Win over Free South Califas sets up stressful last match
The good news? Yesopalitha avenged their earlier loss at the hands of Free South Califas by a score of 8-2, highlighted by the performance of Rénée and Mellet in the offensive side that saw them score all eight of the team's goals. Tovalí also had a nice game dealing with the Harvest Mice's attack.
The bad news? 95X is on course to win the group, following their 5-0 win over Gallund. Pretty much the only way that the Lightning can advance to the next round is if 95X loses their last game and the Lightning beat Gallund. This is because the two wild-card spots will probably go to Bergnovinaia of Group B, Mangolana of Group C, Thatius of Group D, or Beaverriver of Group F.
It would be a very disappointing result for this team, which has been playing solid ball lately and would qualify for the knockout rounds in a heartbeat if the organizers of the tournament hadn't decided to trim the field to eight from the original thirty-six, which is less than twenty-five percent of the teams advancing to the knockout rounds, giving preference for the teams who have had a lot of experience and success in the past.
The Lightning will try to not worry about the part that they cannot control and instead look to finish strong by perhaps another blanking of Gallund. As Rénée put it, "Even if we don't make it this time around, we'll have learned a lot about the game, and will be back the next time around with vengeance in our minds."
Will the next game be the last time for the Lightning this time around?
