(OOC: DBK Radio 1 is Slembana's flagship sports radio station. It broadcasts all sorts of sports played all around the NS world, from football and handegg to tennis and badminton. This is the radio commentary of Slembana's game in the semi-finals of the third Copa Gaveo, played in Gaveo. The game ended at Slembana 1 Free Swiss States 4. The match was played on 13 February 2014 Slembanan time.)

(Key: YX is Yuppë Xandélo, LB is Liam Bardsley.)

YX: Hello listeners, you're listening to DBK Radio 1, the best sports radio station in Slembana. I'm Yuppë Xandélo, and alongside me is Liam Bardsley. The commentary we have this Thursday afternoon is of a football match. It is of our main national football teams match in the semi-finals of the third Copa Gaveo, played at Estadio Cádiz, with the match against Free Swiss States. The match looks even – what do you think, Liam?

LB: You’re right, Yuppë. It does look even, but we’ll hopefully win.

YX: We’re lining up in our traditional 4-1-3-2 formation, playing in our traditional red shirts, green shorts, and yellow socks, and playing from right to left in the first half. Our goalkeeper is Toby Gapman. In defence, we have Callum Potts, Gavin Stockwell, Don Adobe, and Norris Rawlinson. Our defensive midfielder is Follin Maxet, with our attacking midfielder, Jyvx Dagens, being flanked by Finlay Yalnif on the right, and Yuppë Tárnix on the left. Up front, we have Val Kylx and Eddie Barlow.

Meanwhile, Free Swiss States are lining up in their traditional 4-4-2 formation. They have Nicholas Jayet in goal. Their defenders are D. Borgorian, Maddie Kytle, F. Ferraris, and N. Deparksi. Their midfield players are Donovan Menelle, A. Bel, L. Eries, and Gordon du-Lusavik. Completing their line-up are their two strikers, A. Fonti and Daniel Artémis.

(There is a five-minute break for the national anthems. After the anthems have been played (and sung by the players), the coin toss occurs.)

YX: The coin-toss takes place...and Free Swiss States win it! They choose to kick-off.

(Goal 1: Daniel Artémis, 4 minutes, Slembana 0-1 Free Swiss States)

YX: Deparksi...gets the ball. Plays it to Eries. Eries. Lobs it into the box. It finds Artémis...who fires home! We’re behind!

LB: Our defenders weren’t alert for that goal. Poor defending has leaked us another goal.

(Goal 2: Val Kylx, 13 minutes, Slembana 1-1 Free Swiss States)

YX: Deparksi advances forward...but he’s been tackled by Potts. Potts plays it to Yalnif. Yalnif speeds down the wing. Crosses it into Kylx...WHO SCORES! GREAT GOAL! A BICYCLE KICK, AND WE’RE NOW LEVEL!

LB: Val Kylx scores goal after goal after goal, as I’ve always said. He’s a fantastic player. He’s only eighteen, but he’s just a world class player, who scores world class goals.

(Goal 3: Toby Gapman (own goal), 44 minutes, Slembana 1-2 Free Swiss States)

YX: Fonti advances forwards, and shoots. It’s going wide...oh no! It hits Gapman’s hip, and it’s a goal! Disaster! We're 2-0 down!

LB: That’s such a soft goal to concede. Toby Gapman will be disappointed with that, especially because it’s an own goal.

(Val Kylx missed penalty, 51 minutes, Slembana 1-2 Free Swiss States)

YX: Dagens will the ball. Plays it fantastically through to Kylx...who’s tackled nastily by Maddie Kytle, and it’s a penalty to us! The referee is going to send off Kytle too! Free Swiss States are down to ten men, and we have a great chance to equalize!

(Val Kylx steps up to take the penalty. After the referee blows his whistle to signify that Kylx can take the penalty, the teenage striker begins his run up.)

Kylx steps up to take it...and misses! Jayet saves it, we’ve missed the penalty, and Free Swiss States’ fans are going wild!

LB: Val was very, very, very unlucky to miss that. It was a great penalty, but Jayet somehow kicked it away in mid-air with his heel.

(Goal 4: Donovan Menelle, 69 minutes, Slembana 1-3 Free Swiss States)

YX: It’s Borgorian on the ball. Plays it down the wing to Menelle. Menelle. Bolts forward. Menelle shoots...and scores! It’s a great goal, but we’re now 3-1 down!

LB: That may be a great goal, Yuppë, just as you said, but we should have closed him down. Because we didn’t, Gapman should have palmed it away. But it’s now 3-1 to Free Swiss States, which is a big problem.

(Goal 5: Gordon du-Lusavik, 89 minutes, Slembana 1-4 Free Swiss States)

YX: Deparksi runs down the wing. Crosses it in...it hits off du-Lusavik, and it’s...a goal! Oh no! A 4-1 loss. Game over.

LB: Toby Gapman should have probably saved that. It’s another soft goal we’ve conceded.

