Men's Singles Tournament
Round of 16[pre]A Dumpty (BLD) 21 14 22

H Juke (JKR) 21 11 17
D Roberts (SLL) 17 21 21

C Aaron/A Aaron (SLL) 21 14 21
A Gregors/D Quince (YRB) 17 21 11

(Sorry for forgetting the quote. Kind of deleted it and didn't want to go back. We all know who really made this.)

Both Roberts and the Aarons advanced to the quarterfinals last night. Roberts defeated H Juke 17-21, 21-11, 21-17 while the Aarons won in three sets over Gregors/Quince, 21-17, 14-21, and 21-11.

Roberts said: "I'm so happy to get this far! Just two more wins to the podium!"
The Aaron sisters were too out of breath from screaming to comment. Their coach, Alexandra Jay, said: "I'm proud of these girls and I hope we can get further!"

It was the first playoff game won by any Super-Llamaland athlete.

Badminton News

We've got Badminton News! Farf players on the Second World Badminton Championship are doing really well. We have one entrant left on each category. Our experts say we have the highest chances of winning on Mixed Doubles category, but we're all confident that Conda Mabalebe and Lounoi Serö will at least get a medal.

Lounoi Serö defeated Dan in 2 sets, imposing his ability over an inferior opponent who could do nothing to prevent the inminent lost awaiting him. But maybe we're exaggerating a bit.

Anyways, Serö will play against Roberts from Super-Llamaland, a player who already lost against him in thr groups, but who has shown to be an overall good player. Serö admitted on a press conference he was really excited about going agiainst Roberts again. He said his match against Roberts on the groups was one of the most exciting games he played recently. When asked about his chances of winning the tournament, he said they were "rather high" and that he was confident of himself, as he had seen almost no match until now on every match, with the exception of Roberts, who also lost to him regardless.

Conda Mabalebe, who qualified as one of the worst female single player, won in 2 sets over Rooney, advanicing to the quarter finals.

All Farf matches:
L Serö (FDS) 21 21
L Dan (RSC) 12 18

Serö was too much for Dan, he just couldn't keep up.

M Rooney (BLD) 16 19
C Mabalebe (FDS) 21 21

Mabalebe was superior overall, but Rooney almost won the 2nd set.

C Jinlong/L Suiwan (RSC) 18 21 20
Ñ Fristujpas/F Yorov (FDS) 21 16 22

Fristujpas and Yorov could've easily lost this match, they're the black horses of the Men's Doubled tournament, they were expected to lose on the groups. Good for them.

M Lebella/G Miralov (FDS) 21 21
B Ku/P Xai (DYP) 14 13

Lebella and Miralov were too much for Ku and Xai, again, as they had played against them in the groups too.

E Stevens/H Rivers (LYM) 21 18 17
Y Luva/L Miñalos (FDS) 12 21 21

After a horrible first set, Luva and Miñalos managed to win a really hard match, luck was on their side.

N Hai/P Kia (DYP) vs. A Hino/S Pani (GDI)
P Harding/J Harding (WCR) vs. W Nomokanai/A Rutora (RMV)

Joni Olescu and Amir Sakhalin were celebrating getting into the quarterfinal's, they had other reason's to celebrate too. the BLA and General Stanko had been defeated and the government had re-established stability and it was announced that Bulgislavia was at the end of its crisis period. This alone was enough cause for celebration.

Despite the hype of being Bulgislavia's first international participation in sports since late 2009 not many people in Bulgislavia were tuning in to see the Badminton. However Joni and Amir did not mind too much about that and instead celebrated together with the other plays Elena and Gabita as well as meeting up with some Bulgislavian journalists and fan's at the venue shortly after the game which same them into the Quarter Final's

"We just have to remain focused, Amir you need to relax, try some breathing exercises before a game" said Joni to his much younger team mate...............

The End
This is the end for Prusai. Our two teams (one Men's Double, one Women's) have lost their 1/8 Round games. The goal has been achieved, though. Our federation is pleased due to many wins in the group stage. We wish all good to all remaining contestants!

Badminton News

We've got Badminton News! Farf players on the Second World Badminton Championship are doing well, although there are only 3 entrants left: Luva, Miñalos and Serö. Our experts still say we have the highest chances of winning on Mixed Doubles category, but we're all confident that Lounoi Serö will at least get a medal, Maballebe already underperformed by getting eliminated.

