TOUCHDOWN! SICOUTIAN GRIDION SEASON PREVIEW
Well, Sicoutimont, it's time for the gridion season! After the reform of Sporting Leagues in our nation, this is the first season in which 8 teams will compete for the Girard Cup. We have your teams below!

WEST/ISLANDS DIVISION
Lac Drouin Tigres
The Tigres hope to thrill the fans at Lac-Drouin wth a skilled offensive team. QB Jerome St-James is still the best in the league, with 1245 yards thrown in his 5-year career. WR Antoine Edouards still catchs the ball at the age of 38, and is maybe the best Sicoutian player ever. On the defensive side, Denis DeRossele led the league with 32 sacs last year. PREDICTION: 1st in division.

Pierre Beach Royales
The Purples, as they are know, are not expected to be good this year. 1st overall pick Yanick Garonte will be a bright spot on offense, throwing 33 touchdown passes in the junior league championship tournament last season. On defense, the collective effort will help, but not by much for the worst defense in the league. PREDICTION: 5th in division.

Ile de Loup Huskies
The Huskies may be the only team able to beat the Tigres in the West division. QB Robert Allonts will be good, and the recievers solid. LB Dylan Cortour could be a revelation in his 3rd year on the defensive side. Courtour will frighten softer QB's like many in Pierre Beach. PREDICTION: 2nd in Division

Riviere St-Denis Capitales
Les Capitales offense and defense could win any other division, it seems, but the West Division. Edourard Eliates is a star at QB, but will his recievers play to expectations? RB Vernon Tellert will get many more sacs than last year, and could challenge Denis DeRoussele. PREDICTION:3rd in division.

Tallonts Roughnecks
The Rough's defensive game only allowed 3.53 touchdowns per game, but the offense only managed 1.99 touchdowns per game. Offseason trades such as aquiring QB Herbert Hillard from Ile de Loup. The defense will benefit from the signing of Gerard Allerd, making a great defense even better. PREDICTION: 4th in division.

TOUCHDOWN! SICOUTIAN GRIDION LEAGUE PREVIEW
Following our Western Division preview, we took a look at the Eastern Division.

Orleans Thunder
The Thunder look to improve on a great season last year, with some new faces. QB David Forrures is one of these new faces who can lead this thunder team. Kicker Denis Delouvre will continue to add to those TD's for the team. LB Henri Oulot will complement a fabulous Thunder defense. PREDICTION: 1st in division.

Arbreville Jungle-Cats
The Cats are still the same team they were 1 season ago. QB Paul Perrot is the best QB in the east, and will continue to be this year. Pierre St-Allain will be great in the LB position. PREDICTION: 2nd in division.

Ile Perrot Epee
The Swords will be a force in the division. Only problem is, so will Arbreville and Orleans. QB Rene Bouschamps continues to lead the team, and his RB William Forton will catch most throws. On defense, Isaac Desloup will continue to intercept and strip QB's and recievers alike of the ball. PREDICTION: 3rd in division.

Orleans Monstres
The Monstres will not be as good as there cross-town rivals, the Thunder. QB Denis Dallaire is still very good, but the reciever core is weak. Defence must have an all-around improvement for this team to succeed. PREDICTION: 4th in division.

St-Pierre Ambush
Not much to say here. The worst team in the league will still be same old, same old. QB Erik Dejarden will need a great year to lift the team from the basement. Coach Simon Allonuve may be looking for a new job come the end of the year. PREDICTION: 5th in division.

TOUCHDOWN! SEASON FINISHED, HERE ARE RESULTS!

West Division
1. Lac-Drouin, 9-2
2. Riviere St-Denis, 7-4
3. Pierre Beach, 6-5
4. Ile de Loup, 4-7
5. Tallonts, 2-9

In the West, Lac-Drouin winning was no surprise, but Pierre Beach rising to a playoff spot was surprising. The team Pierre Beach knocked out? Ile de Loup, who many media had predicted as #1 in the league, over Lac-Drouin. Pierre Beach plays Riviere St-Denis in the playoffs, with the winner playing Lac-Drouin.

