"No way. I can't understand it; Audioslavia lost to Cowardly Pacifists? How... humiliating.
"You think so?"
"I think our Panicky Poultry opposition put a kind of gypsy jinx on our guys.
"I don't think so"
"But it's odd. Curious.

With a delay, the Empire of Cafundéu selects Government Council football team to represent country

(OOC: very late, but this is the roster)

Following a strategy previously used in the Dragonii Inviyatii, Cafundéu is fielding a team composed by the main politicians of the country, in a way to attract the public to them, making these politicians more famous and therefore increasing their chances of winning elections. More than this, mixing politicians from different parties would help in their relationship inside the parliament. This suggestion from one of the top parliament members of Cafundéu was then accepted: a team formed by the most influential members of Cafundéu's government, without counting the Royal Family.

Style: Balanced

Here is the list of 23 players (number-name [party, position]):

Use the BOLDED names of my players, but not in all capitals, when RPing - these are the names they use on their shirts, which may be titles/nicknames/first names/surnames/etc, there's not a standard on why they use a specific name

Goalkeepers:

1- Justo DÓRIO (ACEC, Minister of Marketing)
12- DOUGLAS Vassouras NETO (PD, Minister of Energy)
22- Josiane Minter PLAMONTE (PT, Minister of Education)

Full-Backs:

2- Beatriz Fagundes HESSIN (PSL, Minister of Taxes)
6- COUNTESS Vanessa FARIAS (PNC, Minister of Foreign Issues)
14- Inácio Goulart FORTALEZA (UTC, Minister of Work)
16- Gabriela LANCELOTE (PSDM, Minister of Tourism)

Defenders:

3- Gustavo Barbosa MERVO (PT, Minister of Production)
4- GENERAL Gabriel ARCOVERDE (PM, Minister of Defence)
13- Haroldo Gomes CORREIA (PETM, Minister of Technology)
21- LORD Mathias CAMPI (PNC, Chancellor)

Defensive Midfielders:

5- JUDGE Karina ALRADE (APN, Minister of Justice)
8- Marcos Paulo GALHEIRA (PEN, Minister of Finances)
15- Carlos Alberto FASER (PEN, Minister of Transport)
20- André PACHECO Gonzaga (PTC, Minister of Cities)

Offensive Midfielders:

7- Devir MALBRANDO (PI, Head Counselor of Cafundéu)
11- ANA Paula Viana JARDINI (PI, Minister of Communications)
17- Matias MIRAMAR (PEN, Minister of Culture)
19- Cecília Tupinambá DE MELO (PSL, Minister of Environment)

Attackers:

9- BARON Mathias CHAUVERT (PI, Minister of Sports)
10- SAID AL-JASSEB (PLN, Minister of Health)
18- Genivaldo AMOREIRA (PI, Chief of Civil House)
23- CARDINAL Lineu Caldas TRINDADE (PRUC, Minister of Religious Issues)

Coach: Prince Hector Van Tocco (PI)

Party acronyms (only those which have representatives on the squad):
ACEC - Aliança Comercial Executiva Cafundelense (Cafundéu's Executive and Commercial Alliance)
PD - Partido Democrático (Democratic Party)
PT - Partido Trabalhista (Labour Party)
PSL - Partido Social Liberal (Social Libertarian Party)
PNC - Partido da Nobreza Cristã (Christian Nobility Party)
UTC - União Trabalhadora Cafundelense (Cafundéu's Workers' Union)
PSDM - Partido Social Democrata Moderno (Modern Social Democrat Party)
PM - Partido Militar (Military Party)
PETM - Partido da Evolução Tecnológica Mundial (World Technological Evolution Party)
APN - Aliança Progressista Nacional (National Progressive Party)
PEN - Partido Empresarial Nacional (National Business Party)
PTC - Partido das Taxas e Custos (Costs and Taxes' Party)
PI - Partido Imperial (Imperial Party)
PLN - Partido do Lucro e Negócio (Business and Profits Party)
PRUC - Partido Rural Cristão (Christian Rural Party)

Formation (offensive 4-4-2):

------------------------------Dório------------------------------
-----Hessin-------------Mervo--------Arcoverde--------Farias-----
------------------Alrade----------------Galheira-----------------
-------Malbrando----------------------------------Jardini--------
-------------- -----Chauvert-----Al-Jasseb---------------------

Tactic: What is the simplest solution?
The Cafundelense politicians will always want to do things with the minimal effort possible, so they can have time for things more important than running the country, such as playing pool or watching the television. This will also happen on the field, with a fast style full of long passes.

