World Cup of Hockey 18 Everything Thread

Welcome to the 18th edition of the World Cup of Hockey, the highest competition for hockey in the NS-verse. This edition will be hosted by the Unbidden Communist Republic of Yesopalitha. There are sixty nations signed up for this edition; if you are not one of the sixty, commiserations, and come around for the next edition! Here is the nitty gritty of the tournament:

Format
With sixty nations taking part, there will be ten groups of six nations each. The qualifying (non-playoff) stage will be a home-and-away affair of all the teams in the group (meaning that the home-ice bonus will be used). Three points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw. There will be a BYE day mid-group stage, and then the second leg will commence. At the end of the group stage, all of the group winners and the two best second-placers will auto-qualify for the playoffs; the other eight teams will play each other in a 13 vs 20, 14 vs 19, 15 vs 18, and 16 vs 17 format at the higher seeded team's venue (meaning that the higher ranked team will have home-ice advantage) for the final spots.

The actual tournament part will then take place in Yesopalitha, which will be considered neutral ice even if the Yesopalitha Flames somehow make it to that part. The playoffs will then be put into a rigid bracket and that bracket will be followed. (The winners of the play-in games will be re-seeded.) All of the playoffs will be single matches except for the finals, which will be a best-of-three affair. There will be a Third-Place Playoff, but it will consist of one match. If tied after three periods, the game will go to overtime and then to shoot-outs.

Schedule
Here is the tentative schedule for this tournament:
Saturday, April 28th - Pre-Qual Friendlies
Sunday, April 29th - Matchday 1
Monday, April 30th - Matchday 2
Tuesday, May 1st - Matchday 3

Wednesday, May 16th - Finals Game 2
Thursday, May 17th - Finals Game 3 (If necessary)

All days are scheduled to be cutoff at 8PM PDT. If I cannot make it at this time for whatsoever reason, I shall endeavor to inform you at least six hours early.

RP Bonus
Remember that every day, you can earn up to 1 point by RPing. Also remember that RP bonus is cumulative, and that RPing doesn't guarantee that you win, it just helps you have a better chance.

#1 vs #16 - @ Holy Templar Dome, Freedom's Altar (Cap. 10,000) - Situated in downtown Freedom's Altar, the Holy Templar Dome is the home of the Freedom's Altar Holy Templars. This Dome is a state-of-the art facility with nice, plush seating and an environment that makes the crowd feel like it is part of the action.

#8 vs #9 - @ SmartCube Rink, Denal-Ithorn (Cap. 11,000) - The home rink of the New Denal-Ithorn Warriors of the YHL. Known for having underground entrances as well as having enough supports to be able to withstand the frequent earthquakes in the region. The facility is about three years old, and was built by SmartCube Inc., one of Yesopalitha's biggest companies.

#4 vs #13 - @ Irkan Memorial Stadiuim, Irkan City (Cap. 8,000) - Honors the memory of Irkan, one of the greatest civil rights activists in Yesopalithan history. Has an older feel to it, but also very well made. Home to the Irkan City Swarm.

#5 vs #12 - @ Turtle's Pond, Hansbrough (Cap. 10,000) - The Hansbrough Turtles call this venue home. Notorious for the weird shape of the stadium - like a turtle's shell. Not very friendly to visitors during the YHL season, they should be in best behavior for the WCoH crowd.

#3 vs #14 - @ BeneficialBank Rink, Kingston (Cap. 9,000) - The home of the Lynx, built by the financial company of Beneficial Bank. It gets very hot in Kingston, so this stadium has the best cooling system, one that keeps the rink from melting even in the hottest of days.

#6 vs #11 - @ Beavers' Dam, Raxton (Cap. 10,000) - For some reason, Yesopalithan engineers like to make the stadium look like what the team's mascot is based on. This stadium does look like a dam of sorts. It's rectangular, and the outside of it is made purely of wood. Besides the authentic feel, state-of-the-art technology makes this place one of the must-sees if you are a sports fan and touring Yesopalitha.

#7 vs #10 - @ Glistening Star, Etoile (Cap. 11,000) - Etoile, the city of the stars, the "green city" of Yesopalitha, has Glistening Star as its jewel. Glistening Star was built by the Yesopalitha Environmental Protection Agency, and is made so that all of the energy it uses is green energy and that it doesn't manufacture harmful waste. It is a marvel of technology as well as a wonderful thing to look at.

#2 vs #15 - @ YM Stadium, Wolvesbane (Cap. 12,000) - Wolvesbane is the auto capital of Yesopalitha, and YM (Yesopalitha Motors) built the stadium for the Dragoons. Located at the downtown of the "techno-savvy" city of Yesopalitha, this place always has the latest technology, as well as some of the greatest food, although there is no correlation between the two.

After the Round of 16, the Quarterfinals will be held at Freedom's Altar, Irkan City, Raxton, and Etoile. the Semifinals will be held at Freedom's Altar and Etoile. The third place match will occur at Etoile, while the Finals will be held at the crown jewel of Yesopalithan Engineering, The Sacred Heart, in Freedom's Altar, with its 144,000 capacity seating.

Starting Line-ups:
Kevin Hautifi/G/#16/AGE: 21
Kevin is a strong 41 year-old man that owns and pwns everyone at goalie. He has only let26 pucks in the net his whole carrer. Also, If you get a puck in, you will die!!...In the morning. Kevin has never been injuried or stuck to something in any way.

Daylon Orali/LDM/#2/AGE: 27
Standing at 6,3 and weighing at 202 lbs is none other than the great Left defense man Daylon Orali! He is a beast at defending and can stop anyone dead in their tracks, Literally, he stops people and kills them. Be afraid! Anyhow, Daylon is a good hockey player and an average person.

Michael Buckley/RDM/#3/AGE: 26
Michael isn't good at defending, nor does he know what a Right Defense man is. But, he does know that he can play hockey better than anyone on the team. He is a pro at hockey. Just like how Jaleel White was good at basketball.

Jake Gaisdui/C/#7/AGE: 25
Jake is a German-American who can play just like everyone else. He is good at centerfowarding, he's a nice person, and loves the game of hockey. He is often reffered to as a "hockey fantic or fanboy" but he only likes the game, he doesn't worship it! Why? Do you think he goes to The Holy Church of Hockey Pucks?! Seriously?!!

Dimitri Roberazzi/LWF/#5/AGE: 22
Dimitri is a freshly drafted Russian hockey player. Russians are good at hockey, right? (no offense). Dimitri is from Vladivostok, Russia and played as a foward in the Russia Men's Olympic Hockey Team in the winter Olympics. He dreams of becoming a pro hockey player and move to Anarctican to play in the Anarctica Hockey Team, which doesn't exist but try telling him that! Dimitri is a nice person and has little temper issues.

Alexei Borodin/RWF/#10/AGE: 23
Alexei Borodin was a former Teinohikiran hockey player. And now he is back. Alexei is from Vladivostok, Russia and played as a foward in the Russia Men's Olympic Hockey Team in the winter Olympics. He dreams of becoming a pro hockey player and move to Alaska to play in the Alaskan Hockey Team, which doesn't exist but try telling him that! Alexei is a nice person and has little temper issues.

We're Plutoni and the robots are in italics.

RPers can do whatsoever they want. Most of the team generally doesn't tend to start fights, though will fight back if provoked. Ludov, Likilu, and Billian are more likely to instigate stuff.

Coach: Kaith Holong (Southeast Giants)

Goaltenders (in priority order, Ludov starts):

#12, Tantre Ludov (Northeast Demons) (debuted in WCoH 16)
#2, Bain Kensin (Nuusuburban IHC) (first tournament)

#21, Jonathan Mazinski (Northwest Combatants -> Kent Kentmen, Civil Citizenry) (first tournament)

Defenders (left defenders on top):
Line 1:
#13, Mikayla Glean (Northwest Combatants) (1 goal since WCoH 17)
#9, Mashir Kletch (Downtown Divers) (first tournament)
Line 2:
#7, David Chiu (Midtown Monks) (1 goal since WCoH 16)
#17, Yvette Huang (Central X-Treme) (first tournament)
Line 3:
#14, Bretch Noncha (Southern Superstars) (3 goals since WCoH 16)
#8, Casey Packle (East Anteaters) (2 goals since WCoH 17)

Forwards: (left wing, then center, then right)
Line 1:
#15, Pusin Coud (Char Bloodhounds) (debuted in WCoH 17)
#10, Chloe Heath (Northwest Combatants) (debuted in WCoH 17)
#3, Steft Likilu (Eastern Gunners) (2 goals since WCoH 16)

Line 2:
#18, Brandle Hethgard (Southeast Giants) (first tournament)
#5, Samuel Lawrence (South Borogoves -> Ventrell Techmen, Civil Citizenry) (first tournament)
#11, Rumen Elenter (Downtown Cougars) (debuted in WCoH 17)

Line 3:
#16, Parik Lutosh (Southwest Soarers) (4 goals since WCoH 17)
#20, Stofim Pash (Western Jacks) (5 goals since WCoH 17)

#1, Ryan Billian (Exurbia Humanizts) (2 goals since WCoH 17)

Line 4:
#6, Bryling Huves (Northern Pinnacles) (first tournament)
#19, Mevsit Trilum (Downtown Divers) (first tournament)
#4, Resska Luskee (Upper Force) (first tournament)

After months of practicing in-between regular season games, the Bisons are ready to take on the world again in the Eighteenth Edition of the World Cup of Hockey.

Coming into this tournament with the highest ranking ever achieved by the Ice Bisons --- 3rd out of 108 ranked nations --- the Ice Bisons have overtaken teams of great legend; Qazox, Polar Islandstates, Cotdelapoms, Darmen, Mangolana, Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk... All now lower ranked than us. Even the mighty she-beasts failed to rank above our ad'ike in the final rankings released by Cafundeu a few days ago.

