Dudlek Rugby Grounds
Image
Capacity: varies
Location: Dudlek

Nothing more than a local park turned in to a rugby venue. The SRU team Dudlek Cotdelapomais use this field as the home site for their matches; while having won three SRU championships in the past, the team, which is composed of local ex-pat Cotdelapomais hence the name, feel they should remain an amateur squad, not needing any special facilities, for "the love of the game."

Steinbeck Field
Image
Capacity: 19,800
Location: Gilley

While Gilley is known more for its football, rugby has carved out its own little niche in the area, with but league and union squads forming here at Steinbeck Field. While not the most prolific of stadium, The 'Beck does offer that opportunity to sit as close as possible to your most hated players, heckling them as often as you can before you grow hoarse.

North Shore Stadium
Image
Capacity: 22,000
Location: Dune Heights

Artifical city Dune Heights, located just 2 hours up the coast from Montbenoit, is home to the North Shore stadium, a rugby only facility that was used only one other time, when Saugeais hosted the 9th Rugby League World Cup. Dune Heights has tried numerous times to coax both rugby federations to set up a team in the city because of the size and convenient location of the stadium, however the appeals have fallen on deaf ears and, for the time being, no expansion team will be set up there.

Franklin Grounds
Image
Capacity: 24,600
Location: Metalton

Built on the ground of the old Franklin Ironworks factory, Franklin Grounds is also home to both league and union rugby squads. While retaining the small, quaint atmosphere of Steinbeck or North Shore, The Grounds have also recently been upgraded to house bigger press boxes and installed a handful of luxury suites, used mostly by the team's owners. The upgrade has done little to affect either teams chances at winning their leagues, though, as they continue to stay mid-table in their respective standings.

Titan World Cup Park
Image
Capacity: 28,450
Location: Les Alliés

Another purpose built park, Titan World Cup Park was also built back when Saugeais hosted the Rugby League World Cup, and has been kept in pristine condition throughout its lifespan. Les Alliés Legion's continued success in league and international play only help matters, as the club is one of the richest rugby sides in the country. It is also the first rugby stadium in the country to offer fully scale restaurants facilities, while many rugby pundits think that detracts from the actual atmosphere of the game, the owners have been quoted saying it boosts attendance figures, as those seats are also counted in the final tally.

STAI Stadium
Image
Capacity: 32,000
Location: Bugny

Nestled amongst the trees of the Saugeais National Forest, the Saugeais Transports Aériens International (STAI) Stadium has seen the most success out of any Saugeain rugby stadium in the history of the sport: 5 combined titles between the two clubs that call the stadium home. While also being one of the oldest stadiums in the nation, the Bugny Builder's committee has stated that "the stadium is still structurally sound to withstand the extra exertion that will be present at the current time."

Lowlands Stadium
Image
Capactiy: 51,000
Location: Longview

Initially used to coax the football club Tornadoes onto its grounds, the Lowlands Stadium eventually procured its own rugby union team to call its own just recently. While the team on the pitch may not be the best in the world or even the country, its not a bad place to sit as watch a game, as either end of the stadium opens up to give a spectator beautiful views of sprawling Saugeais countryside on one end, and the gradually rising Longview skyline on the other.

Vauxen Park
Image
Capacity: 53,000
Location: Arçon

A couple miles due east of the downtown Arçon area sits Vauxen Park, a magnificent piece of architecture that houses just the Arçon RFC for the union side. There have been ongoing plans to try and move the Arçon football club into the same building to cut down on total empty space within the city, but every time the proposal is brought up in city council, it is almost immediately shot down; the owners of both sides have disagreed to stadium sharing continuously.

Stade Jean Comtois
Image
Capacity: 76,500
Location: Montbenoit

The mother of all rugby stadiums in Saugeais, Stade Jean Comtois began life as Jeanfield, a 66,000 all seater that housed the Montbenoit Old Boys Club of the union code. But after hosting the final of the Rught League World Cup, as well as the Old Boys winning the Seasogs international championship for the first time ever. an upgrade was called upon to further to fanbase and the income. The Stade spent two years under a complete retrofit, as well as adding reinforcement to current structural supports to prepare for the additional seats (and with it, fans). The entire project cost the team and the taxpayers tens of millions of francs, bu after all was said and done, both parties have a stadium they can be proud to show the world. Now with the advent of the Rugby World Cup, Jean Comtois, the founder of the Old Boys club and namesake of the stadium, has announced an official opening ceremony to be held at the start of the first Saugeais match held in the World Cup.