Our Cockatiels

Eh?
That was the joke-name some of the Belles’ supporters gave to Cafundeu’s team as yesterday’s match ended.
Hwhy, you ask? Because although a colourful flock, and hrrather hrraucous, they were — much as the ‘gypsy-thrush’ that also shares the name — of small use to anybody, answer those fans…

Shines of a(n?) Angel
Yes, really, we have seen a goal. No gypsy mystic soothsayer ever likely to predict this scarcity in the goal department; however, deflected shot finds way into net at midpoint of second half. Was heading well wide, then divine intervention sends ball neatly past hapless keeper. Kytlerians jointly top table.
Out of international isolation and... winning things? Huh?

"Transcending Towards Pseudo Vagina"

Said Jeremy Jaffacake, allegedly, on the Paladins win over Starblaydia. He was channeled via Yekaterina, a gypsy soothsayer. She clearly does not care that Mr. Jaffacake is alive and capable of making his own comments, finishing her séance by yelling "G'night bitches!" and dashing off to the nearest watering-hole.

Shines of an Angel

Dessert was the prize of choice for the small ponies after their draw against ASMV. Gypsies roamed nearby the small bar at which the fillies and colts celebrated happily. Appleshine had shone on offense and defense to help the ponies to yet another scoreless draw. Their next match: the leaders.

The draw for the quarterfinals will take place Thursday evening, around 10pm GMT.

Quarter-Final Challenges
The QFs will be scored on Friday evening.

Your RP must be precisely fifty words long, and include the word of the day sent to my phone by Dictionary.com this afternoon: Chrestomathy

The Polarian Challenge - your next RP must begin with the last letter of your last post. Or number, if that's what you finished on. Haven't posted yet? Your next RP must begin with the letter A, with the second word in your RP beginning with the letter Y, the third with T, and the fourth with T. As in, Are You Taking The (but not that).

Courtesy of Liventia, we have an extension to this challenge. The last letter of your RP must be the last letter of your most recent opponent (i.e. their country name). Ouch!

Today is also the picture round, as suggested by Cowardly Pacifists. Under each spoiler is a picture garnered from 'random' search on google images. Pick a pic and use it as the basis of your RP. You can either copy and paste the image url into your post, or just refer to it by name if that suits you better. Some of them come with cheesy captions, feel free to ignore.

Final Reminder
I'm always getting letters with that on, so it's nice to give one out for a change.

I think I probably have all the four-word submissions from the regular RPers on the thread, but anyone who has not submitted, I would be grateful if you could do so within the next day or so, thanks. As a reminder, I need:

1. An exclamation
2. An adverb
3. A noun
4. An adjective

Look! Right there! Eight whole goals were scored! And we're going up! Not to the integ or epser position, alas. (These mean "first" and "second" in Earad. For some chrestomathy, consider "Integ Brandel," that is, Earent's "First Division.") But at least we can fight for the bowl. Bring it on!

Even Bagface - TV's beloved canine superhero - could not cure Coach's melancholy. Cranky Coach evaluates two more players:

Craig Wimpson: Fine job shutting down Daehanjeiguk's attack.

Mathew Shivrson: Missed two clean shots on goal. Really needs to read the chrestomathy I developed on "How to Strike before you're Struck."

"Over here. There's a Karditani pony staring at us" said Jeremy, by the window. Rubio approached.
"Odd. Have you tried telling her to go away?"
"I don't speak Karditani"
"Well, use a chrestomathy"
"I want to tell her to fuck off, not check her blood pressure"
"Fair point", said Rubio

Even an eight goal draw against Darmen couldn't dampen Liventian spirits.

"It's amazing to be top of the group," noted captain George Bowler; "things could be so much worse."

"Yeah, like having your block of flats demolished by a giant football… like the one we just passed," mused Reece Wilson.

"Chrestomathy!? My chrestomathy's gone!?"

Dermott McLean, a keen linguist had perhaps the largest chrestomathy collection in Ancharmunn. Or he used to.

"Aye, correct." came the reply down the phone, "Your moterhome was stolen and crashed, before burning."