In a change from tournaments the Ice Bisons have faced in years past, the Eighteenth Edition of the World Cup of Hockey brings home-and-away style of qualifying to the world stage of hockey. In years past, all nations played their games in the host nation, from the first match of qualifying to the last game of the Finals. In this game, the matches will be played on home ice during the first leg of the match and then away for the second; very similar to how the World Cup of Football is worked. In the Playoffs, it will be a single match, in which the winning team advances and the losing team goes home empty handed...

How exciting!!!

To honour the return of the Ice Bisons to the International Stage, GyatsoAir --- in partnership with the AHL and the

National Sports Council --- have further reduced the prices of airline tickets to Yesopalitha to facilitate the spectatorship of the nation for this historic series if the team advances into the host-nation games; given the great distances to Yesopalitha, the National Sports Council has pulled together with the Avatarian Federation of Lodging Institutions to create several packages available which will include lodging for the duration of the series as well as airplane tickets. These partnerships are intended on boosting the attendance of Avatarian Fans at the World Cup of Hockey XVIII. In addition, each game the Bisons play in shall be aired on the entire ASPN family of networks (ASPN Prime, ASPN2, AVS, ASPN3, UASPN): All other games shall air on the World Sports Nation and World Sports Nation PLUS. If the Bisons make it to the higher rungs of the World Cup, then all games shall be aired exclusively on ASPN Prime, which is being made available on all television and internet-provider services at NO COST from now until the conclusion of the World Cup.

GK – 41– SHU Huanguo
Height: 183cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 39 years old – Hand: L - Team: Montréal Royals (CDP)
The ‘Great Wall of Shu’ makes his third trip to the World Cup of Hockey, after a troubling season in Cotdelapoms; with the Royals coming in second during the regular season, Shu was set for another terrific performance. However, in the Quaterfinals, the Montréal Royals simply collapsed under the strength of lower-ranked Montréal Cotdelapomais being outshot throughout six games. When spoke to after the 5-3 final game of the series, Shu spoke of coming home; though, when is the uncertain question. He is loved by the Royals fans in Cotdelapoms, and he will be playing in the Guerre d'Hiver this CHL season; yet another accolade to add to his ever-growing resumé.

His style of play has not changed since he’s left the AHL; your classic butterfly goalie with more of the modern profly positioning of his leg pads, Shu had the fastest reflects of any goaltender in the AHL and now has shown the world his skills. However, he is not as agile as men of shorter stature and as such, is known to lose the puck on the rebound as he attempts to 'catch up' to the play… something he still has not worked around while in Montréal.

LD – 32– SATO Sorua
Height: 191cm - Weight: 100kg – Age: 22 years old – Hand: R - Team: Enceri Miners

A strong defenceman who Skirata has favoured since the Third World Junior Hockey Championships, Sato Sorua is a integral piece of the Bisons' defence. Just one year into his professional career, as predicted, he was drafted early on to the Enceri Miners and so far as helped secure third place in the Eastern Conference Regular Season, as well as taking his team all the way to the Eastern Conference finals, before losing the series 4-2 against the Beijing Stars.

A strong defence player, Sato originally played the right side of the ice, however, Coach Skirata feels that a good defenceman can play both sides and as such, Sato has been switched up to test the theory. One of the greatest back-skaters in the game, he has become a regular facet of the Ice Bisons' defence.

RD – 32– Pakku ITO - ASSISTANT CAPTAIN
Height: 193cm - Weight: 108kg – Age: 31 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

The seasoned veteran of the Defensive line, Pakku Ito is returning to National Team with another great season under his belt. Awarded the Shield Trophy for the Most Valuable Defensive Player for the second time in during The 2012.2 Playoffs, Ito has shown time and time again that the trade from The North has definitely played into his favour.

Great on the backskate and known for perfect poke-checking skills, Ito’s greatest strength is his ability to read the ice and predict the play with an uncanny certainty. He isn’t afraid of getting rough, which with his Mandalorian background, should come at no surprise. After three-peating the Kuruk Cup and repeating the Shield Trophy, Ito has continued to prove he is simply an invaluable asset to any team he is on.

LW - 02 – Arnook ISHIDA
Height: 188cm - Weight: 92kg – Age: 22 years old – Hand: L - Team: Albionpool Oak Leafs (CDP)

A solid winger capable of playing both sides of the ice equally, Arnook Ishida's only weakness is his age; though he was drafted at 18 to the Flames, he has gained little experience in the more-offence-based Fire Division and, after three years in Cotdelapoms, his skill-set has begun to show a development.

A pivotal part of the future of Albionpool, as they try once (or twice) more to push for the Dumas Cup, Ishida continues to make the big plays. However, once the Oak Leafs secure the Dumas Cup, he may be trade bait after that. Although, no one is sure if he really likes the big city of Albionpool after all, so who knows where he would want to go.

The star forward of the six-time Kuruk Cup Champions, Hakoda Ishii returns to lead the Ice Bisons in yet another World Cup appearance...

A strong centre, Ishii is able to coordinate many a great highlight goal: With tremendous vision and terrific passing skills, he is the best two-way player in Gyatso-kai. Looking to do even better this time around, you can be sure that Ishii shall light the lamp at least once every game.

RW – 08–Wad'e TAY'HAAI
Height: 183cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 22 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

One of the star players of the World Junior Hockey Championships with two goals and six assists, Wad’e Tay’haai proved to be even more of an asset to the National team last World Cup after the Ngo Fiasco; following Ngo's fall from grace, Tay'haai was brought up to the first line where he flourished under the stars Hakoda Ishii and Kuruk Ikeda during World Cup of Hockey 17. After such a great performance, it should come as no surprise that Tay'haai was drafted in the first round of the 2012.1 AHL Draft by the Itakawai Lightning, where he now plays alongside Ishii.

A very strong youthful skater, the fact that Tay’haai garnished a position on the first line is a testament to his strength. A powerful right-winger, his skill in the faceoff is impressive, having yet to lose a faceoff in his entire ACSA career.

LD – 18 – KO Piandao
Height: 188cm - Weight: 95kg – Age: 27 years old – Hand: R - Team: St-Fortunat Saints(CDP)

Incredibly accurate with his passing and known for his interception skills, Ko has seen some great development while he played in Cotdelapoms. His strength is still one of his greatest assets, an asset he is not afraid to use on the ice; known for putting more than his fair share of men into the boards, Ko garnishes at least two penalties a game for his roughness... Something he is proud of. Many analysis in Cotdelapoms feel that he is simply too good for the Saints, but Ko's devotion and loyalty mean he will not leave them any time soon unless he is physically kicked out the door.

When asked to describe Ko, Coach Skirata compared him to his namesake, the dao --- or sword--- in that he teters on the edge of a finely-honed blade, and just a simple push will slice you in half: Ko is known to divide players with his impressive size and muscle pucks away from the foes before passing them off to an open player. While his shot power is weaker than most players, his accuracy is second only to five-time All-Star Shot Contest winner Hakoda Ishii.

RD – 05 – FENG Tao
Height: 183cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 30 years old – Hand: L - Team: Île-d'Elisabeth Osprey(CDP)

Playing in the AHL for four years and the last three years in the CHL, Feng Tao is just your average player in the CHL; not great, not bad. With his team, the Osprey, not being particularly good anymore --- for one reason or another --- many would like to see Feng move to either the Royals to join Shu or even the Saints to re-unite him with Ko. They played together in Omashu for three seasons before Ko was traded to Northern the season before CDP, so perhaps some chemistry could still exist between them. Feng is known for being a 'double threat", equally able to pull back and block any pass made by the opposition, only to turn that pass around and snipe a shot into goal.

While is backskating is impressive, Feng has struggled with the switch ever since a torn Achielles tendon weakened his right ankle three seasons ago: Many blame his less-than-stellar performance in the WCoH15 on that injury and he has continued the conditioning of that ankle to increase its strength, In addition, he heavily favours the foreshot, almost never taking a backhand to the puck and nearly always shoots from the right side of the ice: Though his style is predictable, the speed and finesse he gives the shot makes the end-result unpredictable.

LW – 26 – Walon VAU
Height: 182cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 21 years old – Hand: R - Team: Keldabe State University

Starting out in WCoH XVI as a reserve player, Vau made great strides in his improvement and was placed into the second string offence. Since then, he has finished his final term at KSU and is set to be drafted by the Itakawai Lightning in the second round during the 2012.3 AHL Draft, through some dealings made between multiple coaches and Skirata himself.

Given his strong backhanded shots, Vau is known for his trademark backward's skating goals at KSU; sending a puck on his left side while skating backwards at the last minute. A little childish in Skirata's opinion, but none the less, it garnishes the support of the fans who always enjoy a little showmanship. After spending the last few months working with both Tay'haai and Ishii, Vau is beginning to make improvements in his form.

After a mid-season trade to Kyrimorut, Hei Hayate managed to help the Ramikade advance into the Playoffs after securing a first-place position in the regular season. His natural leadership skills, combined with such a fiery charisma, makes Hei a great leader, though to Skirata, he needs a few more years experience before he gets to wear the C.

A very strong centre, much like his first-line counterpart, Hei is known for his strength at coordinating the forward line to execute many a great plays. With excellent vision and adequate stick handling, Hei has earned the respect of his team while maintaining the strength and form of players much younger than him.

