It All Comes Down To This
Win over Free South Califas sets up stressful last match

The good news? Yesopalitha avenged their earlier loss at the hands of Free South Califas by a score of 8-2, highlighted by the performance of Rénée and Mellet in the offensive side that saw them score all eight of the team's goals. Tovalí also had a nice game dealing with the Harvest Mice's attack.

The bad news? 95X is on course to win the group, following their 5-0 win over Gallund. Pretty much the only way that the Lightning can advance to the next round is if 95X loses their last game and the Lightning beat Gallund. This is because the two wild-card spots will probably go to Bergnovinaia of Group B, Mangolana of Group C, Thatius of Group D, or Beaverriver of Group F.

It would be a very disappointing result for this team, which has been playing solid ball lately and would qualify for the knockout rounds in a heartbeat if the organizers of the tournament hadn't decided to trim the field to eight from the original thirty-six, which is less than twenty-five percent of the teams advancing to the knockout rounds, giving preference for the teams who have had a lot of experience and success in the past.

The Lightning will try to not worry about the part that they cannot control and instead look to finish strong by perhaps another blanking of Gallund. As Rénée put it, "Even if we don't make it this time around, we'll have learned a lot about the game, and will be back the next time around with vengeance in our minds."

Will the next game be the last time for the Lightning this time around?

One final game is next, to determine if we go to the play in round or not
Beaverriver's Indoor Soccer National Team defeats Mashiki 4-1. Dave Pickard scores only one goal while Rarph scores a hat trick. Ana Mccoy makes 5 saves. It still possible for Beaverriver to win the group by defeating Vamprian-Krumbian Confederacy and Darmen not winning their game against Bordurian. Beaverriver hasn't clinched a spot in the next round.

Quotes from the coach
On how important the next game is
We got to win this game to advance to the next round. We are an excellent team that does not do well against Darmen. This game is more important then Darmen because this determines if we're going home or going on to the next round.
On Rarph's Hat trick
This is how we are able to play well because he is playing wonderfully for us and it help teach me a lesson about giving players a lot of playing time. Even a national team coach can still learn new stuff.

Wrap-Up

Postby Yesopalitha » Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:14 pm

An acronym to wrap up the WISC V for the Yesopalitha Lightning:

Yes, they may have gone out, done in by the consistent pressure of 95X and the upcoming presence of Free South Califas.
Even though the players gave it their all, it wasn't enough to qualify for the knockout rounds.
Such happenstance is unfortunate, but not all win; and losing necessarily isn't bad.
Opportunities abound for more action to be had.
Perhaps one thing the Lightning should learn, though...
All things happen for a reason.
Little things, big things, no matter what they are
In the big scheme of things they all play out.
The next tournament will always come back
Here again to test the mettle of all those who try
Always hope that the next time will be better than the last.

Megatropolis was filled with excitement tonight after Megadia brushed aside yet another opponent in the World Indoor Soccer Championships with a convincing win over Beaverriver. Ranked 8th in the world, Megadia are the second lowest ranked nation still in the competition but will be hoping to upset the odds and reach the final with a win over 95X which will definitely be a tight game - only one ranking place separating the two sides. But optimism is one thing Megadians certainly have.

I apologise for only RP'ing once during the whole tournament but I would like to thank Camwood massively for hosting such a brilliant tournament, I would like to congratulate Polar Islandstates for winning and finally, I would like to thank my worthy opponents - especially Mapletish (who ruined my chances of a 100% win record in the group stages ;) )