(After 3 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match, the referee blows his whistle. The Slembanan fans boo their own players off the pitch.)

YX: Well...that’s us out of the Copa Gaveo. We've still done well, though, and we can still gain some consolation in the third-place match.

LB: Yeah. Better luck for us in the next competition!

Donovan Menelle: "This is My Last Game"
Donovan Menelle, the six year captain of the Swiss national team and player who has served on the team since he was an 18-year old, today made the surprising and shocking announcement that the final against long-time rivals Gaveo in the Gaveoan cup would be his last. "I've thought about this a lot," he said in a media statement today, "And I've decided that it's time to put an end to things. I have two beautiful boys, who need a father in their life, and I'm planning to spend a lot more time with them. I can retire knowing that a new group of Swiss footballers are ready to step up."

He has one more game to play, one which could give the Swiss their first international win. But first, they need to get past a solid Gaveoan team, who only last year slipped by the Swiss to win the gold. Will Menelle's last match win him the medal? All eyes will be on the coming showdown.

To the finals!

Gaveo 2-1 Thousandsuns (2-1 agg),
Was the final result in the tough semi-final battle between Gaveo and Thousandsuns. While Gaveo prevailed the players admit this is one of their toughest matches in a long time. Here is a recap in a rain-soaked Cortino...
(National Anthems Play)
Okay here we go!
(4th minute)
Cesar is running he is... Fouled! Oh he looks like he is hurt and Bru Yo Chan looks mad, and he PUNCHES the referee! He gives a red card to Bru and Jarrod Andrzejewski. Bru is forced off the field and Jarrod Andrzejewski walks on his own. Meanwhile Cesar, is on the floor in the driving rain, the medics will pick him up with a stretcher and will be evaluated to see his injury. Santiago Rojas will sub in and this game looks really bad.
(11th minute)
Sebastian runs and he is alone and GOL! GOL DE CADIZ! 1-0 Gaveo! He runs to the crowd and bows... Gaveo started first!
(33rd minute)
Santiago Rojas fouls Elliot Notto and the Thousandsuns kicker is up, he shoots and his shot is BLOCKED! By Joaquin Cadiz!
(Halftime)
And that concludes the first half, 1-0 Gaveo. Here is the update on the Cesar injury, he will be out on the final game and maybe the first match in the World Cup if he doesn't heal up soon. The injury is unknown but we assume its a ACL tear. Ouch.
(49th minute)
Mitchel Wyand centers the ball Elliot Notto SCORES! GOL! GOLAZO, AZO, AZO de Elliot Notto! 1-1 tie!
(75th minute *rain stops*)
Sebastian centers it to Santiago Rojas and gol! GOL! GOL DE GAVEO! GOL DE Santiago Rojas! 2-1 Gaveo
(90+ Game over)
Thousandsuns tries to scores with Elliot Notto and it blocked by Joaquin Cadiz! And the corner kick is no! The whistle blew game over! Crowds on both sides boo and demand that, no game over. Gaveo wins 2-1.

Gaveo beats Thousandsuns 2-1, now we have a rematch of Copa Gaveo II championship will Free Swiss States win and get revenge and the gold or will Gaveo get a back to back win. Watch tomorrow!

DBK Sports - Football - Slembana 0-0 Thousandsuns (AET, Slembana win 5-2 on penalties)

Written by Pierre Darezi

Our match in third place play-off of the third Copa Gaveo has ended in a 0-0 draw with Thousandsuns, with us winning 5-2 on penalties.

The first half was equal. Our best chance of the first half was a curling Val Kylx free-kick that was palmed away by the Thousandsuns goalkeeper, Morgan Delaplane. This was on 24 minutes, and it came shortly after Eddie Barlow had hit the bar for us. Thousandsuns had their best chance in the 15th minute, with Elliot Notto, their star striker, hitting the post with a bicycle kick.

The second half saw no goals for either team either. Notto had the best chance of the second half, with his 79th-minute header being palmed away by our goalkeeper, Toby Gapman.

Both teams tried to get a goal in extra time, but the efforts of both us and Thousandsuns were in vain, with a penalty shootout required.

We won the shootout 5-2, with Kylx stroking home our winning penalty.

The Swiss "Ghost" Scores Deciding Goal
In a tightly contested match, the States emerged victorious over a strong Gavoean team thanks to a late score by a player who is always considered a wild card, Alido Bel. The 23-year old celebrated his recent birthday in enormous fashion, suddenly sprinting forward in the 78th minute to break free from the defenders. With only the goalkeeper to beat, Bel sent a low groung shot into the right corner, barely beating the Gaveoan goalkeeper who dived, his fingers barely brushing the ball, but not enough to keep it out. In the next fifteen minutes of play, the Gaveoans made several attempts to equalize, but proficient Swiss goalkeeper Nicholas Jayet kept the the Swiss ahead, and eventually, winners of the trophy.
