"Hello Gaveoans everywhere! This is your host Jose Vasconcellos. We won! 2-1 against against a improving Maklohi Vai team. At first 10 minutes we scored with a Cesar Milano kick barely hitting the post while Maklohi Vai retaliated with a stunning kick, the result of a Maklohi Vai counter offensive. Half time was there and Gaveo took the lead in the 56th minute a goal from Sebastian Cadiz. Can win our third game? I think so! Lets see if my two predictions have gone with the results of our first two games.
Result: Gaveo 2-0 Kingdom of Phoenixia|My Prediction: 2-1 Gaveo
Gaveo 2-1 Maklohi Vai| My Prediction: 1-1 Tie
Well I am 1-1 and for a good reason! We are 2-0 hopefully we can continue like this! Go Gaveo! And good night.

DBK Sports - Football - Slembana 4-0 Lunar Republic Islands

Written by Temi Temi Dagens

We have recorded another big win in the fourth edition of the Copa Gaveo, which is being hosted by us. Our victims in this matchday are Lunar Republic Islands, who we beat 4-0 - our second win over the pony nation in two meetings. LRI start with just ten players on the pitch, which means they are always at a disadvantage, regardless of who they play.

We took the lead in the first minute, thanks to a great thunderbolt shot from Val Kylx which zipped past LRI goalkeeper Dashing Hooves. LRI had a great chance to score in the 4th minute, with striker Lightning Martinez hitting the post from 12 yards. Sport, their other striker, tested our goalkeeper, Toby Gapman, in the 7th minute, but, after that, we were totally dominant. This dominant spell was rewarded with a second goal for us in the 29th minute, with Eddie Barlow heading home from a great Finlay Yalnif cross. Our dominance continued right up until the half-time whistle, which blew with us leading 2-0.

The second half began brilliantly for us, with Jyvx Dagens curling home a great free-kick from 25 yards to put us 3-0 up in the 46th minute. Our dominance continued, with one of our best chances after the goal being a great Yalnif blockbuster from 30 yards palmed away brilliantly by Dashing Hooves. This was in the 75th minute. Five minutes later, we completely killed LRI off, with our left-winger, Yuppë Tárnix, firing home a great low shot from 25 yards. This goal seemed to spark LRI into life, as they bombarded our goal with shots, despite have no chance in the world of equalizing. However, they didn't score a consolation goal, as we have recorded a second successive clean sheet in the tournament.

St. Lucoa National News.

"Welcome to St. Lucoa national news, with me Jennifer Craddock. Later we will take a look at the weather forecast, but for now we will be focusing on our very own national football team. As I'm sure your all very aware, our team has won two out of two games in the Copa Gaveo. The thousands of fans that have made the journey to Slembana, has been rewarded by seeing some great football matches. One fan said that the atmosphere was so electric that he was sorry he never brought his family members to share his experience."

"St. Lucoa have played two great matches, the first one they won 6-0 and the second match they won 2-0. As mentioned before many critics said St. Lucoa had no chance, but St. Lucoa are currently second in their group, just because of goal difference. Earlier today, reporter Sammy Fielding caught up with Defender George Huntsley and this is what he had to say."

"So do you think St. Lucoa can advance to the quarter final? Something which most of the fans are expecting.

"Well yeah, I mean we have a great team of like-minded individuals, who can work well as a unit. We support each other and the crowd supports us. So I think we can progress to the quarter finals, it is a big ask, but it is possible."

"And what do you think of Joe Benson? Surely he will be instrumental in St. Lucoa's success."

"Well, as I said before it is a team success and we work as a unit, but Joe is a world class player and he had done well for us. He sure is a crowd favourite, but we all work hard."

"Thanks George. Back to you Jennifer."
Clint Eastwood: "Dobermans, a guard tower and a wire fence."
Richard Burton: "Fences can be cut or climbed Lieutenant."

St.Lucoa is a series of small Caribbean islands and is also a British Over-seas Territory.
RP population is 70,000 and it's millitary size is just 4,000.

St. Lucoa Tribune.