RW - 44 – Kal SKIRATA
Height: 188cm - Weight: 86kg – Age: 20 years old – Hand: L - Team: Keldabe State University

A natural talent, Kal Skirata's skill comes as no surprise, given the history of the Skirata Clan in the Avatarian Sports. However, while the skill Skirata possesses is valued, his experience in international play is low, which is reflected in his nerves as he skates on the ice. Quick to act and slow to think, Kad'buir hopes to break his son of this habit in the weeks leading to the World Cup. He is a strong forward skater, with impressive vision capable of seeing the entire ice and analysing threats; however, Skirata will need to settle into the ice before he jumps up the roster.Returning to his original position of right-wing, whereas in tournaments past he skated on the left side, Skirata is paired

with his former KSU partner Walon Vau; in what may be their final appearance on the same squad. While the final member of the trio from KSU has been sent to Itakawai, Vau is predicted to be drafted to Itakawai as well, and the fate of Skirata is up for grabs...though he will likely join Itakawai following a series of trades in the coming months to make room under the salary cap...

LD – 91– IWAI Itsuki
Height: 188cm - Weight: 96kg – Age: 29 years old – Hand: L - Team: Kyoshi Warriors

A massive man on the ice, Iwai Itsuki has earned the nickname “The Unagi” after the legendary sea monsters who live around Kyoshi Island. Fast and a hard-hitter, Iwai knows how to use his size to usher an opponent into the boards with little to no chance of their ‘survival’.

With a lack-luster style of passing, Iwai must rely on his right defensive partner to get the rock from opponents while he muscles them out of possession. His shooting skills are weak, however, the speed and agility he possess make up for the lack in offensive skills.

RD – 25 – JIANG Tujing
Height: 193cm - Weight: 99kg – Age: 21 years old – Hand: L - Team: Kyoshi Warriors

While many experts at the WJHC saw a great player in the making with Jiang Tujing, Coach Skirata saw a player in need of work. “Much like a sword”, spoke Skirata, “Jiang needs to be sharpened and honed to a sharp point. I see in him much that I saw in (Ito Pakku) many years ago… and hopefully he can come to age much the same.”

With his size, one would expect such a player to be a physical beast with little else to go for him. Instead, what you get with Jiang is a defenceman whose speed rivals the best centres, whose accuracy rivals the best snipers and whose vision is almost unmatched. However, as Skirata said, he needs work until he becomes a viable option on the first line. Luckily for Jiang, he was drafted in 2012.1, declaring a season early, and was drafted in the fourth round by Kyoshi, where we will work under the tutelage of Fukui Oyaji; one of the AHL's greatest defencemen in history.

Kima Yagone is a puzzle in and of himself; with the body of a defenceman, one would expect to see Kima shoving players into the boards and checking his way to victory. Instead, we see Kima skating around the net, poking pucks through the nets with effortless ability. His speed is unmatched on the third line and his handling skills is on par with the best of his team.

However, for a player of his age, he has been passed between five different teams in four years and has yet to settle in age. Instead, his maturity off the ice is lacking as is his ‘control’. Skirata wil have a hard time reigning in Kima’s mouth and attitude this Championship. Add to this the change from right to left, and Skirata is set to have his hands full of Kima.

Height: 185cm - Weight: 92kg – Age: 25 years old – Hand: R - Team: Republic Capitals

Having worked his way up the line in Republic Centre as he gained the Second Assistant Captain position following the injury of Olof Kolosji, Toru Akiak continues to better his game. However, with such developments small in contrast to those of the younger players, he has yet to shine any brighter; what he needs is a great defining moment, one in which he can show Skirata that he is meant to be a star player.

Being able to do everything well, but nothing great is something which is bothersome to many a coachers; for a player who was drafted three years and has been on two teams in a single year, the gift that Coach Antinanco gave him in the place of 2nd Asst. Captain was in the hopes of giving him a solid future as a Captain; after three seasons without a Captain, many on the Caps fan base want to see a new star rise from the ashes of Shu's departure.

RW– 17 – Jaster GILAMIJ
Height: 186cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 23 years old – Hand: L - Team: Keldabe Strills

The newest player to join the National Team, Jaster Gilamij is the only "shiny" on this team. Coming from a renowned Mandalorian Youth Hockey Development Academy in Keldabe, Jaster played his collegiate hockey in Kibago under a student of Skiratas, Mos Shilosa. This resulted in Gilamij developing a very 'Mandalorian'-style of play; far more adept at sniping the puck from the blue line then at bringing it into the crease, Gilamij is still a little rough on the edges to take a lead position on the Bisons. Quick to draw, quick to shoot, Gilamij will one day be seen as a great player. For now, he is average in all categories,

though with the injury of Ikeda Kuruk, he was bumped from RESERVE status to ACTIVE.

Of note to the Reserve List is the placement of former-first line starter Ikeda Kuruk, whose right ankle strain ended his season with the Omashu Badgermoles about three weeks before the end of the Regular Season. Still listed as "Day to Day", the chances of seeing Ikeda out on the ice this tournament is slime, however, Skirata still has him listed so he may travel and play if ready. In addition, we see that Ngo Du is no longer on the roster; since his stellar performance in WCoH XV to his infamous fall from grace in WCoH XVI, Ngo has seen better days on the National Team. However, with his current residence in Cotdelapoms, Ngo seems to be far happier in the CDP than he ever was in Gyatso-kai...Perhaps he will never return...Perhaps this is just a one tournament absence...

Nation: The Federal Republic of Allamunnic States
Team: Regulars
Team Colors: Royal Blue, Dark Grey,
Style Modifier: +2.5

Home Arena: Triple City Coliseum, Vienna, Ostrea (Capacity: 54,000) - Vienna has a very well-tended-to and modern arena which is shared by several teams, not the least of them being the powerhouse Saint Theodore Saints, along with the Vienna Huskies, and the Innsbruck Valkyries. It's not believed that the Regulars will need all the space (crowds aren't projected to be huge, given that the AHL's regular season is currently on), but if they do, it won't be found wanting.

Choose my scorers: Unless it's absolutely critical to your RP that you choose my scorers, I'd rather you didn't. Feel free to pick the time and/or method of scoring, though. If you need to choose a scorer or two, pick the players most-likely to do it; Braanur, Crist, Rikken, or Kierkegaard, probably.
Penalise my players: Yes, preferably a roughness or contact-related penalty. I’d prefer a TG first to clear it if it's something else.
Eject my players: Yes, if it fits into the game well. Don't simply eject players if it wouldn't make sense from an RP or story standpoint. TG first for anything more serious than a single-game ejection.
Injure my players: Yes, but I determine severity outside of single-game-ending for a player.
Godmod scoring: Make it interesting if you use this. TG with me first.
Godmod injuries: Make it interesting if you use this. TG with me first.
Godmod other events: Make it interesting if you use this. TG me first.

Overview:

A disappointing 2-3-1 finish in the Seventeenth World Cup of Hockey have put coach Kyle Smart on the hot seat (especially in light of his cousin's second-consecutive World Bowl championship), and he's made some changes as a result. It's safe to assume that he, like many fans, is hoping that the motivation from the lackluster campaign will light a motivating fire under this group of players, some familiar, some new.

Of course, recruiting and retaining players has become an increasing challenge as, domestically, the national team's prestige has plummeted. Brought on by mismanagement that saw the team miss a WCoH entirely and come to another unprepared, and the comparatively poor pay, several of the team's more finesse-geared players (Larsson, Maarks, and Saen-Vaalhulm especially) have gone home to play, and many of the replacements brought in are middle-of-the-pack players at best, at least in most cases.

Physicality has generally been a strength of Allamunnic teams, not finesse. It’s those roots that Smart is looking to get back to, as he's brought in more large, strong, physical players as the smaller, more skillful players have departed. A stronger veteran presence will be noticeable on this team, and the team doesn't have the same finesse-geared personnel it has had in years past. It remains to be seen how the team will be affected by this, in terms of results.

Head Coach: Kyle Smart - (Age: 46) - With his cousin Ryan now a two-time champion coach on the gridiron, it's do-or-die time for Smart, who is leading a team coming off of a very disappointing 2-3-1 showing in WCoHXVII and has reason to fear for his job; Frank McDowell and Ryan Smart have both won championships, and the other "Big Four" Allamunnic team coach (the soccer team's Andrew Forsk) that lacks a championship has already lost his job. He's put his job even more fully on the line by changing up a team that hasn't been unsuccessful in the past, instead returning to a power-oriented approach after years of increasing finesse on the team. A playoff victory is pretty much a must for Smart, or he likely won't be back next time.

Players:

Forwards:

First Line:

L#32 Michael Ward (Height: 6'2"; Weight: 236lbs; Age: 35) - Another veteran, Ward has, in years past, fluctuated from a prolific scorer for the Destroyers to a sputtering, heavily-penalized, ineffective dead weight with the Blue Wings. It's anyone's guess as to which of the two Smart's managed to get onto the team, but given the plummet in prestige for the national team and increased-appeal of playing in the AHL for Allamunnic players, it's quite possible the team's in no position to be choosy with Ward, even if he is a bit more of an aggressive loose-cannon than the organization would like.

C#58 Haanryk Dercyk (Height: 6'0"; Weight: 248lbs; Age: 40)(Captain) - Dercyk is a veteran among veterans, and has power, stamina, and accuracy, and all the skills that come with a long-career to go with it. Dercyk will be a crucial part of the team as one of its main leaders, as he increasingly stepped up over the off-season to provide stability and valuable leadership on a team that was finding its identity.

R#22 Theodur Braannur (Height: 6'1"; Weight: 245lbs; Age: 25) - Braannur is arguably the star of the team, and is considered to be one of the most talented Allamunnic hockey players who are active in competition. He excels at stick- and puck-handling, and has a solid amount of speed, with the ability to really put on the burners and skate with the best of them, agile and quick. Combine that with more than the usual amount of Allamunnic physicality and powerful, accurate shooting, and you have arguably the team's premier play-maker on-hand.