Group F matches played at Titan World Cup Park

RUGBY RAMBLINGS

So once again, ruggers invade our shores. This time, it seems they've folded the league they were playing in those many years ago and formed a union; bloody athletes and their union, always wanting to hold out for more money. They ain't getting mine, since I'm not going! Though I would've liked to just move on and do something else, like not watch rugby, I've been charged by my editor to write up about the upcoming World Cup. Rugby World Cup? They have one of those? I thought a sport had to have a zillion people watching it to be considered for a regional tournament, much less a World Cup. But I guess them union people gathered together and decided on this long ago, as this is going to be the 19th edition of this so called "World Cup". Our nation has become 4th best in the world somehow; you'd have thought with our rankings so high, I'd have heard something about it. Just goes to show you how much I care. Anywho, with previous winners Kiaser Colonies in the field, along with Rhodesiah and Swartaz and Polar Islandstates, you know teams I have heard something vaguely about on the rugby side, it's a wonder if we'll even get close to the Final of this thing.

Pundits are saying we have an easy group, but in rugby, is anything really easy? I mean, for the 10 minutes of film I've watched on the game, it take 6 or 7 men half that time to move the ball 10 yards. How is every game not over by halftime, with the ref stopping it because of boredom? Back to the group list, we have Aels, Bordurian, Jahava Islands, and Reen. So "Rushmore Games host", "nobody", "nobody", aaaaand "nobody". Remind me how this sport came to have a World Cup again? With a whole load of nobodies, I'd place all my money on Kiaser Colonies to repeat, as much as the Saugeain fans don't want to think that; we probably won't get past the group stage, knowing our damn luck. But hey, I'm the writer, printed opinion is better than most, and right now, this opinion is rather lengthy in terms of what I usually write. Now that I've just about reached the word limit, let me leave you in closing: I can't wait for the proper World Cup to come back into play; our boys will be styling next year! Peace.

The Epiphany.
A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool. For this reason surely I must be a wise man for it takes a fool to get into my situation. To become a drug dealer had to be the biggest mistake of my life. Five long years ago at the age of twenty two, facing certain eviction from my measly flat, I made the dreadful decision to manufacture and sell crystal meth. Just to try get my finances in order. It wasn't long before I had achieved this but I was making money faster than I had in any job I previously held. I got greedy. I wanted more than a flat to my name. So I continued, each day brought forth more risks and greater rewards. In my ignorance I forgot that the city's drug needs were controlled by the gangs. Sure enough the inevitable yet unfathomed outcome occurred and after a vigorous beating I was given a choice. Cease making crystal meth and join my captors gang, or death. Not much of a choice. For three and a half years I transported just about every substance prohibited by Kiaser law to various spots around the nation. Life was good, eating fine foods, wearing fine clothes and living in a top of the market house. But then roughly two months ago we got word of a big deal importing cocaine from Saugeais during the rugby world cup. After careful planning it was decided that it was I who should sent over. My only instruction were that I was to meet with a Trevor du Blanc at every Kiaser Colonies match and bring what he handed me to an abandoned house outside the city. And then today, it hit me. The damage this would cause to the lives of so many people across The Kiaser Colonies. The risks, the punishments and the slim chance of success. Now as I stand in front of the open window of my top floor hotel room I debate whether or not I should jump. Then I step back and clap my hands over my face in disgust. There is only one day until the start of the World Cup and one week until the first Kiaser's match and the first deal. Six more nights to ponder the question.
Winner of Rugby World Cup 18 and R7WC 2.

I am an anarchist/libertarian socialist. Policies of my country roughly reflect my views IRL. Click below for more information on my political views, which are specifically about my views with relation to the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
FUCK ISRAEL! I support peace, therefore I stand with Palestine. I want a bi-national solution, a state in which Jews and Palestinians can coexist peacefully. The onus is on Israel to stop this - it can do it anytime by bringing a ceasefire and ending apartheid.

Another Rugby World Cup dawns, and with it, a chance for a usually football-obsessed nation to be exposed to the image of 15 burly men running round a pitch, beating the crap out of each other for a leather egg. Or as we purists like to call it, rugby. Not that it's popular knowledge around the nation, but the Swartazian national rugby team actually holds quite a decent rapport within the world of rugby, and could possibly be only a few good solid performances away from lifting the trophy at the Stade Jean Comtois stadium in Montbenoit in a few weeks time. We're now going to take you through a few players who will be key in any success Swartaz are to have.