The boys have pulled through again. A fine performance was fueled by a supportive crowd and the high expectations of the media. Many have said that St. Lucoa could'nt keep the momentum going, but again they proved them wrong. It was a great performance by the team. The fans enjoyed this match, as the atmosphere was incredible and St. Lucoa continued their winning streak.

It was almost routine now that the St. Lucoan fans would sing their national anthem and then a popular hymn. And we all know what they sung. The crowd were fired up and ready for what would be an enjoyable match. The teams came out of the tunnel and on to the pitch, they were met with the roar of fans, who were cheering on their side.

It was St. Lucoa to kick off, all the usual players had started and the game was underway. The tactic of keeping the ball and being patient had brought St. Lucoa success before and the team was using the same tactic again in this match. 20 minutes had gone and for most of that time St. Lucoa had passed the ball around the back four. Boring football - yes. But a waste of time - no. St. Lucoa have mastered the possessional football style and the more they passed the ball around the more frustrated and tired the Drachmae players got. The first chance of the first half came to none other than Joe Benson who recieved the ball after being picked out by Simon Gillingham. Benson controlled the ball well and after a few step-overs managed to get past defender Takis Efstathios. Benson had a chance to shoot and shoot he did. The ball curved towards the bottom corner and the Drachmae goalkeeper did not react quick enough, so the ball sailed past him. 1-0 St. Lucoa. And Joe Benson celebrated in style.

In the 45th minute, Sanchez the goalkeeper brought down Fotios Marinos in the box. Sanchez recieved a yellow card and a penalty was awarded to Drachmae. Marinos took the penalty. The shot was weak and it was no problem for Sanchez. He had re-deemed himself. The whistle blew for half-time.

After the re-start St. Lucoa again kept the ball, much to the disappointment of the crowd. St. Lucoa knew if they could keep the ball, they would be in with a chance of holding on and winning the game. It was again a very tedious and boring half. Both sides had small chances, but none were taken advantage of. The final whistle was close. In the 89th minute, midfield Peter Batson picked up the ball in the centre of the park. He ran with it, moving out of the way of various tackles, he picked out Jacob Simonton. Simonton chested the ball down and passed to Benson. Joe Benson faked a shot and then played a through ball to Simonton, who was able to slot it home in the top corner. 2-0 St. Lucoa and minutes later the final whistle went. The crowd were loving it and so were the players. It was another fantastic victory for St. Lucoa.

St. Lucoa have really done well in this tournament so far, they have won 3 games and they have been functioning well together. The aim of reaching the quarter final does'nt seem that far away anymore. The boys were a credit to their country.

From the Lunar Chronicle

The LRI continues to struggle in the Copa Gaveo. They recieved thier 2nd loss to Amelio 2-1. Coach Klingspony feels we can still bounce back. "We just need to settle down. We seem too emotional after placing 3rd in Slembana, at this point we need to calm down and steal the next 3 games and win." Sport felt the same way and here's what he said to the team after the game, "Ok guys, listen, we're down, but we're not out. We can still do this, we gotta calm down, I am happy about placing 3rd in Slembana, but now we need to focus on this, if we do that, we will be very powerful. I know, we are the first pony nation ever to compete in Copa Gaveo, and we will be the first pony nation champions!" The team agreed as they huddled and yelled, "Win on 3, Win on 3, 1-2-3, WIN!" They have 3 game remaining and hope to regain ground in thier next games.

FSS Reportedly "Strongest They've Ever Been"
After winning two consecutive regional championships: the Copa Gaveo III and the Friendly Cup V, the media was flooded with articles proclaiming that the time for the States to take international glory in the World Cup was finally there. However, these proclamations have been confounded by the inopportune death of Maddie Kytle. The 8-year national team starter was declared officially dead only hours after the victorious match against Hujukialand several days ago. Though the reported cause of death was alcohol poisoning, many rumors have begun circulating that it was in fact Mr. Sharpointy getting "his revenge."

After losing Kytle, the FSS slumped to an early tie in the 62nd World Cup. Has the loss of Kytle destroyed the victoryious team? We await the results of the Copa Gaveo IV, which may be the most solid indicator as to the team's ability.

