If you really like designing mascots, why don't you design one for your own WC team, and post it in the RP thread? You never know, if others like your work they might commission you. But better to wait until you are asked.

And it's certainly not the case that no-one likes you. You just have to channel your enthusiasms!

Thanks mate. I'm not good at designing mascots or flags. What should I use. At least someone respects me. I've been here for a month.

Look, I wouldn't normally say something publicly about something of this nature, but if somebody says 'end of discussion', it generally means no, for definite. That also means that you shouldn't ignore them - especially as they are a much more experienced member of NS Sport (and not just one, but two), now, we don't want to lose what could eventually be great members of NS Sport and your enthusiasm to be a good contributor to our sub-forum is admirable, but it needs to be toned down slightly in some cases. It's also good that you asked for advice, but once you have asked and been given a reply, don't ignore the advice that you have been given (especially as you asked for it).

We don't want you to be disheartened, but we also don't want you to become an annoyance, which sadly you may come across as to some members of NS Sport. So please, continue to enthusiastically contribute, but try to ask advice first for things and once given a reply, take the advice on board and don't ignore it. We want active role-players to be a part of NS Sport and you can become that if you take advice and listen to more experienced members of NS Sport.

Also, please refrain from continuing with this match by match commentary, as told before, this isn't a thread meant for that. If you want to make match by match commentary on your team's chances, please do it through role-playing, which is what the RP thread is for.

I think you may assume too much.

One or two people may be frustrated with you, but I doubt anyone really actively dislikes you.

As to the mascot idea, it wasn't necessarily a bad one, but there were perhaps better ways of raising it. As Valanora is one of the co-hosts of the present World Cup, he has final say on the issue for the present tournament, but there's no reason why you can't raise it again with future hosts.

My suggestion to you would be to start a thread offering to create mascots for a range of other sporting events and/or teams (instead of creating mascots without asking for permission first), much like some other nations start threads offering to create uniforms for a range of sports teams.

If you can then prove you can do a good job, you might find in time that people are willing to take your offer to create mascots more seriously.

(Ninja'd by Wight, but the two suggestions aren't mutually incompatible)

Thanks mate for the help. You're well-respected, and have been here for nine years. I'll start a thread, but I've run into a problem - some nations may no longer exist. What programme do I use to create such mascots?

I've created a mascot thread. Give me permission if you want! The hosts of at least one WC can give me permission to design mascots.

Perhaps you misunderstand.

I'm not suggesting you start up a thread for nations that no longer exist, or past tournaments.

I'm suggesting you start up a thread called something like "Slembana's Sports Mascot Thread" where you have an OP along the lines of

"The Slembana Mascot Design committee would like to offer to create a mascot for your team or sporting organisation. Write an application in this thread offering some basic details about the mascot (and any necessary colours), and we'll create a mascot for you!"

If, however, you lack the technical skills to design a mascot - you'd need some familiarity with design software of some sort - perhaps hold off starting that thread for the time being. How are you going to create those mascots if you don't know how.

I know.

I've given him a test case.

I know I'm not wearing my mod hat right now (I'm trying to write a Holy Empire WC 61 RP, dammit!), but let's perhaps leave the mascot discussion to one side for the time being.

I'm 99% certain someone has already said this (if not, shame on all of you, including me...), but I don't think that no one likes you (EDIT: read as follows to avoid the slightly confusing double-negative: "I don't think anyone dislikes you"). The spam, on the other hand, is annoying.

I'm not going to try to stifle your enthusiasm or to shame you into doing the right thing. However, I would ask - on behalf of people I think that think like me, and maybe countless others - that you think before you post. Sometimes your enthusiasm comes out as a bit... reckless. I would go on and say it is reckless. There are many instances that I can point to where you have made consecutive posts containing very little substance. Rather than post twice/thrice/quadrice/quintice/sextice/etcice, it would be much better for readers and the like to read them all on one post.

So here's a handy guide to posting things on RPs and OOC discussion threads.

(1) Write what you want/need/think you want/think you need to write. RP or discussion. Doesn't matter.

(2)
STOP!
Before you hit "submit", stop and think. Is that all you need/want to say? If not, finish your thoughts. Is what you're saying constructive to the discussion? If not, edit out what needs/wants not to be said. [note, this part is slightly optional, although if everything you write is needless and unwanted, people start to think what you write is needless and unwanted... rather hard to describe what is needless or unwanted though... common sense is a very good first step] If you are writing "omgz, so sorry to say this" in a lot of your posts, you might want to consider not sharing that stuff - especially since so much of your OOC discussion posts seem that they would be better spent written in some RP.

This STOP step is also useful because sometimes your original posts contain tpyos or other bits of embarrassing mistakes. Otherwise, there's always the beloved edit button to change your post. Just like I've done right, I've edited this post to say this little tid-bit; I've also underlined it because I want to take responsibility for what was posted then and now.

(3) If you find yourself not objecting to any of the material that you've written, it's probably safe to click "submit". If you have written what exactly needs/wants to be said, you shouldn't have to apologize for any of it.

If you take this advice sincerely, you might find yourself more comfortable with the rest of us. We don't bite (in the case of Seunem, not that hard).

Of course I sort of feel bad for those that rp and find themselves losing to me.