Lounoi Serö defeated Roberts in 2 sets, Serö's best performance so far. The opponent this time was rather good, but Serö showed nerves of steel to qualify to the semifinals. His chances of winning a medal are really high. Our experts say that the only real threat to Serö is Dumpty, someone from the same nation as Rooney, Beldonia, who lost against Mabalebe on the Round of 16.

Serö has been named by the Federal Council as the next subject for the title of Honour Guard. On a press conference, Serö admitted he didn't really care about it, and that he only wanted to win the golden medal. He's going to play against Antalya next match, a player who is worst than him, but should not be underestimated under any circumstances. Serö has repeatedly acknowledged Antalya as one of his favourite players this tournament, and that he is honoured to play against him.

Luva and Miñalos also qualified, but they're not getting so much recognizement as Serö.

All Farf matches:
L Serö (FDS) 21 21
D Roberts (SLL) 13 14

Serö managed to win rather easily, he performed his best match so far.

E Rothback (CYB) 21 21
C Mabalebe (FDS) 19 12

Mabalebe could've won the first set, but after losing it she just couldn't win. Deserved loss.

J Olescu/A Sakhalin (RRB) 22 18 21
Ñ Fristujpas/F Yorov (FDS) 20 21 11

Fristujpas and Yorov played 2 fantastic sets at the beginning, but their Olescu and Sakhalin were better preapared for a long match; they won the 3rd set easily.

M Lebella/G Miralov (FDS) 13 21 14
S Jacobson/R Halitoglu (ANL) 21 12 21

Lebella and Miralov lost a match in which both teams had bad moments and good moments, but one team had more good moments than the other. Deserved loss, just as deserved as Mabalebe's

L Tlo/S Zerggirl (ADN) 21 17 11
Y Luva/L Miñalos (FDS) 18 21 21

When things looked kind of dark for Luva and Miñalos, after the 1st set, they managed to win the 2nd set with luck and the 3rd one with class. Really exciting match.

Our only hope, Jacobson/Halitoglu

Anollasia was doing well in the 2nd World Badminton Championships, until we met our fate after the quarterfinals.
All of our players had been eliminated. Except for one pair. Jacobson/Halitoglu!
The nation is hoping for the best in the semifinals. If Jacobson/Halitoglu doesn't win the semifinals, they'll be eliminated as well, leaving no Anollasian players left.

Jacobson/Halitoglu had won a game in the quarterfinals, defeating Lebella/Miralov.

Sarah Jacobson had said after the game,''I really hope we can get to the finals. Maybe even possibly winning. I'd really love Anollasia to get it's first sports trophy.''

Jacobson/Halitoglu will be playing in the semifinals tomorrow night.

Final
J Olescu/A Sakhalin (RRB) vs. T Lomotai/Y Lomotai (RMV)

Maklohi Vai's two remaining teams went down to the wire in the second men's doubles semifinal, with the Lomotai brothers winning in two sets. They will face Bulgislavia's Olescu and Sakhalin in the final tomorrow, a heavily anticipated matchup. Following is a longer than normal excerpt from the post game interview.

Reporter: "Yuno, how does it feel to be going into the final?"
Yuno Lomotai: "Well, it's quite something. For my brother and I, being the first Vaians in any international final is a huge honor, and so we hope to do well. We've trained hard and played the best, as we did today, so I think we're as prepared as we could be."

Reporter: "Wakoro, could you elaborate on the singles v. doubles difference?"
Wakoro Nomokanai: "The biggest thing is having a feeling like you need to support the other person. If you lose a singles match, you have no one but yourself to blame. When you lose a doubles match, you feel like you let your partner down, and that's tough for most people. Another difference is the style of play. In singles, it's longer between shots because there's more room to cover. Conversely, in doubles there are quicker points because people are already there and so have more time to adjust and hit a better shot."

Reporter: "Ap'ano, what did you learn or observe about this match?"
Ap'ano Rutora: "Well, we were playing an amazing team, obviously one of the best in the world. We kept with it, but it's tough to have more experience because they are solely a doubles team. We both play singles and mixed doubles in addition, so there's just less practice time there anyway."
"For the glory of our people, we govern our nation freely. For the glory of Polynesia, we help and strengthen our friends. For the glory of the earth, we do not destroy what it has bestowed upon us."