Thousandsuns beat Gaveo 3-1 in Copa Gaveo IV

Slembana: Goals from Kristofer Donatis, Jarrod Andrzejewski and Elliot Notto gave Thousandsuns a 3-1 away win over Gaveo in a Copa Gaveo IV match on Monday. Gaveo opened the score in the 12th minute when midfielder Septimus Greene' looping cross eluded Thousandsun's diving goalkeeper Morgan Delaplane. But Thousandsuns equalized two minutes later when an unmarked Donatis picked up a loose ball in front of goal after a failed Gaveo clearance and easily scored.

The Thousandians went ahead in the 72nd when Jarrod Andrzejewski converted from the penalty spot after Southwich was judged to have been brought down in the box. Elliot Notto scored a couple of minutes later with a low, close-range shot after evading several Gaveo defenders with a fine individual run. Thousandsuns have nine points after three games in Group B, while Gaveo have six points.

DBK Sports - Football - Slembana 1-1 Lymantatia

Written by Temi Temi Dagens

In our third game of the fourth Copa Gaveo - which is being hosted by us - we have drawn 1-1 with Lymantatia. This cannot really be called a good result. In addition, we slip from first to second place in Group A. In addition, all of Lymantatia's players have the surname "Silva".

We got off to our usual great start in matches by scoring in the third minute. Our scorer was no-one other than the fantastic Val Kylx, who smashed a great 25-yard shot past Lymantatian goalkeeper John Silva. Phillip Silva, one of Lymantatia's strikers, hit the post with a great drilled shot in the 7th minute, before Christopher Silva, their other striker, saw a great header saved by our goalkeeper, Toby Gapman. Lymantatia were passing through our defence and having numerous great chances. However, after Eddie Barlow, our other striker, came close from a quick counter-attack in the 26th minute, we were totally dominant. However, we couldn't find another goal, and went into half-time 1-0 up - which is still a good score, of course.

The second half almost began brilliantly for us, as Kylx saw a great shot saved by John Silva in the 46th minute. After that, we were totally dominant, with a number of great chances falling our way. The best of these chances was when Jyvx Dagens, our playmaker, saw one of his trademark free-kicks palmed over brilliantly by John. However, we still couldn't score another goal.

We were punished for missing all these chances in the last minute, when Phillip scored with a great bicycle kick, giving Lymantatia a valuable 1-1 draw, and a point. Our players were stunned by this, as we were so dominant that we should have won 4-0 or something. But no, we dropped two valuable points. Our next game will be against Anollasia, who have gained no points at all in the tournament so far. We expect ourselves to win, as the game looks easy on paper considering Anollasia's poor form, but football matches are not played on paper. We'll just have to play our best, and hope for a win.

BBC World News.

"Good Evening and welcome to BBC World News. For the past few days we have been focusing on the St. Lucoa national football team. Today they recorded their third win of the tournament, in a 2-0 victory. We will be discussing the increase in St. Lucoa strips sales in Britain. The St. Lucoa national team, has never been well-known or popular, but ever since the start of the Copa Gaveo their strip sales have increased in Britain. Now the most likely explanation for this is because St. Lucoa are basically owned by Britain, so the British can relate to the islanders slightly. Another reason is that St. Lucoa are the underdogs in this tournament, so the more games they win the more strips will be sold we assume. Britain has been swept with St. Lucoa fever, as a total of 7 million viewers tuned in to watch St. Lucoa in their latest match."

"St. Lucoa have the support of Britain and the Caribbean and they are using the support to fuel their match performances. St. Lucoa are not a big team and the never will be, but if they could even win their group, then I'm sure they would be remembered in the history books."

"In other news, the Prime Minister..............."

Richard Burton: "Fences can be cut or climbed Lieutenant."

From the LBC (Lunar Broadcasting Network)

"It seems hopeless unfortunately, and we didn't have enough time to make a comeback. The LRI lost to Amelio, Sport scored the lone goal late in the game, but it wasn't enough."