Second Line:

L#38 Izaak Crist (Height: 6'0"; Weight: 236lbs; Age: 27) - Crist is a more offensively-geared player, and has more of a nose for the goal than some of the other forwards now with the team. Crist's got plenty of upside, even if he does have sporadic bad games where he will be a liability rather than an asset, but those games happen less often than not, and he at least seems good at recognizing when he's having an off-day and removing himself from the game before he causes too much damage.

C#16 Junn Karlssunn (Height: 6'0"; Weight: 237lbs; Age: 30) - Karlssunn is another new face, but veteran presence. Karlssun has put in a good eight years in the Allamunnic domestic league, and has distinguished himself as a strong supporting player, if a bit lacking in explosiveness or scoring-ability. Karlssunn will likely serve as a supporting player, regardless of who else is in, checking and clearing the middle and setting up other players to score. Likely to amass more than a few assists.

R#41 Danyl Rikken (Height: 6'0"; Weight: 231lbs; Age: 24) - Rikken is another talented youngster with a lot of upside and a nose for the goal. He's more on the inexperienced side than the rest of the forwards, but he's not inexperienced by any means, and will be an important leader on the second line. He'll be a key part of the team's offense.

Third Line:

L#35 Leopold Oakes (Height: 6'3"; Weight: 241lbs; Age: 32) - Oakes is a solid supporting player, at his best when able to play the outside and set up scoring opportunities for other players and retrieving the puck to keep possession after missed-shots or defensive interference. Oakes won't wow anyone with his abilities, but it's of such unremarkable, but efficient players that good teams are made.

C#19 Kyl Schraedur (Height: 6'1"; Weight: 243lbs; Age: 29) - Schraedur is another unremarkable, but useful workmanlike veteran brought in from the domestic league to provide some stabilizing influence and ability to support the team's bigger scoring-threats, as well as do what most Allamunnic players do; play rough and wear down opponents. Stamina and physicality are many Allamunnic players' biggest strength, and Schraedur is no exception.

R#24 Ryan Gage (Height: 6'2"; Weight: 236lbs; Age: 33) - Gage has, in an eleven-year career in the domestic league with three teams, been a middling player, neither a star nor a liability, consistently in the middle of the pack in scoring, but always a solid contributor. Gage will be called on to contribute wherever needed, and is more than capable to fill in for more-effective players.

Defensemen

First Pair:

D#66 Haanryk Grimmur (Height: 6’1”; Weight: 265 lbs; Age: 30)(Assistant Captain) – Grimmur is another experienced, long-time Allamunnic defenseman, working since the days when Artie Weiss was a fixture on the defense. Grimmur is very aggressive and is quite likely to fight, but isn't likely to get in trouble for illegal hits; he knows where the limits are. All the same, having to deal with Grimmur on defense is a profoundly unpleasant experience for opposing forwards.

D#71 Hailey Kierkegaard (Height: 5'7"; Weight: 174lbs; Age: 22) - Kierkegaard is pretty much the only skill-oriented player left on the team, and even that's because she's one of the more physical-play-inclined players on the team, even if she lacks the size that most of the others have to work with. As a result, Kierkegaard may not be quite as effective as some of the other defensemen in that respect, but she's easily the most versatile of the defenders.

Second Pair:

D#55 Joseph Quinn (Height: 6’0”; Weight: 254 lbs; Age: 29) – Quinn has given solid service on the Allamunnic national team for several years, and maintains a strong working relationship with Grimmur, Kierkegaard, and McKnight. Quinn's large enough to play an enforcer-type role, but his fast and agile enough to be a versatile player, defending both physically and skillfully.

D#95 Thomas McKnight (Height: 6’0”; Weight: 254 lbs; Age: 28) – McKnight is another long-time regular on the Allamunnic squad, and returns once more as a formidable and versatile defender. McKnight has the best working relationship with the other old hands on the defense, but he's flexible, powerful, and quick enough that he can complement anyone.

Third Pair:

D#57 Wilhelm Krueger (Height: 6'1"; Weight: 238lbs; Age: 22) - Krueger is a newer addition to the defense. He's another versatile player, a little light on experience, but quite talented and a good player to develop for the future. Krueger is a little rougher than he probably should be, and is one of the players more-inclined to get penalized or drop his gloves to put fists to faces.

D#61 Paul Myers (Height: 6'2"; Weight: 243lbs; Age: 22) - Myers is another new defenseman added to the team to compensate for the departure of two of the team's other defenders. Myers is similar to Krueger in talent level, but is a little less aggressive. This is both a good and a bad thing, as while he's not as physical a defender (not that he isn't physical in play), he's also less-likely to get in trouble for fighting or acts of random aggression.

Goalkeepers

G#07 Aandrik Stok (Height: 6'1"; Weight: 231lbs; Age: 29) - Aandrik is a crazily-athletic goalie who specializes in making spectacular and efficient saves. He has great stamina, and since the split with the AHL, Stok has assumed the starting goalie's duties. Stok and Galloway alternate starts, and they've met a similar amount of success, but there's no doubt in any observer's mind which is the more efficient of the two. Individually, he's probably more talented than Galloway, but it's offset by being less-likely to cover for the other defenders in a pinch.

G#09 Felix Galloway (Height: 6'0"; Weight: 225lbs; Age: 31) - Galloway has proven himself over several campaigns as an efficient and effective goalie, even if he tends to play less spectacularly than his fellow keeper, and is less of a fan- or media-favorite. Galloway does his job quietly and tends to provide a stable anchor for the defense to work around, and is more inclined than Stok to step up and cover for the other defensemen.

The Thrilledge National Hockey Team

The Thrilledge Dreadlocks return to international hockey after yet another poor showing in the World Cup of Hockey. After starting strong, they ended horribly and failed to reach the playoffs. Thrilledge's home games are played in Dreadlock Arena in Blastings City.

Lines

Forward Line 1
C: Blastings Thrilledge (C)
RW: Casey Bryant (A)
LW: Matt Bryant
Line 1, the main offensive line for Thrilledge is led by the captain Blastings Thrilledge. Thrilledge along with the Bryant twins will look to weave through opposing defenses and move the puck well leading to multiple goals. If Thrilledge wants to make a run to the playoffs, these are the guys to lead them.

Forward Line 2
C: Dwayne Asselmeyer
RW: Gunner Smalls
LW: Sibby Hanson
Line 2 has quite a new look this World cup as big time scorer Hanson gets his chance to shine. A controversial shift of Dwayne Asselmeyer to center on the second line has people talking all around Thrilledge. With the retirement of long time center Patrick Finn, there was a gaping hole and manager Matthew Haering believed Asselmeyer was his guy. These young guns can put some points on the board.

Forward Line 3
C: Trevor Fitzgerald
RW: Murray Bergeson (debut)
LW: Slava Skranfe
Veteran Trevor Fitzgerald leads this line of fighters including winger Slava Skranfe, who led Thrilledge in penalty minutes last World Cup, mostly caused by roughing and fighting. Bergeson has a load of potential but fans are skeptical of his effort at times.

Forward Line 4
C: Cas Robertallia
RW: Corey Sampson
LW: Rolf Condren (debut)
Line 4 is key to Thrilledge's success from scoring to enforcing. Sampson provides the power from his lightning quick one-timers and Robertallia will provide the punch from his hard checks to his fighting. Speedster Rolf Condren looks to see a lot of time in the opponents' ends as he will be the main target on the dump and chase.

Defense Line 1
D: Jack Marlboro
D: Lance Corzdale
This defense, led by THL Defenseman of the Year Jack Marlboro, needs to be able to support this high power offense and Line 1 is the best to do so. With Marlboro's great defense and Corzdale's laser slap shot can stop an opponent's attack and start one of their own

Defense Line 2
D: Henry Gustavino
D: Chris Koni (A)
Line 2 is Thrilledge's offense on defense featuring Chris Koni who has an accurate shot from the point along with some speed on it too. Gustavino finds himself right in the offensive action at times, shooting wristers and getting involved down low.

Defense Line 3
D: Shawn Swank
D: Woody Rosenwald (debut)
Line 3 is not afraid to get down and dirty blocking shots. Swank led the team in blocked shots last cup and he doesn't look to stop soon. Looking to hold a late lead? These guys will do it for you.

Goalies
1:Cory Greenspan (Starter)
2 Grover Chauncey
Cory (CoGreen) Greenspan ended last World Cup with a 2.00 goals against average as he kept Thrilledge in many of their games. Backup Grover Chauncey is not a bad option if CoGreen needs to get pulled.

Ice Hockey has never achieved a great level of popularity in Carmadin. While Carmadin clubs compete in the Southern Rushmore Super League, along with Darmen’s prestigious teams, Carmadin teams have never taken a position higher than fifth in the league. The best (not saying much) Carmadin Teams would be either Abo HC or Bordertown CRM. While they have had minor successes in the SRSL and the Champion’s Hockey League, it is a safe bet that Domestic Hockey will not explode into Carmadin in the future.
The National Team has done little in it’s two appearances. In the World Cup (the one before the most recent one), the team amounted to little, leaving the Group Stage with an abysmal record. The Rushmori Championship, the Coupe Coutu, did little to restore confidence in Carmadin Hockey, as again, Carmadin lost in the group stages, including a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chenkorya, sparking a one-sided rivalry. While Carmadin fans are crazy about sports, expect to see the Men’s games sparsely attended. Also expect, however, for the small smattering of Hockey loyalists there to be loud, vocal, ardent, and sometimes ridiculous. And now, I give to you, Carmadin’s National Men’s Hockey Team!

