Yep, unranked team vs. other nearly unranked team 0-7, while I played O-Damn at home and got a 0-0. That is the kind of things we put up with in group 14

Edit: I'm pretty sure Civ can relate

Good news! It means you get to induct one of your players into the World Cup Hall of Fame. You get one entry for every 7 times you try and qualify.

Every cloud, right?

Sounds great but there is a problem. My only suitable candidate is still in the prime of his career. :(

And? You can RP it however you like. By the time you have your fourth or fifth entrant into the HoF, your team should have a KPB rank far in excess of what it is now, so the players will be, overall, much better. The 'superstars' of your first few World Cup and Cup of Harmony teams may well look like journeymen in 10 or 15 Cups' time. If your national football association can only think of their current superstar as their HoF entry... then make it him. It'll either mean he goes on to shine on the world stage with the extra recognition, or falls into the horrors of drink and drugs, despair and abandonment as the fame has gone to his head...

How about "Black and Blue", given the Sortherners' love of black (and now luminous green) stuff, and, well, AguAZUL.

About a year ago, my NSwiki alter ego suggested the following on the talk page to Craziness Encouraged:

Chapter Eight

Something on the themes of growth, experimentation, and/or chaos? WC 52 was the largest ever, and WC 54 the second-largest. And the bidding processes of WC 54 and WC 56 were dominated by discussions of radical schemes to address the increase in size (especially TBI/Cassadaigua's two-tier qualifying and Valanora/Sorthern Northland's initial 122 cap). Since those discussions are still playing out the story has yet to be written, but SDB is more than equal to it. --Lindsay Martin 22:17, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Of course, this was before Aguazul won four Cups in six tries, and that's the lead story of the time. But this subtheme is still present and continues into WC 60, at least.

The World Cup Hall of Fame (sometimes called imprecisely the World Cup Player Hall of Fame) is basically self-administered. If you're qualified to add one or more players, you can do so at any time by editing the NSwiki page. Retrospective inductions are cool as well.

There is also a World Cup Nation Hall of Fame, maintained using the Spaam Ranking System on an objective basis. TBI is the current custodian.

Heh, so apparently I have two spots available for players, but admittedly, can't think of anyone notable enough yet to enter.

On a side note, I maintain that my long-reaching level of futility is up there with some of the best. Eighteen attempts to qualify (Seventeen completed), and at this point, no qualifications on merit (one as a host, due to the silly circumstances behind the conversion of the SO-LE Hosting duties in 22 to Vil-LE-gal). Here's hoping tonight is a step in the direction of getting my first qualification.

I'd like to ask Cass directly if she will be fully able to perform her duties if elected as president. As noted in her signature, she is getting married in 4 months time. I would assume that she is hard at work planning everything out for that, and has had patchy time here on NS. So I'd like to ask if she can come in here and explain herself that she can be able to be an active president.

Four months from today exactly! ;)

I have to be honest that I was pretty surprised that I got two nominations to be President, and I thank the two who did, whoever you are. I have no intention on leaving NS and I would still be around to do what was needed if by some miracle I beat Aguazul in this election. Naturally, things that might happen close to October 20th, before or after would have to be delegated to the Vice President but looking at the big picture and the several months that I would be President, I can't foresee any problems. If I have a responsibility, I will be here. Planning has gone smoothly and most of the important things are already in place. I have strong internet access and can find the time to log in and do what needs to be done. Though with leeway maybe for the week before and week after. :)
