri Radonezh-Muratovich (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
A beastly, brutal, physical forward, he punishes opposing defenses and even sometimes hurts his own teammates in practice. With his age, he normally features in a substitute role, but Domingo’s injury has led him up to the starting lineup again. Still, he tires easily, so expect substitutions.

RWM - 20 - age 23 - Jimmy-Phillip McRae (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
Easily the fastest member of the team, McRae is young and speedy and loves breaking down the wing, and will be counted on to spark the offense with Domingo on the bench.

Substitutes:

GK - 18 - age 29 - Wilfried Thomas (rostered BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62, no caps yet, thankfully)
Thomas is only on the roster in case of strange circumstances or injuries felling de la Mega, but he has never shown even basic proficiency in the goal, almost always giving up huge quantities of goals.

RB - 2 - age 26 - Cameron Wills (capped WCQ 62)
Wills would have been on the BoF 48-winning roster and the team sent to the qualifiers if not for a horrific injury to his right tibia. He performed well off the bench in recovery during WCQ62 and hopes to see more playing time

CB - 5 - age 26 - Josué Calderón (capped WCQ 62)
An often-used sub on nearly the same skill level as Steen and Morris-Kalamazoo.

CM - 10 - age 24 - Kirk Waldimer (capped WCQ 62)
Waldimer is an attacking center midfield who could potentially play forward as well.

ST - 9 - age 24 - Flavio Domingo (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
A pure talent, Domingo has a penchant for scoring beautiful golazos. However, he suffered a crushing injury to his right leg in during the WCQ62 qualifiers and is still recovering. It is unknown how much he will be able to play, if at all, but he hopes to make a significant impact.

Zandistan plays a 4-5-1 with wingers on the attack pushing it into a 4-3-3

COACHING STAFF

Head Coach - Drago Vilisević
He infuses energy into his players constantly and the team views him as the perfect coach. He has perfected a blazing midfield winger attack, and hopes he can get his star striker back as the point man. Still, the defense could use some work.
