Really, what's the point? Does RPing actally give you some benefit at all?

Sorry, but after the BoF, this is really frustrating...

Wow, not sure in some 6 years of being here that I've ever been described as that before. Extenuating circumstances this time, promise. Extenuating in that I came back from holiday with a Mrs Star-to-be. So yep, for those not following on facebook, my gf said yes to the popped question and we're engaged :)

Hey, nevermind me, I was just being mr. complainer. And you are the best ranked in the group, who did I think I was to complain?

And congrats on your engagement :D

Starblaydia wrote:But how many small breakaway football association puppet type nations have we seen in the World Cup's history? Enough to say that a starting-out nation at some point in time is equivalent to Pohnpei, you pedantic so-and-so :p

Yes, but to match the example of a NSWC puppet nation, Pohnpei would still have to have an internationally-recognised football association (as with Wales, Hong Kong, or indeed your own example of the Faroes) even if it were to remain a part of the Federated States of Micronesia while separately participating in international football. So I stand by my petty pedantry, especially since Pohnpei can't gain any FIFA ranking points.

Although Palestine - a full member of both FIFA and the AFC despite some messy geopolitics - does provide an interesting potential alternative case study for IC WC participation by puppets not recognised by their controlling/occupying nation.

Tuh. Kids today. No appreciation of academic pedantry.

Anyway, having ploughed my way through my work e-mails (that's right, kids, you too can arrive at your city's airport early in the morning after a 13 hour flight from Hong Kong {itself coming just a day after a 9 hour flight from Melbourne} and still work that day), I'm far too jetlagged to think about RPing today.

But promise to start RPing properly again tomorrow.

Dr. Archregimancy would like to pedantically point out that Pohnpei is not a member of FIFA as it's merely one of the Federated States of Micronesia, and therefore part of the Micronesian national FA. It is no more eligible to participate in a FIFA event in its own right than Shetland or (more accurately) Tasmania. Therefore any nation starting out as Pohnpei would probably be ineligible to participate in the World Cup.

And I just want to remind everyone that I was just as pedantic even before my name was lit up in red.