Lounoi Serö looked at his opponent, he was 20 - 14 up on the 3rd set, both were nervous, on the 1st set, Serö had shown he was better, but on the 2nd one, Antalya turned things around, it was all a matter of stamina now, Serö was on an obvious advantage due to this, and it all had come to this one moment, where he was with one step on the final.
He sent the ball to Antalya's side, Antalya answered, but Serö answered with an impressive drive that left Antalya lying on the floor. After he saw the ball bounce, he had won! 17 years old and on the finals of the world championship!
He was excited about it, he knew his next opponent would be the best one he had ever played against, Dumpty from Beldonia, just as good as him, but it didn't matter, he was already on the final. He was happy.

Luva and Miñalos looked to each other, they were going to win, and easily, they were already 20 - 13 up on the 2nd set after winning the 1st one. Luva connected an impressive ace that would qualify them to the final, and it all came to an end, with that ace they had crashed Mary and Meterson's dreams, but had continued with theirs. They were on the finals after much work, they weren't famous like Serö, but they had gone all the way to the final, just as him. They were on the FINAL.

Image

And the 3 qualify

Yes, they did it. They all did it. Serö, Luva and Miñalos won their games today and qualified to the finals (please remember Luva and Miñalosplay as a team on mixed doubles). We're along with Beldonia the only nation with finalists in 2 categories. And one of those finalists will play aganist Serö on the final of the Men's Singles.
The entire nation is proud of them, not only of Serö, but of all of them. They've gone that far. Serö defeated Antalya on a rather long match in which Serö looked dominant on the 1st set, but got anhilated on the 2nd set, happily, it was all about stamina on the 3rd set, happily, as Serö won easily that last set. Dumpty, Serö's opponent, had a tough match too, but managed to win on 2 difficult sets.

Luva and Miñalos won more easily, though. They won no 2 easy sets and are now going against the black horses of the category: Juka and Iina, who won on 3 sets after playing a horrible 1st set, and winning the 2nd and 3rd set with class. Luva and Miñalos should be recognized by their work just as much as Serö.

Farf Matches:

L Serö (FDS) 21 14 21
A Antalya (YRB) 14 21 15

Serö didn't play his best match yesterday, but managed to win a difficult match to advance to the final.
Y Luva/L Miñalos (FDS) 21 21
H Mary/R Meterson (WCR) 13 15

Luva and Miñalos won an easy match. It looked like they were the only ones playing, there were 14 aces. 14!

The Aaron sisters, winner of the last New Llama Open (Christina was also second in singles) have done it again, crushing Kerelenko and Alexandreovna to advance to the finals, forty-two points away from being the world champions.

Over five thousand Llamalandians are making the trip to support the Aaron sisters.

Fan Stan Walker is one of them. Walker, 44, says he loves badminton and his wife always tunes in to the Aaron sisters when she can.

"This is very exciting for super-llamaland!" he said.

It was a hard and exciting match but in the end the Champion's were the brothers of Tu’uio Lomotai and Yuno Lomotai of Maklohi Vai
Joni Olescu and Amir Sakhalin came in second place. After the match Joni was clearly upset with a few tears but they were happy to congradulate the victors in their well earned win with and shaking and even and acknowledgements of the brother's ability

The Bulgislavian's were still proud of their badminton players and they can return home pleased that they were able to compete and get as far as they did in Bulgislavia's first international sporting appearance since 2009. Its also been a great experience and learning curve for the Bulgislavian Badminton players and the Popular Front government has allocated more funds to pour into the sporting program with some more grants to Badminton

The Bulgislavian's would especially like to thank the Host Nation Dyurtenali Poksadam for hosting a great tournament!

The Lomotai brothers became the first Vaian athletes to ever win an international event, immensely increasing the popularity of the sport in Maklohi Vai. Tu'uio said after the match, "We are just so honored by this victory. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way, and to all the opponents for giving such difficult competition. It's still sinking in right now. It's almost hard to believe."

A huge thank you to Dyurtenali Poksadam for hosting!

And they all did it!

Yes! They all did it! They all won their matches! Serö won the Men's Singles Final against Dumpty and Luva and Miñalos won the Mixed Doubles Final. Farfadillis is the unofficial winner of the WBC! Being the only one to win on 2 categories.