East Division
1. Orleans, 9-2
2. Arbreville, 8-3
3. Monstre de Orleans, 5-6
4. St-Pierre, 3-8
5. Ile Perrot, 2-9

Orleans wins with ease, the Ile Perrot Epee fail to live up to expectations again, and Monstres de Orleans steal a playoff spot from St-Pierre with 2 wins against them in weeks 10 and 11. Arbreville plays Monstre, and the winner plays Orleans.

TOUCHDOWN! FIRST ROUND OF PLAYOFF RESULTS
The first round of the playoffs finished up last weekend. On Saturday, Pierre Beach took on Riviere St-Denis, and Sunday featured Monstre against Arbreville.

SATURDAY- Stade Archambault, Riviere St-Denis

Riviere St-Denis took the Round 1 match against surprise team Pierre Beach with ease, winning 35-13. Pierre Beach led 10-3 after the first quarter, but the Riviere St-Denis turned it up. After halftime, the score was 27-13. Another TD was scored by Les Capitales, to bring them to 34, and a kick that went past the endzone secured the victory. Riviere St-Denis plays Lac Drouin at the Tigres Amphiteatre in Lac-Drouin.

SUNDAY- Arene Iamgold, Rouyn-Arbreville
MDO-3

Uneventful game which Arbreville won with 1 TD late in the 4th quarter. 3-3 for most of the game, but the Cats finally broke through. Arbreville takes on Orleans next weekend. Get your tickets for the 21st Girard Cup, being held at Stade Archambault in Riviere-St Denis. Can the hosts win the cup? With a 2 more wins, they can join the 1995 St Pierre Ambush as the only team to win the Girard Cup at home.

This weekend, the 2 semifinals in the SFL were played, and the winners will play for the 21st Girard Cup, being played at Stare Archambault, in Riviere St-Denis. Who made it to the finals? Find out now!

The first Girard Cup finalists are the Orleans Thunder, who defeated Arbreville in dominating fashion, and travel to Riviere St Denis for a shot at the championship.

CONGRATS TO THE LAC DROUIN TIGRES, GIRARD CUP CHAMPIONS!

It's Official: the Lac Drouin Tigres are your Girard Cup Champions!

On a rainy Sunday at Stade Archambault, Jerome St-James played a wonderfull game, throwing 567 yards for 3 touchdowns, and running 1 more from the goal line. St-James was also awarded the Albert Commiade Trophy for finals MVP. Orleans played solid the whole game, but after the 2nd TD in the 4th the defense broke down. Final Score: Lac Drouin 31, Orleans 10. Denis DeRoussele was named Defensive Player of the Year on-field, and more awards will be given at the Awards Show. Congrats once again to Les Tigres and there fans, and the Tigres will attempt to defend there title next season, maybe getting a shot at home with Tigres Amphitheatre hosting the 22nd Girard Cup. See you soon for the Awards, and Free Agency!

After an exciting pre-season, where top pick Jean-Luc Desjardins made the Baie-Eternite Bass, we preview 1 player from each team and what they need to help there team to the win. We also predict the Conference seedings, and tell you who will win the SHL! Here we are with the Western Conference Preview!

Western Conference
Port Aubin Pirates- Sebastien Helot
Helot, who stunned fans with his great Rookie Season, has slumped recently. He needs to get his game back for the Pirates to make it to the playoffs.

Lac Drouin Tigres-Pierre Savard
Not much wrong with Les Tigres, but Pierre Savard is a 30 goal scorer who only got 15 last year. He will need a good year to stay away from the Press Box.

St-Simeon Whalers-Sebastien Savard
No relation to Pierre, but greatest Sicoutian goalie ever needs to have a rebound season after his Whalers missed the playoffs the year before.

Riviere St-Denis Rangers-Brad de Aurelonts
Cousin of Driver Simon, Brad has not performed recently and, like Pierre Savard, needs to step up his game to keep his roster spot on deep Rangers squad.

Baie-Eternite Bass-Jean-Luc Desjardins
The top pick in the entry draft is expected to make an impact right away, but will he? Conditioning issues plagued an otherwise great junior career.

St-Pierre Royales
Les Royales need an impact player to do anything. 2 top-6 forwards are on the team, but they are 19 and 20 respectively. Another 1st overall pick could benefit the team, but St-Pierre are on the verge of moving to another city. Fans are needed, and impact players bring fans.