To have the sound occur twice in a name and be written in Svendogarddi Characters is even rarer. For ye who can’t read Svendogarddi, his name is pronounced “Lohn’l’thihn Thohch’hn”. Mohicia Eagles Team Roster and Information

Head Coach/Manager-Larry Palmquist
Assistant Coach: James Turner

Image

Roster:
Offense
LW
Thomas Combs # 11
Age- 25
Thomas is a power forward at 6'5 and 190 pounds. He likes to pummel his opponents into defeat and can also be a power shooter, holding the record for the second most goals on the team
Arsenio Lorenzo # 24
Age-30
Arsenio is a master at long range shooting, having scored 80% of his career 450 goals from before center ice. He tends to be weaker then some in bunched, close plays, but is also an expert skater and can outskate almost anyone
RW
Jordan Lowe # 89
Age-32
Jordan is a excellent skater and shooter. He has a tendency to always find the net, having the most goals on the team last season on the NHL at 265 goals. He is a little weak on long range shooting, but excels in all other areas
Jason Williams # 55
Age- 29
Jason is a power forward and tends to pummel his opponents rather than by the rules, there for he has a habit having getting penalties. He excels on goal scoring when past center ice, especially if it is in the goalie's face. He isn't the fastest skater though, but is quite good on defense
Center
William D. Earnest # 08
Age-34
William is a team legend. He held the team record for the most goals up until last year when Jordan Lowe broke his record. He is a power shooter, power skater, and power forward. He knows when to pummel through or when to skate by. He excels in all area's of the game, but can be hurt if hit the right way. He is a master at face offs, enemies shake in their skates just seeing him when they head for a faceoff
Edward Johnson # 32
Age-25
Edward was introduced to the team three years ago and was a rookie when the team went the the WCOH 12 and has been playing hard since, trying to earn himself a name while living in the legend, William D. Earnest's shadow.
Goalie
Richard Miller #00
Age-28
Richard was drafted four years ago at the onset of the 12th World Cup of Hockey and has proved invaluable so far. After playing with the Eagles and going with them to three World Cups and a Cherry Cup, he has a vast amount of experience against all kinds of teams. He was the Number 1 overall draft pick and has proven himself worthy to take over Jordan Lowe's Captain position. He excels at close quarter shot blocking and in 12 matches this season he has only let 5 in.
John Baker # 98
Age- 38
John is the team's first goalie from when it was founded. He was a legendary player, however injuries and age have knocked him down a bit. He makes for a great sub and is a average blocker.
Defender
Steven Akers # 87
Age-31
Steven went from a all star rookie to a excellent veteran player, refining his skills on and off the field as the years went on. He no longer commits has many penalties as he used to and he has refined his shooting skill as well as defending and is known for making up amazing defending plays
Shane Nolan # 76
Age-29
Shane is the most aggressive defender out there and he often outscores the wingmen in some seasons. Drafted four years ago,he is looking forward to partaking in his third World Cup
Randy Shannon # 77
Age-25
Randy had a decent rookie year however his skills dropped a bit after refining them a bit after the 12th World Cup. He remains to be a suitable substitution for Nolan and the other defenders, however there have been rumors that he might be traded after this World Cup
Marco Morris # 65
Age- 29
Marco was acquired from a trade four years ago and after it was learned he doesn't like to play well with others, the Coach had him benched, heavily. However, in recent years as he got more playing time, it's rumored that he's been used to "take out" players on the opposing team

The team had finished shuffling out of the locker-room when the coach walked in. Well, all but one; the one guy the media had designated the "problem-player" was still shoving his equipment into his locker when Smart had entered. Smart leaned against a wall and looked at the "problem-player" and cleared his throat.

The player turned and looked. He knew that Smart was there to talk to him about his verbal nastiness with the other players during practice. A certain amount of playful teasing happened between the players, but this guy, new on the team, had simply been unpleasant.

"Mike, pardon my French, but what the fuck is your deal?" Smart nearly snarled. "You know damn well that you can't be pissing off your teammates from day one. I don't care if you don't like them, you need to deal," he said, his expression surprisingly-neutral considering the words coming from his mouth. Mike's eyes narrowed as he stood and turned to face the coach.

"It doesn't matter that I don't like them," Ward said, hostility underlying his voice, "but they haven't done a damned thing to earn my respect. And they ain't getting it until I have a reason to give it to them."

Smart cocked an eyebrow. "They don't exactly have much reason to respect you, Mike. Your achievements aren't exactly any more impressive than theirs. What, exactly, have you done in the last ten years that merits any respect out of them?"

"Jack-shit," Mike replied casually. "I ain't expecting any respect outta them until I earn it," he added. "I don't care if I get treated like shit. It's nothing I haven't gotten from team fans and the news for the last ten fucking years." He shrugged. "I've seen what the hockey 'experts' are saying. They're calling you dumb for hiring me, no matter how cheap I came. So you think you've got to be tough on me to get something worthwhile out of me. I get that. But lay off, coach. I've been doing this shit my own way for my whole career. You're not changing it. If things are gonna change, I'll change myself. I'll get things done my own way."

Smart eyed him before responding. "I'm still in charge here, Ward. I don't care if you don't respect your teammates; tone it the fuck down," he half-snarled. "I ain't asking you to be best friends with 'em, or give them hugs of support or anything, but you need to stop being an obnoxious ass on the ice to them. Save it for the opponents."

Mike spat. "Fine, coach. Done." And with that, an irritated expression blanketing his face, Ward picked up his pack and half-stomped out of the locker-room, leaving Smart alone.

Kyle sighed, muttered something under his breath, and followed the winger.

By the stubborn little decencies of humble little men." -Eric Flint, Belisarius II: In The Heart of Darkness

Audioslavia - National Ice Hockey Team
Betizu Izotza / The Ice Bulls

Est: 1991, Itzalovalle, Sierra Herradura, Audioslavia

The NKFA (Ausque: Neguko Kirol Federazoa, Audioslavia - Anglo: 'Winter Sports Association of Audioslavia') was founded over one hundred and fifty years ago in Itzalovalle, Audioslavia, as a way of regulating the amount of Ice Hockey teams springing up around the Sierra Herradura region. The NKFA's main remit throughout its patchy history has been to maintain Ice Hockey's popularity and revelance in the colder, southern areas of Audioslavia - something it has largely failed to do, thanks to the overwhelming popularity of Football and, to a much lesser extent, Rugby League.

Ice Hockey in Audioslavia has enjoyed a few periods of success over the centuries, beginning in the 1980s with increased attendance at scratch hockey matches in the Sierra Herradura region, leading to the inception of the NKFA in 1991 and the formation of the short lived 'Nazio Liga' in 1993.

Interest in the sport picked up again during the colder winters of 2012 to 2015 with the long-disbanded 'Nazio Liga' being picked up and given a scrub, eventualy being dubbed the 'Audioslavian Ice Hockey Championship' in 2013, which ran to usually modest audiences until the civil war began in 2029.

Now, as 2151 dawns on us, the NKFA has returned to put Audioslavian Ice Hockey back on the map, starting - rather abrubply - with enterance into World Cup of Ice Hockey for the very first time.

RP Notes

There has been a mix-up of profound proportions at the NKFA. Concerned with not being able to properly organize the trip abroad for the Audioslavian national Ice Hockey team, the NKFA employed a couple of members of the FFA (Football Federation of Audioslavia) to help out with administrative affairs. Those members turned out to be a little... accident prone. With one accidental brush of the 'delete' key, Audioslavia's roster for the upcoming championships was deleted. Not wanting to own up to the mistake, the as-yet-unnamed-yet-VERY-fired admin clerk entered a new roster into the system according to which names 'sounded most nordic'.

The problem is.... well, you'll see.

First team = the guys with Basque sounding names. They're decent, keen club-standard players. The rest can barely skate.

Postby Michael VII » Fri Apr 27, 2012 8:24 pm

Another tournament entered, another predestined non-qualification...World Cup of Hockey 18 set to begin.

Previewing the team that will represent Michael VII badly this year in WCoH 18, and not reach Yesopalitha, here's the team...Who's ready to lose?

Offensive Line One: The Scorers
This is our scoring line, with two snipers out on the wing flanks, and our playmaker and team captain in the Centre position. About 80% of Michael VII's goals should be scored from this position, and will see about 20-25 minutes of game time per game. They use a very aggressive tactic that crashes the net to provide a triple threat in front of the net, really grinding the goaltender and creating lots of pressure in the offensive zone to create goals. Unafraid to take a hit, this line is the one to watch out for, as they're the guys that bring the team back into the game. Mattheus Morkel and Friedrich Zoller return, while Damien Karthaus retired following the M7HA season being replaced by former Assistant Captain Harold Bertman on Right Wing. Line One, relies largely on a 2-1-2 forecheck, although preferring to not be put on too much defense.