Coverage on the 5 finals:
Men's Singles Tournament
Final
A Dumpty (BLD) 14 22 13
L Serö (FDS) 21 20 21

Serö won the finals against Dumpty in a rather weird way: Winning 2 sets by a humillating difference, but losing the 2nd set by a tiny margin. On the 1st set, Serö swept Dumpty with ease, Dumpty couldn't stop the shuttlecock most of the time and had to start losing the 1st set. On the 2nd one, however, Serö faced some problems, Dumpty was playing better than ever, after a long 2nd set, Dumpty won 22 - 20, effectively making us wait until the 3rd set to see if we were goin to win, yes, we, everyone in Farfadillis.
Happily, due to stamina once again, Dumpty couldn't perform as well as on the 2nd set, and was smashed by Serö who was now playing his best set, winning by a large margin. This was the final in which there was the biggest difference between the 2 players: 13 points.

Women's Singles Tournament
Final
H Kraftmeyer (BLD) 11 21 20
C McLeod (KEA) 21 19 22

McLeod won against the other Beldonian finalist on the Women's Singles Tournament. McLeod showed what she was made of and smashed Kraftmeyer on the 1st set, however, on the 2nd set Kraftmeyer won by a tiny margin. It was all decided on the 3rd set, in which McLeod suffered more than expected by winning 22 - 20. The Kingdom of East America should be really proud of the badminton player they have.

Men's Doubles Tournament
Final
J Olescu/A Sakhalin (RRB) 17 21 14
T Lomotai/Y Lomotai (RMV) 21 14 21

The Lomotai brothers won a difficult match. They won the 1st set with an average margin, but then lost the 2nd set humillatingly. However, they won the 3rd set by the same difference by which they lost the 2nd set. We'd like to congrat Maklohi Vai for having such a good Men's Double team. And would like to wish them luck for the future. It should be pointed out that this is the category in which Farfadillis is the worst at.

Women's Doubles Tournament
Final
C Aaron/A Aaron (SLL) 21 21
M Donalds/H Rivers (LYM) 18 17

The Aaron sisters won in 2 sets against Donalds and Rivers, by medium margins on both, but still won them. This was along with the Mixed Doubles Final the only one to end in just 2 sets, showing the best performance of the Aaron sisters in the whole tournament, congratulation to Super-Llamaland for the Women's Doubles team they have, indeed the best.

Mixed Doubles Tournament
Final
H Juke/H Iina (JKR) 17 17
Y Luva/L Miñalos (FDS) 21 21

And it all came to this last one match, the ending one. The last one of all. Luva and Miñalos decided it was going to be quite short, they won both sets by the same difference, 4 points, and closed the second World Badminton Championship crushing Juke and Iina's dreams. But, fulfilling theirs. Luva and Miñalos were the last ones to receive their medal, and, at the same time, the ones who gave Farfadillis their 2nd medal, a feat that only Farfadillis did this time. Luva and Miñalos didn't get much attention from us at the beginning, but they've shown they're as good as Serö. Congratulations Luva and Miñalos.

On other news: Serö, Luva and Miñalos will get the title of Honour Guard, as announced by the Federal Council. Starting the 14th of November they'll officially be Hg. Lounoi Serö, Hg. Yosta Luva and Hg. Leira Miñalos.

OOC: And the adventure ends, I've really enjoyed it. This must be the 1st time I actually win a gold medal. I'd like to congratulate Dyurtenali Poksadam (or Yesopalitha) for hosting such an enjoyable tournament.

LlamaLand News: CHAMPIONS!
Aaron Sisters Celebrate Gold Medal!!!

Christina and Aurora Aaron, still fairly young, took home a championship for their nation. Given the player-rating of eighty, just fifth, it was a surprise that they won it all. The first two champions of Llamaland international sports history have been crowned tonight.

Facing Mary Donalds and Helene Rivers, ranked one hundred, or first in the world, it was a clear 21-18 21-17 upset, shocking the world and the llamas.

"I just cannot describe how happy I am," said Aurora.
Christina said: "This is just fantastic, being the first-ever Llamaland Champs!"

The quote from Announcer Joel Nelson:

"Twenty-one eighteen, now twenty to seventeen with Donalds serving. The familar plunk rings as Christina Aaron hits it back to Rivers, now to C Aaron again, Rivers, A Aaron- Oh, that was just beautiful, folks, as Rivers hardly gets it back, an easy smash- they didn't get it! Is it IN?!?! YES! YES! THE AARONS ARE VICTORS! OH, WHAT A MOMENT FOR SUPER LLAMALAND!