Key Player 1

Name: Tuomas Östberg
Age: 27
Club: Gaduz Geico's (Joining Goteborg Giants after the World Cup)

Position: Openside Flank

Tuomas is a player who has really matured in his game over the last few years. Long touted as the forward of his generation in the Swartaz domestic scene for a battling, energetic, never-say-die attitude, he has finally brought his whole game together in a very effective way, right on the eve of the 19th RWC. Coming off the back of a terrific club season in Gaduz, in which he won great plaudits and picked up both Player of the year and Fans Player of the year, his hard hitting and energy will be key attributes when it comes to the breakdown, especially in later stages of the competition, and the fact he is always the first person to the ball without exception gives the talented back line a great platform to work from.

Key Player 2

Name: Oskar Persson
Age: 23
Club: Storvansten Saints

Position: Number 8/Utility Back Rower

Despite being the rookie in terms of age in the experienced Swartazian pack, this charismatic back rower has everything you're looking for in a number eight. Fast, strong, touch tackling, not afraid of taking the ball in hand, and technically perfect in breakdown situations. His partnership with fellow back rower Tuomas Östberg will be key in deciding how much ball Swartaz do win from breakdown situations, as they are hands down the best forwards in the pack, and their influence is key, especially in tight matches where ball retention is essential. Oskar is under a bit of added pressure, after having a shaky season in the Super 12, but he can finally lay the criticisms to rest with a good tournament. Also a potential match-winner with his powerful darting runs on the ball in the oppositions 22.

Key Player 3

Name: Benidikt Ljunberg
Age: 29
Club: Mauntenborg Mountaineers

Position: Right-Wing

At 29, Ljunberg should be right at his peak. However, despite an eye for the try line, he has never lived up to his billing as 'Wonder-Winger' when he was a youngster forcing his way into the illustrious Goteborg Giants squad. His try to game ratio would hint that he arguably has, but he has always been poor defensively and technically. Until now. Coming off a fantastic season at struggling Mauntenborg, arguably keeping the recently-formed outfit in the Super 12, he is in great stead to hopefully set the tournament alight. As long as defensive frailties aren't brought to the light, there may be a long queue of teams vying for his signature after the end of this tournament.

Key Player 4

Name: Victor Jackal
Age: 26
Club: Goteborg Giants

Position: Scrum Half

We would love to make out that we haven't saved the best until last, but we quite clearly have. Jackal is the undisputed talisman of Swartazian rugby, and it's hard not to see why, with a ridiculously good try scoring record considering he is a Scrum Half, tackling ability to bring down the biggest prop peeling off the ruck or maul, drop-kicking ability that can turn a match on it's head with ease, and the best inspirational skills on the pitch. Another season in which he has excelled at the Giants, helping them to a third successive Super 12 title, leads him perfectly into this tournament, which he is expected to tear apart after again picking up Swartazian player of the year, and now handed the distinction of being team captain. His try scoring and kicking abilities may come in very handy, but it will be his leadership skills that will be most valued, especially when the team are under heavy pressure. The king of keeping a cool head will have to make sure it stays in-tact if he's going to lift that trophy in a few weeks time.

The team gets a welcome bye through game-week one, welcome as it gives extra time for vital preparations to be made to the team. The mood in the camp seems less fractious than it has done in past editions of the World Cup, with team-building exercises taking the fore for much of the buildup to this tournament. Hopefully, we can use these advantages to our absolute advantage and finally come away from a Rugby World Cup with something to show from it.

OOC: Don't forget this RP is for matchday 2, and NOT for matchday 1. Thanks!

Can Kulverint Finally Overcome Curse?

Kulverint, a nation with grand Rugby tradition. In union, we've made the semi finals on two occasions, finishing a close second after being class of the field by a country mile in RWC 16, held in Mytannion, before finishing a "disappointing" fourth in the previous tournament held in Darmen. In Sevens, we've come second in one edition, and won the shield in the other. A rather impressive list, then, at first glance, but upon further inspection it becomes immediately obvious what the issue is: Despite consistently being at the top for 5 or 6 years now, we have never got further than second. The final push just seems to elude the team, and that's something world-famous manager Tommi Jakinen seeks to fix with experience: More friendlies, more consistent starters, more club-based formations. That, says he, is the key.

He wasn't lying, either, with Mr. Jakinen's squad for this time including the same players who, despite very little experience, drove to fourth last time and should now be hitting their primes, as well as a few huge stars (Farransza and Berdoas spring to mind), whose debuts were both oh-so-long-ago back in RWC 13, Sorthern Northland. This will be either their last or second last tournaments.