LW: Mattheus Morkel
-Morkel is a very experienced player on the ice for Michael VII, and has been in international play that fellow first line player and captain Friedrich Zoller, however was snubbed for captaincy back in WCoH 15 and has resumed that way since then. Morkel has shown no signs of getting too old to play, having the endurance and puck handling abilities of the 22 year old guys trying to take his spot. Morkel has led the Jagoza Yeti to a great season in the past year, getting the Regular Season trophy and led the league in scoring, but fell to the Meshkete Royals in 6 games where the Yeti could only score 7 goals. Expect Morkel to be guarding the point, often scoring from back there, as the other guys drill the keeper and set the screen for a great goal opportunity.
Scoring A+, Skating A-, Puck-Handling A, Endurance B+, Toughness B

C: Friedrich Zoller CAPTAIN
-Zoller, can he do any wrong? If there is an assist from the Michael VII team, it will be from him, and with Zoller, you can be assured of greatness. For the short term at least, as his knee has been playing up in recent years, and the 35 year old will be looking at retiring in the next few years, hopefully staying around for WCoH 20, where it is reported that Michael VII will be putting up a hosting bid. Zoller led the Catsore Bay Falcons to an inaugural M7HA Championship by winning the Freedom Cup in 6 matches, getting series MVP in the process. Zoller is our playmaker, and is always there to find the open man, often Morkel on the national team, to set up the goal. His presence in pressuring the goalie has diminished in the past couple of years, but still gets down and dirty next to the net, setting up the quick pass back to the point to get the goalie out of position, and really works for the puck. Puck handling on the break might be an issue, but he's known as a passer not a scorer.
Scoring B, Skating, A+, Puck-Handling B-, Endurance A, Toughness C (Due to knee issues)

RW: Harold Bertman
-Bertman, also of the Falcons, is Zoller's right hand man, being the sniper of the Falcons on their route to a spectacular championship run this past season. Recently promoted to the first line following Karthaus' retirement, Bertman is already used to the RW job, taking the switch well from LW. Bertman has a high work ethic, but could struggle against the better Butterfly keepers, as the 5-hole is his friend. Therefore, he will have to work harder to score goals, as the goalie will need to be out of position and out-deked to get Bertman on the board. It is likely that he will pick up assists from deflections as Zoller will put it in the net for him. Naturally, as a 5-hole shooter, his puck-handling abilities are off the charts, but endurance could be an issue, as playing 20 minutes of fast-paced international hockey can play a big part on whether M7 will advance to Yesopalitha or not...
Scoring B, Skating A+, Puck-Handling A+, Endurance C+, Toughness B+

Offensive Line Two: The Skaters
As mentioned above, Line Two is our skating line. Its unlikely that they'll score all too many goals, or even shoot too much, but they're able to keep the puck on their sticks for long enough to survive the shift. Thus, when the puck is inevitably lost, Line Two runs an extensive Neutral Zone Trap system, forcing the opponent to dump the puck, allowing for the puck to be in the hands of our offense for as long as possible. In the Offensive Zone, a 2-3 forecheck will be used, as it is aggressive enough to win back the puck often, but also conservative enough to protect odd man rushes. Steve Barlow, from the Fourth Line has been brought up to replace Bertman's promotion, however no other positions have changed from last year. It is expected that the Second Line will play 15 minutes per game, often taking the ice after the Checkers or Scorers, and before the Energisers.

LW: Steve Barlow
-Steve Barlow is a relatively young guy, with only 3 years of international experience, who has just come off of the lower ranks of Line Four. The Coaches have seen Barlow's prominence and great play in the domestic league, and have decided that he was the best guy to take on the second line. A great corner shooter, Barlow can be described as a two-way forward, excelling on defense as well as offense, his long term play with the Energising Line has greatly helped his endurance and has the agility to adapt well to a strong forecheck too. He'll play in the deep offensive zone, allowing Fordt to get around the net and play close net hockey.
Scoring: B, Skating: B-, Puck-Handling Ability: C+, Endurance: A+, Toughness: B

C: Gerald Fordt
-Gerald Fordt can probably feel a bit angry about being 'snubbed' over by management for the captaincy roles, seeing as 1st Assistant was promoted to the line with Captain, and Fordt was still available with a lot of hockey playing left in his career. The Meshkete Musketeers Captain had one of his best seasons ever, finishing with the 2nd most points overall, Regular Season MVP honours, and voted as Most Influential Leader at the end-of-season awards, leading the Meshkete based sides to a rare finals series and therefore a CHL berth. And yet, he was not even considered, instead with management heading in the direction of defensemen Assistants that will provide a captain on the ice almost all the time. Fordt's best assets are his puck-handling and skating, being considered a power forward in this line, going behind the net to either sweep around the net for goal, or passing it out for Barlow to score up close to the net.
Scoring: B-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: A, Endurance: B, Toughness: A

RW: Kelvin Harris
-Kelvin Harris, our playmaker on the flanks, is one of the more intriguing players in the M7 lineup. Harris, the youngest player on the team, takes on a strong role in this team, despite being on the 3rd line at Karoe Reds and not making too much of a show there, finishing back in 7th in the Best & Fairest ranks for the Reds. Harris seems to thrive on the opportunity to don the Blue and Gold of M7, and seems like the selectors see through his lackluster play in the M7HA. There is a lot of potential in Harris, but its quite obvious that he's on this line because the coaches don't trust him too much. Never one to be too determined to improve his game, or to show vast amounts of effort on the ice, Harris isn't trusted to take the right option as a sniper in this line, committed enough to make the hits of the third line, or bothered enough to play fourth-line hockey. The line that relies on him just holding the puck seems a good fit for him, and to be playmaker might just mean that he can give off the puck quickly to a shooter and pounce on the rebounds, while largely remaining in the high offensive zone, not deep enough to really make the play but not shallow enough to be a defensive forward.
Scoring: B, Skating: B-, Puck-Handling Ability: A, Endurance: C, Toughness: C+

Offensive Line Three: The Checkers
Here we reach the only untouched line from WCoH 17, for WCoH 18. The checking line, filled with enforcers and grinders, this line really is the stingy line, and could be argued as the stingiest line, and the reason why Michael VII's league has a low goal scoring percentage...The three men on this line are Michael VII's best defensive players, and don't really prove to be of much use with possession of the puck, hence the reason why they only play about 10 minutes per game, and when defense is truly necessary, such as closing out games. Lots of big guys here, not too mobile, and don't really run much of a forecheck, instead following Line Two's lead of a neutral zone trap strategy, forcing the puck out of the offense's hands, and into theirs. Which is when they often dump it and switch lines. Job well done.

LW: Lyle Davy
-Lyle Davy was seriously considered instead of Steve Barlow as the man to replace Harold Bertman in Line Two, however, the coaches felt that Line Two needed to be made up of guys that will just hold the puck and remain there for Line One, whereas Davy was a beast from Line Three that likes to knock guys off their feet, instead of just contain the puck. Davy is incredibly tough, and loss of 4 teeth and multiple concussions and broken ribs show how nothing will keep him from the ice. Never one to shoot the puck, the dump and run strategy works for Davy, liking the whole, "You're about to die" strategy, before giving the puck back again. If he manages to come away from qualifying without any broken bones, I'll be disappointed. But the Bensville Bears won't be, requiring him for next year.
Scoring: D, Skating: C+, Puck-Handling Ability: C-, Endurance: B-, Toughness: A+

C: Ashton Marks
-We see the puns already, "Ashton MARKS out his next victim", "MARKing the red line with blood", or if he's not living up to our bloodthirsty expectations, "OutMARKed on the day". Save us now, because this is just poor and lazy journalism. And its what you get when you let journalists cover hockey, and not hockey analysts. But Ashton Marks is the resident enforcer on our team, if there's a fight, he's in it, even if he wasn't on the ice at the time, and its his mean right hook that you've got to watch out for! Marks isn't that great of a player, or even a skater, and I don't think he's ever taken a shot in his life, but my oh my can he put a man on the deck! That's why he's here, not because he's a hockey player, but because he can fight like an ex-con and knock a man over like a freight train! My guess for PIM? About 10 minutes per game, 10 games in qualifying, so a round figure of 100 minutes seems legit. The Frbiba Flyers don't really want him anymore, so whoever has a space open for a free agent, just call 'em up, and you got a brawler on your hands! If you don't like him on the ice, then just put him in the ring as a prize fighter, works out for everyone...
Scoring: F, Skating: D, Puck-Handling Ability: D, Endurance: A-, Toughness: A+

RW: Terrence Unter ASSISTANT #1
-Unter das Radar? Anyone watching Michael VII hockey should know that he isn't, but not too many people watch us. We don't get the same ratings of Gyatso-kai, not even on a logarithmic graph measuring ratings, and they speak another language that no one speaks! Unter is the one guy in this line that actually has the ability to score, but doesn't. He's another big guy that should be seen on the football pitch rather than on the glorious ice, but knows how to skate around a player and deke the goalie, to follow with a puck lodged in the back of the net. Not so tough as the other two here, and unlikely to start some fights as a peaceful giant, I still wouldn't want to anger him on the ice, because he doesn't get mad, he gets even, by leveling you out on the ice with a huge body check. Last played for the Frbiba Phoenix, Unter is now an Unrestricted Free Agent, entertaining offers from everywhere.
Scoring: B, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: B+, Endurance: C, Toughness: B+

Offensive Line Four: The Energisers
The Fourth Line of any hockey team is largely under-appreciated and misunderstood. They're seen as the guys who just scrape into the team, and don't make an impact on the game play. Not too big, not too talented, not too fast or able with the puck, we see where they come from...But its not overly true that the Fourth Liners do nothing important. They score more than the third line, still make hits, and give the attacking linemen much needed rest and boost for the crucial parts of the match. If we only had three lines, everyone would be much more tired and destroyed by the time we get to Yesopalitha. If we even get close to it. So, these guys have a bit of fresh life in them, all relatively young, but seasoned, all reasonably fast and fit guys, and are able to connect well with the defense, opting for a 2-3 forecheck, conservative, but attacking. Expect these guys to play 15 minutes a game, and making a more solid contribution than the idiots at the journalism department will give them.