"It's dissapointing, we played hard, but we were outbeat by a competitive team Amelio. At this point we still need to go out and play our best and win or go home." Coach Klingspony commented

"I wish it could've been better, but you're not gonna win everytime and well, it wasn't meant to be this time, but I sure as heck ain't giving up." Sport said after the game.

"They lost 2-1 today against Amelia, they realize, they either have to win big, or go home. They sit 2nd to last in Group A. This is Brian Stallions reporting"

St. Lucoa Tribune.

"John Fairbanks' Red and White Army, was the chant the St. Luoca fans were singing in the city centres of Slembana. The fans had every right to be happy, St. Lucoa were top of their group and looked on course to reach the quarter finals. The fans that had made the trip to Slembana were having a great time, they were singing loudly and enjoying each others company, but at the same time they were respecful to the local population. For most of the fans this competition is a chance for them to travel to new lands to see their team play. The fans have been well behaved and they are a credit to St. Lucoa."

"The sight of thousands of St. Lucoans going to the match is a magnificant one. The colours Red, Green and White are scattered all over the place and the noise of the fans is incredible. The fans of St. Lucoa and the players did not expect their tournament to get off to such a great start. Their mind-set is still, anything that is'nt a loss is a bonus. Maybe it is this mind-set that had made St. Lucoa successful in this tournament, as other teams have came in with high hopes and they have not done very well."

"We can be certain that the next St. Lucoa match will be a good one and win, lose or draw, the supporters will be with the team all the way."

St. Lucoa Tribune.

Today the St. Lucoa loyal were out in force. We all know that the crowd sung the national anthem and "Abide with me". The crowd were fired up and so were the players, as in the 5th minute, Joe Benson slotted one home with a well time volley, he recieved the ball from Batson and needed no prompting to to score St. Lucoa's first of the match.

Many have said St. Lucoa's football is boring and conservative, but the team came out all gun's blazing, as 10 minutes later Jacob Simonton tackled Anton Jeowa in the Amelio half. Simonton snatched the ball and was challenged by Victor Rios, Simonton done a few step-overs and left the defender for dead. He was one-on-one with the keeper and Simonton wasted no time in placing the ball in the bottom corner. 2-0 St. Lucoa. The crowd were very pleased with this magnificant start.

Amelio kicked the ball off, but they could'nt seem to hold on to it for very long. Veteran George Huntsley pushed up into the Amelio box before a corner was whipped in by Batson. Huntsley connected with the ball via his head and sent the ball towards goal. The ball smacked off of the bar, but Joe Benson was there to tap it in and score a poachers goal. 3-0 and the crowd sensed that this game was over before it began.

St. Lucoa held on to the ball for a few minutes and waited for an opening to occur. The break-through was found when a long ball was played up by Pedro Sanchez, which was flicked on by Charles Huppberry and the ball landed at the feet of Simonton. Simonton ran with the ball and was closed down by Herman Franco, Simonton passed to an un-marked Joe Benson, who curled the ball into the roof of the net. The keeper had no chance and this game was turning in to a walk-over. 4-0.

Amelio kicked off and held posession for a while, but this did not worry St. Lucoa, as they were 4-0 up. Amelio player Pablo Allone played a long and hopeful ball up field, which was not dealt by Simon Gillingham. His mistake allowed striker Brad Smith to be in on goal. Pedro Sanchez came off of his line, but Smith blasted a shot in to the top corner and Amelio had a small chance. 4-1.

The 44th minute came and St. Lucoa again held on to the ball. Huntsley seen an unmarked Smith and played a fast ball along the ground to him. Smith trapped the ball and played a nice through ball to Jacob Simonton, who had made a great run. Simonton again proved why he was selected for the team, as he hammered the ball past the keeper. The Amelio resistance was stamped out and St. Lucoa were again back in control. 5-1 St. Lucoa.

Half-time came and went and St. Lucoa kicked off, sensing that Amelio's defencive line was weak. Alvarez played a dipping ball between Anton Jeowa and Herman Franco. The two defenders had a collapse in communication, as they both went for the ball. The end result was both defenders on the ground and Smith in on goal. Graeme Smith was calm as the keeper came out, but Smith hooked the ball in past the keeper. It was a scrappy goal, but it was 6-1.

