6-2 loss against non-RPer best ranked Starblaydia; 2-2 draw against non-RPer worst ranked Upper North Yorkshire.

Really, what's the point? Does RPing actally give you some benefit at all?

Sorry, but after the BoF, this is really frustrating...

RP only increases your chance of winning. It doesn't confirm it.
You are a newcomer, as in, this is your first World Cup. Expect things to happen.
I RP not to win, but just to make the experience better. You should too.

In the event that teams finish with an equal number of points, they will be separated by wins, results between the tied teams, goal difference, and goals scored, in that order.

Yes, it is frustrating. I came out of my own Baptism of Fire with a respectable 3-1-1 performance, roleplaying with some frequency, and figured I'd be okay (not very good, but okay) in my first World Cup qualifying. We came out of the gate with a ten-game winless streak.

Three Cups later we qualified and finished third overall. But it did not stop us from dropping a 4-1 decision at home against a team that never RPed and was ranked more than 100 places below us. Life happens.

The effect of RP accumulates throughout a tournament, especially a long one like WC qualifying. Different hosts use different formulas, including tweaks to ensure that quantity alone does not overwhelm quantity. One thing I'm certain of -- one decent daily RP will have your team playing measurably stronger as the competition rolls on.

Upper North Yorkshire, Zarbli, and Krytenia are level on points and wins. The next tiebreaker is head-to-head points. Krytenia has yet to play either Upper North Yorkshire or Zarbli, and therefore has no head-to-head points. Upper North Yorkshire and Zarbli played to a draw on matchday 2, and therefore each have one head-to-head point, so they’re tied for eighth and Krytenia is tenth. The tie for eighth is then broken on goal difference.

Ah. That explains it then. May be useful, as the cup goes on, to put some explanation of positions where the juxtaposition of teams is not obvious. I confuse easy...

Sometimes that happens, the two scoreless ties.

I'm guessing your RP's are getting in. In any case, you've tied Peisandros, who's a top 30 team. So really, you've done very well so far.

I guess that's just how the dice rolls.

Yeah, I was just wondering because I was cutting it pretty close.

Also, would you be able to change your style modifier? (Ex: Head Coach is demanding the players play more offensively/defensively.)

It depends on the host. Some will let you change it only once, and some not at all. And for many of the hosts that let you change it, it has to be part of an RP. As for this, I'm not sure.

Newbies these days.... I guess people "withdraw from the World Cup" and don't even say anything about it. I just want to let people, especially those in my group, see this little tidbit to help with RP's if they want.

Read Sierra Apathia's sig: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2025

You'd of thought that would been in the news somewhere. ;)

I had a team in Balida's Futball League that repeatedly either won or lost 1-0 for about 7 or 8 games or so. Now that was freaky.

Regarding style changes, I'd TG Commerce Heights to find out.

Should we deal with a withdrawl, as in Sierra Apathia's case as basically a forfeit for their games (which, if we were to follow FIFA, would be an instant 3-0 win granted to the opposing side)? After all, it's not a CTE, and it'd be a bit weird to scorinate matches with a team that has formally withdrawn.

Their BoF games were scorinated as normal, for what it's worth - and no, I didn't see that note in their sig.

As far as I'm concerned, as they haven't specifically stated it directly to the hosts, they should carry on playing their games until such a time. Then, as far as I remember, it is a 3-0 loss and three points lost per game. Previous examples of this happening involve The Water Cooler and one game by The Belmore Family, both back in the mid teens.

Yes.

Inabi wrote:Also, would you be able to change your style modifier? (Ex: Head Coach is demanding the players play more offensively/defensively.)

No, style modifiers, once set, may not be changed.

Read Sierra Apathia's sig: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2025

You'd of thought that would been in the news somewhere. ;)

Then, as far as I remember, it is a 3-0 loss and three points lost per game. Previous examples of this happening involve The Water Cooler and one game by The Belmore Family, both back in the mid teens.

I (and Oli) agree with Schia here—Sierra Apathia has not withdrawn, because it has not informed the hosts of this decision (either directly, or in this thread). The team’s matches will continue to be scorinated normally until that changes. From an in-character perspective, one could consider that the team currently playing is a rogue team, operating without the knowledge of Sierra Apathia’s football association, taking advantage of the failure by the FA to communicate the situation to the WCC or PARSEC (WC51 organizing committee).

Yes, though ideally you would have set your style modifier when you posted your roster.
