Such irony, that the 5000th post in this thread happens to be one from a long-standing contributor who has been driven from our midst by others whose passion has also overridden their good sense.

Whether or not he should have reacted as he did is largely beside the point. It is a sad time for this community, if we still merit that name.

Aren't we all the big drama queens here... So the relatively innocent issue of Newmanistan questioning a relatively innocent decision of a CoH entry cumulates to him leaving. It's just a game, apparently we can't just enjoy it and RP, maybe win a trophy or two. I'm not going to whine about this any further, I'm just asking all of you to think over this question:

Are we ever going to realise that this kind arguing bullshit about nothing is completely unnecessary?

Third in WC51. That's about it. I think we once won the inaugural Table Tennis World Cup as well?

In the past few weeks, we've lost two high-profile players in different ways.

One left quietly, making no mention of any reasons for so doing. He just ICly obliterated his nation, quietly posted a withdrawal and moved on.

Another created a firestorm, leaving hurt feelings and resentment in his/her wake.

I hope that when I decide my time here is done, I follow the first example.

And no, I don't plan to leave yet. As of now, I still enjoy the RPing more than I hate the bullshit. But the gap has closed rather considerably of late. :?

Really, Toyur, there's no need for a summary of events; we can all go back and read the posts to enlighten ourselves.

Other than that, for the first time in a good while in the WCDT, I'm genuinely speechless.

Because of all this arguing I'm probably not going to find someone to bid for BoF with. I really think the arguments on this thread can become out of control which isn't really how it should work.

I had, up until today, been planning to increase my involvement in the World Cup.

After seeing what it did to Newmanistan, I think I won't. None of the other tournaments, from what I have seen, have garnered anywhere close to this amount of drama and grief.

I noticed. Which is possibly why, from my POV, the others are a little more enjoyable.

Hence why I have decided not to get really involved in this. Good luck to all involved, but I'm asking: please don't exile anyone else everyone else enjoys RPing with from NS Sports. Please.

Remind me again why we are giving Newmanistan the time of day for all this whining over leaving? You had your time here, you roleplayed, you competed, you saw something you didn't like and now you're leaving. You voiced your opinion, you stirred shit up so congrats! Go home. Here's your soapbox you stood on, here's your gift basket, now lets move on with NSWC discussions.

The fact that half of the EWCC agrees the hosts should have the say, that's who. I'm asking for what is essentially a return to how things were when I started. And it worked OK then. The main reason for the introdution of the current rule was, IIRC, overly loose restrictions from bidding hosts.

While I admit disappointment, I really can't say I blame you in the slightest.

From my point of view...all I'll say is it's feeling a lot like World Cup 32 again. Except that this time if it ends up with the same result, 56 might not be a repeat of 36 for me.

In slightly less disappointing news, I'd like to state that I agree with Virabia in principle – I do believe criteria for entry into the CoH should indeed be stronger; however, I don't think this should be accomplished by a rule change, but rather the infamous "hosts' discretion". I don't really feel like staying in this thread long enough to expound upon that, but I think Virabia and Krytenia have covered this reasonably well.

So... if you did go after 52... what would happen with the presidency? Not that I want you to go. I'm just thinking hypothetically.

As to everything else, I agree with Nethers. Oh, and if it came to it, I wouldn't mind starting again. However, I'm here to RP, and it wouldn't really fit in with the current Schiavonia team. But if it did happen, I'm sure it could give us some interesting opportunities. Indeed, I'm sure the two occasions on which I decided to start again from scratch for the purpose of RP would be evidence of that.

However, I wouldn't do it just to keep Newmanistan here. Nothing personal, I just got the impression that your heart wasn't in the WC as opposed to other things, and so would feel like I was trying to hold you here against your will. And, as I've told you through other means before, I wouldn't want to do that.

If that were to happen, the office of president would pass to the VP (i.e. the second highest vote getter). Though I don't actually have any intention of leaving at this time, just sort of pointing out general frustration over the last four or five pages of this thread (which you'll notice I've stayed pretty much completely out of, which is probably better for my general mental health).

