To Cass: Good point. I'm editing the roster thread at the moment, so will do that to the RP thread when I'm done there.

To Licentiapacisterra: See above. I'm putting in ranks etc into xkoranate as I go so I can randomise the groups (so top seeds don't all have bye days on the same day) before posting them, It shouldn't be too long now.

No, but the RPs from the nations to which you refer will be graded by the other co-host or another neutral party.

The current edition is all "locked in" for participants I'm afraid, but if you hang around for a couple of weeks the signups for the next edition will be up for you to sling your name in*. Next edition won't be for a month or two at least though.

Just a clarification for you:
Britain switched to BST last night (British Summer Time) and I'm not sure on which schedule other nations around the world may or may not be doing similar and skipping the clocks forward/backwards an hour.

Just to be clear, by "MIDNIGHT GMT" I was hoping people not from the UK would just look up the time in the UK relative to them and work it out, regardless of BST.

Cutoffs will continue to be at midnight in the UK. With clocks changing here and there you may have to work out what that means for you, but yeah, midnight in the UK is when I'll be cutting off.

If you give times relative to UTC (because that's the universal whatchamacallit) it might be a little easier. BST is UTC+1.00 if I'm not mistaken.

OPEN INVITATION FOR ALL TROUBLE-LOVING WORLD CUP NATIONS

If you make it all the way through this RP, you can see that Grilled Brie for 3 will soon have a "Win a Date with Natasha Klossovskaya" segment, and it's every bit as simple and/or stupid as it sounds. If you have a male (or female, whatever) player, fan, head of state, head of government, celebrity chef, renowned monk, whoever, who would like to appear on the show so that they can try to hook up with Kagdazka and Pazhujebu's talented (and really attractive) right back, send me a TG to demonstrate your interest.

I'm not aiming for anything in particular here. Just feel like doing something super trashy and entertaining rather than the serious approach I always find myself taking. Maybe I'm channeling my inner Jeruselem.

Anyway, yeah, read the RP and send me a TG if you're up for it.

Those two are more frightening than the entire decomposed population of Wight and the Uncertain Dimensions. I don't think I would send my worst enemy to Grilled Brie for 3...

What Bos said, I'm afraid. Can't be that universal, I'd never heard of it until I joined this site, and I still don't really understand it I'm afraid. There is going to be a "24 hours" alert tonight, so people can work it out easily from there. Hopefully.

It's come to my attention (thanks to FSSO for spotting this) that Novikov had a KPB rank from entering World Cup 56 and should not have been allowed to participate in the Baptism of Fire. My fault. :oops:

Their BoF entry has been removed from the ranks; their correct KPB ranking was used in the draw, fortunately.

In other news, let's again be thinking about CoH bids so we can vote during the second half of qualifiers; I'm not sure of the Darmen/Mangolana bid's status.

Here, I'll make it easy for everyone:

Midnight BST is 1:00 AM GMT. GMT is (roughly) the same time zone as UTC, so when a nation is, say, UTC -5, they are five hours behind GMT. So, when PI says that scorination will be Midnight BST, it is the following time in the following places:

-New York City, Philadelphia PA, or anywhere else in the Eastern Daylight Time zone: 7 PM
-Chicago, Dallas, Bogota, or elsewhere in the Central Daylight Time Zone, or where Daylight Savings/Summer Time has not yet started in the Eastern Time Zone: 6 PM
-Mountain Daylight Time (Denver), or Central Time that has yet to observe Daylight/Summer Time: 5 PM
-Pacific Daylight Time, or Mountain Time that has yet to observe Daylight Savings: 4 PM
-Tokyo: 8 AM
-Singapore: 7 AM
-Adelaide: 9:30 AM