Puck Drop! SHL East Preview + Playoff Predictions

EASTERN CONFERENCE

6 Players To Step Up In The East

Orleans Thunder- Chad LeLald, RW
LeLald, the power forward winger, only finished last season with 7 points. Lelald is a power foward, but a non-deep Thunder roster makes Chad a player who needs to step up.

Jonquiere Allouettes-Loic Lenouvre, D
"Lightning Loic" just couldn't finish last year. The great offensive d-man needs to step his game up in his 3rd SHL season, to keep him on a Lafayette Cup-challanger Allouettes squad.

Val-Maurice Foreurs-Erik Lefay
Lefay scored 53 goals 2 years ago, but this season only managed 15. Lefay needs a rebound season, or a trade could follow. Les Foreurs are deep, and could expend a 2nd Line Winger.

Mont-St-Jean Mountaineers-Paul Leclerc
Leclerc just needs to score a goal. A 34-game scoreless streak means that Leclerc hasn't scored for 1 1/3 seasons. A bad Mountaineers team gives him a home, but Leclerc could find his way off if the Mountaineers make the play-offs.

Ile de Loup Islanders
The Isles are a mess. No-one had a 25 goal season, and the team finished 22 points out of the playoffs. Every player needs to improve to see a season close to the playoffs.

Edmunston Anglers
The new squad could be a good one. Etienne Goubert is a lock for starter goalie, and Kevin Kelbert will score 20-30 goals. Can the Anglers keep Edmunston fans at the Arena? Les Flames won 2 cups, but only averaged 12,000 fans per game. The team will need 17-18,000 to stay on the Baie.

HandballSicoutimont: Season 1

After the recent Handball World Championships, were Sicoutimont were fairly successful before falling in the Round of 16 to The Jahistic Armed Republic, stars such as Xavier Berube complained about no Domestic League. That all changed soon after, however. In the first-ever SHA draft, "The X-Man" was drafted 2nd Overall by the Richelieu RoughRiders handball club. Pierre Cartier went first to the St-Simeon Whalers. Touchdown!: New Teams And A New-Look SGL Get The Gridiron Done

This offseason, the Sicoutian Gridion League changed almost everything. 5 new teams were added, from Scajaquada Falls to Baie-Eternite. All 15 teams are in 1 conference, and will play 2 games each against each other. This 30-game schedule is said to allow the top teams to make tha playoffs, and let the bottom feeders drown. 8 teams will make the playoffs, and 1-game series will narrow the field down to 2 at the 22nd Girard Cup at Tigres Amphitheatre in Lac-Drouin. Offseason
First, the big news: In addition to the current 12 teams, the Cote-Manicougan Vikings, Ile Bizzard Huskies, Scajaquada Falls Thunder, and LaSalle Lumberheads will be added, with Ile Bizzard and LaSalle in the west and Cote-Manicougan and Scajaquada in the east. Manicougan scored the 1st Overall Pick, and Ile Bizzard 3. Onto the draft, which was held July 22-23, 1 week after Riviere St-Denis took the Lafayette Cup. Here are the Top-5 draft picks.

Isles overpay for another unproven forward. Will Cartier be able to up average of just 19 points per year?

Loic played a good season for a bad team. On any good team, he would have been the best defenseman potentially in the league.

3. Ile-Bizzard sign Sebastian Savard-G 4 years/2.5 million
Savard is the best Sicoutian goalie ever. Ile-Bizzard must have been surprised to get him at this price. At 27, he's already won 3 League Titles.

4. Val Maurice sign Eric Desjardins-RW 1 year/2 million
Desjardins provides a clutch touch to the Foreurs they didn't have in the playoffs last year, making 9 of his 16 goals with below 5 minutes left or in overtime. 4 of the others were with his team down a goal in the final 10 minutes.

5. Cote-Manicougan sign Seamus Sinclair-D 3 years/2 million
Vikings prove they are willing to go after the top picks. Losing a 1st Rounder and 3rd Rounder in compensation to Lac-Drouin doesn't matter, they have the best defenseman in the league.

Trades: 2 took place at free agency before the August 21 roster freeze. Riviere St-Denis, Edmunston, Val-Maurice and Baie-Eternite have already frozen rosters at the Champion's Hockey League.