Group
Kulverint (4)
Megadia (12)
Thatius (UR)
His Great Kingdom (UR)
Bongo Johnson (UR)

The group stages themselves will not require much, or indeed any, effort to pass through. With an almost guaranteed qualification due to only two ranked nations being present in the group, Jakinen will likely rest some key names for these games, and when he does bring them out against Megadia they should, hopefully, remind the world why their official ranking of 4th is three positions lower than reality. Such are the maths. Mr. Jakinen is likely to spend his other three "free" games mixing up the squad (particularly the forwards) to see if he can find that game-winning combination.

Schedule
Kulverint's group stage matches take place at the STAI Stadium, Bugny, Saugeais, with a capacity of 32,000, providing a relaxed environment for Kulverint to focus in.

MD1: Bye
MD2: Kulverint vs. Megadia
MD3: Kulverint vs. Bongo Johnson
MD4: Kulverint vs. His Great Kingdom
MD5: Kulverint vs. Thatius

Squad
The squad for the first match against Megadia is as follows:

(No. - Name - Caps - Points - Club)
1: Tommi Koulevski - 8 - 5 - Der Kapital Brachtia
2: Ekke Miroslavi - 102 - 20 - Der Kapital Brachtia
3: Mika Jundara - 22 - 0 - Dragonai Brachtia Transversa
4: Matti Jarro-Timaaten - 7 - 0 - Kuilliyakillastromatadrianarämstandachtianarütligfatren Brachtia
5: Junni Lapparski - 11 - 10 - Der Kapital Brachtia
6: Tommi Ulakarviks - 15 - 0 - Kulverint Schkots
7: Jos Markalavska - 25 - 15 - KNVB
8: Berredout Makkalouska - 0 - 0 - KNVB
9: Jos Ferana - 16 - 35 - KNVB
10: Jeroen Berdoas - 135 - 1285 - KNVB
11: Christophan Dominica - 101 - 233 - Der Kapital Brachtia
12: Jaani Möäron - 11 - 58 - Kulverint Schkots
13: Petrii Laatikainen - 6 - 5 - KNVB
14: Wilhelmus Farransza - 130 - 774 - KNVB
15: Daanjik Moultaravsta - 8 - 21 - Kulverint Schkots

16: Heynza Milltaranna - 4 - 0 - VDS Rugby Brachtia
17: Jülltart@ Kré@na - 1 - 0 - Kulverint Schkots
18: Johnaki Missenta - 4 - 0 - Dragonai Brachtia Transversa
19: Jody Zubaur - 21 - 12 - Rotterdam Apples (Cyborg Holland)
20: Wilhelm Drackardia - 0 - 0 - DPDK Brachtia
21: Arie Qweraszs - 3 - 0 - KNVB
22: Adrian@ Rédräna - 2 - 0 - KNVB

As can be seen, KNVB, former champions of the world rugby club cup, as it is known in Kulverint, but known internationally as the Seasogs Championship, dominates the back line, and with famous faces such as Farransza, Möäron, Dominica & Berdoas in the line, surely Kulverint can't be stopped this time?

The President of the Javahe Islands Rugby Union, Jamin Wiijewan, walks up to the podium, a Saugeain newspaper in hand. He begins to speak.
"Fellow Javahem rugby enthusiasts, a great charge has been leveled against our team and our country."
He holds up the paper.
"This document, released by the hosts of the tournament Saugeais, contains an affront to Javahem sport. There are two main issues I have with this Brian Michaels fellow who wrote the document."
He points at the offending sections of the article.
"One: He has misspelled the name of our country! Two: he called our team and by extension, our country nobody! Not even just the only nobody, but second in a list of nobodies! These are mistakes!"
He throws the paper down.
"We are the Javahe Islands, Mr. Michaels, with an 'e' at the end! You have insulted the fine people of this fine country by not showing them the respect they deserve and looking up how their country's name is spelled! What are you, stupid?"
There is a pause. No noises escape the mouths of those in the audience. A chair squeaks. Wiijewan's hands grip the podium and his elbows are bent outward. He is sweating profusely and breathing heavily.
"And Mr. Michaels... We are not nobody. We may be that country with the fruity flag. We may be the country whose name and language sound like something a 15-year old made up in an hour on his laptop in his bedroom. But we are not nobody! Long live the Javahe Islands!"
There is a round of applause. Some are standing, out of their seats, wiping tears from their eyes. The Javahem national anthem plays through loudspeakers, and Wiijewan steps down from the stage. Tonight it starts.
