A Gaelic Football Invitational: Everything Thread

Postby Free South Califas » Fri Jun 29, 2012 12:37 pm

In which we open signups for A Gaelic Football Invitational or AGFI1.

Signups are CLOSED. Good luck

We do this, intending to provoke a new Gaelic Football World Cup through some combination of inspiration and outrage. In South Califas, this mixed emotion is wishfully referred to as "inspiroutrage".

If ye be footballin', put yer nation in this here thread.

Puppet of Free South Califas, signing in.
Some damn Qabalistic puppet (of Free South Califas, but only OOCly) which gazumped Wight out of Number Two, Atlantian Oceania just before AOCAF 36. A wise man once said that "the key is to stand about and look like you own the place, and hope nobody asks for a copy of the deeds".

Group Draw

Postby Free South Califas » Sat Jun 30, 2012 6:40 pm

Signups are closed, though a late entrant may send their roster by TG to me or Israeli Apartheid Client-State and they will replace that puppet. (Edit: Maron did this, and is now a part of the tournament. The group draw was redone.) Submit your rosters and any RPs in this thread by 0900 Monday July 2, 2012, Pacific time (California), please.

Please specify your style; a full range from -5 to +5 will be used, with xkoranate's gaelic football scorinator. NSFS formula is used, with NSFS-type style modifiers; any objections, please say so here or by TG.

There will be two groups of four teams each, who will play a single-round-robin group stage. Semifinals will ensue, and a Cup, Shield, Plate and Bowl will be issued in that order. Good luck everyone!

Groups were drawn at random, there being no extant ranking system that I am aware of. Draws were not going to be allowed, but xkoranate begs to differ.
Tiebreakers go:
Standings pts
H2H standings pts
H2H pts diff
H2H pts for
Pts diff
Pts for

Rosters will get 1.50-2.50 bonus points, RPs will get 1-2. Cumulative, but not degrading. Rosters will be checked between every cutoff, so feel free to submit one if you are late, or improve the one you've already posted. I will get the minimum bonus for a roster if I post one, and the minimum RP bonus if I post something substantial.

Group A
Ruadha
Falconear
Free South Califas
Filopines

Group B
Darmen

Matchday 1 Review

Postby Maron » Tue Jul 03, 2012 6:44 am

Maron Sports Channel Football Invitational Review show

"Well folks, Steve McManaman here, alongside Football legend James Hawkins, who happened to be on the national team back in 1986 and James, the Maron national Team did what was expected in the first game did they not?

James replied, " Well Steve the team did us proud this afternoon. What a win for the National Team." Unbelievable goalkeeping and as a former centre-forward, i know how tough it is to score in Football and and we did just that this afternoon. "

"Well folks there you have it. Maron is 1-0 in this competition so far. Hopefully more wins are on the way, and the title game would be the hopes for this team. The nation is watching hopefully the world is too," Steve said.

Matchday 2 Review

Postby Maron » Tue Jul 03, 2012 9:37 am

Maron Sports Channel'S Football Week In Review Show (Steve McManaman and James Hawkins)

*Theme music plays*

"Hello everyone and welcome to the second edition of the Football Week In-Review Show Football Invitational Special Report, I'm Steve McManaman and alongside me is Hall of Fame Centre-Forward James Hawkins. We start off with the Maron National Team's match against the National team of Kitsunia-Deesse. Giani Fedele does what he does best and puts the football in the back of the net. Giving Maron their only goal, but that wasn't all from the captain. Giania a few minutes later kicks over the posts and gets his first point of the match, leading Maron to a 1-23 (26) Kitsunia-Deesse 0-20 (20) victory. James, the man they named after you James Henderson proved he could be a Keeper at the international level didn't he today?

"Well Steve, he sure did. James Henderson is wonderful in net, and let's not forget he's got fourteen other guys working together to win this game and give Maron a 2-0 record in its first ever International Football competition. Surely Maron proved they were going to be a favorite to advance to the knockout round of this competition. Unbelievable from Giani, and of course Ryan Reynolds who has been the best at his position in Maron for quite sometime."

"Maronians, there you have it, an expert's take on the Football Invitational second day matchup. Maron has done good so far, perhaps at the end of the day, Maron will give us all a little something to celebrate. For James Hawkins, I'm Macca, Steve McManaman and we'll see you next time on the Maron Sports Channel's Football In-Review Show."

A GLORIOUS SPORT-RELATED INFORM BY THE HOLY EMPIRE OF KITSUNIA-DEESSE

The Holy Empire of Kitsunia-Deesse is in the next phase of the Gaelic Football Invitational as the Kitsunes qualify to the next round, as the Kitsunes take on Ruadha. According to the players, it has been pretty funny to stay in another nation and being noticed with strangeness thanks to their peculiar appearence. Jean-Marie Tatsu, player of the Kitsunes Rugby Team said that he was very happy with the place and admits that they are lucky that the country accepts their religion.