Lac Drouin trades Ilya Sarkovich to Port Aubin for Serge Denis

Cote-Manicougan trades Petr Powell, Jean LeDrapeu, and a 5th Round Pick to Val-Maurice for Cedrick Desjardins and a 1st Round pick

AmpiSport Champion's League: Season 2

Football isn't that popular in Sicoutimont, 5th behind Hockey, Baseball, Lacrosse and Gridiron. However, the Champion's League is the biggest sporting league now after the change of organization, which has a 20-team Champion's League, and a 10-team Serie-2. Winners of the Champion's League now go to UICA finals, and the Copa de Campeones. 2 teams from the ASCL will be relegated to the Serie-2, and the top-2 in the Serie-2 are promoted. Top-8 in the Champion's League make the playoffs, and no playoffs are contested in the Serie-2. Awards are now the Golden Boot for top striker, Silver Boot for most points, Top Manager, Golden Glove for best goalie, and MVP for the league's most valuable player. Golden Boot and Golden Glove are given in the Serie-2 as well. Here are the ASCL results:

Puck Drop!: SHL Season a wild one, Playoffs Could Be Legendary

This year's edition of the SHL Regular Season is finished, fans. 2 new expansion teams brought the league to a new standard of play. This season, the top 4 in each divison didn't qualify, the top 8 overall qualify. So, winning you divison does not necessarily mean you make the playoffs. President Georges Allure hopes that this will make the playoffs more exciting, and feed out the bad teams. Here are the results:

Game 6 was a game that Mont St-Jean could have won, put the Isles away, but they didn't take the Isles seriously, giving 7 turnovers in the first 10 minutes. Ile de Loup built a 3-0 lead after 2, and a last-minute empty net goal put it away. Jean-Luc Girard's 2nd-Period marker proved to be the winner for the Isles in Game 7, with Dominic Debre keeping the puck away from the back of the net. Isles fans, your time is now. St-Pierre fans can no longer mock, "35 years, 0 Cups". Isles fans are on top of the Sicoutian Hockey world. Congrats!

After Ile de Loup skated away with the Cup, the offseason began. Also, for the haters, last year's playoff format has been scraped, and the top 4 in each conference will make the playoffs, 1W vs 4E, and 1E vs 4W, and so on. The champion will take the Lafayette Cup.

This season's draft saw an expected top 5, and almost every pick was expected. Here are the top 5:

It would be a great achievement for a club who only just entered the SHL. Since the next SHL season will be completed before the cut-off for the next CHL, Ile de Loup retain there spot as Lafayette Cup winners, then the 2 finalists and regular season champions from this season will be included. Lac Drouin may bid to host, depending on how the Tigres perform this season.

Sicoutimont Series
After last year's SS, you knew both of these teams were going to return to be great teams. Francis Boullion of the Mets is the best Sicoutian player in the league, but this year newcomer from Porto-San Pablo on San Christopher Island, a baseball haven, Victor Santana hit .401 batting average. When tested for drugs, Santana was shown to have taken no drugs in the past 23 years, his entire life. Here's the full preview of Cards and Mets:

Defense
Pitcher Javier Perreois of the Cards won the Golden Glove this season, and is definently the best starter in the league. However, the Card's bullpen blew 9 saves this season, which would have put them far and away one of the best teams in Sicoutian ball history. Mets pitcher Claude Perrault, the famed closer, can and will steal games in the finals.

Both teams have been to a Sicoutimont Series final. However, the Mets have 20 players with a SS Ring, and the Cardinals have 1.

Mets win their 2nd Sicoutimont Series Title in 4 games!
So, game 1 seemed close. Game 2 was a 15-inning barnburner till the end, with a heroic performance for a Grand Slam from Victor Santana in the bottom of the 15th to give the Mets the wins. Game 3 was close till the 8th Inning when Santana put home 2 runners, and Jean Barries RBI'd 2 more. Game 4, when the Cards needed a win, was just a sloppy performance by the Cards pitching staff. Santana went 6 for 6, including 2 home runs. Santana was presented the AmpiSport Playoff MVP Award for his performance in the Met's historic run. In the end, Baie-Eternite didn't play like the team that won 114 games in the Regular Season, and the Mets played like the team that had just come off winning a Sicoutimont Series.
