Apologies. My head appears to have asploded.

Yo dawg, I heard you like games with scorinators, so we made a game with a Scorinator so you can scorinate games whilst scorinating games!

Yo dawg, I heard you like scorinators within games within games so we made a scorinator within a game within a game within a game so you can scorinate games within games within games while you wait for your game within a game to be scorinated.

My version is, alarmingly, more accurate.

Because, without hyperbole, for the actual millionth time in various World Cup Discussion Threads over the years: Roleplaying does not guarantee victories.

Scores are a combination of the Three Rs. This is Rank, Roleplaying Bonus, and Randomness.

Please try to remember that for one of those categories, you have the score of precisely zero, and that a 4-1-4 record at this stage is actually quite lucky for a nation such as yourself.

Slembana is not equivalent Brazil, nor Argentina, nor Italy. Slembana is not even England, the USA, Senegal or Slovenia. Right now Slembana is the footballing equivalent to Djibouti, Laos or Sri Lanka, so please be thankful for the results you have.

I'd guess somewhere around 140-170. Most of the teams in that zone have fairly low KPB ranks that are easy to pass. After my first WC, I had a ranking of 169 or so.

You don't get the point. Only a few nations in recent cycles have qualified on their first go (Chenkorya, damn you!). Usually, it takes four, five, six cycles of consistent RP'ing and luck to break through, and then, even then, it's hard to stay on the list of teams that qualify.

There are a few nations who've been around for over a year, RP'ed every cycle, and still have never qualified, including Civil Citizenry, for one.

Which means that since you're a new team, and you didn't even participate in a BoF, you should expect to be in the "Mediocre Zone" for at least a few cycles before you start getting even close. I am in my fourth cycle myself, and it took me a BoF, three WC Qualifying Cycles, participating in three Cup of Harmony, and RP'ing my butt off to get to where I am.

If you don't want to do the work, but want the skies to open and qualify in the first two or three cycles, either hope to be extremely lucky, or... You're playing the wrong game.

It's called having a low rank...

Oh, and this is now my 5th cycle, and I'm still probably not going to qualify, as it requires a strong 2nd half performance and a playoff win, given that the very highly ranked Jeruselem is almost guaranteed the group title. The only tournaments I've done well in first go have been the College Sports ones, NSCF 3 and NSCAA 4, and that's mainly because they're more RP skewed than most and I didn't join in over 50 editions late, and they only have about 30 different nations involved.

You can't expect to win first up with a tournament with 180+ teams, just ain't gonna happen, I'm still anxiously waiting to just qualify for the WC and lose my 3 group games...

Yeah, I think I forgot that I was unranked when I blurted out...but I can easily beat the 329th ranked team - Deep Fried Pickles, who are in my group. Performing really badly, but our home form is frightening.

This thread is not for all your individual matches, going "I hope I can beat this dude" or "I lost to this dude". Key matches, talking about dwindling chances, and such are okay, but nobody wants to know how your team is doing match by match. If you want to comment on your matches, one by one, do that in your RP's. Keep this to discussing about the tournament in general, not specifically you. Please.

Please note the sarcasm and IC references of the following statements as to avoid confusion...

Newbies... No wonder they struggle when they cant even be bothered to pray to the right diety. Margaret, or Maggie as she is sometimes lovingly referred to, is the Godess of random numbers here on NS Sport. It has been discovered and proven that she shines favor on those who sacrifice rubber chicens to her at the proper time. The wrong timing can set you into a tailspin of "close but no cigar" (see Qazox and Krytenia for further evidence of this phenomenon) that one can never break free from.

It is also recomended that you refrain from sacrificing real chickens as that can be a bit messy and serves no purpose whatsoever. Maggie HATES real chicken. Margaret is a fickle bitch of a mistress, but she is by no means that twisted.

We aren't really interested (in this thread) whether your team is going to "take revenge" for a reverse loss, or has a new manager who's doing badly, or is about to sack a manager for doing badly. That is what the RP thread is for.

It's alright; the chaps at the Imperial Club realise that working-class mundies are sometimes overcome with fits of jealousy.

(No I don't plan on keeping up this 'chap' theme going for more than a couple of cups, you'll all be relieved to hear)

Or if you transcend Ordinary Reality, in which case your legendary manager probably knows Margaret personally, thinks she's a nice enough lass for the occasional one-night stand when they do get together for a drink and a quick shag, but otherwise cheerfully dismisses her as just another minor Ordinary Reality cult figure that he'd be no more likely to need to take seriously than the Great Toe Deity of the Galactic Nail Clippers.

While your enthusiasm for the tournament is wonderfully refreshing, I would be grateful if you would stop constantly posting RP content and commentary on your matches in the out of character discussion thread.

This is beginning to approach spam; unintentional spam born of enthusiasm, true, but spam all the same.

We've always welcomed a bit of banter in this thread, some of which can include in-character references; but commenting on every single match result is unnecessary.

Please don't be discouraged by this note; I'm merely trying to help an enthusiastic new participant whom I hope will be with us for some time to come to understand the main purpose of the discussion thread.