I'd just to start up this by offering a sincere apology to the community at large. I realize that it perhaps my heated remarks about the way people were acting about this whole situation, and in the process of getting frustrated by watching people get frustrated over menial points of interpretation, I immersed myself into the midst of a mindset that I don't normally espouse (simply because I don't like it myself). In due course, I've received a message from Newmanistan that's given me a little more insight into the whole situation. At the risk of fanning the flames after it seems that everyone wants the charred embers to die out, I'm going to make a few statements about what I've determined.

Newmanistan's remarks - as much as I disagree with them on the heart of the matter - were in fact a response to Valanora's response to Newmanistan's criticism over the host's judgment. We've already discussed everything else to death, so I'd just like a response as to why Valanora felt that an ad hominem was necessary to press a point that was just as adeptly provided in the first two sentences of that post (via TG is fine if Valanora does not want to stoke the fire here). I've also made a similar request to Newmanistan, asking why he (I've always thought he was a she :?) felt that Valanora's remark deserved a response (as the very remark that elicited my ire was edited back into the post). I'm hoping not to bear the ghosts of arguments past into this one, but I'm only asking one point here, and I hope that I can get one response that satisfies (or not). If you think that I'm rehashing an old argument, then so be it. I just want my conscience clear as to why I allowed a feeling - in response to a reply to an ad hominem remark - to erupt when I should have had the sense to ignore it. And just a note, I only want Valanora's reply; any others' are just a superfluous addition to the whole mess that has already transpired, and I have no intention of letting it spill farther than it needs to do so.

Regardless, I'm sorry for having contributed to this mass feeling of dejection. I have no qualms of Newmanistan's departure, as it's his/her choice; I've already cleared my grievances with him/her separately (well, I haven't gotten a reply back), and I hope that everyone else understands that I have a better understanding of why he/she made remarks that provoked my ire. I just don't want any one to feel down because of something that was probably immature on my part.

It would be nice to have a discussion on points of contention without it turning into a verbal barrage even 5 year olds would be ashamed to be a part of. If we cant discuss our issues in a civil manner - civil does not mean passionless - or somewhere close to civil, then nothing will ever change and these arguments that you complain of cup after cup after cup and so on will only continue. Valid points get brought up and then are dismissed with the wave of a hand to pop up again next time round. We have to figure out a way to communicate and make things better for all of us.

I've been paying close attention to this thread and this utterly idiotic discussion for the whole week. And in all honesty,

I'm just speechless.

So the merry men of the WCDT have kicked out a long-standing contributor, who recently held a World Cup, just because of some innocent question? You guys just have to type out several paragraphs of hate that doesn't really mean anything? For crying out loud guys, it's just a game. We aren't FIFA or UEFA or any of those real organizations, so just cut it. Please.

Personally, I don't think we need any more posts like this, they don't really help anything. But that's just my personal opinion. I've had what I've had to say on the subject so I don't really want to push this anywhere, I just don't think several high and mighty "oh you lot shouldn't have!" posts are unhelpful and actually, the cause of issues like this getting blown out of proportion. Not that Burch is the only one, sorry to pick you out, but you just posted it. :P

Anyway, the reason I came here was to ask, does anyone make stadium pictures like ShinyPlaces (KPs old storefornt)? I was wondering because ICly, I'm building some more stadiums for my WC bid and I'd prefer not to use more World Stadiums pictures, just doesn't seem as authentic or anything. So yeah, does anyone do anything like them and would you be looking for a new customer? :)

<Beddgelert> if that were true, i'd never have woken up with pockets full of ketchup

I can name one or two off the top of my head whom I believe would rather I just said the hell with it and left. But here, you're carrying on in a rather immature fashion. So people are accusing you of something you believe is false. So what? People will think what they will regardless of what you do or say. Don't give a flying fuck about the haters. Otherwise, you run the risk of being Qazox Lite.