Amelio tried to play some football, but St. Lucoa shut them out. Amelio had very few chances in the second half. Shorprey and Batson passed the ball between them, as they worked the ball up the pitch. Eventually they reached the edge of the box, where Shorprey let fly and screamer of a shot, which the keeper dived for, but was no where near saving it. Game over. 7-1.

In the 87th minute Amelio again played a long ball up to Brad Smith, who controlled the ball beautifully and before nay defenders could get anywhere near him he took a shot at goal. Sanchez dived, but the shot was too fast and too powerful. A great goal. 7-2.

In injury time, Bartington played a through ball to Simonton, who beat Jeowa, Simonton then played the ball to Benson, who was never going to miss. Benson cought the ball on the volley and it flew past the keeper. 8-2 St. Lucoa it finished and the crowd really did party after this match.

This was a great victory for us, we have again silenced our critics and we are top of our group. It looks like we are bound for the Quarter-Finals! What a great day.

Slembanan team update

Since we last updated you on how we were doing in the 4th Copa Gaveo, we have played two more games in the tournament. We drew the first game, but won the second.

The first game ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw with Anollasia, a nation which has just changed its flag. Val Kylx, our brilliant star striker, gave us the lead in the 34th minute with a great volley, but Anollasia equalized in the 79th minute, when their star striker, George Michaels, headed past our goalkeeper, Toby Gapman, from 6 yards. We tried to hit back after the equalizer, with our players raining down shots on Anollasia's goal, but we sadly couldn't score again and win 2-1. What makes it more disappointing is that the game was our second successive draw in the tournament. In addition, Anollasia had lost all their games up until their match with us. (OOC: This match was the last in which I used the standard style modifier as Anollasia's style modifier during scorination, as I now know their style modifier, having not even taken a peek at Anollasia's squad during the tournament so far.)

The second game was against Drachmae. We won 2-0 to get ourselves back on track in the tournament. A 25th minute Kylx volley put us 1-0 up, before Eddie Barlow, our other striker, toe-poked past Drachmae's goalkeeper, Elias Stefanos, in the 86th minute, giving us a 2-0 win.

We will have a bye on the next matchday, before facing the might St Lucoa in our final group stage game. The game will be very tough, as the St Lucoans have been thrashing teams at will so far in the tournament, despite playing as a more defensive team. But we'll try our hardest to get a win.

(OOC: This was written on the Slembanan FA's website (http://www.slembananfa.slm) after Slembana's match with Drachmae in the fourth Copa Gaveo.)

St. Lucoa Tribune.

"John Fairbanks' Red and White army invaded the near by towns and cities, as thousands of supporter get ready for St. Lucoa's next match. The Caribbean team are top of their group and look set to be in the Quarter-Finals. The St. Lucoa fans have been pleasantly socked, as their team has done so well. The St. Lucoans destroyed their last opponents 8-2 in their last match. Suddenly from being the under-dogs St. Lucoa are the team to beat. Again there was no trouble from the St. Lucoa supporters after the match and I am sure that the Slembana people will be happy to have us back in their lovely nation. St. Lucoa's fans and team have done the nation proud and they will both surley be remembered in history for their great performances and behaviour."

Everything goes to plan for 1000suns

Estope 0 - 4 Thousandsuns (Gaveo Cup Grp B)

In a stunning performance, Thousandsuns demolished Estope 4 - 0 in the Gaveo Cup Group B match at Slembana. Central midfielder Alex Stark showed a sign of things to come though as he nearly gifted Thousandsuns a goal in the 6th minute. Midfielder Rueben Alzaga gave Thousandsuns the lead with a long range curling shot in the 12th minute.

It was a superb solo effort and Rueben Alzaga looked delighted. Winger Donte Kovack doubled Thousandsun's lead with a close range finish which was timed impeccably in the 21st minute.

Elliot Notto scored with a finish tucked away with consummate ease in the 61st minute to extend the lead further. When Joshua Sanford gave away a penalty, Cartello Izzatoft confidently stepped up to score the opportunity.