LW: Alexei Andropov
Alexei Andropov, remember that name hockey fans. Andropov is just 17 years old, and just finishing High School as well! Andropov was quickly snapped up by Riverside Flood, being his local team, allowing him to finish High School and play with them before entering the Draft. In the Flood's last season, Andropov showed signs of brilliance, and signs of inexperience, thus his 4th line placement. Hailed as the next Mattheus Morkel, Andropov scored 30 goals, out of a possible 64, assisting in another 12, showing a very bright future ahead of him. The young'n has already been widely known to favour orthodox goalies, liking to score down low to beat the keeper, whereas he seems to struggle against the butterfly keepers, lacking some control to put the puck in the top corners, instead missing often to the top or the sides of the net.
Scoring: A-, Skating: A+, Puck-Handling Ability: A+, Endurance: A, Toughness: B

C: Derrick Nutzer
Nutzer is the only veteran of Line Four in this team to return from the squad that failed to make it to Valanora last year. Nutzer is a playmaker, that likes to find the man on the flanks to score, often even back from the point. If Line Four is gonna be on the ice for a goal, its likely gonna be a D-man that scores it, as the forwards are often outmanned in the deep zone. Should this happen though, Nutzer will thrive off of the one-time shot from the slot, especially if the well-practiced screens work well to blind the keeper. Nutzer is the Captain of the Southland Snow Devils, Semifinalists from last season's M7HA.
Scoring: B-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: A, Endurance: A-, Toughness: C (Has injury problems)

RW: Kyle Junter
Junter is another young forward, however not nearly on the same youth level as Andropov. Kyle can actually grow a beard. Junter is a sniper, just able to find the net in the most unlikely of situations, and from the tiniest of gaps. Doesn't have the same X-Factor as his left winger, Mr Perfect, Alexei Andropov, but he's had more Junior Hockey experience, and thus has seen more ice time and has a larger on-ice presence, could easily be seen as a second-liner by WCoH 19/20. Opted for the draft this season, he's expected as the #2 pick, meaning he'll likely have his talents wasted at the Easton Eagles. Watch his wrist shot, quick little flick, and the goal horns will go off. Goaltenders beware.
Scoring: A-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: B+, Endurance: A, Toughness: B

Defensive Pairing One -The Aces
These guys are known as our aces, quick and ready on defense, and they only like to ever exist around the blue line when on attack, counter-attacks are rare on this pairing, and they therefore play the most out of our defensemen. All defensemen have returned from WCoH 17, showing how the elite D-men aren't yet too old, and the young guys aren't yet good enough to replace them. Poke checking is the key from these guys, as hits are rare from the smallest of the 3 pairings. Pairing one is expected to play 25 minutes per game.

LD: Orson Card
-Orson Card is probably the best defensive player in the league, and it seems strange when you take a look at the guy. He's small in stature, just 5'8", not even 200lbs, but is able to hang with the best of them. Card, the key to the Jagoza Yeti's Minor Premiership last season, is able to find himself in representative teams because he doesn't risk hitting a player. He's a thinker, he doesn't get deked, he doesn't set a screen in front of his own goalie, and waits for the moment to poke the puck away. A smart thinker, and a small but quick frame, makes Orson Card our greatest defensive asset.
Scoring: B+, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: A-, Endurance: A+, Toughness: C

RD: Samuel Ford
-Samuel Ford seems to complement Orson well. Ford is a bit more aggressive and willing to give a hit, quickly trying to attack the puck and the man in possession to feed the puck back to the offense. Ford isn't so keen on keeping the puck on him, and adapts better to a conservative base offensive scheme or forecheck than an aggressive one. As such, on offense in critical situations, Pairing One won't be taking the ice. The Catsore Bay Falcons know this all too well.
Scoring: C+, Skating: A+, Puck-Handling Ability: B-, Endurance: A, Toughness: A-

Defensive Pairing Two -The D-Men of Doom
This pair has a captain in its ranks, or at least a leader. It is therefore quite unlikely to interact with Line One, spending a lot of its time with Line Three, as it is the largest pair in stature, and is the checking pair. Hence the D-Men of Doom nickname. Darshon and Spears, both played together at Bensville, in a largely unsuccessful year, due to the Raiders' impotent offense. The Raiders allowed the fewest amount of goals all season, averaging just 0.75 goals against per game, proof of the D-Men of Doom's defensive threat. Pair Two should play about 20 minutes per game.

LD: William Darshon
-William Darshon really wishes he had been a slightly worse player in his last college year...The gig at Bensville hasn't been working out as of recent due to the offense not managing to fire at all. Bensville managed to score just 45 goals all year. On any other team, allowing just 51 would have been amazing, but for the Raiders, it wasn't enough. If Darshon was just slightly worse, he could have been drafted by Catsore Bay, and be celebrating a Championship, but instead got to go home early after not qualifying for the Freedom Cup playoffs. Darshon is a huge guy that ranked really high up on the draft lists of everyone last year, and his hits count proves it. Every time he gets near an opposition attacker, he has a great probability of dislodging the puck from him and injuring the player legally in the process. He's feared.
Scoring: D, Skating: B-, Puck-Handling: C+, Endurance: A-, Toughness: A+

RD: Zane Spears ASSISTANT #2
-Zane can't complain about ending up at the Raiders. He was drafted there back when they were good and made the playoffs. Spears wasn't quite good enough to be a lottery pick 7 years ago, but was good enough to be in the first round, 17th pick, after the Raiders lost in the Cup finals. But Spears has made the most of his predicament, he's gotten bigger, better and reacts well with Darshon in making up a defensive presence on the ice. Not quite as destructive as Darshon, Spears is a technical player that will hit if forced, but would rather set up a scrum along the boards in high pressure situations. No stranger to putting his body on the line, Zane will do anything to avoid a conceded goal, and hence they don't happen very often.
Scoring: C-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling: B, Endurance: A-, Toughness: A+

Defensive Pairing Three -The Defensive Wall
Pair Three is the least favoured Pair in the team, and its unlikely that you'll find fans cheering for Gerald Carson or Karl Kochter. Maybe Kochter because he's 'KK' or 'Dr K', but Gerald Carson lives in the shadow of his younger brother, DL at Westlake High School, and almost assured to be attending UAD next season for NSCF 6. So Gerald just tries to work hard and play good hockey, as he was never good enough to make national headlines in football, Carson opted for another hard-hitting sport, and excelled, enough to make the national team. Dr K is quite old now, expecting this to be one of his last outings, seeing as its been 3 years since making the team, and KK only took up Hockey after getting a PhD in Engineering, at the age of 33. Now at 38, it is unlikely that the Southland player with continue on towards WCoH 20. This Pairing gets limited game time, averaging about 15 minutes per game, and plays a hybrid style of defense, mixing it up with poking and body checking, but also is able to score occasionally. Basically the only guys willing to go past the blue line and yell for the puck.

LD: Gerald Carson
-Older brother of future star QB Gerard Carson, Gerald is making headlines in the hockey world for bringing the Gaetsa Guards to their first ever playoffs berth, after a record breaking season where he won the Plutoni Trophy as the Best Offensive Defenseman. Not that anyone really cared that much, instead the race for Gerard's signature mattered more. This makes Carson mad, as it eventually annoys him, due to hockey being the much better sport. So, as we know, "Hulk, SMASH!", and that's exactly what happened...Carson smashes, and sends Gaetsa to the playoffs.
Scoring: A, Skating: B, Puck-Handling: C, Endurance: C+, Toughness: B+

RD: Karl Kochter
-Dr K, the old weapon in the M7 lineup. At the ripe old age of 38, you'd expect hockey newbie Karl Kochter to retire already, but he seems determined to send Michael VII through to a finals tournament for once. Not like he needs anything to add to his credentials. Doctor of Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, Professional Hockey Player, National Team member, one of the 100 richest men in the nation, and gets to put people on the deck and score goals! After just 5 years on the ice, Kochter has had 3 international seasons, 4 professional seasons, and has placed in the Top 5 for team goals scored in both WCoH campaigns. Kochter looks first to take the puck off you, and then if the peaceful method fails, he'll make the effort to put you down on the ice. An unlikely fighter, KK just wants the little black rubber disc on the ground, so give it to him, or you might feel the wrath of a middle-aged, beer-swilling hockey player! KK is one of the more unusual players on this team, and easily took home the 'Oldest Man' award at the Frbiba Phoenix team night after the season.
Scoring: B, Skating: A, Puck-Handling: B, Endurance: B-, Toughness: B

Goaltenders -The Protectors
Goaltenders are a weird bunch. They have to be a little insane surely? Padding up in front of a net, with huge players flying at you, trying to just see, let alone protect the net from, a tiny black rubber disk zooming past at up to 100 mph, while also bearing the burden of the fans' hatred should a goal get through. Oh, and you're out there for the entire game. Forget the skaters who just play for 90 seconds or so and then rest for 5 minutes, the goalies are out there forever, just waiting for their chance to pounce. With Grenky and Aschweld on board, M7 is looking pretty god in front of the net, especially with the assistance of the defensive pairings, but a great team could sink us by putting a couple on the board, which is a deathly position for M7 to be in.

Starter: Robert Grenky
Stance: Butterfly, Team: Riverside Flood.
Notes: Watch the corners, Grenky protects 5-hole perfectly, but is susceptible up high and from the point.

Reserve: Martin Aschweld
Stance: Orthodox, Team: Nova Schmejga Breakers.
Notes: The 5-hole is open if forced to react quickly to pressure. Aschweld has top of the net down pat, but can be taken down low or in close to the net.

2: Derrick Nutzer

Powerplay Line One
-Crash the Net, 4-1 Forecheck

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Mark Tasher
-Mark Tasher survives for another WCoH campaign! Hooray! Can we get to Yesopalitha this time? Hopefully! Tasher's harsh coaching environment should work well this time for the mostly veteran lineup, that will be used to years of hard work, and only a small break from domestic play. Goalies will be pulled, penalties will be taken, and goals will be conceded, as the 3rd period will be almost all-out-attack. Its how Tasher's always worked, and it is very good at domestic level, but is it workable on the international stage?

Assistant Coach/Goalie Coach: Jonathan Kalt
-The man after Mark's job since WCoH 15, Jonathan Kalt has taken on the role of Goalie Coach in the National team this year, working with Robert and Martin to hope that minimal goals will be scored. Martin could be an issue, as Kalt only every played in the butterfly position, but as long as he can point out Martin's errors, he should be set for a cruisy ride through qualifying where Tasher could indeed fail to meet expectations. Again.

