So are there any WC hosting bids being proposed behind the scenes?

I would be willing to consider co-hosting a tournament provided A) a suitable co-host and B) IC explanation for my co-hosting can be found.

I would prefer to co-host with this nation so as not to inadvertently give the impression that my hosting carried some form of official Moderator approval.

I would also prefer a reasonably experienced co-host; despite my long experience of hosting tournaments running all the way back to WC 2, my last attempt at co-hosting had some road bumps (though these were partially caused by external circumstances), and the only thing I've hosted since becoming a mod in the immediate wake of WC 50 was the Chap Olympiad (which I'll likely run again soon). So it would be best if my co-host could help me shake off some early co-hosting rust rather than have me mentor a newer player.

I am now discussing a potential bid with a suitable bid partner.

However, a possible issue for my potential bid partner which might impact whether we bid for WC69 or WC70 is the timing of the next NSWC.

Could PiS perhaps take a moment to outline his thinking on the timing of sign-up threads and the bid process? This would help us decide which WC to bid to host.

Note that I personally have no problem with running the tournament during the RLWC; after all, none the matches kick off before 8:00 PM GST (and we all know what GST is now, thanks to Star....). However, it's not a serious issue for me either way, and I wouldn't want to pre-empt PiS on the issue of timing.

Competing host bids must also be posted within these two weeks, at which point assuming we have at least one BoF host bid we'll have the votes. The winning bid will then be entirely in charge of the re-opening and closing of the signups. After that, the BoF hosts and WC hosts can cutoff signups and get hosting when they see fit - with the first MD of the WC after the conclusion of the BoF, obviously.

So, in many ways, the timing is up to the people interested in hosting. It worked the last two times, I'm happy to let the system decide this time as well. I also don't think it matters when the hosting happens in terms of the RL WC.

I'll add that the earliest viable start for Qualifying, under this system, would be around 5 weeks after the signup thread opens. That is an extremely optimistic estimate that, from experience, I wouldn't recommend relying upon (especially since the BoF hosts may not have the same ideas regarding timing). 7 weeks is probably a more realistic estimate, as that is around the amount of time that has elapsed between the opening of the signup thread and the start of qualifying, each of the 3 times that the current system has been in place.

And 7 weeks from today will be the same day that the final of the RLWC starts so perfect timing really for those that were concerned.

Perfect time for the games to be on, I'll have the pleasure of reviewing my sleeping shecudle as games range from 1:30am kick off to 7:30am kick off (with a couple 10:30am kick off games)

While this isn't definite, it looks like my proposed bid partner's schedule will be a better fit for co-hosting WC 70; we'll reach a decision before the end of the week.

So if other groups are interested in hosting WC 69, I'd go ahead and submit your bid rather than wait for us to finalise which Cup we want to bid for. Competition is healthy in any case.