Like Ancharmun's Brevity Cup dreams, his linguistic anthology lie tattered on the asphalt.
I'm not on the Greenwich Meridian so my time is a few seconds behind. Bear that in mind.

Neighing and running along the beach like a Karditani pony wasn't the smartest thing Galard had ever done, considering all the keen-eyed photographers and the captioning power of the web, but it felt awesome.

Bocandé was nearby, engrossed in language lessons; Galard couldn't resist kicking sand in his Astograthian chrestomathy.

Cut-off time for the Quarter-final ties. I feel I should say something scyphozoan, but maybe I should leave that to the competitors.

Semi-Final Challenges

It's a double-whammy: not part of the deal I know, but as you'll no doubt be aware Kukalayans are notorious last-minute rule-changers. So there are two RPs required for this one, and read carefully, logistics are everything now...

First, your regular RP

It's double allowance round! That's right, ONE HUNDRED WHOLE WORDS! Dust off the quills, it's time for your latest epic.

Your RP must be precisely 100 words long, and include the word of the day sent to my phone by Dictionary.com this afternoon: Ingeminate

A poetic challenge courtesy of ASMV: your RP must rhyme - I will leave the form & metre to you.

The Polarian Challenge - your next RP must begin with the last letter of your last post. Or number, if that's what you finished on. Haven't posted yet? Your next RP must begin with the letter R, with the second word in your RP beginning with the letter W, the third with N, the fourth with T, and the fifth with L. As in, Really? What, Now? This Late? (but not that).

Second, the silly bit

This challenge comes courtesy of Daehanjeiguk: It's the MAD LIB challenge. Note this is an entirely different RP to the one above. There is a perfect illustration of Mad Libbing on Wikipedia.

Important Logistical Note: TG the mad lib RP to me please, DON'T POST IT ON THE THREAD. Same arrangement as before - those ranked above 1 point in the OP (that's from K-P up) please TG the words to me here at Kukalaya. All those of a single rank point, please TG Zenega. Cut-Off will be Sunday 10pm-midnight GMT.

So, I want a 50 word precisely RP, that is structured in any way to include an exclamation, an adverb, a noun and an adjective, in any order you want. What you RP about is entirely up to you. In your RP, don't include the noun, but create a space for it by writing (noun)... and so on. You should have an RP which does not include but indicates where four vital words will go. (It will really help to see the Wiki example at this point to understand what I'm asking for!).

Once TGed to me, I will pull another participant's word list from the TGs I've had already and insert them into your RP in the right places. Where I have them, I will use the words of your forthcoming opponent. If not I will select from others by doing a random.org randomisation but making sure that your own words aren't used in your RP, and I'll publish the whole lot shortly after the scorination of the semi-finals. If we get more RP submissions than I have word lists (currently 18 of 24), I'll do some random filling using watchout4snakes.com.

There will be a basic bonus only for this part - either you get one for taking part, or you don't for not. Quality won't be graded, since it is only partially under your control.

If this makes no sense whatsoever, query me via TG or in the OOC.

"Krytenia didn't put up much a fight."
Carnac's balancing act was quite a sight;
He held a glass in his left hand and a tome in his right;
He flipped a page with his nose and turned on a light.

"Slip and slither, slide and sink.
Listen to the snake and listen for the fink.
Pray not say what enters your head;
What comes of thy mouth makes thy bed.
Let me ingeminate;
Loose lips will seal your fate."

With a flick of the wrist,
And a look as grave as the cist,
Carnac scratched another name off his list.

<Karditan> Sssshh, some people haven't caught onto our man love, Audio.
<Audio> I'm drunk, I'll express my manlove for whomever I damned well please
<Karditan> And now, for a stirring rendition of the Equestrian States national anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmVWvOC_2HU
<Audio> why did I even click on that?
<Nephara> why did I expect that to be
<Audio> what was I expecting?
<Nephara> anything other than it was

Exceptional! Four goals without reply!
A scoreline we need to ingeminate;
Pretentiousness must surely be required;
This warrants more than just to celebrate!

The rhyming couplets rather fit the game
For two great players both secured a brace;
Against, let's not forget, a team still famed
For making progress at a frightening pace.

But much the same is said of Arthur Moon,
Marauding left-back speeding down the wing;
He's jealous of the strikers, I assume
And cut inside for strikes that sealed the win.

By then, however, Stamp had done the trick;
A header and a volley from the Guy.
Out of international isolation and... winning things? Huh?