Trainer: Paul Newstubb
-In this lineup, the only guys happy to see Pauli are the Line 3 guys, who like injuries as it proves that they've given it their all. But, Newstubb works well as a conditioning coach and team doctor/physio, that will prepare guys for the ice quickly through great recovery methods. Once fixed, Paul will tell you to walk it off with laps of the rink, the players aren't in for an easy ride this tourney.

Offensive Co-Ordinator: Mike Datchet
-Mike is the offensive kingpin here, advising Mark on what to run from the offense and which lines he thinks should take the ice at what time. Datchet is widely seen as Mark's successor, but don't tell Jonathan that, he won't be too pleased. Datchet is especially good at planning the forecheck and dump-and-chase strategy, contrasting Kalt's theory that one can work the puck up the ice and not need to rely on a forecheck.

Defensive Co-Ordinator: Jude Kart
-Jude, the defense man, and the one behind Bensville's impenetrable defense, has taken up the role of National team Defensive Co-ordinator again, for the 3rd time. Kart works well with a big checking line, and will advise Tasher on all things defense, including when to release the D-Men of Doom and The Checkers, for when we want to add extra hurt to our opponent's destruction.

Special Teams Coach: Werner Ferguson
-Ferguson will control the Special Teams. Ferguson has combined the Powerplay Coach role and parts of the Defensive Co-ord's role to become the Special Teams coach that will run the Powerplay, Extra Attacker and Shorthanded lines. Another 3 year veteran here, hopefully we'll have solid numbers in the penalty scoring/killing department!

History of Hockey in Weatherdon
Hockey is the main sport in Weatherdon. There are two seasons of hockey; roller and ice. Each league has 16 teams in it, and the main cities have both a roller and an ice league. The reigning champions of the WIHL are the Aubany Firebirds, and the reigning champions of the WRHL are the Ambridge Panthers.
Ice Hockey in Weatherdon is a lot different than other countries. Instead of having four lines of forwards and three defensive pairings, there are three lines of each. This means that all players usually have an average of 20 minutes of ice time per game. This allows players to skate around better longer, making them more conditioned for games. There is also no shootout in Weatherdon. Games will go into an extra 20 minute period of time, where the first goal scored is the game winner. If no goal is scored after one period of overtime, there is a second overtime period. This period only lasts 10 minutes, and if there is no goal scored, the game ends in a draw. If it is the post season, then the overtime period has no clock running; the first goal scored ends the game. This shows which team has the “iron lungs.”
Playoff seeds are ranked by division winners (four) and then the next four best teams. Because of this, it is possible for the 13th best team to make it in the playoffs. They then play Best-of-Seven series to determine who moves to the next round.
The winner of the playoffs receives the Konnar Cup, a trophy made from sterling silver. It is approximately three feet tall, and weighs approximately 40 pounds. The trophy is named after the captain of the first official WIHL champions; the Valaerosa Snipes. The runner ups receive the Visirin Bowl, a bowl made from bronze. It holds approximately 1 gallon of liquid, and weighs approximately 10 pounds. The winner of the consolation series receives Lady Cassandra’s Shield, a steel plate-shield used by the first Matriarch of Weatherdon, an avid supporter of the WIHL.

Schedule released: Qazox has toughest road to Yesoplaitha of all 60 teams.

You'd figure being the 4th ranked team in the world would give you a break in the group stages, right? Nope. Qazox was drawn into the toughest qualifying group of the ten groups.

Here is the schedule:

MD 1: v. TaQud (19-time Imapean champions :palm: )
MD 2: v. Bloodbath Generation (We're playing people who love to bathe in blood? :o )
MD 3: @ New High Charity 24 (11-time Stenlay Cup finalists  )
MD 4: v. Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk (They've enslaved over 75% of the alphabet! :meh: )
MD 5: @ Torisakia (I still don't know what they did to that horse! :( )
MD 6: @ TaQud
MD 7: @ Bloodbath Generation
MD 8: v. New High Charity 24
MD 9: @ Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk
MD10: v. Torisakia

And what is up with the 3 road games in the middle of the schedule? The shortest distance from Qazox to Torisakia to TaQud to Bloodbath Generation is over 46,000 miles! At least we'll get some good frequent-flyer miles out of this then. When we do host these 5 undefeated teams, we're playing at the oldest hockey venue in Qazox, the Ganja Vodka Arena in Lorax City. It's bad enough that the acoustics in there make the 16,057 people register an average of 118dB (decibels) during the games. No one can hear a thing! We'll be lucky to win 7 games!

(ooc: Just ignore this RP if you wanta real preview)
(Icly: Ganja Vodka Gardens in RL would either be the old Chicago Stadium or Boston Garden in terms of atmosphere)

CASSADAIGUA WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY 18 ROSTER

Coach: Courtney Rangen, 58 (4th WCOH)
Assistant: Sarah Kennedy, 52
Assistant: Melanie Roy, 51 (Starting goalie for the WCOH 8 championship team)

Goalies:
Starter: #33- Stacie Dupree, 28 (6'1", 192)
Backup: #34- Kaitlyn Oakley, 25 (6'2", 201)

Starting Lineup:

Line 1:
LW: #11- Danielle Martin, 28 (6'1", 192)
C: #16- Meghan Stafford (C), 32 (5'11" 164)
RW: #19- Rachel Cooke, 29 (6'2", 196)

Martin is in her 3rd WcoH now as a part of the top line, and has proven to be a good sniper to Stafford’s left. As for Meghan, some know her as the most prolific goal scorer in the nation’s history, but mostly everyone knows her for her stunning beauty. After all, you may recall how when Quintessence of Dust hosted the tournament, a modeling agency was so enamored by her looks that they had her to do some modeling during the tournament. Rachel Cooke is going to play on the top line for the first time, but she’s no rookie, having logged plenty of ice time on the second unit.

Line 2:

LW: #44- David Stoddard, 30 (6'8", 246)
C: #23- Megan Sommerville, 33 (6’2”, 207)
RW: #9- Stacie Cornett, 21 (5'6", 148) First time starting

Stoddard is on the second line for the second Cup and always enjoys showing opponents that Cassadagan men have the ability to be tough. The power forward won’t hesitate to crash the net and run over your goalie in order to score. Sommerville has become an standby on this line now, and is also a gritty player. This should serve the diminutive Stacie Cornett well as the young goal scorer starts for the first time. Stoddard is more then willing to play policeman if opponents think that will just bully Cornett around, if you catch my drift.

Line 3:

LW: #12- Bridget Ashford, 32 (6'6", 229)
C: #25- Julie O’Connell (A), 38 (5’8”, 172)
RW: #10- Byron Washington, 31 (6'8" 253)

No changes to the checking line. O’Connell is Miss Selke in Cassadaigua if you get my point and despite getting older, she’s such an all-around leader that she continues to be a mainstay in the lineup. Washington isn’t afraid to, and rather enjoys, dropping the gloves, but he can stick it in the net too.

Line 4:

LW: #26- Chase Willis, 23 (5'6", 159)
C: #17- Natalie Conroy, 30 (5'10, 172)
RW: #18- Katia Kasitonov, 23 (5'8" 161)

Unlike other teams that may have their 4th line be a goon line, this is more of a youth line. If anyone things they can push these smaller players around, expect to see Byron Washington double-shifted, although towering defensemen Michael Macchio figures to be on the ice whenever they are to ensure no funny business goes on.

D Pair 1:

LD: #52- Michael Macchio, 25 (6'7", 231)
RD: #3- Samantha Preston (A), 31 (6'1", 206)

Preston is an offensive minded defensemen and a PP quarterback. She is the young sister of Andrew Preston, the first ever male captain of any Cassadagan sports team, and for the first time assumes the “A” on her jersey. Macchio is promoted from the second pairing and is a gritty checker who should complement Preston well. His overall hockey instincts go well beyond his young age.

D Pair 2:

LD: #5- Katie Robinson, 28 (6'3", 182)
RD: #6- Brittany Desjardins, 27 (6'2", 179) First time Starting

Robinson is a gritty defensive defensemen. The kind of player you don’t see on the scoresheet but then realize they’re leading the team in +/-. That will allow Desjardins, who is in her first WcoH as a starter to show her offensive instincts every now and then. She will work with Preston on the first power-play unit.

D Pair 3:

LD: #32- Timothy Lyons, 33 (6’4”, 215)
RD: #4- Charlotte Stanley, 30 (6’2”, 207)

Lyons is capable defensively, but has a wicked slapshot. Stanley was accepted to the team because of her last name. Well, and she’s a pretty good stay at home type, too. They have played together as a pair now for the last 3 WCOH’s (this being the 4th)

PP Unit 1: Martin-Stafford-CORNETT; Preston-Desjardins
PP Unit 2: Stoddard-Sommerville-Cooke; Lyons-Macchio
(at times coach Rangen will use a 4th forward when PP2 is on the ice. When that happens, Stoddard plays on the point, and Chase Willis is on the LW.

PK Unit 1: O’Connell-Sommervile; Robinson-Macchio
PK Unit 2: Ashford-Washington; Preston-Stanley

Reserves:

W: #45- John Miller, 24 (6'2" 218)
W: #28- Lexi Greene, 19 (5'8", 146) First time on team
W: #14- Jessica Stasberg, 29 (6'3, 226)
W: #77- Rob Boucher, 31 (6'6", 250)
C: #61- Kiersten Woodford, 29 (5'11", 175)
C: #13- Brett Gannon, 29 (6'7", 252)
D: #36- Ciara Patenaude, 28 (6'4", 188)
D: #27- Rebecca Hopper, 24 (6'4", 209)
D: #38- Michael DeLauria, 28 (6'8", 243)
D: #2- Brittany Endres, 21 (5'11", 162) First time on team
G: #41- Tatiana Larionov, 26 (5'10", 168) First time on team
